you and abby are in the kitchen, cleaning, and she’s playing your shared throwback playlist through the bluetooth speaker. low by flo rida and t-pain comes on and you’re two coffees in and something just comes over you. abby laughs in shock as you get into it, doing everything from the running man to twerking as you put away the utensils from the dishwasher. you are in your own world, your own nightclub in the middle of the day. halfway through you gesture for abby to join you, making overexaggerated moves to make her laugh loudly. she quickly makes her way over to you, shimming her shoulders. you guys dance like you’re in middle school, half grinding, half just you guys doing a noncompetitive dance battle until the song fades. it’s embarrassing how out of breath you both are (shouting lyrics while dancing takes it out of ya) but once you guys make eye contact, you’re breaking out in giggles. she’s laughing so hard she almost falls over and seeing her stumble makes you laugh harder until you guys are even more out of breath.
“stop! it hurts,” abby whines out, clutching her aching abs.
you have to turn your back on her to stop the laughter from bubbling up.
“okay. whew! i think im done,” you halt another laugh when you turn around and see abby bent over. “oh my god are you good?”
“yeah” abby stands straight up. “that hurt my abs more than any gym session has. my god.” she breathes out. once you guys are on the safe side of the laughing fit, she pulls you into her body, arms resting on your shoulders. she rocks you guys as the playlist continues on in the background. it’s just the music for a minute before abby mumbles into the side of your head. “i wish i knew middle school you. i bet you won all the dance battles.”
you snort. “you are giving middle school me too much credit but thank you for saying i won our dance battle”
abby leans back. “i didn’t say you won.”
you put your index finger to her lips, shushing her.
“it’s okay baby. you can’t win every battle”
abby rolls her eyes halfheartedly.
“shuddup,” she says, but the word is soaked in the syrupy sweetness that she saves for you and you only.

christened nothing
i had a dream about this creature from Faith, but I don't remember if I ever posted about the dream online, so here's my tidbits:
The dream followed John wandering through a dark house, consistently muttering to himself under his breath. Gradually he became so panicked he was shouting, asking for help.
He walked through a door and became this creature, still shouting in desperation, but it seemed that he wouldn't be coherent to anyone but himself. There was a long hallway lined with the stick-dolls and it was apparent that Garcia was looking for him, presumably to kill him. There was a feeling of reluctant doom and terror.
This creature was specifically called The Nothing which I thought was interesting. Something that is so utterly nothing, so as to be named that, and yet being defined by that, given the title "The", its nothingness is so remarkable and defining so as to be something.
I didn't even know that this creature had any sort of name until I stumbled upon its Fandom page. (it's called The Wretch, which isn't much better...)

In the overture of silence, the velvet curtains flutter open//The encounter of moment and eternity shall commence
hellooo as you may have guessed this is another au piece of mine <3 i figured people might enjoy some context so you can find that right below!
to cut a veryyy long story short in this au Mika stumbles upon a young ballerina Shu practicing on her own one day and she's so entranced by it that it quite literally changes the trajectory of her life. obsessed with the thought of finding that beautiful girl again and sharing a stage with her one day, Mika practices hard to reach her level and hopefully obtain a scholarship at Tokyo's ballet school where she's sure the other must be headed
her hard work eventually pays off and with money she's saved up over the years she can support her new lifestyle in the capital. however she'll come to be very surprised when she finally crosses paths with that pink haired girl again not as fellow dancers, but as dancer and costume designer/maker. for some unknown reason Shu renounced the stage a few years prior, settling for this position instead and Mika is determined to drag her idol back on the stage where she belongs. she'll do everything in her power to untangle Shu's complicated past just to see her dance one more time

my silly book rec for today is Zoo by Otsuichi. its a collection of sci-fi/horror short stories and is one of the best short story collections ive ever read. it does deal with the themes of death pretty heavily as a heads up but its definitely worth reading (pdf link)
tws: suicide mentioned but not committed(in the stories "in a falling airplane" and "words of god"), self harm (in the story "words of god"), child abuse (in the story "kazari and yoko", it is the plot of the entire story), rape mentioned (not graphically but still) (in the story "in a falling airplane"), death (including animals, in pretty much all stories as the collection is by and large centered around death)

