tbh I don't think Kendra did much of the actual engineering part of all those schemes to kill Don, which is why she was taken off-guard when they failed. like she did do the planning, sure, she's an overdramatic Wile E Coyote just like him, but Jase and Jeremy had to build the machines for her bc every time she tried she got distracted thinking about that goddamn frog's stupid muscles and stupid face and STUPID theatre kid voice and why the fuck did he have to meet all her standards- aaand now she's got like three different soldering iron burns. oops.

it works out fine because Jeremy is better at engineering and Jase is better at coding, she's more of an all-rounder whose talents lie in figuring out how to make disparate pieces work together, but nonetheless they did still have to suffer through her complaining about the AUDACITY of this Othello Von Ryan guy to be so annoying and so hot AND so smart at the same time. how dare he make it difficult for her to truly hate him. clearly these are acceptable grounds for murder. (she bought them both Starbucks afterwards to make up for it)

You know, I'm taking this and eating it right up!! Like I said before, I really like character development and them having a turnaround from villainy to something different. Kendra is no exception to that in my AU and mayhaps she just needs some nice people to show her the way. I was also considering to have her go into a different field when it comes to her job and I'm liking the idea I have more and more so maybe I'll stick to that.. I have also accepted the headcanon that she calls Donnie Frog whenever she sees him from now on.

Futaba's hacking also helps save the protagonist's life at one point. Like that's literally a huge plot point in the True Ending of Persona 5 and 5R. She's amazing."

If you LIKE TOTK that's fine I don't need to tell you that, you don't need me to tell you that. I don't care or mind if people like things I don't but I also know sometimes it's hard to see people giving criticism towards things you like. I digress.

As a fan of BOTW, having experienced it first, I will say it's obviously impacted how I view TOTK. If TOTK came out with no history of BOTW it might have been a different story I honestly don't know. There are a lot of things I like about TOTK but they're mostly flavor and don't actually like matter ie they could've not existed in favor of major changes to make TOTK and BOTW more cohesive.

Things I like about TOTK:

-More unique horses, upgrading horses, more horse colors

-More enemies and a variety of enemies.

-More outfits for Link. Super fun and super creative on these ones. Love em!

-The IDEA, and almost idea ALONE, the depths and the sky islands. Didn't love how they played out

-Monster raid battles, they are fun! Once again, don't love how they played out though. I feel mostly neutral about them if not somewhat positive about them. Wish they wouldn't have put one right in front of Fort Hateno.

-Intractable dragons! Love the elemental dragon upgrade.

-Idea of a customizable house and the variety of parts you can put into the house plot.

-The ability to grab almost everything although I truly did not mind that being limited to just metal objects. I liked the restriction and felt it appropriately challenging. It could've just been an upgrade later in the game of magnesis. Ultrahand is FINE like I said. Have the ability to move normal boulders is nice but ultimately unnecessary. They built a game when you can move a boulder through game mechanics and physics and it was FUN.

-Anyway, Ultrahand was fine. I liked being able to move the horse carts.

-THE HORSE CARRIAGES and towing stuff that was 💯🤌♥️ a beautiful addition

-The idea of repairing things in Hyrule but ultimately a lackluster use and follow through in this too. Repairing the bridge to the rito village was super fun to me.

-The flora and fauna additions that WERE THERE.

-Caves!

-Bulbul frogs

-How inventory items have use now but! Once again once again there is a common theme here, I don't love how they actually implemented it. Not EVERY item needed a use tbh. It didn't, we didn't need that ability. It is wild to go back to BOTW and notice you can't throw items but not having to navigate that item menu is a fucking blessing. Throwing items and attaching them to arrows etc is super fun though.

-Some of the new missions were super fun

-Monster hit list missions!!!! Personal taste maybe but I looooove most hunting missions.

-Zelda and Dragon Zelda ngl that shit was cool but like exclusively that fact and nothing else related to that. No story line stuff or the ending or anything else

-BOSSES AND BOSS FIGHTS! AND and and refightable boss fights because ngl they DID go off with the boss fights. Really cool use of how large the game is plus the physics of the game.

