Alec was on his feet now. His seraph blade was in his hand. He shot a look of contempt at Sammael. “Michael,” he said, and as the sword blazed up with holy name, Sammael visibly inched at the sound of the archangel’s name. Magnus felt a wave of pride. Not everyone could diss a Prince of Hell so artfully.
Michael is the name of the Archangel who defeated Sammael and it is also the middle name of Alec's son. Maxwell Michael Lightwood-Bane.
I just think how Alec when in battle can use both his son's names and lit up the seraph blade. Rafael. Michael. Alec loves both his children to infinity and I am so sure of that.
It's so beautiful to know the fact that Alec thinks of his family and heads into a battle.
And, the way Magnus is proud of Alec makes this moment even better. Also, props to Alec's sassiness.

Not a single day goes by where I don't think about this scene.
My life was changed when I found out the context of the iconic malec quote (in blue) was said in the middle of a scene where Alec was getting fingered (?).
PS - All of this is happening in a) a church b) in a hell dimension c) while Magnus is literally slowly turning into a demon.
These people are wild if you ask me.

After the events in tlbotw, Ragnor got his phone back. When he opened it, he received all the messages that Raphael left him in Trsom and throughout tmi, thinking that Ragnor was dead, and during all this time the one who is really dead was Raphael

I like how shadowhunters have one (1) move when it comes to dealing with the Princes of Hell and it's literally just stabbing themselves in the chest. and somehow it works.

Welcome, one and all - to Malectober Edition 2.0!!!!!!
In case you've forgotten about Malectober, or this is the first time hearing of us - here's a refresher.
And obviously, we're back this year with a fresh new theme, a whole new set of prompts - including a very special one celebrating the release of 1989 (Taylor's Version)!
Now, lemme just rehash some rules -
Tag this account on all your malectober posts on tumblr!! Also include the tag "#malectober" within the first five tags on your post (or else it won't show up in the #malectober tag). This will help me find your posts so I can reblog them!
If you're posting on Ao3, make sure to add your fic to the official Malectober 2023 collection. Please make sure to add it on your own, since it's tedious to send out invites to anyone who hasn't added it to the collection.
I'll just repeat this here - ANYTHING GOES. Fics, art, moodboards, headcanons, playlists, picrews even.
AI work however is strictly forbidden.
Tag appropriately! And if you're posting NSFW work on tumblr, please put it under a "read more"!
If you're stuck on a prompt, replace it with one of the extras!!!
There's no right way to post your works. Post a prompt two days early, two days late, hell even after October if you want. Only rule is that posting starts from October 1st.
If you can't complete every single prompt, that's fine! Remember, this is only for fun. There's no need to stress yourself out.
If you have any questions, post them to my inbox!!
Happy Malectober in advance!!

been thinking about how alec would react if someone uses his life to force magnus to do something for them then realize we literally have a scene-by-scene playout how it gonna go in the last book of the white. it might become the worst experience of magnus's life, but alec would be glad his sacrifice let magnus live

It was strange and startling and terribly endearing, like Alec himself. Magnus then dragged Alec outside, pushed him up against the brick wall of Taki's under the sparking upside-down sign, and kissed him. Magnus then dragged Alec outside, pushed him up against the brick wall of Taki's under the sparking upside-down sign, and kissed him.
"What was that for?" Alec asked a long time later, eyes shining. Alec was young. Magnus had never been old, had never known how the world reacted to you when you were old, and had not been allowed to be really young for long either.
But Magnus was keenly aware that this was Alec's first time dating, doing anything at all. He had been Alec's first kiss. Magnus wanted to be good to him, not burden him with the weight of feelings that Alec might not return.
"Nothing," Magnus lied.
What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (The Bane Chronicles)
As soon as the bedroom door was closed, Magnus turned and pushed Alec against it, hard. He kissed him fiercely, drowning himself in the taste of Alec, the feel of Alec’s stubble against his mouth (Alec thought it was messy, but Magnus was kind of a fan), the strength of Alec’s arms as they reached up to hold the back of Magnus’s head and help deepen the kiss. When he pulled away, Alec’s bright blue eyes were surprised and glinting, his mouth an adorable curl. “That was unexpected.” “I missed you,” said Magnus, out of breath, and Alec, bless him, didn’t ask him what that meant, didn’t say that they had been together this whole time, but only kissed him back.