Ask meme!
I was tagged by @glowwormsmith! Thank you :)
Rules: Spell out your URL using song titles that can describe your muse/OC/pairings, then tag as many people as there are letters in your URL!
My URL isn’t the best for this game because it simply consists of the same two letters twice (I didn’t take the numbers into account), but I still scoured my entire music library to find titles that worked! I chose my OC Taylor Rook, John Seed, and the couple they form in my heart because of course I did. There are four letters in my username so I’m tagging four people: @cassietrn, @laindtt, @simplegenius042, and @strafethesesinners (only if you feel like doing this, of course)!
(Not all the tracks I wanted have lyrics, so I did this a little differently than you did and wrote a little “story” instead):
In Hope County, Taylor really became a “Lurking Danger” [Yoko Shimomura - Final Fantasy XV] and had to walk along many “Unfamiliar Paths” [Cliff Martinez - Far Cry 4]. John kept telling her, “Let The Water Wash Away Your Sins” [Dan Romer - Far Cry 5], but she remained “Untouchable” [Niels Bye Nielsen - HITMAN 2]. As for the Baptist, deep down, he was just a “Lost Child” [Brian Tyler - Far Cry 3], but on the outside, the thing most people noticed and talked about was his “Unsettling Aura” [Yoko Shimomura - Final Fantasy XV]. I wish he had had time to “Learn To Let Go” [Kesha - Rainbow]*, but all he did in the game was try to be “Unstoppable” [Sia - This Is Acting]*. Their story didn’t end well, so in another world, one that only exists in my head, they decide to “Let It Go” [Demi Lovato - Frozen] and stop being “Under The Gun” [Motörhead - Kiss of Death] all the time because I just want them to sing “Love Me Forever” [Motörhead - 1916]* and “Underneath Your Clothes” [Shakira - Laundry Service]* to each other instead!
*actually for these the lyrics also work

I have a. recommendation
it's an old(ish) song, but Antichlorobenzene (Owata-P) is. it has some gabriel vibes kicking around I think
(There's a video w english subtitles on youtube made by kanannon, or alternatively you can use the vocaloid lyrics wiki)
Tumblr media
ooooughhh yes absolutely i can see it, especially in terms of gabriel's ongoing (and possibly eternal) crisis of faith!!!
the complexities hinted at in gabriel's character are incredibly interesting and his multiple facets being presented from multiple sources make him a far-reaching presence that exists way beyond the scope of v1's perspective (appropriate for a character with a vast history we have no connection with). however, one of the more contradictory ideas we see is his treatment of those in hell - through the accounts in lust and greed, as well as the terminal entries for minos and sisyphus, we find a gabriel that cannot be reasoned with, that carries out the will of heaven with cold efficiency. however, in the accounts of limbo and wrath, as well as the terminal entry for the idols, we instead find a gabriel that appears to be the only one in heaven to care for the sinners in hell. because of this, two possibilities exist as to why this might be - perhaps gabriel harbors sympathy for the repentant, he doesn't believe in a fundamental disdain for sinners but instead believes they should be judged on how much they may regret their actions in life. however, this means he has no pity for the unrepentant and so has takes no issue in executing a king as fair as minos because his justice is divine, not human. alternatively, gabriel judges sinners on their own merits and, if their sins are not so grave or they truly have changed, he offers them comfort despite knowing such aid isn't meant to be extended to them. in this case, he brings an end to the lust renaissance due to his adherence to orders and against his conscience, as god's will must be done regardless of what he may feel.
