The Redbridge Hunts, Chapter 53 (Final Chapter)
Tumblr media
It was the day of Loki’s birthday and his party.
Loki was woken up, not so rudely, to Claire under the blanket giving him a blowjob. She then gave him his other presents, even though he joked that was more than enough.
She’d gifted him a scarf, a new briefcase for work. He’d been going on about wanting new knives in the kitchen for cooking, so she got him a brand-new set that was quite expensive.
His favourite present from her though was a history book he’d been looking for, there was only fifty made in the world and he’d been trying to get it for years. It even had a letter of authenticity along with it.
‘How…’ He was speechless and just kept staring at the book in shock.
‘I had a lot of help.’ Was all Claire said.
‘I am forever in your debt for this.’ Loki said as he grabbed her in a big bear hug, making her laugh.
‘Says the guy who got me a bloody car! A book doesn’t compare.’
‘It so does. You have no idea what I was prepared to do or sell for this book.’ Loki said seriously.
‘I dread to think, so I’m not going to ask.’ Claire dismissed and rushed to the kitchen.
She came back ten seconds later with breakfast she had prepared for him, but he was nose deep in the book already. Even placing the food down right by him didn’t get his interest.
In the end, she had to pluck the book out of his hands to get him to focus.
‘Sorry, darling.’ He chuckled.
‘I’m glad you’re so excited about your present.’ Claire laughed.
‘I'll try and leave it till tomorrow.’ He said, though did glance longingly at the book on the table.
‘I’m sure I could leave you alone for a few hours upstairs while I prep down here for the party.’ She teased as she sat down next to him.
‘No, I’ll help.’ Loki said as they began to eat.
‘You will not! You’re not preparing your own party. I’ve got Jessica and Louise coming to help.’
‘Oh?’ Loki raised an eyebrow.
‘Yeah. I figured it would be good getting Louise over early, so she can at least meet Jessica first. Then when people start to trickle in it might be easier for her. She hasn’t been in a room with more than like three people for years. I’m not sure how her confidence will be.’
‘Ah, of course. That’s a good idea. Let her know she can go upstairs whenever she needs, if she wants some time to herself at any point.’ Loki said.
‘I will.’ Claire nodded.
When Jessica and Louise arrived just after lunch time, Claire shooed Loki upstairs with his book. Which he didn’t put up much of an argument over.
Jessica and Louise instantly clicked, which Claire was so glad of. She had a feeling they would though. The three of them had a good time setting everything up for the party, including a few glasses of wine of course.
When people began arriving for the party, it wasn’t long before music was turned up and drinks began flowing. Claire had managed to get Loki downstairs without much of a fuss, especially when she teased him with the fact she wasn’t wearing knickers under her dress, then coaxed him downstairs.
When Matt arrived, Louise was speaking to Loki. Claire took Matt straight over to introduce her to him.
‘Matt, this is my sister, Louise. Louise, this is Matt.’ Claire grinned and motioned to Louise.
‘Hi, nice to meet you.’ Louise said with a smile.
She was nervous being around people she didn’t know, but she knew she was safe with Claire and of course with Loki. Meeting everyone as they arrived was easier than walking in to a bunch of people already there.
‘Nice to meet you too.’ Matt put his hand out towards her.
She hesitated, but then eventually did put her hand into his to shake hands, though it was a very quick hand shake before she retracted her hand. Loki internally cursed at himself for not pre warning Matt that she might be a little unsure around him at first.
Claire introduced her to all the others as they arrived too. So it wouldn’t seem obvious she was trying to hook them up. Though she did make sure they ended up back by Matt, so they could talk.
‘Remember, if you need space just say. You can go upstairs.’ Claire whispered to Louise.
‘I know, thank you. I’m fine, honestly. I know I’m safe with you guys. And everyone seems really nice.’ Louise assured her.
Louise, Claire, Loki, Matt and Spencer were together talking casually, when Louise became distracted looking over Claire’s shoulder. Claire saw her eyes widen.
‘Who is that?’ She asked in a little awe.
Loki and Claire turned around to see Chris entering, heading right their way.
‘Ah… That’s Chris, Loki’s brother.’ Claire told her.
Chris was halfway across the room towards them, but his eyes were locked on Louise, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. As he drew closer, Loki saw his nostrils flaring as he took in her scent.
‘Chris, this is my sister, Louise. Louise, this is Chris.’ Claire quickly introduced, though she wasn’t sure if he heard her or not because he was so focused on Louise.
Louise’s cheeks turned red as Chris stood on front of her, looking completely in wonder, Loki had never seen him look at someone like that before.
‘It’s lovely to meet you.’ Chris eventually spoke, his voice low and smooth.
‘Lovely to meet you, too.’ Louise squeaked out, she put her hand out towards him straight away without hesitation.
Chris took her hand in his and felt electricity shoot through his veins. He slowly lifted her hand and dipped his head down to kiss the back of her hand when she didn’t pull away.
Louise couldn’t take her eyes off of him, Loki sensed her heartbeat spike, but not in fear. He also sensed Chris’ heartbeat spike too. He looked at Claire and she looked at him, both sharing the same look.
‘Brother, I need a quick word.’ Loki said as he put his hand on Chris’ shoulder.
Chris only just managed to tear his eyes away from Louise to glance at Loki, Loki motioned towards the kitchen with his head. Chris reluctantly agreed and let go of Louise’s hand.
Louise’s skin was tingling where he had kissed her.
Loki dragged Chris into the kitchen and shut the door so they could have a little bit of privacy.
‘Please tell me what I think is happening, is not happening.’ Loki whined.
‘She… She’s my soulmate! I can feel it.’ Chris said breathless, unable to get his mind to work properly.
Claire entered the kitchen and shut the door behind her, to see Chris looking like he’d just found gold and Loki with his face in his hands.
‘Is she your soulmate?’ Claire squeaked.
‘This is not happening.’ Loki said firmly. ‘Not Louise! Anyone but her!’ He groaned.
‘She’s beautiful.’ Chris said, his voice was a little high, like he was in a trance.
‘To be honest, you are totally her type. Tall, dark, handsome, tattooed. Plus being a vampire… Heck, I’m surprised she hasn’t spread her legs for you already.’ Claire teased with a laugh.
‘We are trying to hook her up with Matt! Not whore her out to my brother!’ Loki argued.
‘Not going to happen.’ Chris growled low and turned to head back through to the living room.
‘Oh no… no, no, no!’ Loki chanted in a panic and darted after him.
Claire, however, had a huge smile on her face and she felt fuzzy in her heart for Louise and Chris.
Perhaps her match-making hadn’t worked out exactly as planned, but it seemed that her sister was getting a match anyway.
‘Oooo, we could double date!’ Claire said excitedly to herself as she rushed after them.

NOTE: There is a sequel! There's so SO much more to go with these guys. Instead of making it a super long fic, I thought a sequel would be better, which will become apparent why when I post the first chapter next week.

Reading list November 2023
Tumblr media
It's December and that doesn't just mean the Christmas season starts and it's the time for cozy evenings with candles, blankets and a hot chocolate, but also: it's time for another reading list.
It feels like it's been so long since Loki graced us with a new episode every week. I'm still not quite over the ending, although this interview did heal my poor heart a little, if only just a bit. I hope you're coping well with the ending. And now, happy reading.
✨And don't forget to reblog the storys you read to support all these lovely writers.✨

Summary: In Dante’s inferno, the Eighth Circle of Hell was reserved for liars, panderers, thieves and murderers.  For the criminal underworld it is an opulent London club, representing neutral territory where deals can be made, grievances aired and scores settled.
For the owner, Thomas Cross, it is his own private kingdom, one where he makes the rules and wields absolute authority. Recently, however, that authority has come under threat.  In order to maintain his standing and the Club’s ruthless reputation, it is imperative he find the perpetrator.
In this violent place, where lies are currency and everyone has their own agenda, who can he trust? Certainly not Verity Williams, the talented thief who has her own reasons for infiltrating his organisation.
