A/N I loved that you guys loved the first one! I went through a few different ideas / endings for this one and I think I'm happy with the outcome! warning it is a long one so strap in!

That night at Harrys apartment felt like a life time ago. The breakup wasn’t messy as neither of us addressed it really, I archived all of my posts of him and he had done the same for me and that was about it. It didn’t take the fans to catch on but what can you expect, they know more about me than I do. it had been almost 6 months to the date, not that I was counting or anything but I honestly felt like Harry was my soulmate at the time. Oh how love can blind you. 

The past few months I had submerged myself into my channel and my fans. I had done an array of meet and greets and was interacting more with them, and honestly my love for YouTube was restored and I felt like a whole new person. I had had a full make over and due to this my channel had grown immensely and I had hit 50 million subscribers, a huge achievement which I never though would happen. it was amazing to see the amount of support I was gaining from my fans and how much I had grown, from a naive teenager to a young adult. I had received an overwhelming amount of support from my friends. When Harry and I broke up they tried not to take sides but It was evident that that couldn’t last forever and I was ok with that. 

I had just finished a meeting with my manager at her office. With my new look and attitude brands seemed to swarm at me and I was gaining so many new opportunities it was kind of crazy. It was like I was a completely different person and it seemed to be working in furthering my career. I got in my Uber and made my way to my new apartment, after the break up I felt like starting a new was best and so I moved into my new multi million apartment in knightsbridge. It was nice to be in an area by myself as it meant that I had more privacy and was able to truly live my best single life. Plus a tour of new apartment left many of my friends in awe, and honestly I loved that I could show off all my hard work. 

I thanked my Uber driver and made my way to my apartment, once inside I collapsed on my sofa and kicked off my heels, which I was still getting used to in all honesty. Having changed from living in baggy jumpers and old trainers was a bit of a shock but I loved wearing my more out there wardrobe, with tighter clothes and higher heels, my makeup always done to perfection, I always felt like people had their eye on me and I felt amazing.  My change in personality and look hadn’t gone unnoticed either, although they didn’t say anything I could tell my friends liked my new attitude, after wallowing in self pity for a few months I think they’re happy that I’m back and stronger than what I was before. 

I still thought about Harry from time to time. How I not so secretly still had one of his jumpers and when I was alone id wear it, just to feel his embrace once more. When we had initially broken up it took him less than two days to send Freezy round my apartment to drop off my box of things and to request his stuff back. I know Freezy felt bad but what choice did he have if Harry wanted to erase me from his life then so be it. More fool him, I had grown so much and if he was truly clout chasing then he should’ve stuck around a little longer. 

I woke up to my doorbell ringing. I must’ve fallen asleep on the sofa. I stretched a little when the doorbell kept ringing. “Jeez I’m coming” I mumbled to myself. I pressed the array of buttons for who ever it was to get through the front gate and after a few minutes I opened the door to reveal Talia. “Have you been sleeping?” She giggled at me as she walked into my apartment, propping herself up on one of my breakfast stools. “Hmm, oh yh, busy day” I laughed closing the door and standing the other side of the breakfast bar looking up at her. 

“Soooooo” I edged her to start talking. “Oh right sorry, your release party, Simon was pestering me to ask you if a certain arsehole could come?” She said the last part in a sheepish tone. Fuck, my release party I completely forgot, I had had so much on my plate that I forgot I was opening a club and releasing my own line of spirits. I stood up looking at Talia with a confused look “why the hell would I invite my ex to my release party?”. I reached up and grabbed two wine glasses pouring us each a glass of rosé. Passing over a glass to Talia as she pondered her reply. “Honestly I said the same but apparently all the lads feel bad as everyone we know is invited except for him” she swirled her glass of wine and took a sip as I copied her mentioned. In all fairness it was rude that I invited everyone but him, plus it was going to be the event to beat, and I had a few spaces on the guest list. “T, I don’t know” I shrugged at her sighing. “If I was you id tell him to stick it where-“ Talia started before I cut her off “I know, I know, it does seem a little harsh, I have invited so many people and, well, you know what fuck it, I’ll get my manager to add him to the list if you let him know” I decided. Talia looked gobsmacked, I had never seen her this speechless in our lives. “Are you sure, he’s a dick like you really don’t have to” she said cocking an eyebrow at me. “Look its not fair, plus there’s going to be hundreds of people there and the likelihood of us actually interacting are practically 0” I stated. Which was true, there was going to be just about the whole British YouTube community there, as well as some celebrities and journalists, and I would have my team around me at all times so the chance of him even getting near me is slim. 

That night Talia and I had gotten wasted, watching movies and just have a nice little girly night. However, right now I was shaking in my heels. My hair and makeup had been done to perfection and I was in a body hugging dress which showed off all of my curves perfectly. I looked almost like a model that’s how good I looked. I of Course was going to be the last to arrive at the venue, I needed everyone to be chatting with flutes of complimentary champagne when I entered so all attention was on me, as conceited as this sounds my publicists and manager had worked months for this to run as perfect as possible. I arrived at the venue and I could hear the music from outside “you ready?” My manager, Lucy asked. I nodded my head and made my way through the back entrance. I stood behind the stage door with a mic in one hand and a bottle of my own vodka in another. “Deep breaths, you’ll smash it” Lucy smiled at me, I just nodded and plastered on a smile, I heard the music die down a little and the door opened and I made my way on stage. An eruption of applause and cheering began from my friends and guests. I smiled taking it all in for a moment before I raised the mic to my mouth. 

“Thank you all so much for being here today and supporting me in my new business venture. If you would have told me a year ago that this is where I would be I would have laughed. These past few months I’ve grown more than I ever have, my channel, my business and more importantly myself. I can’t thank you all enough for the continuous love and support, without you guys or my fans I wouldn’t be where I am today. So id like you to all enjoy a complimentary glass of my new Vodka and enjoy yourselves. Because tonight is about friends and loved ones. So let’s get wasted!!!” I recited my speech cheering at the end. I got a mass amount of applause and cheers and I smiled looking over the crowd. I could see all my friends together happy, the way it should be and I smiled until I saw him, he actually came. My smile faltered slightly and my breath hitched in my throat. I quickly shook it off and made my way to the stairs, exiting the stage. I was quickly engulfed in a mass of hugs and bodies, people I knew and some I didn’t all congratulating me. 

I had done it I had made it and all on my own. 

After about half an hour I made it over to my closest group of friends. They all cheered when I went over and I did a mock curtsey, careful not to reveal too much. I got handed a glass of something and started polite conversation. “We’re all so proud of you” Gee gushed “you’ve done so well I can’t believe that you are basically the most sought after name at the moment” freya added. “ I couldn’t have done it without you guys” I smiled. “Oh shut up little miss humble” Ethan who had clearly had a bit much to drink already. “You’re  the queen of UK YouTube, you have your own empire going and you built it all yourself” he grinned at me before smothering me in a hug. “You need to be in more of our vids then maybe we’d be doing just as well as you” Simon commented earning a laugh from the group. “Here’s to Y/N the baddest bitch I know” Talia toasted and everyone joined in. I smiled as we fell into polite chatter. “I’m just nipping outside” I informed my friends smiling at them before making my way to the balcony. I leant over the edge and smiled, nothing could ruin my life right now. I thought to myself. That was until I heard footsteps approach me from behind and the body heat of someone I could recognise in an instant next to me. “Before you say anything I’m here to congratulate you” Harry said. I kept my gaze forward, not wanted tears that I didn’t know still existed for him to spill. “I’m so proud of you, honestly I am, so are my family, they miss you, I miss you” I turned my body and met Harrys gaze. I studied his face, he had bags under his eyes and the usual scruff on his beard was longer than he usually kept it, his hair was also scruffy, not scruffy like usual but tangled and unkept. He was wearing smart trousers and a nice button up shirt, no blazer, Harry hated formal clothes. “Thank you” was all I was able to say as I smiled at him. “You know, with every day that goes by someone reminds me how I fucked up and should have kept a death grip on you, that you were the best part of me and now I’m just some boring kid who plays Fifa” I half chuckled at the end. I felt sorry for him, it seemed that I had grown and succeeded and that Harry had stayed stagnant in his life. “Harry, I, I don’t know what you want me to say” I looked at him with sorry eyes, I think maybe I still loved him, but I had been doing so well without him I just I didn’t know whether I wanted to kiss him or kill him. “No I, I get that, I was a dick. I was in a rut and I took it out on you. And well honestly seeing you do so well without me just shows how I was holding you back. I’m proud of you, I’m happy for you, honestly I am bear, sorry Y/N” we had made eye contact at this point. So many memories came flooding back to me. Our first kiss, our first date, the nights we spent talking about what we wanted to name our children, and how we wanted to have a house in Guernsey and one in London. How we were going to grow old together and never let the other go. 

