rambling abt sonic and character foils and the IDW comics below the cut this is aimless enough for me to want it be an opt-in experience LOL

i was gonna talk abt this last night but it was 11 AnyWay. i saw a criticism of the IDW comics on reddit a long time ago and its got me thinking recently. someone said they didn't quite enjoy the way the comic was tackling sonic as a character not because of the inconsistencies in his pre-established beliefs (which are present) per se but because IDW keeps challenging them in ways that don't feel, from what i remember the comment saying, "good-spirited"? i hadnt heard that critique before so it was unique enough to catch my interest but not actually think much until now. but theres a reason for that hold on ok

so. to preface this whole thing. some of the most beloved stories in the series are ones that Do challenge sonic's beliefs. thats the reason why, when the series wants to tackle more mature content, they make foil characters. sa2 which reddit largely considers as having the best story has foil characters everywhere but specifically it spends a lot of energy on it's themes of identity and growth by making sonic and shadow clash not just physically but ideologically. that talk they have after final rush/chase basically spells it out and its framed as shadow hearing sonic out and then dismissing him ("what are you/i'm me/i see, well, i'm gonna beat your ass" <- basically). and then later on sonic's viewpoint is reinforced when shadow (airquotes) dies, but not before sonic himself is visibly impacted in the credits sequence. that whole story right there was, at least thematically, one about sonic having his beliefs challenged. SatBK does this as well, a game which is applauded within the general community as having the most accurate sonic characterization. stories that do adjacent things, like the OVA, s3&k, sa1, where character foils are a prominent part of the theming (though maybe not presented in a way where sonic himself necessarily feels ideologically Challenged), are often very popular as well

the time i saw the criticism was about when the surge saga was coming to an end, but i was new at that point so i really dismissed the whole discussion. sonics allowed to be challenged, thats what happens when you have a static character as a protagonist. but now that ive reread IDW a few times and have identified some of my own issues with the run so far i've been thinking about that reddit comment more often. why is the way IDW challenges sonic so different from the way stories like SatBK or sa2 challenge him? why is one intriguing and the other not "good-spirited?" nowadays i think the issue is less with tone or intent like the wording of the original comment implies, but the conclusion of those stories. all of those previous examples i gave culimate in sonic succeeding, yes bc hes the title character, but moreso bc hes the vehicle through which the themes of the series are delivered. SatBK wasn't going to have merlina win because the story was trying to tell the audience that life is only worth living when its finite. sa2 killed off shadow because it was about how being unable to move on eats someone from the inside out. these are broad overarching themes that are present in the whole series and its generally agreed that sonic at his best is representative of those themes, which is why hes static

but IDW kind of has a messy history with conclusions. or, at least, conclusions that feel like they are trying to Say something in the way i've been talking about. after everything is done and the threat of the week is defeated, it all kind of returns back to a status quo, which im very sure is not the fault of the writers. long-running series are supposed to have a status quo that keeps stuff the same so that new audiences wont be alienated by huge character histories and lore timelines and things to catch up on (The Most Intimidating thing abt like archie for example). its partially why u see almost no fleshed out arcs that span multiple games after 06 (man the word partially is doing some legwork there but if i talked abt why sonic games changed so drastically after the mid 2000's i would be here all fucking day). and there are conversations to be held about that status quo and its place in the games and whether its beneficial or not but imo when talking about IDW, a comic which is supposed to have continuity, it kind of obliterates the potential of having meaningful conclusions and the themes that come along with them. because IDW always approaches "sonic feels ideoloically challenged" and it never goes beyond it. it nudges and hints at criticism of IDW sonic's beliefs, actions, and philosophy, but it doesn't do anything with it. the status quo says sonic can't change that much, which is good when the conclusion of stories have themes that prove he's already got it figured out, and bad when there's a big gaping question mark where a lesson should be. the surge saga i think is the glaring example of this precisely because its so conclusionless (theres also how sonic himself engages with her but thats a convo for another day).

so when that redditor said they thought the surge saga lacked a "good-spiritedness" that stories with a similar concept like SatBK or sa2 had i think they were picking up the vibes of the story being kind of... pointless at least in terms of themes and actual impact on the characters, rather than a lack of earnestness, a tone blunder, or strange intent on the part of the writers

im really curious how the urban warfare saga is resolved now precisely bc this lack of meaningful conclusion problem is so prevalent . depending on how passionate i am i may make a more formal analysis post abt it or something, but probably not considering i read IDW very very casually . which feels like a contradiction after writing all this but . yanno

Joking aside though, while Duel of the Fates had some plot and character points I would've preferred to see in TRoS, they're all such unbelievably obvious things to include that it feels like cheating to give that script credit for them. They're just part of basic competency at writing. And their value is overshadowed by some truly horrendous choices.

