Not sure how much meat this question has to it but if back in 2006 you were the one that spearheaded the shadow the hedgehog game, how would you have done it?

i'd want ShTH 2005 to keep the same core energy its final form ended up with, but tbh there's a lot i would have done differently lol. here's my 3 step plan for how i would have directed it previously/would direct any sort of reboot or remaster

1. TIMELOOP!!!!!!

i'm not the first person to come up with this idea and i won't be the last to talk about it, but the gist of this point is that ShTH's story makes WAY more sense when you treat it like a timeloop. you finished a story path and end up back in westopolis? great job, you're at the beginning of the timeloop again. it's a smart way to make this wack story a little more cohesive.

i would LOVE to further utilize the timeloop concept for this game because it could be a very simple addition to add flavor OR it be the core of the game's story and gameplay. small things like shadow going "hey wait, have i seen this before?" when he's going through westopolis for the third time can hint at the narrative, and once shadow realizes he's in a loop he's motivated to find EVERY path in search of the full truth. every new story path could be treated as a new game+ as shadow starts to consistently remember more from previous timeloops, carrying over certain weapons, abilities, and memories from his previous experiences.

one really cool idea i saw a while ago on here (edit: FOUND IT! i'm talking about this post) is someone's ShTH timeloop pitch where after a few resets, silver starts to show up and tells shadow to stop messing with the timeline. this continues, and eventually silver becomes a final boss of some of the paths. this idea has never left my mind since i saw it and i need to find the person that came up with it they mean so much to me

i have more timeloop thoughts but i will move on for now

2. simplify or rework the morality system and levels

this is my big gameplay critique - there is A Lot to do in ShTH and very little of it is consistently fun. i have grievances with the morality system i talked about a while ago, the gist of my opinion boiling down to "the system removes agency from shadow and the story doesn't fit within the morals you choose anyway." i'd either MASSIVELY rework the morality system to make it feel worthwhile or just throw the whole thing away. unfortunately i don't have many pitches for what to replace it with since i haven't played that many games with branching stories - maybe the story paths you go down are based on BIG story decisions shadow makes during boss battles or in cutscenes (?) like choosing which boss to fight, which characters to save, what moves or weapons to use, stuff like that. i just want the stuff that leads to branching stories to be more impactful and a little simpler.

this also applies to the levels, of which there are... a lot. and maybe there should be less? i think it would be smart to cut down or combine some of the levels, then really flesh out the ones that matter. and given the non-linear nature of ShTH, i think a version with levels more focused on exploration and combat would fit the game better than the linear mission-based gameplay of the original.

3. MORE GUN

listen man. they advertised this as the sonic game with guns and in my opinion i think they could've done better. i mostly just want a more fleshed out weapons system with upgrades, a little customization, better controls, etc. just put the merchant from resident evil 4 in there and have him accept rings and i would be happy

make black doom seem competent

explain who the chaotix are working for and fit it into the story

no more "kill this many enemies to progress" missions. please

super shadow can have a gun now

Note

As an avid DMC fan, what would be your recommended play order of the games for someone looking to get the full DMC experience? Most people online seem split between starting at 3 or 1 (though most agree on skipping 2).

Most? You mean there's someone out there actually recommending you play 2? Terrifying.

If you want the DMC experience, buy the Devil May Cry HD collection (contains 1-3 Special Edition, but really it's more like 1 and 3 Special Edition) and take your pick:

Pick DMC1 if you want to see how the series started. It's not fully Devil May Cry yet and its former identity as a Resident Evil 4 prototype is still somewhat recognizable, but you'll appreciate what eventually became the foundation of modern day action games.

Pick DMC3 if you want to see Devil May Cry once it really found itself. This is the game that made Vergil his own character (beyond just being a brainwashed boss in DMC1), introduced Lady, styles, Devils Never Cry, basically all the finishing touches to Devil May Cry's identity. Do note that I recommend that you install a "style switcher" mod when you play 3. Usually you have to select a style at a statue, but the Switch version lets you swap styles on the fly like in DMC4 and 5, and this was implemented in no other versions. lol.

After you go through your first pick, you can then play the other, before moving on to 4 and 5.

DMC4 is... kinda rushed, and also came out in that odd 2008-2010ish time period where Capcom games like Resident Evil 5 were completely normal and then they'd randomly do something racist (for DMC4, a new dark-skinned character just turned out to be an old, light-skinned character in a magic disguise, which... yeah), but it did introduce Nero, as well as had the most complex ever Dante whose skill ceiling was so high (despite not having a moveset as huge as DMC5 Dante) that many hardcore players still swear by DMC4's combat system. DMC4 would also lead to the creation of DMC's "sister" game, Bayonetta.

Finally, there's DMC5, the latest game released in 2019 after a 10 year hiatus in which absolutely positively no other DMC games came out whatsoever. None. I mean it.

I recommend you play this last, since 5 is a love letter to the entire series from 1's enemies being V's summons to its reenactment of Dante vs Vergil to even making the Devil May Cry anime canon to the games by making Morrison a cast member and including a cameo from Patty. The game also sets up Nero as the main protagonist for the series going forward, and he really comes into his own in this game.

That being said, 5 is actually really good as a starting point for new players. It's got very accessible difficulties, well-balanced enemies, a robust training mode, no puzzles (you could really get stuck in those, I know I did) and even an autocombo mode that automatically makes combos for you that you can turn on and off at any time without even pausing. If you've always been intimidated by the bar for mechanical skill and by DMC's reputation for difficulty, 5 offers you good training wheels and won't compromise your DMC experience for using them. You can start here just fine and work your way backwards.

What changes would you make if you were in charge of remaking Resident Evil 6?

Ha, trick question! You're not getting me with that one. I wouldn't remake RE6, it's the only good solution.

Seriously, as much as I did enjoy so much of the absurd nonsense that is RE6, you can't make something so-bad-it's-good deliberately, nor should you try. A complete list of everything from RE6 I'd want to preserve in some hypothetical remake basically goes 1. Jake, 2. uhhhhh, maybe that bit where Piers grows a MONSTER ARM that shoots lightning? (But does that mean we'd have to keep the rest of the Chris/Piers campaign to get there? Ugh, no. Not worth it.) I liked Jake's dynamic with Sherry, but Sherry herself could use a major rewrite. I mean, she has almost-wolverine-level healing powers, and the game still thinks she needs to be tackled out of danger every 10 minutes. Aaaaand I'm already running out of stuff I'd genuinely want to keep.