I broke my gaze when I heard Lucy call my name. I took a deep breath. “I loved you harry, with all my heart, with all my being and I was willing to stay and love you no matter what. I think I still do love you. But right now I need to focus on me, my empire has only just started and I don’t want us to back peddle. The only way for me is forward no mater if you’re there with me or not.” I spilled my heart out to Harry before I heard Lucy call me name again. “Sorry” was all I could say before I headed back inside. I wiped a stray tear from my eye and took one last look at harry, I had left him so broken. But now was time to put me first Y/N is number one in my life and as much as I wanted to fall back into my old self I couldn’t. I had made promises and shown that after heartbreak you can build and make yourself stronger than before. And I was not about to throw it all away.

-This is a little bit of a different experience for him at first. He might be a little put off from it if you’re the first one to make all the moves. He probably doesn’t want to be smothered 24/7 by your obsessed ass but when you let him take the reigns, it takes on a whole new meaning/feeling for him.

-In the first case of it, he would probably feel overwhelmed and grossed out. Honestly he’d feel downright aggravated. Imagine trying to work or live your life when someone is fallowing you around while assuming you don’t notice them. Or when your stuff comes up missing one by one. Or maybe when you keep getting a bunch of love notes everywhere. You’re annoying as hell to him in this case. Essentially the relationship is a yandere and a tsundere…do that math lol.

-But let’s say that he’s noticed you first and decided to pursue you as a romantic partner instead. In the second case of it, things might go over a little better. He likes you around and he doesn’t have to worry about you thinking of others when all your attention and affections are trained on him. He thinks of you as ‘his’ and no one else. He’s actually the first one to threaten killing anyone that tries to get between you whether than the other way around. It starts to seem like he’s more of a yandere than you are!

-Things could turn toxic VERY quickly if you were the type of yandere that ‘loves him so much that you can’t take it, and you want to kill him’ yknow? He’s of course not going to let this happen. His guard gets up and he ends up being the one to lock you away and give you a stern type of treatment. If you behave yourself then maybe you’ll get to spend some time with you. He doesn’t want to treat you like a prisoner, but he also values his life. So you had better try your best to push those ‘murder my lover’ feelings to the back of your mind.

-Both of you end up having jealousy that is off the damn charts. It’s almost ALWAYS deadly and results in the third party getting threatened, maimed, or killed in the process.

Soooooo, I’m going to answer this as two different questions, because that’s what you (unwittingly) asked. If you’re a person who reads and re-reads your favorite fanfic or original fic or Mandalorian meets the Hobbit gang and they all wind up backstage at a Harry Styles concert doing jello shots with Hozier fic or Monster Romance stuff, and you’re wondering how you can better support the creator of your favorite work, YOWZERS have I got great news for you!

...you just did it! You saw my post, clicked my inbox, and sent me a message. It’s really that easy. Do it on anon, do it in the comment section of AO3, shout your name loud and proud if you want, write an epic mutlti-paragraph review or just a keyboard smash. Send a little note saying “I love this.” That’s it! That’s all it takes!

(My normal caveats attach, as always: don’t do things that make you uncomfortable, take care of your own mental health, etc etc infinity. If you don’t have the emotional energy to leave a comment, take care of yourself. I am, however, going to verrrrry gently remind you that the person who created the thing you love so much has their own well of emotional well-being to keep up. Creation comes at a cost, and if they’re not in a position to refill that depleted well on their own, they’re going to be hoping for an outside bucketful. If those buckets dry up, the creative well may run dry.)

The comment culture on sites like AO3 and its ilk can really run a writer down. It’s very easy for people to become addicted to that sweet, sweet validation, and watching your hits climb and the kudos and comments remain stagnant can be gutting. I totally get that sometimes you just want to scroll to your favorite hurt/comfort fic and indulge without feeling like you need to write some effusive praise. That’s fine. Enjoy the content however you want, however you’re able. But if you can, send the creator a message or leave a comment when you’re feeling up to it.

When I reblog posts like the one to which you responded, I’m doing it to pay it forward to my fellow writers who ARE posting on comment-driven sites like AO3 and FFN. I was there once, and I get the frustration that can come with watching your hit count go up and your comments stay empty. I sound like a broken record, but: support the things you love, in whatever way you’re able. Leave a kudos, leave a comment (any comment!) reblog, send a message...lots of ways to show support!

Now...if you’re asking to support *me* personally? I don’t post my work on sites other than my Tumblr and now Patreon. I don’t really care if you guys leave comments on my work. If you do – wonderful! But it’s not something I’m losing sleep over or staying up until the wee hours of night to obsessively read and re-read. (I do check out the tags on reblogs because sometimes you guys are fucking hilarious.)

Honestly, the best way you can support *me* right now is simply by following me on other channels and signing up for my publication alerts. Y/n reads the comments of a video her and Colby filmed recently and due to the amount of hate, she deals with it in her own way. When she wears a hoodie the next day in the LA heat, Jake and Corey get a little suspicious.

“I’m gonna beat you, Jake!” Corey shouted as his big brown eyes fixated on the TV screen.

“You wish,” Jake scoffed. I watched the two play Rocket League from the other side of the couch. A light giggle escaped my lips in response to their competitive banter. We all three stared at the screen as we watched their cars drive around, trying to get the ball in the goal. As I gazed at the game, my mind began to zone out, thinking of what I did last night.

“Okay, love you! Bye!” I say to Colby before pressing the red button to end our phone call. I press the home button to return to the main screen and hesitate for a second before inevitably tapping on the red app with a white play button to open YouTube. Colby and I made a video to announce to his subscribers that we are in a relationship. He felt after being together for nine months that now was a good time to tell them. I have been refraining from looking at what everyone was saying for the past several days, but I can’t any longer.

I scrolled through my subscriptions until I found Colby Brock and clicked his most recent upload, “Meet My Girlfriend”. I let the video play as I scroll down to the comments. The top ones are very nice and supportive of our relationship. There are a few people that were so happy that Colby finally got a girlfriend. Some were super nice about me, saying they thought I was pretty or cute or nice, something along those lines. Then, I hit some mean ones.

“Why would Colby go out with her? She is so ugly and not funny or anything. She has zero good qualities.”

“I don’t see what Colby sees in her at all”

“Colby can do soooooo much better”

“Really, Colby? Her?”

They got worse and worse as I scrolled down. Tears pricked my eyes as I read each one. It’s like I couldn’t stop once I started.

“She’s so fat and ugly and Colby isn’t at all. Guess opposites really do attract.”

“I’m literally throwing up. She looks so gross.”

“If I were her, I’d kms. I mean look at her.”

Tears stream down my cheeks as I finally shut my phone off. They aren’t wrong. All the thoughts I used to have when I was in high school came back. I am ugly and fat and I don’t deserve anyone, especially Colby. He could do so much better than me.

I got up and headed to my bathroom. I stared back at the sad girl looking at me. Even though I had made a lot of progress, mentally and physically, I still saw the old high school y/n when I looked into the mirror. She was fat and she was ugly. She was undeserving of love. Colby is such a sweet and amazing guy. He’s cute and hot and the fans were right. He can do better than me. I am nothing, but hideous to look at and messed up on the inside.

My hand trembled as it reached down to open the cabinet under the sink and stretched out to grab a small box that I kept hidden at the back. I placed it on the counter, sliding the lid off to see that hated contents that reside inside. I pulled out a blade and it set in what I was doing. I hadn’t done this in years, but here I am, doing it again.

The tears came harder as my mind races with self-insulting thoughts. I glide a blade across my wrist to let the pain go away. I watch as the blood trickles down my arm and falls into the sink. I make a few more slits across the skin on my arm before I wipe the blade clean, placing it back in the box, and putting the lid back on. I turn the sink on and let the water run over my arm to clean it off. I go back to my room and cry myself to sleep that night.

I look down at my arm now. I wore a hoodie so that my cuts wouldn’t be seen, but I was beginning to regret it because it was super hot today and the A/C doesn’t work here.

“Dude, I am so hot!” Corey says dramatically as he looks over to Jake.