Like Finn and the stormtrooper rebellion. Of course it's a good thing DotF had that! It is the obvious conclusion to Finn's character arc. TFA gives him his independence and TLJ gives him his motivation and authority, the skills he needs to lead the rest of the stormtroopers against the machine they grew up in. It's just so blatant that that's where his story was going, to the point that it doesn't make sense to create a character with his backstory if that's *not* the story you wanted to tell. Why would you include a character breaking free from the programming they'd be subject to if you're not going to see them help free the others stuck in the same trap they were??? So yes, it's good DotF includes that, but it's less a point in favor of that script and an indictment of TRoS's complete failure to do anything meaningful with the developed character arcs it was served on a golden platter.

Or Hux as the villain to rise in Snoke's wake. Hux's entire character in TFA/TLJ is wanting power and control over others and resenting those in his way. That's it. Once Snoke is removed as an obstacle and he sees Kylo's weakness, of course he'd see the chance to take the power he craves and assert his dominance over the galaxy?? That's just following the path that's already been paved for you. It's so obvious that TRoS had to invent a totally new character, not to mention Kylo’s whole governing council, for it to make any sense that he wouldn't be taking what he feels he deserves. Which is just lazy and cheating when it comes to the final film of a trilogy. DotF does use this obvious set up, but then takes such utterly bizarre strides like Hux's Force envy or, most awfully, his suicide when "he lost the Star Wars". This is a children's film being released for Christmas!!!! Just writing that scene for the finale of this story should've been enough to utterly disqualify Colin for ever writing for the franchise.

And then there's all the other terrible and nonsensical things about DotF, like everything about Kylo’s arc, or the weird forced Rey/Poe to fulfill Colin's weird self insert fantasies. The only people who think this script would ever have been filmed or acceptable for its role in the Skywalker saga are weird reddit bros who want Star Wars to be more "gritty" because they can't accept that their childhood stories are meant for children, so that those kids can grow up with them the way they did, and not to cater to them as adults who want more violence in films. TRoS was a failure as well, but at least it didn't include on screen suicide and public executions ffs. I can't say I'm glad we got TRoS instead of DotF, but I am glad we didn't get DotF.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken legal action against Elon Musk, filing a lawsuit on Thursday to compel the Tesla CEO to testify regarding his acquisition of Twitter last year.

According to legal documents released in the Northern District of California, the SEC alleges that Musk failed to comply with a subpoena requiring him to testify on September 15. The subpoena was reportedly served to Musk in May 2023, and the SEC contends that his refusal to appear is hindering and delaying their investigation into potential securities fraud related to the purchase of Twitter shares last year.

The SEC’s broader investigation is focused on determining whether securities laws were violated during the purchase of Twitter shares while Musk was acquiring stock in the company. 'Succession' fans brace for series finale of Emmy-winning hit drama

WASHINGTON

Jennifer Gould, an Oregon-based trusts and estates lawyer, thinks the premise of “Succession” – HBO’s hit series chronicling a billionaire media mogul and his children’s struggles to take over the family company — is a little flawed.

“The idea that they wouldn’t have a firm succession plan in place is ridiculous,” Gould said.

Still, she has set aside Monday for “crying and grieving” after watching the hotly anticipated series finale airing Sunday evening.

With the critically acclaimed drama's fourth and final season ending, dedicated fans of “Succession” are locking in plans to watch the whopping 88-minute finale while turning online for emotional support, memes and endless theories about how the show could end and who will prevail.

“No one I know in real life watches the show,” Gould said, adding that the emotional toll of season four made her look for support online, which is how she landed on the social news website Reddit, where a chat dedicated to all things “Succession” has more than 456,000 members.

In preparation for Sunday, Gould also is rereading “King Lear,” among Shakespeare’s bleakest tragedies, about a declining monarch and his children’s battle for the crown. Gould thinks the play could offer clues to how the series will end.

“It’s fairly obvious that it’s a loose retelling of King Lear,” Gould said of “Succession.” “I watch it obsessively. I don’t think there’s another way to watch it.”

“Succession” always has been about the membership of its audience, not its size, and its popularity among the coastal media and agenda-setting groups that the show depicts and attracts means the finale should leave a cultural mark.

More recent prestige TV finales are a better analogue for “Succession” than those of the network behemoths of decades past. For example, “The Sopranos” suddenly cutting to black to the song "Don’t Stop Believin’” in 2007 set the standard for both talkability and inscrutability.

Pamela Soin, a management consultant in New York City, said the end of the monumental New Jersey mob saga was the only finale generating more excitement than “Succession” for her “because that was after seven years of investment.”

Soin and a group of friends have watched every “Succession” episode this season with a serious ritual.

“We turn off all the lights, cinema style, put on the surround sound and watch in complete silence,” Soin said. “Then we have a debrief.”

But Soin said she'll be alone for the final episode because of the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the U.S.

On social media platforms including Twitter, Reddit and the chatting app Discord, popular among gamers, “Succession” fans share countless memes and swirling theories about which of the Murdoch-esque Roy family members, corporate executives and hangers-on will prevail in the finale. Fans have searched for clues in past episodes, characters' names, the show's opening sequence and elsewhere.