Neither can deny the sparks that fly whenever they’re together, but if he’s not careful, will those sparks burn down everything he’s created?

London council seeks developer for £500m Ilford scheme
The London Borough of Rebridge is on the hunt for a development partner to deliver its ambitious town centre regeneration plans.
It aims to form a joint venture with a private sector partner to deliver the Ilford Western Gateway – a residential-led, mix-use development including up to 1,000 homes, alongside commercial and community space.
The Council has developed a spatial framework for the Western Gateway site, which puts public realm first and green connected spaces at the heart of its plan.
Tumblr media
It has also committed to investing in the realignment of the road gyratory, creating more of a street network, which will in turn unlock the vision for the Western Gateway.
The Council will invest its land into the JV and provide additional cash for development where required.
The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, said: “We’re on the cusp of creating a revitalised town centre for local people to enjoy.
Tumblr media
“Our vision is to inspire positive change by creating a healthier, more sustainable Ilford that’s ready to thrive. What’s essential is that we recreate a neighbourhood experience accessible to cyclists and pedestrians and provides a seamless connection to the rest of Ilford Town Centre.
“The Ilford Western Gateway will make the town centre greener and much more accessible, whether by foot, cycle, or via Crossrail. It will also create up to 2,000 jobs by constructing new homes, and flexible community and commercial spaces at ground level and better links with heritage buildings in the area.”
Interested firms have until 9 August to lodge an interest with shortlisted developers invited to bid in mid September.

The links effect
Yes, it's been another one of those weeks, so today's newsletter again resembles the old style Warning: Graphic Content - mainly links. (Which is probably what you're here for, rather than my ramblings, in any case!)
A few things to highlight. I'm looking forward to digging into the National Audit Office's new report on the challenges of using data in government. Yvonne gave us a summary of what to expect in our June edition of Data Bites, which you can watch here.
Keep Wednesday 3 July free for the next Data Bites - invitations will be going out shortly. (Keep up-to-date with all the Institute for Government 's events by signing up to our newsletter.)
And keep an eye out for our latest Future Technology in Government weeknote later today.
Have a great weekend!

Boxing Day: Wrexham VS Salford City
Hello and I hoped that everyone had a good Christmas, I know I had because I was there. Today, I was reviewing Wrexham’s Boxing Day’s encounter with Salford City. It has been ages since I wrote a game review, due to the fact that I am back at college and there is a lot of assignments to do. However, as it’s Christmas I have decided to have a few days off assignments.
Wrexham is playing at home against Salford. I think we can win despite everyone knows Salford is rich due to Class ‘97 Manchester United, therefore, they can beat any team on their day. However, do you know what? It’s not about money, it is all about 90 minute of football.
We come into the game with confidence after progressing in the FA Trophy (3 - 0) and drawing the league game (0 - 0) after it. I know we got thrashed against Newport 4 - 0 but we were a man down after 12 minutes and we are a league below them. Before the Salford’s game, we are 3rd in the table with a win, we will be second and go above them by a point.
Salford is on a good form, winning their last 2 games out of 3. They were home against Dagenham & Redbridge and won 2 - 1 in their last game. Before that game, they also progressed in the FA Trophy after beating Gateshead 3 - 1 at home. Finally, the game which started 3-game run, they lost to Chesterfield 2 - 0 away. Adam Rooney is their top scorer with 17 goals to his name so far in this season.
Now, I will talk about the game.
We lined up like this:
18 Rob Lainton
3 James Jennings
5 Shaun Pearson
16 Brad Walker
13 Mark Carrington
30 Jake Lawlor
14 Paul Rutherford
20 Akil Wright
7 Luke Summerfield
23 Stuart Beavon
32 Bobby Grant
On our bench:
1 Christian Dibble
4 Manny Smith
29 Ben Tollitt
17 Nicky Deverdics
10 Chris Holroyd
Salford City lined up like this:
1 Chris Neal
2 Scott Wiseman
6 Carl Piergianni
3 Ibou Touray
23 Nathan Pond
18 Danny Whitehead
4 Gus Mafuta
11 Tom Walker
7 Matt Green
9 Adam Rooney
10 Danny Lloyd-McGoldrick
On their bench:
21 Devante Rodney
30 Rory Gaffney
12 Max Crocombe
15 Liam Nolan
5 Liam Hogan
I was up on the platform for today’s game. This game was good for the community from having a good crowd and a special bucket collection for Wheelchair Accessible Travel.
We only needed 3 minutes to score the opening goal of the match when Shaun Pearson’s head met the ball from a Luke Summerfield’s corner. Shaun had good power with the header beating Christopher Neal. We had chances to score the second 3 minutes later. However, the visitors managed to block Summerfield’s left-footed shot. Bobby Grant got it back but his shot was just wide.
Salford then was on the attack when we lost the ball. When Matt Green half-volleyed the ball but it went wide. In ninth minutes, Daniel Lloyd tried to get a goal back but Jack Lawlor managed to block the attempt and the ball went wide. 2 minutes later, we got the ball back and went on the hunt for the second goal when Brad Walker missed calculate his shot and it found Neal. Then James Jenning had a throw-in and threw the ball to Paul Rutherford. He was clear through and had a half-volley but Neal managed to save it.
Wrex the Dragon came up to the platform, I bet he was sent to the stands because he was always near our attacking goal during the first half of home games. I know it’s a bad joke. Anyway, we finally got our second of the match when Akil Wright lost the Salford man who was marking him, he headed the ball in after Summerfield whipped it in. I could see the shadow of Wrex celebrating the goal.
31 minutes on the clock, Neal lost the ball when he was pressed by Rutherford. The ball found the feet of Mark Carrington, he took the shot from a long distance but missed the goal. Two minutes later, Stuart Beavon passed it to Rutherford, he crossed it in for Grant. However, Grant’s shot was blocked by Ibou Touray.
Beavon was a nightmare for Salford’s defenders today, he managed to let Wright in front of the box in the 43rd minute. However, Wright’s shot went wide. In stoppage time, we got a free kick. The ball got to Walker in the end, when he buried it in the bottom corner of the goal from 25 yards out.
Half-time: Wrexham 3 - 0 Salford City
Salford made a half-time substitution putting on Nathan Pond for Liam Hogan. They looked fresher and on 50 minutes, Gus Mafuta had a shot from 18 yards out but it went wide. We escaped the pressure and went on the attack, it was Grant who had a shot first but the ball found Neal. Then Beavon had a shot but it went wide.
Graham Barrow sent Ben Tollitt on for his debut in replace of Beavon in the 65th minute. In the next minute, we had a freekick which was taken by Grant but it went over and into a very busy Glyndwr University stand. Three minutes later, Summerfield tried a shot from a tight area but it was blocked.
Tollitt and Rutherford played an one-two run in the 82nd minute. Tollitt ended it by having a shot at the goal but it was blocked, he managed to get the ball and try it again. However, it was blocked. He got his reward for all of his missed shots in the 86th minute, when he got his debut goal and the ball went in the top corner of the goal. At this point of the game, some of Salford’s fans decided to head back to coaches and trains. As the saying goes, “money can’t buy you happiness” and today was a waking nightmare for Salford. Don’t worry Salford, there always next week when we meet again.
The game wasn’t over at 4 - 0, in the 93rd minute we got our fifth goal, when Chris Holroyd got through the visitors’ defence and buried the ball in the back of the net. Rob Lainton was finishing the game with a clean sheet, but Danny Whitehead’s long-shot effort was deflected in the box, missing Lainton and spun into the goal.
Full-time: Wrexham 5 - 1 Salford
The match sponsor’s match of the match was Stuart Beavon. It was a good day all round for Wrexham, when Leyton Orient losing their dinner time game at Dagenham & Redbridge 2 - 1 and we made £1,450 for Wheelchair Accessible Travel. That’s all from me for 2018, thank you for reading my content this year.

