I’m always super curious about how myrah and cassandra would be remembered in f&b, and then portrayed in the show.
I would like to think myrah would be more clear cut. It is a love story at the heart of it. But I think her status would make the way she spoken about murky. Lots of rumors about why Aemond would marry her… as if she’s some troll or something lol. But at the end of the day, that’s the people’s princess 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️
Now Cassandra… I have a feeling she’d be called anything but a child of god in the book 😭☹️. Then her story (the marriage, the cheating, how she feels about her kids etc) would be fleshed out in show and give some background

For my first post here, I'll start by introducing my OC.
Meet
Princess Myrah of Rosas
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Princess Myrah, or the jewel of Rosas, as the people call her, is Amaya's younger cousin and 27 years of age.
She stands 1.68 cm tall or 5.6 ft
Orgin
One year after the fall of Magnifico, Myrah's parents, King and Queen of Solaris ( a neighbour kingdom south west from Spain. Also Amaya's homeland) decided to pay Amaya a visit.
Tumblr media
However, a strong late summer storm caused the ship to sink only a few miles before Rosas.
By the grace of the great father (God, as I call him in my Story) Myrah (18 at that time) was washed at the shores of Rosas, where she was found by fishermen. She was idendified by guards and brought to the palace.
There, Amaya took Myrah in and continued raising her like a sister and she became princess of Rosas.
Back in Solaris, Myrah's unlce stepped into his brother's shoes. He decided it would be the best Myrah stayed with Amaya. Since she survived and made it to Rosas, it was clear this was the will of the great father.
Important relationships
(Spoiler free, since there is a story in the making)
Amaya
Myrah has a good relationship with her older cousin eventhough her and Amaya's view on things go seperate ways.
Asha
Asha was one of the very first people Myrah became close with. They share the passion for art and Myrah finds it easier to talk to Asha compared to her cousin. Oftentimes, Asha helps Myrah get ready for events.
Julius
Myrah's loyal cat, fierce protector and best friend. She found him as a kitten at the port of Rosas, raised him and taught him to read and talk.
Character
Free spirited, temperamental, peace loving, daydreamer, humorous (sometimes sarcastic), kind, analytical, sensitive, adventurous, optimistic, compassionate, trusting, fast forgiving, bolt, stubborn, determined, empathic, honest (outspoken in all ways), humble.
Likes/loves :
Nature, peace and quiet, books (everything from fairy tales to science), stars/astrologie, roses, horseback riding, collecting pretty stones and seashells, dancing.
Dislikes :
Being the center of attention, being told what to do, people not understanding her ways of thinking and feeling, spiders and bugs, dark rooms.
Exceptional Skills :
Horseback riding, singing

Prompt 3: Old OC(s)
Meet Fallon and Myrah, two old characters I had from a story way long ago. This is also a bit of a redesign cause they’re old designs are, uh, interesting. I’ll have to see if I can find their old art lol.
In the story, Myrah is the chosen one, gifted powers of the sun. And Fallon is her loyal sidekick, helping her friend complete the prophesy/quest/whatever it was. However Myrah struggles to control her powers, and so Fallon gets injured a lot. Her bandages cover the burns and scars on her arms, which she hides from Myrah to keep her from worrying or getting distracted from their main goal.

How to be adopted in ten steps (or less!) - part 1
Pairing: Chain & OC (platonic)
Rating: G
Summary: the chain is lead to a friend of Wild, the woman is not what they expected
Genre: Found family
Warnings: none
-------
The chain isn't sure how exactly they ended up sitting around a fire outside the inn nearest Gerudo town- but it's worth it as the soup the stranger Wild is talking to is eaten.
"So... You're going by Wild now?" The woman asks, leaning against the log beside Wild, her form massive even as she sits with her knees up.
"Yeah, why?"
"It fits. You should know."
Wild laughs at that, punching the woman's shoulder. She's maybe twenty-one, but she's got the same haunted look Wild does when she stares at the fire too long.
"You're worse than me!" Wild fires back.
"I am not. Grandmother would kill me." She laughs, "As bad as you- Wild I am hurt. You are supposed to be my friend."
"Don't start." Wild huffs, "Myrah I have pictures to prove it."
"The fish know what they did." She says firmly, "And you helped. As I recall."
Wild just snickers.
"So... How do you know Wild?" Wind asks, wanting dirt on his brother in arms.
Myrah looks up at Wind, something gentle and bitter flashing in her gaze. "Our fathers were close... And also I helped him as much as I could when he want to defeat Gannon."
"Your fathers- how old are you?" Twilight asks, trying not to gape.
"Nineteen." Myrah says, stretching her arms straight up. "Why, do I look that old?"
"No- just- you know how old Wild is... Right?"
"Of course. He's six months younger than me." Myrah says, as if nothing is amiss and Wild isn't over a century old.
"How-... How long have you been nineteen?" Sky asks.
"A lot longer than anyone wants to be." Myrah grins, "Why, you want stories?"