Show creator Jesse Armstrong told The New Yorker earlier this year “there’s a promise in the title of ‘Succession,’” which some have taken as a sign that the show's central question will be answered.

Soin thinks the finale will leave many unresolved plot lines and questions open to interpretation.

“I love how they handle a lot of things off-camera,” Soin said of the show's writers, who throughout the series have peppered pivotal backstories of the main characters in later scenes and passing conversations.

“Just like in real life, you find out about things that happened when you weren’t there,” Soin said.

Conclusions to hit TV series can be hit-or-miss. The bloody 2013 ending of Walter White’s story on “Breaking Bad,” and Don Draper’s more zen ending on “Mad Men” in 2015, generally satisfied their finicky fans. The 2019 conclusion of “Game of Thrones” — the last big finish for an HBO show — generally did not. Endings are hard to pull off and disappointment tends to be the norm, to which the makers of “Seinfeld” and “Lost” can attest.

HBO has been able to ratchet up suspense ahead of Sunday's “Succession” finale in part by airing only one episode per week, a decision that fans who grew up in the streaming age may be too young to remember was once the norm for TV series.

Suraj Nandy, a 20-year-old college student from Bengaluru, India, said he was counting down the hours until Sunday's finale, which airs at 6:30 a.m. local time.

“I'm going to huddle, get a blanket and snacks and sit there in awe,” Nandy said.

An economics student at Canada's University of Western Ontario, Nandy said he was disappointed by the “Game of Thrones” conclusion and had watched all of “Breaking Bad,” too, but considers “Succession” “easily, by far, my favorite show of the bunch.”

As for his finale plans, Nandy said he'll join some friends online for a virtual watch party. But it won't end there.

“I’ll probably cry for a couple of days and then watch it again,” Nandy said. “I’d like to reexperience the whole thing in one sitting.”

Samsung’s Moon Shots Force Us to Ask How Much AI Is Too Much

Have you heard the moon conspiracy theory? No, not the one about the moon landings. It’s about the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the theory it fabricates pictures of the moon, creating images that are far more detailed than the camera itself can actually capture.

Is it true? The reality is a bit more complicated than a pure yes or no answer. And the closer you look, the more you realize that whether a photo is “real” or not is something you can ask of most of the photos you take with a phone.

The Moon Issue Lands

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Moongate saga began when Reddit user ibreakphotos posted about their own experiments with moon photography. Their claim is that when someone shoots the moon using the phone’s super-extended hybrid zoom mode, Samsung effectively puts a lunar texture on the images.

This is something Samsung denies. We reached out to the company to get the official line: “Samsung is committed to delivering best-in-class photo experiences in any condition. When a user takes a photo of the moon, the AI-based scene optimization technology recognizes the moon as the main object and takes multiple shots for multi-frame composition, after which AI enhances the details of the image quality and colours. It does not apply any image overlaying to the photo. Users can deactivate the AI-based Scene Optimizer, which will disable automatic detail enhancements to any photos taken.”

Creating a single image out of multiple exposures is at the heart of computational photography. But, as ibreakphotos proved, there’s more going on here. Samsung’s Fake Moon Photo Controversy shows that some of the user’s testing was pretty smart. A photo of the moon was blurred, and displayed at a distance, putting a hard ceiling on how much detail would be possible to capture, regardless of the quality of the camera’s optics.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s image still gives off the impression of having much more detail than the source image being captured. The effect in their sample images is dramatic.

This test has, no surprise, been repeated elsewhere since this whole moon issue hit blast-off. Famous YouTuber Marques Brownlee tried it, for example, and found that while his results were in no way as dramatic as ibreakphotos’ at Reddit, they were there. Mobile photography content creator Shayne Mostyn’s results sat somewhere between the two.

The Moon Travels in Circles?

Something is going on here. But this is not the “gotcha” scoop that parts of the internet might have you believe, because the issue has cropped up before.

Samsung introduced its moon mode processing two years ago with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, because it in turn introduced us to the company’s 10x zoom camera and 100x hybrid “space zoom.” Its successor, the S21 Ultra, with an even better zoom, was accused of faking photos, leading Input to investigate for itself, and it came to largely the same conclusions we see today. The Galaxy S21 Ultra did do a bit more than your standard image processing when shooting the moon.

it’s an unusual word! ingame, it’s frequently associated with the Void; we’ve got Kaineng Unmade, Echovald Unmade, the Void-afflicted child in Teleri chanting about being “unmade and rearranged”

i thought it would be fun to compile a list of all the other places where the word appears, prior to End of Dragons! i’m not drawing (many) wild conclusions, just making observations. in antichronological order:

1) at the end of the Icebrood Saga, as Ryland’s been left as a broken husk in the fallout of the Dragonstorm:

"No one made me! I made myself. And I will never be unmade!”

might be worth noting that Dragonvoid is resultant of raw clashing magic, and Ryland is standing on ground zero of the combined detonation of Jormag, Primordus, Kralkatorrik, Mordremoth and Zhaitan magic

2) the Riddle of the Weaver earned by traversing Jackal portals:

“The same hands that make the pattern also unmake it.”

first off, jackals are magical constructs feeding on the remnants of a dead god.

but more significantly, the whole deal with Weavers is that they... weave magic together! there’s a fantastic reddit post delving into the lore implications of Weave Self and Tailored Victory. the two most notable things: unweaving the elemental magic “unravels gravity itself”, one of the more obvious signs of Void affliction. and if you look closely, the elementalist releases a black shockwave and tendrils of darkness along with the strains of magic, which latch onto enemies in the vicinity. oh my.