the way Jem Carstairs might be the model of a new era for shadowhunters?? Like being a shadowhunter by blood but after giving a lifetime of effort just deciding to be a person? To do the best you can while also valuing your own life?? After what happened in TLBOTW/QOAAD this seems like the path the shadowhunters are headed for

Yandere Lost Boys (4/8)
Tumblr media
Word count ; 4.3k
All of the lights cut out and I was left with no power. I screamed in frustration, realizing those assholes must’ve done it. I could hear them laughing from outside, shouting for me to let them in. I dropped the phone, letting it bounce to the ground instead of replacing it on the wall. Banging sounded on the kitchen window, and the pair’s faces were boring at me with playful yet murderous intent.
I backed up, glaring at them venomously. No matter how many times I licked my lips, I couldn’t refute my thirst. I went up the stairs, realizing I had to kick the others out. Dwayne was a lost cause. It was all a ruse to fill me up with whatever poison they gave me.
I burst open Ruby’s door, only to find David sitting against the headboard while Ruby cuddled against him. They were previously talking but they both turned to me.
Ruby was confused, but David knew that I knew.
“Ruby, these assholes are dangerous. Get the fuck off of him,” I growled.
She blinked turning to look at David and then at me. David didn’t refute the statement, cackling. That was enough for Ruby to clamber off the bed. David’s expression contorted into something vaguely pissed, and he almost snatched her ankle to pull her back.
“What’s going on?” she cried.
“They can fucking fly. And I can’t eat any normal fucking food. They - they poisoned us or —“
I was interrupted by Marko and Paul, who were banging loudly on Ruby’s second story window. They kept shouting incoherently and laughing. Ruby’s face contorted into shock.
“Oh. My. God. Get the fucking gun —“
“A gun won’t help.”
Suddenly a cold hand reached from behind me and took the knife away. I tried to fight against it, but it ended up flying out of grip and somehow landed shooting at David. I watched in terror as it struck right in between his eyes. I was praying it would kill the man with how deeply it lodged into his flesh.
David pursed his lips before he started laughing manically. Dwayne was laughing lowly from behind me, and I could barely fight it when his arm looped around my waist and pulled me into his chest. I pushed at his hand in vein while Ruby was so dumbfounded.
David effortlessly revved the knife from his forehead. It was coated in maroon and he did the most disgusting thing possible: he licked the knife clean, not breaking eye contact with one another.
“Come on in, boys,” David called, not looking away. “It’s an open house.”
The window flew open, and floating on air, the two men dipped into the room. Everyone except me and Ruby looked ecstatic and there was nothing more terrifying.
As a last result, I dug my heel into his shoe. He let out a yelp ,drawing everyone’s attention to us. I elbowed Dwayne and shoved him into the doorway, amazed I had the strength to pull it off. I weaved right around him and Ruby was quick to pursue.
None of the others chased, but I could hear their howling, taunting laughter. More teas threatened to fall, but Ruby beat me to it. She was as confused as I was. I ran into my bedroom, and one Ruby had entered, slammed the door behind her. It was like their voices were echoing in my head. I hated it.
“The gun,” I gasped, motioning to my bedside table. I pressed my back to the shut door, hearing the men catcalling from outside and pounding against it.
She pulled it out from the drawer and turned off the safety. At that moment, though, they quieted down. I got scared shitless. I knew they were outside the door. They were waiting for me to let up —
I screamed loudly when the door suddenly shattered into splinters and my body was sent right into my wall. I coughed and didn’t hurt nearly as much as I thought I was. A gunshot echoed and shattered my eardrums and I forced myself to flip over, sitting against the wall with my limbs skewed wildly.
She reloaded and shot again at David, who’d clearly been the one to break my bedroom door. There were several bullet holes riddling his jacket and shirt, and yet, he looked bored. Rather peeved. There wasn’t an ounce of pain lacing his features, and that terrified me.
“That’s no way to treat your friends,” David mocked.
His friends laughed. I noticed that Marko shoved his way in, one wine bottle still in hand. He had a large grin that would’ve been friendly if it wasn’t obvious they were terrible… people. Or whatever the hell they were. And, despite Ruby’s consistent shots, David walked right up to her and wrestled the gun away. She was quickly restrained and he even cover her mouth to hush her screams of terror.
