y’alls gifs are so good!!! 😭 it’s insane how high quality they are. could i ask you how you make them and what photoshop settings you use? (for example the bad sisters bibi garvey ones are crazy good)

thank you so much!! unfortunately, not all of the members use the same gif settings but treena (@rosamndpike) is the person who made that set and she has her sharpening settings posted here!

i would definitely suggest asking the members directly on their blogs too!!

Hi ! First I would like to say your gifs are so beautiful and I was wondering if for the gradient series you were using a template for the gifs and how do you generate the gradient for each scene ? Thank you in advance

if you mean sets like my carol set, i use this template here, the same i linked on the bottom of the post. i follow treena's tutorial by the book until the last step. my only addition to this template is that i add a rectangle (with the rectangle tool) with the same height of the other rectangles and the width of all of them together.

after that, i change the fill to gradient.

(sorry, my ps is in portuguese, but the images must be the same for you i think dskjg)

then, i pick the colors i want for the actual gif and them put them in the gradient (here i'm using b&w bc i deleted my psd for the carol gifs oops...)

i'm pretty sure the gradient type in english is "solid. i also make my, uhh, color thingys (idk how they are called in english help) positions 0>25>50>75>100, so the gradient will be smooth and proportional, but you may play with it as you like :)

i then delete the smaller rectangles, so the gradient is the only thing that appears.

the only thing i say regarding the usage of colors is: - even if you use the eyedropper tool, the color may look "awkward" compared to itself in the gif (because the way colors behave is complex sometimes), so don't be afraid to mess around the color selector and choose a color that you think fits better on the gif and on the gradient itself - the order matters!! be careful picking the colors you'll use so the gradient will be smooth. don't transition abruptly between green and purple and then red, try to find a middle ground between your colors. i usually keep the opposite colors in opposite sides of the gradient and use whatever fits better between them (usually lighter colors).

i hope this messy explanation helps, but you can hmu anytime :) my english is not the best lol but i'll try my best <3

Marvel Heroes by @sersi - Absolutely, without a doubt, one of my favourite edits I’ve seen this year. The detail and the composition blew my mind! The quote tops it off by pulling at my heartstrings. Other favourites by Elysia are this and this Captain America edits. 

The Mandalorian by @usergeralt -  The colours? The blending? The typography? It’s just so beautiful. I am such a sucker for gentle colour gradients and that second gif just speaks to me. All of Annie’s Mando Week sets are really lovely!

The Witcher by @katherineebishop - This edit is burned into my memory. It’s so vibrant and elegant and the composition is so beautiful! Doing this meme I just noticed Laura has a tag called spacegifs and wow, I’m in love with her sets all over again!

The Expanse by @cara-gee - The Expanse Appreciation Week was a super fun event, particularly because it’s a smaller fandom than what I’m used to and the quality of sets was top notch. This is hands down my favourite set from that event. Treena makes such beautiful rainbow sets like these and those, I’m in love.

Steve Rogers by @userachilles - Everything Emma has made is beautiful and this is one of my many favourites!! I am absolutely weak for my captain and that colour combination and the blending omfg??? Just brilliant. Emma I know you’re up to your armpits in Hades but I will still love your beautiful Steve gifs. 

The Falcon Captain America and the Winter Soldier by @jackarthurdavenport - This is just SO well done? The blending is perfect and the red and blue contrasted with the monochrome is so lovely!! Also Elle I miss you 💕

Black Panther by @sith-maul - do I need to explain!? Just incredible. The vibrancy of that purple and the blending and typography is all god tier editing. I love all of Nik’s work but this is a strong fave.

The Mandalorian picspam - this is probably my most prized edit from that year! To be completely honest it was the result of an attempt of making some fancy gif edit but I got frustrated and realised I could make a picspam AND include so many more screenshots of my favourite parts of the series. 

Steve Rogers - this set was one of those ‘well I have this vague idea but let’s see what happens’. The magic of the second gif happened by accident, I duplicated a layer into the wrong file and ended up with something really cool and I’m so proud of. I’d redo the last gif tho sldkfjsdf let’s ignore that one

Pedro Pascal birthday set - I LOVE THIS WORK. I am so proud of it. It felt so simple at first but of course I naturally gravitate towards colourful gifs, and I couldn’t figure out a red colour. That Triple Frontier gif really went off, I’m so proud and honestly have no idea how I managed to achieve that.

Narcos Javier Pena - I’m so glad Astrid suggested this playlist for inspo because everything just worked seamlessly. I can’t think of a better song that speaks to Javier’s character. I really played with fade-ins and blending to suit the mood for each gif.

