Apparently in my absence this post had its 1000-notes-iversary.
This time we get to see the culprit responsible for ruining our heroes' lives as well.
I've really missed you guys, by the way. I know I've said that already, but I'm serious. Once or twice this year I've been right on the brink of coming back but schedule stuff always keeps me from letting myself commit to that again, and that in turn has kept me from posting anything at all. But I've been in an unexpected drawing mood lately and so if I can get enough stuff to set up a queue we might pretend I'm back for a month or so sometime this year. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see. No promises though. That's why I'm hiding this paragraph under the cut.
Transcription:
[Beren:] "Uhhh...barkeep...I think he's had enough now..."
[Tolkien:] "No, I don't think he has...!"

sunday six (be the change you want to see in the world edition)
so, uh, everyone skipped it this week? ok. here's some kuwagami for you anyway
“Could you actually put some effort into this and not make it that obvious?” he tries to sound offended or at least condemnatory. It’s hard to gauge how successful he’s been, with the thunder of his heart in his ears blocking that kind of nuance.
Kuwana scoffs, “Can you not play hard to get? Or should I make the reservations at a fancy restaurant next time?”
Yagami rolls his eyes. But he is too tired to be angered by that. “Well, at least that’d be an actual effort from you, for once.”
Kuwana erupts with laughter (Yagami can’t help but smile in return) and pushes himself away from the wall, the e-cig in his hand, ready to go. “Okay, but you should dress all pretty for me. Not one of your lazy disguises. And do something with your hair, obviously, there’s no proper place that’d let you in with this shag on your head.” He tries to hook one of the curls with his vape, and Yagami takes this second to push the memories of Kuwana loving to pull on this very shag away.
“You’re one to talk.” Yagami looks over Kuwana trying to find any particular feature it’ll be easier to mock. “I don’t even know where to start.”
Yagami wishes he meant it in a bad way, but Kuwana is the direct reason why his tastes in men have become so trash lately. Because watching him, Yagami can't not think that in some kind of sense, Kuwana is really beautiful. The soft expression when he’s not frowning, his plush bow-like lips, and the sparkle in his eyes which Yagami’s been seeing more and more lately… Some nights, Yagami even regrets that he can’t, in any way or circumstance, fall in love with him.
Kuwana’s lips slowly stretch into a shit-eating grin, “You really can’t find anything to say? Or am I just so mesmerizing you lost your thought?”
Some nights he doesn’t.
“Oh, shut up already,” Yagami growls and looks around.

oh em gee hourlyhanamura anon.... i am in thoughts with your tweet.....
maybe souyaoi is fairy prince yosuke x devil yu and souyuri is fairy princess yurisuke x devil yuri.....
thinking more on it, would yu (or yuri) be something like an agathos daimon? it would be funny if he was like a devil n stuff (evil but also very nice) but i feel like he'd fit in more with that (but still can and will go ham on whoever dares harm his friends and family)
small yosuke my beloved..... of course he can go to a bigger size (which is still shorter than yu's height, and no, he's definitely NOT pouting or sulking about it), but his usual size is like tiny......
yosuke kissing yu on the cheek but he's so tiny.... so he gives multiple kisses.... yu trying to kiss yosuke but its so hard trying to kiss his tiny bf... peppers his tiny face with his kisses... makes him more flustered than ever after yu's done..
yosuke has like bad luck for a fairy and it's kind of bothering his life as a prince, so maybe he tries to find out how to improve it and stumbles across agathos daimons. so yu gets summoned, takes one look at yosuke and is instantly enchanted by him. (not like yosuke's any better—his brain immediately tried to blurt out "you're really hot" the moment he saw yu)
unfortunately, when yosuke tries to ask him for help regarding his bad fortune, a stray gust of wind sends him flying right into a hole in the ground, and of course yu rescues him and immediately agrees to yosuke's request.
definitely not for any other reasons pertaining to yosuke. the fact that yu has to be near yosuke 24/7 doesn't mean anything, i swear

HALLEJUAH!! I REMEMBERED HOW TO ACTUALLY FINISH WRITING SOMETHING FOR A CHANGE!!
Of course, it's not any of the fics I wanted to finish. I went back to what is essentially my bread-and-butter now and wrote a short-ish, random OrangeHook fluff. But considering how much writing's been a struggle as of late, I'm just glad that I successfully finished something. I was back in one of those stretches where I couldn't seem to write much of anything. And this fic isn't about their age difference or Hook being a cuddlebug, so...progress?
Unless I decide I completely hate it (which is always a possibility) expect something to drop on Valentine's Day, tis the season, after all.