The Redbridge Hunts, Chapter 52
Tumblr media
Loki and Claire were cuddling in bed the following morning, they were speaking about last night of course.
‘I’m sorry I never told you the truth… I’m ashamed, I think I tried my best to block out the fact that he did save my life. I wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t been for him changing me.’ Loki said sheepishly as Claire lay on top of him, her chin on his chest as she looked at him.
She shook her head. ‘It’s ok. You went through a lot, both of you. I’m a little surprised at your dad for not taking Chris’ worries into consideration before telling you. I know what he does isn’t right, but at the end of the day he is an original vampire with strong instincts. He can control them, though just enjoys letting them run wild sometimes. He seems like he cares about those around him though, since he’s not ever killed a student human or teacher.’
‘That’s true. Even though he often threatens, I think it’s just him being an ass.’ Loki chuckled as he trailed his fingers up and down Claire’s back.
‘Plus a lot of the bickering and teasing is just major big brother vibes.’
‘Hmm. Some a bit far though.’ Loki said with a raised eyebrow.
‘True. I do feel for him though, searching for his soulmate for so long.’ Claire sighed.
‘Mmm, me too.’ Loki said sadly.
‘It’s a shame we didn’t get to enjoy the Halloween night properly though.’ Loki sighed and slid his hand up Claire’s back to the back of her neck, making her eyes flutter shut for a moment.
‘It is… Though at least we’ve got your birthday party at the end of the month.’ She grinned widely.
‘Oh god, how could I forget?’ He chuckled.
‘It’ll be great. I’m guessing we now add Chris to the invite list?’
Loki smiled and nodded. ‘Of course. Though we will need to watch him closely since your sister will be coming too.’ He frowned.
‘Once she meets Matt, I am sure she will be hooked and he with her. He’ll look after her.’ Claire assured Loki.
‘You are determined to hook them up, aren’t you?’ Loki laughed as he put his arms around her and rolled them over.
‘Of course. He’s a lovely sweet guy, he will be good for her.’ Claire smiled.
‘He will be. I think he will enjoy wooing her, he’s quite the romantic from what I’ve gathered.’
‘Not as romantic as you though, surely?’ Claire asked as she put her arms around Loki’s neck.
‘Oh, more so I think.’ Loki chuckled.
‘Oh damn. I went for the wrong vampire then.’ Claire sighed dramatically.
‘Cheeky.’ Loki growled and buried his face into her neck, nibbling playfully on her neck as he tickled her sides, making her squeal and laugh underneath him.
He stopped tickling her after hearing her laugh for a while, he enjoyed just tickling her to hear her laughter. He dipped his head down to kiss her, it swiftly grew heated and before they knew it, Loki was thrusting into her slowly yet deeply, making her whimper and moan against his lips.
Claire clung to Loki tightly, her nails dug into his back, though he barely felt it. Sweat soon beaded on his forehead as his movements became more erratic. The sounds that spilled from her lips was driving him nuts.
He always liked to make her cum first, he enjoyed feeling her cum around him. He slid a hand down between them, he sought out her clit and lightly teased it, working her up nicely until they were both close.
‘Cum for me, baby. I can feel you so close, come on.’ Loki growled and put more pressure on her clit, with a final thrust was all Claire needed.
‘Ohhh fuck! Loki!’ She cried out as she came, setting Loki off too when he felt her clenching around his cock.
Loki collapsed on top of her, though made sure not to crush her. Even though he knew that she enjoyed feeling the weight of him on top of her.
They were both panting hard, needing some time to recover. Although they didn’t get it, as they heard Bat running up the stairs, yelling her head off. It was breakfast time and they were late, which simply wasn’t good enough.
Bat strolled into the room and walked to the side of the bed, yelling loudly at them. She sat down on the floor at the side and kept making a noise.
‘Bat… Give us a minute, please. I know we’re a little late for breakfast.’ Loki groaned.
Though Bat then began wagging her tail in displeasure and with every wag, her tail thumped hard against the laminate floor, making Loki groan even more.
Claire burst out laughing under him, hearing the noises Bat was making. Her displeasure was very clear.
‘I mean, we are one minute late for breakfast. That is the worst crime ever.’ Claire laughed.
‘Do I have to move?’ Loki huffed.
‘Unless you want Bat to get even angrier, I’d say so.’ Claire nodded.
‘Ugh.’ Loki rolled reluctantly off of Claire, he slipped out of bed and grabbed his boxers to chuck on. Bat chirped happily and made her way out of the room, looking back to make sure that Loki was following her.
‘You’re such a Bat bitch.’ Claire called to him with a smirk when he was halfway down the stairs.
‘Just wait till I get back up there, you’re so in trouble!’ Loki shouted back to her, making her smirk even wider.
-
In the afternoon, Loki and Claire were just lazing about watching TV together when the doorbell rang. Loki went to answer it, he wasn’t too surprised to find it was Chris. He had a feeling he’d appear to talk some more.
He invited him in and got them all some drinks.
It was the first time that Claire had seen them both being reasonably relaxed in one another’s company.
They talked a lot, got some more little issues out of the way. Loki knew that Chris wouldn’t change his ways in regards to feeding from humans, it was something he was going to need to just accept. Chris also knew that Loki would never approve of that, so he knew he would need to try and stop badgering him about it being the best way.
Bat had made herself comfortable on Chris’ lap, purring away while he stroked her.
‘I’m glad you accepted Bat when I gave her to you. I had been worried at first you’d turn her away in spite of me.’ Chris chuckled.
‘You know I love cats, I could never have done that. She was far too cute, and still is. It’s like she’s barely aged, I can’t believe she’s almost sixteen.’ Loki said as he looked adoringly at said cat. ‘It’s as if you turned her too, keeping her young.’ He chuckled and took a swig of his drink.
Chris had been petting Bat, but sort of paused and a brief sheepish look crossed his face, though it quickly disappeared and he continued sliding his hand along the cats fur.
But Loki and Claire caught that look.
‘Wait… Chris… Tell me you didn’t. Tell me you didn’t turn my cat?’ Loki put his drink down and leaned forward, his eyes wide.
Chris looked like a deer caught in the headlights as he slowly raised his head to Loki. Bat lifted her chin high and let out a meow, then looked from Loki to Chris.
‘You did… Didn’t you? What the hell, man?’ Loki whined and ran a hand down his face.
‘Look… She was almost dead when I found her. Initially I was just going to leave her, but I couldn’t. Her eyes were just pleading at me to save her. So, I did… I changed her. I wasn't even sure if it would work on an animal but it did. Then I was going to set her free, but she kept following me. I took her home and decided to gift her to you. I didn’t want a pet, but I knew you loved cats. Knowing she will live forever gave me peace of mind that you’d have a companion forever, too. Incase like me you never found your soulmate.’ Chris admitted.
‘I KNEW IT!’ Claire blurted out and clapped her hands excitedly, making the vampires jump slightly.
‘Sorry… but she’s so smart, come on Loki. Surely you were suspicious too? It’s like she always knows what we are saying.’ Claire said a bit calmer.
Loki put his head in his hands for a moment. Bat jumped off Chris’ lap and went over to Loki, she butted his leg with her head, he moved his hands and looked down at her. She meowed at him and jumped into his lap, purring.
‘So, you’re a vampire Bat cat, huh?’ He hummed and scratched under her chin. ‘Why didn't you tell me before, hmm?’
Bat meowed in response, making him chuckle as he shook his head. ‘I guess I should’ve known, really.’
‘Ahhh, Bat! That’s so freaking cool.’ Claire laughed as she reached over to pet her too.
Bat meowed playfully and leapt onto Claire’s lap, she did a little dance around on her lap that made the three of them laugh.
‘I guess you could say the cat’s out of the bag now.’ Chris said with a smirk.
‘Oh god, now he’s doing dad jokes.’ Loki face-palmed. ‘I think I prefer the insults thrown at me.’
