great achievements my piece for the @technoblade-first-try-challenge my prompt was: technoblade braiding his hair highly inspired by this post

Dream shifted uncomfortably beneath the heavy cape. It was too hot to wear inside the cell, if he were being completely honest with himself, but the weight and coverage granted the illusion of safety. “Illusion” was the key word here; he wasn’t safe. Not here, not with anyone.

Yet, Technoblade sat behind him, carefully twisting his long hair into a delicate braid and then curling it within itself, making something of an updo. A few hours ago, he had Dream crouched over the cauldron and washed through the matted strands the best he could, and then he waited for it dry while occasionally combing through it with his fingers. Once that was done, he sat Dream down and did his best to put it into a style that won’t get mangled again.

“I’m bored. Not much else to do,” was Techno’s excuse.

Dream’s excuse would’ve been something along the lines of ‘I had my back to him many times already. He would’ve hurt me already if he was determined. He’d wait until I was asleep.’ but he didn’t say it.

“Ya know, there’s no mirror in here. I could make you look like anythin’ and you’d have no idea,” Techno deadpanned at some point, breaking the silence suddenly and making Dream jump.

“Don’t put a dick on my head,” Dream rebutted.

“Dream.”

“Or... uh, that sounds bad. Uh, don’t... don’t put my hair in the shape of a penis.”

“I was thinkin’ Pennywise hair myself, actually. Or maybe double pigtails-- a bit of Harley Quinn action.” He placed two fists on the top of Dream’s skull, miming where pigtails might have sat on him.

“Harley’s cool,” Dream granted.

“You ever see all of my braids?”

It seemed like a dumb question. They were hard to miss. There were many brains of different sizes and lengths along Techno’s head, some which were adorned with beads or twisted around a colorful fabric. “Yeah?” Dream replied.

“They’re piglin culture. I braid the same things into my hair every wash day, and it takes forever. They all mean different things. There’s a warrior one, and another for all the weapons I’ve mastered. A few spiritual ones. One that’s matchin’ with Phil.” He ran his finger along the side of Dream’s temple. “I gave you one. It’s a little hidden.”

Dream felt heat rise to his face. His excuse would’ve been ‘It’s hot under this stupid cape of yours,’ but he didn’t say it. “What does it mean?”

“It’s for a great achievement. The achievement bein’,” Techno’s smile was evident in his voice. He was awful proud of this, “survivin’ in a death box.”

“I haven’t survived it yet. Neither have you. Quackity could come back any day now--”

“--and we’re gonna survive it, that’s what I keep tellin’ you! C’moooon, have some faith, c’mon. You’re never get the ‘faith’ braid at this rate, c’mooon.”

Dream adjusted the cape on his shoulders a bit, with a smile on his face.

I tried the @first-try-techno-challenge and hasdkfsdfa wow this was difficult. I know it's all pretty chill but I wanted to stick to the 30-minute limit.

counting dogs

my piece for the 'first try techno challenge'! i actually got dream and decided to roll again and combine the next roll which was the hound army! anyway, written with two minutes to spare <3 <3

“There’s no way you know all their names,” said Dream. Despite the heavy armor and his wide-legged, firm stance, the mass of dogs was still pushing him around and he struggled to stand in one place. “I mean, there’s like—”

He paused, clearly attempting to count.

Techno let him, mouth pulled into a grin, one eyebrow shooting up as far as it could go. When the silence stretched on, Techno gave him a little nudge, metaphorically.

“There’s…”

Dream twitched, turning his head towards Techno.

“There’s like, forty of them,” he said. “No way you know all their names, Technoblade.”

“I mean, there’s actually about 180 but who’s countin’. Who’s countin’…” He reached down and scratched one of the dog’s ears as it wagged its tail so excitedly that its whole body went with the tail. “Well, you were but let’s just forget about that.”

“Oh my god…”

Dream’s ears – the only part visible beneath the mask and the hood – turned bright red. It was probably rude to laugh but Techno did anyway, the dogs barking at the sound, working themselves up. Reaching out, Dream caught himself on the wall as one particularly eager dog bowled into him.

“Hey, Em, easy girl,” said Techno, making his way over. The dogs parted for him easily, tails going a mile a minute, accompanied by quiet barks and whines. “See? Nothin’ to it, Dream.”

“Yeah, well, that’s because they’re yours so they listen to you.”

“That is usually how it works, yup.”

“You’re so annoying.” Dream steadied himself. “But there’s seriously no way you’ve named all the dogs.”

Techno held his hands up, chuckling.

“Okay, you got me there, Dream. I haven’t got around to namin’ them all.”