Marko was quick to block my view and I pushed myself up to the wall as much as I could. He quirked a brow, his side not seeming any less smug. He had me back against the wall while I was trying to find the right time to kick him in the nards. He held the bottle out.
“Just have a sip.”
My nose twitched and immediately I found myself wanting to reach for the bottle. My lungs burned with thirst and it was even more so when I caught sent of the delicious poison. It was addicting but I refused to cave into whatever cult they were apart of.
Marko hummed in amusement, holding the bottle closer. I sat up just enough to see that David was force-feeding her the wine. And that Dwayne and Paul, who were previously standing in the doorway, were walking over to truly cage me in.
“Fuck you,” I spat angrily. “I -  I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but it won’t work —“
He thrust the bottle closer and my eyes widened. It smelled so good. It shut me up because no way in hell did I plan on drinking it. I couldn’t see Ruby, but I could hear her fearful sobs. I shut my eyes just as Paul crouched beside me and roughly grabbed my chin, tugging my face closer.
His grip was tight. I felt Dwayne’s callous fingers running through my hair until he also help it tightly, thrusting it forward.
“Just drink it,” Paul sneered. “You need to. Would you rather starve to death?”
“Wh…” Even just opening my mouth, I craved it. I could resists.
That is, until Marko took the chance to shove it into my mouth. My eyes widened the flavor was immaculate. I could barely control myself as I downed the entire bottle, not even stopping for air. I almost wanted another one, but that was because I wasn’t in the right state of mind. I was drugged.
Marko pulled it away, and everyone in the room was laughing. My lips almost chased it, wanting every sip. But instead, I pulled myself together, wanting nothing more than to burst into tears.
Paul’s hand withdrew and Marko stood up straight. My nails were digging into the wall and Dwayne’s hand softened, instead massaging the nape of my neck through my hair.
“See? That wasn’t so hard,” he muttered, only to me.
I sent him a glare, tearing myself away and standing up. I was worried it would kick in soon. The house was still pitch black, but if I could at least make it out the front door and get to a neighbor, then we’d have some chance of not being kidnapped or whatever the fuck.
David was holding Ruby to his chest, hushing her sobs. He kept repeating that “we were one of them”, but I had no idea what it meant. Nobody was explaining anything and that made it even worse.
Ruby pushed away and I dashed over to her. We enveloped each other in hugs, me more so being the ‘strong’ one. Both of us were terrified, but at least I wasn’t having a panic attack yet.
“Good,” David hissed. “No need to be so afraid, girls. If we wanted you dead, you would be.”
“You fucking poisoned us!” Ruby wailed.
David scowled, and it was clear the other men were on their last strand as well. “Incorrect. You’re one of us. A vampire, Ruby. You’ll never age and you’ll never die. You should be thanking us.”
A vampire.
That was enough to connect the dots. It wasn’t alcohol. It wasn’t poison. It was blood. And I had never felt so terrible a day in my life. I’d drank indirectly from another human being’s corpse. Ruby was looking just as crestfallen, and she stopped crying from the sheer shock of it all.
It didn’t take a genius for me to know what my decision would be. I wasn’t standing for it. Fuck this and fuck them. I wasn’t like them. I wouldn’t consciously be a murderer. I would rather die of thirst or whatever the fuck than abide by whatever vampire rules they had.
I wasn’t going to kill people.
And I knew Ruby like the back of my hand. She wasn’t going to either.
“Get. Out.”
David’s seriousness washed away, the same as the rest of them. Dwayne was the only one not belting out laughter. The other three were clutching their stomachs and feigning that they had been moved to tears.
“You can’t be serious, Y/n,” Marko exclaimed. “Don’t you get it? You’re with us now.”
I could feel Ruby shaking. And whether it was fear or anger or both, it didn’t matter. I rubbed circles around her back.
“I said get the fuck out and don’t you dare come back! By god, if I see your slip faces around, why, I’ll —“
“You’ll what, Y/n?” David scoffed. “Stab us? Knives don’t work. Shoot us? Bullets don’t work. And so long as you try and live a normal human existence - which you can’t - you will never be strong enough to fight even one of us. Try and push us away. You’ll only end up crawling back once you realize you don’t have a choice.”