TFATWS John Walker DIY tutorial - lmao this was SO FUN to make. Don’t ask me to do it again though because I have no idea lol I was so high on the serotonin of the idea of this and it’s my most reblogged gifset this year 

The Mandalorian x tumblr banned tags part 1 and part 2 - lmao I just love how Tumblr users respond to these situations. I also love these sets from other fandoms!

Simu Liu on Shang Chi - I made this edit because these sentences spoke to me so strongly, and I read so much feedback in tags and comments about people who feel the same way! I love Simu for understanding the weight of his role and how much his story means to the Asian community. Not much in terms of editing, but this edit means a lot.

Natasha Romanoff - yeah I tried really hard on this and it didn’t go off the way I hoped. I had done a similar colour edit for Steve which did quite well. I worked 10x harder for Natasha’s and I really wish it picked up more notes :(

Marcus Moreno - the colouring is definitely something I haven’t dared to do before - it’s almost fluorescent. Kinda wanna redo it.

Chris Evans birthday edit - unfortunately this was a day late but I still like how I pulled this off. Navy is a colour that looks so good on him!!

If Beale St Could Talk - so colouring this broke me lol I’m still not 100% happy with it, but I did the best I could. Also, this movie broke me into a million pieces.

summary : The Lothbrok brothers are an utter liability. Thankfully, they have a few good friends to keep them in check, or turn the shenanigans up a notch. Enter Myda, Treena and Toby Wick. Friends since childhood, with them all together life is far from dull. But when sodafloats and skinned knees turns to beers and bruised knuckles, will things stay the same?

authors note: i am so nervous about posting this!! this is a fic that i wasn't really planning on writing! It's been bumbling about in my notes for longer than i'd like to admit to, and couldn't sleep so - uhh tadaah?! i have no idea where im going with this -please let me know what you think <3

There was no logical reason why, after getting home from a 12 hour shift absolutely cream cracker-ed with a house to tidy, washing to do and two new episodes to binge on Netflix, she would find herself stomping down to Hviterks flat at 9pm on a Wednesday night. But that was exactly where she was.

Her red trainers thudded along the pavement. There was just something that was tugging at her. A little voice in the back of her mind that wouldn’t stop nudging. So Myda had somewhat reluctantly left the comfort of her nice warm house, to stomp down the street in the frost, for really no reason at all. Just a feeling.

After the third attempt at knocking, her spare key was in the lock. The door was flung to the back.The whole place was in darkness. Maybe he wasn’t-

Water. She could hear water. She was at the bathroom door before she knew where she was. Scrabbling at the door handle.

“Hvit? Hvit?” She called out, finally getting the door open with her whole body weight behind it.

He was in the bath. The plug in, cold water pouring over him, pouring out over the lip. Water all over the the floor. A steady stream running everywhere. He was there, he was alive. In the bath, fully clothed, staring at the wall. And as high as a fucking kite, but alive. Alive was the main thing.

She took the breath she didn’t realise she’d been holding. “Hey Hvit, you okay?” She said gently, grabbing a towel from the back of the door.

He seems to hear that. He looked in her general direction. “Mm fine.”

“Okay,” she breathed out, “Let’s get you out of here, eh?”

“No, no. I’m fine.”

“Nah, I think we’ll get you out of here.” She pulled the plug, the water spiralling down the drain. The floor was still sodden, but once she’d gotten Hvit sorted she’d deal with that. The floor wasn’t going to get pneumonia.

“Oh!” Hvitserk said, “The waters leaving!”

“Yeah, I think we should do the same. Come on Hvit, we’ll get you to bed.”

He looked at her, utterly puzzled. “Mydz? When did you get here?”

She smiled sadly, “Just now by Hvitty. Come on. Up you get.”

He looked first at her, then back down at himself. His jeans were sticking to him, absolutely soaked. As was his t shirt. The water was nearly out of the bath. He scrabbled around for the bath handles, before sitting up and nearly falling back again.

A hand on his back stopped him.

“There we go.” Somehow, she got him persuaded out of the bath. Now she had a very cold, very soggy Hvitserk. Taking him by the shoulders she pushed him down onto the toilet seat.

“Hvit, I’m going to get these clothes off of you. Okay?” Myda said. Fingers fumbling in the gloom of the unlit bathroom. The only light being the cocktail of street and moon light falling in from the tiny window. She found the bottom of his t shirt and pulled it up over his head.

“Hvits, I’m going to need you to raise your arms for me.” A mumble, and his arms raised. All of 2 inches.

She got the neck of his t shirt up over his soggy blond locks. And managed to get the arms off of him. The t shirt was thrown back in the bath in disgust. Now came the next problem - jeans. She bent down a little, carefully pushing his body back towards the wall. She found the button and the zip, got both undone. She wiggled down as much as she could.