“So you don’t know all their names,” said Dream, tone of voice triumphant, pointing a finger at Techno. “Which means I was right.”

Lightly, Techno smacked his hand away and one of the dogs took the action as an invitation to play, jumping up on Dream eagerly, licking at the mask. Techno was expecting a harsh reaction, had tensed in preparation for it, but Dream only made a noise of vague disgust and pushed the dog away.

“Ah ah ah. I know all the names of the dogs that have names.” Techno knelt, ruffling the fur of the closest dog. “So technically I know all of the dogs’ names.”

“What? No! That’s not—” Dream sputtered, trying to find a way to argue, wanting to argue, and coming up short. “Whatever.”

“So, you admit that you’re wrong.”

He was wrong but Dream would never admit to it.

“Shut up, Techno.”

“That’s what I thought,” he said, patting the dog on the head as he got to his feet.

Dream watched him, head tilted to the side. With the mask, the effect was strange, almost childlike.

“You should let me name a dog.”

“You wanna name a dog?”

It wasn’t an immediate refusal, more like an offer, and Dream straightened.

“Yeah.” A short pause. “Name it… Name it ‘Dream Has a House’.”

Techno laughed, loud and booming, and set the dogs off again. A mass of dog flesh writhed in the small space and Techno reached out, trying to pat each one as best he could.

“Easy, Dice. Easy, Fossilnet. Easy, Max.” After a moment, the barking and whining died down. “Alright, alright, but only for you, Dream.”

More headcanons because yes

- food, food in the worlds of Minecraft is generally strange but there are key tenants to help you understand.

- Stuff that can be quickly crafted, cooked or made from base ingredients (such as wheat instead of flour) is filling in a sense but won’t sustain a players body.

- Stuff that is made with more time, usually made later on in a game, speedrunners actually need to eat more of this type of food because they don’t eat it in their runs.

- there are three types of death, death, perma death and The Endless Sleep. Regular death is simple, the player dies and wakes up where they last slept. Perma death is slightly trickier, a code mechanic that sends players back to the world hub and destroys their world, thus creating hardcore mode. And then There’s The Endless Sleep which is incredibly uncommon and under researched, it’s when a player disappears one day and won’t be found again.

- all the members of Hermitcraft are either looking for something or running from something. For some it’s obvious, Joel looking for a challenge and Grian running from the Watchers. But for others they’re both running and looking for something, like StressMonster who was both looking for a place to live in peace and running from faerie hunters.

On that note:

- StressMonster was a half Fae noble in the spring court, thankfully she was out of the castle visiting family when the first attack came. She fought at first but when one of her wings was cut off with an iron blade she fled the Fae Lands. she learned about the player side of her heritage.

- Jimmy remembers the games in stark detail but thinks no one (not even the victors) remember so he’s just kind of holding onto the fear from the games with nowhere to put it.

- a lot of people can be influenced by the lore magic of smp’s after they’ve concluded, usually it’s small such as Lizzie drinking more water after esmp s1, or Cleo being a little more intrested in history after the wc smp to Kristen gaining the magic and status as a fully fledged death goddess after the dsmp

- the birds™️ of Hermitcraft (False, Grian, Pearl) like to annoy Zedaph because he’s (definitely not) worm man

- pearl doesn’t sleep a lot, she still has the watchers in her head, trying to influence her, she’s weaker when asleep and she’s scared that if they break through they’ll terrorize Hermitcraft

- most players have a ‘chat’ that follows them around, Philza’s crowd, Technoblades voices, etc. etc. Zedaphs is a horde of sentient & autonomous worms on strings that follow him around, almost daily he gets packages from other hermits giving him back his worms because they’re just Everywhere

- Joe’s chat are ghosts that he pulled along with himself by accident, Quinn is a poltergeist who decided that yes. That one is good.

- there’s world simulations where players can go to experience the real world, such as the Japan where YHS was held

- A lot of hermits tend to over work themselves, TFC set up one night a week where he expects the hermits to either be in bed asleep or at his base eating a full dinner together. This tradition started in season 2 when he joined and goes on to this day but now without TFC the hermits rotate hosting weekly. There’s always a candle lit in TFC’s honour at these dinners.

so, you heard about a silly little server called lifesteal. maybe u wanna try watching it. well what if i told u that we here at lifestealblr have put together a helpful guide to help you succumb to the poisons start watching the server?? join us we are very normal

so! lifesteal! first, a summary. lifesteal is a server where when u die, you lose a heart off your permanent health bar. when you kill another player you gain a heart. heres a list to sum it up:

dying loses you a heart

killing someone else gains you a heart

losing all your hearts = dead and gone from the series, unless youre revived

you can revive dead players through gay sex crafting a special item

you can withdraw hearts from your healthbar and give them to other players

still have questions? heres a better explanation. ok moving on

lifesteal smp has FOUR seperate seasons so far!! the players are the same, give or take a few people. so, where to start?

first, you don't need to watch the seasons in order. you don't need to know anything about previous seasons to watch lifesteal. start with whatever season you want!! that being said, i'd advise starting on season three or season four (the current season) as they are the most popular.