My nostrils flared and my anger was directed solely at that David, the damned cult leader. All of the others were just as responsible, even if I had an undeniable attraction to Dwayne. They were all psychopaths. And I would take no part in their order sprees and power trips.
“Leave.”
Paul pouted, drawing our attention to him. “Aw. Are you sure? Maybe you just need another glass to sober you up —“
“Get the fuck out!” Ruby suddenly shrieked at the top of her lungs. I was taken aback and it blew my eardrums out momentarily, but I made sure not to spare any distance between us. I covered my ear, watching as hr face contorted into pure fury. She pushed me away and stalked up to David. Se was a petite woman, but even I knew not to piss her off.
She suddenly pushed him, and David was sent back a foot. All of them snickered. I sent Dwayne a glare when he tried to step closer, adorning that of a feigned puppy-dog expression. A snarl graced Ruby’s face.
“We’re not asshole psychos like you all are. Gag me with a fucking spoon because I - I swear to god I’ll bash your skull in with a toenail. Don't talk to us ever again or you’ll be gone. Done-zo. You’re not welcome here or anywhere ever again, and we will fix whatever the fuck you’ve done to us.”
The others were about to laugh but it went silent as they realized David was not happy to hear that. He took a step back. His glare was pointed and serious. There wasn’t even an ounce of playfulness on his mature, rough features.
“We’re done here, boys. For now.”
Marko groaned in annoyance and Paul muttered a ‘whatever’. Dwayne was silent as he followed the group out of the bedroom. I would’ve shut the door, but - oh wait, there wasn’t one anymore. I guess I was temporarily saying good-bye to my privacy, although that was the least of my worries.
We were frozen in place for a while. The entire house was silent. We were finally alone.
“What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?” I muttered in disbelief.
~~~
“Hey,” Ruby greeted with a yawn, joining me on the couch. The sun had just set. “I’m really tired of being stuck inside all the time… And, like, I know we’re pretty screwed when we’re around humans —“
“Other humans —“
“You’re still in denial, huh?” she groaned. “Anyways, you don’t have work, and… I really want to go to the pier. Besides, Dwayne made another surprise visit and we’ve already had some blood, and I just really need to get out and do something. I'm getting all depressed from just sitting inside all day - or night.”
I pursed my lips. She was right. I was getting depressed, too. The offer was tempting.
And, indeed, Dwayne seemed to be the only psychopath that had anything genuine about him. After the first few days, he’d directly walk inside and scare us shitless. He’d try to convince us, but speaking wasn’t his forte. We’d kick him out, and eventually, he got the hint to just live it on the doorstep.
I would never admit it, but it made me want him more. But I figured that was just a species-attracted-to-species thing. He could act all he wanted, but we knew the truth. That they were selfish murderers.
“Um, yeah. That sounds fun,” I agreed after much thought. “Maybe we can make a new fashion accessory where we put clothes pins over our noses.”
Ruby laughed for what seemed to be the first time in weeks. She slapped my arm. All at once, she had lit up to be like her former self. She jumped from the couch and I didn’t need to ask to know that she was heading upstairs to doll herself up.
I should probably do the same.
And by the time we did, we were out and about on the town. We hadn’t purchased tickets for the amusement park, especially when we saw flyers advertising a free indie band concert on the beach. All that was required is that we vote for the band we liked most after the show.
The concert was crowded, despite the unlimited beach space. It had already started at about seven and it was already approaching eight. That meant we were stuck crowded on the sidelines, constantly being squeezed against some cheering or vomiting strangers.
We were wearing clothes pins on our noses, by the way. It was a fashion statement that several people had already pointed out. Our explanation?
‘We don’t want to smell all the gross sweat and vomit around us.’
I was actually enjoying the current song. The man on stage was shirtless and greased to the gods while also playing a saxophone. It was a bold move and I already knew he’d won my vote. I cheered and hollered, feeling happy and normal for the first time in weeks.
Until Ruby nudged me.
“Y/n, we need to go. Please,” she grunted, and when her mouth tiled into a snarl, I saw that small fangs were contorting. She was sweating profusely and wrinkles began forming on her face. A man had bumped into her. And clearly, that was enough to set off the blood lust.
