I actually have my own little head cannons about percy and annabeth's own family, and I'm gonna share them for no reason other than being annoying <3

Percy and Annabeth have lived in unstable homes throughout their childhood; I truly believe that they got married in their early twenties after college

Annabeth hyphenated her last name! She becomes "Annabeth Chase-Jackson" because she loves the Jacksons and is a part of their family while also keeping her last name because she's THE Annabeth chase and it's iconic

I think that they always wanted kids together, but it was always a thought for the future, even when they got married and were busy with their careers

So yes, their first kid was a total surprise, but a very happy one

They were the first of the hoo group to have a kid

Their first kid's a boy (ik unpopular opinion), with blonde hair and green eyes.

I always imagined they'd named their kids something both unique and greek, with maybe a middle name after a lost hero? Giving the first name of a lost hero sounds painful, and also defeats the whole purpose of Sally naming Percy after the only greek hero with a happy ending. An example I like is Amycus Charlie Jackson. idk tho, something more normal makes sense too.

Amycus would probably be a stereotypical angel first child tbh

Because they had their first kid so early on, I think their second would be a couple years later, I think around 4.

They'd have a girl next, Daphne Zoe Jackson, with Percy's raven hair and Annabeth's gray eyes. She'd be a little more troublesome lol, but in a loving way!

I honestly think 2 kids are good enough but my heart says they'd have 3. He'd be a surprise baby, and on the younger end of the hoo group's kids (if not the youngest). I haven't thought of much characterization for him yet, but he'd get Sally's blue eyes for sure.

And they live a great life in New York, I'm sorry but they aren't moving to New Rome! Especially Percy, he's a New Yorker through and through

Annabeth works from home from time to time as an architect, mostly to spend more time with her kids, especially when they're babies.

Percy has a pretty chill job doing something in marine biology or marine vet, so he's there for the kids plenty too

Sally babysits the few times both of them are busy

i think what irked me when rereading pjo, especially whilst having an interest in greek mythology too, was the portrayal of medusa, ares and the aphrodite cabin (mostly in the first few books).

cause wdym ares is basically just another deadbeat cunt, portrayed as a massive bully and he’s implied to be abusive to his kids - something we don’t even know the full extent of too. like when he had that convo with clarisse (sea of monsters i think, i can’t double check i don’t have my books with me rn). the girl is fucking terrified of him mate. she may be his favourite daughter but she’ll never be a son. i feel like the series only highlights his negative traits bc he is the god of war…. like he’s also the god of courage!! protector of cities, the amazons!! he bestows upon them his fighting spirit!!! his daughter was literally the queen of the amazons!! most if not all the olympians have committed heinous ass shit - i mean 2 of the big 3 are literally infamous sex offenders… (whole other topic of like these omniscient beings - literal gods - being like a reflection of humanity in a sense.. WAIT now I wanna go on deep dive… i’m getting distracted). i think my guy also got tried for murdering one of poseidons other crotch goblins because he raped his daughter (I DONT REMEMBER NAMES). another one of his daughters is literally the goddess of harmony - he isn't necessarily just producing devil spawn. i think he has two other kids with aphrodite uhhh phobos? and someone else, god of fear and actually I think this is irrelevant MOVING ON. i’m also aware of the different interpretations of medusa’s story (not gna get into allat rn tho). ya know general story, she was a priestess of athena who poseidon forced himself upon in athena’s temple so then girl got turned into a gorgon (some victim blaming on athena’s part idk claiming it was sacrilege etc/poseidon what the actual fuck). she’s often portrayed as a horrifying monster - later stories alluding to how she was both extremely beautiful (and terrifying) blah blah u get it. anyway it didn’t really dive into her story and just painted her as this insidious villain i suppose (tbh understandable for a 12 yo percy’s pov when this woman is trying to KILL him). then she obviously got beheaded - AGAIN must i add. also giving birth to pegasus (+ chryasor me thinks?) like good lord, girl is going thru it, she deserves sm better. though as far as I know (haven’t watched ep yet) she’s much more fleshed out in the show and you can see her humanity - yay!!

this bit is only in the very first few books but how the entire aphrodite cabin was shown just made me feel a bit icky. but later on in the story we have the kids having much more of a presence etc (silena leading the ares cabin bro!!!).