RE6 is the kind of fractal disaster that could be broken down into a near-infinite number of smaller disasters, representing almost every major creative decision that went into it. Making it a co-op game was a mistake, giving the player 4 different campaigns was a mistake, the big-bads are laughable, the mooks are forgettable, the story leaves far too much hanging and unresolved. It's overlong and tediously repetitive, forcing you to fight the same bosses over and over, and then again as a different character ‒ and that's without even touching on all the weird bugs and jank. The campaign throws you from major outbreak location to major outbreak location, over and over, like a scenario that once supported all of RE2 and 3 is no longer interesting enough to hold anyone's attention. Chris' entire campaign is one long military-shooter-handjob that doesn't matter. Leon and Helena's has far more redeeming features, but I wouldn't really miss it. And Ada's campaign, while critical to the plot, is just the absolute worst way to get all that plot-critical info across to the player.

You could maybe salvage something worth remaking by coming up with some real villains and extending Jake and Sherry's campaign into the whole story, with Chris and Leon (and partners?) mostly appearing as NPCs, ala RE8. But how you'd make Jake and Sherry work without co-op I don't know, and can't be bothered trying to figure out.

How do you remake RE6 successfully? You start by deciding what kind of bloody game you're trying to make, and committing to that. Is it supposed to be horror? A military shooter? Action co-op? Is what you're trying to make even really Resident Evil at all? Or are you actually aiming for some sort of weirdly compelling, frequently ugly, campy, janky, utter mess of an experience? Well, good news if so on that last point: you don't have to remake it, it's all that already.

For the record, a complete list of everything I'd want to save from RE5 goes, 1. Sheva, 2. That bit where Chris punches a boulder. But hell, maybe you could salvage something decent by promoting Sheva to the main character, now trying to save her own country from these fucking foreigners who've introduced bioweapons into her homeland, with Chris reduced to an NPC who's too focused on trying to rescue Jill to do much else but get in Sheva's way (until towards the very end where they finally manage to team up to save the day). But that's all about as likely as Capcom actually producing a good version of RE6.

So Konami just had it's first Silent Hill related...anything that wasn't a pachinko machine in...hold up

*checks notes*

10 years! Holy shit it's been that long...and no, P.T. doesn't count...kinda. Anyway, to make up for it (and probably for Contra: Rogue Corps) they decided to go ALL OUT with this franchise with 3 games, a movie (oh goody), a interactive series (could be fun?) and lots of merch.

First up is a remake of the classic Silent Hill 2. While I rather had seen a remake of the first game (that technically got a re-imaging on the Wii but still) as I think SH2 still holds up really well it is cool to see the game with next-gen graphics.

If they keep the rest of the game intact and add more stuff and locations (and fix the combat) this might be, not a replacement but a good version of the game to enjoy. Especially because the only proper way to play the original SH2 is either the PS2 version, the PC port or the Xbox version with extra content added. Don't go for the HD Collection on this one guys.

Next up are 2 brand new SH games: Silent Hill Townfall and Silent Hill F. Nothing is really know about these yet (except that F takes place in 1960's Japan) so we only got 2 teaser trailers but they look pretty dope either way.

While I still remain skeptical of Konami and the last 10 years where they messed up the SH franchise, screwed over Kojima and Metal Gear and gave us only that aweful Contra: Rogue Corps game and new versions of Pro Evolution Soccer, I REALLY hope this will be the comeback this franchise desperatly needs. After all, Resident Evil manged to come back after RE6 so why not Silent Hill?

I wouldn't mind visiting that dreaded town again. I can still see it...in my dreams...Silent Hill...

Whumptober Teaser Post

So much for not going for completion. X'D

Here's the general game plan - I've come up with a prompt choice/general plot for each day, and I'm going to start writing them immediately. Whether or not I actually try for completion during the month of October is going to depend on how much I can get written during September - if I have 21 or more done by October 1st, I'll try to finish them all, but I'm not going to let myself try to write more than 10 fics during the actual month of posting to prevent myself from stressing right into burnout again. I'll do periodic updates during September on how many I have written so far to give a general picture of whether completion is likely or not.

I'm not doing purely Coldfire this time! As much as I love it, I think that trying to work on that many fills for only one fandom at a time might have been part of my problem last year, so I'm going to shake it up this year. (Fully half of them are still Coldfire but I can only vary so much from my essential nature, lol.) As you guys can probably tell, I've been kind of holding back on You'll Tell to Me What'll Happen to Me since I started suspecting I might want to do Whumptober, because that fic is nothing but whump (in TV Tropes language I think it would qualify as a Trauma Conga Line). I'm also dipping my toes into some fandoms I really enjoy but haven't written for yet, so we'll see how that goes, lol.

I'm going to bite the bullet this year and post these things properly; everything will be getting uploaded to AO3 and then linked to Tumblr instead of posting directly here, because these will be going up out of order with each other like always and it's so much less confusing for everyone if they're at least properly structured in a series on AO3. Plus, this go round, I should have the time to do final edits/AO3 uploads more easily without the horrific crunch of still trying to write them all at the last minute!

I'll admit I'm really curious to see if any of my follower have ever read Melanie Rawn's books, I read them around the same time I read Black Sun Rising, and although they didn't shape my personality quite as fundamentally as Coldfire did they're still very dear to me. Shannara as well, given that I started reading that series when I was nine, and a lot of my own writing voice (and certainly my love of imagery) was inspired by Terry Brooks.

