And the Haters are at it again...
Trying to convince everyone within earshot that BC is about to be replaced as Doctor Strange.
Gator posted an "anon" comment about actors being replaced by Disney/Marvel. They ended the post with...
Tumblr media
"
And of course Gator posting this is to shore up the Hater narrative that BC's marriage is ruining his career! But looking closely at the examples given in the post and it's easy to see just how stupid and flimsy this whole "he can be replaced if he doesn't stop "The Sham" narrative is.
I'm not going to post the actual anon screed (it's VERY poorly written) but I will go over the actors cited by this "anon" as ones dumped by Disney/Marvel and you can decide if their problems are comparable to Ben's situation.
First we have Letitia Wright. The anon introduced the post with a article from "D-listed" gossiping about the possibility of LW being replaced Michaela Coel in the Black Panther sequel. Not that she HAS replaced LW but that they think she might. Reasons... well for one thing LW apparently went on an anti-vax, anti-science rant on Twitter and then deleted said offensive material but not before it was seen by a LOT of people. To quote from the speculative piece -
"As you may recall, last December Leticia squandered much of the goodwill she earned playing the smartest scientist in all of the MCU when she shared a bat-shit video from self-proclaimed profit Tomi Arayomi in which he “questions the legitimacy of the COVID-19 vaccination, appears sceptical of climate change, accuses China of spreading COVID-19, and makes transphobic comments.” After sparring a bit on Twitter with folks who thought it wasn’t so cool for the person playing the smartest scientist in all of the MCU to be spreading antiscience religious doctrine, Letitia completely deleted all her social media. While Variety says that Letitia is among the original BP cast members who “will likely reprise their roles,” TMZ is not so sure."
So, she posted a religious cult-like rant from a transphobic, anti-science, anti-vax, racist, climate change denier and got enough blowback that she pulled out of her social media account and even with ALL THAT it's only rumoured that she will be replaced! Does BC's actions in the last 7+ years sound anywhere close to this type of behaviour?
Next we have other examples the anon listed to support the argument that BC is on thin ice when it comes to his career with Disney.
1) "They replaced that chic on the Madalorian". Anon means Gina Carano who was fired by Lucasfilm because of her outrageous behaviour on her social media account.
To quote from a Collider article -
"The former MMA fighter has been stirring up controversy on social media for quite some time now, including but not limited to transphobic tweets, mocking the wearing of masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, and spreading misinformation about voter fraud. Fans of The Mandalorian have routinely been calling for her to be fired, and Lucasfilm finally made the decision Wednesday evening — although THR reports that the studio has been “looking for a reason to fire her for two months.”
So, she had been displaying behaviour that went completely against the philosophy of the company and doing it for some time. As a spokesperson said "her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Is this person's behaviour comparable to how BC has comported himself?
2) "they replaced Terrance Howard in Iron Man 2 with Don Cheadle." And then this "anon" goes on theorize that it had to do with salaries . But when you look at this Terrance fellow, what pops up? Well, according to Wikipedia...
"February 2009, it was reported on The Smoking Gun that Howard was arrested in 2001 for a variety of charges related to a violent attack on his estranged first wife, including simple assault, terrorist threats, harassment and stalking. According to police reports, he arrived at her house after an argument on the phone, forced entry into her home by breaking in doors, and chased her into the backyard where he punched her twice in the face with a closed fist. The violent attack ended when Howard's brother stepped in. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace"
it goes on to say "In a September 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Howard admitted to hitting his first wife in 2001 saying, "she was talking to me real strong, and I lost my mind and slapped her in front of the kids."
All this was coming out just before his salary was chopped by Marvel to a minuscule amount and he was replaced when he left Iron Man 2.
So again, how's BC's public reputation stack up to a person convicted of attacking a woman?
Not even close I would wager!
BC has a near sparkling reputation when compared to the likes of these replaced actors! Sure he's had some minor bumps (he isn't perfect) but he's NEVER publicly embarrassed the company making his movies! He's NEVER been convicted of beating on a woman!
He is a kind, generous, non-scandalous celebrity who works hard, stays out of social media scraps and is constantly praised by all who have worked with him. He's a committed father and husband and holds the values that many forward thinking, intelligent people do.
Other than the Haters (and occasionally their gossip mouthpiece "Enty") there's RARELY been even a whisper about him in the gossip rags ESPECIALLY since his marriage to Sophie! Why? BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT! NO SCANDAL! HAPPILY MARRIED FAMILY MAN!
End of story!
So why would Marvel be looking to dump him? ANSWER: THEY WOULDN'T!

“Sonny stop pacing your making me nerves” You looked at Sonny from behind your desk in the bullpen.
“You’ll wear a hole in the floor the way you’re going Carisi” Rafael laughed, sitting on the corner of your desk.
Sonny’s laptop pinged with a new email, he moved his chair out and sat down. Fin and Amanda made their way to stand next to your desk waiting to hear the results.
“Ok” Sonny huffed “Y/N come here please”
You stood up off your chair and walked around to stand next to Sonny. He grabbed onto your hand and squeezed it, you could feel the sweat on his palm as you held his hand in both of yours. Sonny clicked on the link of the e-mail and scanned the pass list for his number.
“There it is” Sonny’s eyes were wide.
“Sonny babe you passed” a big smile came to you face.
“I- I- I passed” Sonny jumped up wrapping his arms around you, lifting you up off the floor spinning you around. He put you back down on the ground cupping your cheeks kissing you.
“Congratulations Carisi” everyone said. Sonny turned to shake Fin and Rafael’s hand and hugged Amanda.
“I’ am guessing you passed?” Liv walked out of her office “Well done Carisi, we should have drinks tonight to celebrate”
“Well” Rafael cleared his throat “It will be a double celebration” Rafael looked over at you with a big smile, you looking at him not quite sure what he was talking about.
“You’re looking at your new Bureau Chief” you gasped and rushed over to Rafael hugging him.
“Congratulations Rafi” Rafael kissed you on the cheek, shaking the rest of the squads hands.
“Carisi, an ADA position will be advertised soon you should think about applying”
“Trying to steal my squad Barba” Liv patted him on the back.
Once Sonny had passed the bar the months that followed where a whirl wind. Both your leases had expired. You both decided to make the move to move in together. Managing to find an apartment you both liked just two blocks from Rafael’s and a 5 minutes’ drive to the prescient and the DA’s office.
Sonny applied for the ADA’s position, Rafael putting in a good word for him and he got the job. Liv was sad to see him go but knew how much he wanted to make the move. You were even sadder, but coming home to him every night took the sting out of not being his partner anymore. Rafael was enjoying being Bureau Chief and he told you that his next step was to become a judge.
“Babe what time do you need to be at Rollins?” Sonny yelled from your shared kitchen as he was making you coffee.
“10, Jessie’s doctor’s appointment is at 11. Amanda said Billie had a bad night so hopefully she isn’t too fussy for me” you walked into the kitchen kissing him on the cheek.
“Billie would never be fussy for you, she loves her Aunty too much” You rolled your eyes.
“Sonny she is 2 months old- what are you doing today?”
“Barba and I are going to catch up for a coffee, I’ am nervous for Monday” Sonny wrapped his arms around your middle.
“You’ll do great babe. Tell Rafi I said hi. I better go” You kissed Sonny and walked out of the apartment.
----
“Carisi, Rollins” Rafael walked up to Sonny and Amanda shaking their hands “Hey Jessie” Rafael looked down at Jessie’s pram with a smile. “What are we doing here?” Rafael nodded towards the jewellers shop “Where’s Y/N?”
“She is looking about Billie for me. She thinks Jessie has a check-up today” Amanda smiled at him.
“OK” Rafael looked at Sonny for the rest of the answer.
“Barba- Your Y/N’s best friend and you mean so much to her-“
“Spit it out Carisi” Rafael cut him off with a smile.
“I want to marry her, and I would like your blessing”
Rafael looked at Amanda and then back at Sonny.
“Of course you have my blessing Carisi”
“Ok good” Sonny let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding “Our appointment starts in 5 minutes”
“What appointment?” Rafael looked at him confused
“You and Rollins are going to help be design her engagement ring”
****
“Babe what are you doing here?” Sonny looked up from his paper work and crumpled pieces of paper all over the table of the empty court room that you had just walked through the doors of.
“I needed a break and I missed you- This case” you walked over to him handing him a coffee and kissing him hello. “What a case to come in on your first week” you rolled your eyes.
“You’re telling me- I have written my opening four times” Sonny lent back in his chair and patted his lap for you to sit “I missed you too” You took his invitation and sat across his lap, wrapping an arm around his neck.
“I hope that the case is over by next week so we can enjoy our anniversary” You kissed him on the cheek.
“If not well have to reschedule, but I hope it is” Sonny reached up too kiss you.
The kiss started out soft and soon become heated and needy. You pulled away from Sonny standing up off his lap, then sitting back down to straddle him. Your lips meeting his again for a kiss that was now more intense. Sonny rested his hands on your ass over your pants and yours where either side on his neck. Sonny pulled away which surprised you, you could feel him hardening,
“We can’t- not here, if we get caught, it’s my first week” Sonny looked into your eyes.
You nodded as a smirk came to your face. You got up off Sonny’s lap, pushed his legs apart and moved to stand between them, dropping to your knees.
“Wh-What are you doing Y/N”
“If anyone comes in just act like you’re writing” you winked at him.
You reached up and rubbed him through is slacks. Sonny grabbed the edge of the table. You undone his belt and zipper pulling out is hard cock from his boxers wrapping your hand around it giving it a few pumps, spreading his pre-cum all over his length and your palm,
“Mettimi in bocca per favour Babe” (put me in your mouth please)
You lent down and took Sonny into your mouth, relaxing your throat to take him all the way. Sonny groaned at the sensation, his knuckles white from grabbing onto the table to hard, and his head falling forward his jaw going slack. You started to bob up and down coming right up to his top, licking around it then taking back into your mouth. After a few more sucks, Sonny threaded a hand into your hair, bucking up into your mouth. Your eyes watering,
“Y/N” Sonny groaned as he bucked one more time into your mouth, his salty release running down the back of your throat.
****
“Why are you so nervous Carisi?”
“Seriously Barba” Sonny frowned at Rafael
“She isn’t going to say no is she. Let me see it again”
Sonny handed Rafael the navy velvet box opening it up seeing the shine of the beautiful diamond ring sitting inside that he helped design for you. Sonny tilted his head to get a better look at Rafael’s face,
“Barba- are you crying?”
“Don’t be so stupid Carisi. You better go, don’t keep her waiting- she looks beautiful. I’ll make sure everything is set up. Just make sure you text me when you’re on the way.”
That night after a beautiful dinner, Sonny led you up to the roof top garden of your building. You had to remind yourself to breathe when you walked through the door seeing candles and vase’s filled with your favour flowers positioned to make an aisle. Sonny walked to the end of it and got down on one knee and asked you to marry him. As soon as you said yes bubbles filled the air and your kiss was interrupted by claps, cheers and wolf whistles. You pulled away from Sonny’s kiss to see Rafael, Liv, Amanda, Fin, your parents and all of Sonny’s family.
“I can’t wait for you to be Mrs Carisi”

Zutara Week Day 2 - Counterpart: Complementary Parenting
Title: Complementary Parenting
Rating: G
Summary:  It’s a rainy Sunday at the Royal Palace, and baby Kya tends to get bored during these days. Much to her delight, Katara and Zuko decide to see which one of them can entertain their daughter the most.
---------
The rain pitter-pattered on the Royal Palace’s rooftop. The sound of the raindrops was muffled by soft giggling.
“Someone’s bored, huh?” Katara asked, putting down the book she was reading.
“Oh, you have no idea,” Zuko replied, holding baby Kya in his arms. “She definitely wants to go outside. I don’t think we can keep her entertained for much longer.”
The Fire Lady got up from the loveseat she had been resting on. She headed to the bed where the other two were playing.
Sundays were the quieter days for the pair of first-time parents. Between running an entire Nation and dealing with South Pole´s businesses, raising a little one took up most of their time. They loved it that way, making sure their girl got all the attention she deserved. Weekends were almost exclusively reserved for her. Kya adored spending most of her afternoons by the turtleduck pond. But rainy days meant staying inside for at least a while. And the tiny princess wasn't exactly a fan of it.
Sitting down next to her husband and their daughter, Katara softly poked the little girl’s nose.
“You just wanted mommy’s attention, didn’t you?”
At the sound of her mother’s voice, Kya giggled some more.
“Hey!” The Fire Lord exclaimed. “She’s having the time of her life with me.”
“I know, I know, I’m just teasing you,” she said, placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
Zuko gifted her a tender smile in return. “How was your reading session?” he asked.
“Good, but I was already missing you two.”
He held Kya as he glided her through the air, her soft laughter brightening up the entire room. “Well, I think it’s safe to say we’ve both missed you too.”
“You know, for a future waterbender, she doesn’t seem to love the rain that much.”
“Keep dreaming about it,” Zuko laughed. “This little troublemaker has ‘firebender’ written all over.”
Katara gently took the baby from his arms, giving her a warm hug. Kya was smiling from ear to ear, clearly loving the way her parents bickered for her attention.
“You know Sokka is almost rooting for her to be a non-bender, right? He wants to get his chance to teach her how to use a boomerang, fan, and sword.”
“I’m not surprised, he and Suki are the coolest yet craziest uncles ever. But trust me, my gut says she’ll be one unstoppable firebender. Look at her cute little fiery eyes.”
“Mmm, we’ll see about that,” Katara replied. “I can’t believe her first birthday is only about a month and a half away.”
“She’s grown too fast. Don’t even get me started on what my mom and Kiyi have already planned for the party.”
“We shouldn’t sleep on the invitations, by the way, I’m sure Suki and Sokka would love to choose their greatest outfits in advance.”
“Oh, Agni. Wait until Azula realizes Kiyi was looking forward to getting matching dresses with her. That should be fun to watch.”
Little Kya seemed to have her own ideas for the birthday party, as she interrupted them with some opinionated babbling.
“Alright, alright, sweetie, we hear you,” Katara said. “We know you’re bored inside.”
“See? She had us both right here and still complains,” Zuko remarked with a playful smirk.
“You know, I think I might have an idea.” She put the girl back into her father’s arms.
Zuko simply smiled, a curious frown framing his face as he held his daughter.
“Look, Kya, check out what mommy can do,” Katara said as she bent a tad of water out of the glass that rested on her nightstand.
The little girl’s eyes widened as she watched her mom form a tiny water heart in the air, only to disassemble it and have the stream of liquid do a full circle around her before going back to its place. Kya even clapped a bit, giggling and extending her hands to Katara. Her mother took her back into her arms, giving her a little bunny kiss.
“Well, that seemed to entertain her enough,” Zuko cheered. “Though it’s not fair, you know I can’t just firebend around like that.”
“I sense some jealousy there, Kya. Daddy’s afraid I’m going to be your absolute favorite after today.”
The princess mumbled in response, trying to get her hands into her mother’s hair loops. They were one of her favorite things to hold into her little fingers. Always catching her attention and causing Katara to try and convince her to please give her poor hair a break.
“Oh, come on! You know I’m her favorite,” Zuko complained, chuckling. “Let’s see what I can do.”
“Heard that, Kya? I’ve got a competition now!” Katara laughed, sitting the baby on her lap. “Come on, darling, your ladies are waiting.”
“Alright, don’t you two get your hopes too up. It’s going to be the simplest trick in history,” Zuko said as he grabbed a nearby candle.
He held it in his hands, standing up at a cautious distance from the girls. When they were both looking, he put off the flame only to ignite it again a couple of seconds later. He repeated the move a few times, calling Kya’s attention.
“Princess, look here!” he exclaimed. “Where’s the flame? Did it disappear? Nop! Here it is!”
Their daughter just kept giggling, eyes wide open as she watched the flame come and go, softly clapping from her mom’s lap. Zuko wore a bright grin on his face, Kya was his ultimate weak spot. Well, along with his wife, of course. He couldn’t be happier with the little family they had forged together.
“Your trick wasn’t so bad!” Katara exclaimed once he was finished. “My water heart was just a million times cuter, that’s all.”
“And here I was, thinking you loved me,” Zuko raised a brow. “Oh, what a fool.”
“Shut up, you know I do.” Katara rolled her eyes as she made a playful smile.
“Kya, please know your father does love your mom. It’s not my fault she doesn’t feel the same way,” he joked as he kneeled onto the bed, leaning onto his elbows to stick his tongue out to his wife.
“Oh Agni, what has fatherhood done to this man?” Katara swooned. “I love you, silly.”
Making sure to have Kya firmly secured into her arms, she leaned up to him and placed a soft kiss on his lips. The two young parents maintained eye contact for a tender moment after it. Everything about the gesture was utterly affectionate.
“I love you too,” Zuko replied. “That’s much better, I think I even have the strength to outdo you with one final trick,” he said as he got back on his feet.
“And the Fire Lord strikes again!” Katara laughed.
He took a couple of extra steps back before igniting a tiny flame on one of his hands. Smirking, he did the same thing on the other. Then, he started juggling the two flames, adding a third one once he felt more confident. Kya’s eyes reflected the light from the small flames as she cheered on her dad with some graceful babbling.
“Wow, wow, getting competitive, huh?” The Fire Lady teased.
With a simple wrist movement, she redirected the water from the glass to put out the flames Zuko was juggling with.
“That’s cheating,” he complained, plummeting to the bed and poking Kya’s nose. “Come here, princess, give your poor dad some love.”
The little girl answered with some loud giggling, eager to nestle into her father’s arms.
“Alright, I think I know how to settle this once and for all,” Katara stated, giving Zuko a pinch on his cheek. “I’ll have to warn you, though, I’m definitely winning this funny little contest we’ve got going on.”
“Katara, sometimes I do wonder which one of us is more competitive,” he said as he made a sarcastic smirk.
“Both. I think both is your best bet,” she replied. “So, ready to be defeated?”
“Defeated in entertaining our infant daughter? Yeah, I think I can live with it.”
“Great, then get up. We need to be closer to the window.”
“Got that, little one?” Zuko said to Kya as he stood up, holding her in his arms. “Mommy is going to put on a show for us.”
Once the three of them were by the window, Katara opened it. The smell of rain invaded the room. It was a cloudy day outside, with the rainwater still pouring down all over the garden.
“Sweetie you pay attention to mom, alright? I´m gonna show you waterbending is the best.”
“Sh, Kya, don’t let her tricks convince you.” Zuko grinned.
Katara stuck her hands out the window, a light frown caused by her concentration made its way to her face. Smiling, she tilted her head to make the other two look outside.
It had ceased raining around them, a thousand little raindrops rested static in the air, stopped by her will.
Kya started clapping, extending her arms to point to the outside. She was loving it. Babbling, she seemed to ask if it meant they would finally go outside.
“No, no, princess,” Katara laughed, allowing the rain to keep falling back from the sky. “It’s a waterbending move, it hasn’t actually stopped raining.”
The little girl pouted at the negative, clearly eager to be able to play by the pond.
As she closed the window, Katara gave Zuko a triumphant smile.
“I won, right?” she asked.
Sitting down on the bed, with Kya back on his lap, the Fire Lord let out a soft laugh.
“You win, my lady,” he replied. “Now come here and let me hug you, you know my firebending is handy when it comes to keeping you warm. We don’t want you catching a cold, don’t we?” A playful smirk framed his face.