-Wellssssss loved the wells

Ok!!! Not a comprehensive list but! I DO like things about TOTK. Am I still a hater yes absolutely I fucking hate like 80% of that game and things surrounding it. I really really do but there were some really pleasant things about it too. Just not enough to appease me for the things that in my opinion sucked ass and were intentionally bad decisions.

I used to always try to come up with some answer to this to please people but i didnt have one past 3rd grade bc i absolutely detested school, the educational systems and academia so fuck no, no favorite subjects. Fuck schools.

(The one good school i went to grade pre till 3rd i enjoyed also had really good pedagogists. In 3rd grade i think i loved math the most bc my teacher designed individual plans for us and my classmate and i raced to finish higher level work, in 2nd i think it was the class where we read and wrote and were creative like think tank and reading dino topia and writing our own magical treehouse, in 1st grade it was science and experementing and the frogs and butterfly class.

On my own time i watched so many animal rescue shows and nation geography and we had so many of their magazines and natyre magazines my mother got that were sorted out from the library. And i read a lot of history books about ancient and pre-historic times and different cultures and that was great. I was also obsessed with animals and read cyclodpedias and had them quickly memorized. But by the time i was 9 i was too depressed and i dont know shit anymore my brain too forgetful

and that's why i'm so mad about the school systems bc i truly loved, loved learning. But even the good school would give me failing grades for my social behavior. And without ranting even further, lets just say math used to be like breathing for me and now i can barely put 48+32 together without a calculater anymore bc my brain is so dead

So much more complicated issues yeah but school still makes me so fucking mad)

i did hanzoooo (but i’m always down to do more pff) but i’ll do lucio cuz tbh i had to think about this a bit. what ARE my headcanons for my favorite frog boy 🤔

Sexuality Headcanon: this is a good question—i think for him it’s about the vibes—is he vibing with someone. tbh lucio strikes me as someone who falls in love with a lot of people in a lot of different ways; he’s always in love with someone or something. but at the same time i don’t know if the concept of being with someone is something that he’s truly thought out. he’s always on the move, always on the go, always living life to the fullest extent and in a manner of ways i think he just needs someone (or potentially plural) that matches his energy. might be poly-pan perhaps, i think that would work for him.

Gender Headcanon: nb masculine would be a fun headcanon for him tbh. i don’t know if i’m that pressed i just know he’s a dude lol

A ship I have with said character: i’m actually a pretty big bunnyribbit fan and when i’m not losing my mind over hana and daehyun (the real otp) then these two are always thick as thieves to me. just as i was talking about in the sexuality headcanon, i think hana just matches his energy. Ok, someone has to draw Figure as a Dino. But I got to know what the other's reactions to Halloween are? Especially the younger entities.

do you enjoy reading ancient greek stuff too? i read the illiad, odyssey and oedipus in high school but since then nothing, but i was thinking of reading more since so much of literature was inspired by classic greek. thoughts?

idk how to read ancient greek unfortch so I actually haven't read much past the homeric epics and a handful of plays, but I think if you want to get into it, just look for anne carson's translations and you cannot go wrong! her sappho, her sophocles, her euripides.. but yeah as far as classics go, I'm far more well-versed in latin; I think latin is actually fun to read & translate it's like a puzzle that requires u to know about sentence structure & etymology!!! ok latin rant over read anne carson 👀

You might be hearing noise about the eminent emergence in the United States of Brood X cicadas in 2021.  “So what?” you may ask. “Cicadas are found everywhere.  How else would the trees scream?”

Cicadas are found globally, you’re right!  Their sing their head-splitting songs every summer in both hemispheres.  But those are annual cicadas.  Brood X is part of a uniquely eastern North American species group known as periodic cicadas.  They belong to the entirely appropriately named genus Magicicada. Unlike annual cicadas, who stay underground as nymphs for a year or two before emerging as adults to scream their butts off, mate, and die, Magicicadas stay underground for 13 or 17 years.  They are some of the longest-lived insects!