So for those unaware, dasnerth is apparently banned from Karl & MrBeast challenge, accord to the discord message he showed today (1/29/2024), (which notably is from 8/30/2023)

basically, as it stands, almost all the "content" you provide by being in a video almost always gets cut out because you're generally pretty toxic, you take the gameplay extremely seriously which makes your time on-screen inherently destructive / toxic. If you are genuinely super interested in not being blacklisted, if you could just refrain from being toxic we can lift the blacklist. It would also mean reporting any exploits instead of abusing them.

A message he published himself, claiming he was only being competitive.

I've seen in response, certain people claiming that this is unfair, that he needs to be defended, or that this will inevitably lead towards toxicity towards people like Sapnap/Punz/Hannah.

This is not true, and I think people need to understand that there is a line between being competitive and being toxic to be around and effectively unwatchable and making others uncomfortable.

First, take note for a moment that Dasnerth has been banned for well over 5 months, and despite being very clearly and flatly told he's unwelcome, he's not only still stalking the discord to try to join stuff, but also then turned to twitter to kick up a fuss about the ban still being enforced.

This is pretty telling of him as a person. He's clearly been told that he's blacklisted and unwelcome, and five months later he's still trying to sneak in. That is a very clear indication of failing to respect boundaries, feeling entitled to participate in contests, and being unable to take no for an answer.

Putting that aside though, you can still clearly draw lines between taking competition seriously and being a toxic asshole in a game. I think a really good example of this is actually, weirdly enough, 5up's lobbies.

If you don't know 5up, he's a guy who plays among us. When he was starting out, he often played with what were called "sweat lobbies". These lobbies often devolved into yelling, shouting, insults, etc. 5up was noteworthy for generally not falling to that level. You can watch how awful of a viewing experience this is here. These lobbies are very competitive, and also suck so bad 5up left despite generally being willing to tolerate a lot of bullshit.

Contrast this to his later lobby that he built with Hafu, a very experienced streamer with a much calmer vibe. The morning lobbies that they built are known for being relatively serious and competitive, but not being toxic messes. Here's a good example, In this game 5up played an amazing crewmate much like the XQC, and caught Steve and Tina (Tinakitten) as imposters. Tina's distressed but not angry or being mean, and Steve compliments him on figuring out! It's a complete flip of the above. People sometimes yell and get excited, throw a bit, or get a bit salty, but it's nothing like what you see above with the constant screaming and insults. People from other lobbies that are more chaotic come in and are generally surprised by how seriously they take stuff.

To go even further, 5up also plays in the stell lobbies, which are very competitive and take the game very seriously. Listen to a meeting in the stell lobbies. Nobody is yelling, even when directly accused. They all remain calm and polite. They're still playing the game very seriously, they're playing to win, but nobody's being toxic or mean.

There's a difference between being competitive in a fun way, where you take a game seriously and try to win, and just being an asshole and disregarding good sportsmanship. It's perfectly valid for contests to ban players for violating good sportsmanship and abusing exploits. Technoblade was a very competitive person, but even when he's being teasingly toxic to squidkid for example, it's clearly in good fun. The two of them became friends. There's a fundamental level of respect there, and nobody is going over the top.

So yeah, while we don't have the specific behavior cited, it's perfectly valid for an event to ban someone for being toxic, and no, banning someone for being toxic isn't bait or eliminating competitiveness. It's just showing an asshole the door.

It has been a while since I started digital art,

Quite a while.

So here is a 'progress over the last two years' since I gained access to a drawing tablet.

This is my first ever digitally illustrated piece- compared to my latest one-

So, a little bit different.

I do think my art took quite a jump around June 2022, when I took a break from my Steve comic strip, (for obvious reasons- it was about Technoblade's polar bear so...) and decided to try practicing gesture drawing to see if it helped my general anatomy knowledge. This is before,

And this next one is after.

The most obvious change here is that I switched to using thinner lines. There is a gap of about two months between these.

This was when I realised that you could improve art by practicing it (mind-blowing I know), and then started to do just that. Some other notable jumps forward would be when I discovered the airbrush-

Well, discovered a new method of shading with it anyway.