“Fine, if you insist,” Katara complied, cuddling in bed with the two of them. “But you know I entertained Kya the most.”
“We all know that. Stopping the rain was a dream come true for her,” he said as he placed a tender kiss on her lips.
All that bending had left the two young parents in the mood for a nap. Placing the baby princess in the middle of them, they played with her until she finally fell asleep. Once they were sure she wouldn’t wake up from the sound of the rain, they resolved to let their eyes fall heavy too. Not before sharing an exhausted yet loving look. They had succeeded at entertaining their little one.
The three of them stayed in bed for most of what remained of the stormy evening. In the end, little Kya had been the actual winner. With her parent’s efforts to amuse her with their little bending competition, spending an afternoon inside hadn’t been boring at all. It was a fact, Sundays were becoming her favorite.
------- Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this little tooth-roothing piece <3

angel || reid/emily x angel!reader (3)
summary: this is where the writing actually starts to get goooood. okay, so basically, spencer didn’t choose his words very wisely, now everyone has to pay the price for that.

y/n’s pov
i pressed the seal onto the last envelope, my fingers running over the freshly dried ink.
“are you sure you want to do this?” the voice echoes in my head, and i nod.
“it’s what he wants. it’s what’ll make him happy. besides, now i’ll get to be a full angel.” i chuckle sadly, placing the envelopes face down on the desk.
“i’ll make these just...mail super fast.”
“please and thank you.” i sighed, and the letters dissipated from my desk.
i pulled my coat on, the handbook underneath my arm as i walked through the frigid cold streets. i wasn’t aware of how long i was walking until i finally reached the tombstone. her name engraved in the limestone. i reached down, tracing my fingers over the letters as i kneeled on top of her grave. i opened up the handbook and my phone rang out. i pulled it out of my pocket to see emily calling. the call went to voicemail and i could see the text messages piling in. a sad smile graced my lips and i placed the ringer on silent, leaving the phone on so that garcia could track me. maeve would need someone to come and get her once this was done. i placed the clothes and jacket onto the ground with a sticky-note with her name on it on top of the small pile. taking in a deep breath, i placed my hands on the ground.
“amantem reducant amissum. amissos reducendum est. commutationem pro anima sua. et omnes deterrere.“ i mumbled, a tightness forming in my chest.
i spoke the words again, each time the words getting louder and louder. and suddenly, i awoke.
“welcome home, my child.”

third person pov
the team sped through the streets as emily clutched her phone tightly in her hands.
“pick up, dolly. come on. please pick up.” she pleaded underneath her breath.
spencer sulked in the backseat, one thought running through his mind. why didn’t he get a note?
the cars squealed to a stop and they all pummeled out of the cars. they ran through the graveyard and came to an immediate stop, baffled at the sight before them.
“s-spencer?”
spencer pushes his way through his team, and all his movements cease.
“maeve?”
the girl lets out a sob and spencer runs over, collecting her into his arms.
“hey, it’s okay. you’re okay.”
and as he stood there, consoling the woman he loved, the rest of the team had their eyes on the small body laying on the ground. her y/h/c hair sprawled across the grass. her body cold and devoid of color. emily was the first to break her trance as she ran over to y/n’s body, collecting her into her arms.
“no. no you’re fine. we’ll get you to a hospital and you’re going to be fine. you’re an angel. you can’t die. come on. wake up baby. please...” she sobs, pushing y/n’s hair from her face.
“emily...”jj sighs, placing her hand on emily’s shoulder.
hotch walks over, picking up the small leather bound book.
“this must be her handbook.”
“we should...probably keep that.” derek says, and hotch nods.
“probably.” hotch says, tucking the book underneath his arm as they watched their teammate fall apart, just as spencer once had.
“no. guys she’s okay. she’s fine. she’s just cold. she needs a blanket.” emily sobs, attempting to pick her up.
garcia sobs audibly as rossi tucker her underneath his arm. morgan sighs, bringing her into his arms.
“a life for a life...” emily mutters, snapping her head up at spencer who had maeve in his hold as she watched awkwardly from the side.
“this is your fault.” she growls, placing y/n back onto the grass and stomping towards spencer.
“hey woah woah.” jj says, grabbing hold of her best friends’ arms.
“she did this for you! you knew someone had to die to bring back maeve, and you didn’t care. you didn’t even bother letting her finish her sentence. so i really hope you’re happy spencer. i really do. you have the love of your life. and it only cost you mine.” emily sobs, pulling herself from jj’s hold and locking herself into the car.
“we need to put her in the grave.” rossi says, rolling up his sleeves.
“wait what?” derek asks, placing his hand on rossi’s chest.
“in my letter. she left instructions on what to do afterwards. the first thing, was she told me to bury her in maeve’s grave. something about the loss of one body requires a replacement body.” rossi sighs.
“then we get her her own.” jj argues.
“she told me herself. she said we had to make sure her body was put in maeve’s. or else the transference won’t work. her body needs to decompose like maeve’s did or else...or else maeve, as alive as she is, will start to decompose.” rossi explains, pulling his letter out of his pocket.
meanwhile, spencer and maeve stood to the side. both enthralled by each other’s presence and guilt ridden at the sorrowful atmosphere. spencer glances up at the sky, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. thank you.
yet, as spencer was thanking the heaven’s, emily sat in the front seat of the suv, heavy and loud sobs escaping her lips. y/n’s heart wrenched as she watched her from the skies. clutching her chest, she nodded her head, sobbing as emily’s thought filled y/n’s ears.
“i know, baby. i know.”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
*one month later*
she had visited them all in dreams. even jack and henry. but not spencer, never spencer. she still watched after him, and cared for him. but she couldn’t get his words out of her head. they weighed heavy on her soul as if she were constantly wearing 10 pound ankle weights. she had visited emily the most. emily and garcia. slowly, the girl’s heart wilted away, her love for the genius wilting along with it. and in it’s place, blossomed a love for funny, kind, hardworking woman. y/n never would have guessed that she could ever feel this way for her, but she did. she does. y/n had grown content with watching from afar. of course she had missed them. she missed them dearly, but they all still had their moments. and she never regretted a single choice she had made. until she heard it.
“she’s dead, spencer! i thought you loved me? i thought that was the whole point of her dying? she died so she could save the woman you loved.”
“i did love you, maeve. but i...i guess...my love for her just slipped past me and i didn’t even notice. i just can’t stop thinking about her. and i’m sorry but you don’t deserve this. you deserve better.”
“yeah...i do.” she scoffs, slamming the apartment door shut and stomping to her car.
y/n’s pov
a sudden rage bubbled in my chest and i immediately felt a warm hand on my shoulder.
“what’s wrong?”
“you know.” i grumble, shutting the window and sitting on my bed.
he sighs, taking a seat next to me.
“did you ever read your handbook?”
“yes i read the-”
“all of it?” he asks, staring pointedly.
my head cowers and i shake my head.
“no...but i read most of it”
“ah...but not the part you need the most.”
my eyebrows furrow and i run out of the room, heading straight for my brother gabriel’s room, snatching his handbook off of his desk.
“yes of course you can borrow it.” he chuckles sarcastically, and i wave him off.
my eyes skim through the pages and a short gasp leaves my lips.
“you read the page about your wings, yet?” he smirks.
an excited bubble burst through my chest and i lean down, kissing his cheek.
“oh i love you all so much. but i have to go.”
“remember, if you die, that’s all you get!” he shouts.
“i know!”
i ran out the doors and through the garden, my wings expanding and i took flight, heading straight for the open portal. emily, i’m coming.
i bite my lip as i happily soared above the clouds. my eyes had reached the quanitco building and i dove straight forward. they were in the conference room when i had appeared outside of the doors. i took a deep breath, tucking my wings back in before placing my hand on the door handle. just...say something normal. be cool, y/n.
i pushed open the door and their eyes fell on me. garcia lets out a squeak and both spencer and emily shoot up from their seats.
“heyyyy” i smile, biting my lower lip and throwing up finger guns.
finger guns? really?
“oh my god this isn’t real.” morgan mutters.
“ooooh. but it is.” i smile, tucking my head into my shoulder.
“you- you’re really here?” emily gasps, stepping forward and running her fingers through my hair.
“i’m really here, em.”
she lets out a short sob before pulling me into her arms. i’m then passed around like a community teddy bear and everyone pulls away, leaving me standing awkwardly in front of spencer.
“why would you do that? i...i was angry. i didn’t mean what i said-”
“except you did. i warned you, spencer. somebody had to die. somebody of the same level of importance to you. it was a necessary pain that you had to face. and i had already told you that i can’t just...keep bad things from happening to you guys. we both have to pay the price for it. so, it had to be me. i couldn’t let anyone else die. not for this. but that’s okay. i’m still alive. i’m just not human. that part of me had to die. now i’m just...an angel.”
i let my wings shake loose and the team gasps, reaching out to touch the feathers.
“i thought angel’s wings were supposed to be white.” spencer mumbles, his eyes scanning over my wings.
my heart stops and my eyebrows furrow.
“well, i’m not complaining about the gold either.” emily chuckles, and i immediately retract my wings.
“what?” i ask, my eyes wide.
“yeah, what’re you guys talking about? they’re white.” jj chuckles.
“no...they’re not.” spencer says, giving jj a concerned look.
“hey...are you okay?” hotch asks, placing his hand on my shoulder.
“i- ummm...they are white but...there’s only supposed to be one person in this whole universe who can see gold wings.”
“one?” garcia asks, raising an eyebrow at me.
“my soulmate.” i say, staring wide eyed at emily and reid.
everyone pauses as they look between us three.
“and you both see gold?” rossi questions, and the two nod their heads.
“i- i have to go. i’ll be back. but i-...i really need to go.” i breathe out, pushing my way through the team and back out the door.
i could hear them calling out my name but i closed my eyes and the next thing i knew, i was in the skies. i sped through the clouds and landed myself right on the porch of my home. opening the doors, i shouted out to him.
“i’m assuming you found out about your little...dilemma?” gabriel asks as he popped a grape into his mouth.
“it...it doesn’t make any sense, gabriel.” i groan, throwing myself onto the couch next to him.
“you forget that you were half human. so, both parts of you were assigned a soulmate. when human you died, so did your love for that soulmate. but the angel you, still has a thriving love for your soulmate.” he says, patting my knee comfortingly.
“but...which one is real?”
“ah that’s the tricky part because they’re both real.”
“but if i only love my angel soulmate then...my human soulmate has no one.”
“tricky tricky things this soulmate stuff.”
“and what happens to my human soulmate?”
he pauses for a moment, grabbing hold of my hand.
“listen. a piece of your soul belongs to lucifer now. the human you, is stuck in hell. that’s the piece of you that belongs to the human soulmate. when you figure that mess out, you’ll figure this mess out.”

----
I walked towards the enterance of the school and heard people whispering. I blinked in confusion. What is going on?
I turned to Alya my best friend and tapped her on the shoulder. She jumped insuprise but, calmed herself after seiing myself.
"Hey Alya? Whats going on? Why is everyone so excited?" I asked her confused at the excited students buzzing through the halls. "Oh! You havent heard?!" She Gasped dramatically. I shook my head no as a reply. "Nope! But Can you tell me what's going on? Please?" I groaned already wanting an answer. I crossed my arms and tapped my foot impatiently. She sighed and put her phone away. She withdrew her hands and smiled at me. I mtioned for her to go on. "Well So Mari you know Y/n the singer right?" She asked her eyes filled with hope. I smiled and nodded. I hummed while nodding giving her a short response.
"Yeah? What about her?" I stated nonchalantly. Alya's smile stayed on her face.
"Well your not going to believe this but! Shes coming here! Because she wants to meet Kitty Section and study here!!" She belted out practically bouncing off the walls. I blinked in suprise at her statement. "R-Really! Thats amazing! Wait how did you know this?" I chirped but then had a teasing grin. Alya smiled and pulled out her phone. "She Just tweeted this a few months ago and has been keeping everyone up! And today she's coming here!!" She gushed. I smiled.
"Oh Alya I cant wait then!" I chirped suddenly the students inside flocked towards the entrance of the school. I had lost Alya and Was left alone. I sighed and went towards the stairs to get a better view.
I sighed in relief and looked from above. "Phew! Thats much BETTER?!" I almost screamed. There she really was but she is way too close to Adrien!
----
I nervously shifted in the car. I hope I can find Luka here to play with his band Kitty Section for my Concert that ends here in Paris. I took a few deep breaths before being snapped out of my own thoughts.
"Hey Earth to Y/n? Are you okay?" A voice spoke. I looked to the voice and it was Adrien. He is a member of Kitty Section and so is my boyfriend Luka. I jumped and looked at him nervously. I sighed and shook my head. "Hey its gonna be okay! I promise I'll be with you throughout the entire day!" He said reassuring me about today. I took a deep breath and smiled.
"Yeah.. Sorry about freaking out.. its just I haven't been to a real school in a very long time.." I mumbled looking at my hands again. "Hey its gonna be okay! I havent been here awhile either but your gonna love it here! I promise!" He declared. I burst out laughing and smiled at him.
"O-okay! P-promise?" I stuttered holing my hand out my pinky finger sticking out. "Hahaha.. Don't worry! I Promise!" He laughed at my silly action and intertwined our pinkies. I smiled at him returning my suggested gesture. The car had suddenly stopped and I walked out behind him sticking as close to him as possible.
"Here take this and don't let go okay?" Adriend said Sticking his hand out and nodded. I hesitated but grabbed his hand as we got through the crowd and inside my first classroom for the day. He let go and smiled. "See? Not so bad right?" He teased playfully trying to poke my cheek. I swatted his hands away with a silly noise. He laughed and I giggled. This isnt so bad.
Well boy was I wrong!
----
It was Lunch time at my new school. I stuck close to adrien because he is my clisest friend now. Besides He's basically my best friend now. I smiled as he took my hand and we walked together towards the Lunch room. I took my Tray and walked with him to the tables keeping to ourselves now that everyone has calmed down.
Suddenly chairs were pulled out and People sat in them. The girl with Navy Blue pigtails squinted her eyes at me. I blinked in nervousness.
"O-oh! Hello? I dont think I have met you!" I smiled warmly at her. Her gaze still strong and my nervousness grew.
"Oh Y/n this is Marinette my good friend!" Adrien chimed into the akaward tension hoping to break it. I smiled at the bluenette.
"Well Its very nice to meet you Marinette!" I smiled at her her gaze softened hearing Adrien's voice but kept her hard gaze once I had opened my mouth. I stopped smiling and frowned but smiled softly.
"I think I'll go Home early.. I'll see you soon at practice" I smiled at Adrien still feeling Marinette's cold gaze on me as I get up and leave. I sigh. "She hates me and I havent done anything wrong.." I mumbled walking home but then smiled at my memories to reunite with Luka.
--------
The Model looked at Marinette with a smile. "Marinette! Isn't she amazing" Adrien smiled then hearing a cough and there was Luka. He blushed in Embarrassment.
"O-oh! Luka! Sorry Your girl is really something!" He smiled sheepishly. He smiled and nodded taking a seat next to the model.
"Y/n is Your Girl Luka?" Marinette curiously interjects. Luka simply nodded. The green eyes male nodded.
"Mhmm! She is a really good friend Luka I wish I had a relationship Like Yours!" Adrien groaned jokingly. The bluenette from across her eye twitched in annoyance hearing the mentioning of the new girl slip everytime from her crush's mouth.
"Well She is the one for me and after all I would do anything for her.." Luka Softly spoke with a small smile his mund going towards the sweet memories with his said partner.
The Bluenette had a Plan in her head to finally expose the new girl for lying about who she was and her relationship with her two friends to bring peace to her self.
Her Plans were now in Motion.
-------'
I walked towards Luka's boathouse with a smile. Finally getting to see Luka after awhile of being away is the Female's dream come true. The said female stepped onyo the boat only to be met with an angry Kitty Section Along with an Upset Luka and Shocked Adrien. The girl Blinked in confusion.
"Did I come at a bad time?" The Female Questioned and The band turned to her with anger. There was the bluenette from earlier. Y/n Shrunk and felt small compared to the people.
"How could you do that to Luka?" "Is he not good enough?!" "I thought you were cool" "Think about your actions carefully" The members of Kitty section Lectured the girl. Y/n looked over at Luka and looked at him with confused eyes.
"Luka what's going on? Why are they mad?" She squeaked in fear. Luka sighed in anger and stood up and glared at her.
"Marinette's been telling me that you have been flirting with Adrien.. I think its better for us not to be together Y/n.." He stated coldly and walked to his guitar.
The girl was left stunned and her tears fell from her eyes. "Thats not True... You can even ask Adrien.. He was the only one that had shown me around because you are always busy.. I thought we were really meant to be..I-I.. I guess this is goodbye.. Im sorry!" She cried out and ran off the Boat. The members looked at the singer that had dashed off the boathouse in a flash then turned towards the trio.
Milan now with the three girl that were present looked at eachother and grabbed Marinette dragging her downstairs while the Guys tried to calm the now growing tension between Luka and Adrien.
------
"Marinette! What did you do?" Alya Interrogated the bluenette. Marinette laughed nervously.
"I thought that would help Luka out.. Y/n was flirting with him.. I think.." She Softly spoke. The four girls Groaned. Juleka stepped forward.
"Marinette.. Luka has never been happier with her since you rejected him Why would you do that?" She crossed her arms with anger. Marinette shrank in her seat feeling the cold gazes.
"Oh shoot.n My jealousy got in the way.. I gotta fix this now.." She Sighed covering her face in embarrassment. The girls before her nodded.
Suddenly a crash was heard upstairs causing the girls to run upstairs.
"WHY THE HELL WOULD UOU FLIRT WITH HER YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE HER YOU JERK!" Luka Yelled at the keyboard player. Adrien glared at him shaking his head.
"THATS NOT WHAT HAPPENED! LUKA! MARINETTE LIED! NOW GO FIX WHAT YOU HAVE WITH HER BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!" Adrien Yelled.
Luka Finally calmed down and saw the girls and Marinette looking away in embarrassment. The male sighed and stopped his rage and ran off in search for his girl.
-----
"I-I-I thought he Loved me.." I sobbed. I hugged my knees to my chest looking at the city of Paris in the Eiffel Tower.
'Ive never felt so fucking used in my life' I thought sobbing into my arms.
"He does love you.. He just believed a girl over his own true love.." a Familiar voice spoke. I turned and saw the male himself.
I turned away from him coldy. "What are you doing here? I thought you were at practice Luka.. and that you were done with us.." I whispered looking at the night sky. His footsteps grew closer and his arms wrapped themselves around me.
"I'm an Idiot you know... I shouldn't have said that.." Luka Sighed in frustration. I listened to the male ramble on. I blinked away my tears.
"Yes and you believed her over me Luka.. Do I even Matter to you anymore?" I mumbled my tears glistening in the paris lights that showcased the Eiffel Tower.
Luka took my hands in his almost hesitating. My head now facing him as I look at him in suprise.
"Oh Y/n.. you silly girl.. Of course you do matter to me.. Your My Muse.. My Girl.. My everything Y/n.. I wouldnt know if I didn't have you with me.. I'll be a mess...What Im trying to say is Je'taime Y/n" He breathed out.
"So... Will you give me another chance?"

Hide & Seek - Chapter 2
Guess who’s back with part 2 of her fic over a year after posting chapter one? Wow. This is the first bit of writing I’ve done in over 6 months. Its not my best, but I am proud of myself for finishing it. I hope you will check out ch.1&2 to get you in the mood for season 3! Time to work on a Mileven-centric ch. 3!