‘Don’t worry, brother. There will still be plenty of them.’ Chris grinned. ‘Anyway, I better get going. Some work to do before tomorrow.’
‘Are you going to get in touch with the school board?’ Loki asked him when he stood up.
Chris nodded. ‘First thing.’
‘Let me know when, I’ll join in the call.’ Loki smiled at him.
‘Thank you.’ Chris smiled back a genuine smile.
‘Oh, by the way. Loki’s birthday, we’re having a party here. Be here around four ish, there will be plenty of food and alcohol.’ Claire said quickly before Chris left.
‘I’ll be here.’ He nodded and began to head out, but he paused a moment and turned back to face them. ‘Is your sister coming?’
Both Loki and Claire instantly frowned. ‘Yes… why?’ Claire asked cautiously.
Chris smirked. ‘I just want to meet her, since I did kill her husband after all… I’ll try not to bite too hard.’ He winked at them.
‘You’ll do no such thing.’ Claire warned him.
‘We’re setting her up with Matt, so you’ll stay away.’ Loki said firmly.
Chris chuckled. ‘Sure, sure.’

When I read the latest Register of Ministers’ Interests, i noticed lists of entries for various MPs who had been paid £50 here and £75 there on various dates by certain polling companies. These include YouGov, ComRes, Ipsos MORI, Harris Research and more.
A look at the polling companies own websites doesn’t reveal which polls they might be being paid to answer. Polls I can see say they are weighted to represent the public.
I decided to try and research this to find out what is going on. On face value, polls appear regularly in the mainstream press, such as for Channel 4, the Sunday Mirror, the Express and the Independent. What do these polls say?
The general slant of these polls seem to be to heavily suggest that the Conservatives are ahead of Labour by quite a percentage. Are these designed to make supporters of other political parties lose face, give up or change their vote strategically?
For example: Here is a poll run by Ipsos MORI called:”Levels of pessimism for future of NHS, policing and education highest for 15 years”, which seems to want people to understand that
Nearly two in three think that the quality of public services have got worse over the last five years, according to a new study from Ipsos MORI. Meanwhile, pessimism for the future of the NHS, policing and education are at record levels.
So what effect does that have on the voter? On the surface, it suggests that people have not been happy with the last 5 years of government and the cuts to spending on the NHS, education and policing. But is this a thinly veiled attempt to justify selling schools, the NHS and policing to private contractors?
It seems that polls are a vehicle being paid for in an attempt to influence voters via the mainstream press. Why are MPs being paid to enter polls that are surely to gauge the opinion of the general public.
One MP’s entry for polls answered for ComRes
Mr Peter Bone of Wellingborough is a Conservative. As shown in the screengrab. No mention is made of his fees being donated.
ComRes was mentioned five times in the Register of Ministers Interests. Let’s see who they are and what parties they stand for and what they do with their fees.
Mark Durkan of Foyle (Social Democratic and Labour Party in Ireland) has been paid by ComRes eight times in 2016. All fees paid to charities or community organisations.
Julie Elliott of Sunderland Central has done 7 polls for ComRes earning her £575 in 2016, She stands for Labour. Julie has helped YouGov out with 9 polls for which she was paid in 2016. All her fees are paid to her constituency party.
Chris Evans of Islwyn is a Labour MP, whose website suggests he is very active in his constituency standing up for fairness for his constituents. He technically stands for the Labour Co-operative Parties, where he has been endorsed by both Labour and the Co-operative Party. As well as writing for a boxing magazine, Chris has been paid to answer 5 polls for ComRes in 2016. I’ve tweeted him to ask if he will reveal what these polls are. All his fees from surveys are donated to community organisations.
Paul Flynn of Newport West in Ireland has answered 13 surveys for ComRes and states that all fees were donated to charity. He is also Labour and he writes a blog. Paul Flynn is prolific with polls, answering 3 for ipsos MORI and 8 for YouGov.
Another Labour Co-operative MP is Mike Gapes, who has done 8 for ComRes and 2 for YouGov. He donates his fees to Redbridge Organisers, a branch of his constituency party.
Interestingly, another Conservative, Cheryl Gillian for Chesham and Amersham has earned four times for ComRes and there is no mention of her fees being donated. She is one of the longest standing female Conservative MP in parliament, first elected in 1992.
Glen John, Conservative MP for Salisbury, has entered 11 polls for ComRes and 2 for YouGov. There is no mention of fees being donated and he has rental income over £10,000 for a flat in London and shares worth over £70,000 for an IT and communications company.
I am trying to steer clear of bias in this blog, so as I’ve only got to G in the alphabet Therefore I will list names, parties, number of surveys and whether they are donated or not to see if there is a pattern.
James Gray. Conservative. North Wiltshire: ComRes 6. YouGov 9 Ipsos MORI 2 Populus 7 plus rental income from 3 properties. No mention of donation of fees.
Neil Gray. Scottish National Party. ComRes 4. Fees donated to charity and local organisations.
Andrew Gwynne. Labour. Denton and Reddish. ComRes 9 Ipsos MORI 2 (fees donated to local campaign fund) and YouGov 6 (fees donated to local campaign fund).
Labour MP David Hanson for Delyn, ComRes 8 YouGov 8 and a one off fee from Ipsos MORI for “Winter MORI Survey 2016, which was donated to the Labour Party in Delyn. He donated winnings from William Hill to charity.
At this juncture, an actual poll of 440 MPs is shown. These polls were taken face to face in the MPs Westminster Offices and is weighted to reflect the balance of power. Here is a snap shot of what MPs were asked and their responses, which is interesting on the whole Brexit question.
As this study reveals quite a lot of information and another blog may be required for a summary of findings, I will do 2 more MPs and their usage of poll survey fees and other interests if they stand out. The last 2 are both conservatives, but they seem to be very different from each other.
Rebecca Harris. Conservative for Castle Point. All fees donated to charity. ComRes 6. YouGov 7 and what looks like the Ipsos MORI Winter survey. (1). She stands for more people in parliament with business experience and she backs this up with her own career before she entered politics: Looks like A Good Conservative!?
Rebecca spent the majority of her working life in business, principally with Phillimore & Co, specialist publishers of British local history (including publishing titles on Hadleigh, Thundersley, Canvey Island and Daws Heath). At Phillimore Rebecca worked in various aspects of the firm including warehousing, as a delivery driver and Sales Rep. She joined the Board as Marketing Director in 1997, a position she held until the sale of the firm in 2007.
Simon Hart. Conservative. Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire. ComRes 6. YouGov 6 and MORI 2. No mention of donations to charity. He also earns as High Net Worth Consultant for Countryside Alliance being paid £30,000 a year for 8 hours work a week. He is a member of the United and Cecil Club, a dining club formed in 1949 (following the merger of 2 much older organisations) with close links to the Conservative Party. Members have previously been accused of using a loophole to make large donations to the Conservatives without declaring them. Simon Hart received two donations totally £5000. Finally, a private donation was made by businessman Fraser Duffin (article about donation to refurb a restaurant) of £10,000. Not said for what.
An example of a survey of MPs opinions to possibly back the motion to add a third runway at Heathrow, that was publicised in the mainstream press.
In summary, out of the first 3rd of MPs: * Many surveys have been completed and paid for. * Apart from Rebecca Harris, the Conservatives do not mention any donation of fees, but the Labour ones do, although not for fees from every polling company. * The only poll declared to be amongst MPs is the Winter MORI Survey 2016. * That more of the Conservative MPs had private donations, rental income, shares and other local business and club associations. and That the polls themselves suggest they are funded to give weight to parliamentary action, such as selling the NHS, policing and education to private contractors.
Suggestion of flat denial as ComRes employee asks for proof of links between Tories and opinion poll companies. But that isn’t the main story.