no matter the case, one truth then remains inherent to gabriel's character - he doesn't fully accept the eternal punishment of the damned. whether it be based on repentance or smaller transgressions, gabriel does not believe hell is right in its execution...but as we now know, this exact thought process is what got lucifer exiled from heaven. and gabriel must have seen what happened to lucifer before him, so i think he quickly shut down his own conscience to function and remain favored. he became exceptionally hardworking, he grew as a fierce foe to god's enemies and a kind soul to all the citizens of heaven in part to cover up his heretical beliefs in a sense. he did everything he could to be perfect because this is god, this is the creator, he cannot possibly know better than the one that made him, made heaven, made the universe itself. he knows to even question it is a sin and he desperately wants to prove to god, himself, and everyone around them that he is not like lucifer, that his weakness in his faith will never sway his actions. and so he grows merciless when working and becomes a shining example to all angels...but quietly, when left to his own accord and without orders, he will protect those in hell and perhaps offer them a little respite.
this pattern of behavior continues well into the council's rule - sitting now in place of god, gabriel follows their orders to the letter as he has always done. but they are not god. they didn't create him nor this world, they are merely spirits made like himself, as secondhand from their author as he is. and i think this distance is crucial, this crack in their authority is a seed planted in the back of his mind even as he slaughters minos and sisyphus and forces the sinners back to their punishments. and when he fails against v1, that doubt finally germinates - god's light has failed, his absolute supremacy, wielded by gabriel to the best of his ability, has failed against a man-made machine. initially his mind defaults to self-blame as it always has, that the fault lies in himself, but that cannot hold throughout the second encounter. he fails again, and if he fails again, if he fails using his divinely-tempered swords and his righteous fury, then god's majesty has failed. his failure means it was all never absolute and the council can fail just as he has. suddenly "good" and "evil" are much more obscure, when he knows there were righteous sinners and now knows there are evil saints...and so gabriel is left only to follow his own conscience, the one that has always whispered to him, directed his private actions, but was smothered by his faith. he's well aware he doesn't have the answers, but he believes too now that no one does, that perhaps there aren't answers. or, alternatively, that the answer is the world is fucked up because a fallible creator made it, mistake after mistake piling on top of each other, and all he can do is try to finally be a true moral actor in what's left of it.