“I know. I swear our air conditioning is never going to be fixed.” Jake replies as the two look at me.

“I don’t know how you are wearing that hoodie, y/n. It’s too hot for all that. You should change it to one of Colby’s shirts. You’ll be cooler.” Corey suggests. My eyes widen as I shake my head. I place my hand over my arm, thinking about why I had to wear a hoodie.

“Y/n, you will have a heat stroke in that thing if you don’t take it off. I’ll get you a shirt if you don’t want one of Colby’s or I’m sure Devyn will let you wear one of hers.” Jake says as he looks to Corey and Corey nods.

“Yeah, and Sam probably has some of Kat’s stuff too,” Corey adds.

“No guys, it’s fine. I’m comfortable, I promise.” I say as I look nervously to my hands. The boys look at each other quizzically. They knew something was up. I have to leave.

“I’m going to go to Colby’s room,” I say as I stand and turn to leave.

“No, y/n!” I hear Jake shout and feel him grab my wrist. The wrist I cut last night.

“Ow!” I say loudly as I wince in pain. Jake’s eyes widen when he realized he hurt me, and he let go quickly. I grab my wrist. Damn, that hurt.

“I’m sorry, y/n. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I barely even grabbed you. I don’t get why it hurt you that bad.” Jake says. I watch as the gears turn in his head, trying to figure out why.

“I burnt myself on accident the other day when I was getting something out of the oven.” I lie straight through my teeth. Corey stands up behind Jake suspiciously.

“Y/n show me your wrist,” Corey demands.

“No, it’s a nasty burn. You guys don’t need to see it.” I lie again.

“I think we can handle it,” Jake mentions.

“No,” I say again.

“Y/n, what are you hiding?” Corey pesters.

“Nothing,” I quickly reply.

“It’s obviously something. I bet I can guess what it is you’re hiding, so just show us. We won’t judge you for it.” Corey tells me as he looks deep into my eyes.

“Yeah, y/n, we love you,” Jake adds. I sigh.

“Nothing’s wrong. I’m fine.” I lie once more. I stare out the window, looking at the pool, trying to collect myself so I don’t cry. I feel one of them grab my hand. As I turn my attention to it, Jake’s other hand pulls my sleeve up. Both of them gasp at the sight of the damage I caused last night. When I see them, I start to full-on sob.

“I’m so sorry guys. I read all the com-comments on the vid-video last night and I couldn-coul-co,” My words were separated by sobs then by gasps for air. I couldn’t breathe. Jake wrapped his arms around me to calm me down and brought me to the floor.

“Breathe, y/n. Breathe. Breathe with me.” Jake told me as he inhaled. I inhaled with him and then we exhaled together. We did that repeatedly until I had calmed down to a silent cry. Jake held me and we sat there in each other’s silence.

“Colby’s on the way, y/n. He’ll be here soon.” Corey tells me as he slides his phone into his pocket. I let out a content sigh, knowing he would be here soon.

“I’m going to go change because I’m hot and then, I’ll be right back down here,” I tell the boys as I get up off the floor. I walk up the stairs and into Colby’s room, finding his bright blue Take Chances shirt and slipping it on after I take off my hoodie. I go back downstairs and sit with Jake and Corey to wait for Colby which only lasted for a few minutes. I heard the front door open and I stood up, running into Colby’s arms as I sobbed. He carried me upstairs and we sat on his bed.

“Can I see them?” He asks in my ear and I pull away, nodding. I show him my wrist and watch as sadness washes over his face. He softly runs a finger over the cuts and leans down to kiss them. He leans up and looks at me.

“Why?” He asks me, his voice sounded like he was on the verge of tears. I breathe in deep and exhale before I tell him.

“I read some of the comments on the video, Colby. They don’t like me and think I’m not pretty or skinny enough to be with you and they’re right, Colbs.” I say and he brings his hand up to wipe the tears that have just fallen.

“Don’t you ever say that about yourself, y/n. You are so beautiful and who cares if they don’t like you. I like you.” He tells me and I smile.

“I like you too, Colby,” I whisper as we get closer to each other and our lips finally meet. They are so soft against my own and I am so glad to be with him. I shouldn’t have let what others said about me get to me like that. I have the most amazing man in the world right here and I couldn’t be happier.

I can never write anything short (surprise...) so I’ll just give you a short list here and you can click the read more link and see more of my thoughs on each topic there.

I love cats. Like, for real, they’re the best thing in this whole world.

I love all animals overall, and I am actually a horse groom, I have a the “Vocational Qualification in Horse Care and Management”, specializing in harness racing, and I have worked with horses for over 10 years so far.

As a kid, I was a huge dinosaur nerd and I still love them.

I love comics and I have also drawn comics since I was a kid. I still have all of my old comics saved. Lately I haven’t been drawing even nearly as much and only fanart, tho. Drawing is fun but I simultaneously love and hate it.

Lol it seems I have love for everything but humans :D:D:D:D:D:D I didn’t even realize that before making this list looooooooool XD But yeah, more rambling under the cut :D But thanks for reading, if you end up reading it.

1. I am a teetotaler and I have never even tried alcohol. I also don’t smoke (and never have) and I avoid drugs - so much so that I don’t know if getting ADHD medication would break this “rule” of mine because they are made from the same stuff as one well-known drug...

I think it started as me just being so “lawful” all the time and the legal drinking age in Finland is 18, so I wanted to follow the rules at all times so I didn’t even think about drinking before the age of 18 and I was often very much shocked by other teens who did that, and I also remember being really worried when my best friend started experimenting with alcohol as a teenager. Despite the legal drinking age being 18, basically everyone here still started (and starts?) drinking between the ages of 13 and 15. So at school, from Monday to Wednesday, all that happened was overhearing the drunk stories of other kids. And from Wednesday to Friday, it changed to them discussing their plans for the next weekend. It was like this every week. And I never could wrap my head around it (I spent my weekends at home being happy that I could have free time and play The Sims 2 or something).

Then at some point I guess I just felt like I don’t even need alcohol for having fun and I still haven’t felt like that, and I don’t think I ever will either. When I turned 18, I was super annoyed by everyone because EVERYONE asked me “So you’re turning 18, did you plan on going to a bar?” and I would always answer something like “I don’t even drink (alcohol) so why would I?” and what still annoys me a little is people telling me “That’s good. That’s a good decision, drinking is bad.” and like... if you really think so, why do you drink yourself, then?

2. I love cats. Maybe that is partially visible from my blog too but I really, really love cats, and for decades my favorite animal has been tiger. When I was born, we had already 3 cats in the house and the last one of them died when I was almost 13 (he would have turned 16 that year). Before I moved out at the age of 23, there was not a single day without cats and currently my parents have 4 (plus a dog). I am still dreaming of my own cat but I can’t take one now because animals are not allowed in my flat but whenever I move out of this, I will choose one with pets allowed and I will adopt a cat. Most likely a rescue cat if I can find one, or even two so they can keep each other company. As cute as kittens are, adult cats are also important and need homes.

3. I also love animals overall. I actually like them more than humans (but technically humans are just apes so they’re my least favorite animal, then) and when I was 7-years-old, whenever I was asked about my dream job, I always said or wrote “I don’t know, probably something to do with animals!” And since my teens I have had lots of different ideas for jobs but when I was 25, I graduated as a horse groom. And have been (on-off) working with horses for over 10 years now (currently unemployed). Originally I chose the horse work because I was so pissed by the capitalist system and the thought of an office job or job at a grocery store and such was just... ew, no, never! So I chose horses because if I have to work, then I will do something useful and someone’s gotta take care of the animals too and I love animals, and animal work doesn’t feel like work but more like a lifestyle, so I’ve been basically fooling the system AND myself by that. Sometimes I also dream of the work as a zookeeper.

4. As a kid, I was a huge dinosaur nerd and I still love them (Land Before Time FTW). With my siblings we had a huge collection of dinosaur toys and I also have always loved evolution and genetics, so what we did was to give an individual name for every dinosaur we had. And we knew the species of each of them, and we knew so many facts about them too. Each dino also had their own personality and we even created family trees for them. There were generations of these dinos and we also created this “growing up order” which meant we put them all standing next to each other, usually under my brother’s bed because we had so many of them and they didn’t fit anywhere else lol, from the youngest/smallest to the oldest. And our biggest mission, that never got finished, was “The Big Play” which was us playing that the ancestor parents aka the oldest and biggest of our toys were born and we would play with them and play how they grow older and eventually start having their own kids - who were the next generation in our “growing up order” :D

No wonder why I still love playing The Sims games, especially TS3! (I even have a Finnish simsblog.) Lots of the things I have done and loved as a kid still live so strong in me, they just come out differently than what they did then. Imagination and toys changed to video games, especially The Sims (but I did play video games a lot as a kid too) and my love for genetics and evolution is still really strong.