"Stories?" Four asks, intrigued.
"Stories. I've gathered a lot over the years. You would believe how hard it is to teach my nieces not to be scared of cucoos."
Wild just snickers, "They're worse than me."
"No. They were perfect ladies. You are a dirty gremlin with sticks in his hair."
Wind cackles, always pleased to see any of the chain put in their place.
Twilight and Legend both bite back smiles as Time decides he likes this woman.
"So... You said you're shorter than your people?" Hyrule asks, finding this genuinely hard to believe.
"She is!" Wild grins, sounding happy to talk about it, "Most gerudo women these days are like nine feet tall!"
"These days." She says, "Though I was short then too."
"Not to fun is it?" Wild huffs, shorter than most people in his Hyrule.
"I don't mind." She laughs, "It keeps me humble."
"You need that." Wild smirks, "Seriously guys Myrah is such a confident person it's insane.
"If you live long enough you learn your worth." She shrugs, eyeing Time, "isn't that right?"
Time just nods, not sure he has lived long enough for that. But the woman seems sure.
"Stew is ready, do me a favor and show them the bowls?" Myrah asks, stirring her pot slowly.
Wild nods, leading the boys to a cupboard full of bowls larger than any of them are used to.
The chain all grabs bowls before being served generous servings of the stew.
They all settle about the living room, some in the floor some standing.
Wild sits beside Myrah, leaning against her with his whole weight.
"So... What have you guys even been up to? I'm guessing it's not a fun time."
"No... We're tracking someone... A shadow." Twilight sighs.
"I suppose you'd have to. Shadows hide so easy." She shakes her head, "Well either way you need to keep your strength up."
"We do." Time says, eyeing the stew.
Wild and Wind are both happily eating the stew. Both absolutely loving it.
Hyrule tastes the stew, before making a surprised sound, "This tastes like Wild's healing soup!"
"I taught him some recipes over the years." Myrah says with a half-hearted shrug, "Tell me, heroes, why are you in my time? The shadow isn't here."
"Heroes-" Legend scoffs, "We didn't tell you. How did you know? Are you a witch?! Are you-"
"Calm down. I'm old enough to recognize the demeanor and haunted look of a chosen hero. Am I not?"
Wild just nods along with her, "She seems to know most things. It's easier not to ask how."
The group shares a look, some more willing to trust than others.
"The portal brought us here." Wind says, far more willing to trust than most of the others. He figures there's nine of them, and besides, Wild doesn't trust bad people.
"Portal? Odd... Those shouldn't be happening- though to be fair you all shouldn't be here either... Oh Wild! We should see if your slate picked up anything!"
"Just pictures."
"Pictures? Well that's worth something if I recall. Maybe you all ended up here to rest."
"yeah, because our Hyrule is so restful." Wild rolls his eyes, elbowing the woman beside him harshly.
"It is when you don't lose your races."
"That was once!"
"Ten times, actually. It's not my fault you broke your shield."
"Ugh."
"What does- breaking a shield have to do with- losing a race?" Hyrule asks, already sure the answer is going to be ridiculous.
"Shield surfing, when your shield breaks you get a nasty wipe out. Here look at this!" Myrah grins, turning so they can see a nasty scar on her right shoulder blade, her gerudo armor top showing it off with ease.
"Shield surfing. Really? You got pulled into his shenanigans?" Legend raises a brow.
"Mine?' Wild laughs outright, "Myrah drags me into them."
"It's fifty fifty and you know it!" She defends again, laughing this time.
"You're insane. Aren't you?" Legend accuses.
"Probably. I think it comes with trauma."
"That's how I got so good at sparring." Warriors says, "Trauma doesn't make you insane."
"It can." Myrah smiles softer, sadder again. She seems to be thinking about- someone?- she knows.
"Anyways, we should totally all go dive off Shatter back point! Oooh- and see Riju. You'd like seal surfing. Way safer." Wild says, already seeming to plan their next few days.
"But first, you should all rest. Go make sure you see Cotera heals you up."
"Cotera?" Hyrule echoes.
"Yes, the great fairy nearby. She's a sweetheart."
"We should stock up on faries then." Sky says, a lot less used to faries than the others.
"Yeah, probably so." Twilight agrees.
Myrah just watches, her eyes clouding with something the others either don't see- or recognize to well. She knows something about how this all ends.
After they've all eaten, and the dishes have been washed, the chain minus Wild all go to the inn down in the village. Getting themselves rooms and bathing before the turn in.
Time is left staring up at the ceiling, wondering about what Myrah knows. After his time with the Ocarina and replaying everything over and over... He knows what premonition is and the difference between intuition and knowledge about it.
He can believe she's over a hundred years old, the way she talks- it seems too wistful to genuinely be nineteen.
But she's been kind so far, and she's helped Wild.
So Time will give her space, allow her the time needed to gather thoughts before he confronts her for answers.