Then after that I had a few pictures that I actually still like, despite them being pretty old at this point, the one below is actually from September of 2022-

I mean, the hands are a bit iffy, but the rest looks alright. This was when I was going through a bit of a melanie martinez phase-

This next one was from January of 2023, I'd only just gotten into bungou stray dogs via some random memes on pinterest about this weird brown haired guy who had lots of bandages and who had this running gag with wanting to die- I actually looked him up at one point, but that didn't really explain much. The main one that I remember was 'life is short, so make it shorter, shorter than chuuya~'

Which at the time was just kind of confusing,

Then I watched the show and it made perfect sense.

I'd discovered ascendance of a bookworm in like, 2021, but I hadn't really been doing fanart of it since I was mainly doing dsmp related stuff and I kind of assumed nobody would know what on earth I was referencing. Turns out tumblr has a lot more bookworm fans than I orignally anticipated. Instagram still has no clue. I think maybe one person out of my followers on instagram knows what I'm on about-

Then we've got these two which I am still proud of btw-

The first one is from a dystopian/time travel fanfic called viridian.

The second one was after I learned about rim lighting. It was inspired by a song actually, 'crash' by noevaii. (and yes I found that song from a sad-ist animatic, it was cool) The character isn't anyone in particular. They're both from February 2023.

Then there's probably my most liked picture on instagram, (not tumblr, since tumblr knows about bsd and bookworm, but y'know. This was even sadder than I originally intended since the last half of my comic strip was finished AFTER everything happened)

Then the final conclusion of my Steve comic strip in May of 2023.

I don't think my art really changed much in between those, but eh.

Then I switched to doing a bunch of ascendance of a bookworm stuff to see what would happen and turns out there are way more fellow fans out there than I anticipated-

Then I guess my next breakthrough in tumblr popularity, (even if it might not have been a breakthrough in art skills necessarily) was when things went DOWN in the bsd fandom with chapter 109 and I did probably one of my most liked tumblr posts I have ever done-

I still think it's hilarious that I put in chuuya having contacts. My reasoning being, they're on a film set,

It was a pretty interesting exercise in shading in monochrome.

Then I started a 30 day art challenge in October that I didn't get past day six of, but it was still pretty fun. This is the best one of those-

After that I spent most of my time studying for the jlpt n5, so I didn't really do that much art related stuff,

This is one of the two non-commission related pictures that I finished over the two months after I kind of gave up on the art challenge. This one's from November,

Then I finally finished an art commission I'd been working on for the three months prior, as well as studying. Here is an example of the type of pictures I was doing for that,

Then I was occupied with christmas and birthday presents for my siblings, both my little sisters are into ascendance of a bookworm- (completely my fault I am proud to say) so I was able to do stuff related to that, here's a couple of snippets, but you guys don't get the colour version hehe

And one of them has also read the entire fma manga just like I have so-

Anyway, it's been quite a progression since I resolved to master digital art in 2021.

I reckon I've come a fair way since then. I mean. My art skills in general are way better than they used to be. The last two or three years have been pretty interesting.

Dream laughs the entire time. Like how did you get so good, son of b-. You two were friends for YEARS and he always beat you and NOW you come back and haunt him? Oh, it's on.

George never thought you like Minecraft, but then again he was too scared to talk to you in th first place; you guys became friends only because you made the first step. But he's really impressed (especially if you later beat Dream, he gets to laugh at him so it's a win-win for you two)

Sapnap went from being happy to finally be talking to you again to wishing you were hit by a plane in that moment. "How did you get so good? You're cheating. I don't believe you."

Honestly, Bad is just happy to see you. He gets a bit frustrated, but other then that he is happy to se you again

Oh, you know troll Skeppy is gonna try everything to make you lose. He'll give you the "Technoblade" treatment and try everything in his power to kill you, even cheat. It never works, but he likes the challenge

*insert every spanish insult ever* Quackity can admit to not being that GREAT at pvp, but being beaten by you? Who started playing just a few months ago? Absolutely false. There has to be a glitch in the game, impossible.

Every time you killed Karl you received a shriek from him. He was SO sure he could beat you, but nothing. Don't get him wrong, he was so happy to talk to you, but when did you become this good?

You're the introvert friend Wilbur had randomly adopted in school. And to see you now all confident and cocky at pvp made him surprised but also very proud of you

It's hard to find a match for Techno. Other then Dream, no one could go head to head with him. So imagine how surprised he was when his old friend worked so hard just so he could be at the same level has him, if not better

Niki in the past would always tell you that you could do anything you put ypur mind to; at the time you dirsregarded that comment has her just being a friend, but you kept that to your heart. She is very proud of how good you've become and sometimes even asks for advices

I didn't do all of them cause I feel like I was just repeating words, sorry T^T