3) in the challenge version of the Shattered Observatory Fractal, Artsariiv starts throwing these out these lines as their health drops:

“Don't fight unmaking. Hold on to the hurt. Squeeze it tight.” ”Yes. Unmake me. Stop it all.”

this whole fight is just. terrifyingly chaotic. a whole lot of wild magic without a single crumb of context.

(i’ve. got a lot of thoughts about consequences and implications of the Fractals. that’s for another time.)

4) The Bloodstone’s Unmaking in the Ruined City of Arah:

STAR WARS INTO DARKNESS

A (Salt) Review of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker.

Warning 1: All opinions are mine and no one (sadly) paid me for them.

Warning 2: I’m going to strive to be charitable as possible. Keyword, STRIVE.

It finally came. The conclusion to the Skywalker Saga, a nine film series starting with Shmi Skywalker and her lineage.

When we left the The Last Jedi; Finn was tenderly checking up on Rose who endangered her life to save him. Steadily finding his place in the Resistance and deciding that it was a cause worth fighting for. Ben Solo, also known to the galaxy as Kylo Ren, has just killed his life long abuser but failed to relinquish himself from the ties of the past. Rey was dealing with detaching herself from the idea that she needed to Be Someone in Order to Do Something only to realise that she, a nobody, was good enough. As Leia Organa said, we have all we need.

Cool right?

Yeah, just forget that movie. Actually, just forget like any development that occurred over the last two movies. Furthermore, turn your brain off. No, really please remove any kind of higher cognitive function and any knowledge of Star Wars beyond “pew, pew, pew” and “wOOO”. That’s literally the only way to truly enjoy this film.

This movie is a quest. A long big-budget multi-step fetch quest. Fetch quests are a common part of RPGs and can be enjoyable! Add to the narrative! Interactive. A movie that is nothing but fetch quest after fetch quest to the point that honestly, the first two thirds of the movie could have been dropped because it was so distressingly nonsensical.

Loose summary;

Ben Solo is on a planet. Being very very lorge and murking people left and right. Why? Because reasons. That this planet happens to be Mustafar and that he’s killing Vader Cultists evidently is not considered relevant. Even though Ben Solo introduction in TFA, which JJ wrote (with the assistance of Kasdan and Arndt), is basically as Vader’s #1 fanboy. But who cares about narrative information when you have sweet sweet red lighting and like a flight scene.

Anyway, Ben heads to Exegol because evidently that’s where the fancy schmancy totally Not A Holocron is directing him towards. In which he approaches some goth-esque temple with vats of Snokes. Yes, You Heard Correctly, Vats of Snokes. And Palpatine. Who’s just hanging on a crane. Just chillin’ and gleefully tells Ben Solo that he’s been every voice in his head since birth. So learning your abuser is still alive is totally dope. But hey, PALPATINE IS BACK! REMEMBER PALPATINE? ISN’T THAT COOL, yells JJ Terrio desperately trying to like Hype You Up And Remind You Of The Star Wars of Their Childhood.

Finn and Poe “I Have Literally No Purpose To Any of This Narrative and JJ Terrio is About to Fuck Over My Backstory” Dameron are getting data from a contact. For some reason a glorified dick-shaped Alien is there. Consequently, this is the same alien that replaced Rose Tico on merchandise. A reasonable person with minimal brain function would assume it’s because he plays a critical role in the plot. Remember what I said about thinking? Stop it. Klaud is there primarily for you to admire that JJ’s tentacle kink is Alive and Well and Thus Everything Is True (tm) Star Wars Again.

Rey is floating surrounded by rocks because That’s What Cool Jedi Do. Then she does a training course because after two films we have absolutely no proof that she has any fight training, according to Reddit and like JJ Terrio is trying to get Reddit to go to the Star Wars Prom with them. So, we need a training montage and Rey going to robo-Leia and saying that she will “earn [Leia’s] brother’s saber”. Why would she want to earn a grumpy curmudgeon who fucked over his only nephew and hid from his twin sister for years? Well, JJ Terrio dreamed of earning Luke’s saber and like what is the purpose of writing other than Wish Fulfillment.