The easiest way to differentiate periodic cicadas from annual cicadas is 1) geography - are you not in Eastern North America? then it’s not a periodic cicada - and 2) eyes - Magicicadas are black-bodied with ominous red eyes, while all other cicadas in Eastern North America have green and brownish eyes.

Periodic cicadas are already wild - I mean, living underground for 13? 17? years???  A PRIME NUMBER??? IN MY NATURE????? - but their species complexes are a confusing jumble of specific epithets that are befitting the orgies they have when they emerge as adults.

See, when periodic cicadas emerge as adults, they don’t just pop out every few hectares like annual cicadas, creating a gentle chorus of song to accompany the graceful sway of the meadow grass; period cicadas emerge EN MASS, millions per hectare, at least one adult cicada per square meter.  They form dense aggregations in the trees after crawling out of the ground, molting, and then starting to scream.  The males are doing the singing with their butts: The first section of their abdomen has a pair of vibrating structures of ridged membranes called tymbals and the rest of the abdomen is hollow and amplifies the song.  Females do not have tymbals, so they cannot scream.  Both sexes have hearing organs on their abdomen called tympana (which I have totally never confused for the tymbal and grossly embarrassed myself in front of other entomologists, nope, never) to find (or avoid) the songs of the males.

Cicada songs are unique to the species, which is useful, because multiple species can emerge in a given year.  Millions and millions of bugs popping out of the ground, all screaming, and the only way to figure out who is mate with is the specific way the butt vibrates.  Sounds like a challenge. These mass emergences are called broods or year-class (designated by Roman numerals), and this is where the real craziness comes in.

There are three species groups in Magicicada that have distinct endings to the specific epithet (-decim, -cassini and -decula), and each groups has a least two members. We know of seven species, four with a 13-year life cycle, and three with a 17-year life cycle.  Each species is more closely related to other members of its own species group (the distinct endings of the names) than to others with the same life cycle (13 vs 17).  In other words, the 17-year Magicicada septendecim is more closely related to the 13-year Magicicada neotredecim than it is the 17-year Magicicada tredecassini!  How the FUCK did that evolve??

Remember, cicada may live for a long time as nymphs, snug underground, sucking on tree roots, but the adults only live for a season: Scream, fly, fuck, die (not a bad life, tbh).  The year you emerge, that is the year you mate.  What weird selection pressures and epigenetic carry-overs can make a subset of a population suddenly switch from 13 years as a nymph to 17, or vice versa???  You can’t just be off by a year, emerging early or late, because that screws up the benefits of primes.  Because of how bizarre the situation is - I mean, prime numbers, honestly - it’s generally assumed that Magicicadas neatly avoided predation as a selection pressure by utilizing that prime-number system: Predators have a pretty difficult time synchronizing to a weirdo cycle like that.  Predators do take advantage of the mass emergences, because, fuck yeah, abundant protein.  (This includes humans too:  Take off the wings, legs, and heads, batter-dip, and fry.  There are cookbooks for them!) But that doesn’t explain the shifts back and forth from 13 to 17.  Most entomologists that specialize in cicadas think it is likely climate-driven, which is a bit ambiguous, but ecology is fucking hard and nailing down any one or few of the multitude of environmental variables that drive anything is a fundamental challenge of the science (she says from experience >_>).

Now, given there are only so many species and there is a distinct cycle to their emergence, we can predict who comes out when.  There are 12 broods of 17-year cicadas (with five year-classes containing no cicadas), and 3 broods of 13-year cicadas (with ten empty year-classes).  Most of the year-classes contain a mixture of 13- or 17-year species, with a couple exceptions. Brood VII contains only one 17-year species and 13-year Brood XXII has all but one of the 13-year species.  This means that we can also get overlaps!  In 2024, Brood XIII (17-year cicadas) and Brood XIX (13-year cicadas) will be emerging together!

Brood X, coming out this year, is a big fucking brood.  Some broods are small, isolated to state-sized or smaller regions.  But not Brood X.  Here is the map of their emergence.  Solid symbols are certain records; hollow are suspect historical records.

