OKAY. let's clarify some stuff for people who are confused:
the entire episode is not a dream sequence. aside from that just being lazy, it's also not what the editing is communicating. this show is very good at editing in a dreamlike, slightly disjointed way; it's part of what contributes to it feeling so intimate and personal, and nothing about that editing really changed in episode 6 except for when it got dramatic RIGHT at the end, but i'm gonna address that particular tone change under the cut for those who want spoilers
the show intercuts flashbacks throughout, even dispersing flashbacks of what appears to be the same scene (therapy) through multiple episodes, and intercutting current dialogue with flashbacks (jaewon's brother flashbacks with his father's voice). the last five minutes MIGHT be a flash forward, which means that a lot of the coupley stuff left from the trailer could be coming up in episode 7 either as a lead-up to the inevitable or afterwards in flashback form, but again, i'm leaving my personal thoughts on that for under the cut
ALSO, he definitely says "boyfriend". he says "남자 친구" which literally translates to "namja - man, chingu - friend" and used together like that is the colloquially understood term for "boyfriend" in korean; it is sometimes shorted to "남친" (namchin) but BLs haven't reached that point yet. REGARDLESS, even though that technically translates to "male friend" SO DOES FUCKING BOYFRIEND. the only other word is "애인" (aein) which you may have heard, but it's gender neutral.
the context of that interaction is important. he says friend, the attendant clearly notices the implication and says "oh a girlfriend?" and he responds with "no, a boyfriend" and then the cashier gives him romantic fireworks. it was not an accident or a mistranslation. just because jaewon is closed off and masks does not mean he's like that about everything all of the time. like he says to jihyun, its easier to talk to him because he doesn't know his baggage. and as somebody who is very similar to jaewon I find it so easy to say things to strangers that I struggle to articulate to my friends. I come out to people as soon as I meet them but coming out to my friends was hard. it just be like that sometimes.
the last thing is a spoiler of what's actually happening in that last scene in relation to the movie version of this show that came out, so if you don't want to see those, simply do not look under the cut:
jihyun is not dead, nor is he a figment of jaewon's imagination. it is not a dream sequence or a fakeout - jihyun does almost drown and it does utterly fuck jaewon up.
that is literally the only spoiler i know from the movie because i saw it by accident and then noped out of the comments section of MDL and banned myself from going in there because i hate being spoiled, but it's actively starting to worry me just how many people are convincing themselves that it's all a dream or a fakeout who are going to be really distressed next week when it turns out not to be.
i'm all for collective fandom delusion (i was in The 100 fandom for years) but this seems like the kind of thing that, as somebody who is also a mentally ill queer person who gets WAY too attached to media, could be really damaging to everybody the longer this week goes on without answers and the collective fandom delusion spirals out of control.
(and hey, maybe this spoiler is a lie, or maybe the show is being edited differently to the film, but i still think it's HIGHLY unlikely all of that was just to trick us for no reason. that doesn't really align with the story they're telling)
take a breath like jihyun can't and remember there are FOUR WHOLE EPISODES LEFT. maybe the show will end tragically or bittersweet but i don't believe they'll do that in a way that is designed to actively hurt us. this is a show made by queer people, for queer people, and they foreshadowed from the start that this was going to happen. it's not a dropped plot point or a fakeout or an accident of editing - everything is VERY intentional.

Ahsoka vs. Anakin
Tumblr media
Thinking about Shadow Warrior again. Obviously, this episode is one of the best pieces of Star Wars media in recent years, in no small part in how it begins to tie up the loose ends of Ahsoka's long and involved story. However, one thing that I also really appreciate is that this episode is, arguably, one of Ahsoka's greatest accomplishments as a lightsaber duelist in her fifteen years of existence (and that's saying something considering just how badass she is). I know some of you might find that a strange statement given the context of her battle with Anakin, but hear me out.
Let's get the rancor in the room out of the way first. Yes, it was all a dream. Sort of like Kanan's duel with the Temple Guards in Season 2 of Rebels, Snips and Skyguy were not actually fighting each other in the real world (which makes sense what with one of them being, you know, dead). Additionally, the changing scenery in accordance with Anakin's lesson indicates that Anakin's spirit had at least some influence over the way the World Between Worlds was manifesting. As a result, Anakin basically had invincibility and quicksave mods in place before the fight even started, meaning that even if Ahsoka were able to defeat him, she had no chance of actually killing or destroying him. Yes, Force spirits have been destroyed in Star Wars lore before, but not only has this yet to be seen in the current continuity, the only spirits to have suffered this fate in Legends were Sith ghosts, which are fundamentally different than Jedi ones.
Secondly, we have the scope of just who Ahsoka was facing here. As we all know, Anakin was one of the greatest lightsaber masters the Prequel era Order ever produced, having regularly overpowered Asajj Ventress, killed Count Dooku, and being, at worst, equal to Obi-Wan Kenobi. While that's pretty epic on it's own, we mustn't forget that this is Anakin's spirit from after he died, aka this is technically Darth Vader we're seeing here. Not only did Vader establish himself in both continuities as one of the most dangerous Jedi killers of all time, but he did this with an additional twenty three years of training and experience. While Anakin vs Vader had been a fandom debate for decades at this point, I think it's pretty inarguable that Vader at his peak was a far greater warrior than he had been as a Jedi, especially since much of his development was built around addressing the weaknesses that got him roasted on Mustafar. Vader's only real shortcomings were in the logistics of his armor and cybernetics, hindering his mobility. However, as anyone with working eyes can tell, Anakin isn't wearing his armor when he fights Ahsoka in the WBW, so he can move around as much as he wants while still retaining all of his skill and power. Basically, this is a pants-crapping glimpse of what a hypothetical suitless Darth Vader would have been like if he didn't have to contend with his handicaps. While Hayden's coreogrpahy does more closly match Anakin's fighting style than Vader's, Anakin's conduct, particuarlly his psychological warfare tactics, is much closer to what he did as Vader.
On that note, let's look at the tactical side of things. We have Anakin springing this encounter on Ahsoka right away without giving her time to prepare, forcing her to fend him off to avoid being destroyed. At the same time, Anakin's objective here is to get Ahsoka to confront her inner demons and acknowledge the need to continue fighting, not just beat her senseless. This means the two combatants were going in with drastically different strategic goals; Ahsoka was fighting to survive, Anakin was fighting to prove a point. Neither of them were expecting this to be an all-out battle to the death, and their conduct reflects this. Hell, Anakin pretty much resigns from the fight once he's satisfied that Ahsoka has gotten her head back on straight.
In summary, Ahsoka was fighting one of the greatest warriors in all of Jedi and Sith history who was functionally immortal, had some measure of control over the environment, and could employ his skills unrestricted by what held him back in life.
And she still held her own.
Yes, Anakin was holding back (he was trying to teach her, not kill her), but he wasn't just playing around either. He still forcefully pressured her; he would have needed to in order to get his point across. If Anakin had just walked up to Ahsoka and smacked her around like a ragdoll, that would have been one thing, but he didn't. She fought back, resisting his onslaught, even landed a few hits on her own, and ultimatly compelled him to call off the fight. Anakin may have been in no real danger of dying here, but he clearly couldn't afford to coast by this either.
Now, just so we're clear, I don't think that Ahsoka is Anakin/Vader's equal, and in a straight up fight with no strings attached, she would ultimately loose just as she did on Malachor. But the simple fact that she acquitted herself as well as she did against Vader's unrestrained specter is absolutely incredible. I'll go so far as to say that Ahsoka performed better than the vast majority of the people Vader fought in his career even if she didn't actually win.
So, yeah. Ahsoka Tano is a beast. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Happy STS!
Your characters and story but it's the middle ages. What roles do they have in the society? Are they royalty or something else? How does your story change?
Hello! Thanks for the ask, @the-stray-storyteller. Sorry I've taken so long to respond... but better late than never, right?
This question is super interesting to me (most of my stories are set in this current time, and my main story is set in 2010), and I needed to take some time to research and plan this one out. There are so many roles that each of these characters could fit nicely into, and it's fun to think about these things and explore them!
Let's go!