5 Anti LO Asks

(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. What doesn't help too is, and we've sene it for years now, is RS clearly doesn't like the ancient setting and always makes sure to demean it whenever she can. That's why the "modern" Underworld with its fancy parties and technology is framed as so much for desirable than the "backwards" nature and antiquity of Persephone's world. SHE needs to "progress", SHE needs to  change who SHE is to be "up to par" with the modern man Hades. I know RS doesn't know she's doing this, but her biases are there.

2. I honestly dont even get what the endgame is supposed to be. If this was like PJO or HADES aka set centuries after the canon mythology timeline then sure do whatever, but it's clearly not set then so? Why should RS make up whatever? At that point why even bother with greek mythology if she's wont even use its canon? just go 'inspired by' and go from there, not claiming to be "super accurate" to claim authority, but then claim "its just a retelling" when called out for being inaccuracy

3. Ya know I see some defend the lacking art now as "well at least it's consistent!" as if having consistent flat colors, uninteresting compositions, same faces/bodies, and overall rushed quality is a good thing? Cheap white bread is also consistent, but it doesn't mean it's good. I would much rather have her more interesting, experimental style than the ugly consistent style, but sadly we're stuck with the latter.

4. lo fans who say persephone isn't entitled don't have the new episodes supporting their case ☠️ten years isn't enough for all the lives she took and yet, here she is throwing a tantrum because zeus said no (she doesn't seem so remorseful now that the actual punishment is handed out and expects special treatment still). and instead of her priority being, idk maybe saving her mother first, it's going to see hades.

5. I feel like even in S1 you could see the artistic quality go down. Like somewhere around episode 25 you can see the decline and it only gets worse from there until what we have now, where everything is same faces/bodies and everyone is flat colors that they just look like people in matte body paint over a fantasy world. and no, I won't blame the art team for this. RS supposedly hires them off being able to mimic her style, there's a serious lack of oversight on RS's part here.

her father was a turkish soldier, her mother greek. idk their full history yet but im thinking about it! probs related to aegean crisis? but i think it makes sense for him to be of military descent. and for hera to be mixed as i think that plays a part to why she wants to leave so bad. from my research (and omg pls tell me if im wrong! i dont live there so how would i know, ya know?) but there is a lot of discrimination between the two cultures, and i think hera being mixed she may not feel like she has a place? (im relating it to at least how i feel as a mix raced poc, not in the same way but -- i think the feeling i can still understand. anyways...)

also bailey's appearance is gonna change too !! as hera's fc is woc, so shall bailey be as well! i haven't chosen a child fc for her yet but her grown will be: aslihan malbora

idk how to read ancient greek unfortch so I actually haven't read much past the homeric epics and a handful of plays, but I think if you want to get into it, just look for anne carson's translations and you cannot go wrong! her sappho, her sophocles, her euripides.. but yeah as far as classics go, I'm far more well-versed in latin; I think latin is actually fun to read & translate it's like a puzzle that requires u to know about sentence structure & etymology!!! ok latin rant over read anne carson 👀

it’s ancient greek! it means homecoming, the idea of a triumphant return home for the hero after a long journey. i found it through looking at the root of nostalgia. in this fic of course it’s kind of a grim tongue in cheek play on it. the reader’s coming back to the mountains, but she’s running away after a bad breakup, and the welcome she gets is... shall we say less than ideal haha

So i binged Blood of Zeus

Pros:

1. Very attractive character design so of course it’s gotta be #1 (i mean just look at apollo)

2. Only 8 eps 40ish minutes each so if you want to binge it in a day, that’s very possible

3. The giants were a really cool concept, (con #6: wish they werent just a plot device and had bigger roles)

4. It’s a typical Zeus/Hera story basically so if you’re into that i guess

5. You’ll root for Heron, or at least i did, poor thing was thrown into all of this

6. Very clean animation, id say cleaner than Castlevania (but castlevania was better off using the rough-animation)

Cons:

1. It’s a typical Zeus/Hera story: whatever the true mythological greek myth characterization of both zeus and hera are, it really took away from enjoying the show, like all hera had to do was castrate this man, honestly, idk if heron’s story is a real myth, or not, but if it was made up for the show they really i think could have done more, made it more complex, ya know, like how many of these “Zeus was horny, Hera directed her anger at innocent ppl” stories do we need? I think as a society we have progressed past the need for more zeus apologetic stories

1.5: the plot is super simple, i can only really describe it as bland but maybe this show just wasnt for me, they did leave it on a “cliff hanger” (idk it could be one) but like hades ≠ satan, and ik im not the only one in the tag that thinks so (a friend of mine wrote a paper on the whitewashing/christian-ifying of the greek gods and it applies here, zeus ≠ god and hades ≠ satan)

2. Beside from evil jealous female, the women really didnt have any role, barely any speaking lines so woohoo i guess

3. WHY IS THIS CALLED AN ANIME???? This really pissed me off, like, BoZ isnt what id categorize as a cartoon, but it’s clearly not anime, art style is completely different, made in the US, doesnt even have the same feel as anime; we americans should just call these animated shows aimed at adults like BoZ and castlevania ~animation~ why do we have to stick our animated shows into a label where it doesnt belong just for the sake of expanding your audience im sure if there are americans watching anime they’re also watching cartoons and other animated shows we dont need american animation pretending to be anime

4. I liked the voice actors, they had very strong voices, i just dont think they really worked they took me out of the fantasy or in other words prevented me from disbanding my disbelief and really getting into the show, but im sure other people found the voice acting fine and not a big deal and im probably just being picky bcuz i was watchign the show too closely after my first impressions

5. After looking at the tag and reblogging the very amazing fanarts and gifs of the good looking characters, i came across a post saying the cast was diverse, and....i guess? They all looked like they were based off of the standard white european set with few exceptions. Like, the only characters i found having the same face syndrome were the women, but lets face it, they were quite irrelevant to the show, idk, ppl need to relook at greece and realize not everyone there is white****, greek people just do not look like northern european ppl, like take the average greek person and comparw them to the average english person, there are distinct differences bcuz greece is a mediterranean country, there are more skintones and face structures than white, like why do we have to continue making Zeus the white ideal????? He reminded me more of a norse god than greek god liek did they use Chris Hemsworth’s Thor as a model reference? (*****Ok, upon posting this i immediately looked at rhe characters again, and i will say that the skintones arent just white, they do have a good gradient of skintones, idk, maybe this is bcuz im white myself but looking at the character designs, like they’re face structures and body types, and a lot of them just read north european to me, and not mediterranean, like it looks like english ppl with different skintones paint-bucketed in, but im picking at fine details here, i will take back what i said about the skintones, but zeus still looks like thor)

There's a person on here who likes Odyssey more than Valhalla and one of their main points is because Kassandra has abs and is more muscular than Eivor, therefore she is the better character. 10 Anti LO Asks

1. I find it funny that america's court of justice looks more greek that LO's court that literally takes place in greece

2. ya know if rachel cant stand seeing critiques and even admits social media is ruining her mental health the like ... idk ... get a social media manager? im sure a webtoons intern would be happy to take over her accounts and only post when LO updates and retweet fanart. a lot of webtoon creators dont have social media accounts either, so it's not unheard of her to be anonymous outside of her work, she seriously needs to get offline if its this negative of an experience for her IMHO.

3. the animated series excuse is bullshit. Other webtoons have also been picked up for tv while being produced, but they actually WRAPPED UP before their shows started, because they got the fire under their butts to make sure the story was complete so the tv writers knew what to do with them. LO getting picked up and dragging it out actually makes it harder for it to be adapted, not the other way around, especially when RS writes the week of. LO fans, please, you can call her out for this, it's ok.

(Same tv anon) also there are a lot of webtoons that were super popular and still ended when they wanted bc the writers said so, even though WT themselves would love to keep them going as long as possible. other WT creators are also very open to the fact they have a lot of creative freedom with no pushback, so the excuse WT is "forcing" Rachel to drag out LO is false. The reason LO is getting worse is on her, not webtoons, not henson, but rachel herself. sorry to be harsh it but its true.

