Stretch It Out: A Break for Body and Mind
Why Stretching Matters:
Whether you've been sitting at a desk for hours or just woke up, stretching is a simple yet effective way to relieve tension, increase flexibility, and promote overall well-being.
Try These Simple Stretches:
Neck Stretch: Gently tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder. Hold for 15-30 seconds on each side.
Shoulder Roll: Roll your shoulders backward in a circular motion for 15-30 seconds, then reverse direction.
Forward Fold: Stand with feet hip-width apart, bend at the waist, and let your upper body hang forward. Hold for 20-30 seconds.
Child's Pose: Kneel on the floor, sit back on your heels, and extend your arms forward. Relax in this gentle stretch for 30 seconds.
Quad Stretch: Stand on one leg, bend the other knee, and gently pull your foot towards your glutes. Hold for 15-30 seconds on each leg.
Seated Spinal Twist: Sit with your legs extended, bend one knee, and cross it over the other leg. Twist your upper body in the opposite direction. Hold for 20-30 seconds on each side.
Incorporate Stretching into Your Day:
Take short stretching breaks throughout the day, especially if you have a desk job.
Consider starting or ending your day with a gentle stretching routine.
Combine stretching with deep breathing for a relaxing mini-meditation session.

Do you stretch before you head out on a long trip? 🛶 This week we gathered for a final celebration for my father in law, who has finished his journey to be with his ancestors. It was a celebration of love and memories, sad and happy tears and many hugs. 🛶 We were blessed to stay with friends, relatives and then both at Nibezen, a cultural healing center located on sacred Wabanaki land along the Penobscot River ⭕️ Instead of feeling exhausted and sad, we all feel loved and connected.🙏Before we left I took 5 minutes to flow and breathe and thank this place. woliwon and until we meet again🙏This song is by Sukulis, a Penobscot band my niece was a member of. I got to try out a fun, NEW workout today created by one of my favourite fitness trainer and I totally loved it😍😍💕! It's a special one day sneak into our newest program called "80 Day Obsession" but anyone can access it !! Heads up Fit Family !! It was a total body workout with emphasis on the core, that used weights and infinite bands that I didn't have but I didn't care, I just did it anyways ! I remember blaming my job from all my body aches and pains as I sat at my desk for 8 - 10 hours a day working! As I grew older and gained more knowledge about the body and how we must move more and do more as we get older, I came to realize my lack of posture and lack of stretching the important areas on my body daily. Especially as we age, flexibility takes on an important role in health and fitness. It helps prevent stiffness and shortening of muscles that can lead to pain and injuries in older adults! I recommend static stretching daily to the point of discomfort 30- 60 seconds for all major muscle groups and joints. In time you'll improve your flexibility and range of motion.