For the Steph's Crew gang again:
Stephanie:
Given her strong personality and natural leadership skills, Stephanie could be seen as a potential noble or the daughter of a lord? Or something like that... She might be part of the court, influencing decisions and playing a significant role in her family's domain. This could be an interesting thing for her character-wise, just thinking of all the things she'd have to deal with in her life (a lot of her challenges could revolve around navigating the complexities of medieval court life, dealing with arranged marriages, potentially facing political intrigues, etc. Her rebellious nature would likely clash with the expectations of her position and the societal norms of that time).
However, realistically, considering her background in the story proper (not knowing either of her parents, being raised in the foster care system, etc), her life in a medieval setting probably wouldn't be nearly as glamorous as all that lol. Steph might not have any opportunities to be in a leadership role in society. It might be more realistic to have her be a commoner, or even in a lower social class, perhaps as a commoner or a servant. Her confident leader nature could still come into play, though... it could lead her to become a respected figure among her peers or a vocal advocate for social justice. She might rally for the rights and well-being of the less fortunate! I think she'd like that (her old lawyer dreams lol. Plus her general protectiveness of things/people that are important to her). Maybe she could become a leader among the local villagers or a group of rebels seeking to challenge the ruling aristocracy. A charismatic orator rallying people against injustices.
Bret:
Bret's rebellious and troublemaking nature might place him as a rogue a troublemaker on the fringes of society (as well as a member of the lower class, most likely). With that basic idea, a certain picture comes to mind... a skilled thief, perhaps? Or a mercenary? Or maybe a member of a band of outlaws living on the outside borders of the greater neighbourhood (which is particularly fitting, since he starts a band in book 2 lol)... Idk whether to have him be a smart troublemaker. The thing about him is that he is clever, but not in the traditional sense. He's known for his musical skills and his overall creativity. Maybe he could be some kind of musician or bard who uses his charm and musical talents to entertain and gather information! He might be associated with a group of outlaws, challenging the authority and evading capture.
I see him still having his whole "desire for self-improvement" thing in this alternate universe... he'd likely struggle with it more, here, though, due to his extreme circumstances (he's alone, orphaned, and appears to have nobody in his life except for his merry band of rogues... and you know they won't be the best influences on him lol). His struggles with depression and grief would also likely be more challenging to address without modern mental health resources. He'll need to find some better people to surround himself with, and put his skills and gifts to positive use. Bret's story could focus on his struggles with survival, evading the law, meeting his new friends, cutting toxic people off and potentially seeking redemption or finding a cause to fight for within the societal hierarchy of the middle ages. Maybe it could help if he met and connected with a certain smart girl...
Elise (aka the "certain smart girl" lol):
Elise's love for books and knowledge could make her a brilliant scribe or scholar, valuable to a noble household. She could serve a noble family as a tutor, perhaps (maybe that could be how she meets Steph! If she were in a noble family)? She could also be a scholar residing in/working for a monestary... her studious, principled and introverted nature could lead to her finding a place in an academic or religious setting/community.
If not, she could be a healer's apprentice, contributing to the well-being of her community (training to become a doctor, basically. She'd like that, I think. She loves to help people!). She could be known in the group for her extensive knowledge on science, herbs and remedies, as well as her caring nature. Her role within the story and within the group could involve providing wisdom and counsel when needed, as well as acting as a mediator in disagreements. She'd likely have a really strong influence on everyone in the crew, actually. Not just Bret. I just mentioned her specifically in Bret's part because of their connection in the story proper.
Dylan:
Dylan could perhaps be reimagined as a skilled knight/soldier, a member of the royal guard or a nobleman's son, excelling in jousting and other martial arts. Due to his atleticism (plus his natural protectiveness!). And unlike Bret, I can easily see him as more of a "smart" person at his role, because in the actual story, he is seen as an intelligent person, and he gets good grades frequently despite all of his family drama and stuff. I think his intellect mixed with his athleticism would position him as a natural strategist and planner.
Despite his prowess, he still grapples with the same old home drama and expectations (could take the form of political intrigue, with his parents' divorce and his father's conflict potentially mirroring tensions between different factions or noble houses?), struggling to fit into the traditional chivalric mould, so to speak.
Alice:
Alice, in a medieval context, could be a witty and resourceful lady-in-waiting at a noblewoman's court, known for her clever retorts and sharp intellect. She might use her wit and charm to navigate the complex political intrigues of the court. Her character could navigate the intricate webs of medieval court intrigue, using her intelligence and wit to outmaneuver rival factions and gain influence. It may also lead to her feeling out of place, though... her not completely fitting into that "lady-in-waiting" role and all (or the prescribed societal norms and expectations for a young woman).
Her wit and sarcasm might also lead to her finding her place as a court jester or some kind of entertainer, amusing others with her sharp humor and quick thinking. She could use her humor to navigate the complexities of the medieval social hierarchy, which could all be a part of her finding her place in society.
I could go on... like I didn't even bring in any factors like race into this (Dylan is black, and Steph is half black... so they'd likely face additional challenges in a society where people of color were often marginalised and faced systemic barriers in terms of opportunities, social status, and acceptance. Dylan especially would be seen differently, despite his status. And even Stephanie who is in a relationship with someone who isn't biracial like her, would have to deal with societal scrutiny, potentially leading to social challenges for both her and Ben. Because in my mind, Ben would still be involved in the story lol). I don't think I want to get into little details like that, though.
That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed this.

The Bugle's been going for sixteen years, as of October 15, 2023. I like that date, because it's only two days after my birthday. I enjoy that around my birthday every year, The Bugle also has a little birthday celebration. And they do. On their very first birthday, in October 2008, they had cake in the studio in England where Andy Zaltzman was and in New York where John Oliver was and they celebrated their project surviving for a year and it was really sweet. And every since then, they do something like that. Last year, they marked the big fifteenth anniversary with a tour of live shows, and a special John and Andy reunion episode that made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes while listening to it on a bus, prompting me to pull my mask up and hat down to hide my reaction, but it wasn't quite enough to avoid getting a few strange looks.
No big tour this year, but Andy Zaltzman did write a special In The Bin section with some nice callbacks, that I transcribed for the Bugle fans on Tumblr who might not be following the current version of the podcast but enjoy references to the original:
Andy Zaltzman: As always, a section of this podcast is going straight in the bin. This week: a special Bugle sixteenth birthday commemorative section. At sixteen now, The Bugle can start voting in some parts of the world, including, crucially, Ecuador, and the Channel Island of Sark. So that’s very exciting, that we can now vote in those parts of the world. Anuvab Pal: It’s time to rig some elections in Ecuador, that’s what I’m thinking. Andy Zaltman: Look, Bugles, if you want an election near you rigged, just email us and we will do what we can. The Bugle can now buy cigarettes, although obviously it wouldn’t want to; if a podcast starts coughing and spluttering it’s not a great listen. It also means that The Bugle is, depending on where you listen to it, now legally allowed to consent to, um, uh, be played at the same time as another podcast, also over the age of sixteen, I think. Sadly, the minimum age for marriage in the UK was recently raised from sixteen to eighteen, so the planned wedding between The Bugle and the 2001-born TV drama series 24 will not be happening yet. Bit of an age gap, but it would have been fascinating to see Jack Bauer’s comedic take on the week’s global news, and to see what storylines they came up with for The Bugle. Could the Los Angeles counter-terrorist unit stop The Bugle’s Machiavellian scheme to establish a professional four-day cricket championship in California before it was too late? I, personally, would have watched that repeatedly. Also, The Bugle can, at the age of sixteen, and this is not a moment too soon, now go and get a proper job. It can also change its name, legally, and from what I’ve heard, from sources close to The Bugle, it is considering a change of name, at this point, at age sixteen. Amongst the possibilities: The Barak Obama Interview Show – apparently there are certain legal issues with that; Zaltor the Merciless Dispenses Wise Judgement to His Adoring Yet Fearful Subjects – I can see that working; Bible Studies with Mildred and Herbit – bit of a mix-up; Andy Zaltzman’s Fashion, Style, and Romance Tipscast – let me live my dream; Tonight Last Week – I’m not sure that’ll work; and Two Celebrities Phone it in and Take the Cash – I mean you have to adapt to the changing podcast market. Or, uh, Hot Rod and Dragster Ride Again. All those are possibilities, but that section is in the bin.