Part 1 | Read on AO3
"I hate this game."
Will tightened his grip on his wrist as he pulled his legs closer towards himself, hugging them to his body and resting his chin on his knees. He tried to take in a deep breath but it stuck in his throat and he hugged his legs even tighter in an attempt to push the air out, resulting in a quiet strangled cough.
Breathe, Will. It’s not real. You’re okay. Don’t be baby. Calm down.
This inner mantra never worked, but he tried it every time without fail. He pressed his back harder into the tree behind him, almost painfully, in an attempt to focus on something other than the fear.
This forest, its trees and hills, he knew too well. And hiding in this forest was something he was all too skilled at, the act of which was the current reason he was fighting off a panic attack.
Will had hidden in these woods a lot. The most recent time, it was cold and dark, and the air hurt to breathe. He felt permanently damp and chilled to the bone, unable to warm up if he tried. Today, he also felt permanently damp, but from heat instead of cold.
Oh.
It was too hot to be the Upside Down, and now that he looked around, too bright too.
Okay, this is good. Will managed to take in a breath and release it, his shoulders relaxing slightly at the motion. He tried to focus on other things that drew him to the present; the heat of the sun, a bird that flew by, the hard bark of the tree against his back. Will took in another deep breath and focused on releasing the air out his mouth, dropping his forehead to his knees as he breathed in and out, in and out.
The snap of a nearby branch made Will almost jump out of his skin.
“Sorry,” said a voice straining with effort to speak softly. “It’s just me, Will.”
Will peered up to see a curtain of red hair leaning over him. “Oh, hey Max,” he said, trying to steady his shaking voice and hands.
“Are you okay?” Max asked, still leaning over him, her normally piercing blue eyes soft with concern.
Will dusted his hands off on his shorts and rose to stand at her level. “Yeah, I’m okay. Just, you know,” he swallowed roughly, eyes roaming around them, unfocused, “these woods.”
Max’s eyebrows knit together with concern. “Bad memories?” she asked, before immediately wincing. “Oh my God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say that. I just mean…” She gestured around them awkwardly. “I meant, um…”
Will placed his hand on her arm, stopping her. “It’s okay, Max. Yeah, bad memories.” He tried to smile at her encouragingly. “I’m glad you found me.”
She returned his smile, grateful. “Come on. If we don’t hide quick, Dustin will be finding us next.”
They started walking, silently, Max in the lead. She walked quickly and confidently, Will right behind, finally able to keep in stride with most of his friends now that he had a recent growth spurt. In fact, Will was now tall enough to see the top of her head if he lifted his chin high enough. Max was marching forward with purpose – if she was shaken at all by finding Will in the state he was, she didn’t show it, much to his relief.
If Will had learned anything about Max in the past few months it was that beyond her cool skater girl exterior, she was surprisingly kind and compassionate, but never coddling. It was a welcome break from his mom, brother, and the rest of the Party who meant well and tried their best, but at times made him feel babied nonetheless. He wasn’t sure why her compassion seemed to hit the right mark; perhaps she saw in him the same wounded strength that he recognised in her. Maybe that’s why El found it so easy to be friends with her, too.
Max’s confident strides turned hesitant for a moment and then slowed to a stop. Will nearly walked into her right arm, which she threw out from her side in silent warning. Her head jerked back towards him and she smashed the fingers from her other hand over her mouth in a silent, “shhhh.”
Will froze in place, his eyes scanning the trees around them to see if the jig was up. Max was doing the same, her arm still out and pressed against Will’s chest. Suddenly, Will sucked in his breath as he caught a glimpse of someone behind the tree directly in front of them.
Will nudged Max’s arm, gesturing at the tree, and she sucked in a gasp, too, remaining still as stone as a slender hand braced itself around the tree. They heard low murmuring and then a soft giggle that they both recognised immediately.
Will’s shoulders relaxed. “Mike and El,” he whispered.
Max dropped her arms back to her sides and rolled her eyes. "Better go the other way. Don't want to see anything we can't unsee."
With that, she turned on her heel in the opposite direction, moving away from the giggling at the same quick pace as before. Only once they were a few yards away did she slow down enough that Will could walk beside her.
"Are they always going to be like that?" Max asked, tossing a glance over her shoulder, her hair whipping over her shoulder at the motion.
Her tone surprised him. Normally Max was the one telling the guys to lay off of El and Mike for their couple-y antics, but at this moment she sounded nearly as testy as Dustin was earlier when Lucas ate the last strawberry poptart.
"Like a gooey pile of googly eyes who are all over each other? Yeah. Yeah, I think so." Will smiled slightly. "I think it's kind of cute."
"Seriously?” Max’s eyebrows nearly disappeared into her hairline. “Yuck."
Will paused, thoughtful. "It is a little much sometimes, yeah. But I'm just really glad they're happy. After last year..." Will swallowed, trailing off. "Mike was really sad before, like I've never seen him. And he just, he deserves to be happy. This happy."
Max didn’t reply, her eyes glued to the grass below them. Will glanced over at her and could tell something was upsetting her. Her shoulders had slumped slightly and she was close to tripping on her feet, the way she was dragging them. He was just opening his mouth to ask what was wrong when he heard someone call his name, freezing him to the spot. Just as a quickly there was a crash, and more yelling.
“Dustin!” Max hissed, starting to run.
Will was hot on her heels as they darted through the trees, weaving deeper and deeper into the forest. His feet seemed to direct him on autopilot, and at last he saw their destination in the distance. “This way,” he called, grabbing her by the wrist and diving headfirst into the felt blanket doors of Castle Byers.
They crashed in a heap on the ground, panting from their sprint. They listened for Dustin’s voice but the only sound other than their own breathing was the call of a crow flying overhead.
“I think…I think we’re safe,” Max said, sighing a breath of relief. She looked around, taking in her surroundings. “I don’t think we’ll be safe here for long. Too obvious.”
“I think we’ll be okay here for a while.” Will scooted over to the pile of blankets that formed a makeshift bed in the corner of the fort. Wiping at sweat on his brow, he sat down and stretched his legs out in front of him. “By the sounds of it, Dustin ate it back there. I hope he’s okay.”
Max smirked and plopped herself down beside Will on the blankets. “Yeah, knowing Dustin he’s probably milking that for all its worth. I love the guy, but he’s pretty dramatic.”
Will smiled despite himself. “Yeah, Dustin can lay it on thick. But he’s also the life of the party. Sometimes I wish I could be more like that.” He picked at a scab on his knee absentmindedly. “Dustin seems to always have a good time even if something’s bothering him. He can make things feel normal, even when they’re weird, you know?”
Max bent forward to retie her loose shoelace. “Yeah. He’s good at that. Must be nice.”
Will tried to read Max’s expression, but her hair was hiding her face. He felt jealous for a moment of her long, red hair – it made her stand out but also was like a wall of protection she hung around her when she wanted to, like she was doing now.
“Max?” Will said, nudging her shoulder with his own. “Is everything okay?”
Max shook her hair even further over her face. “I’m fine. Just…overheated.”
“Okay,” Will said, smoothing his hands on his shorts, before pushing the hair off his face. “Its okay if you’re not, too.”
There was a beat of silence where Will thought he said the wrong thing, but then Max exhaled a massive sigh. The puff of air blew her hair off her face, and she rolled her eyes to the ceiling. “I’m that obvious, huh?”
“Well…you’re not Dustin,” Will shrugged in reply, not wanting to push her further. She hadn’t pushed him to spill when she found him earlier, so it didn’t feel fair for him not to show her the same courtesy. If she wanted to talk, she could, but he wouldn’t force her to – even though he was eager to listen and help.
She fiddled with the yellow scrunchie on her wrist. “Its just that, I don’t know, its stupid, but like, seeing Mike and El today just made me mad. And then you said what you said, and I felt bad.”
Will felt his stomach drop. “I didn’t mean to-”
“No, its okay, Will. I should feel bad. I do.” She looked him in the eye then, and he could see hers were wet with tears. “Its not like Mike and El have had it easy then, or even now. Its just that…I understand now how they must feel. I’m just…I’m so tired of hiding.”
“What do you mean?” Will’s brows furrowed, confused.
“Like, Mike and El had to hide for a long time, I know. But now? Now they can hold hands, and be a couple, and kiss, and he’s at her house all the time. But its not that easy for everyone. Its not that easy for me and Lucas, because…” Max’s face was flushed with anger and embarrassment. “Because Billy, and now Neil.”
“Neil. Like, your dad?”
“My stepdad.” Max ran a hand through her hair, pushing it out of her face. “He’s an asshole. He thinks he knows everything and can control everyone. But he can’t.” She set her jaw determinedly, eyes blazing intensely. “I won’t let him control me. Ever.”
It was as though Max’s fierce stare scared the sunlight away. The fort was much darker than before, the air tense and heavy with humidity.
Will squirmed a bit, unsure of whether he should ask Max what she meant or if she would say more. She didn’t speak, though; but the darker atmosphere made Castle Byers feel like a more intimate space for this kind of conversation and gave Will a boost of courage he needed to speak.
“Does Neil not like Lucas?” he asked quietly.
Max rolled her eyes and huffed another sigh. “Neil doesn’t like anybody. I don’t know what my mom was thinking when she married him.” She bit her lip, considering her next words. “He doesn’t like anyone, but…he really doesn’t like Lucas. Or his family. Or any of his ‘kind of people,’” she said, making air quotes with her fingers, cheeks reddening in anger.
“Oh.” Will’s eyes widened in understanding. The Sinclair’s were a welcomed, well-respected family in Hawkins, but there were a few idiots who had no qualms about using racist terms to talk about them or other people of colour in town. The people who spoke like that weren’t held in high regard in most social circles, but still, it happened. Lucas didn’t really talk about it (just like Will didn’t talk about the specific names he got called), but he knew it bothered him.
“Yeah.” Max fiddled with a stray thread on one of the blankets. “I tried to make sure he didn’t know about me and Lucas, because I knew I’d get in deep shit if he found out. But he did. And he was so angry. And he said such horrible things…I had told Lucas not to come to the house…” she trailed off, voice wavering.
Will scratched at a mosquito bite on his neck, feeling awkward, not knowing what to say. Lucas had told him before that he’d only been to Max’s house a few times, and had never even gone inside. Will and the rest of the party had never been to her place at all. He was so used to everyone being at his place, like they had been earlier today, that he hadn’t considered how lonely it would to never have his friends in that part of his life.
Will knew what it was like to not feel safe in your own house, but when it was filled with his friends, with the people he loved, he felt safer. He felt happier, and lighter. His heart felt heavy in his chest when he thought how Max hadn’t experienced that since moving to Hawkins.
“What happened?” he asked.
Max stared at her hands, never once looking up. “Neil saw Lucas and I hugging before he left for camp. Hugging! He lost his mind. I told Lucas to get out of there, fast. When I got inside, he yelled at me. Grounded me, smashed my supercom,” she hugged her knees even tighter. “Then he told me, ‘I should do something about this, but I won’t. I don’t have to.’” She trembled a bit, her nails digging into her wrist. “He said that bad things happen to guys like Lucas when they go out with girls like me. He said that soon enough, someone would see us together and ‘put Lucas in his place.’”
Will’s heart was pounding in his chest, horrified at what she was saying. He thought Max’s family didn’t like Lucas, but he hadn’t considered that Lucas could be in danger because of them.
“He said more. I just can’t even say it.” Tears ran down her cheeks now, but she ignored them. “Since then its all I can think about when Lucas and I are out together. What if someone bad sees us? What if someone hurts him, just because he’s with me?”
Will scrambled to wrap his arm around her, pulling her towards his side, and she collapsed into him, resting her head on his shoulder. She was still crying – he could feel the tears on his t-shirt. His mind was racing. He wished he knew what to say, how to help, how to reassure her that it would be okay. But the thing was, he didn’t know that it would be okay.
“Does Lucas know about this?” It broke his heart to see Max so upset. He knew Lucas would be devastated.
Max shook her head, her sniffles quieting. “He knows Neil caught us and he knows I’m being weird. He can tell something’s wrong, I just…”she shrugged against Will’s shoulder. “I don’t want to hurt him.”
Will kept his arm around her, trying to ignore how sweaty it was to be so close together. His eyes roamed around the room, stopping on the picture of the party last Halloween. He stared at Lucas in the photo – smiling, happy, safe, like he should be. Like they all deserved to be. He blinked tears from his own eyes and bit his lip, trying to get his own emotions under control.
“I’m sorry your stepdad’s an asshole. I…I know a little bit what its like to have a shitty dad.”
Max’s sat up, looking at Will with concern and gave his knee a gentle squeeze. “It sucks,” she said simply, smearing a hand over her tearstained cheeks.
“Yeah, it sucks. I didn’t have this place then,” he said, gesturing around the fort, “but if I did, I would’ve hidden out here all the time. Just to get away from the yelling.”
“I need one of these,” Max said, stretching her legs out and leaning back on her hands. “Castle Mayfield doesn’t have the same ring to it, though.”
Will smiled. “I don’t know. I like it.” He uncurled his own legs up to sit the same way she was. “But if you like Castle Byers better, you’re always welcome here. Totally. All friends welcome.”
“Thanks, Will,” Max smiled for the first time in a long time, and Will felt like a weight slipped from his shoulders at the sight.
A clap of thunder made them both jump. Will peeked at the sky through a crack in the wooden wall in time to see a flash of light against the grey clouds. “The sky’s dark,” he said, “I think it’s gonna rain.”
Max blinked a stray raindrop out of her eyelashes. “I think its raining already, genius,” she teased.
The odd drop got to them, but the patchy roof of Castle Byers offered at least a bit of protection. It felt nice, and Max took the opportunity to lift her face to the rain, letting it cool her flushed cheeks and wash away her salty tears.
“Max?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks for telling me what you told me. I’m…I’m really sorry your stepdad is making things so hard.”
“Yeah, well, just be glad you don’t have one. You’re better off,” the steely gleam had returned to Max’s eyes, her mouth set in a thin line.
Will licked a stray raindrop from the corner of his lip. “I’ve never even thought of having a stepdad before, you know? My mom, Jonathan and I – we’re a good team, the three of us.” Like a flash of lighting, Bob’s face came to his mind, and he swallowed the lump in his throat. “I guess not all stepdads are bad. They can’t all be.”
Max closed her eyes and lifted her face to the rain again. “I guess.”
Will hadn’t really let his mind entertain the idea of his mom getting remarried, especially not since last fall. He hoped if his mom ever did get married, it would be to someone kind. Someone who accepted her quirks instead of fighting against them. It wasn’t likely to ever happen – who would be willing to step into his family, as burdened as they were? Who would possibly be able to handle all the issues and possible dangers that seemed to be tethered to them, no matter how hard they tried to escape them?
An idea came to his mind that made him smile. “I hope if my mom ever gets married, she marries someone better than my dad. Someone like…someone like Hopper.”
Max’s eyes flew open, her jaw dropping nearly to her knees. “What? Your mom and Hopper?”
Will laughed. “What? What’s wrong with Hopper?”
"You don't think Hopper is kind of…scary?" Max exclaimed, thinking of the commanding way the Chief carried himself, or the gruff tone he used to accuse her and El of getting into “shenanigans” whenever they were together (El said he was only teasing, but Max wasn’t always sure).
"Scary? No way! He's kind. He’s…he’s like a big teddy bear," Will said.
"Yeah, maybe with you.” Max huffed, punching Will lightly in the shoulder. “That's because he looks at you like you're made of rainbows and good intentions."
That made Will smile. "Maybe I am."
Max shook her head, her eyes shining with amusement. They sat in a comfortable silence for a moment before Will spoke again.
"You and Lucas deserve to be happy too, you know. You could be like them - like Mike and El."
Max looked at Will sadly, but her voice was hopeful. "Really? You think so?"
Will nodded in earnest. "Yeah, I do."
"I don’t know. You don't think people will judge us? That Lucas could...that he could get hurt?"
Will thought of his friend Lucas – stubborn, protective, incredibly brave; loyal to a fault. "I think Lucas can handle it. He's handled more than you know.” He bumped her sneaker with his own. “You can talk to him about this kind of stuff. His girlfriend told me he's really easy to talk to."
Max blushed, a small smile on her lips. “Thanks, Will.”
"And like I said, you’re always welcome to come here to talk or hang out whenever you want. By yourself, or with me, or with Lucas." Will had always been thankful for the safety of Castle Byers, and he wanted to pay it forward, especially to his friends. “It can be a safe space where you don’t have to hide.”
Max didn’t reply but threw herself at Will, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. Just as quickly, she leapt to her feet, reaching out her hand to help him up, too. “Come on. Dustin has probably given up now that its storming. We should get back to the clearing before they get worried about us.”
Will took her hand and let her pull him to his feet. As they stepped out of the fort and into the woods, he felt better than he had when the game started. The rain was cold, but he wasn’t afraid anymore.
“Hopper and your mom,” Max muttered under her breath, shaking her head. “There’s no way I’m not telling El about this.”

Part 1
Part 2
They had escaped the Maze, but not without a price. The only thing y/n and Newt could think was that they were thankful they had each other. They didn't know who had saved them but they knew there were off to a better place. A place far away from WCKD. y/n was curled up next to Newt, he grip was still tight around his arm. She hadn't let go since they had walked through the control room. Newt didn't want her to let go either. If she wasn't holding onto him, he would be holding onto her. He wasn't losing her a second time. Not a chance.
"What do we do about the twins?" Janson asked, his voice flat.
"Keep them together, I don't want to do that to them again," Ava Paige replied, Janson smiled and nodded. If it was up to him, they would have never been reunited. He walked away and headed to the Gladers.
"Hello," he began, once the door opened. The Gladers were all sprawled out on the floor, they had just had their first real meal, some in about 3 years. He scanned the room, he saw Thomas first. On the other side of the room was y/n and Newt, still together. He wanted to rip them away from each other. But, that would be against his orders. It wasn't how they thought it would go. WCKD hoped that y/n would latch onto Thomas instead of Newt, they didn't realise they would figure it out. This was a new angle they had to take now. "My name is Janson, I run the place around here. My job is to make sure you kids stay safe, free from WCKD, sound good doesn't it?" Janson grinned as there were some sharp breathes from the Gladers. "But, before you meet the others, we have to do something about that smell."
It was hard for y/n to leave Newt. She and Teresa were taken into a separate shower room. y/n could have fought but she had become quiet again, just how she was in the Maze. Minho looked as heartbroken as Newt as they watched her being pulled away, completely silent. Teresa wanted to talk to her, but she was scared that she might break her all over again. "We'll be back in no time," Teresa smiled to her before they stepped into separate showers.
y/n knew she should take advantage of the shower but she couldn't. She just wanted Newt, ever since they escaped she saw her parents when she closed her eyes. The only thing that could stop that was Newt because when she was away from him, she saw him. He wasn't dead but he also wasn't alive, she didn't know what he was but she thought it was something to do with that virus the woman had talked about. "y/n?" her name echoed in the shower room. It was Teresa. She turned the shower off, she was finished anyway. "It's time to go," Teresa said as she heard the shower turn off.
y/n was taken to the cafeteria, she saw a bunch of kids her age. Not one of them looked familiar. She scanned the room, hoping to see Newt but he wasn't there. She did spot an empty table, one that was nearly empty anyway. A boy sat there. She walked over and sat down on the other end of the table. They exchanged looks. He moved closer to her, "I'm Aris," he said quietly. She said nothing, she wasn't ready to talk. She just wanted her brother, or at least someone she knew. "It's alright, you'll see your friends soon. Mine have all been taken."
y/n blinked and a rush of panic went through her, Teresa had been taken off somewhere. "It's fine, it's fine," Aris repeated, seeing the panic spread across her face. "Don't worry... when did you get here?" He asked, changing the subject. She said nothing as she looked around the room, "it's alright, you don't have to talk. I knew someone in my Maze who didn't speak when they first came up in the box. I get it..." he trailed off as some more arrivals came in the door, these all boys. "New arrivals, are they from your Maze?" he asked, pointing. y/n turned. It was, she smiled at Aris, thanking him silently before running up to them. Newt pulled her into a hug and checked her over, without speaking. He was checking for any cuts and bruises. Any sign of damage on her skin.