Now, into the grand adventure of actually writing all of these! XD

This is everyone's preemptive warning to skip past if you don't want to read a long and rambling post, I'm about to go wild lol. I'll also include the 5 people (not 10 oops) I'm tagging here at the top so they don't have to scroll; I'm interested to hear your answers but obviously there's no pressure to do it (･ω･)b

1. Loki (Marvel)

My poor little meow meow. My silly rabbit. My sweet darling babygirl. Picking 9 other characters was honestly hard because there's few I truly consider a favourite like Loki. Between his 2011-2013 appearances in the MCU, the comics, and the pre-Thor high-fantasy-novel-esque fics on AO3, the ideal version of this character lives in my head rent free, and has done since 2012. I picked this gif from The Avengers because it was the moment that made me want to see the film again just for his scenes, and it remains the only film I've seen in cinemas twice. He's quite literally the reason I got Tumblr, for The Avengers fanart, and my very first post was some (bad) fanart of my own haha. While the rest of this list is in no particular order, Loki is absolutely my number one, for all time, always. I could talk about him forever.

2. Evy Carnahan (The Mummy)

I had to choose the scene I got my blog title from. While Loki might be my favourite character, The Mummy is my favourite film. I think I saw it at the exact right time of life when I was a kid in my Ancient Egypt phase, but also far younger than the recommended viewing age the film suggests lol. Ever since then I've rewatched this and the sequel (yes, sequel, singular. I said what I said) more times than I can count and further developed my interest in actual Egyptology. Evy is intelligent and an academic, kindhearted, a little bit clumsy, but uses her knowledge and quick thinking to be an absolute badass and save the day multiple times. I've always wanted to be at least half as cool as her and also marry Rick O'Connell.

3. L (Death Note)

Everyone here is lucky that I got Tumblr after the height of my weeb phase that started in 2008. Death Note was the first manga I ever read and I expected to enjoy it and move on, but as soon as I got to the Lind. L. Taylor event in volume 2 my young mind was blown and I was obsessed. One scene of L outsmarting Light kept me reading manga, got me into anime, introduced me to fanart, was the first fanart I ever drew, introduced me to fanfiction, and years later I would take Japanese classes at uni. L is an amazing example of a morally grey character, wanting justice to prevail but perhaps not for the right reasons, and no matter what it takes to get there.

4. Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 4 Remake)

Okay I'll admit Leon is the first babygirl on the list who is mainly here for aesthetic reasons. I had a passing knowledge of the Resident Evil franchise but never took an interest because military-gun-shooting-series are boring as hell... Until RE4R came out last year and I saw this scene in a playthrough. Where do I sign up for him to do this to my neck. Then I learned Leon's backstory and actually appreciated his character too. He hates and distrusts the US government, he was blackmailed into service for them at 21, he's haunted by being used as their weapon, and he's the most cringe fail man who thinks he's suave when he says "Nighty night, knights" as he's killing sentient suits of armour. I need him.

5. Astarion Ancunín (Baldur's Gate 3)

Ah, a non-human in a high fantasy world, using knife skills and sharp wit to protect himself from a deeply traumatic past, but still good at heart and willing to open up to those who appreciate him for who he is, rather than living up to someone else's standards. Now where have I seen a similar character type before... When the game came out it shouldn't have been a surprise who my favourite would be lol. The whole cast does an amazing job, but the real draw of Astarion is the phenomenal work put in by Neil Newborn to really bring this character to life, and I don't think Astarion would be the same without him.

6. Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha)

Inuyasha is one of my all time favourite anime/manga. It's got time travel, a historic setting, magic, action and adventure, and romance between a human girl and a supernatural being who's down bad. Basically all of the tropes I adore and still look for in new favourite series haha. And Kagome has been That Bitch from the start; arriving in a village that fears a half dog-demon, freeing him from his imprisonment to help her, and then ordering him to sit when he pisses her off, knowing he's wearing a magic necklace that forces him to obey. No one is doing it like her.

7. Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)

Yes this is a basic bitch pick, I'm well aware. But no matter if it's the book by Jane Austen, the 1995 BBC production, or the 2005 film by Joe Wright, I love this story so much! There's just something so romantic about it that no modern romance book can capture, and that's not without my trying to find one (just follow my trail of 1 star ratings on Goodreads). Elizabeth and Mr Darcy just read as complete and real characters, and I love how much Elizabeth cares for her family, refusing Darcy's first proposal in part because he insulted them and tried to separate Jane from Mr Bingley.

8. Lin Sukai (The Drowning Empire Trilogy by Andrea Stewart)

Now we're getting into the realm of books without adaptations so I cant use gifs anymore, and I honestly couldn't find any fanart of Lin either. Which is a crime! My girl is out here being extremely intelligent and driven (and badass in some of the later scenes), using her familial magic as daughter of the Emperor to try and dismantle his tyranny despite craving his approval, and trying her best to gain allies even though she was raised within the walls of the palace and is slightly out of touch, and she doesn't have a fandom here on Tumblr? And that's only in book one of the trilogy!

9. FitzChivalry Farseer (The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb)

I haven't even finished The Realm of the Elderlings yet (16 thick ass books, nay, tomes) but I already know this is my favourite fantasy series of all time, and Robin Hobb is beyond doubt a master of her craft. One of her main talents is writing the ultimate poor little meow meow because good lord, Fitz just cannot catch a break no matter what he does or who he's trying to benefit. The pacing of these books can be quite slow but I promise it's always worth the emotionally devastating pay off. (It's also a tough call between Fitz and The Fool on who my favourite Hobb character is!)

10. Sancia Grado (The Founders Trilogy by Robert Jackson Bennett)

The final one is also my most recent addition to this list, seeing as I'm only just starting book two after finishing Foundryside late last year. While that shows how much I loved Sancia after just one book of her, I also hope the rest of the trilogy delivers! So often books will state characters are masters of their craft and just expect readers to take their word for it, but Sancia gets to show off her skills multiple times on page, so you get the impression she really exists and belongs in this world rather than just being a set piece for it. Not only that, she defies the usual lone-wolf-asshole stereotype that's so common in these gritty fantasy books, and it's heartwarming to see the found family she's gathered by the end of the story compared to where she began.

Heartbroke: Chapter 1

Pairing: Cassandra Dimitrescu x (Fem!)Reader

Summary: You knew the Dimitrescu Family all your life. You begun dating one of Alcina’s daughters: Cassandra Dimitrescu. Well, if Cassandra wasn’t so stubborn with pride, the both of you would have continued dating through senior year of high school. Your best friends tell you to forget her. But how can you?