I think I said "Aww..." out loud about three times during that part. The little references! To Hot Rod and Dragster, that time in 2011 when Chris Skinner made a brief joke about those being fun nicknames for Andy Zaltzman and John Oliver and it was meant to be immediately forgotten, but the fans addressed emails to those names for years. The little reminder of how John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman spent the first few years of The Bugle really into the TV show 24, which sounded especially weird coming from Andy because he never likes anything that isn't sport or the music of Boney M, it's so rare to hear him be a normal person who gets excited about a mainstream thing in popular culture, to the point where he first started referencing 24 I thought he was being ironic, but eventually it became clear that he had actually binged every episode and just wanted to talk about it. And obviously he also threw in a reference to that show Week Last Tonight or whatever. Small references to Bugle history in the 2023 anniversary section.

Hi Chicken! Many times when I see a spell described, there is a part where it says 'write a petition to x spirit'. And I totally get the concept, but I tried to do some research and couldn't find anything concrete about the process. So I'm not really feeling confident with this method, as I'm not sure how one is supposed to go about writing these petitions. Coul you help me out a bit? :)
Hello :) You have come to the right inbox. I work a great deal with petitions. This is definitely just how I do things. I've never read like, books on spirit petitions or whatever.
The best advice on this I think is that to contact the spirit/entity and ask them for details. This is especially true if you're going to be working with the same guys over and over again.
In general, I find that successful petitions might contain some of all of the following:
Petitions do not have a word count limit. If it takes 3 pages to describe and define what you need, use three pages.
Poetry isn't required. I tend to write a majority of all my petitions in plain language prose.
Acknowledge the relevant powers the spirit possesses. Let's take our old trusty ally Rosemary as an example. Rosemary is helpful in matters of sleep, memory, and protection. If you are working up a petition for remembering your dreams, you might say:
"Rosemary, I'm calling on you to request help in the matters of sleep and dreaming."
Flattery. It helps. My current UPG is that Parent spirits like Rosemary, Chamomile, Obsidian, etc., are functionally demigods. As such, respect - even a degree of ego-fluffing - greases the wheels.
"Rosemary, I'm calling on you because you are famed among witches for your powers over sleep and dreaming. This spell is important to me, so that is why I want to request the help of such an effective and powerful spirit."
Clearly explain your goals and needs. I consider this to be different from a 'statement of intent'. In fact, I often do not have a crystalized single intent sentence when I write petitions. Put yourself on the throne of a monarch writing to a powerful wizard in order to request help. The more time you take to explain your needs, desires, and goals, the better the wizard will be able to help you. If it takes pages, let it take pages. A part of this is also understanding your own situation well enough that you can effectively communicate it.
[...] "I have been struggling to remember my dreams because my sleep schedule is so irregular. I struggle with insomnia. I would like your help so that I can have a healthy, balanced sleep schedule in order to remember my dreams."
I know some witches who struggle with writing petitions because they don't put what they actually want, they put what they think they are supposed to want, because they don't want to feel judged for their actual true needs. If you don't feel comfortable petitioning for what you actually want, that's fine - but don't expect to get what you want, either.
Define your limits and clarify your expectations. Basically, set boundaries :)
[...] "I have a job and night classes. Under no circumstances can I lose my job or stop taking those classes. My daytime schedule can't change - I just need to be able to fall asleep quickly after I go to bed, sleep soundly, and wake up refreshed."
Choose a termination date. The Gregorian calendar isn't great. There is no June 12th in nature. Measuring time by phases of the moon (until the next full moon), turning of the seasons (until the first leaf in my yard turns red), or other natural timings (from dawn to dusk) seems to work better. Another point of termination is simply when the spell works. Or, you may want the spell to be ongoing until you end it. That's fine too, but whatever the 'end point' is you should address it.
"I request this help until further notice."
"I request this help until the third full moon rises."
"I request this help until my sleep schedule becomes stable and manageable."
Offer payment. We may generally consider there are 2 kinds of payment: cost of materials, and hourly wages. When you hire a contractor to remodel your kitchen, you are paying for your new countertop and cabinets. But the contractor doesn't make money off of that - you still have to pay them their hourly wages.
We may consider that spirits are actively expending energy in order to help us. A bare-minimum payment should restore all the energy that they use (just as the contractor orders materials on their company card, and sends you an invoice). However, the spirit itself should also be paid above and beyond what it costs to help you.
For simple "go here and do this" petitions, a single lump-sum payment will often suffice. If your intent is to contract with a spirit for a prolonged period of time, I find that feeding the spirit (or "charging" the spell) on a regular basis - once a week or month, etc - tends to work very well.
For prolonged petitions, I will offer regular feedings and then a final payment once the terms are complete.
It is a good idea to communicate with the spirit ahead of time to determine what levels of payment are acceptable. Because if the terms aren't acceptable to the spirit, they seem to tend to simply not accept the petition :)
[...] "In exchange for these services, I will leave a small offering for you once per week. When the third full moon rises, I will pay you with a meal."
Definitely don't promise payment or an offering schedule you may not be able to deliver.
Set in a kill code. No, not killing the spirit 😅 ending the petition - a ripcord to exit the situation.
[...] "All of this I ask of you now in good faith; but if I draw a cross on this petition, and burn it while saying Rosemary, Help No More, please end all your actions on this matter - and I will still pay you as promised at that time."
Ask the spirit to accept the petition if it is all reasonable. Once you've set everything out, ask if they are agreeable.
[...] "Grandfather Rosemary, if everything I have said is suitable to you, I request your help: please aid me in my time of need."
(^^^ This is a great moment to throw a little extra flattery in)
To summarize:
Address why you have called this spirit - and see if you can do so in a flattering manner.
Clearly state what you want to happen. This may be paragraphs of explanation or only one sentence of intent.
Include limits and boundaries that you do not want the spirit to cross (if any).
Acknowledge either an end date, or state that you'd like this process to be ongoing.
Outline how you will repay the spirit for their services.
Include clear instructions for how you will end the spell before schedule if you need to do so.
Formally request that the spirit acknowledges your petition and accept it.
All of this can be very truncated. A petition might be multiple handwritten pages, or a handful of words. Not every single element needs to be included.
For example, I might include a 'kill code' when I create petitions for others so that they know how to end it, but I might not include one for my own petitions because I have relationships with my spirits and I can just talk to them and work it out.
Use of a pendulum may be of great assistance in order to hash out the details. But I have never had trouble with petitions where I present reasonable requests and offer fair pay.

🌊 for water signs: cancer, scorpio, pisces (apply sun, moon, rising, and venus)🌊
Tumblr media
It appears you are going through a period of change, whether that be in your external environment or just within yourself- with your perspectives, habits, etc- but as that change arises, it appears you are trying to resist or delay its outcome. This may be because it’s uncomfortable or you’re uncertain of whether it’s right for you. Either way, change is coming for the better. It might be that it brings up some challenges or obstacles, which is why you’re hesitating. It might mean you simply have to trust in yourself and the Universe at large. Understandably, this can be scary or you may not want to go through various challenges when you don’t know the definite outcome, but in order to progress in whatever way you want, you’re going to have to put yourself out there, so that you can come to a point where you are much more settled and happy within yourself or with your life. Seeing a part of your life come tumbling down after you’ve worked so hard is an uncomfortable feeling, but that destruction is needed in order for you to make space for something much more positive, aligned.
With big change comes big risk; you can’t have one without the other. In order for you to reach the goals or dreams you have, you’re going to have to take a risk here or there. Naturally, this is easier said than done. When we are feeling anxious, uncertain, or frustrated, it’s not so easy to sit with that or overcome that in some way. However, it’s important to take the time, so that you can start giving your emotions space. Give them space to express themselves, for you to acknowledge them, and to pour some love, understanding, and compassion on them.
You currently feel or have recently felt disengaged from whatever it is you’re doing. It might be a relationship, your job, where you live, your daily routine. Whatever it is, you’re feeling bored and unmotivated, or something has happened that has hurt or upset you; there’s not the excitement or the faith that there used to be or that you had hoped for. This doesn’t have to be a massive feeling or event, necessarily, but sometimes we just feel stuck or we feel like there isn’t as much spirit in our lives or within ourselves. We simply come to a standstill, emotionally speaking, no matter what you try to do to avoid it. You may be in this space now or have been recently. It’s understandable that you feel disappointed or frustrated, or simply tired. However, this is the exact time to be alert and to be open to new experiences, so that you can shake yourself out of the stagnation you’ve found yourself in.