I Like You, And I Love Him, We Could All Be The Best Kind Of Friends
(Here I am shamelessly asking for some everlasting trio content because this ship has a death grip on me. Yes this is from the In The Middle song by dodie what abaut it?)
I Like You, And I Love Him, We Could All Be The Best Kind Of Friends
Ahhhhh I've never really written nor read any everlasting trio before, so let's see how this goes 😅 I'm trying from Tucker's POV
-
Danny's confused.
Luckily, Tucker isn't.
Sam's a little in denial, but that's just because she's a goth and she's convinced herself that goths don't have mushy feelings like this. Sure, she likes them both, doesn't go a day without talking to them and she always goes quiet whenever they bring up colleges and the possibility of having to split up the group, but that's just normal! She doesn't need to look any closer at any of these feelings, because she's a goth and all she needs is darkness and misery and maybe like her combat boots or something.
Luckily, Tucker can see through Sam pretty well by now, too.
He's never really thought of himself as the emotional center of the group, that's always been Danny in his mind. Danny's more empathetic, more protective of others—which only increased ever since he became Phantom (which Tucker is not at all jealous about, not any more, no thank you)—but these days...
These days, Tucker is having some doubts about where the real emotional maturity lies.
For all that he loves him (and he really does love him), Danny can be dense.
We're talking Grandma's chocolate cake levels of dense where it's a struggle to swallow around it, but it's sweet and tastes so much of home and comfort that you can't help but crave it constantly.
It's all:
"Aw, thanks bro, yeah, I love you too!"
"Yeah, you’re right, we would make a good couple! Bromance for the ages!"
"Yes, Tucker, you're dead gorgeous, too, now throw me the thermos!"
It's enough to make Tucker despair.
And if anything, Sam's worse!
The second you try to bring up feelings with her at all, she's making a snarky comment with her arms crossed and her nose up in the air. If she's in a particularly bad mood, she'll steal his beret and run off which happens so much that Tucker's taken to carrying a spare with him. There's no way you're going to make him run.
With Sam, it's more:
"The only thing I'm going to crush is you, Tucker!"
"Like-like? Tucker, I barely like anyone, let alone like-like."
"No, Tuck, it didn't hurt when I fell from Heaven—but I did chip a fingernail when I crawled my way up from Hell just to kick your ass, come here!"
So, talks are going well.
Who would have thought, who could have ever fucking dreamed that it would be Dash "Dumb as a Bag of Rocks and Just as Mean" Baxter to actually get the ball rolling?
There they are, sitting at their lunch table, Tucker with his head in his hands after another failed attempt while Sam and Danny argue over the best MAY song (it's 'My Parents Reek', but he doesn't have the strength to even begin with how they're wrong), when Dash passes by with Kwan in tow.
"Trouble in paradise? Guess even freaks of a feather don't stay together! You should kiss and make up, no one else is ever going to do it—not with your ugly face, Fen-toenail!" They walk away without waiting for an answer, their laughter echoing through the hall, and honestly that's about the best it could have gone. No one got hurt and Tucker can work with this!
"What a jerk, as if we're the ones that are going to end up alone," Sam scowls at his back.
"That's what I've been trying to say!" Tucker exclaims, throwing his hands in the air because he's kind of losing it right now, there are only so many hints one man can drop! "I like you, and I like him. You like him and I'm pretty sure you like me. Danny—"
"I like you both!"
Tucker sighs and puts his head back in his hands. It was too much to hope for. Poor, sweet, chocolate-y Danny.
"Danny, I like-like you..." His voice is muffled by his hands but that's fine, it’s not like this is going to get through to him anyhow. "You know, romantic styles."
"Oh... uh, romantic styles? I mean, I, uh..." Danny's face is beet red and he's rubbing the back of his neck like he always does when he's embarrassed. It would be cute if this wasn't the farthest Tucker's gotten in his confession for months. "Yeah, uh, tee moo. No, I mean, me too. Romantic styles, I mean... yeah. Both... of you. Too."
They both turn to look at Sam, who appears to have stopped working.
Her eyes are wide and the tofu wrap she's been eating slowly unravels and drips that gross tofu water down her arm.
Tucker knows it's love because he doesn't even mind that it's tofu. (Well, he does, but just a little bit, it's tofu! Have some integrity!)
The first thing that Sam whispers doesn’t fill him with confidence. "But you have such bad taste... You think 'Teachers Suck but the Government Sucks More' is the better MAY song, when it's obviously 'Screw Rent Screw Taxes (SEOBC)'."
Tucker wouldn't have put money on Danny being the first to fully understand his feelings, but he probably should have seen this coming.
"And you," she says, turning to Tucker, "eat meat and wear berets."
His gasp is as shocked and scandalised as those old ladies in the British costume shows his mom watches. "How dare you!Berets are classy and timeless and I will hear nothing against them. It's okay baby," he plucks the beret off his head to coo to it, "she didn't mean it, I promise."
"I can't believe I like you, too. Both of you." She sighs and fixes her wrap, licking up the tofu juice. "And your beret."