For the next brood that should come out in 2022, Brood XI, was last seen in 1954. Brood XI was a small 17-year brood, isolated to southern New England, and the only study that has looked at the Brood XI extinction suggests that it was driven by climatic shifts as opposed to the only obvious anthropogenic influence to affect cicadas (deforestation and fragmentation), but the timing is weird and coincides with other major insect population declines for the area.  Brood XI is one of two broods to go extinct (the other is Brood XXI from the Florida panhandle).  Pour one out to remember what we have lost.

So, my fellow USAians, I give you something that is uniquely American.  Something we can take pride in.  Something found no where else in the world.  Something that truly makes our continent great.  Embrace them.  Love them.  Our backyards hold unique wonders.

my thoughts on TUA season 2

(spoilers, obviously)

- opened with Klaus and Ben, my kings. Klaus’s hair looks so weird straightened while short 

- AWESOME opening soundtrack 

- seeing all their powers so controlled makes me wonder how they leveled up to that skill in the alternate timeline. like the only time we saw Klaus use the powers of other ghosts in the correct timeline was when two of them caught him falling out of the sky. however Diego did end up controlling bullets and Allison used her voice to technically kill one of the Swedes

- the homeless man screaming Allison’s name alongside Luther... funny shit

- big teddy bear Hazel

- Elliot was fucking awesome i think he was a great addition as a side character. rip tho :(

- honestly i don’t understand why Diego would WANT to save JFK. like it’s not that big of a deal. does he not understand what messing with the timeline can do??

- Ben and Klaus definitely act like they should be, given that they’ve been stuck with each other for over a decade. i’ve seen some people calling Klaus an asshole for not telling his siblings about Ben, which is completely understandable (cause he was an asshole), but I’m guessing it was because he was afraid? that sharing Ben with his siblings would mean that he would lose him to them, or his siblings would find him selfish, or they would ask something of him that he couldn’t give. if that makes sense

- that ghost bitch comment was funny tho 

- to the guy who called Klaus pretty boy at the bar: sir you don’t know what you’re getting into

- Raymond!! he’s such a sweetheart, i really liked him in the show. i’m really happy that Allison has found a bit of normalcy (as normal as the 1960s Civil Rights movement could be). it shows how passionate she is about what she believes in: even though she knows the movement is far from over, even back in 2019, she’s not gonna abandon it

- Allison staring at the moon every night: either thinking about Luther or how the moon blows them all up. maybe both

- of course Luther would be working for Jack Ruby

- awesome cinematography during the mental asylum escape 

- yeah it makes sense that the Handler would still be alive. she was a cool villain. although it would’ve been awesome to see how evil a fish could be

- honestly i was scared that Klaus was gonna be overly attracted to him or whatever, which would be weird cause he’s years younger than Klaus, but honestly, at the core he just wanted to save Dave’s life. even if it means never meeting him in a different timeline. he truly loved Dave. and that ptsd flashback was done so well

- i knew Lila wasn’t trustworthy but i didn’t REALLY expect that! 

- Vanya and Luther talking with each other, Luther admitting the apocalypse wasn’t all her fault. beautiful

- the Majestic 12 reminds me of the conspiracy theory that only a few families control basically everything in the world. the Majestic 12 may be based off of that, idk

- idk about everyone else but Klaus’s scorpion and the frog story made total sense to me! frogs ARE bitches

- the diner scene.... ugh. it really shows that the two of them did fall in love and they did stupid in love things, like talking about their family, about why Dave wanted to join, favorite colors, favorite foods, etc. however that’s seen later on when Dave visits the compound

- yes it’s very disheartening when Klaus is attacked, but honestly i think it had to happen, just like the riot had to happen. the 60s weren’t a fun time for lgbt people and poc. it was only going to be a matter of time before the show HAD to acknowledge the consequences of Klaus’s ‘flamboyancy’ in 1963 Texas. it doesn’t make it right or easy to see, but it’s realistic. 