You’re not finding a way to move on. Right now, you need movement or, at least, need to start contemplating how you can bring that to your life. This may be because you’re unsure about what is actually best for you, emotionally speaking, and you may even feel like there are obstacles that have arisen when you have tried to move forward. However, the root issue here is fear or doubt; you can’t move forward until you’ve addressed these feelings. Use this stagnancy or disappointment to spur you, to ask yourself if this is what you want, if you want to continue living or feeling this way. This hasn’t been an easy situation for you to sit in, emotionally, but it’s only a momentary rut. How momentary it is depends on you but you have every chance of overcoming this!
I know how easy it is to get caught up in an emotion, to let it overwhelm you, but in order for you to move forward, you need to examine what it is you’re refusing to accept or work on. Sure, some peace and quiet can be good for reflection but there are times when too much slowness becomes stale and you need to get up and go again. Know that you have the power here to change things around, to change your perspective. The opportunity’s there whenever you want to take it; the first step is acceptance. Whatever the situation, it may be difficult to face, to admit something’s not working, that there is something wrong, but in order for you to move forward, you need to first admit that this situation isn’t right for you. Think of this as a gentle nudge in the right direction. Don’t place any expectations on yourself or the situation, but just start being honest and notice what feelings come up.
It's hard to let something go. You’re a hard worker and you feel deeply; you may think you need to stay with this situation just because you don’t want to let it go. Yet, we sometimes don’t get the resolution we want or deserve and it’s important to address the feelings that come up with this lack of resolution. Don’t see this as giving up, being weak, or being less than just because you need to walk away, but simply acknowledge that you deserve better or that you’re not happy. Know when it’s time to leave or take a step back from a situation that no longer suits you or is bad for you. Instead of drifting back and forth uncertainly - not just physically but mentally and emotionally- what would it feel like to channel that energy inward and feel the sense of relief that arises once you manage to purge those emotions?
In the kindest way possible, you’re not addressing this feeling of stagnancy, of grief, disappointment, or hurt, and it’s time to do so. This situation is bringing up a lot of negative feelings. This can be uncomfortable, definitely, but once you begin to acknowledge this is the case, once you ask yourself- what can I learn from this?, you naturally start to heal. Give your mind, body, and soul the permission it needs to let go, to start releasing this stress or discomfort in your life. Painful experiences are just that painful- your feelings are valid, water signs. Don’t let anyone tell you different, but it’s also important to recognise the value in this, how you can learn from this to create a brighter and better future, and allow yourself to start moving on. Moving on can feel risky, emotionally speaking; we feel exposed and vulnerable. Yet, these experiences don’t define you. Your situation doesn’t define you. It was a difficult blip but look to the horizon- the sun always rises after the dark. This is about knowing you deserve better, that you deserve happiness, and it’s a time to come back to your values and beliefs, and adjust your life into a place that feels better for you.

[Unsent Letter] To R: Take Care.
'Cos we burnt out That's what you do When you have everything, it can't be true —-Kasabian, “Goodbye Kiss”
The broom and the mop are staring at me disappointed as if they know I am about to delay my house-cleaning plan for this crappy, whiny writing.
Sigh.
I am not in the right mind to write yet, but this is the only catharsis that I can think of at 2 AM. What just ended not fifteen minutes ago reminded me of the joy and agony of being your friend, of why we are the way we are today, of why it hurts as it should.
I haven't felt like this for a long time, so forgive me for being so fragile. The last time you called was over half a year ago when you informed me that one of the guys might be in trouble. We spent fifteen minutes forming an emergency rescue plan. To my relief, we never actually had to put it in motion, but that implies no more calls or any other chance of encountering you.
I wouldn't say I was disappointed. We had agreed to maintain the necessary distance and to keep things as casual as possible. With the pandemic going on, there have been no gatherings or weddings to attend to, thus eliminating the chance of us seeing each other for an entire year. I was busy, you were as well, and we successfully kept our minds off each other.
At least until tonight.
I was about to start my date with wangi hutan cemara when your name appeared on my screen. Naturally, I readied myself for yet another mission you might need me for because that's just the way it is with us: we don't call unless there's something potentially crazy going on with our pals that needs damage control ASAP.
But you didn't come bearing bad news. Your voice was calm and cheerful and there was music in the background. I asked suspiciously if there was anything to be addressed. You picked up my cautious tone and said maybe we need to do this more often so it would feel less like a duty call and more like a joyous occasion.
Been there, done that, I said satirically, and you laughed. Hearing it made me smile, and just like that, the ice broke. We began talking about our—my and your—pet turtles. I told you about this silly video I discovered on YouTube which you searched and watched right away. We laughed at it together through the phone. You told me about the funny things your dad did this past year and I proposed that—lo and behold—it could very well be a preview of your future.
For a moment there everything was light and bright. There were you, me, and Devendra Banhart. The stars, the moon, the tide. Waves and waves of laughter... eventually dying down.
Then you began asking how I was doing.
We've promised never to talk about our relationships, so I answered with some complaints about the stress and irony of my job. I threw the question back at you and we continued this dance of telling a story without truly telling the story. Expertly leaving clues here and there for each other to pick up and seam together.
At one point you asked me if I thought you were okay (which is weird now that I think about it), and I said something felt a little off.
You neither denied nor admitted it. And I let it slide. I was dying to know what could possibly have happened that gave you the need to confirm your well-being with me, but I couldn't let myself fall into the same pit all over again. I can't put myself in between that line again.
You must have sensed my wall building up because then you changed the subject. You started talking about your lifelong dream of living alone in a cabin by a lake. I alerted that that plan needs to be adjusted to current conditions, to which you responded with “yaddah, yaddah.”
You asked about my plan and I—for the umpteenth time—shared with you my fear and fondness of writing. You pointed out that I could be a damn good writer should I stop being chickenshit. You might be right but I hate it when you're right so I sincerely said fuck you.
We argued. Perfect enemies. Two stones crashing against each other, waiting for the final crack. We would've gone on all night had you not uttered that you missed this.
And before we knew it, we were back to the same conversation we had that awful night in that dreaded parking lot six years ago.
We're some old broken records, aren't we? Perhaps we never really grew up. No. We must have grown somehow, but not in the right way... if there is a right way.
Or, perhaps, there is a time portal that opens up every time we talk, sending us back to when everything was undecided. To when you were yours and I was mine and we had the freedom to own parts of each other the way we did.
When I shared that thought with you, you chuckled and said, “so you mean we're a thing out of sci-fi movies... instead of rom-com ones?”
I answered with a teensy laugh. I knew where that conversation would've led us. I knew what road we were heading to.
But that road had been long closed. So I pulled the brake.
This is the way I'm always leaving. —-Devendra Banhart, “This Is The Way”
I told you I gotta go.
I heard you exhaling. “We should do this again sometime.”
I swallowed a yes. Take care.
“Tell that to yourself first,” you replied.
Then there were the bye-byes, followed by complete silence.
I try to find consolation in thinking that this is one-sided. That to you, this was just another friendly phone call, not some long-awaited gasp of air. It pierces more to think that both of us are holding torches in separate darkness. Call me selfish but I want this burden to be mine and mine alone so that I wouldn't have to wonder if you're gonna be okay after everything.
Be that as it may, I think we did one hell of a good job. No promises are broken, friendship is kept safe, and lives are still going on the way they should. This is why we chose this path: we need to have each other without being scared senseless of the thought that it may not work out. We refused to make an irreversible commitment that may destroy years of friendship. We chose to have each other, at the cost of not having each other.
I am not going to defend the logic behind it because admittedly there are none.
It doesn't have to make sense to make sense. —-Ted Mosby
As you said, we'll continue this some other time. Maybe I'd be the one to make the call. And after that you'll be back to whatever it is you're doing and I'll be in front of a screen, writing a thousand words about us—or rather, the absence of us—as a coping mechanism. Words I won't be able to publish anywhere except anonymously because people—mine, yours, ours—are going to freak if they find out.
Maybe they'll find out eventually. Maybe we'll cave and tell them, but it's a headache for another day. For now, it's time I get back to my date... with the broom and the mop.
Until next time.
Take care.

How to Renovate Your Dream House: Four Things You Must Know
A dream house is where all your desires are met—the ultimate definition of perfection you always wanted to own. Take a moment to imagine what YOUR dream house should look like. You can convert your current home into the house of your dreams with some investment and proper knowledge. Building your custom home with the best home remodeling ideas is the best option to model everything you plan to have in your perfect place.