5. I love comics. My favorite comic book character of all times is Garfield - he’s a cat and I grew up with cats so obviously I fell in love with the Garfield comics too, and I grew up with them as well. My mom subscribed to the Finnish Garfield comic in the early 90s and I have full volumes starting from the year 1994. I also have lots and lots of earlier comics and I always hunt for them from second-hand shops and I don’t have too many of them missing anymore, and I’m really proud of my collection. I also collect Lucky Luke, Rantanplan and Asterix - I have almost all of the (Finnish publications of) Lucky Lukes and Rantanplan.

I have also always loved drawing and I drew my first actual comic when I was 9 or 10 years old. Before that I had been drawing lots of “image series”, one image per paper. I still have all my old comics here in a drawer and I have had so many different characters and majority of them have had endless “plots” aka no plots whatsoever :D Before I actually never drew humans, I started drawing human portraits as fanart when I was 16 and the first human comic characters I drew (also as a fanart) when I was 18 or so. Before that everything was animals of some sort - I have had ants, flies, dogs, cats, birds... even ghosts at some point, and I also created one very simple anthropomorphic creature just so that it was easy to draw and I could concentrate on drawing clothes and hair. Oh my god I loved drawing hairdos to these, and so often I had one female “main character” and I gave her a “growth spurt” where I just drew her in different ages until she was “adult” and I continued telling about her life as an “adult”. Very often these differen phases were literally phases, there were soooooo many different styles each just for one year :D Then at some point I started coming up with actual ideas and plots instead of just drawing whatever I felt like drawing. I still draw comics nowadays, but those are mainly fanart and I haven’t drawn about OC’s in years and currently I have no active ones (except for the “self-comics” about my deep thoughts etc.) and I don’t know how to create new ones, I just have no creativity unless it’s provoked by a fandom thing or when I get a base like The Sims 3 where I don’t have an empty canvas but am given the tools for creating something new.

It might be fun to share some of my old comics here one day but this blog isn’t really an “art blog”, even tho I post some of my drawings occassionally. But let me know if you’d like to see some and maybe I will make a post about that in the future.

What was the last thing you posted on a Instagram? A photo of a plate of corndogs that my dad made me. Welp, I had planned to come up with one of those one-photo-a-day-for-a-year for 2020, but that plan is obviously ruined given the current situation. I tried keeping it up during the quarantine but everything has just been so fucking monotonous I’ve failed to update it since April 4th. Do you consider yourself a nature person? I do. I know I am, but I just haven’t been submerged in a lot of nature-y experiences yet. Like I’ve never legit camped in the middle of nowhere or climbed a mountain before, but I’m always willing to do those kinds of things. What kind of collection would you like to start? Wrestling memorabilia. I’ve always wanted to start collecting DVD sets, figures, and belts, and I hope I get to keep that goal up once I start earning my own money :) What helps you take your mind off your problems? SURVEYS, for suuure. The more problems I have, the more I take lol. YouTube videos also help and it’s my go-to website whenever I’m not feeling perfect. And hugging my dog. Who do you miss, if anyone? Been missing Gabie since March and it’s only gotten worse since.

What do you miss, if anything? Normalcy. I really hate how much I’ve had to adjust and even give up/miss out on because of the virus, like an eventful final semester in college or actually doing on-ground work for my thesis. I miss being stuck in traffic and getting shawarma with Laurice and regularly seeing protests on campus and everything else that came with university life. Do you prefer to live alone or live in a family? I would love to live with a roommate or two – basically, people who have vastly different backgrounds than I do that I could share stories and experiences with. This lockdown has made me realize that I don’t want to live with my family for long; and I feel like I’d eventually lose it if I lived alone so both of your options seem unattractive. What states have you visited, that you remember? None of them. What countries have you visited? China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. What countries do you want to visit? Thailand, Vietnam, India, Turkey, and Morocco. What states would you most like to visit? New York, Illinois, Utah, Colorado, and Alaska. What are five careers you've considered? Throughout my life, I’ve considered beinggggg a pro wrestler, a model, a veterinarian, an astronaut, and an author. Do you use a sunlamp when it's cloudy? No, I’ve never needed one because it’s super bright here 24/7, 365. Even if it’s cloudy you wouldn’t something as bright as a sunlamp. What's your latest discovery? What do you wish your hair looked like? Nothing, I’m happy with it right now. Which family member has your exact smile? Sometimes I’ll resemble my mom, but for the most part I don’t think I share my smile with anybody. Do you still feel anything for the first person you fell in love with? Yep, she’s remained very important to me this whole time. What's one thing you're behind on? Kdramas. Lol I get soooooo lazy when it comes to watching them because every episode is an hour long and I just don’t have the attention span for that. How old were you the first time you loved school? 19, I guess. I hated the culture in my first school and I hated my freshman year in college. It doesn’t really count as hallucinate but once when I was 8, I had a very high fever and I had a nightmare alongside it, so when I woke up to my grandma soaking hot water all over my body to treat my fever I was still in dream-mode and screaming out stuff to her that was within the universe of that dream. Does it annoy you when people share their ignorant opinions online? Sometimes it can be annoying but sometimes it can be entertaining too, just watching their ignorance unfold haha. Do you clean your place often? I wouldn’t say often, but I will tidy up my room occasionally. Do you struggle to get by? Not right now since I’m still dependent on my parents. But the career is super unpredictable and it’s so easy to fall behind in it because so many people are getting into it and are just doing the same thing, so if anything it’s something I wanna do as a side project, and solely for fun. Kevin Moon - Youtube AU

First I just wanna say sorry for taking soooooo long on this, as I haven’t ever done Youtube AU’s before so I kept going on and off for this writing ;; but I was able to finish over half of this just to day, so here you go! :)

It was finally the last day of school before spring break and you hurried back to your dorm to start packing up your stuff

You were on your way to the dorm to pack the rest of your stuff so you can go to your hometown

All your other roommates already left that morning since most of their classes ended a day before

You were used to being the last to finish up, though

Considering you were the one who had the most load for your semesters

Right before you were to unlock your dorm door, your phone suddenly beeped into a notification

You grabbed it while unlocking your door and getting inside to check what it was

Alas, it was a notification that one of your favorite Youtubers uploaded a new video

Finally, a video to watch while packing stuff, you thought

You grinned widely as you closed the door and threw your bag to the bed

Preparing the video to load as you put it by your side table

You grabbed your comfiest clothes, noticing the rain about to pour once you glanced by the window

Putting your clothes on and running to your side of the dorm, you grabbed your luggage and finally starting to pack some of the clothes you put on your bed that morning

Some freshly washed, some you didn’t bother on even washing after wearing them a couple of times

You played the video and were delighted to see him doing a short intro song for his new video

“Hey, everyone! It’s Kevin. How have you all been? This week’s video will be more of a chill one since it’s been raining lately and I wanted to set a mood where we have a more relaxing vibe going on. Before I go on with the short vlog and other stuff in the video, let me start it off with a short cover I’ve been practicing for the past couple of days. I might be posting a full cover soon, but for now the short version would suffice, I suppose!”

You giggled while folding your clothes, hearing Kevin explain his video all throughout

He gave a light sigh before he started and you thought this was one of the cutest things he’s done since he didn’t really do much mannerisms either

At least that’s how other people saw it, but you always noticed these small details about him

As he started playing on the piano you realized he was playing a pretty popular song to be covered

You were trying to think what he was trying to play, like it was just on the tip of your tongue but you couldn’t pinpoint it out

“Look at the stars, look how they shine for you. And everything you do~”

“Yeah, they were all yellow.”

“YELLOW! RIGHT!”

You exclaimed while raising your arms, laughing right after and continuing to pack

“Your skin. Oh yeah, your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful

You know, you know I love you so

You know I love you so.”

“Alright, I guess that’s enough for now. Now, to the vlog!”