Warnings: Broken Heart, Angst, Jealousy

A/N: So I've been listening to "Heartbroke" by Clubhouse whom I recently saw live in concert and they're a whole vibe, I recommend them a lot. Also this version of Cassandra and the resident evil characters are from Tabtab317′s story “I’ll make you Sing” on AO3! Go read it too!!

She was your childhood best friend...

You lived right across the street from the Dimitrescu’s. Each chance you saw Cassandra outside, you'd run across the street just to play with her.

“Ms. Dimitrescu, can Cassandra, Bela and Daniela come out and play?” You ask, giving Alcina the puppy dog eyes

“Of course sweetie,” She smiles

Before Alcina could call her daughters, a familiar brunette appears from the second floor.

“Y/n!!” Cassandra runs down the stairs, running up to engulf you in a hug

She was your middle school crush...

“Who keeps leaving these love letters in my locker?” Cassandra turns to you

“Beats me,” you say, completely lying to Cassandra

You had left those love letters in her locker, every valentine’s day

“What would you do when you find out who they are?” You ask, out of curiosity

“First, I’d smack them, then I’d kiss them,” she says

She was your high school sweetheart...

You were in one of the practice rooms in the band wing when you jump at the door; quite a heavy door really, slam open.

“Hey Cass, what do you- OW!” You yelp, clutching at your shoulder, “What was that for?!”

“Do you remember me asking you in middle school that I’d smack the person that would leave me these love letters?” She asks you

“All the way back in middle school?” You ask, still groaning from the punch to your shoulder, “Yeah why?”

“Why didn’t you tell me it was you?” She asks

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” You lie

“Don’t lie to me,” She says, with a little more spice in her tone, “Bela saw you put it through the slit of my locker!”

Bela... I’m going to kick her ass later...

“And?” you ask

“Did you forget the last part to my saying back then?” She asks you, coming closer into your personal space

“What was the last part?” You ask, actually forgetting it

Without saying another word Cassandra yanks on the collar of your jacket, kissing you.

Well, almost high school sweetheart...

That was your sophomore year of high school. You and Cassandra had dated for about 2, almost 3 years... She came to all of the football games just to see you perform with the marching band, all the indoor percussion performances, for the same reason...

But then it all stopped...

It was fall of your senior year; you finished your final marching band football game and you were meeting Cassandra at the usual spot.

“Hey Cass,” You smile, seeing her amber eyes illuminate underneath the parking lot lights

“Y/n, we need to talk,” She says, no emotion in her voice at all

Your heart drops below ground level.

Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck....

“Yeah what about?” You ask, well hiding your panicked state

“I’m breaking up with you,” She says, turning her back to you

What?....

“Cass,” You say, beginning to panic, “What do you mean?...”

“This isn’t working out anymore,” Cassandra doesn’t explain, beginning to walk away from you

“Cass... What do you mean ‘not working out anymore’?” You step in front of her, “If you’re feeling like this isn’t working out, tell me what to do so I can make it work for the both of us!”

“That’s the thing Y/n, you can’t make it work,” Cassandra begins raising her tone

“How would you know that Cassandra?!” You ask, raising your tone back

“Because I don’t love you anymore Y/n!” Cassandra yells, “We’re both going to college soon so I might as well break things off before it gets even harder...”

Silence... Dead Silence fell between the both of you.

“You could’ve just said that as soon as I walked up to you...” You sigh, “Or better yet, you could have just said that you’re too good for me. Because you know what? All I really see is you taking so much pride in yourself you’re too stubborn to apologize for anything!”

You turn on the ball of your foot and walk to your car, not to dare look back at Cassandra...

You’ve cooped yourself into the band wing every lunch period since then... Any class you had with Cassandra, you’d ditch to go sulk in silent darkness.

After awhile your best friend: Laura and her girlfriend Catrina convinced you to meet them in the lunchroom for once however, as soon as you walked in, from across the cafeteria: Cassandra, all snuggly with some random male and then her sisters. Their backs were turned to you however, you were able to tell who they were. You just stop dead in your tracks way before you could even take a seat with your friends who weren’t even a few yards away. However, Cassandra coincidentally looks up and spots you, even in the sea of high school students. Beginning to feel the pain that was no news to you, you turn your heel and walk back out; going back into the comfort of the silent darkness that was one of the many band practice rooms.

“Y/n?” Laura opens the door, Catrina following behind her

You wince at the pain of the lights creeping into the room. Laura and Catrina sit on both sides of you. Your back was on the carpeted floor, your legs up on the wall, earbuds in your ears, the music easily being heard.

“You really have to pull yourself together Y/n,” Laura sighs

“She broke up with you,” Catrina reminds you, “She’s obviously moved on form you.”

“Doesn’t mean I’m over her,” You retort back

“Catrina is right Y/n,” Laura adds, “I’m not just agreeing with her because she’s my girlfriend. But, she is actually right about it. She told you that we’re leaving for college soon and she breaks up with you for that reason. And look where she is, all snuggly with the most fuck boy-fuck boy in the entire school.”

“We also have to figure out our set for the annual high school performing arts showcase.” Catrina adds, “Which is literally our band final...”

You, Catrina, Laura, and Catrina’s friend Klark formed a band as an extra credit opportunity and play in a talent show that your school had put on freshman year, and it stuck since. You were the bassist, Laura was the lead singer and keyboardist, Catrina was on lead guitar band Klark was on drums. You were the only one in the band who also does back vocals.

“Plus, don’t you wanna one-up Cassandra's supposed boy-toy?” Laura adds

The guy Cassandra is seen being snuggly with, was also in band with you... Sadly. He was a Bassist; like you. Because you have more experience in indoor percussion as a bass guitar player, you were given the bass guitar parts while he got the sucky percussion parts. He was jealous of you because of that.

“What’s the point if it won’t catch Cassandra’s attention?” You ask them

“You don’t even need to capture her attention,” Laura tastes, “Maybe you’ll catch the attention of either of her sisters. That red-head was really eyeing you at the last show.”

“Daniela?” you sigh, smiling, “Love the girl, but she’d fall in love with me in an instant, she wouldn’t take the time to know me.”