Palpatine is back! Why? We don’t know and we don’t even know what he said because evidently it was decided that it belonged in Fortnite...instead of the film. Why? Here’s a lollipop and a pew pew to stop thinking sweetie. Either way he’s on Exegol and Rey saw notes scribbled in the margins that you need a Sith Holocro-- I mean ~Sith Wayfinder~ --because JJ has never seen Star Wars since he saw it in the theaters in 1983-- to get there. Which is on Pasaana.

WHICH IS HAVING SPACE BURNING MAN RIGHT NOW! (which happens every forty two years. Which is how long ago Star Wars Episode 4 Premiered. Remember fans! Isn’t that a Cool Thing To Drop? says JJ Terrio deftly skimming Reddit in order to gain fanbros love and affection and nostalgia boners.) LOOK AT ALL THE ALIENS DOING THE SPACE MACARENA! Because WOO DON’T YOU LOVE PARTY SCENES?

The force bond shows up and you can some how transfer stuff between the bond? Which like in the hands of another writer would be fascinating and engaging. Sadly, this is a JJ Terrio production and nuanced storytelling and dialogue is Fake and Not Star Wars.

Either way, Ben knows that they’re there and they are running from stormtroopers RIGHT INTO LANDO CALRISSIAN,-- remember him? goes JJ Terrio. You remember Lando right?. I do, I go. I’ve seen the movies and you’ve given no reason why Finn and Rey would know who the fuck he is seeing how he’s evidently been living as a hermit In The Same Outfit for over a decade. (BUT REMEMBER HIM, whines J.J. Terrio. Yes, I do. I SAW THE FUCKING OT JJ).

Anyway, more exposition occurs because JJ Terrio has no understanding how visual language works and it detracts from Real Star Wars Things Like - Space Chases - Pew Pew - Witty quips! because Witty quips! Are Important for A Star Wars, says JJ Terrio.

Nevermind that stormtroopers could fly since the Clone Wars and there’s literally no reason as to why Finn would not know this but like that would require you to give him

- a character arc - character growth - dialogue beyond “WOOOOO” and “REYYYYYY” (also side notes; it was depressing as fuck seeing Finn’s growth in TLJ to going beyond being Rey-centric to only spend the entire movie yelling a White Lady’s Name. I GO TO THE THEATRE TO NOT SEE REALITY, JJ.)

JJ Terrio: BUT HE’S FORCE SENSITIVE?? me, who’s been on the Finn is Force Sensitive Train since TFA: AND YOU DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WITH IT AND IMPLIED THAT IT WAS ONLY REASON HE WAS ABLE TO FIGHT THE STORMTROOPER PROGRAMMING??? (i.e. this is really fucking gross eugenics shit pls stop JJ Terrio and like just stop)

*deep breath*

ANYWAY, where was I? Oh yeah, Star Wars Into Darkness.

Either way, they find the Subtle Knife a Sith dagger? Along with force healing foreshadowing. But they have a dagger! Which They Can’t Read! But Threepio can! But He Can’t Say It Out Loud Because His Programming Forbids It.

And then the KoR, the galatic boy band, and Ben show up because of course. And they capture Chewie and put him on a transport.

Rey, of course, reaches out to Stop The Transport.

Ben, tries to stop her.

They to a back and forth that is similar to TLJ without any of the emotional build up of TLJ but that’s because JJ Terrio believes Emotions Are Not Star Wars.

And she lets loose LIGHTNING and makes the transport blow up and she believes Chewie is dead. Problem: Chewie isn’t dead. Which means she would be able to sense him in the Force. “But Mneme”, you say, “the Force isn’t like a GPS where you just Sense People.” That’s fair! Except....then...she does...when she’s on the Snow Planet. So like???

Either way, we have a Dagger that We Need to Read That Threepio Can’t Say Out Loud.

A Solution That Uses Braincells: well we know that the Millenium Falcon has three droid brains! So like we could just hook up Threepio to like the Falcon and transmit the codes and get some really great Easter eggs re: the Falcon and like the setup of the ship!

Except Leia dying because fuck moms, say JJ Terrio. Moms are Not Star Wars. The Reddit bros have now started to return their text messages.

More busy stuff happens. Hux dies. I wasn’t able to thoroughly enjoy it because by this point I had A Headache from all the Pew Pew and Wooooo~~.

Ben tells Rey that like ~her power is Palpatines power because like How Else Can Rey Be Powerful.” Does this make any sense? Not at all but like Don’t Think Too Hard.

He also finally takes off his stupid helmet that was glued together by ~Sith Alchemy~ that they bought from Space!Michaels.

Rey is vaguely disraught but like She Finally Has A Purpose and the Reddit Bros are Appeased.

More shit happens. Does it matter? Not really.

They meet Jannah! She’s cool and has the exact same backstory as Finn. Because in Star Wars There Are Only (2) Backstories for black characters. They line up the dagger that is old as fuck with the death star wreckage. Which lines up exactly. Evidently erosion is Not A Thing.

Finn and Jannah and basically go, Wow Isn’t It Rad That Because We Have The Force We [Finn, Jannah and her crew] Were Able To Reject Brainwashing and Bounce Because We Have The Force.

