how much power is in the ring magnus give alec?

first, a little revisit to trsom

it's shown from scenes like this in the books that despite having the power to bring forward incapable feats or destruction, magnus doesn't want to use it, like at all. we get brief instances in the past where he used it and how much it affected him (killing his stepfather, creating earthquakes when he was upset). the status quo is set, magnus lightwood-bane and his immensely frightening, possibly corruptive magic will never accept each other's friend request again.

but then, there's this scene

the kind of power comes from the very heart of hell. we know warlocks are offsprings of demons, so it's safe to assume their heritage will somewhat show its influence in their magic. but this isn't your garden variety charm. from what the seelie girl trying to convey here, the ring literally reeks of magic from the deepest, most unpredictable and intimidating part of existence.

does alec know he's carrying a piece of magnus too-dangerous-to-not-be-unsealed-magic around him every day? and that there's no end magnus wouldn't go to, even if it's the part of himself he's terrified of, to keep alec safe?

Idc what you say, but that one scene from Ghosts of the Shadow Market where the Leader of the Shadow Market in Spain says that the power in Alec's ring comes from the heart of hell and Alec proudly says "𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮. This has spoilers! Unpopular opinion (and I may be biased because I love alec lightwood so much) but so many people mention how his fight with Magnus in COLS was out of character but I think it's pretty accurate. Let me explain. Alec has spent years repressing how he has felt, thought, and acted. He is 18 years old and never had any experience in a relationship. DO you guys remember your first relationship? Or being 18? Because I was extremely immature about so many smaller things than IMMORTALITY. Which is pretty fricken big. So he was a little bit slut shaming, but that wasn't his intention. He was insecure and hurt. I'm not saying it's an excuse, but I am saying it makes sense that he wasn't all understanding about it. He hasn't been with anyone else, magnus is his end all, that would hurt anyone. Red scrolls of magic was insane for his character growth and I adored every single part. But I liked his flaws in COLS too. Because it made him real, and we all have some flaws and in reality we don't look pretty all the time. Magnus absolutely had a right to break up with him of course he made a huge mistake, but its said in the books so many times that it wasn't the SOLE reason he broke up with him. So much more was going on with Magnus, he just wanted to protect Alec and himself from the heartbreak he knows so well. Also, exs have a way of getting under your skin, and I'm actually glad it showed that. I love these books endlessly and just wanted to share that thought.