4. Idk if this has been said, BUT the night P goes over to the shades and hades saves her, they kiss, and then the next day P asks Minthe for help with the computer and of course Minthe is gonna bring up Hades and give her a crash course on what’s it like dating hades and P is like “I honestly have no clue what you’re talking about” GIRL WHAT! You turned into butterflies, you’ve talked about being horny, YOU KISSED. P is hardly a character 

5. i feel like theres a big difference between a webtoonist being defensive over their characters who get hated for awful reasons (misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc) versus rachel being like "ugh! why are you guys not letting persephone and hades get away with literal murder, slavery, corruption, nepotism, and classism, etcetera, etcetera?" like we know she's a privileged cishet white lady, but she's in a fantasy land if she seriously think theres nothing to critique her version of hxp for. like???

6. honestly thats the thing that annoys me so much. yes the greek gods arent as widely worshipped (and no, i dont expect a kiwi to be worshipping them either) but greece still exist, the greek people still exist, and their culture still exists, which includes still having a cultural reverence to the gods. the fact rachel and her fans claim ownership over it while speaking over actual greeks and while butchering it so much for their own capitalist, western ideals is just insulting, not "empowering".

7. I think good character growth for P for how the story was going would have been her acting more like herself (the bad parts where she’s frustrated and angry) but isn’t rewarded. The closest we got to this was when she had rumors spreading around her at school and no one wanted to be her friend even if she did try to defend herself. When she got mad at hades for stealing someone’s eye, she was prioritized even tho it was an important day for Underworld Corp. she sees no repercussion what she did to Leto (I know it was suppose to be funny but it makes Leto less of a serious antagonist that she was built to be). Like all I really take from her character is “why didn’t I go apeshit earlier I have no consequences expect that one time I murdered a bunch of village people but even then I wasn’t truly vengeful.” Even with the trial drama going in Hades is preventing any repercussions. Like everything “bad” that happens to Persphone, it’s “not her fault”

Persphone: I didn’t want to get her in trouble (aka I wanted to have someone I could black mail instead of just asking Hectate for help or ask for proper training can’t ruin my perfect girl image)

Like many readers and critics have pointed out, Lore Olympus (and admittedly a lot of cartoons and comics nowadays) is most certainly written with a fanfiction-like mindset: with twists and turns that complicate the story for no other reason than the author thinking that it looks “cool”. This has resulted in a ramping up of epicness within the general story. Stakes get higher, the antagonists become more and more threatening, and then suddenly a tale of ancient Greek deities that started out as a casual soap opera is now being mashed together with long-standing prophecies and major political conflicts. It’s not enough for Lore Olympus to just talk about issues like abuse, gaslighting, sexual assault, self-hatred, and healing from traumatic experiences. We’ve got to do it in the most epic way possible! Stuff like this is the only reason why LO goes to the weird extremes that it does, with more and more crap getting piled on as a misguided attempt to be more “exciting”. The decision to add the coming of Kronos, Apollo’s theorized usurping of Zeus’ throne, and Persephone’s legendary fertility goddess powers to the slice-of-life environment came entirely from a desire to be super epic because that’s the only way RS knows how to create tension. It often seems like a lot of creators and viewers are unaware that personal stories with low stakes can be just as, if not more, enriching and this sentiment is usually shared between fans and is why most others seem to enjoy the earlier chapters of the webcomic far more than the current episodes. The comic’s former relatability that dealt with interpersonal relationships and conflicts is now having to share a runtime with massive wars, violence, death, and booming action because RS really wants people to take LO seriously and this is the only way she knows how to do it.

FP talk: what i also dont get is why would the jury and crowd suddenly be on hades and persephone's side? like i thought the whole story kepy saying how despised hades is and how persephone is some unknown that only has bad stories around her. why would they all of a sudden now want to defend them off of nothing? rachel both wants them to be the underdogs but also cant deal with them not getting everything they want, so she immediately undercuts any stakes. i really dont get that logic at all.