our flag means death teaser just dropped. they really did that. i will be screaming and crying for the rest of eternity
i haven't been feeling very well recently so i haven't gotten around to fanart yet, but i absolutely will as soon as i can!!
i have never been this excited about a second season of a show !!!!! it's kind of wild to me that it's a real thing that exists. so many cancelled shows have made me less optimistic for renewals, but it's incredible that this story is really going to continue !! the first season didn't really get any advertisement at all, it was all just by queer word of mouth. and i think that's lovely !! it just shows what we can make happen when we band together :] (it'd be even better if hbo max paid their writers and actors fair living wages though,, just saying,,) i can't wait to watch this silly pirate show and for online to be like march of last year again !! october 5th we're so back !! we're all in the brainrot again folks
will be yelling about the teaser in the tags just in case anyone who comes across this hasn't seen it yet, and if you haven't, go watch it !!

hometown hypocrisy
and the bloods beating down in the city tonight and no-one will ever sympathize with our plight try to get up, but we just fall down trying to escape this damn hometown
and we got fires burning in our souls and the scars to prove it, what do you know but the rains putting us out drowning our sparks and our shouts
and the fogs setting in rain against my skin and the sky's beating me down wandering my hometown and the roads gotten twisted the old life's gone, i missed it guess it is true, you can never go home again
and the bloods beating down in the city tonight and no-one will ever sympathize with our plight try to get up, but we just fall down trying to escape this damn hometown
and blood seeping through our clothes violence begets violence, don't ya know but these fists are my hometown pride gritted teeth and bloodshot eyes
and the fogs setting in rain against my skin and the sky's beating me down wandering my hometown and the roads gotten twisted the old life's gone, i missed it guess it is true, you can never go home again
'and the bloods beating down' is the 2nd chorus/prechorus [look i changed the structure but im not editing my analysis i dont want it to get longer]
'and the fogs setting in' is the [main]chorus [planned to use a diffrent tone to musicaly distinguish it from teh verses and pre/2nd chorus][is in italics]
and 'we got fires' is teh 1st verse and 'blood seeping thru our clothes' is the second
NOTE: should be spoken or sung for optimal beat with contractions, but for readability has been mostly uncontracted. also idk how to spell what do you know contracted right.
the chorus is much later in the singers life than the pre chorus & the two verses, the hypocrisy is that the singer wants to both escape and go back to his hometown.
the younger singer always uses plural, to symbolize community, until 'these fists are my hometown pride' almost at the end. he refutes the cycle of violence by owning his violence as part of himself- his link to his hometown.
in addition, he has become the active perpetrator of violence, [previous references were 'we all fall down' [something else to him] and 'we got the scars to prove it' which is implied to be violence perpetrated unknowingly to each other because of 'fires burning in our souls'- when they get close, they hurt each other unintentionally] he now links his sense of self to violence, and thus when he loses his ability to do violence, he loses his self, and his link to his hometown, becoming the older singer
but by doing this he also will inevitably refute his hometown, by linking it intrinsically to violence, becoming the older singer who sings the chorus when he can no longer have that link to his self or his hometown because he can no longer do violence [his inability shown by him being 'beaten down' by the rain/oppressive atmosphere], i did want to expand on this, writing more verses to show the fall and how he ended up as the chorus person but it didnt work. heres the scrapped third verse
but soon those fists turned weak what do you know? you aint at your peak stress and violence aint good for your heart and you find that your bodys now falling apart
it can also be seen as by growing up to become a perpetrator and someone with power, he is now distant from his people and community, the solidarity is formed from their shared victimhood so when he steps out of that/rejects it, he loses the community [also becoming part of the violent cycle means getting rejected] [also the chorus says 'twisted road' we dont know what happened to make him fall, thats up to the readers interpretation] [transmasc journey of realizing your masculinity then becoming ostracised][or disability]
"guess its true, you can never go home again" is the only exception to the rhyming scheme, and it gives it emphasis, it was more noticeable before the chorus was squished together [previously each half line was its own line until 'guess its true'] fuck it it can take up space on yalls dashboards its getting split again
'bloodshot eyes' can be interpreted many different ways, from crying to injury to rage, each suggesting different meanings and affecting the text in diffrent ways

god, "robbing banks" just came on in my playlist and like, do i even have to say it....
it's so trigun-core. i'm going insane.
my first thought was about wolfwood and his relationship with being a gung-ho gun. he's an attack dog, and dogs only get as vicious as he is after being violently abused. he's not afraid of doing the wrong thing because he's a cynical realist and he knows how the world works, no matter how much he might wish otherwise. and then he meets the gang and realizes just how wrong the things he's doing are. and now he can no longer stomach what he has done, what he has to do. (he does it anyway, because it's all he knows. but god he wishes he knew better, wishes someone would stop him, punish him, save him.)
but it could also be vash and his tendency of taking responsibility for the actions others take around him (and the destruction they inevitably cause). his refusal to condemn even the worst people has, contradictively, robbed a million banks, killed a thousand flies. (badlands rumble is literally about this.) not to mention he feels directly responsible for knives' actions. he knows that a lot of his brother's actions is done specifically get to vash. every victim is simply collateral in their sibling spat. the longer vash avoids him, the worst it's only going to get. in order to uphold rem's impossible ideal of love and peace, he has to confront knives. he has no other choice. it all comes back to him.
i just- please just listen to the song. i don't need to explain the lore to you, you already know it. just listen to the song and then the rest of autoheart's discography