But either way- Time is sure this is going to end up with her helping them. Whether physically joining them on their adventure or sending them off with supplies and kind words.
He'll have to talk to Wild in the morning to see if the other knows anything.
.......
Wild is a lot easier to track down then Time expected, the other settled outside Myrah's house hanging laundry to dry.
Myrah is there too- which- odd.
"Wild." Time says, "Can I talk to you?"
"Sure." Wild says, not bothering to move away from his task.
Time eyes Myrah- she's weeding her flowerbeds, not looking up at either man's voice.
"I think he meant somewhere else." Myrah says as she wipes her hands on her pants before trying again at the pesky weed.
"Oh! Uh sure. Where did you want to talk?"
Time just nods to the other end of the forest, "The shrine nearby is good."
"Okay. Well, come on." Wild says, leading Time away and towards the shrine between them and Kakariko village.
The walk in silence, Time watching the nervous energy around Wild with suspicion.
Wild knows something too.
They stop by the shrine, and Wild turns, eyes roving over Time in appraisal. "You have questions."
"I do. Myrah knows something about all of this. What does she know?" Time asks, not trying to be rude but he needs to know if she's dangerous.
"She won't tell me." Wild says with a sigh, "I asked and all she said was it's a family thing."
"How does her family play into our quest?"
"I'm not sure. But she lived through the time I was- she's old enough to have knowledge I don't..."
"Who is her family? Are they old, or important?"
Wild sighs, bracing himself to revisit past failures.
"She's part of the Gerudo chief family. She never took the title- but she's Riju's aunt for everyone's purposes. She- was Lady Urbosa's niece."
"Was she ever supposed to be chief?"
"yes. But she didn't want to and her cousin and nieces did."
"That still doesn't explain why she looks at us like she knows how we die." Time says evenly.
"I don't know much- but she's always said her family had twilight in their blood. It doesn't mean anything to me... But she said it like it was more than a time of day."
Time stops short- he'd heard enough of Twilight's tale to know that the Twili people are certainly a race. And that it could be that- he doesn't know enough about the race of Twilight's adventures to know powers that could be passed down.
"Well... Is she trust worthy?"
Wild smiles a little at that, "Of course she is."
"I trust your judgement then... But I will be talking to her about this."
"I know. She said she expected as much."

Happy WBW! 🧙 - If your world has magic users, can anyone use magic or is it something they are born with?
Happy Worldbuild Wednesday! Thank you so much for the Ask, @pluttskutt!
Happy WBW! 🧙 - If your world has magic users, can anyone use magic or is it something they are born with?
Oh, boy, do I have an answer for this! In my main WIP, The Last Wrath, magic - and therefore multiple forms of spellcasting - is something integral to the continent of Agrannor, where the story takes place.
Let's start from the beginning:
In the dark fantasy world of TLW, the lands of Agrannor, magical talent is a very varied concept.
For Mageborn (humans born with magical blood): They are born with pure magic in their blood, which means they have a natural connection to the ancient magic sources that once flowed freely throughout the lands. Those spellcasters are much more powerful and innately talented than any human sorcerer can ever hope to be naturally. Also, they are rather different from humans in many cultural traits, but also in their physical appearance (eye color, hair color, etc.), especially when it comes to the striking Mageborn "runic markings" that naturally occur the more a mage practices their power. Their magic comes from within them and rarely requires the assistance of external means. Since their magic is an inherent part of their blood - something they're born with, they can use their magic without the need for casting runes (though some, more tricky, spells require the use of rune casting) and usually have a connection with a specific type of magic they use to power their spells
E.g. You can be a Nightshaper, a mage who harnesses their magic from the power of the night - the darkness, the stars, the moon, the cold, etc - to cast their spells. In TLW, Vallerius Zyndrosar is a Nightshaper mage.
You can be an Icebringer, a mage who harnesses their magic from the power of winter - the ice, the wind, the stillness, etc - to cast their spells. In TLW, Cyprian Naras is an Icebringer.
You can be a Naturemorph, harnessing your powers from nature itself - from plants to stone, the very dirt you walk on and the heartbeat of earth, etc. In TLW, Myrah Faron is a Naturemorph.
Among many other types of mages.
For the Non-Magical People of Agrannor: Humans are not born magically talented, having little to no natural connection to the ancient magic sources (though some have what is called a "magical affinity" which means they have a slight connection the the Sources, and more chance to succeed should they choose to follow that path). They can, however, become sorcerers or wizards. In Agrannor, a sorcerer relies on an external source of magical powers (usually an artifact, a magically imbued runic weapon, potions or an artificial rune-engraved tattoo/marking) to harness and use magic, and it will never be a natural part of them like it would be for a mage.