Rey runs off and Finn yells “REY!!” at some point but at least he knows his best angles while he does it.

Rey meets Dark!Rey who’s a vision....for five seconds. Because Remember if Girls Go Dark They Have Sinned In The Eyes of The Force. Ben shows up and crushes the Holocron because I refuse to call it that stupid-ass name-- dear fucking lord his hand is big--and WELP I GUESS I HAVE THE ONLY ONE.

They fight because We Need A Light Saber Fight Except This One is So Lackluster.

Then Leia reaches out to do something that will use up all her strength says Maz. How does Maz know this? Idk but she’s played by Lupita N’yongo so at least it sounds Deep And Wise because That’s Why You Cast Black People...to sound deep and wise. =_= **deeper breathe**

Anyway, she reaches out to her son! Her son hears her? I think? Either way it distracts him which lets Rey impale him. Except then she heals him?? And is like, I wanted to take your hand, Ben’s hand. which like I’d be fine with if like the movie had like worked for it. But like That Would Involve Actual Conversations Between Characters and We Are Going At 34243242432 pps (parsecs per second) and thus DO NOT HAVE TIme For That.

Ben then has a rehash of the scene from TFA because JJ Terrio is a fucking hack and is unable to create original material and this would have been meaningful if like Any of the Emotions Had Been Earn in The Fucking Film. But hey, I felt .75 of an emotion when Han Solo cradled his cheek so I will accept this. Then he yeets his saber into the ocean. Because. Yeet. Sadly, this movie is Not Over and My Suffering Will Not End

Poe and Finn head back to base with Jannah because I guess that’s what we’re doing? They find out that Leia is dead etc etc etc. The Resistance has a Circle Planning Session for the Final Battle that JJ Terrio lifted straight from ROTJ and the Reddit Bros brought them a corsage for Fanbro Prom. I am reminded that ROTJ was better than this garbage that I Paid Actual Money To Watch. Rey heads to Fish Nun island and decides to pull a Luke Skywalker move even we learned from the Last Movie (TLJ) why that was a Bad Idea but you know WE GET TO SEE LUKE AGAIN IS A GARBAGE WIG BECAUSE REDDIT BROS AMIRITE? We get the most hamfisted performance out of Mark Hamill and I’m just like damn The Last Jedi as a fucking gift and a _Jedi’s weapon is important_ platitude like his dad wasn’t yeeting his saber left and right. But Who Cares About Canon When We Have Pew Pew Pew Pew.

Luke tells her that Yes He And Leia Always Knew She Was A Palpatine which like means - Leia literally did not learn from the Last Time She Obscured Someone’s Parentage and the Fall Out - Actively lied to Rey - Luke actively lied to Rey - jfc this poor girl has been aggressively lied by most of the authority adults in her life??? - HER PARENTS SOLD HER TO PROTECT HER which is such a fucking damning think along with the fact that her parents are idiots and like didn’t think to take her to the new republic and like THERE ARE 23432432 things wrong with this set up but that is a Whole ‘Nother Rant

Also evidently? Leia ended her Jedi Journey (which abbreviated as JJ, coincidence? I THINK NOT.) because she saw her sons demised but evidently....couldn’t sense her son being groomed by Snoke, creation of Palpatine and like this entire movie makes Leia look like an ineffectual idiot?? Like I was really hoping that Leia was going to be able to escape the “Fuck Mom’s” curse of Star Wars BUT I GUESS THAT BECAUSE THAT’S NOT ~true star wars~

Anyway, evidently Leia gave him her saber which I guess she made but no one decided to show that but instead some freakish CGI (that they swore they wouldn’t do) fight scene because like Leia Obviously Isn’t A Real Force User Unless You Use A Lightsaber. The Reddit Bros Nod Sagely. So Rey decides to go to Exegol.....using the Luke’s X-Wing. The Reddit Bros are weeping tears of joy at this point. The Resistance starts their FINAL ASSAULT! THEY HAVE SPACE HORSES RIDING ON A SHIP BECAUSE DOESN’T THAT LOOK COOL! FINN KIND OF USES THE FORCE. THEY DECIDE TO BLOW UP THE STAR DESTROYERS BECAUSE FUCK CHILD SOLDIERS AMIRITE (rip Finn’s Stormtrooper backstory that JJ constructed that He Couldn’t Even Be Arse To Complete or like Think Of Because Like That Would Be Nuanced Shit but like He Gets to - Jump Over Things! - Run! - Know His Angles - Yell desperately After A White Lady because ahahahahha fuck WOC when there’s white p*ssy on the line AMIRITE?)