"She's not hurt," Thomas said, seeing that y/n only wanted to hug Newt a little longer. Thomas didn't pay too much attention to them, he scanned the room for Teresa. She wasn't there. "y/n, where's Teresa?" he asked as they sat down at the table. She shrugged and looked as though she was about to cry. She was just as worried as Thomas, but y/n realised that she was useless. She couldn't save Teresa, Thomas was the opposite.
The boys had made friends with someone else that had come from a Maze. They began talking about Aris. y/n felt guilty when they said he had been here the longest. Had he been alone all this time? y/n didn't know, she wished she could ask him but her voice wouldn't allow it.
That night Newt and y/n shared a bunk, she was on the bottom. Sometimes she had a habit of falling off her bed when she was having nightmares. Tonight, however, she had the first full night sleep. Newt was very happy that they both could finally sleep, but he couldn't help thinking it wouldn't last.
The next day in the cafeteria, Teresa had walked by. Thomas had caused a scene and it was only when they had been put into their room that the Gladers understood why. Newt wasn't very happy but y/n was. She didn't like it here. Something wasn't right. Nothing ever was.
When Thomas burst through the vent, y/n jumped to the other side of the room. She was frightened and seeing Thomas running around, bolting the door. She knew that all her fears were coming true. They weren't safe here, and they never were.
"Thomas!" Newt shouted, his brotherly instincts and leadership coming out again, "what did you see?" he demanded.
Tumblr media
"It's WCKD! It's always been WCKD!" Thomas shouted. He continued to speak and shout but y/n had spotted the open vent. Aris was there, he was telling her to follow him. But, she could only see his lips moving, she couldn't hear over the shouting.
She crawled over to the vent, she knew the others would follow eventually, "where's Teresa?" y/n asked Aris. She didn't expect that to be the first thing she would say.
"I'm sorry, y/n. We don't know, but we'll find her, I promise," Aris said, smiling at her. y/n trusted him, she didn't know why. She wondered if it was because she felt sorry for him, he clearly has lost all his friends, she could see it in his eyes. She wondered what her eyes were showing. Loss? Hate? Fear? Love?
She wished she knew. She had been so confused lately, she felt trapped. She felt as though she couldn't talk to anyone and here Aris is comforting her and being there for her. He didn't even know her.
y/n just clicked, how did he know her name? Surely Thomas hadn't found the time to talk about her in the chaos.
It didn't take long for the others to follow, "you guys go ahead, there's something I gotta do," Aris said and didn't wait for anyone to follow. y/n wanted to go with Aris, but she knew Newt wouldn't let her. Besides, she wouldn't be able to ask him a million questions while they were trying to escape.
Mountain people, that was Thomas' idea. Both y/n and Newt had the same reaction when Thomas had told them. The Gladers had gotten used to them reacting and saying the same thing at the same time, but Aris was surprised. "Guys," Aris said. They stopped and turned, "we have to stop, y/n's not going to make it otherwise," he said, pointing to y/n who had stopped just before Aris had.
"No! I'm fine. Keep going!" She shouted between gasps of breath as she held onto her side. Aris could see Thomas thinking she was fine just because she said she was. Aris and Newt gave Thomas a look.
"Alright, we'll walk to find some shelter and then we will stop, okay?" Thomas said. He didn't seem too happy and Newt picked up on this. They carried on walking none the less, Aris and Newt had resulted in helping y/n walk. She was really struggling and they weren't sure why. "There!" Thomas said, pointing to some rubble which must have been a building before the Flare.
y/n was sure it was something WCKD was doing to her, she was physically fine. She looked completely fine but she just couldn't seem to make it anymore steps. "How are you?" Aris asked, handing her some food.
"I think it's WCKD, I mean they can control the mind, maybe they've-"
"I think it is too," Aris said cutting her off, he glanced over at Newt. Newt was looking over at them, "I think they're trying to keep you apart," Aris added, looking at y/n.
y/n looked at Aris, then Newt and back to Aris, she was thinking the same thing, but she didn't know how to make it stop. "Aris," y/n began, she was going to ask something she had wanted since she met him. "How did you know my name? Surely, Thomas didn't mention me," y/n took a bite of her food.
Aris smiled and laughed awkwardly, he looked away from y/n. "We knew each other before..." he trailed off. Aris didn't want to tell her, he was enjoying getting to know her all over again.
"Well, tell me more," she said with a smile. Aris' heart warmed at the sight but it soon turned cold when he remembered what he had done. She pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear, her mind suddenly clear. She realised that WCKD must have wanted this conversation to happen and it wouldn't have happened if they didn't stop. "Come on, you can't leave that there," she laughed and shuffled forward and crossed her legs in front of her. Aris now had her full attention.
"Well..." he began, "we were all part of WCKD one way or the other right?"
"Right..." she said wearily.
"Thomas and Teresa made your Maze, I made mine, with-with Rachel," he stuttered on Rachel's name, "but I was the reason you and Newt were split, you were supposed to go in a month after him..."
"Why?" y/n asked, even though he was probably getting to that bit.
Aris sighed, "I wanted to spend more time with you, so, I managed to convince Ava Paige to keep you in the control rooms. I was being selfish."
"Yes. You were. So, I could have had three years with Newt before all hell broke loose?! But didn't because you wanted me to yourself?" y/n burst out, getting to her feet, she began walking back the way she came. She was not in control of her own body. WCKD were making her act the way she was. They had put words into her mouth, making her walk back to WCKD. She tried to break free but she still carried on walking.
"WCKD have her," Aris said to the Gladers, he knew that because his y/n wouldn't act the way she had. Newt knew that too, only because he was being forced to stay where he was. He knew it was WCKD, it was always WCKD.
"What do we do now?" Thomas asked, he was lost.
"Thomas," Teresa began and they all knew what she was going to say.
Thanks for reading!

2/10/22 I came across this book a few weeks ago when I began reading CMBYN. It’s from the CMBYN Global FB fanpage.
Tumblr media
It’s their stories on what the CMBYN book and movie means to them and how they cried, screamed, had their hearts broken and yet they continued to watch. Why? Because it touched them like no other body of work had done before (and sometimes since) The especially touching stories so far were the ones that were from Gay/Bisexual people that wished they had families like Elio’s that not only supported him when they learned he was having a relationship with a  man, but actually comforted him through his heartbreak. His first heartbreak. And if they just happened to keep it together through the movie, they totally lost it at the end, when his dad gave his speech. They were done. I found the group and tried to join but reconsidered until I finish the book and watched the movie. I borrowed the sequel from the library, where Elio and Oliver reconnect years later and I’m a mess just thinking about it.  Pretty sure the clips online don’t do it justice, but I need total concentration for this one I think. This movie has me all emotional and I haven’t even seen it yet.
Tumblr media
My friend Chloe, then 18, a month shy of being 19, committed suicide. She had been dealing with a lot. This has to be one of the most vivid memories I have of her. We worked together and one day she put her phone on the counter and i glanced over and saw a really pretty collage on her lock screen. I out of curiousosity asked if she made it. She said ‘’No, it’s from a movie. It’s called Call Me By Your Name. It’s a beautiful, touching movie’’. She didnt tell me anything else, no actors. no concept, no setting, no plot. And that was it. This was 2017 when the movie came out. Yet, I didnt go see it or look into it. Mostly because I didnt have time between school and two full time jobs and no sleep. Any spare chance I got, I slept. Literally.  I pass by a book in a bookstore or at target and it's bright blue cover and bright yellow title, It stayed in the back of my mind for years, just title.. Yet it stuck with me. All this time later. Such an odd thing too. The strangest things, Chloe remind me of you.
As a bisexual former LDS member, with a family that didnt accept/understand that I cant imagine, how much it meant even more than anyone else to her.
Tumblr media
She is loved, she is missed, she is revered. I wish I got to hang with you outside of work, I wish I was a better friend, even if I didnt know to a T what made your heart break. The moment I learned you passed, heartbreak was an understatement.
Tumblr media
You think you have forever because people are young, but you really dont. Treasure your friends forever guys. Your family, your loved ones. I wish I could talk to you one last time, because you meant more to me than you can ever know. More than there are words in the sky, I feel like such an awful friend. I often wonder if you considered as you took your last breath that it wasnt a good idea. What was running through your mind, those last moments, in the back yard?, as you laid there? Did you think about your mom finding you after that arguement? Im not mad at you, I’m trying to make sense of all of this because this was 2019 and I’m still in disbelief. Your pain is gone. Whatever faith you have or dont have, let me be the first to say that Angels do exist. I didnt believe that Angels watch  over us until I got over the initial shock of Chloe's passing. I met Chloe when she was 16 and she started working at my job in VA, at first we didnt work together but she ended up being put on the night shift and we became friends. There are very few people I'd place in that category but she was a true friend. I looked forward to the nights she would work because I knew it was going to be fun and I'd have someone to hang with. We'd be there until midnight and somehow she managed to show up thr next evening with her radiant smile and her inside jokes. I remember looking at her from time to time and thinking "this is the baby sister I used to beg my mom for" unfortunately, given my 2 jobs and severe depression, I didn't get to spend as much time with Chloe outside of work. But she knew my pain as I knew hers and she understood. I'm not one to show emotion, but let it be known that Chloe is the only non-biological family member to hear an "I love you" from me. To hear that she chose to end her life a month shy of turning 19, left a deep hole not only in my heart but my soul. Why? Besides the fact that she genuinely had a bright future ahead of her and because I've been there. I've been Chloe. When I knew Chloe, I was her...and she knew. I was her the whole time. I cried so hard I gave myself migraines and facial pain because my anger for not being there at that precise moment, I still feel like such an awful person, and even if I dont forgive myself, I hope she can forgive me. Because you dont find a Chloe in every life time but if you ever do...you're blessed.I'm reminded of her daily and I can only hope I'll see her one day, but I promised myself, I'll carry on, to work hard towards those dreams that were cut too short, because that's what she would of wanted.I hope there's peace up there for you Choo-Choo. I love you.
Tumblr media
This movie is one of the few ways I can keep her memory alive.
Prepare for the waterworks.

I ADORE your Shouto finding out he has a kid stories! Could u possibly do one for Bakugou as well? Thanks hun! :D
{So…I started this and went ‘wait…Kacchan doesn’t have a freaking hero name, though?!’ and then came the awkward moment of ‘then wtf do I call him in this?!’ haha, so I’m sorry I had to try and scoot around without giving a name since a hero name is pretty important to the series, and is a representation of the character and their development! This is also pretty long, so I won’t be doing a part 2 in a little while (You can still request it, just remember that it wont come for a while since I have a Shinsou one to do and a part 3 of Todoroki’s!!ANYWAY, hope you enjoy! (OH A BIT OF A WARNING: attempted assault.)}
Rolling over in the your boyfriends warm covers, you face Katsuki and smile, a tear dropping onto his pillow. This time of the morning is the only time you can look at a peaceful Katsuki, but this time your broken heart aches in your chest at his parted lips and relaxed eyebrows. Last night, you told yourself, would be the last time you would spend the night with your love. Lightly, you kiss him on the nose, not worried about him waking as you knew he was a solid sleeper. He scrunched his face in his sleep and you giggle saddly, coughing lightly from your tears, and roll off the bed.
Finding your discarded clothes on the floor, you get dressed quickly and walk over to his desk, leaving the note you had written saying goodbye by his school bag. Taking one last look across the room you would never be back to, you smile lightly at the messy fluff of blonde peaking out from under his covers as he sprawls on the bed. Latching the door softly behind you, the click making your heart twinge with guilt. As tears slid down your cheeks, you walk out his house for the last time, leaving the key he gave you in his mailbox.
“No that…that can’t be right! I’ve only had sex a handful of times! And…and we used protection!” Your voice broke at the end.
“I’m sorry, but these are the facts. Look.” The doctor points to the exam results. “This is the hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG for short. It was in your urine and your blood. When this hormone is present, it means you’re pregnant.” The doctor concluded. Your face is still, a tear drips hotly down your face. His face turns sad, reaching out he lays his hand gently on your knee, his face turned towards yours.
“I can set up an appointment for a termination consultation, if this isn’t something you wanted. You are quite young after all.” His voice is soft, trying to support you. You swallow.
“No.” You say slightly bitterly, “I’ll have it. It’s not their fault I made the decision to leave.” You breathe in deeply. Exhaling you plaster a fake smile against your cheeks. “Thank you for your time doctor!” You say, trying to convince your mind that this will be a good thing. After all, it’s the only thing you will have in connection to your lost love. The doctor gives you a small smile.
“Ok then. If you need any help, please don’t be afraid to talk to me about it. I will be here.” You both stand up, and you turn to leave the office.
“I’ll see you in a couple of months for the ultrasound. Goodbye, and thank you.” You say, exiting the clinic, a hand on your stomach. The doctor waves goodbye.
Turning on the news in the morning, you set to work on getting your daughter ready for school.
“Honey, please sit still! Your hair is hard enough to control!” You say exasperated as you brush through the tangled mess on your daughter’s head. Somehow, her hair turned out to have the same unmanageable texture as her father, but was the same shade as yours. She fidgets slightly under the brush, grumbling about how it hurts. You sigh and decide to be lazy, just pulling it all up into a frizzy bun atop her small head. Bopping the frizzy ball of hair, you smile and say you’re finished. She jumps up and smiles brightly, and starts pulling your arm towards the kitchen.
You laugh at her antics but don’t resist. As you turn the corner into the small kitchen, you ask her what she wants to eat. Your daughter starts jumping up and down yelling “EGGS! BACON! EGGS! BACON!” You giggle and open the fridge. Upon finishing breakfast, you help clean your kid’s face with a napkin. As you wipe the paper against her squishy cheeks her eyes light up.
“BOOM MAN! BOOM MAN!” She yells, excitedly jumping out of her chair to run over to the tv. You smile.
“Don’t sit so close! Geez, girl, you’re making my head hurt!” You laugh and watch as she takes a step back and flops down onto the floor in front of the tv set, her big, red-colored eyes never leaving the screen. You turn to the tv and watch as your last lover poses for the cameras, a smirk spread across his features and your heart twinges. He still looks the same as he did when you last saw him, only now he’s working at an agency.
You laugh out loud when a reporter goes to talk to him, and then gets scared when he turns to her. His attitude hasn’t change either, it seems. Shaking your head, you tell your daughter to get ready to leave. She doesn’t act like she heard you at all, but slowly makes her way to her room while running around shouting ‘boom!’ and sticking her hands out at things, imagining they’re exploding. You turn the tv off as the news lady starts talking about a hero convention going on in your town this year.
The day was pleasant; the weather was sunny, the breeze cooling, but not chilly, and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. A perfect day to take your child to the park for some fun. As you approach the open field, you look to your daughter and snicker. Her hair had broken free of its restraints and is now flowing freely on her head, the strands going all over the place, but it doesn’t matter. Her face lights up when she ran out into the open grass.
“Mom! Mom! Fireworks! Please?!” She jumps up and down, waving her hands over head making little finger guns. You laugh and point to the sky. Spark fly from your finger and shoot into the sky, exploding into little yellow fireworks. She laughs and jumps up trying to touch them, the lingering sparks falling around her. Your quirk isn’t powerful at all, but it tends to be entertaining, the colors changing depending on your mood. She runs over to you and touches your thigh.
“Tag, your it!” She then quickly runs away, laughing. “Bet you can’t catch me!” You laugh and start the chase, your longer legs catching up to her quickly. She shrieks and runs faster. She definitely got her physical traits from her father. You slow, your heart racing from the sudden exercise. After a couple of minutes of half-heartedly running around after your little girl, you finally fall to the ground. She runs over and kneels next to you, pulling out grass and laying it on your stomach while giggling. You look up at her, a smile on your face, thanking your  earlier self for deciding on having the child. You reach out and start tickling the little girl, watching as she squirms around laughing and begging for you to stop. You stand up and lift her up. Walking out of the field you ask her what she wanted for dinner, to which she almost always replied, “Meat!”
While walking past the public bathrooms at the empty end of the park, a group of thuggish men walk out. Smirking, they start to follow you, cat-calling and chuckling. Telling your little girl to not look at the men, you place your daughter on her own feet and grab her hand tightly.
“Honey, listen to me,” You whisper, she looks up at you, her face no longer holding a smile, her eyes look worried. You continue, “What do you do when I tell you to do something?” You ask, she inhales deeply, and then without a second of hesitation, she responds.
“I follow it without question.” You smile down at her and give her hand a little squeeze. She tries to smile up at you, but it is crooked. You whisper some instructions to her.
Suddenly, a harsh hand grips your shoulder and pulls you backwards. Looking over your shoulder, you see one of the men holds a knife and the others have activated their quirks causing a change in their appearances: one has long, snake-like fingers, while another has sharp teeth peeking out from behind a sinister smile, the others’ are harder to see. You release your little girl’s hand and she runs away from the group, leaving you with the men.
“Hey! Stop!” One of them yells stepping forward. He was stopped by the guy that had grabbed your shoulder.
“Nah, let ‘er go, man, she won’t be fun to play with anyway.” He says, smirking in your face. You snarl at him. “Ha! This one has spunk!” He reaches for your face, but you step back, looking down your nose at him. You make a finger gun at his face.
“Back up, and don’t touch me again.” You say, feigning toughness. You know that your quirk doesn’t hurt very much, if not at all, but it can be used as a distraction to buy you some time to run away. You take a few steps away from the group. The leader, who holds his hands up in front of his chest, smiles.
“Aww, come on, babe! We just wanna have some fun~” He says taking a step towards you. You hold up your other hand, pointing towards him with that one as well. He continues stepping in time with you. You ‘tsk’ and fire your sparks, the red and purple fireworks flashing through the group as they stumble into each other in chaos. You turn and start to sprint, but your arm gets yanked from behind, and you land on your butt. Gasping at the pain in your shoulder, you look behind you to see the snake-fingered man grasping your upper arm.
“That wasn’t very nice!” The leader says, leaning down to grab your chin roughly. “We were going to be gentle, but maybe you don’t prefer that?” He begins to pull at your shirt. You yell and punch at him, but he punches you in the face. “Stop makin’ such a fuss.” He leans over you and starts to pull at your shirt again, but he is suddenly thrown away from you.
With wide eyes, you watch as the man, who was hit by a trash bin, flies through the air past his group. Everyone’s face is covered in shock. You slowly turn to look in the direction of your savior, and your face turns from shock to horror.
“K-Katsuki…” You breathe out quietly. Attached to his leg was your little girl, tears falling down her face as she grasped tightly onto the leg of her hero. Katsuki wasn’t looking at you, and instead walked past you to stand in front of the groupies.