Usually, in Agrannor, most of the magic for said artifacts is harnessed from natural sources, such as magical crystals, or magically rich environments, without causing harm to anyone. A talented sorcerer can have a magically imbued tattoo/marking engraved in their skin - usually in their arm - giving them free access to their trained powers anytime they need them. Zephyr Tellian is the most notable human sorcerer in Agrannor, born in the Fallen Kingdom of Eldon, Zephyr was a remarkably magically-talented child, with a strong magical affinity, and got his runic mark early on from the Eldonian Order of Sorcerers, before being forced to flee the fallen kingdom. Yuna Thyren is also a sorcerer in TLW, and her powers come from her runic weapons - crafted by herself - and her mystical heritage.
UNFORTUNATELY - There is a darker side of (some) Human Spellcasting (which some villains in TLW seem to fall under): Recently, some human sorcerers started wanting more power than their artificial magic (artifacts, potions, markings, etc) ould give them. In the Morosyn Empire (one of the regions of Agrannor), the Temple of Radiance enforces the Radiant Hunts, which capture mages to harness the magic from their blood - a cruel and vile initiative that is deeply despised outside of the Morosyn lands. Such Hunts also go after Elves, Faeborn (Faeries), and Merfolk, basically targetting anyone talented enough (according to the Temple's doctrine, the more powerful the spellcaster, the more power can be harnessed from their blood). The Bloodharvest Rituals always kill the captured mages, but the Temple doesn't care - as long as it gets what it is looking for. Such is the reality for many magically talented people in the Morosyn Empire. Most of the Imperial human sorcerers often use this cruel system to become more powerful through artificial magic created from the Bloodharvest. most of the Imperial army is equipped with advanced weaponry powered by the magic harvested from the crooked hunts.
Another important distinction:
Pure Magic - the magic carried by the Mageborn and the other sentient magical species of Agrannor. Being something they're born with, it is completely natural and stems from the nature around them and the ancient sources.
Artificial Magic - The magic used by most of the human sorcerers and magic warriors in Agrannor. It can have two origins:
It can be harvested from nature (usually from some of the sources itself) - Taken from the ancient natural sources, this magic is usually carefully collected from the environment and used to power the sorcerer's runic tattoos, artifacts/amulets/runic weapons, and power-inducing potions. Being derived from pure magic, it is usually good and does not harm others in the process it takes to achieve it.
Blood Magic - Also known as "vile magic", artificial blood magic is the one harnessed from actual people, a practice enforced by the imperial Temple of Radiance. It gives the user a much more dangerous and raw power, creating much more deadly runic weaponry. Due to its cruel and despicable origins, causing inexcusable harm to innocent people, it is an inherently evil form of artificial magic.
Dark/Corrupted Magic - Dark magic is a form of natural/Pure magic, derived from the corruption of the natural ancient magic sources and of magical phenomena around the continent. The corruption of magic is caused by the actions of the Secret Court (an ancient order of corrupted sorcerers who seek to rewrite the world in blood), and is extremely dangerous, unstable, and deadly. It also causes the existence of Fallen Ones - mageborn, faeborn, elves, etc - who are born with the natural magic already tainted by darkness, for the source with which they were connected was corrupted before their birth.
For other sentient (non-human) magical races in Agrannor - Elves, Merfolk, Vampires/Dhampirs, and Faeborn are all born with an inherent connection to the magic around them, being made from it, and have to train their spellcasting skills like any mage seeking to improve their innate abilities.
There are magical academies and orders that exist to train magically talented people - be it mages or sorcerers - and all of them have different approaches to the learning/teaching process and what kind of spellcasters they'll train.
NOTE:
The Secret Court - Formed during the Ancient Wars - a vast conflict that tore the continent apart millennia before the current story even takes place - they sought to learn how to control and utilize the strangely occurring dark magic phenomena around them, creating the most dangerous form of magic that would late serve as their weapon of war against the continent. Even after their perceived defeat by Dawn Knight Abavven Ashiren, all those years ago, they continued working from the shadows - corrupting the ancient sources and twisting the minds of the weakwilled - until their return in the current age of Agrannor. Anyone can become a member of the Secret Court, if tainted by dark magic, and become just as - if not more - powerful than any untainted mage. Dark magic twists the very nature of a being, becoming one with them. It is an extremely vile and dangerous practice that is outlawed - for good reason - in all regions of Agrannor.
So, in short:
Mageborn - humans born with a natural magic affinity to the ancient sources of magic in nature.
Sorcerers - non-magic humans who use artificial means to gain access to magical powers.
Blood Sorcerers (and Hunters) - non-magical human spellcasters who harness their powers from the blood of magically talented individuals. A cruel and unforgivable practice.
Other Sentient Magical Species - Elves, Faeborn (faeries), Vampires & Dhampirs and Merfolk. Non-human species who are naturally born with a connection to magic.
Fallen Ones - mages (or other sentient magical species) who are born with dark magic powers, because the magical source they or their parents were connected to was corrupted unknowingly before their birth. An accidental aftermath of the unholy work of the Secret Court, they can be good people, though their powers often consume them.
The Secret Court - Dark Sorcerers and Mages who choose to use corrupted/tainted magic as their source of magical power. Also unforgivable.