On a last note. ComRes Chairman Andrew Hawkins appears to be on Twitter to respond quite aggressively to bloggers questioning or raising concerns about opinion polls, fees paid to MPs and transparency about political leanings within poll companies, bias and what polls MPs are being paid to answer. What are they about. One on the list of MP surveys is about whether they will take a holiday abroad. In one Tweet sent to blogger Buddy_Hell with what seems to be a flat denial that MPs are paid for ComRes surveys.
Here is a list of surveys of MPs done by ComRes.
It may be worth noting that the opinion companies do not * Poll all MPs. They poll the same ones each time. * I just went through the whole register and counted 62 MPs on the Register of Interests have completed many surveys for ComRes.,Typically, they are the ones also completing for YouGov and Ipsos MORI as well.
  #gallery-0-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
I counted 62 MPs paid for surveys. This says 118. Needs investigation.
Anything to do with Jeremy Hunt’s Surrey ward where child care became an issue with Virgin Care?
Are Polls Skewed? Opinion is Divided When I read the latest Register of Ministers' Interests, i noticed lists of entries for various MPs who had been paid £50 here and £75 there on various dates by certain polling companies.

-
Claire shivered as she looked down at the water flowing beneath her, glistening red in the pale moonlight.
‘So, the rumours are true.’ She whispered.
The snow crunched under her feet as she made her way across the old arched bridge, and then started following a small path through the park that followed alongside the river upstream.
There were rumours that every year without fail, on the fourth of January, the river always turned red for a few hours in the evening. And now, she had finally been able to confirm that rumour.
Claire had always been fascinated by Demsdale, a city rumoured to have a large vampire population, if you believed in vampires that was… Claire’s rational side didn’t really believe in it, she knew there had to be a reasonable, scientific explanation for it all. But at the same time, she had always been intrigued with the idea of vampires being real.
It was said that many authors of vampire books had come to Demsdale for inspiration. More-so the borough of Redbridge, where Claire stood currently, because of the red river. So, even if the rumours weren’t true, just being where many great books were born was quite exciting in itself.
Claire had just moved there between Christmas and New Year, due to start her new job tomorrow as an assistant teacher.
She continued her way through the park, keeping in line with the river until it came to an abrupt bend and went through a forest situated at the edge of the borough. Although, as she continued following it through the tall trees, she soon found she couldn’t go any further as an intimidating, high barbed wire fence blocked her way.
‘Damn it.’ She hissed and pulled her jacket in closer around her neck as the cold began creeping in.
A loud noise, similar to a bone snapping, came from behind her and made her jump, she spun around quickly and tried to get her eyes to focus. Whilst there was some light that came from the lanterns in the park, it was still dark enough for her eyes to play tricks on her. She could’ve sworn she had just seen a large shadow ducking behind a tree not too far from her.
Calm down, Claire. It’s just your eyes playing tricks on you… Just make your way back to the park. She thought to herself, trying to calm her nerves.
Inhaling deeply a few times to try and steady her shaky breathing, she began making her way back to the safety of the park. She kept her eyes on the ground to follow her footprints back out towards the path so she wouldn't get lost.
But just as she neared the edge of the trees, it sounded like there was footsteps following her through the snow. Her back stiffened as she hastily emerged from the forest, even though the noise abruptly stopped, she kept moving to get plenty of distance from the intimidating trees.
Once back in the light of the park, she bravely turned around and looked at the dark forest. Now that she was looking back at it, she mentally slapped herself for going in there in the first place. Redbridge was, after all, well known for murders and kidnappings. Not that there was a crazy amount regularly, but just more so than anywhere else in the city.
There was no sign of anyone now, allowing her to relax. But her calm moment didn't last long, when a deafening noise filled the whole area. It sounded like high-pitched screams and leather slapping all at once. Claire’s heart immediately began racing again. She turned on her heels and ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Seconds later, a group of bats flew overhead out from the trees and dispersed around the park.
‘Bloody hell.’ She gasped as she stopped to catch her breath again, hand clutched to her chest.
‘Time to go home.’ She muttered and finally made her way out of the park. She felt better being back on the streets, with cars and plenty of people going about.
It didn’t take too long for her to get home either, she stayed just on the borderline of Redbridge. It was ideal as it was in close proximity to the school she was going to be working at. As soon as she had locked the door behind her, she grabbed one of her history books and flicked through the pages until she found the one she had been looking for.
Articles about the history of the city. They claimed that the bridge Claire had stood on just minutes earlier, was where the very first five vampires were turned by a spiteful witch looking for revenge on people of the former village of Demsdale, for brutally murdering her sister. She had trapped five men on said bridge and cursed them into blood sucking monsters, hoping they would bring terror and death to the villagers.
That was apparently why the borough earned the name Redbridge, and where the rumour of the blood river started too. The book said the curse was brought upon the men on the fourth of January, where every year thereafter the river turns red on that very night, but just for a few hours.
Claire hadn’t truly believed it at first, but after seeing it with her own eyes tonight, she wasn’t sure what to believe anymore. She had hoped to find some kind of logical explanation, but she wasn’t about to go trespassing over barbed wire in a freaky forest to find out.
She decided that she'd had enough adventure for one night and went to bed with her book. She hadn’t closed the curtains yet, but ended up so engrossed in her book that she never noticed a bat at her window, looking at her from small, black eyes.
-
‘It’s barbaric.’ Matt uttered, shaking his head.
‘It’s fun! They don’t feel anything.’ David replied with a shrug, stirring his tea.
‘Yeah, maybe not when you do it, but we all know there’s some that enjoy torturing the poor humans in the process.’ Matt argued back.
Loki had just walked into the teacher’s lounge in the morning and couldn’t help but overhear their bickering.
‘Well, I wonder what it could be you’re talking about.’ He grumbled, making himself a cup of tea.
‘In our defence, it was mostly humans that wanted to end their life that were used last night…’ Jessica chimed in with.
‘Mostly is the word that’s the problem there.’ Loki huffed. ‘I read online there’s six humans that mysteriously went missing yesterday.’
The others went a little quiet. Then Severus, who usually keeps to himself, spoke up. ‘Still, less people were killed than in previous years. That number is going down, if only a little.’
‘Hey, how come you weren’t there? It’s not like you to miss out on the yearly hunt.’ David asked.
Severus’ eyes twinkled a little. ‘I was… otherwise engaged.’
‘Yeah, getting it on with his new girl.’ Jessica smirked.
‘Right, I forgot a human has got you wrapped around her little finger now.’ David laughed.
‘At least I have someone that loves me for me.’ Severus countered.
‘Don’t tell me she’s turning you soft, old man!’ Hannibal teased.
‘There’s nothing wrong with loving a human.’ Loki snapped.
‘I never said there was.’ Hannibal said in defence.
‘Well, Severus is right. At least things are still going in the right direction, it’s less numbers than previous years. Your father’s ways are really starting to get out there more.’ David tried, hoping to calm Loki down a little.
‘I guess so. I just agree with Matt. Hunting terrified humans just to drink for fun is disgusting. Especially when we have access to the blood bank whenever we need.’ Loki stated.
‘Plus, with all the bars we have deals with. There’s just no need to be hunting to kill and terrify anymore.’ Matt agreed.
Loki nodded. ‘Exactly. Even if most of the prey are willing to be there, there’s still no need for it. It needs to end. It’s a ridiculous tradition.’
‘Well, I made sure none of them felt any pain. It’s an old yearly tradition, but at least it’s less barbaric than it used to be. And I’m sure in the next few years it will be only the willing humans there.’ David shrugged.
‘Not with Chris still running it, it won’t be.’ Loki growled.
‘What won’t be?’ Came Chris’ voice as he entered the room.
‘We were speaking about the yearly hunt. That each year there’s less and less unwilling humans there.’ Hannibal said.
Loki stiffened and focused on drinking his tea, angry eyes not leaving the cup in front of him.
Chris smirked as he stalked across the room to the kettle. ‘Indeed, they are getting less… which is a shame, as it’s nowhere near as fun when they’re there of their own accord.’