- it also makes sense that Klaus fell off the wagon after experiencing something like that. yes we all would’ve liked him to stay sober, but sobriety and recovery aren’t linear. 

- Allison is so happy with Ray can we please drop this pseudo-incest plotline let’s MOVE ON 

- Texas Grace ! who is not actually Grace rip (i think? i was a bit confused lol)

- the scene with Harlan running off was really upsetting but we got to see those weird light particles that we saw in the first season

- Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo

- Klaus being a dick to Ben again, as brothers do. i do feel bad for Ben though it must be sooo frustrating. that scene with him and Allison was really sweet and funny tho

- i just have to say that Luther and Diego are so fucking funny this season it’s awesome. like there are a LOT of good lines overall by everyone but they’re hilarious. “At least he didn’t shank my ass” “no bro, he shanked your heart”“Dads part of a sinister CABAL that’s plotting on killing the president.” “a caBAL?”“You two still a thing? *leans in* do we need to talk?” “No, she’s married.” “Woah dude... that’s rough.” and countless others

- the sibling reunion!!

- sisters and Klaus!! that was so awesome to see. and Klaus’s hairpins, Vanya saying she’s gonna tell Sissy she loves her, their dance sequence, Klaus calling Allison out on that incest. beautiful

- the fucking Swedish cover of Hello was PERFECT i mean i was sad for the Swedes but it was hilarious. there were a couple beautiful shots of the boat on fire though

- god it must’ve been so traumatizing for Allison to be thrust into such a hostile place with no voice and no way to contact her family

- calling Ben that he was becoming their father was a bit uncalled for 

- the fact that Klaus didn’t help Dave’s chances, and in fact escalated Dave’s own timeline.. his trembling hands... robert sheehan is an amazing actor

- the way Reginald spoke to Diego.. i’m gonna throw hands with an old man

- Klaus LITERALLY looked like he was having a seizure and they all just... played it off?? 

- poor, poor Carl. nah fuck him lol

- that bloody opening scene was awesome! and thank god Five got to say fuck. the fact that it was about a candy bar makes too much sense

- Robert Sheehan acting as Ben: amazing showstopping spectacular he’s so talented

- the whole multiple Fives and Luther bit was honestly really funny, and i immensely respect smaller Five over bigger Five. 

- yes Klaus, you survived a family of seven. you got this

- not sad about Carl dying one bit!

- Ben... that was such a beautiful scene. not just the content of the scene, but the cinematography. Ben fading away... Vanya hugging him... ugh. the main takeaway i had from that scene is that at the core of it all, Ben and Klaus love each other immensely. they have a weird, dysfunctional, fucked up relationship, where Klaus is an asshole and Ben definitely shouldn’t of possessed him without his consent, but they’re still brothers, and Ben forgives him. 

- oof Ben’s funeral was hard. also was it just me or did Klaus’s kid actor sound weird? like it sounded like Robert was dubbing his lines 

- all the siblings back together again!!!! Klaus going with Vanya to save Harlan!! Vanya telling him Ben forgives him and that it wasn’t Klaus’s fault Ben got stuck with him!! everyone in the car!!! be still my beating heart

- yeah didn’t see Lila having powers coming tbh. i really feel bad for her she’s had such a rough and traumatic life, especially with the Handler as her only parental figure

- the Swede brother and Five putting down their weapons: “enough.” the Swede wanted revenge for his brothers - an eye for an eye, but there was a mutual understanding between the two of them: they would do anything for their family. if the Swede hurts one of the Hargreeves, Five would never stop coming after him. i thought it was very beautiful 

- mmm Reggie’s foreshadowing coming into play. proud of u Five

- the ending was so beautiful. everyone got closure in some type of way. except now Klaus is alone with nothing but his dog tags :(

- EMO BEN HAHAHA WTFFF?? is Lila in the sparrow academy? why was Ben’s portrait over the mantle piece? did Five disappear?? is the sparrow academy just older versions of the siblings who stuck around?? so many questions

FINAL THOUGHTS

- Ellen Page’s acting consistently blows me away. she is amazing 

- beautiful cinematography, funny writing, pretty good acting. i didn’t like the soundtrack as much as i did the first season’s, but some of it wasn’t bad.