When tackling the challenge of remodeling your home to be your dream house, you must consider many things before diving into the real deal. Adding the right luxury furniture, beautiful ceilings, and excellent floor finishes, and other modern additions will flip your house into a completely different one.
It will help significantly if you know exactly what to expect and how to keep things moving smoothly to complete your home within months. Renovating your home always comes with a lot of surprises and hitches. The foremost thing you can do is brace yourself to face any challenge that might cross you off the road toward your dream house.
We are here to aid you in understanding what you must know before embarking on the journey of house remodeling. Read on for a better understanding.
Outline Your Goal
With clear goals and objectives, planning your home's renovation becomes easier. What are your personality and lifestyle? The perfect home addresses your personality and lifestyle needs in the best way possible. Your home shouldn't change your lifestyle, but you should remodel it to fit your personality. The build and decor of your home scream about yourself.
If you have family or a significant other, consider their needs and requirements before finalizing your goals. For instance, if your spouse loves luxury furniture, you can put that into your plan. If you have kids, a play area, an outdoor pool, or other entertaining additions should be one of your objectives.
You should also take into account the long-term value of your house. The land, structure, architecture, and investments in your home are vital. No matter how beautifully you design your home, it will be all for nothing if it doesn't stay intact for years to come.
To begin with, outline what you plan to do and how you want your house to turn out. You can also find inspiration for modern homes, and luxury living room furniture on social media platforms, home blogs, Pinterest posts, etc. So, sit at your table with a pen in your hand and write down all the goals you want to achieve in the end product of the whole process.
Plan Out Your Budgeting
After defining your objectives, the next step is determining how much you can spend on renovation. Building a home from scratch is difficult, but renovations are far behind. It takes much more budget to renovate a house than you can imagine. If money is not an issue for you, congratulations! You only need to determine the budget plan for each section of your home.
As confirmed with authorities, the average cost of building a house in the US is around $150 per square foot. But if you wish to have a luxury house with modern architecture and luxury furniture, it will cost you around $300 to $600 per square foot. But renovating is different; the cost varies considerably based on the contractors and the degree of work done.
On the other hand, if you have a limited budget but need the hour to renovate your home, do it thoroughly. Don't make the mistake of redeveloping here and there time and time again.  It will be uncomfortable and cost you much more than remodeling the whole house.
Before starting, you must set a realistic budget that you can afford. Instead of going all out, you can look for the sideways that can save you money. The cost of material and labor covers almost 70% of the total, while the rest is wrapped up in taxes, decor, landscaping, furniture, modern tables, etc. You can save money with a smaller floor plan, getting the supplies on deals, managing the tax credits and logistics, etc.
Contact The Right Contractor
Contractors play the most significant role when you invest your time, money, and efforts in realizing your dream house. Besides luxury furniture, a perfect home demands the hands of perfect people. From deciding on the exterior or interior to the modern tables to put in your living room, expert advice can help you improve your renovation plan.
As the builders carry out the task for you, you must select the best ones in the field that will help you realize all your plans while staying within budget. Often, the contractors pocket loads of money from your banks and still need to complete the tasks on time. You should ensure the contractor you are hiring is professional. The best tips for finding the right contractors are:
Please carry out your research on the contracting agencies and find out about their projects and reviews.
Find the most experienced people and teams skilled in laying out the style you want for your home.
Focus on the house styles and budgets of projects the agencies previously participated in.
If you need clarification, contact your connections, whose houses you find beautiful, and ask for the contractor's information.
The ability and skillfulness of the contractors can make or break your dream of a perfect house. So, please select the best one within your budget and check with them to determine the plan and how to execute it within the timeframe.
Protect Your Possessions
House renovations bring multiple surprises that you should brace yourself for. The delays, shifts, and inspections can take longer than anticipated. It is better to protect your belongings beforehand to spare yourself unnecessary trouble. Moving supplies and renovations here and there can harm your valuable things.
Remember to lock up your valuable items like jewelry, electronic devices, and essential documents to keep them away from any threats of theft or harm. Also, if you are only renovating a portion of your home, it is better to seal off the rest of the rooms and places to avoid getting them messed up. Get some plastic sheets to seal off the doors and cover the doorways.
Whether it is your modern luxury furniture or small, fragile decor items, you should store and move them out of the area under construction. Protect and organize your belongings before starting to create clutter throughout the house. You should also cover your floors and furniture with durable protective coverings.
Final Thoughts
After all their time, money, and efforts, all renovation plans have the owners aspired to have a perfect house—the plans to fit their home into the definition of perfection and boost their morals. But only thinking about the glorious living rooms with luxury furniture and radiating bathrooms won't do the trick. You must learn about all the necessary factors that must be considered before digging further into your home renovation.
With the few hacks mentioned above, you will get close enough to your fantasy of the best house. You must follow the proper steps at the right time and see your home become magnificent.

Jewelry dreaming
In a fantasy, stones and jewels mirror the things you esteem most as a general rule.
In our fantasies, gems can show up in different structures. In day to day existence, gems is a superficial point of interest. You value your relational connections and are an individual who can be trusted. The robbery of gems in a fantasy could address treachery. Or then again being tricked by somebody who doesn't have your wellbeing on a basic level. Wearing silver gems in a fantasy has a good implication. Since silver is related with the moon, the fantasy proposes that what's to come is splendid and that you ought not be worried about the wellbeing of your wealth. This fantasy could show that you are happy with your life.

Assuming that you say OK, all that will make sense.
What does dreaming about a huge piece of gems implies?
A colossal piece of gems in a fantasy addresses gratefulness and affirmation. Something you've achieved will be compensated. An individual will recognize that you played out an incredible work and will offer thanks to you. Your fantasy likewise predicts positive news in your expert and individual lives. THE CLUB
A serialized screenplay drama about EDM and an underground club.
by Buddy Garrison
**Listen to the above track while reading this script; imagine it in the scene**
INT. CAR - DAY
COR rubs his eyes. Not believing anything that is happening.
He looks around the interior of the sports car he is in, while driver is zooming through traffic on the 405.
Cor then looks ahead and sees the Los Angeles skyline. The one he had dreamed about, seen photos and films of, and now was here.
His hands shook.
The driver, WES, looked on. Wes was older, and good looking in the LA sense.
COR was younger, but his eyes and face her worn. His military tattoos sleeving his arms did not fit with the car he was currently in.
WES
You alright?
COR
It's a lot. All of it. Thanks for the ride.
WES
You looked like you needed one.
COR
Do you pick up a lot of people randomly at the airport?
WES
No. You looked like you needed help. And I just got off a flight.
COR
I thought you thought I was cute.
WES
I did.
COR
Oh.
Wes laughs.
WES
Midwest boy leaves the military and comes west. You got a lot to learn.
COR
All we have is Jesus and fields and each other. Country music. Guns. I didn't mean all we have like it was bad. I like it. Love it.
WES
We have that too. Just...it's different.
The music keeps thumping.
WES
So say again. She's not expecting you?
COR
I just texted her. She sent me the address to this club.
WES
Yeah, that place is trouble. The music is good. Hell, the vibe is too. But yeah. Trouble.
COR
I know. I gotta save her. I gotta bring her home.
WES
Some advice, Cor? If I can? I know we just met.
COR
Sure.
WES
This is Los Angeles. We're going to Hollywood, where the club is, which isn't what you think. She might not want to be saved. This ain't a movie. You saw stuff in your service, right? You saw combat?
Cor nods.
WES
And it changed you?
Cor nods again.
WES
This is going to change you. I envy you and feel bad for you. This chick doesn't deserve you.
Wes turns the music up louder and puts the pedal down.
Cor hadn't heard tunes like these. The constant beat and the synth and the way it made him feel, while in the car of some stranger.
The city came closer and closer. The music got louder and louder.
And the car went faster.
registered and copywritten.

Daddy’s Small Hero
Note: I’m back with another dad Bakugou fic bitches 😎 this time it’s Baku with an absolute chonk of a baby. Again, this entire thing was inspired by @hanji-is-life and the people who sent the amazing asks there. I can’t stop, they’re so good 😩 also idk how fast a baby’s development is. My little sister was a baby but that’s was 11 years ago- Criticism is welcome as always.