“The fuck are you still doing here?! You wanna die?!” He lifts his hands up, mini explosions releasing from his palms. The group screamed and ran away from him. He put his hand down, snarled, and looked down at you. He froze, his face unreadable.
“(F-F/N)…?” His voice was soft, but it cracked a little at the end. Your heart squeezed in your chest, but the moment was over when your little girl ran over to you.
“MOM!” She wailed into your ear as she tightly hugged you. You caress her head, kissing her tear-soaked cheek, whispering to her to try and calm her down. When she is finally calmed down, and her sniffles are the only thing heard, you carefully stand up. You sneak a glance over Katsuki’s direction, and flinch. His face is covered in shock and confusion, an angry frown on his lips. You sigh.
“Thank you.” You say, he flinches at your words. “You really saved me!” You smile half-heartedly, hoping he doesn’t catch the sadness in your voice. “N-now then, come on honey, let’s go home!” You start to move, but your daughter runs over to Katsuki and stares up at his face. He snarls, unintentionally down at her.
“What, kid?” He says, his voice bitter. He takes a step back. Your daughter giggles and sniffles.
“Thank you!” She shouts, her voice scratchy from her earlier wailing, but her eyes sparkle as they take in her favorite hero. He looks down at her and a little smile appears on his face, causing your heart to ache.
“You don’t need to thank me. It’s what a hero does.” He says, roughly petting her frizzy hair. She giggles. Then it’s like a light flickers on in her head.
“MOM! He’s coming for dinner!” She yells, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards you. Shocked at your daughter’s sudden outburst, you take a step back and look wide-eyed at Katsuki. He looks just as shocked as you, but doesn’t say anything against the idea. You swallow.
“Um…” You stare at Katsuki, but then look at your daughter, and her puppy eyes pull at your heart strings. “Huuuuughh, fine! If Bakugou-san wants to come for dinner, he can!” You say, blushing, looking away from the two of them. The little girl squeals and begins to pull Katsuki by the arm. You giggle at his face of discomfort and awkwardness, as he is being dragged by the small girl. He looks up and makes eye contact with you, but you look away quickly.
Once the three of you make it to your apartment, which wasn’t very far from the park, you unlock the door and your daughter runs inside, releasing Katsuki from the death grip. He grumbles and rubs his hand, looking around the small front door.
“Sorry, she can be a little hyperactive…you are her favorite hero after all.” You explain, rubbing the back of your head in apology. He growls out an ‘it’s ok’, but doesn’t say anything more. You walk into your place, and offer Katsuki a drink. He doesn’t answer so you turn back to him.
Standing in front of the little table right inside the door, Katsuki picks up one of the several frames sitting on the top. Your face pales.
“So…it’s just you and her?” He grumbles, looking out the corner of his eye at your face. You swallow, you knew this was coming, but you were still afraid of the outcome.
“Y-yeah…just me and her.” You try to avoid the obvious, hoping he doesn’t ask about the father. He places the picture back down calmly, his movements slow and strong. You develop a cold sweat, this uncharacteristic behavior always bothered you, and you knew he was connecting some dots in his head.
“She’s what…4?” He walks over to you, his face looking towards the floor. You nod, knowing that he can still see your movements. He looks up slowly. He opens his mouth to ask, but is suddenly interrupted by a loud screaming. The two of you turn quickly and rush into the living room.
Turning the corner, the two of you freeze, and then seemingly deflate. Your daughter is now cheering and hollering in front of the TV, rewatching the same rerun episode of Hero, Inc. that features none other than the man who is in her house already. You slowly look over to Katsuki, and break out in laughter. His face is bright red as your little girl runs over to him, chattering question after question and different comments on how cool he is. He looks into her sparkly eyes and it’s like the last dot is connected in his mind. He places a hand over the little girl’s mouth and looks over to you.
“You’ve got to be fuckin kidding me.” He says, his cold words cutting into your heart. Your laughter stops and the whole room turns quiet. He takes his hand away from the girl’s mouth and walks briskly over to you, a weird look on his face. He grabs your arm harshly and pulls you into a different room, slamming the door closed. Whipping you around, he pushes your back against the wall of your bedroom and slams his hand against the wall beside your head.
“Is that my daughter?” He asks, his voice low and deep. You swallow.
“Yes. She’s yours…ours.” You answer, your voice strong, but tears threaten to fall from your eyes. He looks down, and you can no longer make out his expression.
“Why…why didn’t you tell me?” He whispers, sounding hurt. “Why did you leave?” He asks, the last word cracking a bit. You swallow your tears. Reaching up, you place your hand against his cheek and find it slightly damp. You breathe in a shaky breath and bring his face up to look him in the eyes. Your answer was cut off when you heard his cellphone ring in the emergency tone. His body twitched at the sound. You smiled lightly and placed your other hand on his other cheek.
“Answer it.” You say. He nods and picks up the phone, backing up a little from you. He growls a response into the phone.
“Yeah. I’ll be there in 5.” He says, slamming a finger down to hang up. He doesn’t look at you. “I have to go.” He rushes out of the room, and you chase him. As he is putting on his shoes, and your daughter grabs your pants leg asking what’s going on, you speak.
“Katsuki.” He freezes in his movements and looks up, his eyes telling you how confused he is on the inside. You smile. “We are free every weekday after 5, and weekends.” He smirks, and sighs, closing his eyes.
“Ah.” He says and gets up to open the door. “I’ll see you soon.” and he closes the door behind him leaving the house filled with silence. You look down at your daughter, and she looks up at you, her red eyes blinking in confusion. You giggle and rub her head.
{Can I just say that as I reread this, I was thinking that a side story of Katsuki getting approached by the daughter would be so funny! If anyone wants that, just ask! Sorry it was so long haha
Edit: Here is the sub-story haha}

To Shelter a Storm
It was 4 am when your phone started to ring. 4 am when you groaned against your pillow, forced yourself to roll over, and nearly threw your phone as it blinded you with light. Though you couldn’t see the name on the screen thanks to the brightness you knew exactly who it was calling you, and it made your eyebrows knit together in frustration.
If he actually stayed on the line when you answered maybe you wouldn’t be so pissed off, but when you answered and grumbled a ‘hello’ in the speaker the line went immediately dead. You almost threw your phone again in late night fury. How dare he wake you up for no reason? Half of you wanted to call him back just incase something truly was wrong (not uncommon for him, after all) but the other half decided fuck it, and you tossed your phone somewhere down by your waist and rolled right back over. Just because he was your boyfriend didn't mean you had to deal with all his late-night antics.
Ring ring, ring ring.
You snatched your phone so quick it astounded even you in your tiredness.
“What Nathan?” you huffed, sitting up. There was silence. “Don’t you fucking dare hang up.”
“Don’t tell me what to do.”
You flopped back on your back and pulled the covers up. “Why are you calling me again in the middle of the night.”
“Because I can?”
“Yeah, sure,” you rolled over. “Is something wrong or are you just insistent on making sure you ruin my sleeping schedule?”
“I don’t owe an explanation to you.”
“Jesus christ Nathan, stop being so stubborn.” If you from a year ago heard yourself talking like this to Nathan Prescott you’d have shit your pants, but he’d been calling you well late into the night for months now. At this point if he killed you it would be mercy. Plus he was your boyfriend now, you weren’t as scared of him as you probably should have been.
“Maybe I just want to make sure my phone’s working.” He sounded distracted on the other end.
“Then call one of your other late-night buddies. I bet Warren would value a midnight chat.”
“Shut up, you bitch.” Nathan spat, but there wasn’t any real venom behind it. Not like when you’d first met.
“I’m serious Nathan, stop calling me in the middle of the night. Or at least don’t hang up right when I answer the first time.”
“Why should I? You have no problem calling me during class.”
“Because the teachers don’t give a shit about what you do, Nathan. I’m not as privileged. I need my sleep.”
He scoffed. “Jesus fuck, ___, sorry you have to suffer so much.”
“Aaand I’m hanging up. Night, Nathan. Love ya’.” You pulled the phone from your ears, ready to press the taunting big red ‘hang up’ button, but his voice stopped you.
“Okay, okay, wait.” You waited silently. He huffed. “Just- Wait a minute, damn.”
“Wait for what?” Try as you might you couldn’t hide the annoyance in your tone.
You heard a clatter of movement on his end, followed by a sharp ‘shit’. He sounded outside, the wind making you pull the phone from your ears. “One minute.”
Rolling your eyes, you stared up at the ceiling and fought the urge to fall back asleep. When he didn’t come back for a minute you almost did, but was jolted back into consciousness when he began to speak again.
“Have you talked to Vic?”
Even though he couldn’t see it, you frowned. “Are you kidding me? You’re having girl problems?”
“Fuck you, ___! You know it’s not like that. She’s just-. She was supposed to meet me outside and she’s not here. I think she fell asleep, god damn it.” The frustration in his tone made you bite back another short tempered retort. “So here I am, sitting outside even though it’s fucking freezing.”
“What do you want me to do about it?” When there was silence you knew exactly what he wanted. “Damn it, Nathan. I just said I needed sleep.”
“Come on, don’t be a bitch about it. You knew exactly what you were getting into the minute you picked up the phone. Plus it’s not like it’s the first time you’ve snuck out after hours. Remember when you used to creep on me by the rocks?” He spoke about it like he was fond of the memory.
“Jesus Nathan you know I wasn’t creeping on you.” You ran a hand through your hair and sighed. “Fine. Fine. But only for like, 10 minutes. That’s it, then I come back and you get to freeze your ass off alone for however long you want.”
“Awesome. Hurry the hell up.”
“Whatever.”
Sneaking out of your room was not an issue. You’d done it so many time’s at this point you were more than confident about you’re ‘hiding behind walls’ skills- not that it mattered. At most there was usually only one guard keeping watch and she was a lousy one at that, leaning against walls on her phone or chilling in one of the lounge chairs. Once she fell asleep and you fought the urge to write on her face. Sometimes, though, there was just no one. They ‘trusted’ the students enough to make good choices, and you were living proof that the honor code was complete bullshit. It worked out in your favor, though, so you couldn’t complain.
Tonight was one of the nights where the halls were clear of any security guards, so it was an easy trip opening one of the windows and hopping out so you wouldn’t trigger the system alarm settled on the dorms. Apparently someone had broken into one of the rooms months ago and no one ever said a thing, just quietly installed system alarms onto the doors and pretended like it was mandatory.
“It’s for the students safety!” Said Principle Well’s. “You can rest easy now!”
The only reason you learned there was a break in was from one of your friends who happened to know the dude responsible for it, and you asked her to smack him for you since he made it that much harder to sneak out at night. Thankfully the windows were overlooked which was dumb because they were even easier to climb out of than get out the door. Plus there was one right next to your room.
Outside was cold and biting but you didn’t mind, huddling your arms together for a chance of warmth as you snaked around the building and made your way past the front doors, then the hedges surrounding, and finally out towards the fountain. You felt exposed beneath the orange streetlight but you knew no one was outside paying attention anyways.
Nathan, like expected, was sitting on the edge of the fountain looking around like he was in trouble. It made you shake your head in a sort of disapproving way, the dude needed to lighten up for once in his life. Then again, maybe he shouldn't. You knew some shit on Nathan and perhaps it was for the best he kept his guard up at all times. Looking over his shoulder he saw you and leaned back, waving you to come closer, and you did.
“Hope you’re happy.” you mumbled, plopping down next to him and huffing. “It’s so fucking cold out. You owe me for this, Prescott.”
“No I don’t.” He said nonchalantly. You gave a defeated laugh and shook your head again.
“No, you don’t.”
There was a silence and immediately you picked something up.
“Were you smoking?” you asked, propping your elbows up and resting your chin on your hands.
“I was but I ran out.” He shoved his hands into his pockets, staring up at the sky for a minute before looking back down at you. “I thought Vic was coming so I just blew through mine. She usually brings more.”
You laughed again, licking at your lips. “Don’t you ever get tired of smoking?” You knew the answer but you asked anyways. He shrugged curtly, and you frowned. For someone who couldn’t relax a moment in his life (save for when he was almost dead-drunk) he was being oddly quiet. Usually at night he talked a lot, much more than when he did when he was around students. Maybe the solitude made him feel more open.
Leaning back to look at him, you sighed. “Everything okay?” Now it was his turn to hunch forward, but instead of just relaxing he ran his hands rather roughly through his hair. “What’s wrong?”
“Everything.” he grunted, and for a moment you almost forgot who he was and went to rub his back. “Everything’s always wrong.”
“Even us?” You watched him from the corners of your eyes, listening to the fountain behind you. It was obvious what his answer would be, but you knew him. Remind him some things are good.
Nathan swallowed and let his hands fall back down onto his lap.
“We’re good.”
Then, you did reach out, touch tentatively at the area between his shoulder blades. For just a moment you could feel him tense beneath your touch but before you had the chance to pull away he managed to relax, even leaned into the feeling. You flattened your palm and gently ran it down, then up. He rolled his shoulders.
“Good.” You whispered. Leaning forward so that you could see his expression was a dangerous move given his spontaneous nature but you did it anyways. Something was eating at him. “Do you want to talk about it?”
For a minute he shook his head, then he gave a defeated huff. His reply was almost entirely what you expected it to be:
“Dad.” You fought the urge to ball your fists against his upper back when he kept going. “Son of a bitch threatened me. Again.”
Ah, yes, Mr. Prescott. The Myth, the man, the legend, the absolute asshole. You didn’t know a whole lot about him since you spared Nathan the awkward and spiteful conversation, but from you could gather he was a strictly businessman. No if’s, and’s, or buts, and definitely no ‘no’s. He was a verbally abusive jerk who apparently enjoyed picking on Nathan’s choice of habits, and even though part of you could agree that they weren’t what he needed, you hated the fact that his father used cold threats rather than actually trying to reach out and help him. He was just as much to blame as Nathan was for his son’s horrible life style.
But, still, despite Nathan’s anger, despite his hate and hurt, you loved him. So you continued to rub his back. He wasn’t perfect but he’s what you wanted, and you’d made that choice a year ago.
“What a dick.” you murmured, and Nathan nodded. For a time there was another silence until you broke it. “Hey, it’s cold out here. Do you maybe wanna head inside?” You almost couldn’t recognize the softness in your tone but he could, and he nodded again. For someone as explosive as he was, someone who despised being ‘talked down to’ and being ‘treated like a child’, he responded to softness well. You’d never bring his attention to it but he followed kindness like a moth follows light.
He didn’t make a move to get up until you did, and when you were both standing you took the chance to lean up and place a chaste kiss on his cheek. He still smelled like weed but you didn’t say anything. He didn’t respond to the action and you thought maybe for a moment it made him upset for some unknown reason, but then, without meeting your gaze, he pulled you in for a hug.
His hugs weren’t comfortable, you’d learned. He was uncertain even after months of doing so, unsure where to rest his hands and where exactly to wrap his arms around. He was bony and angular and sometimes it felt like just straight up hugging stone, but this was Nathan. The hateful, uncaring and menacing Prescott with a chip on his shoulder, and he was hugging you, at least making an effort to be affectionate, to be docile. So, you wrap your arms right back around him. You lean your head against his chest and close your eyes, and you sigh against his collarbones. He could use the warmth.
Then, just as it began, he pulls away. You’ve also learned that he isn’t a fan of long hugs. He’d never given you a reason why but you guessed it had something to do with his issue about touching. It was confusing at times- when you two were alone in the other’s room he couldn’t get his hands off of you, rather it be cuddling or ‘other things’, but outside of that he bristled like a porcupine when you so much as ran your fingers over his own. It wasn’t because he was embarrassed of you, and you knew that for a fact when he kissed you in front of some kid you’d never met before to prove a point. He just had… Issues. Deep rooted issues that you fully intended on helping him smooth out.
“Yours or mine?” You asked softly, looking up at him, giving him the choice. Suddenly he lowered his head and groaned in shame.
“Yours,” He said. “I somehow managed to fucking lock myself out for the night.” You put a hand over your mouth to muffle a laugh and he rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, asshole. It’s so funny.”
“It is funny!” You giggled. “How did you manage that?”
He kicked at the concrete beneath his feet, and spoke quietly, quickly. “The window closed behind me.”
A burst of laughter made it’s way out of you and you leaned forward for a moment, imaging the look of ‘fuck’ on his face when he heard the lock click behind him. Nathan Prescott, the master of sneaking out and being shady, got outsmarted by a window.
“Stupid fucking alarm systems.” He fumed, shoving his hands into his pockets. “If I wasn’t already in trouble I’d just walk the fuck in. Screw everyone trying to sleep.”
You laughed again. “Is that why you were meeting with Victoria?”
He rolled his eyes. “I was gonna’ call you at first but you,” He used finger quotations, “need your beauty sleep.”
It warmed you to think that he considered your comfort over his own, even if it was for a brief time only. “Maybe if you didn’t call me so often at night I wouldn’t complain as much.”
“Yeah well, too bad.” He mumbled, and there it was. He was right back to being himself. “So are we gonna’ go or?”
“Yeah, but I have to warn you, the window might just lock you out again.”
“Shut the hell up.”
The window held up it’s end for the night, remaining open for the duration of your trip and up to when you two climbed inside. It was funny watching him move quicker than usual, like a person crawling out of a broken elevator. When he was up on his feet he smugly grinned at you and led you to your own dorm. Just like when you left there wasn’t a soul up and moving around except for you two. It was alluring, almost, knowing that in a building of nearly 100+ kids you two were probably the only ones awake. Everything was silent, almost echoing when he opened your door and walked in, finding his way to bed and falling down onto it face first.
“Graceful.” You teased, sitting beside him. He rolled onto his side and welcomed you to nestle against him. “And chivalrous.”
“”Fuck off,” He said, and just like earlier there was no bite to his tone. “I’m tired.”
“Climbing into a window really took that much out of you?” You settled next to him, sitting up and he found his way against your side. You wrapped your arms around him. In the course of your relationships you learning something shocking: Nathan was a cuddler behind closed doors. Well, that, and the realization that he liked to be the little spoon. You had no issue with it- he liked to feel protected and you liked having something to wrap your arms around. Everyone wins.
Since his head was resting on your chest you couldn’t see his face, but you just knew it was a glare at the disgruntled huff that left his lips. You sighed and ran your hand over the top of his hair, letting him relax against you.
“Come on Nathan,” you cooed. “You know I’m only joking.”
“I know.” He replied quietly, and if you hadn’t been with him for as long as you were you’d be surprised at the lack of anger in his tone. “I’m just… I don’t know. My dad’s so far up my ass I can almost taste the keyboard he uses type up email threats.”
You grimaced. “That’s gross.”
“Yeah, you’re fuckin’ telling me.”
“It’ll get better.” you said, even though you knew those weren’t the words he wanted to hear. He scoffed but didn’t move away.
“Oh yeah, I’m sure they will.” you could almost hear him rolling his eyes. “Things will get better when I’m 40 and have kids of my own to fuck up.”
“Don’t say that,” you frowned. “They’ll get better long before that. When school's out we can-...” you sighed, licked at your lips nervously, and said something that had been weighing at you for months. “We can run away.”
The silence was deafening.
“Run away?” He suddenly whispered, and it wasn’t really a question. It sounded like he was playing the idea in his head, imagining what it would be like.
“Yeah,” you breathed, petting his hair soothingly. “We can get out of here. Me and you, and Victoria if she wants to come.”