I really liked Razor Rabbit! It was so cool and stylish, with a interesting story. I like that there's a few ways to look at it's characters! If you do more with these characters, I'll be happy to see them, but as it is, it was a delightful little comic
I'm planning on a lot more with them!! thank you so much for commenting, im really proud of it cus its longest finished comic project... Next I'm planning on doing the first chapter, which is focused around the rat babies meeting Myrah. This chapter was a sort of "pitch" for the comic for me to test my process and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Development Project 1 - Week 2
This week I began with concepting for the project. I did few rough sketches of how I want the scene to be.
Tumblr media
Then I began basic blockout of the tree house in maya. It didnt take much time as it was pretty much basic shapes that I had to make. I wanted to make the treehouse much more personal by adding various personal objects or belongings to the kid.
I actually build a story that I wanted to present in my scene. This treehouse is a happy place of a kid named Myrah. She sneaks out of her house to come to this happy place of her's where she loves to draw and play around.
Sticking to the story line, I am planning to do the interior of the house as well which will deliver the story even more, if time allows. For now, I have finished the basic blockout of the house.
The major conflict to me was to model the tree or to download it. Downloaded trees were not going exactly well with the house I built and modelling a tree would take a lot of time and effort. I looked into speedtree as well, but as it was not available, I couldnt use speedtree to build my tree.
youtube
I found out that speed tree was much more easy and quick way to get a really good output.
I also tried sculpting tree in zbrush.
Tumblr media
After the sculpt I took the mesh to maya for retopo. But, retopo was really time consuming and tough because of lots of branches. So, I am still deciding on whether to use this model for my project or not. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the process of sculpting.

"Yeah, these heart-shaped cookies are real good. Hahaha, I can't believe anyone would not like these. What! yeah, he is a jerk. I don't even remember what I saw in him, probably his arrogance. Bye, Ttyl!" This was Alice talking to her bestie, Tessa, on the phone while eating her favorite heart-shaped cookies. Alice is a normal 'Popular' teen girl who lost her boyfriend a month, after finding that he was cheating on her. Her friend group is the most popular in the school. Her group consists of Tessa and her boyfriend Ryan, Syrah, and her twin Myrah, Nate, and his girlfriend who he broke up with last month after finding that she was cheating on him with Alice's boyfriend. "Alice, dinner is ready" Her mom's sweet voice pulled Alice out of her thoughts. Her father had left her and her mother to live with another woman. After that, her mother drowned herself in her work to forget about her father and take care of Alice. Alice ran down the stairs to the dining table as because of work her mom would rarely be home or spend time with her. " Hmmm, it smells delicious." "Tastes delicious too." Alice takes a bite of lasagna. " Hmmm, it does." She makes a thoughtful face. "Suspicious" "What?" Her mother asked with a smile."Did you really make this ?" "Well, now isn't the answer too obvious to ask?" "Oh! yes, it is. NO" " Come on, I spent hours trying to make a lasagna specially for you and this is how you repay me," Her mother said dramatically. " Dramaqueen" "I am serious" "WHAT? noways mom he was Harry's godfather and a wizard and a dog and a marauder!" "Grunts I am not Sirius I am, serious" "Tell the truth" "Fine, you win. I brought it from the restaurant in the neighborhood" "The restaurant owned by Mr. Carter?" Alice asked wiggling her eyebrows. " Shut up," her mother said blushing and both of them burst out laughing. Mr. Carter was Alice's mother's friend. After her father had left Mr. Carter had helped them move into this home. He had helped them with many things, like buying furniture and finding a job for her mother. After dinner Alice helped her mother by cleaning the table and dishes all by herself. After cleaning up she went to the living room to find a book to read when she found her mother waiting for her there. " You didn't sleep yet?" She asked to her mother confused. " No, I needed to talk to you. Come sit" Alice sits on the sofa near her mom. " Continue" " sighs Tessa told me about Ethan" Alice was shocked but not wanting to upset her mom she acted as if she didn't know what she was saying and said "I I don't know w what you are talking about. She p probably pranked on y you" She let out a a half- hearted laugh " Well, leave it now. Good night" And got up to walk to her bedroom. " Everything is gonna be ok. Anyways he wasn't worth you" her mother said from behind her. She felt her mother get up and walk towards her. She hugged her. "Thanks" Alice said. Her mother gave her sad smile. And the other and daughter duo snuggled just like they had that night…

A light knock on the door to his study caused Magnifico to raise his head from the building plan he had spread over his desk. It had taken him two years to build his entire palace but his kingdom was ever growing. Much to his delight and stress. More people to protect was just what he wanted, but being a king - such of the kind he chose to be - was more tasking than he'd ever imagined. Not that he complained. Magnifico hardly ever complained and if he did, he had a damn good reason.