Warnings: cursing cuz bakugou, but just fluff overall. Not prof read
‘Had to go to the hospital quickly for an appointment! Katsumi and Sakura are at school already. Take Katsuo with you to the agency please!
-Y/N <3’
Bakugou sighed as he put down the note and headed to the living room where his son was. He woke up and was surprised to see you weren’t there in bed with him, and was only even more surprised he saw his son was awake in his playpen doing his thing. After finding the note tacked on the fridge however, he understood the situation.
Bakugou looked into the playpen and smiled. His son Katsuo. He looked exactly like his dad, ash blonde hair, red eyes, and an absolute monster of a baby. It’s not that he cried a lot, in fact he hardly cried at all. He was just extremely chunky. He was in 6 month clothes at 3 months old. He was a chunky baby, a chubby tummy and rolls on his arms and legs. Hell, he even had rolls for knees! He was currently in toddler clothes at 10 months old and was trying to shove his fat fist in his mouth. He took notice of his dad and started making grabby hands up at him.
Bakugou chuckled. “Hey squirt, ready to start the day?” His son gurgled.
Bakugou lifted his son up with a soft grunt. “Jesus, did you grow overnight? You get heavier every day.” His baby slapped a drool covered hand on bakugou’s cheek. “..I deserved that.”
After strapping on the baby carrier and putting Katsuo in front of chest, he began making breakfast. Starting with Katsuo’s. Sure, it was time consuming making breakfast for his infant son, but he refused to let him eat that processed shit from the store. Bakugou placed a strawberry and a banana on the counter. He wasn’t sure why he did this, but he let his son choose what fruit he wanted in his breakfast. He read somewhere it was good for development. “K, choose one brat,” he said softly. Katsuo stared before grabbing at the strawberry. “Good choice,” Bakugou responded before dropping a few strawberries in the blender and starting his breakfast. The entire time, he stirred up conversation with Katsuo.
“So what did you dream about last night?”
“Da!”
“You fought Endeavour himself and won?”
“Ba-da-ba!”
“No shit, what did you do after?”
“Baaab.”
“Nice. I’ll make note of that the next time I train then.”
After a quick breakfast and a diaper change, Katsuki made his way to the agency, baby bag in hand. It should be ok to take Katsuo today. All he had was paperwork and an interview. Katsuki didn’t want just ANYONE working for him. He needed to make sure those who were hired were reliable people. Bakugou stopped in front of the building and addressed his son in the harness, “this is where daddy works. He runs his own agency. Isn’t that cool?” Katsuo blew a little raspberry.
Almost all eyes were on Bakugou as he entered the building. They went from neutral to confused seeing a drooly baby harnessed on the pro hero’s chest, and even more confused seeing a baby bag in hand.
Ignoring all the prying eyes, Bakugou approached Kirishima, who also was gawking at the baby in the harness.
“What? It’s not a fucking alien, get a hold of yourself.” Kirishima’s eyes snapped back up and looked at Bakugou. He put a hand behind his head sheepishly. “Sorry, I’m just not used to seeing you with your son that often.”
“Hah!? Are you calling me a terrible dad?” Bakugou questioned as his eyebrows furrowed more.
“No! Just drop it, look the candidate for receptionist is already with the interviewer. Just make it quick, ok? And don’t send them running away in tears!” Kirishima called out as Bakugou grunted and walked towards his office. Bakugou stopped in front of his office door and addressed his son once again,
“This is daddy’s office. You excited to step inside?”
“Aa!”
“Well, today I am too.” Bakugou opened the door and saw some interviewer extra behind his desk and a female sitting across from it.
“Ah, you’re here Mr. Bakugou! Please, take a seat!” The interviewer chirped. Bakugou sat down in a chair on the side of the desk and unclasped the harness. He set Katsuo on a sitting position on the desk and dumped some toys there for his son. Katsuo took a chunky plastic block and immediately began to chew on it.
The female blinked. “Umm… is the baby staying here the entire time?”
Bakugou growled lowly. “He has a fucking name. It’s Katsuo. And yes, he is. That a fucking problem?”
“N-no, im sorry sir,” she replied as Katsuo cooed.
“Let’s get this started. What’s your name?” Bakugou said, calming down.
The female cleared her throat. “Akane, sir.”
The interview went along fairly smoothly, Akane answered the questions well and seemed reliable enough to work here, Bakugou noted as he played a bit with Katsuo. Still, Bakugou needed more convincing. He didn’t need another receptionist crying into his coffee cup in the mornings. The more the interview progressed, the more impatient Bakugou became.
“Can we hurry this shit up? It’s almost tummy time for Katsuo!” Bakugou barked. Both Akane and the interviewer jumped at the sudden outburst.
“Sorry Dynamight sir, just one more question and we’ll be done here.”
Bakugou huffed and put Katsuo on his lap, who was trying to shove the block in Bakugou’s face. He chuckled. “Stop that shit, that’s fucking gross, wasn’t it in your mouth?” Katsuo gurgled in response, still shoving the drool covered block in his dad’s face. Akane was distracted at this display. Dynamight, the number 2 pro hero, softening for someone? She didn’t think it was possible. Bakugou looked back up, scowling as he realized no one was talking. “The fuck are you looking at?” He growled at Akane.
Akane yelped and cleared her throat. “N-nothing! Just- just looking around” she said hurriedly as she straightened herself.
Bakugou squinted his eyes and looked down at his son. “What do you think of her, Katsuo?”
Katsuo was currently transfixed on shoving two chubby fingers in his own mouth. Once he finally did babble again, he slapped his thighs while bouncing up and down, making “da” sounds over and over. Akane thought the display was cute before Bakugou spoke up again.
“My son says you’re a terrible liar and that you’re on thin fucking ice.”
Akane shivered a bit. She was going to be here a while longer, wasn’t she?
A few more exchanges like that back and forth (Katsuo cooing and bakugou interpreting as a a threat), the interview finally ended.
Akane slumped on the wall outside the door and slowly sat herself down. God, that went terribly! She kept getting distracted by the baby! There was no way she was getting this job! She blew it-
Her thoughts were interrupted by a high pitched laugh. Akane registered it was coming from the office. Silently, she got up and peered through the door, which was slightly ajar.
Bakugou was blowing raspberries on his baby’s stomach while Katsuo laughed hysterically. Akane stood there dumbfounded. She never thought Bakugou was the fatherly type. Bakugou kept doing this and laughed along with the baby until he put them down in a sitting position. “Alright brat, it’s tummy time,” he grumbled as he spread a blanket on the desk and laid his son down on the blanket, back facing the ceiling. His son thrashed his limbs around a bit before calming down. Bakugou chuckled and pulled a couple toys out of his bag and settled them around Katsuo. His son tried moving around to grab the toys, cooing all the while.
Akane left before she was noticed. She was confused by this secret side of Bakugou.
Despite her doubtful thoughts earlier, Akane managed to land the job as the receptionist at Bakugou’s agency. She liked talking to the people she met everyday, and even met his wife a couple times.
Akane was typing away and noticed someone approaching from the corner of her eye.
“Hello, Mrs. Bakugou! How are you?”
You looked at Akane and smiled, carrying your son. “I’m just fine, thank you! I’m just wondering where Katsuki is!”
“Right here,” a gruff voice responded. Both females turned around and saw the hero approaching both of them.
You gave your husband a kiss and handed him Katsuo and a box wrapped in cloth.
“You forgot your lunch again, I’m starting to believe you’re doing it on purpose” you scolded.
Bakugou laughed and pecked your cheek. “I might start doing it intentionally if I get to see my beautiful wife and son more often at work.”
Akane observed this exchange before Katsuo turned his head towards her, looking at her with wide red eyes and made grabby hands that Bakugou paid no kind to. Akane, however, shivered and turned back towards the computer, typing more feverishly. Those red eyes that looked exactly like his father’s creeped her out ever since that interview. Sure, Katsuo was adorable, but what came out of his mouth was scary.

Everyday I wish I could read Tim’s stupid handwriting
sfhdgjfhjghd I imagine this is in reference to his letter from Batman #480? Cursive's use in comics can definitely be... disruptive to say the least.
Since I'm putting off things I should be doing rn here's a gift: Tim's full letter from that issue compiled and then transcribed!
Quick note that tumblr's current basic formatting doesn't seem to support regular underlining, so I will substitute underlining used for emphasis in the original text with bolding.