Victoria used to piss you off, made you feel threatened. She was beautiful and had more years of experience with Nathan than you did, knew secrets you could only hope to wonder about, could pick him out of a crowd blindfolded. Yes, she used to make you feel so small, but it changed when Nathan always came back to you. He kissed you, held you, loved you, and that was huge. Love wasn’t something he thought he could feel, but it was there, and it was for you. When you finally grasped that concept Victoria wasn’t a problem anymore. If anything you welcomed her- Nathan could use all the open arms and outlets he could get.
“Where would we go?” Nathan sounded interested now, and your heart lifted at the thought of him actually taking your statement into consideration.
You leaned back, stared up at the ceiling. “Anywhere,” you said. “And everywhere.” He shifted against you and you finally felt him relax. You smiled. “Sound good?”
“Hell yeah.” He said with a breath, and you could hear his exhausted smile. “No more shitty blackwell, no more shitty Arcadia Bay, and best of all no more shitty dad.”
You giggled in tired delight, feeling your eyes grow heavy. “We’ll see everything together, won’t we?”
When Nathan said something, slurred and soft, you almost asked him to repeat himself. But, you stopped yourself having been in this exact spot so many times- he’d fallen asleep. He always had a habit of saying things just as he was passing out and at times it annoyed you- you wanted to know what he had said, but other times it was endearing, like he just couldn’t keep himself awake but also wanted to continue your useless conversation. You warmed up at the thought of knowing Nathan did these things- things that no one else but you would know.
You relished in Nathan’s eased state of mind, his head tucked beneath your chin as you pet over his hair. No one knew him like you knew him, knew how small he could be when he didn’t have his walls built sky high. No one knew how easy he fell apart, or molded against you. You were the only one who knew that when he fell asleep peacefully, not induced from a narcotic or drug, he looked like an angel. So relaxed, so peaceful. No one knew he sometimes talks in his sleep, or that his favorite sleeping position (when alone) is on his stomach.
No one would get to know him like you, and it was an oddly possessive but calming thought. Only you could wrap your arms around him, feel him melt against your body as he let you hold him. His anger can only last for so long, you’ve picked up. He burns out quicker than he’d like to admit. He sometimes thinks he’s indestructible, that he’s a wildfire that can burn forever. But, even the mightiest fires can be doused. Even the harshest of storms have a calm. After struggling to learn him and his ways, you figured it out. This, curled up beside you and vulnerable, was his calm.
You leaned your head back against the headboard. It was 5:30 am now, you’d be up for school in less than two hours, but you couldn’t bring yourself to move. You could sleep sitting up just fine. You didn’t want to risk moving and waking him up. Instead, you imagined a better time. A time where he wasn’t calling you in the middle of the night, masking a break down in bitter laughter or drugs. You imagined a time where you’d hop in his car, one bag packed each, and Nathan would hit the gas pedal so hard the entire car would jerk with it’s start up. It wouldn’t matter who stared, or pointed. The two of you were never coming back.
Now leaving Arcadia Bay.
You could almost see it behind your eyes when they closed, and boy was it a wonderful sight. Long day’s and even longer nights with him. So many sights to see, so many things to do without the chains of Nathan’s father breathing down his neck. No one could tell either of you what to do when you would be out on the road. You knew it would be hard. He was hard. He was loud and irrational and at times tiresome but it always came back around when he’d shove his pride to the side and settle next to you, apologizing, trying to get better. He was always trying to get better. Even now you could pick out the differences in his demeanor since when you’d first met him. He wasn’t as quick to argue with you anymore. He still had trouble believing he was in the wrong but he’d progressed in listening to you, and just him trying was enough to let you believe he could get past all of his emotional baggage.
Now leaving Arcadia Bay.
It was almost so close you could touch it, reach out and drag your fingers over the old and weather-worn sign. You could almost hear Nathan sitting in the driver's seat beside you, asking where you wanted to go first. It was a warm and inviting image and when it lulled you to sleep, you smiled, pet his hair again. The last thing you heard was his sleepy noise of content, and the last thing you felt was his arm squeeze you just a bit tighter.

Chapter Nineteen: The Body in the Library
Over the next month, the Doctor initiated Jenny into life in the TARDIS. They let the ship take them where she wanted, and she gave them exactly what Jenny had wanted: whole new worlds, civilisations saved, and an awful lot of running.
Today, Jenny watched eagerly as the Doctor slowly circled the TARDIS console, setting the parameters of the randomiser. While it could be left open to all of space and time, it was also possible to narrow the possibilities.
No to war and natural disaster, he thought, turning those dials all the way off. A few days ago, they’d landed in the middle of a wildfire and had spent hours relocating the population. He still felt like he could smell smoke, even though he knew it was his imagination.
Mutter’s Spiral, alpha quadrant… He glanced at Rose and Donna, sitting on the jump seat finishing their tea. And within a hundred years of Rose and Donna’s time.
He reached for the dematerialisation lever, and all three ladies grabbed onto the railing. The Doctor threw the lever, then laughed as the TARDIS rocked into motion, taking them through time and space.
“Where are we going?” Jenny yelled over the grinding sound of the engines.
“Not a clue,” the Doctor replied. “Someplace fun, I hope!”
When the ship landed, he was the first one down the ramp and out the door. The TARDIS was parked beside a thick stone wall, and he took a deep breath of the fresh air as he stepped through the opening in the wall into the warm sunshine.
“Oh, smell that air,” the Doctor said to Rose, Donna, and Jenny as they followed him outside. “Grass and lemonade. And a little bit of mint. A hint of mint. Must be the nineteen-twenties.”
Jenny looked up at him, her mouth hanging open. “You can tell what year it is just by smelling?”
The Doctor nodded sagely. “Oh, yeah.”
Rose scolded him telepathically for the fib, but Donna wasn’t nearly so subtle. She rolled her eyes and pointed to the gate just twenty yards away.
“Or maybe that big vintage car coming up the drive gave it away,” she said drolly.
The large touring automobile definitely suggested a time period, and the four of them watched as it rolled past them. “You never know.” The Doctor tugged on his ear. “Maybe I can smell it, too.”
Donna rolled her eyes. “Come on, Jenny,” she said, linking her arm through the younger woman’s. “Let’s leave your father and his superior nose back here while we go get a closer look at where we’ve landed.”
Jenny barely spared the Doctor and Rose a glance over her shoulder as she and Donna hurried along the drive to the large Tudor manor.
Rose took the Doctor’s arm and they followed at a more leisurely pace. “Why didn’t you mention time senses to Jenny?” she asked.
The Doctor looked down at her, a furrow between his brows. “I don’t know if she’ll have time senses,” he explained. “She’s like me in a lot of ways, but she didn’t regenerate. She’s never been near the Untempered Schism or looked into the Time Vortex.” He sighed and looked ahead to where Jenny and Donna were hiding behind a corner of the building, watching the goings-on in front of the house. “She’s so excited to be like me. I didn’t want to explain just yet that there’s one more way she might not be.”
Rose stared at him, taking in the worry lines around his eyes as he considered ways to explain something to his daughter that might disappoint her. Emotions welled up in her heart, and she shifted closer to the Doctor and ran her free hand over his arm.
I really love you, she told him as they joined Donna and Jenny.
In answer, the Doctor gently tugged his arm free and wrapped it around her shoulders. He pulled her close and pressed a kiss to her temple, then smiled at Jenny and Donna. “So, what have we missed?” he asked as a young vicar rode up on his bicycle, joining the butler and another man on the front steps of the manor.
Donna smirked. “The butler is Greeves, and that bloke is Professor Peach. It’s like something out of a murder mystery!”
Greeves nodded at the newly-arrived vicar. “Reverend Golightly. Lady Eddison requests you make yourselves comfortable in your rooms. Cocktails will be served on the lawn from half past four.”
“You go on up,” Professor Peach told the reverend. “I need to check something in the library.”
“Oh?” the vicar asked.
The professor shook his head slightly. “Alone.”
“It’s supposed to be a party,” the vicar chided mildly. “All this work will be the death of you.” The two men smiled at each other as they entered the house.
“Never mind Planet Zog,” Donna said. “A party in the nineteen-twenties—that’s more like it.”
The Doctor nodded. “The trouble is, we haven’t been invited. Oh, I forgot.” He pulled out the psychic paper and waved it in front of Donna and Jenny. “Yes, we have.” He tucked it back in his pocket, then wiggled his eyebrows in a cheeky smile and whirled around to go back to the TARDIS.
“What was that thing Dad just showed us?” Jenny asked.
“It’s called psychic paper,” Rose explained as they walked back to the TARDIS to change into period clothes. She pulled her own out and showed Jenny. “See, it’s just a blank sheet of paper, but we can make it say whatever we want—whatever will make the people looking at it listen to us.”
Jenny nodded. “So Dad will show them that paper, and they’ll think it’s an invitation to the party?”
The Doctor unlocked the TARDIS and held the door open. “Exactly!”
She looked into the ship, then back at the estate before frowning at them. “And… why did we come back here?”
Rose grinned. “A party in the nineteen-twenties means we get to dress up,” she explained. “Come on!”
Donna and Jenny followed her down the corridor, up the stairs, and past the bins. Rose paused in front of the door to the wardrobe room and waited to push it open until they were right behind her.
A broad grin spread across her face at their matching gasps of amazement. “Welcome to the Wardrobe Room,” she said, waving expansively at the three storey room. “You can come back later and poke around, but for now, I think we’ll find what we’re looking for over here.”
The TARDIS had set out a rack of dresses circa the mid nineteen-twenties. “Choose one you like,” Rose said, already examining the options. “Not one of the fancier ones though—we’ll save those to change into for dinner.”
“Oh, this is brilliant!” Donna said. “I’ve always wanted to be a flapper.”
“What’s a flapper?” Jenny asked.
“A bold young woman of the nineteen-twenties.” Rose pulled out a dress with a handkerchief hemline that would fall just past her knees. The colour was an unusual lilac ombre, and she instantly fell in love with it.
The TARDIS had provided three changing rooms, complete with a vanity and mirror. Rose slipped into the first and changed into the dress, then quickly did her hair so it fell around her shoulders in loose waves.
By the time Rose had put on the matching lilac flats and tucked her sonic screwdriver and psychic paper in the waiting purse, Donna and Jenny were already dressed and laughing over some joke, waiting for her on the chaise lounge. The copper bead work on Donna’s dress set off her red hair beautifully, and Jenny had chosen a simple dress in robin’s egg blue that made her look like the innocent she was.
They stood up when she joined them. “Come on, Rose!” Jenny danced eagerly towards the door. “We’ve been in here for twenty-five minutes, and Dad’s getting impatient.”
Rose nodded—she could almost taste the Doctor’s impatience. Then she realised what Jenny had just said, and she stopped in the doorway. “You can tell exactly how much time has passed?”
Jenny nodded. “Shouldn’t I be able to?” she asked. “I figured that was part of why we’re called Time Lords, so I didn’t even mention it.”
Rose laughed and linked her arms with her and Donna. “You were absolutely right,” she assured Jenny. “The Doctor didn’t know if you’d have time senses, though.”
She shook her head and chuckled to herself. No need to worry about Jenny being disappointed not to have time senses, love, she told him as they walked down the corridor. She just told me how long we’d kept you waiting, to the minute. The Doctor’s mind eased into relaxed excitement, and she could tell he was looking forward to teaching Jenny how to use her time senses.
“What’s Dad going to wear?” Jenny asked as they walked back to the console room. She blinked when Rose and Donna both laughed.
Donna snorted. “Your dad wears the same thing every day.” She fixed a pointed gaze on Rose, daring her to disagree. “Having the same suit in two colours doesn’t count.”
Rose shrugged; she couldn’t argue with that, especially not when he’d only worn the brown suit for more than a year. “Well, he wears a tux sometimes, if it’s necessary.” She bit her lip. “He looks really, really good in a tux,” she added.
Donna rolled her eyes. “Yeah, maybe. If your taste runs to blokes skinny enough to give you a paper cut.” She shook her head when Rose started to protest. “You can’t tell me he isn’t ridiculously skinny. And I don’t want to hear about what those suits might be hiding.”
Rose’s cheeks turned red, and Donna grinned at her. “Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
The Doctor pounded on the door as they reached the console room. “We’ll be late for cocktails,” he shouted through the door.
The three women laughed, then Donna darted forward to block the doorway. “Now. Here’s how we’re going to do this. Once he sees you, Rose, he won’t even notice how lovely Jenny and I look. So we’re going out first, and then you can follow after a moment.”
Rose gaped at her, and that gave Donna the second she needed to step out of the TARDIS, arm-in-arm with Jenny. She didn’t miss the way the Doctor’s gaze slid past her, but she shut the door before he saw Rose.
Donna struck a pose, and Jenny imitated her, putting her hand on her hip. “What do you think?” Donna asked the Doctor. “Flapper or slapper?”
He blinked a few times, and she tensed, waiting for a teasing comment. But instead, a genuine smile spread across his face as he looked at her and Jenny. “Flappers. You both look lovely.”
Donna curtsied. “Thank you,” she said, putting on a posh voice.
The Doctor nodded, but his gaze drifted to the closed door behind her. Donna rolled her eyes, then spun around and rapped once on the door. She pulled Jenny out of the way before it opened. “Watch this,” she told the young woman.
The TARDIS door swung open. Donna and Jenny couldn’t see Rose from where they were, but watching the Doctor’s face, it was obvious when he first saw her. His eyes widened, alight with love and adoration as he stepped towards her.
Rose’s hand appeared first, and he took it and brushed a kiss over her knuckles. Then she stepped out into the sunlight and smiled up at him. The Doctor let go of her hand and pushed a curl back over her ear before leaning down to kiss her gently.
“Oh!” Jenny whispered. “I can feel that.”
“That is just weird,” Donna moaned. “All of you, absolutely mad.”
Jenny shook her head. “No, I just mean… they’re happy. Really, properly happy.”
“Happy is one word for it,” Donna muttered, but she couldn’t hide her own smile. She teased them about it, but watching the Doctor and Rose together gave her hope of finding love one day.
And yet… she thought when the Doctor wrapped an arm around Rose’s waist and pulled her close. “Oi!” she called out, getting the attention of the kissing couple. “If you’re done necking, I thought we were supposed to gather on the lawn for cocktails.”
“We were just… We weren’t necking,” the Doctor protested, and the tips of his ears turned red. Rose took his hand, and he sighed. “But yes, we need to make our way to the lawn.”
The Doctor cleared his throat as they approached the house. “There’s one thing we haven’t talked about,” he said, keeping his voice low. “I think it would draw the least amount of notice if we introduced Jenny as our daughter, Rose, instead of just mine. Certainly, it requires the least amount of explanation if we’re married and she’s ours.”
Rose nodded. “I was thinking the same thing. Then we won’t get any questions about what happened to her mum.”
Jenny looked at them both, biting her lip in anticipation. “So you’re Mum and Dad today?” she asked.
“Yep,” the Doctor confirmed as they rounded the corner of the house, following the sounds of tinny music floating from a gramophone.
“And I can be your family friend, travelling with you,” Donna offered, just before a servant dressed in black approached them.
The Doctor threw up a hand in greeting. “Good afternoon.”
The servant bowed slightly. “Drinks, sir? Ma’ams?”
“Sidecar, please,” Donna said, while Rose requested a hanky panky.
“And a lime and soda for Jenny and myself,” the Doctor added. So far, Jenny had been unimpressed by every cocktail she’d tried, and he doubted she could get ale or cider in the middle of an English garden party. The footman nodded and walked away.
The Doctor pointed to the tables that had been set up in the shade of ancient trees. He was about to suggest they sit down, but another voice interrupted him.
“May I announce, Lady Clemency Eddison.”
The Doctor turned around when he heard Greeves’ voice and watched the butler cross the lawn, followed by a petite woman about sixty years old. He put on his most charming smile, then held his hands out and said, “Lady Eddison.”
The woman took his hand, but her narrowed eyes and thin lips suggested his effusive greeting hadn’t fooled her. “Forgive me, but who exactly might you be, and what are you doing here?”
“I’m the Doctor,” he said, with just a hint of affront that she could have forgotten. He pointed at the women as he named them. “My wife Rose Tyler, our daughter Jenny, and our dear friend Miss Donna Noble, of the Chiswick Nobles.”
Lady Eddison’s narrowed gaze landed on Rose and Jenny, and the Doctor knew what she was going to say before she opened her mouth. “You can’t possibly be old enough to be this young woman’s mother, Mrs. Tyler.”
Rose smiled. “Trust me, my lady, I’m older than I look. My physician makes a special tonic that I’ve taken every day since I met him.”
The Doctor coughed to hide his amusement at her clever word play. Then he held up the psychic paper to eliminate any further questions. “We were thrilled to receive your invitation, my lady. We met at the Ambassador’s reception,” he added, only stumbling slightly over the quickly concocted meeting.
The lines around Lady Eddison’s mouth eased. “Doctor, how could I forget you?” She moved towards a servant and took a drink from the tray he was holding. “But one must be sure with the Unicorn on the loose.”
“A unicorn?” the Doctor mused. “Brilliant. Where?”
“The Unicorn, love,” Rose corrected. “Which sounds like the name of a highwayman in a Regency romance.”
“He’s a jewel thief, actually,” Lady Eddison said. “Nobody knows who he is. He’s just struck again—snatched Lady Babbington’s pearls right from under her nose.”
She drifted away from them when a younger footman appeared with their prepared drinks. “Thank you,” Rose said as they each took the glass meant for them.
After he bowed and walked off with his empty tray, Jenny turned to them. “A jewel thief? Is that why we’re here, Dad?”
The Doctor considered as he took a sip of his water. “Possibly,” he allowed. “Though if we are, whatever they’re going to steal must be important.”
“May I announce Colonel Hugh Curbishley, the Honourable Roger Curbishley.”
At Greeves’ announcement, they turned around to watch a young man push an older gentleman in a wheelchair onto the lawn. Lady Eddison smiled at both of them. “My husband, and my son.”
“Forgive me for not rising,” the colonel said, patting his legs. “Never been the same ever since that flu epidemic back in eighteen.”
“My word,” Roger said to Donna, “you are a super lady.”
Donna curtsied slightly, a bright smile on her face. “Oh, I like the cut of your jib.” She raised her glass. “Chin, chin.”
The slang made the Doctor cringe, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, so he let it go… for now.
He offered his hand to Roger. “Hello. I’m the Doctor. My wife Rose and our daughter Jenny, and our friend Donna Noble.”
Roger stepped back and nodded at all of them. “How do you do?”
“Very well,” the Doctor replied.
The same servant who’d made their drinks appeared at Roger’s elbow. “Your usual, sir?”
“Ah.” Roger took a sip of the drink and smiled at the footman. “Thank you, Davenport. Just how I like it.”
Jenny shifted closer to him, and he looked down at his daughter. “I thought families were supposed to have the same surname,” she whispered. “But this family doesn’t.”
“I was about to ask the same thing,” Donna agreed.
The Doctor nodded at Lady Eddison, who was fussing over her invalid husband. “The Eddison title descends through her.” He gestured towards the son. “One day Roger will be a lord.”
Greeves appeared at the edge of the lawn again, this time with a fashionably dressed young woman just behind him. “Robina Redmond.”
Lady Eddison’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the guests already gathered. “She’s the absolute hit of the social scene,” she explained as the young woman sashayed out onto the lawn. “A must. Miss Redmond.”