“What about that blonde one?” Catrina asks

“Bela?” You turn your head towards Catrina, “I’m pretty sure she doesn’t like me that way. Besides, neither of them really understood me growing up like Cassandra did.”

“Just giving you options my guy,” Laura sighs

Catrina and Laura came into your life when you joined the marching band. When Cassandra wasn’t around, those two were there to raise your spirits when you needed it the most.

"Pull your head outta your ass," Laura bluntly tells you, "They're beginning to put up the sign upa for the Music Showcase."

You let out a strangled sigh as you make yourself stand back up. You follow close behind Laura and Catrina as the three of you meet back up with Klark and enter the cafeteria once more. Low and behold, Cassandra's eye-candy is the first at sign ups.

"One man show as always huh Jayce?" Joy asks

Joy was one of your 1st chair flute players. An absolute prodigy if you were honest.

"You know it baby," He winks at her

Laura grabs your wrist and pulls you right to the front of the line, right in front of Jayce.

“Well well well, if it isn’t the one who can’t handle Cassandra,” He attempts to intimidate you

“Pretty sure I’ve been taking care of her all my life,” You sigh

You walk in front of Catrina and Laura, about to pick up the pen to write into the sign-up sheet, but Jayce slams his hand over it.

“Don’t you even think about signing up with your rag-tag group of friends,” he continues to intimidate you.

“Jayce, calm your ass,” Joy pushes him aside, “What he means is, this time you have to have a band name.”

“Why?” Laura asks

“Music recruiters will be there too,” She explains, “Best to also have one in case this is what you decide to do.”

You nod, understanding. You turn to log at Catrina, Klark and then Laura. As you were turning your head back, you see Cassandra at the corner of your eye. You stop to look at her. Jayce stands in front of her, giving you the ‘death glare’.

“Let’s call ourselves [Insert Band Name Here]...” You say, writing your new band name onto the sign up sheet in the last slot, “Gotta save the best for last.”

You fist bump Laura, Catrina and Klark and the four of you make your leave for the band room.

Come Winter...

You were in what was formerly the dance room, tuning your bass as you wait for Laura to return with some food. Your band teacher allowed you and your band to use the old dance room as a practice room for the showcase in a couple of weeks.

“You look tired,” Klark jokes with you

You were obviously laying on the floor, panting for air.

“Ya think?” You joke back, “You get to sit there and drum out. My dream...”

“Wanna switch?” Klark asks

“Yes but no,” You smile, “I could never learn foot independence... Or at least in the timeframe we have left before the showcase.”

You and Klark hear the door open. You jolt up and turn your upper body towards the door, expecting Laura and Catrina.

“The hell do you want?” Klark asks

It was Cassandra...

“I need to talk to y/n,” She says, turning her attention to you

“You had that chance all this time,” You say, “Until you decided to fling yourself on Jayce. When you broke up with me to avoid the heartbreak of being apart due to college. I’m pretty sure that speaks for itself...”

“No, y/n that isn’t the reason I broke up with you, just let me explain-,” Cassandra tries to find the right words

“No!” You yell, “You've made it very clear to me that you no longer want to be with me because you’re too good for me so you decide to find someone who is as ‘good’ for you as you take all of that pride in yourself...”

Cassandra takes a step back, seemingly hurt by your words.

“Now you understand how it felt for me...” You say, “Best if you leave...”

Cassandra pivots her foot and leaves the dance room just as Laura and Catrina arrive.

“What was that about?” Laura asks

You pant... Not knowing what to say.

“It’s nothing,” Was all you could mutter out

You begin strumming nonsense against your bass guitar.

After rehearsal you were making your way out of the band wing; you hear a buzzer go off. You look over and you see a basketball land bounce off a rim. Feeling curious, you open the doors and peek your head through the entryway; Cassandra and her sisters on the court.

“Y/n!” Joy calls, motioning you over

Shrugging your shoulders, you walk over.

“What are you doing here?” She asks you, “I never see you here anymore.”

“Might as well drop by for a little while,” You sigh

You walk up the bleachers and sit at the farthermost point along the home bleachers.

When Cassandra looked up while on the court, she spots you in the crowd.

“Y/n?” She asks herself

However, one of the opposing team members knocks herself into her, knocking Cassandra to the ground. You felt your entire body scoot forward on the bleachers.

“Cass!” Bela calls for a time-out

Her and Daniela help Cassandra back to her feet. However, she begins hobbling.

“Ow...” Cassandra winces

From on top of the bleachers to the court sidelines, you’re there. Hoisting her arm over your shoulder, your arm around her waist.

“Y/n?” Bela and Daniela call out to you

“Hi...” You greet the both of them before you walk her out of the gym and into the ‘Sport Therapy’ room

“Seems like you’ve sprained your ankle,” The nurse examines, “Pretty serious too. You’ve got a good friend, quick on her feet too, considering Y/n was on top of the bleachers.”

“Tell me about it,” Cassandra chuckles, leaving a smiles

She looks up to you, hoping you’d catch the smile you always loved; but you were looking in another direction, biting the knuckle of your index finger, trying to force yourself to stop your hand shaking.

“You’re going to need to be on crutches for a little while, as well as wearing a splint,” The nurse suggests, “I assume she’s your ride?”

Just then, Bela and Daniela come in.

“Nope,” You answer, brushing past the red-head and blonde.

“Was she?” Daniela turns to Cassandra

“Wearing your team jacket?” Bela finishes Daniela’s sentence

When you finally got home you place your bass guitar against the wall, hang Cassandra’s Basketball team jacket on the pole of your bed and prop yourself into your bed, sighing. Your family wasn’t really around anymore. They were always busy doing business overseas, basically leaving you the house. Of course, they’d send money for any necessities you needed while they were gone. But, it was lonely... Excluding your cat.

What a day... Maybe I’ll just close my eyes for... A... Bit...

You jolt up in your bed at the sound of your door being pounded on. You must have passed out because you look at your clothing; still in the day’s clothing. You trudge through your luxurious house to the front door.

“Do you have any idea what time it is?” You growl

However, once your eyes adjust, your eyes widen.

“Cassandra?” You ask, “What are you doing here?”

“I can’t sleep because of my stupid sisters,” She sighs, “I wasn’t sure if you were awake...”