Tumblr media
(Batman #480)
“Dear Dad,
I wish we could go back and start over again! When I was a kid, I used to dream- to pray- that you and mom would stop travelling, forget business and just settle down. We’d be together, the way a family ought to be…
Now I have my wish. I’m going to be with you all the time. And it’s tearing me apart.
Funny, how once you never seemed to care- at least you never showed me that you did. And now you want to run my life.
Do you really think we can start over…?
I’ve no idea who you think I am, Dad- but I’m not that boy. I had to fend for myself for a long time. I changed, Dad. I have a lot of… secrets.
You couldn’t be more wrong about Bruce Wayne. Despite what he seems, he is the only truly great man I have ever known. He… helps people. And he never asks for anything in return.
I’m not interested in your business, Dad. I’ve already found my place in the world. I know what I want to be!
So how does it sound, Dad? Your own son is Robin. Understand now why I can’t come back? Gotham is a cesspool. Tragedy stalks on every street. I can help, dad. I’m needed!
Strange, how you can come to love a city. Even one as ugly and rotten as Gotham.
All those millions of people, the lines of their lives crossing, touching, tangling… almost as if the city itself is alive.
I love you, Dad- but I’ve found my place. I know who I am.
I’m part of my city.
Sometimes I wish we could start over… but I know we can’t. We have to take things from exactly where we are.
This might not make a lot of sense to you. I only hope you understand.
Your loving son, Tim."
For those unfamiliar with this issue, Tim then proceeds to throw the letter he wrote (which is addressed "To the Father I Never Knew") into the fire.

Writing this all out was... more of a venting thing for him above all else. But it definitely provides some interesting insight on he and Jack's relationship early on, before getting into the stuff we actually encounter ourselves during Robin.

Thanks everyone for the prompts! I decided to try and knock these all out in one go:
@thegirlwhotrashcans: remember, you asked for it. au, nobody dies, wwx and yanli bodyswap. they're married to lwj and jzx. 100% crack. bonus points if jin zixuan completely loses his shit and lwj looks very calm but loses his sh*t after everything is back to normal
@alightbuthappypen: Competency kink! One or both of them (when I say 'them' I mean wangxian obvs, I know what I'm about) getting hot and bothered about the other being amazing. On a nighthunt maybe? Or anywhere else that strikes your fancy!
@hearteyeswangji: WRITE MORE P*RN
I think I can manage that. With a few tweaks, accidental seriousness, and broad, ridiculous fix-its tacked on. I have no idea how long this might be. Let’s try it in installments? I’ll reblog and add on as I go. Maybe it’ll be fun. We’ll find out.
Disclaimer that this is just gonna go for it with no revising and no beta readers, so pls do not hold me to any conceivable standard of coherency thx
--
WILL INCLUDE: wangxian, xuanli, let jyl and lwj be friends agenda, canon divergence, fix-it, everybody lives, arranged marriage, bodyswap, light angst, getting together, Attempts at Comedy, eventual (light?) wangxian smut
The Sunshot Campaign has just been won. Everyone goes over to Jin Guangshan’s house after the Nightless City banquet, to Negotiate Stuff, and some hasty political marriages happen resulting in Xuanli Wedded Bliss and Wangxian Un-confessed Wedded Tension. Then, suddenly...a curse befalls our brave heroes.
--
Wei Wuxian wakes suddenly, feeling odd. He’s sleeping on his stomach for one thing, which is not his usual, but he feels warm and comfortable enough that he doesn’t think it strange. But then there is the scent of peonies and gardenias, which is both familiar and alien, somehow. It makes him open his eyes.
Which is when he sees the hand before him on the bolster. It is slender and elegant. Small. Pale. Familiar? Wearing a jade bangle. He pushes himself up a bit, startled, only to see the hand move when he does.
The hand. Is his hand. He stares at it. The shock of it, coupled with the early hour, leave his mind working very slowly.
At length, he becomes aware of an odd weight across his back, which then shifts. Wei Wuxian turns.
He is met with the sleepy, moon-eyed stare of one Jin Zixuan, still cradling him in his arms.
“What the fuck,” says Wei Wuxian. His voice is. Soft. And high.
He would think this was all some messed-up dream if not for the fact that his dreams of late have all been messed up in an entirely different way. He’s also certain, in an odd, detached way, that he never would have imagined the battle scars that mar Jin Zixuan’s distressingly visible skin.
Jin Zixuan’s brow furrows, and he blinks. “A-Li?”
“...What the fuck.”
~~~
When Lan Wangji wakes at his customary hour, he is just slightly more tired than usual. The coverlet over him is oddly heavy, but he does not give it any thought until light from the rising sun slips over an unfamiliar sill and into his eyes. His entire body goes tense as he remembers.
Jinlintai. The long hours of debate, of negotiation. The hasty marriages.
He sits up in his strange bed and turns. There, in the bed opposite, is Wei Ying’s sleeping form. Close, yet still distant. Safe, at least.
Lan Wangji relaxes, and takes a breath. It was a near thing, keeping the sects from demanding more and more from Wei Ying, from treating him like a criminal instead of the hero he is. But somehow, Jiang Wanyin and Xiongzhang ended up on the same page, defending him, working tirelessly toward a compromise with the more critical parties. And now Lan Wangji has the dubious honor of ‘keeping Wei Ying in check,’ as Yao-zongzhu so inelegantly put it, through marriage.
A strictly political marriage. A convenient solution. To bind them together, to keep Wei Ying tied under the umbrella of Lan Wangji’s rigid honor.
It is unclear, as of yet, if Wei Ying resents this arrangement. He has not been himself since Nightless City, and the destruction of Wen Ruohan’s forces. First his long coma, then a lingering tiredness that he has not seemed able to shake, which dampens his normally-vivid expressions of feeling.
Lan Wangji is worried. But this, at least, Wei Ying has made clear is unwelcome. He seems to want to pretend that nothing has changed. Not about himself, and not between the two of them. Lan Wangji has done his best to honor his wishes, despite everything.
Now, he rises and dresses before sinking into his morning meditation. It is still strange to do so fully dressed, weighed down by the propriety required for the public, but it has felt necessary, now that Wei Ying shares chambers with him. A physical manifestation of the barrier between them, more important than ever now that they are, bizarrely, married.
Before his meditation is finished, he hears Wei Ying stir. It is unusual for him to wake so early. Lan Wangji’s eyes snap open, immediately searching him for signs of pain.
Wei Wuxian turns over, then goes very still. He sits bolt upright, searching the bed with wild eyes, then turns them on the room at large. When they land on Lan Wangji, he curls in on himself, the fingers of one hand tightening at the collars of his sleeping robe, clutching it closed.
“La—Lan-er-gongzi?”
His voice is oddly breathy, and his eyes...they are wide with confusion, with just the slightest tinge of fear. Lan Wangji is struck nearly senseless by the term of address, aberrant in Wei Ying’s mouth.
“What is wrong?”
Searching the room again, Wei Wuxian moves toward the edge of the bed with a strangely graceful modesty. It looks alien on his long limbs. “My...my husband. Where…?”
The word jolts through Lan Wangji’s entire body. He has never heard Wei Ying say it before. He has...wanted to hear it. Dearly, he realizes suddenly. But it sounds wrong. Distressed. Everything Wei Ying says sounds wrong.
“Wei Ying,” he says.
Wei Ying’s eyes snap to his. “A-Xian? Where is he? Is he with A-Xuan? Are they alright?”
Lan Wangji blinks at him, uncomprehending, for several seconds. Then he begins to understand.
“You are not—”
The doors to their chambers burst open, and Jiang Yanli rushes in. The tasteful purple and gold robes she has adopted in the few days since the weddings are loose, uncharacteristically askew—not impreprietous, but verging on it. She spots Lan Wangji and her stormy expression clears.
“Lan Zhan,” she says, and her shoulders droop.
Lan Wangji blinks at her, thrown by her use of this name, then glances at Wei Ying, who has gone completely still, his mouth open in a small, shocked ‘o.’ Jiang Yanli follows his gaze and freezes.
Just then, Jin Zixuan comes barreling into the room, significantly more unkempt than his wife. He has not even tied back his hair.
“A-Li,” he implores, “what’s happened? We can’t just go barging into our guests’,” he pauses, and bows awkwardly, hastily, to Lan Wangji and Wei Ying in turn, “rooms like this. Please,” he takes her arm, but she shakes him off.