Loki and Matt both bit their tongues to keep quiet. They knew there was no point fighting with him, they wouldn’t win anyway. No one could win a physical fight against Chris. Being one of the original five vampires, he was one of the most powerful vampires in the world even. There was only two of them left.
‘But we do need to keep the peace with the humans.’ Jessica said calmly.
‘True.’ Chris nodded. ‘However, that’s why having the hunt when we do is ideal. Everyone just thinks that people have ran away or killed themselves after spending the depressing holiday season on their own.’ Chris said calmly as he turned to face everyone with a grin.
‘Didn’t you enjoy yourselves?’ Chris then asked, looking at David, Jessica and Hannibal.
‘Of course, we did. It’s always fun, even with the willing humans. It brings us back to our carnal nature after all. Let’s us live out our little fantasy every year.’ Jessica said with a smile.
‘Well then. The vampires are happy, the humans that went there willingly are happily at peace, and the few I picked off because they were lonely, well… I am sure they are happier wherever they are now.’ Chris gave Jessica a charming smile.
Loki struggled to remain calm, his jaw clenched and his free hand balled into a fist. He tried his best not to crush his cup.
Everyone went silent when they heard the only two human teachers making their way down the corridor towards the room.
Redbridge secondary school was run by vampires, and most of the teachers were vampires too, with just two human teachers. The pupils were 60% vampires but only a few of the human pupils knew about their existence, mostly if they were best friends with a vampire or dating one.
As the school’s headmaster, Chris was almost in total control of the place. However, the school also had a set council of vampires that had the ultimate say in big decisions. The school had been set up by Loki’s father, Lucius. The income they received from family’s that sent their kids there could go into the blood bank at the hospital down the road.
The hospital was founded and ran by Lucius too, and the blood bank was for vampires to have a way of getting their feed without actually having to drink from humans. The humans got paid for their blood donations, of course thinking it went to fellow humans in need. Which part of it did, because Lucius did run a proper hospital too, bustling with humans working there, glad they had a well-paying job.
For the last one hundred years, Lucius has had a vision of humans and vampires being able to co-exist together, with the humans mostly being unaware of the vampire’s existence. It had been a hard battle getting vampires to change their old ways, but with more vampire hunters entering the scene, the vampires realised that they couldn’t keep feeding off of human’s as they pleased without consequence. There was one vampire hunter in particular who had proven to fight the especially cruel and unrelenting vampires with the same, if not more cruelty. In the end, most of them realised that Lucius’ way was the right way, especially if they wanted to stay alive.
Some bars had policies for vampires, they would send the drunk humans out the back where vampires could take their fill from them. Providing they didn’t kill them. So when the human woke up, whatever they would remember from the encounter just seemed like a lucid dream.
While there were still lots of vampires that enjoyed feeding from humans in one way or another, there was a few that not only enjoyed feeding from them, but enjoyed torturing them too, not fearing the consequences or the hunters. Vampires could release endorphins while they were feeding, resulting in the humans to feel drowsy and happy, but some vampires choose not to. They loved hearing the cries of terror and pain while they were drinking from their prey far too much. Often, they would not stop after the human passed out, they would suck the human dry.
And Chris happened to be one of those vampires.
The human teachers Michael and Jeremy entered the lounge and happily greeted everyone. The vampires all put on smiles and everyone shared what they got up to over the holidays. Well, the human friendly parts, at least.
Loki was still uncomfortable about being in the same room as Chris, especially after what had happened last night. So he left the room as soon as he could.
‘I’m away to get my lessons planned for the day.’ He hastily said to everyone.
‘Oh Loki, before you go...’ Chris called to him, making him stop but Loki didn’t turn to face Chris. ‘You’ve got a new assistant joining you today. She’s just passed her teaching exams from across the country and is going to be joining us for a couple of years.’
Loki turned and looked at Chris with an eyebrow up. ‘You didn’t think to tell me before now?’
Chris hid a smirk behind his tea as he took a sip. ‘I didn’t know about it until this morning when I came in. It’s not a problem, is it?’
Loki kept his cool and shook his head. ‘No, not at all… I could do with the assistance actually.’
‘Good. She’ll be in your classroom, waiting.’
‘She? Finally, another woman in the mix.’ Jessica cheered.
Loki turned around and continued on out of the room with his jaw clenched. He was pissed that he was only being told now. He thought it would no doubt be another vampire, if Chris had something to do with it. Loki only hoped she wasn’t old school type with her feeding. Or they would end up not getting along well at all.
As he opened the door to his classroom, the most intoxicating, mouth-watering smell, instantly hit him like a ton of bricks.
‘Oh, hi! You must be Mr Laufeyson. I’m Claire, Claire Mason.’ A young woman said brightly as she walked up to him with her hand outstretched towards him.
Oh no. She was no vampire… This was going to be much, much, worse than he had thought.

The Redbridge Hunts, Chapter 51
Tumblr media
‘I did it because having you alive and hating me, is better than not having you alive at all.’
Claire’s heart broke at hearing Chris’ words. Judging by the look on Loki’s face, she had a feeling that his heart did too…
Loki said nothing at first, his mouth was open in shock at Chris’ admission.
‘You… you knew I didn’t want to be turned.’ Loki said gruffly.
‘You were dying in my arms, Loki. I loved you, so much. More than anyone else. When I first held you as a baby, I knew I’d do anything for my little brother. I was not about to just let you die.’ Chris yelled at Loki and turned away, his back to them.
Loki looked down, Claire saw the pained expression on his face.
‘If you just stopped killing innocent people, like dad did. You terrified me that day.’ Loki said quietly.
Chris turned around. ‘It’s not that easy. I’m addicted to the feeling I get when my victims are scared, the rush of power and the taste of their blood, it’s fresher and rich, I can’t help it. You’ve never been able to accept it, but I don’t care.’ Chris growled low.
Loki pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. ‘I get it, Claire’s blood is the most delicious thing in the world, but I can control myself. I can stop without killing her. You could too, you don’t need to kill them after!’
‘I don’t care about them. Their lives are just fleeting in comparison to us, it will happen sooner or later. Whether I’m here or not. Vampires will overtake.’
‘Would you say that if your soulmate turns out to be human?’ Claire asked.
Chris glared at her. ‘I don’t have a soulmate.’
‘You do, somewhere.’ Loki said. 'Every vampire has a soulmate.'
‘I’ve been to every single town and city in the world, spent weeks at each place, searched in clubs, bars, restaurants, everywhere. A soulmate for me doesn’t exist.’ Chris snarled, though his voice broke a little near the end.
‘Tell Loki what you told me about your job.’ Claire said softly.
Chris clenched his jaw and narrowed his eyes at Claire, then he looked at Loki with a sigh. He put his hands on his hips.
‘Fine. You want the truth? Look, I’m sorry for kidnapping Claire. For trying to hurt you. I was jealous when Claire first came along, that your soulmate literally just walked right into your life when I’ve spent centuries searching for mine. Then when dad told us about the school board wanting you to have my job, I snapped. I love that job, I love my students, vampires and humans. Seeing them thrive and grow, getting excited for being accepted into Universities or Colleges that they applied for, getting jobs that they’ve dreamed of. Helping the young vampires work their way through their first few years where their instincts are at their strongest. The thought of it all being taken away… especially by you, just made me see red. You’ve got everything I want, but you wouldn’t have if I didn’t turn you. Being a vampire isn’t so bad, is it? Better than being dead, surely? Yet you’ve never forgiven me for making that decision, to save my little brother in the only way possible.’
It was then Loki’s turn to get emotional. Claire saw the realisation wash over Loki’s face, his eyes began to water as he stepped backwards until he was leant against the table for support.
‘I… I didn’t realise you’d been searching for your soulmate. I also didn’t realise how much it affected you when I was hit by the car… I’ve been a fool… You’re not wrong, being a vampire is better than death. I just… I just didn’t see it at the time and was so angry and scared at the same time, it clouded my judgement. I’m… sorry, for not being thankful that you saved me. For not ever listening or giving you a chance.