The young woman smiled and shook the hand her ladyship offered. “Spiffing to meet you at last, my lady.” Her smiled slipped when she glanced around at the rest of the party. “What super fun,” she whispered, softly enough that the Doctor doubted anyone else heard.
She’s trying too hard, Doctor.
He nodded, but Greeves announced the next guest before he could say anything about Miss Redmond’s fake pedigree.
“Reverend Arnold Golightly.”
The vicar they’d seen earlier joined them, and Lady Eddison held her hand out for him to take. “Ah, Reverend. How are you? I heard about the church last Thursday night. Those ruffians breaking in.”
“You apprehended them, I hear,” Colonel Curbishley added.
The vicar nodded. “As the Christian Fathers taught me, we must forgive them their trespasses.” A smirk settled on the reverend’s face that didn’t match his words or his profession. “Quite literally.”
“Some of these young boys deserve a decent thrashing,” Roger declared.
Davenport appeared at his side again, simpering up at him. “Couldn’t agree more, sir.”
Ah. That’s what was off about the way he tried to flirt with Donna a moment ago, Rose said. It was just an act, so no one would notice he’s gay.
Donna had apparently had the same thought. She snorted and shook her head. “Typical. All the decent men are on the other bus.” She smirked at the Doctor. “You don’t count—you’re married.”
“Quite happily,” the Doctor agreed.
“Now, my lady,” Roger said to his mother. “What about this special guest you promised us?”
Lady Eddison pointed towards the house. “Here she is. A lady who needs no introduction.”
A tall, blonde woman in her thirties strode across the lawn to the accompaniment of applause, no matter that she tried to hold her hands out to keep them from applauding.
“No, no, please, don’t,” she said. “Thank you, Lady Eddison. Honestly, there’s no need.” She turned to the Doctor and held her hand out. “Agatha Christie.”
“What about her?” Donna asked before anyone else could say anything.
Agatha blinked; that clearly wasn’t the response she’d been expecting. “That’s me.”
“No!” Donna gasped. “You’re kidding.”
The Doctor walked over to her and took her hand, a giddy smile on his face. “Agatha Christie,” he gushed, shaking her hand energetically. “I was just talking about you the other day. I said, ‘I bet she’s brilliant.’ I’m the Doctor. This is Rose, Jenny, and Donna. Oh, I love your stuff. What a mind. You fool me every time,” he said, before he realised it wasn’t exactly the truth. “Well, almost every time.” He tugged on his ear. “Well, once or twice. Well, once. But it was a good once.”
Rose groaned. “Just… just trust me, Mrs. Christie. That was high praise coming from him.”
Agatha’s gaze darted back and forth between them. “You’re too accustomed to excusing your husband’s rather unusual behaviour…?”
“Rose. Rose Tyler,” Rose provided, hearing the leading question. “And I am, but I don’t mind.”
“Excuse me,” Donna interrupted. “How did you know they were married?”
Agatha looked over the Doctor’s shoulder at Donna. “Even if they weren’t wearing wedding rings, Mrs. Tyler’s comment was far too familiar to come from anyone but a wife.”
The Doctor grinned. “Oh, you are good.”
Lady Eddison had been lurking on the edge of their conversation, but she was clearly tired of waiting for her honoured guest to pay attention to her. She cut into the conversation swiftly, putting an arm on Agatha’s shoulder and turning her away from the Doctor, Rose, Jenny, and Donna. “Mrs. Christie, I’m so glad you could come. I’m one of your greatest followers. I’ve read all six of your books.” She paused and looked around, clearly expecting another person. “Ah, is, er, Mr. Christie not joining us?”
Agatha’s spine stiffened and she turned to look down at Lady Eddison. “Is he needed? Can’t a woman make her own way in the world?”
“Don’t give my wife ideas,” the colonel said, breaking the tension without even realising he’d done so.
Roger jumped in, apparently familiar with where that teasing comment would go. “Now Mrs. Christie, I have a question. Why a Belgian detective?”
Rose, Donna, and Jenny moved to mingle with the other guests, but the Doctor scooped up the paper that rested on Colonel Curbishley’s lap. “Excuse me, Colonel.” A glimmer of suspicion had entered the Doctor’s mind when Agatha showed such open hostility toward marriage, and he wanted to check his theory.
The conversation continued around him, but the Doctor stopped hearing it once he registered the date at the top of the paper. He pressed his lips into a thin line and motioned for Rose, Donna, and Jenny to join him.
The three women all gave him curious looks, then smiled at their conversation partners and casually crossed the lawn to join him.
“Is something wrong, Dad?” Jenny asked.
The Doctor couldn’t take his eyes off Agatha Christie. “The date on this newspaper,” he whispered, holding it up for them to see.
“What about it?” Donna asked.
He took a breath. “It’s the day Agatha Christie disappeared.”
Rose looked over his shoulder and frowned. “It’s a bit warm for December, isn’t it?”
The Doctor blinked. “Now that you mention it, one doesn’t usually sit outside sipping sidecars in December, no matter how mild English winters are.”
Donna rolled her eyes. “Only you would find something ominous in unseasonably good weather.”
He shook his head as he set the paper back down. “Donna, you’re wearing a summer dress in December. The lawn is green and the flowers are in bloom. There is something very not right about all of this.”
He shoved his hands into his pockets and turned in a slow circle. “The last time I witnessed global warming on this scale…”
The memory was right there, but it slipped away when he caught sight of Agatha Christie, chatting with Lady Eddison and her son, her drink in hand and a fake smile on her face. The sight diverted his attention from the weather, back to the significance of the date.
“She’d just discovered her husband was having an affair,” he murmured, speaking just loud enough for the three women to hear him.
“Oh, that’s awful,” Jenny breathed.
Donna shook her head. “You’d never think to look at her, smiling away.”
The Doctor rocked back on his heels and nodded in Agatha’s direction. “Well, she’s British and moneyed. That’s what they do. They carry on. Except for this one time. No one knows exactly what happened. She just vanished. Her car will be found tomorrow morning by the side of a lake. Ten days later, Agatha Christie turns up in a hotel in Harrogate. Said she’d lost her memory. She never spoke about the disappearance till the day she died, but whatever it was…”
“We’re here on the day that it’s going to happen,” Rose said, an irrepressible smile on her face. “Of course the TARDIS didn’t just take us someplace completely random.”
The Doctor nodded. “I’ve always wondered what happened, and now I get to find out.”
The Indian housekeeper, who had been sent to collect the remaining guest, came running back onto the lawn, waving her hand around. “Professor! The library! Murder! Murder!”
The words sent the posh guests into a tizzy, and while everyone was demanding more information of Miss Chandrakala, the Doctor turned to the butler. “Greeves, old chap, could you point me in the direction of the library?”
“It’s on the ground floor, sir. Just off the main corridor from the foyer.”
The Doctor took off running, and he heard Rose offer a hurried, “Thanks ever so much!” to the servant as they abandoned the party.
Inside, he turned in a quick circle in the middle of the foyer, then made a guess and dove for a door. He spotted bookshelves as he opened the door, and the body on the floor confirmed he’d made the right choice.
The Doctor put his glasses on as he and Rose crouched beside the dead man.
“Oh, my goodness,” Greeves moaned from the doorway.
“Bashed on the head—blunt instrument,” the Doctor announced. He tapped the watch face, but the hands didn’t move. “Watch broke as he fell. Time of death was quarter past four.” He leapt to his feet and shuffled through the papers on the desk, hoping to find something that would explain why someone would want to kill the professor.
“There’s a pipe here on the floor,” Rose said.
Donna hummed consideringly. “Call me Hercules Poirot, but I reckon that’s blunt enough.”
Movement out of the corner of his eye caught the Doctor’s attention, and he watched Agatha’s reflection in the glass curio cabinet as she bent down and plucked a piece of paper out of the fire pit.
He sighed when he reached the bottom of the stack of papers. “Nothing worth killing for in that lot. Dry as dust.”
That doesn’t make sense, Rose told him. He said he was coming to the library to look something up, so surely there’s something…
She took the papers from him and flipped through them herself while Donna and Jenny crowded around him. “So maybe we’re not here for the jewel thief after all,” Jenny suggested.
The Doctor pressed his tongue to the back of his teeth. “So it would seem, Jenny.”
“Hold on,” Donna murmured. “The Body in the Library?”
He immediately recognised the words as the title of an Agatha Christie novel, but he had a feeling that wasn’t Donna’s point.
She shook her head, but there was an excited gleam in her eyes. “I mean, Professor Peach, in the library, with the lead piping?”
“That’s like that game we played the other night, Dad. Cluedo?”
The remaining guests and their hosts crowded into the small room before the Doctor could answer either woman’s question. Lady Eddison was beside herself, and the entire party exclaimed, in restrained terms, over how horrible the death was.
Agatha remained a voice of reason. “Someone should call the police.”
The Doctor shook his head. If the TARDIS had dropped them here on purpose, there was a good chance the situation was more than a human policeman could handle. He showed the psychic paper again, focusing primarily on Agatha Christie. “You don’t have to. Chief Inspector Tyler from Scotland Yard, known as the Doctor. My family and I are on holiday, but it appears death doesn’t take a holiday.”
Rose snorted softly, and he winked at her.
“I say,” Lady Eddison moaned, clutching her necklaces.
The Doctor met her questioning gaze with a steady one of his own. “Mrs. Christie was right. Go into the sitting room. I will question each of you in turn.”
“Come along,” Agatha said, ushering everyone out of the room. “Do as the Doctor says. Leave the room undisturbed.”
As soon as they had the room to themselves again, the Doctor got down on the floor in front of the body, while Rose bent down and patted at the professor’s pockets. There had to be something they were missing…
“When we said we were going to a party, I wasn’t expecting we’d find a dead body,” Jenny said. “I mean… the other adventures we’ve had, we’ve been thrown right in from the start.”
Rose chuckled. “It’s like that sometimes, Jenny,” she told her. “We go to a party, thinking we’re just going to have a bit of fun, and then something happens.”
“Although this is the first time the adventure has been anything as mundane as a murder mystery,” Donna added.
The Doctor spotted a drop of slime on the floor. “Maybe not so mundane,” he said, scraping some of it up. He jumped up and showed it to the three of them. “Morphic residue.”
Rose frowned. “The stuff shape-shifting aliens leave behind when they change form?”
He held it up to the light. “Exactly.”
“The murderer’s an alien?” Jenny’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
The Doctor nodded. “Which means one of that lot is an alien in human form.”
“Yeah, but think about it.” Donna put her hand on his shoulder. “There’s a murder, a mystery, and Agatha Christie.”
“So? Happens to me all the time.” He sniffed the residue and then stuck it under Rose’s nose.
“Smells like burnt toast,” she offered.
“Which means our murderer is an insectoid… though that doesn’t narrow it down much.”
“Like I was saying,” Donna said, her blue eyes narrowed in determination as she pressed her point. “Agatha Christie didn’t walk around surrounded by murders. Not really. I mean, that’s like meeting Charles Dickens and he’s surrounded by ghosts at Christmas.”
“We’ve done that actually,” Rose said. “And Shakespeare and witches.”
“Oh, come on!” Donna rolled her eyes. “And I suppose now you’re going to tell me we could drive across country and find Enid Blyton having tea with Noddy.”
Rose kept a straight face, and Donna’s jaw dropped.
“Noddy’s not real. Is he? Tell me there’s no Noddy.”
The Doctor bent down to look her in the eyes. “There’s no Noddy,” he said firmly, then jogged out of the room.
Rose shrugged at the disappointed woman. “Sorry, Donna, but they can’t all be real.”
Donna sighed. “I suppose.”
“Who’s Noddy?” Jenny asked.
Rose and Donna laughed. “He’s a character in a series of books. We’ve got them on the TARDIS—you can read them later.”
Donna grabbed them both by the hand. “Come on, let’s go after the Doctor, before he gets into alien trouble without us.”
They caught up with the Doctor at the foot of the stairs. “Next thing you know, you’ll be telling me it’s like Murder on the Orient Express, and they all did it,” Donna said.
Rose sighed and rubbed her temple when a familiar voice came from the alcove off the stairwell. “Murder on the Orient Express?” Agatha repeated as she joined them.
Rose grabbed Donna’s hand and squeezed hard, and for once, the ginger took the hint and kept her mouth shut.
Agatha tapped her chin. “That’s a marvellous idea.” She shook her head. “I have a feeling this day will give me more book plots than I have time to write,” she said ruefully.
The Doctor stepped forward and rubbed his hands together. “Agatha, Rose, and I will question the suspects. Donna, you and Jenny search the bedrooms. Look for clues. Any more residue,” he added in a whisper as he pulled a large magnifying glass out of his jacket pocket. “You’ll need this.”
Donna’s lips curled in a sneer as she looked at the traditional detective’s tool. “Is that for real?”
Jenny grabbed the magnifying glass out of the Doctor’s hand and danced up a few steps. “Come on, Donna,” she said. “I’ve never gotten to help Dad on one of his investigations before.”
Donna sighed, but she didn’t protest any further. With one last look at the Doctor and Rose, she turned and followed Jenny up the stairs.
Once she was gone, the Doctor beamed at Agatha and bounced lightly on his toes. “Right then. Solving a murder mystery with Agatha Christie. Brilliant.”
“How like a man to have fun while there’s disaster all around him,” Agatha snapped.
The Doctor took a half-step back from her, then stopped and straightened. “That’s not what I meant,” he said calmly. “I’ve been a fan of yours for”—He caught himself before he could say how long—“since you published your first novel,” he amended. “Of course I’m excited I get to work with you on a case.” He sighed and put his hands in his pockets. “I suppose I did sound a bit flippant. Sorry about that.”
Agatha stared at him, an inscrutable expression on her face. Finally, she sighed and shook her head. “I’m afraid, Doctor, that you are going to be disappointed,” she said, her voice weary. “I’m merely an author, not a detective.” Before he could argue, she walked past him and stood in the library door. “Our first suspect will be joining us any minute. We should get ready.”