Kevin usually did vlogs here and there

But he mostly did make covers and posted a few compositions of his own, too

Even throwing in random videos of his own cooking recipes

He was pretty high in numbers when it came to viewers, his most viewed having a little over 700,000 viewers and the others having a little over a couple thousands to a hundred thousands

It was a cover for Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” along with a friend of his named Jacob

You even downloaded that video since you literally loved his soothing voice that complimented Jacob’s as well which was just as beautiful

Back to his newly uploaded vlog, he looked as if he was hanging out with a friend while talking about his plans of transferring schools

His friend even took videos for him, some of him laughing some things off as his friend tried to video him in different angles, making Kevin laugh and move around to try and avoid him

Then it showed them just having a drink at a coffee shop that seemed familiar to you, but couldn’t think of where it was exactly

He then moves the camera to himself while putting his drink next to him and taking a sip before continuing to speak

“Lately, I’ve been thinking about going to a new school since I moved just recently and I feel like I’m not satisfied with all the classes I’ve been taking with my course. Not that it’s not good enough! Really, the classes are great and you get to learn pretty well. I just think there are some aspects on some subjects I need to learn too from others to understand it well rather than discovering them on my own.”

You nodded in approval, knowing Kevin was a very open-minded person and he always was open to new things

“Also, my new place is pretty far from my old school. Say, about forty-five minutes? If there’s no traffic, that is.”

“So, yeah. I won’t say where I’ve moved, though. I don’t tell you guys where I live or what school I go to, even though some of you already got a hint because of my vlogs and some of my real life friends already saw most of my videos. I like keeping some things private, though, so I hope you guys don’t mind and just keep stuff discreet.”

He made a cute hush sign by putting a finger to his lips, which he giggled right after

And you thought this was really adorable of him

You were also very surprised his vlog was almost twenty minutes long since his vlogs were usually only up to ten minutes at most

So you thought this was probably one of those vlogs where he would do a heart to heart talk about some things

Most parts were of just him having fun with his friend since they weren’t able to meet much because of how busy they both were

The more you got into the video, the more you smiled all throughout

Knowing in between him and his ever so growing Youtube channel, he’s really just human and is like most people

He lives most of his life and has invited everyone subscribed to him, or even just ones who have watched his videos, a peek into his life in a limiting but satisfying level

Just as you expected, there was about two minutes left in the vlog and he sat on his small couch while smiling

“So, you guys know how much I love making videos, right? I’m going to be traveling somewhere in about two or three days from when this is posted, to somewhere all alone before I visit  my home in Canada for a short while during break. I’m not sure if I’m gonna be vlogging, though, since I want to focus the trip as a healing or fun one. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t.”

“I don’t like speaking of very deep topics, but I’ve been losing a bit of inspiration lately. Nothing big happened. Really. Maybe I’ve just been stressing out lately? The semester is about to end in a few days so I’m just feeling a bit of excitement and nervousness at the same time as I move forward and move to a new environment. I’ll definitely miss my friends here and of course I will keep contact with them and hang out with them when I get the time.”

“Other than that, I hope you enjoyed the vlog! I already pre-filmed a few covers and maybe two vlogs? Or was it just one… Ah, will definitely check on that! See ya!”

You smiled and knew there was something off about him from the last two videos

But you shrugged it off and thought it was really just him being busy and trying to fix his schedules as the break arrived

Just as the video ended, so was your arranging

You grabbed your plane ticket and noticed your flight was going to be a little early so you decided to sleep that night earlier too so you can get to the airport at a good time

Next day, you were feeling the excitement of finally being able to travel all alone

Not somewhere too far, though, just Busan since you were able to save enough for a short trip

Bus tickets, hotel, money for other necessities

You arrived the bus station and looked around to find your bus

Happy to find it easily and got yourself inside with no problems, ready to take on your short and fun trip as you sat on the bus with elation rising up inside of you

And before you knew it, you arrived Busan  

You go down from the bus and go towards a vending machine

For some reason, the vending machine didn’t work

You gave it a slight shake but your chocolate bar wouldn’t fall

“Do you need help?”

You turn and end up widening your eyes as you realized who it was

“Kevin?”

“Hi!”

He greeted back and smile warmly before moving to your front to see the vending machine

“You didn’t press the quantity.”

“Oh”

He scratched the back of his head in shyness and grabbed your snack to give to you right after

“How do you know me, by the way?”

“Um… would it weird you out if I said I watch your videos?”

He awkwardly snickered the moment you admitted this and you just shrugged

“I never really met any of subscribers since my channel isn’t that popular either.”

“Are you kidding? You have over two hundred thousand subscribers! How would they not know you?”

“I don’t find myself that interesting, honestly.”

You both had a short silence right after a couple of chuckles

“So, uh, you seem to be alone here like you said on your upload yesterday?”

“Yeah, I am! I’m not really used to Busan, though. So…”

“Do you somehow wanna explore around together? At least for today!”

You thought over and over why you offered, but you did want to help someone out as much as they were willing to help back

“Sure! I was thinking about getting some brunch first…”

“I am kind of getting hungry.”

You both ended up getting takeout and headed on over to the beach to eat and just watch the sea together, since you both weren’t sure where to go first more than any other place

He was able to find a rental for some other necessities at the beach so he rented a blanket for both of you

“I’ll pay you back.”

“No need!”

You both ended up eating snacks and looked at the beach as the waves were crashing to the shore and many others were having fun under the sun

Fortunately it was actually quite of a more pleasant weather

“Hey, I meant to ask this—what’s your purpose on coming to Busan?”

“I wanted a small trip for myself, even if it only lasted for a day.”

He nodded in agreement, saying it was great to let loose a bit from the stressful life in school, work, or even by living in a city

“I’m here for a couple of days and thought you were a local. I wanted to ask on where I could go and now I think I should’ve just researched first…”

“Same, honestly.”

You both started to laugh at how it was funny for both of you to end up going to a place for a trip and not actually prepare

“I’ve got an idea.”

You both immediately grabbed a taxi and asked to go to Seokbulsa Temple

Once you got there, a lot of tourists were already lining up by the entrance

So you decided to get the tickets for both of you

“It’s the least I could do for you getting the blanket and snacks.”

Kevin insisted on paying for himself, but you already bought two tickets so you both could finally enter the temple grounds

“Whoaaa”

Kevin was very fascinated by the area that he couldn’t help but grab his camera to take photos

You looked at him take photos whilst walking and you couldn’t help but think about something

“Hey, Kev! Why don’t you vlog a little?”

You suggested, and Kevin looked at you with a smile

“You know what? You’re right.”

He grabbed his smaller camera and began taking videos of the sceneries you both were able to go to and passed

You noticed how Kevin was also slightly eager to want to take photos of himself by some sculptures

“Kevin, stand over there.”

You clicked and took a photo of him with your phone, making sure you took enough for him to choose which one was best

“Send me those later, please”

“Of course!”

You noticed you both were able to spend almost two hours at the temple and began to walk out of the area to find a taxi again

“There’s this place I saw online and I wanted to go there ever since I saw photos taken by some visitors”

“Where?”

“Gamcheon Culture Village.”

You suddenly remembered how that place was known for its beautiful scenery and colorful homes, so you definitely wanted to go just as much as Kevin did

The moment you both arrive, he didn’t waste time and just took photos while vlogging

But as he vlogged, you noticed how he wasn’t including himself on the shots

“Hey, do you want me to take shots of you for the vlog?”

“It’s fine, really.”

“Come on, I’ll take a couple of shots of you walking towards some areas.”

You both were mesmerized as to how beautiful the area was

The vibe itself was like a mix of the past eras to the modern times

So definitely, you both were able to take lots of shots and photos

Kevin, who noticed you seemed to have only taken photos of the areas with your phone, suddenly had an idea

“Hey y/n, stand over there.”

“What?”

“I want to take a photo of you.”

“No, it’s fine!”

“Come on! I don’t get to do this very often. Hurry, a car is coming.”

He snapped a couple of photos before you could pass by the road again and let the passing car go

Again, because of how tired you both were, you ended up finding a café and decided to stay there for a while

Trying to cool off, he was feeling mischievous and took a photo of you secretly with his phone

But you heard the camera sound, which made him almost frantic because he forgot to turn it off or even silence his phone

“Nice try, Kevin.”

“I was trying to take a photo of the drinks and cake…”

After you both were done chatting and eating, it was close to getting quite dark so you both decided to go to one last place before heading to your own ways

It was also one of the most recommended places to go in your search results

“Gukje Market.”

“Oooooh”

The main thing you both wanted to look at was actually food

Because you heard the place was filled with lots of street food

So of course, you and Kevin went all out with the food

“Wow, this looks good. And that one! Auntie, how much for one small plate?”

