God I wish people could talk about trans women’s issues without bringing up trans men and implying that we never experience anything bad ever. Like every time it’s “Trans women experience *thing*, but trans men don’t!!!” And then it’s something we absolutely do experience and they just made that shit up on the spot. Stop making assumptions about trans men’s experiences and existence PLEASE because I guarantee every time you say “This doesn’t happen to trans men” 99% of the time it does. If you catch yourself saying that, actually talk to a few transmascs first instead of just making that assumption and spreading misinformation that contributes to trans erasure

Yesterday, July 8th, saw a huge march for trans rights in London. Over 25,000 people in attendance, including celebrities and activists.
Our "impartial" media, the BBC, hasn't mentioned it once across the BBC News website. You'd think 25,000+ gathering in the capital city to protest for equality would be worth even a token one-liner article, but no.
I would say I'm disappointed but at this point it's expected. I'm angry about it, though.
EDIT: Apparently one does exist: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce9gdmenl5zo

Please Help Homeless Trans Women Serving Our Homeless Squatter Community Raise $150 to Buy Water and Propane for our Neighbors
March 3rd 2024
Tumblr media
My girlfriend and I are two transgender homeless women living in Slab City, a homeless squatter town in the middle of the desert.
We live in one of the poorest communities in the United States. There are no utility companies and many people don't have water or fuel to cook with if they don't get it themselves.
Our camp is dedicated to helping our neighbors and our community. We offer free water and to our neighbors for drinking, cooking, and heating.
To fill both our water tanks it costs $80, and to fill our propane tanks it costs $40. To get a ride to the store to fill the tanks costs $30.
We don't have an income outside of whatever donations we raise and so if we can't raise money, we can't help people.
Please help us raise $150 to help our friends and our neighbors maintain access to water and propane.

Homeless LGBT couple asking for help!!!
Tumblr media
Hey everybody.
My little family has made it back to California and we are struggling pretty badly right now. We are still homeless and we have nowhere to stay right now. We don't have any income at the moment, though we are both actively looking for jobs. We really could use some support right now to cover us sheltering in a motel room and food. I've been having really bad stomach issues due to stress and a lack of healthy food and my bronchitis came back shortly after we arrived, now worse than before.
We cannot do this alone and we really need food and shelter. Any support is greatly appreciated. We are burning out so bad and we can't deal with any more bad things happening in our lives right now.

(Please no hate or unsolicited advice. We've tried everything available to us in our area and I cannot deal with hate. You will be blocked for my mental health sake.)

Last night I was feeling kind of shitty out of the blue, and for no reason in particular, I decided to put on my chest binder.
Very quickly felt a sense of relief come over me, and same thing happened when I put it on today.
So here's a little reminder in case anyone else is like me and tends to minimize their dysphoria: sometimes dysphoria isn't always obvious. Sometimes it's just this sort of unexplained bad feeling. So if you're dealing with unexplained bad feelings and you've tried other things (making sure you're fed, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, taking a shower, all those basic things) to deal with the bad feelings with no luck, maybe check if doing things that give you gender euphoria or at least lessen your gender dysphoria help.

Dear trans youth:
I am sorry.
I am so sorry you are facing more and more hatred nationally, which I'm sure is emboldening the transphobes in your life to express more and more hatred personally. I'm so sorry your right to safely exist is seen as "controversial" in so many places. I'm so sorry laws are being passed that serve no other purpose than to harm you.
I've always been cis, so I can only imagine how it must feel to have your life mocked and dismissed and so often threatened, targeted as a talking-point by bigots who promote violence against you because it "polls well".
I'm horrified by the literal, this-is-not-a-joke, actual goddamn genocide already gaining steam in the Northern Hemisphere's taint-stain I mean South, the US South. I hate that I am watching human rights get rolled back with every election cycle. I am more ashamed of my country every day.
As a Californian I feel like I can't do much politically, except vote and sign petitions and write long emails to various representatives (find yours here), but I can at least tell you about some resources I know of:
The Office of Transgender Initiative is a San Francisco-based national resource with just, like, pretty much everything. And if they don’t have it, they’ll know where to get it.
This Texas-based nonprofit has counseling and crises guidance.
This Atlanta-based youth group has a crisis hotline, as well as a bunch of other hotlines.
This Maine-based advocacy group can hook you up with everything from literature to social events to legal advice.
This advocacy group has tons of information and counselors, with FAQs for many relevant topics including surgery prep.
This online support group discusses the ins and outs of medical transitioning.
This discord server has several LGBTQIA+ groups.
This risk assessment map can predict just how bad your state might get in the next two years.
This nonprofit can help you find safe housing, free food, legal council, and even a job.
This organization can help you if you’re about to be homeless.
This hotline can help you find a safe place to sleep tonight.
These folks, and these folks, and these folks, can give you free legal advice, including help with emancipating from your parents if you're a minor.
These folks, and these folks, and these folks, can also give you free legal advice, including help with seeking asylum or refugee status.
This Lifeline is a wealth of suicide prevention resources.
And every word in this sentence links to an online support group.
I wish I could do more. I wish there were more resources out there for you. (And if you know of any more, please reblog with them!) I wish we lived in a better world.
I am so sorry you have to face all this, but please, please remember that you are not facing it alone. You have allies.
We see you.
We are fighting for you.
Please don't give up hope.

Okay, so let’s get this straight
This is a single comment Matt got, literally once, that almost immediately, and when I say immediately I mean immediately, triggered the ban of a trans woman:
Tumblr media
And this is what trans people here on tumblr get in just a few hours that takes tumblr staff days and/or weeks, maybe never, to actually take action on, meanwhile in that timeframe these people are still allowed to post and harass trans people as much as they please:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Does this seem fair? At all? This doesn’t seem very queer friendly for “the queerest place on the internet”
Why does the cis white dude get special privileges when someone simply makes fun of him for being a bad ceo, but trans people who are actively being harassed, getting death and harm threats, told to kill themselves, etc. literally have to beg for staff to do something
What’s up with that, @staff? Why do I have to beg to be protected and to have other trans individuals protected by staff when that’s literally your job? I have to beg while these people get to do whatever they want because you never actually do anything about it? That your ceo gets special little boy privilege and can have whoever he wants banned whenever he wants? Why aren’t you doing what you’re supposed to?

Hi everyone,
One of my best friends was recently made homeless by her abusive partner. I’m currently housing her in my apartment in Philadelphia until the lease is up in May, but she needs support to cover living expenses and to help rebuild her life. She literally came here with everything she owns in a single bag.
If you could donate, it would mean the world to me and to Hannah. But even a reblog goes farther than you can imagine.
All my love,
tumblr user girl-chunks

Please Help Homeless Trans Women Serving Our Homeless Squatter Community Raise $80 to Buy Food for Ourselves and Our Neighbors
February 27th 2024
Tumblr media
My girlfriend and I are two transgender homeless women living in Slab City, a homeless squatter town in the middle of the desert.
We live in one of the poorest communities in the United States. Around this time of month everyone is out of EBT money to buy food with and starting to starve.
Our camp is dedicated to helping our neighbors and our community. During the end of the month we often provide meals and a community pantry.
To go shopping for the bare necessities we need $80, but everything we raise over that feeds another person.
We don't have an income outside of whatever donations we raise and so if we can't raise money, we can't help people.
Please help us raise $80 to feed ourselves, our friends, and our neighbors.
