Charlotte and George are my new favorite couple.

Y'all, I was bawling at final closing scene (last episode) of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. It probably hit me so hard as a married woman who hopes to grow old with my husband, but OMG. There's really nothing more romantic and comforting than a love-filled, enduring marriage. As enjoyable as the Bridgerton children are, none of them could possibly live up to Charlotte and George. My heart hurts from the feels I get thinking about their love story, especially with the knowledge that it was based on a real-life royal couple. (Same reason I adore their descendants, Victoria and Albert.)

Tolkien side note:

The good news is, this has rekindled my interest in picking back up my writings for my personal OTP, Thranduil and (Elvenqueen) Maereth--another royal married couple who grew old together, while thriving through many hardships due to the strength and depth of their loyalty and passion for each other. Chills.

Unfortunately, it's become obvious to me that my Thranduil x Maereth or Thranduilion writings get much less support/feedback than my works featuring other canon characters. But well... that's the price most of us writers have to pay for our passion projects!

Do you have any fic recs? :D

I recently got back into LOTR, and whenever I get into a fandom, fics are my favorite content to consume! But I'm having a bit of trouble finding anything, especially having to do with Boromir and Faramir, but I figured you must have some recommendations!! :D

20 Questions for Fic Writers

1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 36

2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 2,583,909 (just about everything i write tends to go novel length and when my muse cooperates, look out!)

3. What fandoms do you write for? Tolkien - The Hobbit and LOTR, and most of the characters played by Richard Armitage.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? After the Fire, More Than Meets the Eye, Brilliant Disguise, Where I Belong, In This Moment

5. Do you respond to comments? Almost always. It might take me a while, but I try to respond to every one.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? That would be The River which was a short piece of about 3k words that takes place right before Thorin starts out for the Shire and the Quest to retake Erebor.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Pretty much everything else (Where I Belong is more bittersweet than flat out happy). I write romance and one of the hard and fast rules is an ending that is either happy or happy for now. And I am an absolute sucker for a happy ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not so much hate, but useless criticism (and yes, unless a writer has specifically asked for a critique, criticism is useless so save yourself the time and trouble and don't bother with it. Don't like something, don't agree with it? Write your own story how you want it. I'm not even nice about that any more.)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Sure. I write steamy in general, but Good Trouble, The Chance You Take, Playing with Fire, Damaged Goods, Miss Fortune, Seven Days, and Better Days are the smuttier of my fics.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I've written crossovers for Richard Armitage characters - Guy of Gisborne/John Porter

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I doubt my fics are good enough for anyone to steal, so I'm thinking no.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I'd be very surprised if I have.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, and I don't know that I'd be able to do it, either. I'm far too set in my ways and doing things the way *I* think they should be done and telling the story the way *I* see it.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Thorin x OFC

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I don't have any. I almost never orphan a story. It might take me literally years to finish it, but it will be finished.

16. What are your writing strengths? I write fast and clean (meaning my edits/revisions are usually minimal) and judging by a lot of the comments I receive, I write very good and natural dialogue

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I sometimes have trouble slowing action down, as I usually want to get right to the meat of the story. I also can't always translate the images in my mind to the words on the page.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I write using other languages sparingly - usually just enough to give the reader a feel for the character. It's too easy to fall into linguistic stereotypes otherwise.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Marvel. Loki, specifically.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? This one is a three-way tie between More Than Meets the Eye, After the Fire, and Something in the Night, (my current WIP) because all three have heroines who are very unique - Arielle is not only trying to pass herself off as her twin brother, but she rambles when she's nervous, Jasna is a medical student who stutters, and Nina is a bounty hunter seeking revenge against a certain dwarf king. All three were and are fun to write.

Better late than never with this one! <3 I remain woefully behind on my reading, and I am SO sorry for that, writing fanfic and reading fanfic are often very hard for me to do simultaneously (focus issues), but I always love recommending the few things I've read and loved.