“Take it easy, y/n”

“This is dinner, Kevin.”

Not only was Kevin very fascinated by the whole place and food, he was really interested in cooking as well

“How did you make this? Do you need that much sauce?”

He’d throw out different questions and was genuinely curious

You, on the other hand, just listened to him as you ate up all the way

Right after, you both stopped at the entrance and looked around to find any free cabs coming your way

“From all the talking and visiting only a couple of places, I really had fun.”

“I did too, Kevin.”

You smiled at him and patted his shoulder

“Learn to let loose sometimes. We have dark times; we just need to think of the brighter side more often. Whatever you’re struggling with now, you’ll get through it. Just be patient.”

“Thanks.”

“There’s a cab.”

You looked at Kevin and asked where his hotel was, but he insisted you’d grab it to yourself as he can call another one

“I’m off to this side, so yeah you said you were going the opposite.”

“See you around?”

“Sure.”

As you headed off, Kevin just smiled to himself as you left and thought to himself about what you had just told him

And then he realized, you were right and that change can be healthy and he just needed to be more positive

You didn’t expect anything from him in return but you saw he followed you back on your SNS accounts, and this confused you

You either wanted to laugh at yourself or felt kind of shy as to why he did so too

You ended up sending him a dm because you were just curious

“So… how did you find my account?”

“Well, I just searched your name? And if I remember, you tagged me in one of your photos.”

“…oh”

He was very kind and even his curiosity sparked as much as yours during travel

A week had passed, and you saw Kevin finally upload his short vacation vlog as you were sitting in your living room

You saw that he used a lot of the short video shots you took to areas and decided to make a voiceover midway through the five minute video

He was talking as to how Busan was beautiful and he definitely did not regret ever going

However, his words suddenly moved to a more serious note as he spoke

“I thought, for so long, on what I wanted to do with my life. I’m at an age where I have to discover new things and I was scared of doing it alone.”

“Luckily, I met someone on the way, and gave me the best advice. It wasn’t much, but those were the words I actually needed to hear most.”

You grinned right at the end of watching the video and didn’t hesitate on messaging Kevin again

You didn’t even realize you were looking at your phone the whole time you walked on your way to the campus grounds

Somehow, you ended up bumping into someone, causing them to drop his phone

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry-“

“Y/n?”

You looked up and saw that it was actually Kevin, looking as if he was very surprised to see you around the campus

“What are you doing here, Kevin?”

“I go to school here now!”

The school he talked about on a past video was actually the one you were currently attending

And he was very excited on starting a whole new semester there since it was a very good university too

“You didn’t tell me…”

“I mean, how would I know you attended this school too?”

You both ended up laughing as how it was such a coincidence for you to meet up again

Okee for some reason I’m really, really in love with the idea that Billy Batson and Jaime Reyes being best friends since they’re both like a year apart with weird powers they didn’t ask for and theY’RE BOTH PRECIOUS SWEET DORKS WHO JUST WANTED TO LIVE AND AHAAHHAAA

Anyways.

Here are some of the hcs I have for a ReyBats brotp! (And yes, I’m aware that I need a better ship name. Drop one in my ask box if you can think of some, please?)

-So we all know that billy gets majorly enthusiastic about stuff and he might tone it down when he’s older, but billy is obv. a HUUUUUUGE fanboy and introduces jaime to things he thinks jaime would like, stuff like Gen. Rex or the Fast & Furious movies (idk why but i feel like jaime would like those) 

-scarab is actually very suspicious of billy at first, mostly bc he thinks that billy might be trying to get between Jaime and Bart, so whenever billy’s around scarab tells jaime weird shit like: “Jaime Reyes, there are multiple neurotoxins in the Billy Batson’s system. I suggest cutting his head off and dumping his body in the desert as a safety precaution.”

-(of course, jaime is horrified and bugs billy about it over and over again, until billy finally agrees to get checked out and what do you know? he may not have neurotoxins but apparently he’s allergic to pistachios)

-bart does feel a little left out though, and billy notices and tries to play wingman by convincing jaime to go bake cookies with the poor little speedster, and jaime agrees. they almost burned down the garricks’ kitchen. billy promises that next time they can use his place since they have like 5 fire extinguishers in the house for when billy has to shazam

-soooooo many movie nights. just... hours of staying up with popcorn and unhealthy drinks and scarab going, “Jaime Reyes, this is not healthy for you or your friend. I suggest immediate sleep.” 

-billy is a little ashamed the first time he brings jaime to his apartment since it’s run-down and dirty and in a poor part of the city, but jaime thinks it’s really cool and has a nice comfy relaxing vibe to it. billy feels better once he hears that scarab approves

-uncle dudley really likes jaime and doesn’t even bat an eye when scarab accidentally blasts a hole in the sofa (”Oh, we’ve had much worse. Billy once torched the restroom by sleep-talking!” “UNCLE DUDLEY!!!”)

-and the first time billy goes to jaime’s house, ooooooh boy. milagro is confused when she sees billy, bc she thought that jaime’s crush/sort-of boyfriend had brown hair and green eyes? bianca is concerned over billy being so scrawny at fifteen, and she practically shoves plate after plate of food down his throat. alberto scares billy at first bc he’s a little intimidating but billy manages to make alberto laugh with a few lame jokes he stole from the internet. 

-basically jaime’s family loves billy and want jaime to bring him over just as much as he does with bart and tye

-if the League isn’t busy with a mission but the Team is, billy will often help ‘em out so that he can chill in the cave with jaime and the others, who still aren’t used to captain marvel being a fifteen-year-old ubergeek. gar idolizes him.

-billy once asked jaime to teach him swears in spanish. jaime instead taught him to say “The Justice League can suck my balls.” the first time captain marvel muttered that in a meeting, he got sentenced to watch tower clean-up for a whole month

-billy has a youtube channel that’s mostly jaime doing wicked skateboard tricks and billy narrating and vlogs about the justice league and possible conspiracy theories such as blue beetle having an affair with that new weird speedster called Impulse. he has 2,901,348 subscribers and even manages to include members of the Team and, on special occasions, the League

-but everyone’s fave video on the channel is this poolside episode where everyone is in swimsuits and looking hot af. half of it is just billy snickering in the background and zooming in on people who are blatantly checking each other out and should just get a room already. all the viewers are massively confused though, bc in the whole 15-minute vlog jaime is the only one who isn’t shirtless. in fact, jaime is just chilling on a chaise lounge in a tank top and swimming trunks, which is still hot but it’s something they’ve seen before. the comments are all pretty wild and most of the people are trying to guess why jaime isn’t half-naked like his friends

-(everyone thinks it’s bc jaime has a really, really bad shirt tan and that the skin of his chest and back isn’t as dark as the rest of him. in another episode, jaime actually does reveal his back to show everyone his “awesome blue beetle tattoo that he’d been afraid to reveal”, and nobody even thinks twice about it. it just makes jaime even cooler to them)

-billy and jaime know what it’s like to feel alone on a team of people who work like a well-oiled machine. they don’t have mentors and both got their powers even though they never asked for it. sometimes jaime gets nightmares from his time with the Reach and if Bart isn’t around, it’s usually Billy who can comfort him.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT JACK’S SURPRISE (READ CAREFULLY – BUT NOT JACK)

DO NOT REBLOG THIS POST Okay, guys, so here’s all the rules for Jack’s surprise. First off, there’s a TON of people interested in taking part, so I need everyone to pay close attention and do exactly what I ask of them, to avoid any confusion or delays in bringing this project to life. I am just one person after all, and there are A LOT of you.

Since there are SOOOOOO many people who want to do this, I am capping this project at 100 personalized/open messages. There will be NO LIMIT to the number of private messages for this project, but there IS a deadline. The deadline for this project is June 1st, 2017. For the personalized style, say you’re really into sports, I can decorate your page with sports stuff, or to suit whatever it is that you’re into. I will be messaging everyone a picture of THEIR OWN PAGE once the book is complete, so you can see how it turned out. I do not want to post them publicly and put your message on blast. It’s up to you if you then want to post the picture, but PLEASE don’t post it until after Pax West is over. I wanted to also specify again that this project is for people WHO HAVE NOT MET JACK/WILL NOT MEET HIM AT PAX WEST. Your blog appeared on my dashboard and I clicked the follow button almost instantly. However I have a question related to vaporwave, why there are people saying vaporwave is dead? I found something similar related to Macintosh hd (or something like that) with an edited version of her album cover in which the statue face is gone, symbolizing vaporwave's death?