In concern, I grabbed her arm. She clutched the back of my shirt tightly and I heard her panting. We began squeezing through the crowd and I made sure to feign excitement and normality. We shoved our way through, some commenting on how sick my friend seemed, but we ignored them.
That is, until I made pointed eye contact with a young man my age. There was a kid beside him. He looked stoic, arms crossed, and had curly brown hair. He was tall and attractive, but I was probably saying that because I hadn’t touched grass in a very long time.
An opening showed right in front of him so I crossed his line of sight. I could feel Ruby trembling against me. I brushed into the stranger, and it was like lightning sparked. Then again, I knew we looked weird. We were worth staring at thanks to our fashion decisions.
A we walked past, I glanced behind me. His mouth was agape and his eyes were following. I looked back to the path in front of me, a blush burning my cheeks. I peered at the concert one last time, a laugh bubbling in my throat as I saw the greasy man was humping the saxophone during the guitar solo. I was living for this concert. It was a shame Ruby wasn’t.
“Wait,” she croaked. “It’s getting a little better now.”
“Are you sure?” I spoke hushed.
“Yes. I want to stay. This place is so fun.”
I chuckled as she distanced herself. She looked fine again after readjusting her clothes pin. I laughed, returning my attention to the stage. The song had continued ‘as normal’ but it was the chorus. Ruby started cheering from beside me, shouting at me to dance a little
I did, waving my hands in the air ecstatically. I swayed my hips, singing quietly to the song. However,, my eyes drifted back over to him. He was staring so intently, and I found myself sending him a grin and sending him a small wave.
His younger brother or something noticed and tried drawing his attention back to the stage. Ruby kept pushing my attention back to the stage, and yet, my eyes kept being drawn to the handsome stranger. A small smile had developed on his face as we maintained steady eye contact.
“Shit!”
Despite the clothes pins, we both found ourselves being drawn to a man who had a bloody nose. I almost wanted to pounce, but I grabbed Ruby. “We have to go. Now.”
Ruby gasped, holding her nose. I wasted no time in turning right around the stranger nothing but on the back burner of my mind. The blood smelled so good. With every racing stop I took, I longed to return or to attack any of the people we shoved by.
"Bathroom," Ruby gasped, tears sprouting from her eyes. “Now.”
We finally made it to the end of the pier. I wanted nothing more than to wait by the rail and catch some fresh air. Meanwhile, Ruby went into the alley where the stalls were. There were occasionally people walking by, but none that smelled so strongly of blood.
I leaned over the rail and took off the clothes pin. My nose was completely numb and dented. I could smell people’s flesh and I could hear their heartbeats as they walked by. However, the ocean salt hit me just as hard. I gasped quietly, leaning my head over to completely view the azure waves.
I hummed quietly to myself. I became calm, and I was only vaguely aware of distant screeches and the revving of engines. I sucked one last anxious breath in and stretched my arms. It was tiring to be around so many people when all I was tempted to do was eat them.
I jumped as several car horns beeped at me. I turned to look, only to be blinded by several headlights. Irritation rose within me as I used my hand as a shield. The vehicles swerved and parked against the pier, much to some passerby’s distaste.
When I could finally see, my heart stopped, even though I’m pretty sure it did a while ago. Hopping off their motorcycles with their respective perverse smirks were the vampires I strove to distance myself from. Marko was the first to truly disrupt the boundaries I’d set between us, stalking right over to me and excitedly picking me up.
I swatted at his face, but all he did was laugh.
“Didn’t expect to run into you so soon!” Marko greeted as Paul saddled up beside him. David was hanging back at the motorcycles, and so was Dwayne.
“Where’s your friend?” Paul inquired. “I didn’t think you’d show up alone.”
I bit my lip, glancing around the pier for the petite woman as Marko set me back on my own two feet. I noticed her head peeking out of the alleyway, but I shook my head. I didn’t want her to be subjected to their tom-foolery. I’d get rid of the men by myself.
David’s game flitted over to where I was looking, but by then, Ruby had already ducked back inside of of fear. “Ah-h-h. The bathroom. It’s almost as though things would be easier if you just let it happen.”
I scowled, stepping away from them. “Just leave us alone. We already know how to turn back, actually.”