Either way they’re in trouble and Poe is dismayed and is like yo i’m sorry we’re doomed. Because...that’s.....what generals do. Give The Fuck Up. BUT DON’T WORRY LANDO IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY BECAUSE EVIDENTLY WHILE THE GALAXY IGNORED LEIA ORGANA’S PLEAS, THEY LISTENED TO LANDO

Rey flies to Exegol to confront Grandpalps. Who never wanted her dead but to become Empress after spending 2.5 movies wanting her dead via puppet!Snoke. Also kudos to JJ Terrio to making a Sith Temple be so fucking boring and lackluster. That Took Skill.\

ANYWAY SHE SEES HER FRIENDS IN TROUBLE MUCH LIKE IN TLJ and in ROTJ but JJ Terrio really really loves his nostalgia and ROTJ was very very very formative evidently. She’s about to Strike Him Down In Anger And Absorb Grandpapa’s essence in order to save her friends but WAIT WHO IS THIS IDIOT RUNNING IN WITH NO FUCKING PLAN Yes, it is Ben Solo channeling his father. As carrying the blaster that Lando gifted to him in Aftermath but like we can only suppose that because who Needs Convos When You Have Pew Pew Pew~ His former Knights show up (who have also never spoken because hahahahah dialogue? Sounds fake. Also moment of Silence of Rian who kept them alive and used Praetorian guards in TLJ instead because he assumed that JJ made them for a meaningful reason because he was Unaware That JJ Was A Fucking Hack)

Anyway, Rey senses him! They do a super cool force bond moment that actually Pays Off and Rey hands off her saber to Ben. Through the force. It’s dope.

Eventually they both stand before Palpatine Ready To Throw Down except in stand Palps leeches the lifeforce from them and then yeets Ben into a pit and Rey collapses.

THEN ALL THE JEDI FROM THE MOVIES AND CLONE WARS INCLUDE AHSOKA WHICH MAKES NO SENSE GIVEN CLONE WARS BUT WHAT EVER DON’T YOU FEEL VALIDATED!!! FANS!!! SCREAMS JJ TERRIO

EITHER WAY HE’S OUT OF THE PIT! And is like in agony because Rey is uh in limp ragdoll mode so probably dead? We’re gonna go with dead.

He limps over to her because uh evidently getting yeeted into a pit is Not Good For Ones Health or Limbs.

Ben cradles her in his arms and at that moment I had to Apologize For Everyone I Dragged for Size Kink because Adam Driver is Fucking Large and His Hand is Fucking Huge and I, Mneme, Was Wrong You Are Valid.

The Force realizes that a Male Skywalker is Getting A Boner and Goes Nope. And he just collapses and fades away at the same time that Leia fades away because ~symmetry~. Was a war going on? Uh maybe but like LETS NOT WORRY ABOUT LOGISTICS BUT INSTEAD CUT TO EWOKS!! WE ALL LOVE EWOKS RIGHT!! Rey flies back to Ajan Kloss. Poe, Finn, and Rey hug because this movie is almost over and they can stop trying to sell a non-existent trio created because JJ didn’t have the balls to let Poe stay dead in TFA.

Commander D’Arcy kisses her wife in the background but no one really notices and it was cut in Singapore but like JJ Terrio are Woke AF Y’ALL but not too woke because else they’ll get dumped by Reddit Bros.

AREN’T WE COOL me: she took the name of a grumpy old man who rejected her and whom she bounced off with his shit because he was being a dick....OKAY JAN

and yeah that’s it. Kid that was brainwashed as a child was reduced to going WHOOOOO every 5 seconds with no thought regarding his fellow stormtroopers who are still brainwashed.

Kid that was abandoned under the guise of ~love~ and sold to an abusive guardian and struggled and starved for years returns to a planet of sand and yes I know that she is probably going else where but that was a choice they made to have the last shot of her Alone with a Droid staring at the twin suns because JJ Terrio have been doing nothing but spraying nostalgia in my face for just under 2 and a half hours.

Kid who was actively groomed since childhood and only just now released from said clutches but lol can’t atone because he dead now.

Kid who lost her sister to the machine of war is pushed aside because she dared to exist.

Update: Monica Edwards and the Freddie Lounds Youtube Channel

Jennifer Cornet. The FF7 House. An internet mystery we all know. In the second half of the 2010s a fandom investigator surfaced, claiming to link Jennifer Cornet with the fan community of the TV Series “Hannibal.” This was the dawn of the “Tattle-Crime Saga”, as reported by a Youtube channel titled “Freddie Lounds”. The channel was created by Monica Edwards, a woman in her mid-thirties at the time and a fan of the series. Aside from her above listed legal name she has also been known as Eve Rebecca Habat in some corners of the internet and possibly other aliases. 'Unprofessional' would be a kind way to describe Monica's narration of the case as she would constantly fly into rants which were barely relevant to the overarching story. However, her investigation work often appeared solid and credible. Then one day in early 2020, the Youtube channel she had worked so hard on vanished, erased from existence by Monica herself. My immediate suspicion was that she had terminated the page because inaccuracies and falsehoods of her claims had been brought to light. Was the Tattle-Crime Saga a hoax? Monica had mentioned that she was a writer working on a TV script (unrelated to the saga) and that a deal with a production company might be on the horizon. My immediate thought was that her Youtube channel had been an ARG (alternate reality game), a publicity stunt in designed to gain her internet fame and launch her writing career. Alas, it wasn't that simple.