“I wasn’t...” You groan, “Go home...”

You were about to close the door on her however, she shoves her foot through the bottom of the door.

“Wait.. Please...” She begs, “I really can’t sleep over there... One night Y/n... Please...”

Feeling slightly sorry, you make space for her, enough for her to enter your house.

“Want anything?” You open your fridge door and grabbing a water bottle

“Pass,” She sighs, immediately walking up the stairs

You follow behind her as she enters your room. Before you could protest her sleeping in your room, Cassandra leaps into your bed, immediately getting underneath your vast amount of blankets.

“Alright,” You sigh

You turn your heel towards the door before you felt Cassandra’s hand grab on yours.

“Stay... Please...” She begs

“I swear if this is some stupid ploy you’re in on with Jayce-”

“It isn’t!” She yells, “It’s all me... It’s all me... I want to feel you again... I don’t even want sex I just need you...”

You stand there, perplexed. You pinch the bridge of your nose and let out a frustrated growl.

“Fine...” You growl, “One night Cassandra. One. Night. But... You will have to let go of my hand... Don’t wanna sleep in the same clothing I went to school in..”

She lets go of your hand as you walk towards your closet, stripping off your shirt, jeans: not caring if Cassandra was watching. You slip on comfy shorts and you turn your frontal side back to her.

“Please tell me you weren’t watching the entire time were you?...” You ask

“Only all of it,” She smirks at you

“You sure haven’t changed... That part of you at least...” You sigh

As soon as you get underneath the covers, she could her arms around you: you let out a gritted inhale.

“God Cassandra you’re cold...” You hiss

“And you’re warm,” Cassandra ‘argues’ back

You sigh as Cassandra tucks her head into the crook of your neck. You let out a soft sigh as you adjust yourself to feel more comfortable.

“This isn’t you wanting to cheat... Right?” You ask

“That depends if we want to relieve the sexual tension between the both of us right now,” Cassandra says

Sexual tension?! There is none between us... At least... There shouldn’t be one right?

“It’s 3am Cassandra...” You yawn, making an excuse

You weren’t sure if you were dreaming or not, but you opened your eyes: feeling half awake and your eyes unable to adjust fully to the dark bedroom, you see a figure hovering over you. You opened your mouth to speak. No words came out. You felt the figure’s hair sprawl across either side of your head, tickling your ears. Silky fingers tickle your cheeks as the face draws near. You could tell by the hair that it was a female. But who exactly was the question. Her lips came into contact with yours: didn’t crash into yours, not a full on make out session; the kiss was soft... Almost too soft. Your eyes closed again: the overwhelming need for sleep kicking in again.

Arcade Review

I attended VCF Midwest 18 (retro computing festival) in Chicago with my dad this last weekend and we stopped by the Galloping Ghost Arcade. I jotted down a list of the games we played and figured I’d flesh that out with some notes/context for tumblr.

1. Tron - they had both the original machine and the Discs of Tron machine. Considering we had both brought Tron shirts, this was a hit with us.

2. Qix - I’m familiar with the “cut off the box while something bounces around in it” genre and I had heard this name before but I don’t think I’d ever connected those dots before. I wanna play some more of this one sometime.

3. Asteroids - a classic and not much to add, but the vector graphics were so bright and vivid here that it really looked cool. and the momentum feels pretty good too on the ship.

4. Street fighter/mortal Kombat - we played MK2 and 4 which was good fun, I’d like to play more of all of them. And we did one round of SF1-4 which was super fun. I wish it was easier to get into fighting games. And that I didn’t have to pick one main!

5. Commander havoc - this really impressed with the vivid vector graphics and interesting track-cylinder controls. I didn’t even get to the platforming part until playing later in the Atari collection on my vita! Which emulates the track-cylinder using the touch screen which is a nice touch, never heard of this game before

6. Battle zone - again, this is familiar territory but playing with the real headset and joysticks really elevates it.

7. Batman forever - this one was just silly, the photo scans of the actors looks so goofy on top of the movie already being goofy

8. Berzerk - a favorite of my dad’s

9. Wizards of Wor - this one played like Pac-Man if Pac-Man has a gun, really wasn’t bad despite never hearing of it before

10. Dragon’s lair - got further than I think I ever have before, new goal of mine is to actually beat this game or at least watch the full “movie”

11. Capcom vs - always fun until the game actually starts lol, love the rosters but I suck at these even more than normal fighting games. Highlight was my dad recognizing a couple character from tatsunoko and promptly kicking my butt with them

12. Dungeon and dragons hack and slash - already own this at home but always fun to see, I really ought to beat my copy sometime with someone else

13. Virtual fighter/tekken - again, takes me back to a simpler time but I need a local player 2 for these to be fun

14. Darius - I think we played the oldest and newest one. Neat novelty for the wide wide screen. On the old one, you can tell it’s a CRT in the middle flanked by mirrors reflecting CRTs on the bottom of the machine. I have burst on my vita and never played it before, it’s cool to see how arcade accurate it is now!

15. Silent scope - always gotta pop my head in here because it’s a fun novelty, I should try the home port someday for fun

16. La machine guns rage of the machines - I have this on Wii but it was fun to play the arcade version! I was surprised by how strong the rumble was. I need to play this, NY gunblade, and ghost squad more at home with my legit Wii zappers

17. Aerosmith - never knew this existed and boy is it buckwild and kind of hilarious. Never would’ve expected the Aerosmith game to be a rail shooter

18. Moonwalker - we played this for about 30 seconds before sharing nervous laughter and moving on

19. Journey - we called this one out ahead of time thinking it surely wouldn’t be here. Plays like tron where it’s actually 5 minigames featuring poorly digitized heads of the band members. Pretty funny

20. Resident evil gun survivor 2 - this was really curious! You aim with a lighting but also move by using the light gun as a joystick. Pretty neat but the multiplayer didn’t work for us. Looks like there’s a home port exclusive to EU/JP? I’d love to play more of this oddity

21. Castlevania arcade? - I think this was just a port of Castlevania 1 but still interesting

22. Super Mario bros versus - couldn’t tell if this was different from Mario 1 at all functionally but playing with an arcade joystick and buttons was neat!