All of their expressions became stoney and serious. I couldn’t tell if it was because they bought the lie, or if it was because I had the audacity to in the first place. Either way I started peering around at my surroundings. If I ran, would they pursue?
I didn’t get the chance to try, because Paul suddenly grabbed my wrist, tight enough to emit a yelp from me. He tugged me closer, and I realized I was slowly being dragged over to the motorcycles.
I grit my teeth, trying to pull away, but Marko ensured that I was staying put by wrapping an arm around my waist and drawing me closer to the vehicles. His breath threateningly fanned over my ears as he whispered,”  How about you enlighten us back in the cave, angel face?”
Was this where I was murdered? Was I as good as dead? I squeaked suddenly as Dwayne intervened. “Hey.”
“Yeah? What’s up, man?” Paul cackled.
“…” He seemed unsure of himself for a moment. “She can ride with me.”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m riding with no one, actually.” I ripped away from their grasp, and as I peered through the crowd behind us, I was one again taken aback. The stranger from earlier had seemingly followed, and he was starting to walk this way. “Now if you don’t excuse us, I have a guy to talk to.”
They all cackled in amusement and that was convincing enough to release me. The man was grinning ear from ear as he saw me detach from the gang. I didn’t want to talk to him near other people, though, so I continued to walk along the rail.
“Hi,” he greeted, walking slightly beside me. I sent him a grin from over my shoulder. I noticed in dismay, though, that some of the boys were following from afar. Dwayne looked unhappier than usual. “What’s your name?”
I ignored the bubbling fear in my chest, tilting my head. “Y/n.”
“I like that. I’m Michael. What happened to your friend? Did she ditch you?”
“She had to go home,” I fibbed, falling in line beside him. I had my hands shoved in my jean pockets casually. “I wanted to stick around.”
Michael tilted his head, a smirk growing across his expression. “Why?”
“You sure do like to ask questions, don’t you?” I giggled. “What if I told you I saw a pretty boy and wanted to talk to him?”
“Then I would hope that pretty boy was me.”
“Then you’d be in luck, Michael.”
“Do you want to get something to eat?” he inquired, hopping onto the motorcycle next to us.
“Yeah. I would love that.” My stomach wouldn’t, but I’d do anything for the pursuit of love. He was so pretty.
I was about to hop on, but several motorcycles blocked us in. David pulled right in front of his path while Dwayne parked beside me and Marko and Paul trapped him into the other side.
David was eyeing me venomously. “Where ya going, Y/n?”
I scowled out of distaste, but wanted to spare poor Michael from the ‘drama.’ “Around.”
Michael quirked a brow, seeming to notice my discomfort. “I’m Michael. Let’s go.” His voice was gentle and almost made me melt then and there. His hand reached out to my own, tugging lightly. I knew that if I wasn’t paralyzed with fear I would’ve been blushing like a cherry.
“Y/n.”
It was Dwayne who had spoken up this time. There was something threatening in his voice. I dared to look at him, and I don’t think I’d ever seen him angry. His brow were furrowed and a firm frown was planted on his expression. I looked at the rest of them, too, and even Marko was frowning.
Oh, no.
Michael was obviously concerned. He gave me another tug, but I knew that I had to spare the innocent guy from being dragged into the rest of their bullshit. Michael released me when I caved, walked over to Dwayne. Paul laughed, hitting the head of his motorcycle. Dwayne didn’t ease up, but David sure did.
Michael watched in dismay as I shakily hopped onto Dwayne’s. I made sure not to wrap my arms around his waist as I knew he was tense and that scared me. His soft locks blew in my face and I was too ashamed to met Michael’s baffled eyes.
“Do ya know where Hudson’s Bluff is overlooking the point?” David suddenly asked.
Michael scoffed. “I can’t beat your bike.”
“You don’t have to beat us, Michael. You just have to try and keep up.”
“We know exactly what you mean,” Alec said, looking at Jace. “And you are a good parabatai, Clary. Watching you and Simon together—”
“It’s like seeing the two of us,” Jace said, indicating himself and Alec. “Strength and beauty. Perfect harmony. Skill and intuition, exactly matched.”
Alec raised an eyebrow. “Are you strength or beauty?”
“I think we all know the answer to that,” said Jace.