She’s still staring at Wei Ying. “Sh...Shijie?”
Wei Ying startles, and looks down at himself. He holds out his arms, his hands, and looks at those too. Then he looks up at Jiang Yanli. “A-Xian?”
“Shijie,” Jiang Yanli says, and slumps over to the bed, embracing Wei Ying.
“A-Li,” hisses Jin Zixuan, scandalized.
Lan Wangji glances at Jin Zixuan’s wife embracing his own husband on the bed, and rises. He walks briskly past them all to shut the door. Then he returns.
“Wei Ying,” he says again. Jiang Yanli looks up at him.
It is obvious, now that he has realized it. Her face, animated by his personality. The soft warmth of her eyes sharpened just so. The deliberately graceless way she threw herself—himself—into Wei Ying’s—no, Jiang Yanli’s—arms.
Lan Wangji takes a deep breath. “Is this a curse?”
“Yes,” Wei Ying says with Jiang Yanli’s face, but his own certainty.
“How can we break it?” Lan Wangji asks.
“I”m not sure, not yet. I need to try a few things—or—having the original curse would be safer.” He looks at his sister in his own body. “I...don’t really want to experiment with this.”
Jiang Yanli tsks and bumps his shoulder a little too forcefully, jostling Wei Ying in her currently slight form. “Vain,” she says, teasing.
“Shijieee,” he whines. It sounds bizarre in Jiang Yanli’s voice. “I don’t want to accidentally hurt you.”
“I know,” Jiang Yanli says, soothing.
“Do you feel alright?” Wei Ying goes on, urgent.
“Perfectly alright, now that you’re both here,” she says, smiling at the newcomers in turn.
Something sharply acidic surges in Lan Wangji’s stomach at such a look on Wei Ying’s face, directed at...Jin Zixuan.
“Really, though,” Wei Ying presses, “any nausea? Dizziness? Pain? You’re not worried?”
“Not at all. Our A-Xian will figure it out.”
Lan Wangji watches as the appearance of Wei Ying’s knuckle affectionately brushes Jiang Yanli’s nose.
Strange. It is all...so strange.
“If—”
“What is happening?” Jin Zixuan interrupts.
All three of them look at him. He stares between them, wild-eyed and desperately askew. Lan Wangji has never considered him to be particularly slow on the uptake, but he supposes allowances must be made for the stress of waking up with a stranger in one’s bed.
He does not care to investigate the perverse pang of jealousy he feels at the thought.
“A-Xuan, it’s me,” Jiang Yanli says. Jin Zixuan stares at her in Wei Ying’s body, uncomprehending. She goes on slowly, but not unkindly. “A-Xian and I have been cursed into each other’s bodies. He’s in there, and I’m in here.”
Her husband blinks several times, very quickly. Lan Wangji recognizes the moment it sinks in by the deep flush that rises across his entire face, and is certain he does not wish to know what precisely inspired it.
Jin Zixuan takes an involuntary half-step back, then forward again, as he speaks with renewed urgency. “Why has this happened? Can it be undone?”
“Great questions,” Wei Ying says, falsely encouraging. Lan Wangji exchanges a glance with him, and it almost feels natural, to share such a thing with either Wei Ying or Jiang Yanli. “Someone was clearly either targeting me—that’s Wei Wuxian, that’s me, in here—or you...whom you know to be Jin Zixuan. I hope.”
Jin Zixuan turns a deeper shade of red. “Obviously,” he bites out. “But why?”
Wei Ying rolls his eyes dramatically. It is not something Lan Wangji ever imagined Jiang Yanli doing.
“We don’t know yet, but we will once we find and question the person responsible,” Wei Ying says. Jiang Yanli grips his arm suddenly. Wei Ying looks at her. “And yes, it can be undone. Of course it can. I’ll figure it out.”
“Cast a rebound,” Lan Wangji says, brisk. The more quickly they are done with this, the better.
Wei Ying’s face falls. “Ah,” he says, “well, we…”
“My cultivation is too weak for him to reliably use,” Jiang Yanli says suddenly. “And I’m not very good at the method, I’m afraid.”
Lan Wangji nods. Steps forward. Then hesitates. “If the curse was cast in such a way, one of you may end up in the caster’s body. And they in yours.”
They all look at Jiang Yanli. Her expression grows grim. “Alright,” she says, then looks to Lan Wangji. There is something steely in her expression that is familiar on Wei Ying’s face. “Thank you for the warning. Go ahead.”
Lan Wangji hesitates only a moment longer, expecting protests from the other two. But Wei Ying is wearing a small, knowing smile, and Jin Zixuan merely nods at her, reassuring. Lan Wangji senses his esteem for the Jin heir rising at such solid trust in his wife.
He steps forward and casts the rebound. They all hold their breath.
Wei Ying glances around, his wry expression entirely foreign on Jiang Yanli’s face. “Anything?”
“No,” says Jiang Yanli.
Wei Ying sighs. “More work for us, then.”
“A-Xian,” Jiang Yanli says, taking gentle hold of his wrist. “You know what this means.”
“Ah?”
“You’ll have to be me.”
“Ah. No, I—”
“A-Xian.”
Wei Ying scratches his head, a not-at-all ladylike gesture. “Or we could just stay in here and let these two investigate?”
The smile Jiang Yanli turns on him is tender, and knowing, and indulgent. “I’d like to see you try to sit still when there’s a puzzle to solve.”
He sighs. “Alright. But you have to be me, too.”
She nods, and theatrically slouches into a sprawling, sloppy posture. Wei Ying laughs, his head thrown back, a hand on his stomach. Jin Zixuan turns around, looking almost ill.
Lan Wangji understands, and he doesn’t. It is dizzying, and distinctly wrong-looking, to see both of them this way. Yet there is also something endearing about it. About the parts of them that do overlap, and fit into each other better than one would expect.
“A-Xuan,” Jiang Yanli calls softly, noticing her husband’s distress.
Lan Wangji gets the distinct impression that that tone in Wei Ying’s voice is not helping the situation.
“Jin-gongzi,” he says. “It would be best for all of us to go about our days as normal, and not to arouse suspicion. Wei Ying sleeps late, and will not be missed for the morning. Jin-shao-furen may claim mild illness until the afternoon. But you and I must behave as normal. There are still the other sects to host.”
“Yes,” Jin Zixuan says absently. He runs a hand over his face. “Yes. You’re right. A-Li—” he turns and looks at the pair of them on the bed, and pauses. He shakes his head as if to clear it. “I’ll go back and dress. Join me when—or—Wei—” he stops. “I will be attending my duties. Please let me know what else I can do.”
“Remember to act natural,” Jiang Yanli says. “When A-Xian joins you later, try to look less like a roasted tomato, hmm?”
Jin Zixuan’s mouth twists into a wry smile, and he nods at the floor, then flees the room. Jiang Yanli and Wei Ying turn their eyes to Lan Wangji.
“I shall also depart,” he says. He circles his arms to bow to Jiang Yanli, but Wei Ying stands and pulls him over toward the door. Lan Wangji lets him, and tries not to pull away from the improprietous touch from a married lady.
“Lan Zhan,” he says, hushed and urgent. “I’m not...you don’t think I’m hurting her, am I? Just by being in here? Can you sense any resentment?”
Lan Wangji feels something tighten in his chest. Wei Ying has not let Lan Wangji so much as examine his pulse since he roused from his coma, but the idea that he is so constantly steeped in resentment as to cause worry that his very soul may be harmful...is distressing. He takes hold of his slender wrist carefully. It is still Jiang Yanli’s body, and he will treat it with the respect it is owed.
“I cannot,” he says. The only energy in Jiang Yanli’s body is generated by her own small but steady golden core. “I sense nothing that may be harmful.”
Wei Ying lets out a relieved breath. “Alright. But, um. What about the other way? Is her...is my body harming her?”
Lan Wangji turns to go back and perform the same examination, but Wei Ying stops him. “No, that’s alright. I’ll. We’ll just get this over with, and we can. Between the two of us, we can fix whatever...whatever damage I do.”
Lan Wangji stares at him, but Wei Ying refuses to meet his eyes. At length, he nods. “We can.”
“Alright. Ah, thanks. You should go.”
Lan Wangji goes.