- i’m glad ben got peace, but i’m also glad justin min isn’t gone for good. his social media presence is too vital for us

- i swear to god if they keep treating klaus as a joke and don’t let him get any actual development like everyone else had (he barely got closure with Dave, he reconciled with Ben through a second party) next season, i’m gonna riot. PLEASE i want to learn more about his powers now that Ben is gone. what happened to seeing tons of ghosts when he’s sober??

- Luther and Diego were probably my favorite duo of the season, I’m so happy that they’ve reconciled and are bonding more. 

- just seeing Vanya grow and be happy was amazing 

all in all, really wonderful season. i probably liked it better than the first one. now it’s time to consume fanfiction and maybe finish my own (check out “god doesn’t want him and neither does the devil” on ao3!)

tbh at this point after like 2k notes i have also started to feel that way about dear evan hansen, which is disappointing bc once again it does seem like something i would hate and like, i want all the other people hating it to hate it for the right reasons, you know? to be fair i have not seen it but the problem there to me knowing what i know about both its bonkers-ass plot and its treacly-ass music is that i really like can't conceive of a way that a musical would be able to reconcile the textual nightmare unfolding for two hours with the sappy sentimental uplift of the music, partly because the music is so Like That that i cannot imagine the people who made it are sophisticated enough to pull off that kind of tonal tightrope. you are not sondheim babes this is not "nothing's gonna harm you" showing up right before tobey gets stabbed or whatever that lady's song is in assassins. like even if i grant that the song in the trailer is supposed to feel extremely discomfiting in practice because of the clash between the vibes of the music and the reality of the plot, it.... like... it's just... it's not a song that can carry that. because it is not very good or interesting. it's like if you did a gone girl musical, and had amy sing fight song... well ok in an actual post-fight-song world that would be fucking hilarious and someone should do it, oh my god. but in an AU where rachel platten doesn't exist and it's just that song where the cool girl monologue goes, it doesn't work because the song is too dumb to put anything interesting on. anyway. i understand there are people who have watched this show who feel differently about the music which is Fine. i respect the people i have seen who are like, the reason it's a problem that ben platt looks 1 million years old is that it makes it a lot harder to viscerally empathize with him through his bad teenage decisions. (the rent movie also had this problem, altho like, idk that anyone would be swayed pro- or anti- either way. but like you see their faces and it's like: get a job.) but like: a character frog-in-a-pot-ing himself into choosing and justifying increasingly more terrible actions is not an inherently terrible story to tell. (it is, among other things, the plot of the last two episodes of silicon valley season 4, some of my favorite television of all time.) it's also just maybe not one you should aim to make as Uplifting as possible, lol.

This makes the whole “Someday My Prince Will Come” thing much more believable, because Snow White really isn’t in any sort of immediate danger and doesn’t need “saving” or whatever; she’s just tired of being alone and wants human companionship. (And tbh who can blame her? The poor girl’s literally talking to birds and moved in with the first group of humanoid creatures she could find ffs)

This one’s a bit of a stretch, but I’m pretty sure Snow White would also have an unhealthy fear of strangers and/or an irrational fear of being poisoned after the whole apple fiasco

Cinderella

Being raised in an abusive home environment for most (if not virtually all) of her life

The complete lack of positive social interaction throughout her life has probably led to problems with social withdrawal and isolation at some point, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she has repressed symptoms of chronic depression due to loneliness.