“Can you stand up with me?”

Hvitserk took her arm in an utter daze. Gently rising to his feet, he never noticed that she’d pushed his jeans down further, and then pushed down on them with her foot to get them down around his ankles. He was sitting back on the toilet before he ever realised he’d not been there. Quickly, Myda hauled the jeans off of him, taking his socks while she was there. The whole lot was flung in the bath.

Nearly naked, and with his teeth chattering, Hvitserk stumbled into the bedroom with Myda hot on his heels. He collapsed onto the end of the bed immediately.

Myda sighed sadly taking in the scene in front of her. Empty bottles, pill packets and dirty clothes littered the floor. The curtains were to the back, letting every ounce of moonlight in to them. She stalked over to the bed, gently taking the towel she still had in her hands to Hvitserks shaking body.

“Oh Hvit,” she mumbled, her eyes welling up as she dried him off, What have you gotten yourself into?”

He just started blankly at the ceiling.

Her words not resonating.

She dried the rest of him off wordlessly. Tears were streaming down her face by the time she’d finished.

She wiped them away with an unsteady hand before giving him a watery smile. “Come on then, let’s get you into bed.”

Hvitserk lay limp like a paper doll as she manoeuvred him under the covers.

“There we go.” she mumbled, as the covers were drawn up to his neck. She gently pushed the hair from his eyes, gave his shoulder a firm but heartfelt squeeze before turning and leaving him to sleep off his high. Her heart shattered as soon as she took her first step.

The tears were falling thick and fast as she slid down the hallway wall. Coming to rest with her hands in her hair, her knees up in front of her. She sobbed. Thoughts raced through her mind like wild horses. What is she hadn’t have come? What if she’d decided to stay in, would anyone else have checked on him? If she’d have come earlier, would he be this bad? If she’d come later, would he still be here? Would Hvitserk still be alive? She shook her head to clear that thought, as a gut wrenching sob escaped her. She couldn’t think like that.

Her hands came to play with her bracelet in front of her as her head fell back against the wall and her sobs died away. Now she had the difficult bit. Taking a deep breath, she pulled her phone out of her pocket. Fingers fumbling with the keypad as she typed in this number. She hesitated over the call button, her nose wrinkling as she rethought her next move. Fuck it. She pressed the button and brought it to her ear.

By the third ring, her heart was in her mouth and her eyes were welling up again. The line crackled.

“Hello?” A sleepy voice drifted down the line.

Silently thanking every god she could think of, she smiled. She had never been so happy to hear a voice in all her days.

“Hey Chief.” she said tearily, “It’s me.”

“Mydz? What’s happened?” The concern in his voice was clear as a bell.

She took a shaky breath, before replying “It’s Hvitserk. He’s…down the rabbit hole again.”

The rustle of bed sheets came filtering through the airwaves. Followed by scruffle of a phone being dropped and a string of curse words. “I’m on my way.” He said calmly, “Hang tight Mydz. It’ll be okay.”

“I hope so Ubbe.”

The dial tone echoed in her head as she pressed end call. Gods did she hope so

This is going to be a (probably) 12-part series where I migrate some of my proudest work from Deviant Art to Tumblr. Today, I will be revisiting my newest work as a strong start. 

JENNA COLEMAN APPRECIATION POST [ Deviant Art Migration - 1] 

As a New Who - Doctor Who fan, I love pretty much all of the companions for their performance and chemistry with their respective Doctor’s. But the one that I think is the prettiest with the best costume choices is Jenna Coleman’s - Clara Oswald.

Back in 27 April 2018 (which was Jenna’s Birthday), I posted this Van Gogh inspired digital painting of diner uniform Clara Oswald. I really put a ton of effort into this piece because, at the time. I wanted to get the approval from the Whovians who loved Clara Oswald as a character. 

I focused as much as I could on the painstaking details and this was my proudest achievement at the time. I took it from one of the Behind The Scenes photos. (yes, I’m not gonna even hide that fact.) The green crown pays tribute to the Christmas Specials where the paper crown Clara Oswald wears is almost always, green. I think it fits this picture perfectly.

The background was not given a lot of thought. I just think that the reds, maroons and pinks will compliment the amount of blues on the dress. I really pushed myself loads to get to this style right and see just how far can i go with this.

You can find Jenna in action in; Doctor Who as Clara Oswald, Victoria as Queen Victoria, Me Before You as Katrina “Treena” Clark and a few other shows/ movies. Oh, and she made a cameo in Captain America; First Avenger as Bucky’s date.