Who Is Monica Edwards?

Monica had a long history of posting on forums and running blogs. The topics ranged from fandom, to lifestyle, to what she referred to as “political” blogs. From what I was able to find of her political blogs, they often consisted of her trolling people into a reaction, for example a post in which she cruelly mocked excerpts of other people's posts about their difficulties in high school, essentially stating, “No one had it harder than me, you're all a bunch of babies, quit crying about it,” etc. So if Monica has a paper-trail of being both an obsessive fan and an internet troll, how can she be taken seriously? With these questions piling up, I look to reddit seeking answers as to the validity of Monica's reports and why she had terminated her channel. The below conclusions were revealed to me by moderators of the r/tattlecrime subreddit. They have authorized me to publish these findings.

Why did Monica delete the channel?

According to my sources, the “Tattle-Crime Saga” was not a hoax. It has in fact been verified by multiple community members that Jennifer Cornet was the individual Monica Edwards encountered in the Hannibal fandom. Despite her lack of professionalism and explosive temper, Monica had pinned down Jennifer's real identity and exposed her. In short, the day Jennifer Cornet crossed paths with Monica Edwards would be akin to a ballistic missile colliding with a fire bomb. In regards to the channel's deletion, a coming-to-light of various false reports were involved as I had suspected. Monica was right about some things but not everything. As Jennifer went deeper underground Monica stretched further and further for updates on the case. Meanwhile, a rift was forming between Monic and the Tattle-Crime Reddit as well as the Discord server. It appeared that Monica disliked these communities existing outside her moderation. She was quick to hurl insults and accusations at anyone who questioned her methods and conclusions. In early 2020, Monica apparently posted multiple videos about a supposed re-surfacing of Jennifer involving a Tumblr account which she claimed Jennifer was behind. This allegation was quickly dispelled as a hoax by the broader community. Rather than owning up to her mistake, Monica went dark on all her blogs “For fear of her life” as she insisted her critics were stalking her. One month later in March, 2020 she briefly reappeared to delete the videos and subsequently the channel. It should be noted here that the deletion of videos on her channel was a gradual process. Even before the false Jennifer sighting debacle occurred, Monica had deleted the 20-part series on the Tattle-Crime Saga and replaced it with a single, more concise video.

Conclusions

So there you have it. Monica Edwards did expose Jennifer Cornet in the Hannibal fandom. That said, all details of the case otherwise reported by Monica should be taken with a grain of salt. In this writer's opinion, Monica Edwards can no longer be trusted as a source due to she has self-sabotaged her credibility. Finally, I will add that after an IMDB search, it appears that Monica's script has not been picked up by a production company.

SYNOPSIS SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME 2021

Peter Parker retourne à l'école, essayant de faire face aux conséquences catastrophiques de la guerre entre Thanos et les Avengers. Le deuil et la confusion ont laissé leur empreinte sur l'éternel adolescent de la reine, à la veille de vacances scolaires qui emmèneront sa classe visiter certaines des villes européennes les plus importantes, dont Venise et Prague. Parti à New York, Tante May, Peter part avec son ami de confiance Ned et avec un plan pour déclarer son amour pour MJ. Cependant, non seulement des nouveaux rivaux romantiques devront se méfier de Spider-Man: le ravivé Nick Fury est sur sa queue et n'a pas l'intention de donner des jours de congé quand il est temps de sauver le monde. Une nouvelle menace, les élémentaires, surgit des entrailles de la planète, et en l'absence des Avengers, Peter est appelé pour soutenir un héros en visite sur une Terre parallèle, Quentin Beck.

Parmi les films peut-être les plus insidieux à réaliser dans la longue série de 23 qui composent l'univers cinématographique Marvel, la suite du nouveau cycle de Spider-Man construit un pont vers la nouvelle phase de la saga et propose une élaboration consciencieuse du deuil après dix ans de narration. qui viennent d'offrir la chose la plus proche d'une conclusion qu'ils auront jamais.

Que l'équipe de Kevin Feige et le réalisateur de retour Jon Watts aient réussi à rendre une séance de thérapie de groupe si authentique, mais aussi agréable, n'est pas moins exploit que de créer la fin parfaite dans Avengers: Fin de partie.

Loin de chez lui, Peter Parker est maintenant aussi vétéran blessé que son mentor Tony Stark, mais c'est aussi un Captain America au lycée, qui est resté seize ans pendant cinq ans alors que certains de ses coéquipiers ont grandi de manière disproportionnée. Une croissance-non-croissance qui l'a mûri mais pas assez pour avoir toutes les réponses que le monde demande à Spider-man: son stress post-traumatique devant une foule soucieuse de savoir où, comment et sous quelle forme les Avengers sont toujours parmi eux la même chose qu'une armée mondiale de fans, bercés pendant une décennie dans la sécurité en série puis percés par le sentiment d'une fin.