Her closest emotional confidants are literally two talking mice, and that just screams “My only friends are animals because their love is unconditional I’ve been invalidated and unloved by every human being in my life” (aka extreme emotional neglect)

She probably has tons of questions about her biological parents that were never answerd because, again, her stepfamily hated her, which would obviously lead to some emotional baggage

If we consider Cinderella III: A Twist in Time to be the new canon, she definitely has some unresolved PTSD from her near-death experience (the “almost getting crushed to death in the carriage because it was transforming back into a pumpkin” scene)

Aurora

Existential crisis because the three fairy godmothers basically rewrote her entire identity as “Rose” and hid the fact that she was a princess

Never knowing who her real parents were as a child, leading to emotional baggage similar to that of Cinderella and Snow White mentioned above

Either the emotional burden of having to make up for 16+ years of lost time with her biological family, or the grief of losing her biological family without ever getting the chance to know them (idk whether Aurora actually got to meet her parents by the end of the movie or if they died before she woke up, because I don’t remember exactly how much time had passed while she was in the coma)

Speaking of the spindle prick-induced magical coma (which is a really long-winded and inefficient way to kill someone honestly, idk what Melificent was thinking), Aurora also has to deal with the emotional burden of how much time has passed while she was in a coma, which would only further feed into the existential crisis and emotional trauma in bullet points 1 and 3.

(Also, off the record, but Aurora’s entire life post-movie is just a hot fucking mess and she really deserves a second movie exploring that concept imo. I know that Sleeping Beauty has already gotten a live-action villain spinoff, but the story of Aurora herself really deserves to be reexamined under a modern lens also. Aurora is easily one of the most overlooked Disney princesses and tbh she deserves more love.)

Witnessing her mother die from the plague in their own home

Being forceed to move from the more culturally progressive city of Paris to the unnamed “poor provential town” in the movie, where she is clearly the odd one out and is subject to gender inequality on a daily basis (in the form of being publically shamed and socially ostacized for being an educated woman)

Being regularly sexually harassed by Gaston, which is further exacerbated by the villagers and their close-mindedness. Not only is Gaston’s behavior enabled and encouraged by the villagers, but they even go so far as to idolize Gaston — as shown during his namesake song — despite his obviously predatory actions, simply because he is a cishet white man that they find conventionally attractive

Watching her father get arrested despite being 100% innocent...TWICE

Also being arrested when her father is wrongly convicted a second time, by none other than her abuser

Watching her lover — who besides her parents was the first person in her life who truly loved her and respected her intellect despite being a woman — nearly die in her arms, as well as everyone else in the castle (who ALSO respected her regardless of her gender) nearly die at the same exact time.

...And you know, Stockholm Syndrome or whatever. (But tbh, given how everyone in the castle was very kind and respectful and how the Beast was a tsundere at best, Belle would probably suffer far more from PTSD brought upon by Gaston and her previous environment than from “Stockholm Syndrome” in a castle where everyone actually treated her like a normal fucking human being. Unpopular opinion I know but as a sexual assault survivor this is literally a hill I will die on.)

I’ve actually never watched Aladdin all the way through, so unfortunately I can’t give a full analysis of Jasmine’s conflicts...but I have seen that gif of her saying “I am not a prize to be won” and that just screams “I’ve suffered a lifetime of female objectification and gender inequality despite my social status, and not even in the highest position of authority possible am I allowed to have a voice” and idk about you but that is really fucked up man

Overworking herself to the point of near burnout, and being unable to fully live out her prime adult years because of said burnout

Constantly dealing with shitty customers, bosses, and other white-collared people disrespecting her and treating her as subhuman because of her career choice, which is unfortunately a common shared experience among restaurant workers and those who work hourly wages

Since this movie takes place in the United States presumably before the 1960’s, it’s probably safe to assume that Tiana also probably had to deal with segregation, Jim Crow laws, and other forms of racism off-screen on a daily basis, which would obviously take a toll on her mental well-being and further exacerbate the issues mentioned in #3

Grief from losing her dad, which has likely been repressed due to her workaholic tendencies denying her the ability to properly take the time to mourn

I don’t even know what to categorize the whole witch doctor shenanigans as, I just know that she and Naveen are both going to need some SERIOUS therapy after going through all that shit

The only emotional baggage I can really imagine Moana having post-movie is leftover grief from her grandma dying and maybe the stress of having to put up with Maui’s shit