so i wrote up a review/rambling about persona 5
you can either read it [here on twitlonger] or you can read it placed underneath the read more cause its super long and i dont want to make your dashboards gigantic
Persona 5: My Thoughts since it has been consuming my soul for the past few weeks, I thought it was about time I wrote up my thoughts proper on Persona 5 and not just some weird half sentence that I garbled at the bottom of the ocean. i'm not really formatting this much it's gonna be a lot of rambling and a bit scattershot but please bear with me. lets do this in categories and then an overall, shall we GAMEPLAY, THE BATTLE PART: How You Gonna Shoot With A Toy Gun the gameplay of Persona 5 is, well, incredible. it takes the one more system used since Persona 3 and refines it to an absurd degree. while the weaknesses of shadows still kind of don't make sense at all and the guessing game aspect of battles remains, everything else has been improved. battles are really, really fast and super satisfying. attacks look good and snappy, and nothing feels like it's dragging too long. but what Persona 5 adds to this mix that really puts it over the edge is demon negotiation. not only does it bring some of the most interesting aspects from Shin Megami Tensei proper into Persona (using your enemies as your new strength), it also gives a lot more value and strategy to knocking dudes down. in P3 and P4 your party members would ask "hey we gonna all out attack fam" and there was never really a time you would say no because, why? but in P5, a full knockdown results in a holdup, where you can extract money, items, or the demon itself as a persona out of the mix, as well as being able to just do an all out attack. this is F A N T A S T I C. it enhances a lot of aspects of the battle system, and really makes hitting weaknesses and figuring out what to do more satisfying. and as the icing on the cake, P5 added the baton pass system to battles, making them even more fluid and satisfying. in short, it lets one character, after hitting a weakness, pass their extra turn to another character, while boosting their stats for that attack. it allows for a lot more strategy and creativity, where your whole team can contribute. some of the most fun I've had with turn based battles. GAMEPLAY, THE RUNNING PART: I Gotta Have Me A Good Steal one of the more lackluster portions of Persona games was wandering around in dungeons, whether it be a giant tower to the moon or some bathhouse. outside of visual elements, they all bled together. floors were randomly generated to some extent, and you just wandered around, grabbing some items and fighting shadows that randomly spawn. it was serviceable, but nothing spectacular. P5 takes this and cranks everything up to 11 million. proper dungeons are now actually designed experiences, with shadows and layouts specifically made for each dungeon. every dungeon has its own mechanics and style that plays up the unique aspects of the person whose heart you're traipsing around on. but the biggest change is the way your character moves. with a full stealth system that's a blast to use, jumping from hiding spot to hiding spot, a lot of P5's dungeons are somewhat stealth oriented. being seen by shadows raises security and makes things harder, and if you're seen too much you gotta bail. but through ambushing enemies, you can undo the security raises of your mistakes, while also getting the huge advantages of an ambush. as well, being able to climb around the environment, jumping up walls and flipping around just feels and looks great. god damn. and just in case you really miss those randomized dungeons, don't worry! there's a fun and not too long randomized dungeon a la tartarus/midnight channel in the game too! GAMEPLAY, EVERYWHERE ELSE: I Can't Believe This Is Three Parts. Jeez here's where persona 5 doesn't make astronomical leaps and bounds forwards, but just some nice improvements. outside of dungeons/battle P5 follows the Persona formula. everything's on a timetable, and you can do one (1) thing in the day and one (1) thing in the evening, except if you A: are in a story event where for some reason your free time goes missing B: go to a dungeon and can't hire your teacher to give you a massage C: your cat says you're sleepy the overworld of P5 and the various locales in it are pretty interesting and fun to walk around in, but there's a lot of areas that exist solely for hanging out with confidants. if you just play properly though you really don't get much to any use out of them, and that's kind of disappointing for me. I wanted to visit more zones but what we have is very memorable. what P5 adds to the formula is the various boons granted by confidants, most notably Temperance (which you should really max ASAP that's a pro-tip) that will change certain things in daily life and in dungeons, but we'll get to that part later. from giving you access to more jobs, to allowing you more free time in class, to unlocking more fortune telling options, there's a lot of stuff to do. P5 also has a small selection of minigames to pass the time, from B A S E B A L L to F I S H I N G to C R O S S W O R D S and more. what's nifty is each minigame also can serve a practical purpose and raise social stats but we'll get there. the map showing you if confidants will rank up or not is nice, and fast travel is very generous in this game. not much else to say here. I don't get lost so that's nice SOCIALIZING: Who Taught You ___, Nasty Crime Boy ah.... confidants. aka social links, they're the meat of the non-dungeon crawling experience of P5. like in previous games, most major story characters that aren't complete scum or trying to kill you will have confidants, with ranks 1-10. this is where the visual novel/dating sim components show up, and there's not a ton to say here so i'll keep my rambling down to a minimum. each confidant has their own little side story that you partake in when they're free, where you read and then give answers when prompted. it can go as menial as "hey wanna go eat ramen" to "please come with me to help me save a little girl's life." based on your answers, you get points towards the next link. this game does something nifty where when you get points (1-3 notes) there will be a little additional uh, graphic and sound that plays that's kinda subtle but tells you that you have enough points to immediately rank them up again. that's a really good addition. you can romance people too, and you can romance EVERY girl in the game. who cares how much older than you they are just do it loser (don't actually) but here's where confidants change a lot in p5 from past things. in P3 they kinda were just to fuse hot personas, while in P4 they were mainly for that but also unlocked some abilities, but not a ton. mainly party members. in P5, every confidant gives several abilities that will greatly enhance your experience with the game and make your character grow a lot stronger. from giving party members the ability to endure blows and baton pass, as well as recover from ailments, to the even more absurd non party member abilities. some confidants let you swap party members in battle, allow you to breeze through negotiation, get double money, reduce security levels, buy and modify weapons, get free time in class, read fortunes and get bonuses based on that, and so on. this makes (nearly) every confidant not just useful on a "hey man i wanna fuse a good persona" level, it makes them invaluable to your characters growth. it makes the visual novel part much more important, and more enjoyable. plus they're (nearly) all fantastic little stories that flesh out each character and the world around you. lastly and real fast, most confidants will give you a mission to go complete in the other dungeon, mementos, in order to help them through their struggles and advance their story. these minibosses give out a lot of good money, items, and exp, as well as being a fun part of the story and something else to do in mementos. it's neat. oh yeah and confidants are now no longer on such a rigorous schedule like previous games, and a lot more accessible and free flowing. its nice SOCIAL STATS: Eating A Burger Made Me The Perfect Man i'm devoting a whole section to this. buckle up kids. P5 has 5 social stats, knowledge, guts, proficiency, kindness, and charm. each of them has 5 levels of progression. (you start at 1). some stats, like proficiency, give tangible boosts. however, almost all social stats are progressed solely for the sake of starting and advancing confidants. you need X level knowledge to start Y confidant, you need X level proficency to advance Y confidant at rank Z, and so on. raising social stats is accomplished through various overworld activities and whatever, and take up time. however, in order to max all confidants, and most of them honestly, you're going to need rank 5 in every social stat. sure, fine, its a conscious design decision. here are my complaints, notarized 1: first time through, it's not communicated well what activity boosts what, but more importantly how MUCH each activity boosts a stat. 2: while you can check what stage each social stat is at, there is no way to tell how much you've progressed to the next rank. just pour it in and pray. 3: some stats (KINDNESS) are very difficult to raise optimally as they may require rng events to give you the full 3 note boost as opposed to 2 notes. 4: some confidants give you social stats which WOULD be good but they only give you them on rank up. outta here w/that without prior knowledge, your first month or two of P5 is gonna be filled with poor scheduling decisions because how could you know that X activity is actually terrible for raising the stat you want? and since it takes up time (usually an evening slot), it really hurts your confidants overall. with good decisions and scheduling, you can actually max confidant (minus autos that will just progress through plot) with nearly a month to spare, but that waste and sufffering of the start may make you miss out on several confidants. it's a good idea, but still needs work and feels really cheap sometimes. (WHY DO I NEED 5 PROFICIENCY TO HELP A GIRL GARDEN WHAT THE FU) PLOT: Ya'll Wanna Read Some Anime this will be much lighter than the rest because I don't wanna spoil the plot so here's very broad strokes. the plot of Persona 5, overall, is very compelling and enjoyable. it's not perfect by any means, and has its dips in quality (anyone want a burger), but I enjoyed pretty much the whole thing. we'll get into characters separately BUT i found the narrative to be much more engaging than Persona 4 and as compelling as Persona 3. it's much darker than P4, but still maintains moments of levity and fun, even when dealing with serious issues. its take on rebellion, the subconscious, and shadows are all very enjoyable. it does suffer from a few frankly stupid conflicts between party members to build ~drama,~ but 99% of the time interactions between the characters and the world around them are wonderful. a real sense of camaraderie and friendship between the cast is evident and helps shape the narrative. it does suffer from a bit of "wow some of these kids are stupid/lack common sense" but its nowhere to the severity of Persona 4's "gee who is that on the tv gotta wait a week to find out" style stupidity to keep the plot rolling and not solve things instantly, but it will occasionally hit that type of thing. but that's a nitpick as it happens infrequently. to try and not spoil anything, the ending arc does suffer from a bit of P4 syndrome too wherein the last and true conflict kind of comes out of nowhere, but less so this time. it's still something I'll say is a minor problem, but the actual writing and gameplay/moments of the final arc ultimately redeem that. on replay you can see SOME hints but it's not built up enough In My Onion. hope i didnt spoil anything lets move on CHARACTERS: I Was Gonna Type Waifu Wars And Then Jesus Wept again, I will attempt to dance around spoilers here. I feel like the characters of P5, with how much emphasis is placed upon your bonds with them and the existence of the confidant system, deserve their own little writeup. with two exceptions I love every single major character/confidant in the game. one of them has their character arc go up in flames for a bit to stir up ~drama~ but ultimately regains its footing by the end, while the other just sucks. some confidants may be a bit slow to start (DEVIL) but by the end of each confidant i was very attached to each character, and was utterly charmed by them. the main cast are all extremely charming with full-ish character arcs approaching p3 level. in fact, one of my favorite smaller details in the game is the small conversations characters have while driving around in mementos. the writing and character banter is well written and charming, with characters all having their own distinct personality and vibe. this helps the school life portions of the game a LOT, as now school trips and various other events where in other games I cursed them for stealing my free time (mainly p4 but p3 has a few), they're snappy and fun. there's some anime thrown in there so if you can't stand a bit of melodrama and long winded rambling, then some things might not land as much for you as they did for me, but I feel that P5's characters have something for everyone. no matter who you are, you're going to love at least ONE of the many confidants available. ART/SOUND: I Have Listened To Whims Of Fate Over 100 Times And Don't Plan To Stop I'm no art critic and I'm not gonna pretend to be one so I'll keep this short. the art design in P5 is some of the best, if not the best I've ever seen, at least for my tastes. every little aspect of this game is incredibly stylized, from the more dramatic like all out attack finishers, to even the simple things like menus. everything is positively BURSTING with style and personality, all while functioning as a slick and fun interface. and I mean everything. even the text boxes. if you haven't played it, just look up the all out attack compilation. or look at screenshots of the menus. it's really hard to put into words just how happy it makes me. the color scheme of red, black, and white also reminds me a lot of persona 2 and i love you p2 please remake p2 as one complete game package atlus finally, the music. every single persona game (and nearly every megaten game) has a fantastic soundtrack, and this one is no exception. honestly? just go listen to it and see for yourself. the vibe/aesthetic they chose for P5 is one that I don't really have the ability to describe for I am an uncultured fool who plays games all the time, but it is SO good. while I still prefer the P3 soundtrack mainly due to bias, the p5 soundtrack is one of the most solid overall soundtracks in any game. to add to this, the sound DESIGN of p5 is also phenomenal. music changing with the weather, small details of adding instrumentation to a song over time and progression, and the use of leitmotif all really sell the game. the vocals still have a bit of "yeah thats a non native speaker singing english" but the songs are so good and the singing is so good anyways that it doesn't really matter. because its fun here's my p5 song ranking 1: whims of fate 2: with the stars and us 3: nothingness...? 4: days when my mother was there 5: life goes on/rivers in the desert 6: theyre all so good help OVERALL: I Am Erect in summation, this game is really, really, REALLY good. i'll wait for the dust to settle in my soul to rank it properly, but this is easily one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had in a video game. the best Persona game easily, and possibly the best SMT/Megaten game as well. this may sound like hyperbole but this game is genuinely everything I've wanted out of an RPG. atlus is really knocking it out of the park lately with SMT4: Apocalypse being one of the best RPGs ever made and now this. i cannot recommend it enough. even if you usually don't enjoy turn based RPGs I still recommend giving it a try. I usually hate visual novels, and I enjoyed every second of my tons of reading. just be warned, this is a longass game. my first playthrough took around 70 hours, and I generally get through games faster than most. ng+ is fun too to send this ridiculously long thing off, I will now proceed to list my top 10 characters of P5 because I love lists. 0-BIAS: Takemi 1: Futaba 2: Sae 3: Sojiro 4: Makoto 5: Yusuke 6: Iwai 7: Chihaya 8: Morgana 9: Hifumi 10: Kawakami GORO AKECHI: Goro Akechi THE WORST ONE: Shinya tl;dr: Persona 5 is one of the greatest games ever made and it made me feel alive thanks for reading everyone, and as a sinful man once said; "Please don't troll me online."

My First Love
Well, I thought it was love. Even to this day I believe that we could be something, but honestly that’s just my wildest dreams. His name is Christian. We were the absolute best of friends roughly since 6th grade. Christian was your typical cool kid guy, all the girls had a crush on him and all the girls wanted to date him. He was CHRISTIAN. Whatever that meant. Anyway, pretty much all of 6th grade we had every class together. Mrs. Bright’s class for math, Mrs. Ruckers class for history- now here is where we split, we both had Mrs. Padilla for English but Christian had her 5th period and I had her 4th, then we had Coach Keefe for P.E. and Mrs. McNeal for Science. We usually sat near each other most of the time but he had his friends and I had mine. Mind you I’m a chubby little girl who never would have imagined a guy like Christian would even be remotely into me, so the fact that we would talk and hang out as much as we did was a complete shock to me. I can’t exactly remember how we became friends but it come back to me. One thing I will never forget though is the last day of 6th grade. I was hanging out in Mrs. Bright’s class, I was sitting next to my middle school friend Brandon, and out of nowhere Christian just kisses me on the cheek. I was confused. I didn’t know what to think. Was it just a dare? I mean he did it kinda fast. So as the person that I am, I didn’t think much of it and I went on. He did write me the sweetest thing in my year book that year though. I won’t forget to [INSERT HERE]!!!
When me and Christian really became good friends had to be out 7th grade year. I remember he would come over every single day after school and we would just hang out all evening. Playing around with my Wii, making stupid videos online, doing dumb challenges like the “Salt & Ice Challenge” or the “Cinnamon Challenge” I really do not know who even allowed that to happen because those were actually dangerous and could really hurt someone. We would make random videos of us singing or dancing together. We would just hang out after school and just have the absolute most fun time.
I remember this one day we were hanging out in the house and I was kinda getting ready for bed. I was brushing my teeth and he mentioned something in the tone of “this is how it would be if we were married” and I remember when he said that it made my heart start beating so fast but as a young dumb insecure kid, I didn’t think much of it and went on with the “joke.”
Mind you, Christian was my biggest crush and my best friend. I didn’t want to lose him from my life though so I kept these feelings to myself and never made any kind of move towards him. For anyone asking “WHY NOT!?!?” Well, give the story some time, you’ll understand me a little better after.
There was this one day where Christian, another friend Anastacio, and I were hanging out in my room. I decided to go to the kitchen to grab some pudding and as I’m coming back and open the bedroom door, they start attacking me with pillows. So out of reflex, I ended up throwing my spoon at Christians face and it hit him under the eye. Oh my, I felt so bad. I really didn’t think that the spoon was going to hit him in the eye, but it was not my fault. I was laughing hysterically while trying to apologize but Christian was so upset he started oicking up all his things and he walked outside, across the street and hung out on the corner for like a good hour or so. When he finally came back in, I fed him some food and we were all on good terms after. The next day when we went back to school he was going to say that he got into a fight but then he ended up just telling everyone that I threw a spoon at his face. Surprisingly, a lot of people came up to me saying that it was a good thing that I did that. Not that it felt like a good thing but I mean, to each their own.
So fast forward to 8th grade. All of a sudden Christian got a little to cool for me. This was the “steezer” phase of the 2000′s and that really wasn’t my style. I called him out on it though and we continued on as friends.
I have yet to mention that Christian is a bit of a womanizer. Like I said, he was Christian and Christian got the girls. I swear it was like every other month he had a new girlfriend and not like these girls were ugly either. He got thr really pretty girls. The girls that I always wished I looked like. Small, petite, cute face, you know, those girls.
Let us skip ahead a bit now. We are entering high school. Me and Christian really went our separate ways there. I went to Helix and he actually went to our “rival” school Mount Miguel. I know right, how much more cliche can this story be. Anyway, we still somehow managed to hang out on consistently but it wasn’t the same. I would still help him with his homework as often as I could but apparently they teach things differently in every school.
So there is this specific memory I had with Christian. It was the summer after freshman year, going into sophomore year. Christians mom was going to be going to Vegas for the weekend. Me and Christian BEGGED our moms to let us have a sleep over at my house. Luckily our moms were cool as fuck and actually let us have the sleep over. It was going to be the coolest weekend evverrr!! Unfortunately, Christian last minute bailed the first night he was going to sleep over to have his own sleep over with his cousin and his friend Alex but whatever. The next day, my mom and I pick up Christian from his house and we end up going to Rosarito for the day. All day me and Christian were just hanging out, eating good food and chillen. At one point my mom and her uncle have to go pay some property bill in some government office, so me and Christian just wait for them to come back in the car. I can’t exactly remember the build up to the conversation, but somehow we got to talking about sex. We are talking about things we would and wouldn’t do with the person that we would be with. Now, ladies and gentlemen, remember at this moment in time I was an insecure young chubby lady. Somehow, someway, Christian. THE CHRISTIAN, asked me, something along the lines of “well would you want to do it... with me?
AND MY DUMB INSECURE TEENAGE ASS SAID,
“Well it’s just cause I’m only 14 and I don’t really want to be able to say that I lost my virginity at 14 years old.”
I mean in hindsight I am actually very smart and logical, but looking back at it. Like if i were who I was today at 14 years old, I would definitely be doing the dirty with him, shit at least some first base stuff, but that’s not the case. Plus I genuinely was not ready for sex. I was a baby, I didn’t know what I would have gotten myself into. Sex is a big deal and especially at that age. I’m 20 years old right now and sex is still a big deal.
Anyway, throughout the years Christian did give me signs that he was into me, but I am telling you. I am thee most oblivious person when it comes to flirting and all that shit. I honestly won’t know that you like me until either 1. You tell me or 2. It’s too late for me to realize that you likED me and now its too late for me to do anything about it because you have moved on.
For example, I don’t remember if it was for my birthday or something like that, but he wrote me a letter. It basically said how much he loved me and how much I meant to him (as a friend) and how he wants me in his life forever. But there was this little part of the letter that was kind of like a poem and in that poem vertically and the way that he had had set up, it spelled out “I LOVE YOU” Know being the kind of person that I am, I didn’t think anything of it and moved on. I promise you you guys I really didn’t think anything of it. Oh but do I wish I did. I wish I could have realized what he was trying to tell me, because I promise you, we would have the love of a life time. I loved that boy with all my heart, you guys had no idea.
I watched him date other girls and kiss other girls and love other girls because I thought that was what was making him happy. I thought that he wanted those girls and that he wanted them because it what made him smile. I watched him buy other females things that I would want him to buy me. I watched him kiss other girls the way I wanted him to kiss me. I watched him hold other girls the way I wanted him to hold me. Being his best friend was the absolute hardest thing for me. So this one night I just couldn’t take it anymore. I started writing him a message on Facebook about how much he meant to me and how I have feelings for him and that I am sorry if this messes up our friendship but I just couldn’t do it anymore. When I tell you guys that I was crying my eyes out while I was writing this message, I was CRYIN. MY. EYES. OUT. Then my mom just so happens to walk into my room. She sees that I’m crying and asks why, I tell her and she looks at me like she wants to cry. I just tell her how much I care for him and how much I love him but how I don’t want these feelings to get in the way. She advises me not to send the message because if what I send what I wrote, it could completely mess up or friendship and I would lose him. So I deleted it and kept those feelings to myself. To this day Christian still does not know how i truly feel for him. I will tell him one day though.
I remember when Christian was my main Chambelan for my quincenera and that’s a pretty big deal. He was the main guy that I was dancing with on one of the biggest days in my teenage life and I am so glad it was him. I remember that day I was dressed up in my big ol’ blue dress and he was dressed up in his all white tuxedo, looking all types of nice. BUT he went and forgot to get his stupid hair cut, so he was walking around the party with his big ass head looking like Pauly D oh my *slaps forehead* but honestly that boy could shave his head bald and I would still think he is the finest man on the earth. Anyway, I remember we were sitting next to each other at the table of honor and he mentioned how it felt like it was our wedding day. In my heart I wish it would have been, because that would mean that I were to have had the privilege to marry my best friend that day.
Now here is my least favorite part of the story.
I think it was a little bit into our sophomore year of high school where he met this ugly ass girl. She had the biggest freakin nose, the droopiest eyes, the ugliest smile, and the worst personality I have ever encountered. I won’t mention her name because just the sound of it make me want to vomit. Anyway, for some reason, that I couldn’t tell Christian was just into her. Even though the boy cheated on her in front of me and personally admitted to me that he cheated on her with another female (a couple years into their relationship I might add), they have now been together for the past 4 years. I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to hold him down for what is his longest relationship.
You may be thinking “omg, you’re a bitch, why are you talking mad shit on her” well my fellow readers, she’s a bitch. A couple of weeks into their situationship, she asked Christian “why are you friends with her ?” as if there was something wrong with me. As if I couldn’t fall more in love with this boy, he replied “well she has been my best friend for years and that isn’t going to change. She is a part of my life” or something along those lines. I tried, I really tried, I tried to get along with her but it was like she was immune to smiling or making a fucking friend. This was Christian’s 18th birthday, I believe, I offered to drive us around to look for a present for Christian. We went out to a couple of stores and I decided to buy Christian a WiFi router because the boy needed freakin WiFi at his house but I guess his girl didn’t have enough money or something like that to get him something that he would want. So being the person that I am, I paid for the difference for some speaker that she picked out. To top it off, she was still being a bitch to me after all that. Shit, I want my money back.
So slowly but surely, me and Christian drifted apart. She was taking up his time more and more but there were times where I just wasn’t convinced that he really loved her. For example, this one day I hit up Christian asking him of he’d want to hang out and he was down. So I pick him up and we hang out, get some food or whatever we did, and he mentions that his girl is upset with him. As his bestie of course I ask him “why?” and he goes “well it’s our 1 year anniversary and I’m here.”
I WAS SHOOK
I was genuinely pissed off for her. I would be so mad if my boyfriend of a year wasn’t with me to celebrate our one year anniversary. ESPECIALLY, when it’s the first time he has ever gotten this far with anyone. I told him to go to his girlfriend and he declined claiming he wants to hang out with me. As his friend I didn’t let that slide. I made sure he knew shit like that is important. He hasn’t missed an anniversary since.
Slowly but surely, our friendship deteriorated. He got busy with school and his girlfriend, I got busy with school and my friends. We just kind of drifted. Seeing each other went from a daily thing, to weekly, to monthly. Now I am even lucky if he answers my phone calls. We still talk here and there. He is still with that awful woman. You know, one time he told me that she chased him around her house with a knife. I don’t exactly remember for what, but she did. Crazy bitch. He didn’t deserve that. I mean I’m no angel either, I chucked a spoon at him, but it wasn’t a damn knife.
Honestly though, he doesn’t really deserve me. You know, he would flirt with girls right in front of me. He would talk about cheating on his girlfriends to me. All that ever made me think was “what makes me think that I am so special that he wouldn’t do that to me?” I mean wasn’t the prettiest girl in school. Shit I wasn’t even on the pretty girl radar. I was really more of the “who wouldn’t you fuck” part of the conversation. But anyway, even though we had this “connection” nothing ever made me think that I was someone worth not being cheated on. Maybe he tried to make me feel that way but if he was trying to, he did a really shitty job.
Really looking back at it though, I feel like I actually did stand a chance. I actually think that I made Christian feel something that none of these other girls made him feel. Non-sexually at that. If I were to have known what I know now, things would have went a totally different direction.
I am going to tell you guys a secret though, I still feel like our story isn’t over. Something in the back of my mind still feels like something can happen between Christian and I. Whether it be sex, love, a kiss, whatever. I feel like our story isn’t quite over yet.