23. Mario bros - I’m so used to the remake included with GBA Mario games that the original makes me embarrass myself when I play it

24. Donkey kong - I need to actually clear all the stages at least once

25. Sinistar - my dad clutched a win against the S man himself, kinda neat how this game has multiple phases and free movement

26. Star Wars arcade - we played a super low poly one because it was 2 player with a much higher poly one next to us but single player only. Also played a ROTJ speeder bike game with neat handlebar controls

27. Defender/Stargate - a classic, I need to get decent at this one sometime

28. Tempest - TxK was the first game I got on my vita and I didn’t really get it, but now I get it more and the graphics really impresses. I’d like to play more versions of this game

29. Pac-Man/mania - a staple like bread or eggs. Maybe someday I’ll play all them in order

30. Joust/2 - this was super fun. Really shines in PvPvE with an uncertain alliance. Transforming the mount in the sequel is neat, had never seen it.

31. Warlords - 4 player pong basically, but also reminded me a bit of boom blox. Keeping an eye out for this one now.

32. Night driver - never heard of it before but kind of fun

33. Pole position - feels so much better with a real wheel and pedal

34. Qbert - terrible at it but cute

35. Spy Hunter 2 - pretty fun in 2 player mode actually

36. Speed racer - this really surprised, this was super fun. Jumping over my dad was the highlight until we both collectively ran off a cliff and quit

37. Gauntlet dark legacy - somehow plays way worse than the GameCube version? But fun seeing this guy here

38. Robocop/2 - first one sucked, second one relatively impressed especially with the Wild Guns-Esque shooting gallery minigame

39. Contra - we had just played the DS Contra 4 so we had to play this one for comparison. As hard as I remember, especially for him lol. Also played an odd 2.5D contra in Japanese. I got the feeling it was a phone game port and googling now confirms yes, it is, called Contra Evolution

40. Ikari warriors - fun to play because of the unique twisting joystick. My dad lamented that we didn’t get to the tanks

41. Crystal castles - my dad showed off a secret warp trick on the first try that I managed to recreate on my vita port that uses the touch screen as a trackball. Way cooler with trackpad than joystick like I’d played before. Also always think of the musical artist

42. Cyberball - hot nonsense, he crushed me. Fun dual screen corner setup

43. Sonic the fighters - I had thought it would be fun if they had this one and they did! Didn’t play long but just fun to see it show up

44. Segasonic - this was my wildest guess as to what could even appear here, very happy to see it! My only chance to ever really play this game. Sadly, had a rude guest next ti me during it

45. Yi are king fu - this was high on my dad’s list and did in fact appear, he blazed through the first five levels quickly. I’d like to try and play this a bit more

46. Ring king - boxing game my dad was looking for, we really struggled to get started with the controls

47. Punch out - it was neat to get to play the arcade original with the wireframe graphics like his alternate costumes in smash bros

48. Judge dredd - this one was just kinda funny, classic stiff digitized photo graphics ala mortal kombat

49. 3D xevious - had never seen this, kinda neat

50. Super puzzle fighter - a favorite of my mother’s, fun to see the cabinet version. Especially since the XBLA port is weirdly compromised in some ways

51. Space invaders - this one was fun because it had a physical background graphic that the game sprites seemed to hover above, which was much more impressive than seeing just the game sprites in isolation

52. Mega man power battle - I had beaten both of these before on the capcom arcade collection for $1.99 a pop, but playing and seeing a real cabinet was a real treat

53. Paperboy - I always associated this game with the NES but the arcade version with a unique handlebar controller is a lot more charming. Still far too hard.

54. Pit fighter - so bad it’s good, this was on my dad’s list

55. Quake - this was a curious one, having to aim and move with just arcade buttons

56. Star Trek - pretty cute vector game, the Split View of first persons and top down is pretty neat

57. Cliff Hanger - fascinatingly, a laserdisc game in the style of Dragon’s Lair but repurposing clips from Lupin III without advertising itself as such.

58. Wrestlemania - not my first time playing this one, but always fun to see the super over the top moves

59. Rampart - one of my dad’s favorites, admittedly kind of advanced for the time with the base building in between rounds. Kind of an addicting gameplay loop if I am being honest

60. Quantum - super cute vector game with trackball that plays like Pokémon ranger where you have to draw circles around objects. Pretty good game feel, curious about this one

Didn’t get to play:

Popeye - favorite of my dad’s, screen broke

Star Wars episode 4 - similar

Mk3 - working but poor screen, my favorite MK

Soul calibur - the only had 2 and we ended up skipping it anyways

Silent hill - beautifully giant machine but was either down for repair or occupied

Monkey ball - had that silly banana joystick but down for repair

Resident evil Omegaverse AU

Remember! im not a English mother language! so if you find some error pls tell me and i correct the error!

Omegaverse is one of my favorite drugs, if you add Mpreg you give me a very big joy! So i have decide to make my personal version of Omegaverse in Re fandom!

Some Info is inspired from @sparkie96 works!

!!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!!

My omegaverse is slightly different than most works I've gotten my hands on! Omega males DO NOT own a vagina! but the entrance to the reproductive system is located in the rectal area! When they go into pre-heat they will have very strong abdominal cramps because the canal has a muscle that "moves" when they go into heat, to close the digestive tract and open the reproductive canal, these cramps will also be there after the heat which will last about 2/3 days (together with the pre heat and the post heat it will last approximately 6/7 days). The look doesn't differ much! the bicinii is slightly wider than normal! They won't keep them growing when pregnant! his pecs will simply swell and that's it!

Omegaverse in RE fandom!