Okay so first of all, thanks for asking me because God knows I don’t get to talk about this stuff IRL and get taken seriously very often.

There are many ways to interpret this idea, so I’ll take them one at a time.

1. Vaporwave is dead is a final give up and frustrated sigh to some (mostly /mu/ frequenters on 4chan imo). To them, Vaporwave exists as an anonymous music genre first and foremost. It posits the idea of post-identity, seeing as many artists and creators choose to remain nameless and faceless. After all, the namesake vaporwave and “waves of vapor” mean meaningless, fleeting, not substantial, nihilistic, etc. 

What prompts people to say Vaporwave is Dead comes from people choosing to put a name and face to themselves, whether it’s Chuck Person being revealed to be Daniel Lopatin, or the ever-famous Floral Shoppe’s Macintosh Plus being tracked down to Ramona Xavier and Vektroid. This flies in the face of “what Vaporwave is arbitrarily supposed to be about” according to them.

2. Not only that, but many who subscribe to the Vaporwave is Dead slogan are also frustrated with a lack of actual talent in the genre. At some points, it’s like finding a diamond in the rough only to have that diamond lost again forever within an endless soundcloud playlist. 

Personally, I tend to almost exclusively look at Vaporwave that has been recommended to me and I hold onto those tracks because I know it’s hard to actually find good vaporwave these days. Any nerdy 15 year old with basic knowledge of audio engineering can call themselves a “vaporwave artist” much like many a nerd who can rhyme sometimes will take a stab at being a soundcloud rapper. This isn’t a diss at aspiring artists, far from it, but because Vaporwave has no mainstream appeal, it’s incredibly difficult to know who went to college for 5+ years to make their sound and who spent 30 minutes on a free audio mixer. A lot of it is shit. And people get frustrated with having to spend countless hours to find one new good song in a genre that’s maybe 8 years old at best. 

2a. This isn’t even mentioning the idea that some assholes and eternal hipsters think they’re the only ones qualified to enjoy Vaporwave and will intentionally say bad music is good because “Well you just don’t get it” when in reality, anyone willing to sit down and decide what they like in the genre can find something enjoyable. It’s challenging sometimes, but not impossible. Because of this factor, many have moved on from Vaporwave, deeming it unfit for their challenging hipster needs.

3. An easier reason to say Vaporwave is Dead comes from the idea that Vaporwave is in effect, obsessed with death and the past. Sure, the past that Vaporwave shamelessly romanticizes is only 30 years ago, but if you notice, themes that often pop up in the aesthetic are skeletons, empty buildings, lifeless roman busts, fake plants, as well as the idea of consumerism and it’s affect on us today. This third point is admittedly a lot more shallow than the previous two, but I’m trying to be as all encompassing as I can.

I’ll give you a link to Vaporwave: A Brief History, because it is amazing if you want to know more about it. They get very philosophical and it’s a pretty long video so have a snack ready, but I got a good crash course into what Vaporwave is from that video. 

TL;DR

People get buttmad because their precious underground genre is going a little more mainstream while the quality tanks. 

My theory as to the redone cover to “symbolize the death of vaporwave” is that Ramona Xavier (the Macintosh Plus artist) simply didn’t want to be pigeon holed into “one hit wonder”-dom and she was probably a little (rightly) upset that no one seemed to care about her other work. It’s also possible she simply did what Vaporwave was meant to do; dissolve and disappear until the next puff of vapor inevitably shows up.

In the end, there isn’t really an answer we can point to until/unless she speaks out about it personally. As for me, I don’t think Vaporwave is dead, because we’ve seen it grow as a genre and branch off into other subsets of weird crazy music. It’s most often seen as aesthetic over substance, but that doesn’t make Vaporwave any less worthwhile to look at and contemplate. 

Maybe Vaporwave is meant to be enjoyed.

Maybe not. 

That’s a question for a different day.

yeah, shiny new blog. but why?

Put simply I’m messy and I forget.

I’m not going to hide it, John Tracy is the reason I am in this fandom and the reason I stay. I have read soooooo much great fic for him and I have bookmarked, commented, subsrcribed, liked, reblogged accordingly. But I have done that over at least three sites. Some are bookmarked on my pc, some on my laptop, some on my phone. My subscribed list on AO3 has no summaries, neither does the favourites list on FF and I have liked so many thinks on tumblr they are down there in the depths of the scroll.

So I’m going to tidy it all up, put links to the fics and the reblogs here, even if I also put them on my main account.

I also realised I don’t  re-read fic that I’ve written. I had a comment the other day and couldn’t remember the first thing about that fic, didn’t even recognise it til I was two paragraphs in. Which is a shame, because I write the stories I want to read, but then I don’t read them??? So I’m going to shamlessly reblog my own stuff too, in the hopes I will read it again (and not notice too many spelling mistakes!)

Meet Christopher Wink: an interview with Technically Media’s Cofounder/CEO

What did you think of Brian James Kirk when you first met him and when were you like "yeah dude I wanna be partners in business with you for the next 9+ years"

I first met @brianjameskirk as undergrads at our college newspaper and I absolutely saw Brian as this stoner designer dude. He saw me as a preppy kiss ass. It took a year for us to come together. We’ve grown and changed together a ton. Here we are now!

What were you like as a teen, were you nice to nerds?

I was surely the nerd to some myself. I think I had become a decent dude by high school. In contrast, I was a bit of a brat in elementary and middle school. I was always an "involved" person but by my teens I was likely even more similar to how I am now: I said a lot of ridiculous things and always had some scheme or project. I think that and playing sports (basketball and soccer) let me dip into several social groups.

When are you running for office and what's your policy platform?

If I'm running for office (which is clearly not in any immediate horizon for me), my platform would be very centrist-y and trying to make the word "compromise" distinct from "compromised." Historically social movements have lasted when they've been about gaining widespread popular opinion. Economic development through entrepreneurship would be a focus.

Who is your favorite person besides Shannon and Brian James Kirk?

My father is deeply influential on me, I’ve traveled on annual road trips with my childhood friend Michael. Considering what you’re asking me, Patrick BIG TIMBS McNeil is my best friend and would likely be the person I have the most intimacy beyond Shannon and Brian James Kirk.

What's one thing you never expected to be hard about starting a company?

I think I remain surprised by how many decisions are neither the RIGHT nor WRONG one but instead are simply choices. Choices that WILL hurt someone and help someone else. I find clean decisions are very rare. Life is messy and you get put in a position of guess work. Growing a company is 1,000 choices that in the moment no one very much agrees on.

What's your spirit animal?

Spirit animal. I'm gonna be real with you, I'm v into the domestic house cat. But I might go with a nurse shark because they look fierce but they actually don't kill, they're just kinda badass. I saw a bunch of them while snorkeling off the coast of Belize last year and was blown away.

What did running with the bulls in Pamplona feel like and was it worth it?

Running with the bulls probably best travel decision of my life. The moments before it started was the most scared I had felt in a "safe" public place.

You're tall as hell dude, did you ever consider playing basketball ? I'm thinking you coulda played small forward at a Div 2 school at least bruh.

I played basketball growing up and into high school! Last night I was telling the story that so crystallizes the kinds of relationships I tend to have. When I was a senior, we had an exceptional point guard (1k+ career points) and so my entire job as the other guard was to just give him the ball and then go play defense. Late that season against our arch rivals, the team came out and started immediately double teaming him. I was open a lot and got hot and scored 20 points in the first half (mind you, I’m maybe averaging 7 points per game). At halftime my closest high school friend says to me "I guarantee you don't score another point in this game." .......He was correct

Did you win a high school superlative? If so, did you ask people to vote for you?