Every time I rewatch some episode of Boueibu HK I wonder again how the staff even planned this season. Like. Almost nothing meaningful happens with the characters
TLDR the characters with the most developement in HK are the monsters
Kyoutarou is there as a complete contrast to Yumoto while keeping the battle speeches so his characterization doesn't make much sense. Nanao is mere fujoshi bait. Taiju and Taishi have random bits of dialogue that hint at possible arcs for s2 but not enough to tell us what it really is. Maasa has an unfinished arc in his episode, where supposedly he's putting fatty butter in his cookies to make everyone else overweight because he resents Ichiro not defending him when they were little, but then his friends tell him it's fine and then he can move on??? This would work with Ichiro's theme of not wanting to be immature or dense anymore, except they only ever used this theme as a gag (misunderstanding the meaning of whatever the others have said) or to straight up humilliate him (ep4) and continue treating him like a stupid baby. At the end of the season Maasa and him have made peace somehow and that's it. Ata gets in my opinion the closest thing to a complete arc, even if it's just staring angrily at Kyoutarou for ten episodes, then explaining his problem while fighting him and finally getting his apology and reconcilliation. At least it's something. And poor Ryouma is just there to be the butt of a few jokes about how he lets Nanao and Kyoutarou use him, be in a couple of cute shippy scenes, and also for Ata to completely dismiss him from the flashbacks to the point where if they had first met in high school nothing would've changed.
The relationships barely have developement either. Love had anime episodes and manga chapters dedicated to the different close friendships solving their conflicts and becoming closer. There were also many instances of seeing how close the Hakone brothers-defense club and Beppu brothers' relationships were, and even though they didn't have any conflict between themselves, they made them strong sides for the final fight. Yumoto didn't get a character arc but through the entire anime he was revealed to be strong, considerate, forgiving and mature, willing to kindly befriend the Beppu twins for his brother but not let them walk all over him; contrary to how he was presented in the first episodes, like a stereotypical magical girl protagonist. Anyway in HK there's no meaningful conflict between any of them besides Kyoutarou and Ata. Taishi and Ichiro argue constantly but don't show to genuinely like each other after all like IoRyuu or EnAtsu did. Ichiro and Maasa never make any progress to be together again, Maasa hints once at liking Taishi and nothing comes from it, and Nanao and Taiju have the most artificial friendship in the cast that I just do not understand. They just ran an ice cream shop once with again unexplained success and make sassy remarks at each other ever since. And I guess Karurusu and Furanui had a bit of developement thanks to Kyou and Ata in ep12. Idk about the aliens, this time it's like they didn't do it completely well but also not as bad as with the rest of the cast. Maybe bc they didn't appear as much as the humans in most of the episodes
I'm realizing now that a few of these complaints are related to Nanao acting weird
Idk where to put this but I'd like to point out Kinshiro's principles of halting the fight with the Battle Lovers as soon as he finds out that the s1 conflict was set up for a reality show and actively defending them from an attack because they're Binan students, despite still not having received his apology from Atsushi. Ata might've done the same if the HK finale's events had gone in the same order (travelling to Honyalaland to fight Wao, then Kyoutarou apologizing to Ata), but he doesn't feel as a character as deep as Kinshiro in that sense bc they didn't really show him to be in other ways.
Love feels more like an actual group of people while HK feels like they were filling in friendship group roles or something

my toxic trait is that on my blogs i tend cater my muses, and in Elena's case she cant sit still and keeps dropping things to start new things.
So consider this like..... a heads up I will probably be dropping a lot of threads but im ok with starting new ones!
Sorry for being trash, I'll try to keep these going for more than 5 notes.

listen I do not follow a lot of canons and certainly not a lot of duplicate muses so please know that when I am asking you about your canon characters I am literally referring to you as the resident and foremost expert on that character. you are the professor and I am the student, and I have come to learn about what you are teaching, i.e. your muse. I will not question you, I am not the expert, you are. what you say is automatically truth, fuck everything else. you and only you hold the answers I seek, and thus I respect the answers you are inclined to offer. please know this.