In the world of Resident evil, omegas are really rare (3% of the entire world population), because they have particularly difficult genes to breed!, but they are not seen as weak, needy and that must be protected. Law enforcement agencies such as Police, Special Forces and others seek them out for use in rescue missions, because due to their nature they are able to calm down and help kidnap victims, such as in the case of Ashley's kidnapping. They are trained to resist psychologically to pheromones of any kind, and to bear severe physical and psychological trauma. Betas are the highest percentage of all (about 60% of the world population), they are very normal humans, pheromones do not affect them at all, and they only use them to recognize people. Alphas make up a good percentage, but not as much as betas (about 30%), they are men who are relatively strong and dedicated to protecting the people they love.

i was wondering if you could talk about dylan's tattoos, if that's not a huge spoiler. what are some tattoos she has/when did she get her first one/do any of them have special significance to her? (also does she get annoyed at people asking her about them. i know a lot of people with many tattoos do)

dylan waited until she was 18 to get tattoos, because despite all of the other illegal activities she was doing at the time, she thought it "wasn't legal to get one before then"! they're not a spoiler, and they're all based within three categories:

• coping with death (now with a fun pop twist!)

• esoterica and good luck charms to combat her bad luck (bastardized and made cute!)

• she was an 18 year old who wanted some tattoos and didn't think that she would have to live to deal with the consequences of still having such dumb tattoos.

DISCLAIMER: some other people have designed tattoos for dylan before, too, and i love those so much :D these are just the tattoo designs i had imagined at first.

a few from each category;

1st category:

1. "don't fear the reaper" tattoos, one on her arm w/ a scythe taking root. absolutely has never heard the song, saw the title and immediately ran with it. a reference to the (don't fear) the reaper mission in cyberpunk 2077 (which is the ending my file for dylan picks also so :B)

2. her sister's initials tattooed on her arm. she got it done while synth-coked up at her academy graduation; it was the first time she'd seen her sister in years, and the last time she's seen her in years. got her autograph on her arm and tattooed it after.

3. her really mean highschool nickname "killshot" is on her knuckles. it sounds really dumb. it is. came from her first round of loyalty testing @ the academy and was dubbed as such for a short period of time after Not Hesitating to zero her girlfriend at the time.

4. skellyhands on the back of her neck 2 indicate death having a grip on her or something dramatic.

2nd category:

1. her first three-card tarot reading after quitting her job, tattooed on the inside of her arm. apparently, she liked her results.

2. a rabbit with a dotted line wrapped around its foot to indicate cutting, the number 13 plastered around a few places, mostly notably makes use of the hanged man and death as the tarot she associates w/ herself.

3. the evil eye is peppered around. an awful, bastardized version of it resides on the back of her hands; big, soppy anime eyes. yes, she will insist that it is still the evil eye.

4. pagan protection symbols and all sorts of good luck charms.

3rd category:

1. snake wrapped around a sword going down her throat; just thought it would be Really Cool and also be an interesting pickup line.

2. a giant bow is tattooed in between her tiddies; once again makes for a pretty good pickup line

3. the tattoos on her thighs are from a "trip" in which she watched a specific old vid where the main characters find themselves to not be in kansas anymore. it's like. their Evil versions. toto is eating people like a zombie. the tinman is crying. (yes, she does want a cover up.)

none of dylan's tattoos have been acquired in the way we get them in 2022. she opts for the 2077 method of having a ripperdoc stab a numbing serum into your arm and tattoo the design on in an automatic machine. if she had to get a tattoo traditionally, she simply would not.

a lot of the symbols she uses are absolutely taken out of context, inconsiderately used, and bastardized: this is on purpose design-wise! she lives in a world where the esoteric shop offers "crystal radiation healing"! everything's been commandeered for profit! nothing has meaning anymore!

also the layout of her tattoos was based off of ryan from inkmaster...... sorry

she doesn't get irritated if you ask about her tattoos, but frazzled. no, she doesn't have a cool reason why she got that one. she doesn't even remembering getting it. she just wanted a tattoo. wants to seem like she has a Deep Meaning for all of them but she just doesn't, and asking about them means you'll find that out

EDIT because i forgot to answer some questions: she doesn't remember the first one she got, but it's a stupid little checkered heart on her arm. her sister's initials and her three-card reading have the most meaning to her :^)

“Fi, are you sure this is the way to Pumpkin Con? We’re in the middle of the woods and I don’t even see the festival grounds anymore.” said Dime.

“Uhh, yeah. There was a sign like 20 mins back that pointed at a building saying that was where Pumpkin Con was but that doesn’t make sense like what kinda Pumpkin Con takes place indoors? Plus it’s an escape room so obviously it was trying to mislead us.”

“…Fi.”

“Dime.”

“We already beat the escape room like an hour ago!”

Fi paused and was seemingly trying to hide something behind her back.

“Mmmm. I wish you told me that earlier. I sorta searched some dude’s carriage cuz I thought it’d have some clues or something on how to escape this maze. In hindsight I’m seeing that I got us lost and also this thing is way too fancy to be a prop.”

She held up a thick book made up leather that radiated a faint purple glimmer.

“Holy shit. Yeah that’s fancy alright.” Dime said.

“I opened it to see if it’d have any clues or directions to the con but none of them really make sense. Like what does mooaloomoo even mean?” Fi asked.

As she spoke the words, the aura around the book grew and briefly extended as far as they could see before returning back to its small glow.

They paused and looked at each other.

“Okay that didn’t look like directions to me.” said Fi.

“So. Shall we run?” asked Dime.

“Ya.”

The two dashed toward the direction they came from, hoping to not have forgotten any steps but it was a bit difficult to recall which way they headed in the woods.

Fi tried to check her phone but her battery was already at 1% and what if she needed it for more important things like keeping a Snapchat streak?

Dime was also the owner of a dead phone, with their only hope being able to remember the way back.

But neither of them could remember. They were beginning to lose hope and accept that they will miss that day’s Pumpkin Con. At the height of their despair, that’s when they heard a voice.

“Moo?”

It was a cow. Then another. Ten cows?

Fi and Dime were surrounded by cows and the herd seems to be attached to them. One walked up to Fi and rubbed its head on her.

Another started sniffing Dime’s hand and licking them.

“The book did this? Pretty cool but I can’t imagine what magician would need this spell.” said Dine.

“Okay but like.. I love this and I might do this too all the time.” Fi replied.

“That’s true it is kind of lovely. Be better if we weren’t lost though.”

The cows seemed to look at the two of them with concern. They understood the sentiments of the two!

“Hey Dime, you know what Pumpkin Con has a lot of? Cows of course! Maybe these guys can lead us back there! And also maybe love us enough to hide the fact that I stole this book from someone!”
