My ball park theory for TWP/TBVOTD is that the mysterious disappearance Kit and Ty are going to be investigating is the disappearance of the one and only Magnus Bane.

I know what you’re thinking: Emma, why would you think that? (And honestly, I wasn’t sure until I was talking it over with @tsc-reader )

Well, this theory hinges on two main, plot-driven points:

1) That Magnus is quite heavily involved in the whole Ty-Livvy necromancy ordeal, as well as Livvy’s stability as a ghost/wayward spirit (which Kit is also quite heavily involved in, whether he likes it or not)

2) that the TMI gang are going to be in another realm [at some point] during TBVOTD, which occurs, chronologically, in line with TLKOF. (I also theorise that the realm they’re going to end up in is either Thule, or Lucifer’s realm. The former seems more plausible, given that the book is named after the Black Volume.)

Picture this: Magnus goes missing. This, as a result, impacts Livvy’s stability as a ghost and wayward spirit, corrupting her and causing her to fall a little out of touch with the present, waking world, which inevitably has an impact on Ty’s state of being as it is. Ty, being the intelligent little detective he is, brings it all back to the fact that Magnus has disappeared, and decides there is no other choice but to track him down — but can’t do it alone, not with Livvy’s current state taking its toll on him. And the only person who knows about Livvy, who can help him, is Kit. Who will, as we know, agree to help.

On the flip side, naturally the TMI gang (especially Alec) are going to freak the fuck out when Magnus goes missing and do everything they can to track him down. This includes, but is not limited to, inter-dimensional travel (they’ve done it before!! They can do it again!!) Somehow, through investigating, searching and seeking (and possibly with some help from our buddies Kit and Ty) the gang’s gonna track down where Magnus has gone and jump down that rabbit hole in search of them.

As for what happens next, I honestly couldn’t tell you. I don’t have a bucket full of evidence for this theory whatsoever, I just had a thought and figured I may as well share it. Right or wrong, it’s always fun to speculate! 🫶

TWP and BBoTD Teasers

So, I went through the 13 teasers that we have of TWP and BBoTD for the 13 millionth time and I have some questions regarding some of the snippets and I know that I won't get answers just yet, so I'm looking for imagination.

Teaser 2: He kissed each finger, and with each one of them spoken a word. Five kisses, five words. His last.

Now, I'm clueless. Clearly this is someone important who dies and it's a he. Ideas, anyone? I wish my brain was hardwired for more optimism.

I know, I know, kinda obvious that this is Ty talking about Kit, but I'm just curious. We see in Ghosts of Shadow Market that Ty avoids talking about Kit, even to Livvy, who he literally performed necromancy for! Does he think about Kit a lot or does he involuntarily do it anyway even if he doesn't want to? Clearly something more than what had happened in QoAaD is up which finally got Ty to talk about it. Comment your thoughts!

Teaser 1: Marry me today.

I feel like the most questions about all the teasers are about this one. There is literally nothing to go on, unlike the other 2 where we at least have something. It's like, we're so clueless our imagination stops working at the sheer amount of possibilities, and when we try to write them down they seem like nonsense. Don't worry though, I'm up for nonsense.

I don't know why this isn't talked about much, but, among the loose ends and problems that are going to be tied up in TWP and BBOTD, the one we've least talked about is Shinyun Jung.

She is a valid problem too, y'know? And as far as The Lost Book of The White tells us, her current power is comparable to that of LUCIFER. And we know that because she said at the end of the book that her power won't be dependent on any world like Sammael depends on Diyu. That makes her more powerful and more dangerous than the frickin' Father of Demons. She is FAR from gone.

Although I think that her power would be unstable due to the lack of a dependable resource and it would also be dangerous to herself, that doesn't mean she won't do enough damage on the way down.

In one of my reblogs, there's a theory that states that Alec survived a jab from the Svefnthorn because Lucifer bent the thorn's magic. That theory is solidified by the Epilogue of LBoTW, where Sammael gathered the other Princes of Hell, to inform them about Lucifer's plan. Obviously, that means Lucifer wants to keep tabs on the leader of all Shadowhunters, right? And who better to give him personal information about him than Shinyun Jung? Who spent quite a lot of time with Alec and Magnus in RSoM.

She won't be planning on serving Lucifer, though. She'll instead concoct a partnership with him, where they both are on equal levels. In my imagination, Lucifer probably bosses the other Princes into serving Shinyun too. Irrelevant, but still. :)

I also think she's going to be a part of Lucifer taking possession over Alec, which I think was the purpose of saving Alec in the first place.
