Finally finished after a week of sewing this collar almost entirely by hand...it's finished and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
All the outer fabric is antique scraps of polished cotton, satin, and patterned cotton all dating from the 1880s-1910. The lace embellishments, appliques, ribbons and lace trim are also antique. The buttons and embroidery floss used are vintage. The lining is scrap black cotton.
It will be listed to the shop ASAP.

Carved Pet Rock (Rock Spirit)
A low maintenance pet I’ve always wanted. A stone sentry spirit to have around my houseplants guarding them from my brown thumb. Maybe I will remember to water my plants more with it around quietly judging.
Inspired by a combination the rock from Over the Garden Wall, Kodama tree spirits from Princess Mononoke, and ancient stone sculptures in nature like Orcus’ mouth in Gardens of Bomarzo.

Things you need: a rock, rotary tool, diamond rotary bit, water.
1) Pick the perfect rock. Sedimentary rock is the kind I picked. It came broken in half so it is likely softer than granite or milky quartz.
2) Draw your pet face on the rock with an oil based marker like Sharpie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) Wet the rock, and try to keep the working surface wet throughout.
4) Pick the right size diamond bit for your eyes.
5) Start slowly drilling on the lines of the eyes. You can opt to not have pupils. In that case you will need a bigger size bit.
Tumblr media
6) Drill the mouth with a bigger size bit.
7) Optional, let your pet bless your new pet.
Tumblr media
8) Clean the crevasses with moist paper towels.
9) Your new pet rock is born. Place it with your houseplants or in your garden, or enjoy it as home decor.
Tumblr media
Tips:
Different rock type will vary in hardness. You may need to test a few to see which drills best.
If you have long hair, tie it up before you start.
If you are working over a sink, avoid scratching the sink with the rock or the diamond bit.
Water helps cooling the bit as it drills and keeping air particles down, but it’s best to wear an N95 mask.
Make sure the bit is straight and not bent.
Try to keep the bit at the same angle perpendicular to the vertical axis of the rock.
Go slow and light. Once there is a groove it is less likely your rotary tool will jump off track.

This is a little buddy I got from the spooky craft fair I went to today. The guy who made him named him Weeping Man, but I prefer Confetti. There's something so neat about a scary monster with a cotton candy color palette XD. Don't worry, he's a good boy.

New paper puppet on my Etsy shop:
This is Krampus, the goat-like demon of Germanic tradition who arrives with Saint Nicholas during the Christmas season. While St. Nick rewards the well-behaved children with gifts, its the role of Krampus to punish misbehaving children. My version of Krampus -- while no less grotesque and fearsome than that of the traditional folkloric demon -- comes elegantly dressed in a black damask-patterned vest, charcoal grey britches, red waistcoat and matching cravat because even a punishing monster wishes to look his best on Christmas.
Final size of puppet once assembled: 10" H x 5.5" W.
Available as a download or a DIY printed puppet kit with paper fasteners included that ships right to your door. Visit my Etsy shop: https://papercutpuppets.etsy.com

How to make your own Scrying Mirror
Tumblr media
Black scrying mirrors are used for divination. You put yourself in a meditative state and stare at the mirror in the dark with very little light and after a while you see images in it.
It is reccomended to not let anything reflect in the mirror while scrying because pure blackness will produce better images.
Some form of scrying involve looking at yourself in the mirror and watching your face shift into other peopls faces but I only recommend that if you feel safe doing it.
You can find out plenty of info on scrying online.
After your scrying session you interpret the things you saw and find their meanings.
You can look up the symbolism of things you saw or associate your own meanings to them if that feels more right.
People use scrying mirrors to speak with their spirit guides, the dead, or deities to help them tell the future or ask them any questions.
If you are an atheist or if you do not believe in spirits, It's still a really fun meditative exercise, and a fun spooky craft project!
What you'll need:
• A picture frame
• black acrylic paint
• A large paintbrush
Cheapest way to get a scrying mirror is to just use your phone screen, but you can also take a picture frame, paint one side of the glass, and paint the backing of the frame that will be up against the glass with black acrylic paint.
Paint a few thick layers on the glass, and after it all dries place the glass back into the frame, UNPAINTED SIDE FACING FORWARD, the unpainted side is the reflective side, the painted side will not be shiny and reflective. Put the back on, clean the glass and boom, you have a pretty black mirror.
YOU CANNOT PAINT A MIRROR BLACK, it will not be reflective. However if you're like me and want to use a mirror frame, you can, you just need to get a glass pane that'll fit in the mirror frame.
Have fun telling the future and seeing images through the void!

Hi guys. I have started my projects for this Year's Halloween. I am making bags and toys for everyone to celebrate the spooky season. I know it is a little early to start posting stuff like this, but I do enjoy making these. If anyone has some ideas on what type of drawstring bags and toys I can make, that would be very helpful.
Thanks!