As a young boy, he'd once asked his father if it was hard to be king. As much as Magnifico could remember, he'd always looked up to his father. Arik, who'd ruled his kingdom with deep wisdom, patience, immense love and the right amount of strictness. And while Arik had told his son that yes, it was hard sometimes, he also assured him that it was also a great gift. A gift that wasn't just a big responsibility but an opportunity. He'd even exclaimed that surely his son would be an even greater king one day.
A great expectation to live up to. But if ever someone was determined, it was Magnifico. Giving up wasn't in his vocabulary. He had solidified his goal in his mind. A goal that had formed one fateful night thirteen years ago. From the shards of his shattered heart and the depths of his agonized soul.
"Yes?" He called while letting a book about different kinds of building materials levitate to him.
"Your Majesty?" A gentle male voice exclaimed, followed by a head peeking through the gap in the door, "I hope I'm not disturbing.”
Magnifico immediately smiled at the sight of the man. "Thomás! My friend! You're never disturbing me. Come in!"
Upon the welcoming wave of the king, Thomas closed the door and passed over to the desk with an amused chuckle. "Got your head stuck in work again?"
"Well, I need to build more homes."
The young father leaned closer to examine the king's plans. "You know ... you could hire a builder for all this work. You're already doing so much for us. More than any other king would."
"I'm not just any other king." Magnifico replied calmly while scribbling down a few more notes. "I have to make sure each home is absolutely safe. The best way I can do that is by building them myself."
Thomás almost reiterated the statement that his king - as benevolent and altruistic as he was - in fact, worried too much, but his gaze had wandered to the scorched rug on the wall behind the desk and he bit his tongue.
Magnifico never directly spoke of the exact horrors he'd suffered as a young boy - anything that sort of matter - he revealed only as much as was necessary for someone he trusted enough to hear.
Not to forget that anyone blessed with a clear mind could conclude on the burned fabric that there must have been a terrible inferno involved. A tragedy beyond grasp that had wiped out an entire royal family and destroyed a kingdom. And for what?
Thieves, cold blooded barbarians had been the reason for that nightmare Thomás didn't wish on his worst enemy.
And exactly that was why he admired and adored Magnifico so much. Despite the deep trauma - that had been inevitable - he didn't focus on himself but rather dedicated all of himself to care more for others.
Thomás had never met a man that self-sacrificing and fiercely protective of others just as he was of his wife and daughter.
Magnifico feverishly was after making sure everyone around him was safe and well at all costs. If someone from his citizens needed help, he came running. He'd bent backwards to ensure everyone was as safe, happy and content as can be.
But sometimes Thomás worried about the king's seemingly bottomless selflessness. People could be greedy, ungrateful and selfish beings and oftentimes such limitless kind heartedness was easily used. And Magnifico didn't deserve to be used.
The young father's gaze shifted to the large glass wall opposite to them.
"How's your family?" He heard Magnifico ask him after a while. "Oh, actually pretty well. Only some little issues here and there. Asha's sick. You know, the flu. Kid's catch that stuff easier. I told her not to play in the rain too long."
The king shifted his cape and wandered around his desk toward the glass wall with a smile. "I can help you with that!"
In awe, Thomás watched as Magnifico swiped his hand through the air with elegance. The dark glass doors slid open and revealed the king's laboratory and room of the wishes.
The wishes - or better said - dreams of the citizens of Rosas, floating at the ceiling in forms of light blue balls.
"Come in, Thomás. It's ok!"
Gaping at the ceiling, he entered. He'd known the dreams of people were in here but seeing those balls was fascinating. Just as fascinating as the fact they were there in the first place. Protection.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course." Magnifico replied as he strode behind one of his alchemy counters, taking out a few glass containers with different colored powders from a secret shelf in the stone wall opposite to them. "Anything."
"Does everyone have to give their wish to you in order to stay in your kingdom?"
The king paused briefly before lifting his head over his shoulder in surprise. "Of course not!" The reply came with a hint of slight indignation and firmness. "It's a get to, not have to." He turned around entirely, putting some of each powder in a bowl to mix it, "But I do prefer to have the wishes so I can make sure I can protect each and everyone as efficiently as possible."
And it was true. He never took any dream or wish without the consent of its holder. It was a free choice, not a requirement in order to stay in Rosas.
"People give me their wishes willingly. I'd never force anyone to do anything. Trust is earned and I highly value trust.”
"I understand." Thomás gestured, "But would you ever consider giving a wish back, if you chose not to grant it?”
"I could." Magnifico replied plainly, "but that would completely miss the whole purpose. People carry hopes and dreams, and more often than not, they cannot make those dreams come true on their own. It secretly weighs them down and they worry about it. Just as I worry about them being safe. If I give them back ..."
"Then you'd lose that piece of control to make sure they're as safe as can be." Thomás knew that initially, it wasn't fully right for a single person to have full control over other people's dreams, but Magnifico's intentions were pure.
"The people who give me their wishes know that it isn't a guarantee that they'll be granted. Even though I try to grant as many as I can. Considerately, that is."