SotWK 3 Fic Recommendations: Multi-Chapter, Canon x OC Picks

Dwalin Has a Bad Day (Dwalin x OC) by @lathalea - I know there are Dwalin lovers out there--this fluffy rom-com is a MUST read for you! Apart from the (always) amazing writing, colorful worldbuilding, loveable OCs, and innovative headcanon concepts ("dwelf"!) abound. When it comes to Dwarves, Latha is one of my go-to experts.

A Shooting Star (Thorin x OC) by @linasofia - This is one of the few fics I had the privilege of following all the way through as it was being written, and that says a lot since that means it utterly captivated my pitiful attention span. Lina writes Thorin sooooo well, in the gorgeous manner Richard Armitage portrayed him, and that is what I love in my Thorin fics. Very lovely OC that you would absolutely cheer for, and you are treated to life in Erebor after its reclamation! (Dude, Thorin is alive, where have you been??)

Burn Like Cold Iron (Boromir x OC) by @scyllas-revenge - I almost feel silly putting this on a rec list because this fic is legend in the Boromir fandom. (Like, hi, hello, have you heard of this movie called "Star Wars"? It's kind of walking up to someone and asking them that.) I love fics that draw me in despite not falling into my usual preferences (Modern Girl OC in this case), and this defines that. Scylla also nails a fluffy, genuinely funny brand of humor that I have yet to see matched by any other writer, so if you like that sort of thing, browse her entire masterlist while you're at it. This fic has its own fandom, so if you don't want to take my word for it, take the word of all those other admirers!

A question from @wareagleofthemountain and while it’s in the same vein as the last one, out of an abundance of caution, I wanted to keep them separate due to possible ED triggers:

Given Haldir’s love of cooking, what is his favorite thing to bake?

I hc that Haldir's best and most relaxing thing to bake is bread due to the time and kneading it takes to make. I've always hc'ed it as an anomaly that, at least in Noldorin elvish society - particularly noble culture - men make the bread (this is based on the idea that women make lembas and it could easily be extended to all breads as a woman/feminine IDing craft). I personally hc that there are some societal holdovers in Lothlórien that are specifically Noldorin due to Galadriel and those who likely stayed with her, despite her marriage to Celeborn and the predominantly Sindar and Silvan population they oversee.

Haldir's baking of bread reminds him of his (now deceased outside of his brothers) family and is often seen as an extension of his love and care for those in his life.

(He has a guilty pleasure for lemon custards and creams and absolutely adores citrus season for all the lemon tarts he gets to make. They're a very hot commodity and in low-citrus years, can often be used to barter and secure favors for those who managed to snag a batch. In the Haldir x OFC universe, he started making them for her and things quickly spiraled out of control.)

...and how would he react if his partner had a bad habit of skipping meals when stressed?

I think it really depends on why his partner is skipping meals (eg do they forget or does it make them nauseous when they eat due to the stress?). In the first case, I think he'd have a tendency to bake or cook extra and make sure there are snacks around. I can see him just dropping by during their workday if he's home and dropping off lunch or swinging by their desk and putting a bowl of dried nuts or a pastry or chopped fruit by their hand. When he's not home, he'd prepare what he could in advance and request that his brothers stop by for meals as often as they can (along with any mutual friends of theirs).

In the latter, I think he'd make something simple like toast a very light soup just so his partner is getting some nutrients in their system even if they can't physically eat. He's definitely a worrier so I can see him pulling his partner into his arms and trying to help them mitigate the stress first so they could actually eat.

So, my late mom loved Christmas nutcrackers. Like. *loved* them. When she passed, she left behind a collection of around 40 of them and since I love the nutcrackers, too, I picked my favorite out of the bunch and decided to use it as still life practice...on wrapping paper again lol.

This one happens to be one of the oldest ones in the collection and is pretty beat up (as you can tell by the missing feet), but he's still going strong and has a charm about him~ As you can see, I nearly got the drawing the exact same size as the real thing~