I looked up to you so much, Chris. As my big brother. You were always there for me, looking out for me. When I was told about you and dad being vampires, I was crushed. Though I did come round to the idea, when dad explained about the blood bank… but then I learned that you didn’t agree with it. I was scared of you, the way you just drank from humans and killed them without care. That was a side to you I had never seen, didn’t want to see. I didn’t want to become like that, so when you turned me, I was terrified about doing the same. I've got your blood literally running through my veins, not just as brothers.'
Chris eyes widened a little at Loki’s words, his stance softened and he wasn’t quite as guarded anymore. ‘Scaring you was the last thing I wanted to do, I never wanted you to see me like that… I didn’t even want to tell you about us being vampires but dad was insistent about telling you the truth. That’s why my relationship with him dwindled even more, he just went ahead and told you anyway. I was scared of it causing a rift between us, and rightfully so. That’s exactly what happened.’
‘I would have found out sooner or later. I was beginning to wonder why you and dad never aged.’ Loki sighed and paused for a second. ‘I don’t want to take your job. You didn’t listen to me when dad told us. You are good at it, I know that. I was all for telling the board I didn’t want it and that you should remain the head teacher, until you went nuts and tried to kill me. That’s the first time I’ve genuinely thought you were actually attempting to murder me.’
Chris looked down. ‘I know. I’m ashamed to admit that I think I was, I just saw blind rage. I can’t excuse it.’ He shrugged and looked back up at Loki. ‘I can’t change who or what I am. But part of who I am, still cares and loves his little brother. Always has done. Always will. Even it that means being hated, at least you’re alive.’
Loki and Chris stared at one another for what felt like the longest time. Then, eventually, Loki stood up straight and walked towards him, Chris wasn’t sure what he was about to do at first. Though Loki opened his arms and hugged him tightly. Chris was frozen on the spot for a minute, his brain took some time to process what was going on.
Though the moment Chris put his arms around Loki in return, both of them instantly felt a relief of sorts, the love and bond they once had when Loki was younger came flooding back. All the good times and memories.
When they let go from the longest hug, they both had watery eyes. Though as they both took a step backwards, Claire was sat on the chair at the side, in floods of tears at the scene. They both turned their heads to look at her and chuckled.
‘You guys… That was… so beautiful.’ She sobbed and pulled her cloak round to wipe her eyes.
Chris rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. ‘Well… I’m away to go back to the hunt before it’s all over. I’m sorry, Claire. For kidnapping you and scaring you.’
Claire stood and walked over to Loki, still wiping her eyes. ‘I… I understand why you did. Though not to say it wasn’t scary at the start, but I’m glad that something good has come out of it in the end.’
Loki nodded in agreement, he put his arm around Claire tightly and kissed the top of her head.
‘Though if you ever hurt or kidnap her again, brother or not, I’ll beat the shit out of you.’ Loki growled at Chris.
Chris smirked and as he walked by, he patted Loki on the shoulder. ‘Sure you will, lil bro.’
Loki felt a strange sensation in his heart. It had been a long time since Chris called him that, he used to always use that nickname for him. It made him smile a little as Chris headed out the door and took off.
Claire wrapped her arms around Loki’s waist and hugged him tightly. Loki pressed his face into her hair and he breathed in deeply.
‘Let’s get you home.’ He hummed and squeezed her tightly.

The Redbridge Hunts, Chapter 46
Tumblr media
Claire was quite concerned with how worried and on edge Loki seemed to be. It made her on edge, too.
When they got home, Matt and David came round about an hour later.
‘You really think Chris will try something?’ Matt asked Loki as the three vampires sat at the table in the kitchen with a beer, while Claire cooked dinner with a glass of wine.
Bat was on the table too, like she was listening intently to the conversation, though she did keep an eye on Claire too incase there was any food on offer.
Loki had said they’d just order takeaway, but Claire offered to cook. She was planning to make stew, knowing how much Loki loves it. Though the thought of having to fight with three vampires for the toilet wouldn’t be ideal, as she knew Loki would have a tantrum if she didn’t add garlic. So she just opted for something else entirely and was cooking up lasagne.
‘Definitely. I’ve never seen him so angry before, if dad hadn’t been there, he would’ve killed me. Without a doubt.’ Loki said with certainty.
Matt and David’s eyebrows shot upwards. ‘Do you really think having us two as backup will help if he does come knocking?’ David asked as he took a big swig of his beer.
‘One of you can try and keep him from killing me while the other goes to get my dad.’ Loki said as he also took a big mouthful of beer.
‘I’ll get your dad!’ Both Matt and David said at the same time.
Claire wanted to laugh, but the situation was quite worrying she couldn’t really see the humour in it. Her stomach was in knots, even though she knew having Matt and David here was a bit of extra security.
When dinner was ready, they all sat around the table to eat. They were a bit calmer and able to enjoy their food as they chatted away about other things. Bat had her own little plate of some mince that Claire had left to the side for her without any onions or sauce in it.
‘You spoil that cat.’ Matt laughed as he reached over to stroke said cat.
‘At least now I can blame it all on Claire.’ Loki teased with a smirk.
‘Pssssht. She was already spoiled rotten before I even knew you, don’t deny it!’ Claire argued back as she pointed her fork at him, making him chuckle.
‘Exactly. Remember that time it was Severus’ birthday, we all got him a cake and you snuck a piece home, just for Bat?’ David reminded him.
Loki looked a little sheepish as he shrugged. ‘Well… Bat should get to enjoy the celebrations that we do, too.’
‘That’s why she was so desperate to get at my birthday cake, she has a sweet tooth.’ Claire laughed.
‘She does.’ Loki sighed. ‘She’s rather partial to a little bit of baileys too on an evening.’
Claire giggled, while David and Matt shook their heads in disbelief. Bat let out a small chirp from the side of the table.
After dinner, Loki did the dishes while the others went through to the living room to relax for a while before going to bed.
‘Has Loki ever been this worried about Chris trying to hurt him before?’ Claire asked quietly, though she wouldn’t be surprised if Loki could still hear her from the kitchen.
‘No, not that I can think of.’ David shook his head.
‘Chris loves his job, he does it take it seriously. He does care for the students and his teachers, this will be a big blow to him for sure.’ Matt said.
‘I don’t get why they want to change things up. I mean, Loki would be a great head teacher if he does decide to take it.’ Claire said softly.
‘He really would.’ Matt agreed.
‘Do you think he will take the job, if Chris can’t get them to change their minds?’ David asked Claire.
‘I’m not sure, he hasn’t really said much about it. I think he’s too worried about what Chris might do right now.’ Claire sighed.
‘Well, we will do our best to help if trouble does come knocking.’ David said firmly.
-
For the following few days, there was no sign of Chris. It was like he’d gone off the radar completely. Loki had relaxed a little bit, though was still on edge. Matt and David had said they’d be happy to stay more nights, but Loki didn’t want to burden them anymore. They said they’d be on the end of the phone, if anything did happen to call them and just hang up after one ring, they’d be straight there.
‘I don’t know whether to be more worried or not that Chris has just gone completely AWOL.’ Loki said to Claire on Thursday morning while they prepped for the day ahead.
‘It is strange. Though maybe for the best, maybe he’s clearing his head and will come back calmer. Hopefully…’
‘I certainly hope so.’ Loki said as Claire walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him, he smiled and kissed her forehead. ‘Thank you for putting up with me this week. I know I’ve been antsy and probably not easy to be around.’
‘So… what’s been the change?’ Claire teased.
Loki growled at her and tickled her sides, making her giggle.
‘You’ve been fine, love. I know it’s worrying, you don’t need to apologise.’ Claire assured him and pressed her head in against his chest.
Loki ran his fingers through her hair, she always soothed him. He would be lost without her, that was for sure.
‘Hopefully he comes back before Saturday night’s party, I don’t know if I’ll be able to fully enjoy the Halloween night if I’m constantly worrying and looking around for him.’ Loki sighed.