"That's a very heavy burden though, Magnifico. One person alone shouldn't carry that much alone." Thomás watched the king's brows draw together slightly and his lips slimming.
"This is what I've decided for myself!" Magnifico retorted with a hint of sternness. "I choose this path for a reason. Everything I do is for this one purpose." He finished creating the medicine for Asha and approached his friend. "What happened back then can never repeat. Not as long as I can prevent it!"
Thomás mustered the king and his heart hurt. Magnifico's trauma ran way deeper than he could comprehend and a tiny fear whispered at the edge of his consciousness. Fear for the king's well-being. Untreated trauma would lead to more suffering down the road.
"I didn't mean to upset you." He exclaimed to which his opposite began to smile softly.
"I know." Magnifico sighed, "I just ... I ... I never again want to see someone's life getting destroyed ... hopes and dreams shattered ..." his gaze lifted to the ceiling and he reached his arm up, letting a few blue balls come down to his hands. "Let me show you something.”
Thomas came closer to have a better look.
"Some wishes are good, some are bad and some don't make much sense. Like this one! This woman - Carla Dubois - wants her house to be made out of cake! Granting this wish is not only impractical, it's potentially dangerous. Yes, I could give such wishes back, sure,” Magnifico frowned, “but then what? She would carry around that dream and eventually try something that could lead her to danger!" closing his eyes, he shook his head. "Granting wishes is only one part of the whole reason. I want my people not only to be absolutely safe here, I want them blissful and carefree! They have the opportunity to give me one of their wishes, I'll protect it, eventually grant it and make them forget about it so they won't have to worry."
Thomas' expression fell slightly. Another wish showed an elderly lady wishing to die and meet her already deceased son and husband again. A painfully sweet desire.
"This is Elena Costas. I understand she misses her son and husband dearly, I understand it more than anything, but she has a big family around her that loves her and still has some years to live and enjoy. I can't kill her. Forgetting that wish is actually for her best. It benefits her. I see her around often, she's so much more carefree and happy now."
The third wish showed a man wanting to climb the tallest mountain on earth.
"Mathias Rossi. He's got a nice wish. Truly." Magnifico shrugged his shoulders apologetically, "but even with the best equipment, he could fall to his death, suffer from loss of oxygen, get hypothermia and freeze ... too many dangers. Recently, I suggested that he should check out climbing our local mountains. I provided him with some equipment and a group of experienced climbers. He's content, happy and loves to ramble about his trips. He's not missing his dangerous wish."
Thomas sighed quietly as the young king let the wishes float back to the ceiling.
"Do you understand why I can't give them back?”
"I do, but ..."
“But?”
"You worry so much about others .... but I worry for you!”
Magnifico's face relaxed into baffled surprise but then his expression saddened.
"You care for others exceedingly, but who cares as much for you? You'd give your life for any of us without second guessing ... who'd-"
"I'm fine, Thomás!" Magnifico quickly retorted, his tone sharper and sterner than before. "I can handle myself."
The young father's stomach tightend as Magnifico passed him. It was painful to see him withdrawing himself behind an invisible wall. His colder, tense demeanor was a clear signal for Thomás not to push any further. The king had softly marked his line, and Thomás knew better not to overstep it.
"Here." Magnifico closed the glass walls and handed Thomás the little glass vial with the medicine as he had caught up to him. "Give this to your daughter twice over the course of two hours. She should be fine by tomorrow."
"Thank you, your majesty." Thomás bowed, "I'll leave you to yourself now."
Magnifico only nodded in reply. Already back behind his desk.
Somehow, Thomás wished he could ease the sudden tenseness between him and the king but he didn't know how. "Take care, Magnifico." He said before moving to the door.
Just before he left, the king lifted his head once more, giving Thomàs a pained yet thankful smile. Smiling back, the young father left the study. Wondering how many were actually able to read the depths of hurt in the king's soul from the ocean of his eyes.

Happy STS! 💜💌 What role does symbolism play in your WIPs, if any? What symbols relate to certain characters, events, or emotions? How do you decide what symbols to use, or what these symbols mean? Are they intentional, or do you notice them after they've appeared in the story? :) - @liv-is
Happy Storyteller Saturday! Thank you for the lovely Ask, @girlfriend-champion!
Questions - What role does symbolism play in your WIPs, if any? What symbols relate to certain characters, events, or emotions? How do you decide what symbols to use, or what these symbols mean? Are they intentional, or do you notice them after they've appeared in the story?
What role does symbolism play in your WIPs, if any?
I guess that symbolism does play a large role in quite a lot when it comes to The Last Wrath. It is rather important to the story, I would say, and it usually helps establish a sense of what certain groups of characters represent and why, while avoiding too much exposition where it is not needed. It also happens to be something very cool to write!
