“Parting” (pre-execution note)
To my wife
Sometimes I'll visit in your sleep
as an unexpected and unwanted guest.
Don't leave me outside on the road -
don't bar the doors.
I will come in quietly. Slowly, I will sit down,
and I will gaze into the dark to see you.
Once I've looked at you for long enough -
I will kiss you, and then leave you.

If it wasn't for humans writing on the walls we wouldn't know our stories. Fuck this dull world, vandalize the buildings that keep us caged. Graffiti is the purest communication with the future.

ON VIOLENCE
(A found poem inspired by Vijay Prashad and Frantz Fanon)
A civilization
that tolerates high
levels of
hunger
among its people
is a violent
civilization.
A civilization
that tolerates high
levels of
unemployment
among its people
is a violent
civilization.
A civilization
that needs a police
force to stop
hungry people
from getting food
is a violent
civilization.
The violence comes
prior to looting.
Colonialism
was looting.
Capitalism
is looting.
How is it possible
that rich countries
have such high
levels of
hunger
when there is food
all around?
If you don’t have money,
you can’t have food.
That is an act of violence.
It is a violence
against humanity.

be weary of people who do not use facts to inform their positions, but instead try to alter reality to fit reinforce their beliefs
you cannot correct them, because they do not care. objectivity is inconvenient, and facts are fungible. they delight in the control they weild.
but reality cannot bend. they will make you believe in their control, but it is just as false as the lies they use to weild it. they will keep pulling on the world, trying to bend it, but it will not.
if they are allowed to bend with all their might, the world will break. they will run to save themselves and let others die in a world shattered into pieces at their hands. but they cannot run forever, and soon, they too will fall. they will fall through ground they thought they could make solid with their lies. but canyons heed no words, and gravity cares not for their cries.

Revolution
Ask the moon, chaperon among the stars.
For who was it, we fought O'er wars.
Was it not for you, blood ran rivers shy,
Or did you think it was some omen, oh my?

Red like roses, red like blood
I know what they will write about me
After I am gone and dead
They will write that I betrayed my ideas
They will sigh and mourn the once promising rebel
But they will be lying
I did not betray my ideals
No, I tried to hold on to them
Like roses with a hypnotizing smell
And I kept holding onto them
when the thorns started growing
But even then I didn't stop
I watched them pierce my skin
I watched the blood poor into the ground
And pretended it was holy blood, the blood of Jesus
No, I didn't betray my ideals
They betrayed me
They turned into stardust and fell to the mud
And left me with two choices
To drag myself into the ground like a worm
With hopes of finding a little piece of what they once were
Or to let them go forever
I chose the second
I would narrate this story from the beginning
But there's no point in this
As if anyone will ever be able to think of this beautifully raging Beginning
Without thinking of the bitter End
And the cries of its so called traitors
That's the story of what could have been my legacy
But instead became the scar I left behind

Equality
The greatest generals, kings and priests
Now resting e’er in houses grand.
Are paupers given equal stone
When death does offer out his hand?
Or are they low and buried cold
With but a name on common rock?
Forgotten, dead. They’ve not the fame
Afforded those with gates and locks.

Tegan and Sara
and you think I'm up to no good
'cause words like vegan scare ya
when I'm just rolling through your hood
bumping Tegan and Sara
you called me a terrorist
when I was opposing fascists
like Santa making your list
like Judy about to smash it
pushing for equality
and moreso equal protection
your concerns were property
and the white to insurrection
so we are not the same beast
but that fact shouldn't be scary
should have dialog at least
and then help each other carry
whatever load we're facing
we know that it takes a village
but we're done interfacing
if you want to rape and pillage
and you think I'm up to no good
'cause words like vegan scare ya
when I'm just rolling through your hood
bumping Tegan and Sara
you have called me a snowflake
when I supported safe spaces
because when you get irate
you are all up in folx faces
you're the ones with the meltdowns
losing your shit and starting fights
if a mermaid ends up brown
or if dwarves and elves are not white
so, yeah, we are not the same
which should be a good, but it's not
'cause you want to frame this game
around your disease and your rot
sorry to be a hater
but that is more nightmare than dream
go work on yourself, player
and learn to be part of a team
yet you think I'm up to no good
'cause words like vegan scare ya
when I'm just rolling through your hood
bumping Tegan and Sara
you called me a socialist
admittedly that one's closer
claiming it's bad, you insist
it's deadly, discussion over
prefer exploited workers
and a wealth gap that's exploding
all as our nation suffers
with the workers' wills corroding
so we are not the same beast
which is not meant to be scary
but you've set a toxic feast
to sustain our bestiary
it's chemicals forever
poisoning each of these systems
the old ways must be severed
if we're going to resist them
and you think I'm up to no good
'cause words like vegan scare ya
when I'm just rolling through your hood
bumping Tegan and Sara
you have called me a hippie
'cause I care about the planet
told me to “go hug a tree
we don't do compassion, dammit”
when what you really mean is
that the conditions of your birth
made you, a selfish penis,
who has far overplayed their worth
so yeah, we are not the same
yet somehow I'm the deviant
because I'm pushing for change
that you deem inconvenient
sorry to be a hater
but that shit is too short-sighted
we can't afford to cater
to those who are profit-minded
yet you think I'm up to no good
'cause words like vegan scare ya
when I'm just rolling through your hood
bumping Tegan and Sara
yeah you think I am cold and gruff
'cause I'm pushing for progress
and you think we've come far enough
and are fine with this distress
you've called me a lot of things
to try and undermine my words
never were you listening
not once were any of them heard

I don’t know why but I feel like the whole thing of “classical music improves your brain and intelligence” kinda seems like classist and racist to me. like maybe people who listen to classical are better at certain stuff because those things are inherently tied to wealth because of how this country is set up, so it’s not the music, it’s the racism.

We're taking it back
In this world
we spend to forget.
Like cattle we wait in lines
to fill our heads with fantasy,
our hands with technology,
our ears with music.
Desperate attempts to connect to something,
to feel like we're not alone in
a world that forgets us,
silences our voices and shuts out
what it doesn't want to hear.
I used to have a life, a mind,
a will to change and grow and laugh and live,
but they've stripped it from me,
told me I was worthless.
They force us to see their view
and punish those that disagree.
Don't ask so they won't tell.
Don't complain because they don't care.
Don't question and they won't answer.
Don't doubt because they are right.
America is right, and how dare you question her?
Bit by bit, the wall of ignorance comes up.
And Lady Liberty lays trampled, unrecognizable behind the Wall they want to build
between corporations and the ones who fight against them.
And they know we use their empires against them,
form our rallying cries on their platforms,
spread messages of hope and progress across the globe.
That's why Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Walmart, all of them try to suppress us,
to keep us poor and ignorant.
But we no longer use music and fiction
to forget the harsh realities of our world
but instead as a fire to gather round,
a cleansing fire that will set us all on equal ground.