‘I doubt he’d try anything at the party, besides if he does, there’s plenty of vampires around to protect you. It will probably be safer than being at home!’ Claire said as she looked up at him, resting her chin on his chest.
Loki smiled and nodded. ‘That’s very true.’ He hummed.
‘It’ll be fine.’ Claire said confidently as she reluctantly pulled away from him to place some textbooks on everyone’s table. ‘He’s bound to have calmed down by now, it’s been a few days. I think if he was going to do something dangerous, he would’ve done it already.’
Loki smiled across the room at her and nodded. ‘You’re right, darling.’
-
In a small underground nightclub, in a city across the country, around forty or so bodies lay strewn in various predicaments around the place.
The flashing lights still lit up the room sporadically in a multitude of colours. Music continued to blare out from the DJ system, even though the DJ lay lifeless across the mixing table, blood dripping from his neck with a huge chunk of flesh torn out.
The security guard’s bodies could be found just inside the doorway, in a puddle of their own blood. The few bartenders that had been working that night lay dead behind the bar, smashed glasses beside them.
One man who was left, the last one alive, scrambled backwards to get away from the monster that had arrived just mere minutes ago, causing the carnage inside, he’d watched his girlfriend get torn to pieces right on front of him. Trying to save her had been pointless, he was simply tossed across the room.
Now, the monster was after him. He’d fallen over and was backed to the wall on the ground, crying and pleading for his life. He’d been happily drunk just five minutes previously, but seeing the massacre had rapidly sobered him up.
The vampire was covered in blood, his clothes were soaked in it. His mouth dripped with so much blood as his fangs remained visible. His eyes were a terrifying deep dark red.
‘No amount of pleading will save you.’ The vampire snarled, then without more fooling around he launched for him.
He went straight for the neck of course, the sound of the man screaming in agony was like music to the vampire’s ears as he sucked the blood out of him.
From the adrenaline of fear, the man’s heart was working overtime and sent so much blood through his veins that just got sucked right out. The man turned pale white and passed out, before dying shortly after. The vampire could hear the man’s heartbeat slow, then it came to a complete stop.
Once he’d had his fill, the vampire dropped the body to his feet and he stood up straight. He looked around the room, at the sea of bodies, while he breathed in deeply. There wasn’t one survivor, no heartbeat could be heard.
He let out an angry snarl as he punched the wall, putting a large hole right through. It just wasn’t enough. It didn’t help ease his anger and pain one bit.
‘No… I know exactly what I need to do back in Redbridge.’ Chris snarled.

The Redbridge Hunts, Chapter 48
Tumblr media
Loki was going out of his mind with worry as he flew around Chris’ home with Matt, looking for any sign of him or Claire. Jessica, Spencer and David were at the hunt, looking for her there.
‘I don’t think they’re here, Loki. I can’t smell her at all, it doesn’t seem like Chris has been here lately, either.’ Matt said when they landed by Chris’ front door.
Loki went up to the house and looked through the windows, but to no luck.
He looked up when he heard wings fluttering towards them, it was Jessica. She landed and turned into her vampire form as Loki rushed down the steps to meet her.
‘Anything?’ He asked desperately.
She shook her head. ‘No sign of her there, I’m sorry… The guys are still there looking, it’s such a vast area. There’s a lot of victims though, many don’t look like they particularly want to be there.’
Loki ran a hand down his face as he paced back and fore, he was terrified. He had no idea if Claire would even still be alive. What if Chris had just slaughtered her straight away? Or was he doing this deliberately to lure Loki to him?
‘Loki!’ Jessica called, getting his attention. She ended up grabbing his face to get him to focus.
‘Call Severus and your dad, we need all the help we can get. Hannibal is no use, he’s joined in the hunt and is having the time of his life. I did tell him to look out for Claire though.’ Jessica said firmly.
‘Right… Yes.’ Loki nodded and grabbed his phone out of his pocket.
‘I’m away back to the party to look around there. Matt, keep with Loki, yeah?’ Jessica looked at Matt and he nodded in agreement.
Loki called his dad first, who wasn’t able to answer as was busy doing surgery. Though he asked the nurse to pass on a message when he could, just saying that Chris was back and Claire was missing, that the tradition has been brought forward. Lucius would know what that meant.
Then Loki called Severus, but he didn’t answer. ‘Fuck!’ Loki screamed angrily as he kicked at a plant pot and sent it flying.
‘No need to take your temper out on an innocent plant.’ Came a drawl voice from behind Loki and Matt, making them both jump.
‘Fuck sake! Severus! Stop sneaking up on people!’ Matt snarled, putting his hand over his heart.
‘I heard what happened. Thought you could use some help searching. I’ve got a friend out looking, too.’ Severus said as he glanced from Matt to Loki.
Loki was just glad to have as many eyes out looking as possible.
‘Let’s go check the hunting grounds too.’ Loki said.
The three vampires began running down the garden, taking a few strides before they turned into bats and flew up high, heading for the woods.
-
Claire’s eyes fluttered open, her head felt a little heavy, as if there was a fog in her mind. Though it slowly did begin to clear, allowing her to focus and take in her surroundings.
She was inside a small shack, there wasn’t much to it aside from a fireplace, table and some chairs dotted around. Though what she did notice and was most alarmed at, was her hands were tied behind her to a chair. She couldn’t move.
Her heart started beating fast in fear and her mind began racing, trying to think back, what happened? She couldn’t remember though, all she could recall was being at the party. She went to the bathroom, came out and went to go back into the hall. Though she suddenly remembered seeing someone approach her, though they had been wearing a mask at first, till they got close to her and then lifted the mask off… but she couldn’t remember who’s face it was, everything was blank from there.
There was a loud banging noise from outside, it sounded like someone landed on the roof. It made Claire jump out of her skin. She looked up, then began to hear footsteps above her. Her heart started racing faster and faster as the footsteps went to the side, then she heard a whoosh as whoever it was jumped down from the roof and landed outside the door.
She heard a key being slotted in, then it clicked open. She wasn’t sure what to expect, though she wasn’t sure whether to be relieved or terrified when she saw Chris walk in.
What worried her the most was seeing his fangs were out and he had blood dripping from his mouth. His jeans were slightly torn and his red shirt had darker stains from blood.
‘Chris… what… what’s going on? Where am I? Where’s Loki?’ Claire blurted out, trying to sound as confident as possible, though Chris knew she was riddled with anxiety, he could tell by her voice.
He wiped his mouth with the back of his gloved hand and stalked closer towards her, leering at her.
‘Your precious Loki won’t be able to save you this time.’
Claire suddenly clicked on how she got there. ‘You… you hypnotised me, didn’t you? To get me here? What’s going on?’
Chris could hear her heartbeat quickening.
‘There’s certainly no denying, you are a smart one.’ Chris hummed and began walking around her in circles, making her even more uneasy.
‘Chris… I know that you’re angry and upset about what the school board has done, but you can appeal. Loki doesn’t even want the job, he’s said himself that you are good at it.’
‘You know nothing.’ Chris hissed at her from behind, making her swallow hard as she tried to keep her composure. She knew he could be dangerous, but he had clearly just been feeding, so would likely be feeling the high off that.
‘Then… tell me. Why have you taken me here?’ She asked, trying not to let her fear show in her voice, even though she knew that he would know she was scared already.
‘You have no clue where we are, do you?’ Chris asked as he walked back around on front of her, he put his hands on the arms of the chair and leaned closer to her, so his face was right on front of hers.
She shook her head in response.
Chris chuckled darkly. ‘This shack has been here for many years… In the woods. The hunting woods, to be precise.’ He grinned at the look on her face, the realisation that washed over her.
He ran a finger down her cheek and then slowly down her neck over her pulse point, he could sense her blood rushing through her veins.
‘That’s right, little mouse… You’re going to be my main attraction in this special Halloween Hunt.’