2. What symbols relate to certain characters, events, or emotions?
FOR CHARACTERS:
If I were to give a clear example of the use of symbols in my work, there are the Gilded Vipers, who basically are Ellinor's closest friends and an elite team of assassins. I choose the symbolism of "Vipers" for their moniker because they slowly became known throughout the Morosyn Empire for their meticulous and incredibly swift attacks, with a tendency to be deadly and unpredictable - much like a viper's strike. They also are known for "slithering away unseen" into the shadows once the damage is done.
Animal symbology is quite present in The Last Wrath - for a variety of reasons.
Another example of this would be the "White Raven", a nickname that was given to Cassander Fynn by his peers due to his secretive and mysterious nature, as well as for his vengeful tendencies (Ravens are often associated with mystery and secrecy on their own, and the White Ravens are much more elusive. Plus, ravens are also known to hold grudges for what can be a lifetime, hence vengeful). Ansell Kallik - Princess Ellinor's bodyguard and second in command of the Gilded Vipers - is associated with the symbols of an Owl. Also, he is often associated with the figure of a "wraith" or a haunting, by his enemies, for his deadly reputation in battle. Peregrine has the symbol of a fox etched onto the chest plate of his armor.
Myrah is often associated with the image of wild, untamed, feral nature, namely plants, vines, and moss.
More thematic/subtle symbolism is also present often in my works.
For example, Nethen Fahris is usually associated with tarnished gold - which serves to foreshadow the fact that, while he pretends to be on the side of the Empire, his intentions are not quite what they seem, hence the tarnishing/mockery of the Imperial color gold. The Secret Court is often represented by a sharp and cold winter wind, a harbinger of a storm or blizzard yet to come. Their emblematic colors are often blood red, sheer white, and iron gray, the red being the main color while the others compliment it - especially in the Fortress of Vadronia. The Secret Court is also associated with ash and embers, a reference to the fact that their form of magic consumes everything in its wake - especially since corrupted magic often presents itself in the story as something that looks a lot like dark ash and sizzling embers - which is made very clear by the fact that their current leader is known as the Ash Queen. The Guild of Assassins is almost always associated with very intricate masks (often literal and figurative, as people's masks are not limited to physical ones, but mental/emotional ones as well in Agrannor)
Celestial bodies (and moments) are usually associated with some of the characters. Julyan is strongly associated with the symbol of the sun. Raelen is vaguely associated with the symbol of dawn. Vallerius is associated with the night and moon. Elyren is literally referred to as "The Shooting Star of Zynlataell". Darian Caelestis' surname directly translates into the word celestial and is directly associated with the figure of the Sky.
For examples of events associated with symbolism:
Raelen's memories of an event in her early past are once described as "a comforting firelight's warmth being overtaken by a biting winter chill, and hopelessness that was only held back by the smallest of flames". (It refers to the moment when she and her older brother had lost their parents and were forced to flee from everything they'd ever known to survive the assassins sent for them.)
Oryon associates the betrayal he suffered in his past with drowning in an endless murky sea and wishing for it to finish him off - which while it is actually a very clear representation of what happened to him too, as after he was betrayed he was thrown overboard from his ship and left to drown, it also serves as a metaphor for his feelings, and how a part of him died (drowned) that day and he became a new person still haunted by it. The color blue and light grey are also often associated with this character, for this very reason.
It is offhandedly implied that the last time Tanwin and Darian had peacefully seen each other, before the invasion of Ergyre by the Morosyn Empire, they were talking under a tree that could very well be the Agrannorian version of a Weeping Willow. Those trees are almost always associated with grief and loss in some sort, and in this context, it is tied to the fact that they would never see each other for years after the next day, and when they meet again, they are not the same people they used to be (it is not an outright death, but it is still a loss. A loss of their friendship, and of the people they used to be). Willows are also associated with a new life, and that has multiple meanings in this scenario.
As Seira travels to a place with great importance to her past - which she had completely forgotten - the place is said to almost "rise from the early morning mist" (Which implies the fact that she now sees the truth). She also sees herself reflected in the broken shield of an important statue of an ancient figure in Agrannor (which I can't tell you now without spoiling the reveal in the book), a foreshadowing of her true origins as the shield is dull to her companion, and yet to her it reflects her image.
(I won't elaborate much on what this means for spoiler reasons but) Nyx never writes the ending to any of his songs, and usually leaves it unfinished - his friends usually try to write it, but it never comes out right. A neverending song, or a song whose story was cut short, fits his arc quite well.
Some of the villains are direct counterpoints to the good character's journeys and personalities, being a haunting reminder of what they could become under the wrong circumstances.
Morwan has twin battle axes with delicate pink roses carved and painted onto the blades. She is now a feared mercenary, but she never let's go nor forgets the lady she wished she could have been (and that she was) before she was scorned, and keeps her alive in those details in her current warrior's life.
How do you decide what symbols to use, or what these symbols mean? Are they intentional, or do you notice them after they've appeared in the story?
While most of it was intentional, some just simply come to me while developing the characters and their plots. In these cases, a vibe or aesthetic will come to mind, and I will trim down the options until I achieve the symbolism I want.