Yes! I was "Class Clown" and "Most Involved. " I was runner up for "Most Likely to Succeed" and still plan on surpassing that friend to own it. Admittedly, I went to a pretty small school :)

What's your favorite Technical.ly memory to date

Favorite Technical.ly memory to date. Real talk, I always have a favorite moment that happened in the last few weeks because I really seriously no BS love the evolution and growth and seeing us get better together. So always a v recent thing is my favorite memory. But because I don't think that's really what you want meant to say, I'll instead say the kickoff of Philly Tech Week 2013 when we did our first outdoor kickoff and after we almost finished the later-Guinness Book of World Records confirmed world's largest video game by playing Pong on the Cira Center, a torrential storm crashed over us. Favorite story that has run in our markets, I'm gonna go with two because there have been thousands. Off-hand, the Tyler Woods Startup Founder on Welfare story stuck with me and I think about it a lot. Yes, it isss probably something that would run elsewhere but it felt v much OF us, like a relationship built because of deep ties that was trying to be REAL about something. When we were INVOLVED in launching OpenDataPhilly and I can't underscore how WEIRD that was. We had a lot of internal conversations, including @brianjameskirk and I about whether it was OK that we had reported on WHAT the city needed and could we be INVOLVED In it

I think about the full disclosure at the top of that story a lot. It threw us into a lot of open data and civic conversations, but it also set up HOW we approached being a PART Of our community. I think not long after we changed the tagline to "Better Cities through Technology"

Fave place you've traveled

I lived in Tokyo for a bit less than a year and so fitting in my interest in time to get to know a place, that stands out to me a bunch. It is this international city so it’s so easy to go and it not be special but living in a neighborhood and having neighbors and a grocery shop was really profound. I did so much writing and reading it was profound. It was also where I first started as a bicycle commuter.

What's the most embarrassing professional moment you've ever had and, I guess, what did you learn from it?

Early on, I remember not knowing what SaaS was during an interview and I fumbled my faking it and it resulted in several weeks of me having nightmares of being on CNBC for an interview and embarrassing us all. So I got obsessed with returning to a basic business and tech background, preparing for disruptive questions

If you could pick, what would be your superpower?

Invisibility always stands out to me as lowkey powerful. But maybe SUPER LINGUAL, like, where I could speak any and all languages

What was the most hilarious/ridiculous thing that happened to you in a professional moment?

My oft-cited memory of me finding out I had a giant hole in the crotch of my only pair of thrift store khakis after I had sat down w/ my first big client meeting (that is the rock bottom moment that turned around my relationship with clothes)

Is the future of journalism bright or dreary?

Journalism bright or dreary? Yah, for me, journalism is a THING you do, like producing software open source, so I think its future is super bright, so long as there are practitioners like us passionate about its utility. I was able to pull five-county criminal records last night in an hour online for this story I'm reporting. I am better sourced because of web tools, so journalism is easier to do. Building it into business models (like we're doing,) that is really hard and it's the most important thing I think I'm working on but the strategy of making public information that is true accurate and helps other people is v bright

What's the next Chris Wink side project after the retirement of Story Shuffle?

I came to reporting from the writing side first. There is nothing I love more in the world than writing. In the last 18-months I've been picking back up some creative writing and so I'll be putting some real time into getting a few modest pieces published on that form. I def self-identify still as a journalist but really, more than reporting, it's the writing I love. I want to move a bigger effort there (Story Shuffle was always part of that longer term strategy too )

You're good at talking about yourself and exceptionally self-aware. Advice for knowing when to STFU and when to dig deeper?

I think journalism training is soooooo good for self-discovery. I think it really starts with accepting yourself. You'll get teased for (as I do) for being self-referential or self-involved but I think it's really important to be able to say I REALLY LIKE THESE THINGS ABOUT ME but also be able to say THESE ARE THINGS I REALLY WISH I WAS BETTER AT. And then attacking both of those with questions. You can internally interview yourself like you would. I want to be able to understand why I am good at some stuff and why I'm crummy at other stuff. Self-improvement is v cool,but it starts w/ some self-love.

Do you like being surprised?  

Nah, I don't like being surprised. It's probably part of the whole reporting love. I want to be the one who knows stuff, not surprised.

If you were not the CEO of Technically Media, what would you be doing?

If not in my job now? Realistically, probably a reporter somewhere, likely in/around politics/government. Less likely but relevant, maybe ended up cofounding a dif kind of company or in some other purely writing role.

When you come back into the office can you show us your signature dance move?

I assume you mean my interpretive dance performance "Swallowed frog." No! I'm all for embarrassing shit WITHOUT CAMERAS. I say let people live and be silly and keep the cameras for things strangers can see. Intimacy doesn't do well w/ recorded archives

Best marriage advice?

Take a half-hour walk every single night together.

When did you get your first phone? What type of phone was it? What was your background picture? And, did you have a ringback tone (if so, what song).

I got my first phone when I was a sophomore in high school (!) when I got my learner's permit for driving. I remember using a pay phone to get picked up as an 8th grader. I'm pretty sure that phone literally did not support background images or ringtones.

Been wanting to visit Tokyo for years. Any tips for traveling there?

Tokyo (Edo) was constructed over time as a medieval place to protect from attack, so the streets intentionally do not make sense. It's the opposite of Center City. (London got confusing just over time, Tokyo is intentionally built as a confusing fucking place to navigate. ....So def have .GPS access...or don't and just leave time for getting lost. Eat at every ramen shop under a train stop. The tiniest old men with craggy faces and expressionless smiles will serve you at the counter and then bow, and you will bow in return. It will be nice.  Fun Tokyo story we've already talked about, I was part of a lil NBCU pilot online reality show jawn and I got lost in all the episodes

Who's a person outside of Technical.ly (or Shannon) you would turn to for management advice?

I talk to my father weekly on the phone and I find his perspective interesting. He works at a small concrete, stone and tile manufacturing company and I find his perspective on what is normal in the workplace. I also have always been moved by his pragmatism and quiet generosity.

What motivates you?

It is v internal facing. I am v demanding of myself to be better than I was before. I don't like things that I don't understand how to get better at. So: to be a better version of myself than I was. Shannon and I talk about that: that we're supposed to keep becoming better versions of ourselves for the other

Who are the top 3 journos out there you would pay / do pay to read?

So the Economist famously does not have bylines so I don't think I could name one but I am a very happy proud longtime print subscriber so surely someone there. I truly love the ways we approach storytelling here, so those bylines from Julie Zeglen Stephen b Tyler Woods Tony Abraham Juliana Holly Quinn Zack Seward etc, do mean alot to me, I would consume them. ...And, yeah, I'm a George Saunders fanboy and so I like when he's been pulled into doing fun profiles

Name three Philly tech scenesters you're truly fond of / name one that you... could do without?

Robert J. Moore and Jon Gosier on the founder front, I'm v impressed w/ them and always feel smarter when I talk to them. (Garrett Melby is that too). I make no secret that I have a real soft spot for Archna, whom I long found one of the most under-celebrated for her relative impact. And on the v young front: Dawn McDougall. I think she took a v mature pathway to not wanting a full-time director role for Code for Philly because she wanted to gain some experience at an org. She showed some power. For someone to get rid of? I don't think I can put that in writing.

What's the main reason Yuriy Poritko fascinates you?

Two things on the Yuriy front (for others, he's a Philly organizer who has been around forever and I'm writing a lil something on him that's gonna run next week). I try to write something for one of our markets every six weekssss~ and so I always wanted to do something on him just because he is eccentric and colorful. So it started just that he is interesting. But then other pieces started coming together, and I started putting more time into it once I wrote my nut graf. I found that I could connect him to a bigger/broader lesson that I think other communities face too. So (a) he's interesting and (b) he does represent something. He has caused some real pain and damage, but he has done genuine good. I don't find EVIL or GOOD characters interesting. I think people who are complex and complicated are far more challenging to write. I am not aiming to judge the man in this piece, I’m aiming to better understand why he is who he is. I think that’s the kind of community reporting and business journalism I love most.

What do you do when you’re bored?

I’d say I can’t remember the last time I was bored but I know what ya mean. I watch a ton of science and history Youtube videos when I’m eating at home. I also am basically always tryyyyying to write, whether that be my iPhone notes app open or scribbling in a pad. ..Also Twitter is an incredible place to learn if you curate your followers thusly :slightly_smiling_face:

What are your thoughts on early let outs on Fridays before national holidays?

:eye-roll: Seriously I always find those questions weird, I am not tracking anyone's hours, never have been! Get your shit done. Work hard! Do your time most weeks and take time for you other times. It's so simple, if you're doing good work and giving :100: and build a relationship of trust with your team, then choose when it's right for you. I guess I can do a better job of communicating that but there is no magic time that you can work toward and I am HAPPY. If you're supporting your team and doing great work and you are EXCITED About being here, I don’t think anyone says anything. So, idk, go home!

How about some book recommends for another avid reader?

I am not a fast reader, my wife has me beat. I'm trying to simply get back to a book a month (have a resolution of reading a writer of color for the first time each month this year) and not nailing that but I loved Zadie Smith's throwback White Teeth.
