yeah Steve’s adjusted well after S2 and S3, he’s totally fine and not traumatized at all!

that’s why he hides his alcohol from everyone

and when he wakes up in the middle of the night, trembling from fear and soaked in cold sweat from another night terror, he reaches for the bottle under his bed and drinks until it burns his throat and the warmth in his stomach chases away the monsters living in his head

the headaches and hangovers and withdrawal shakes are easier to deal with than the tangled mess of trauma he’s lived through the past couple of years

he ignores Robin’s concerned looks and says he’s fine

he tells Billy that he’s fine and it’s just one drink (until he’s unable to keep himself standing and needs his boyfriend’s help getting to the bathroom to get sick just so he can drink more when Billy’s not looking)

the self-loathing creeps up every time he thinks about stopping, it runs across his mind whenever he picks up a bottle of beer, it’s his constant companion

he feels more like himself, before all of the shit that’s happened, and he wants to stay like that - he wants to be like before

but, he isn’t that person anymore and he can’t accept it, he won’t

he gives liquor laced kisses to his boyfriend and sprays more cologne on himself when Dustin complains about how he smells, willing to do anything but put the bottle down

he’s fine, you don’t need to wonder how he’s managed to be okay after everything, you don’t need to ask because he’s fine

as long as he keeps drinking

The manga industry, especially JUMP, needs to hurry up and do away with weekly scheduling for mangaka. There needs to better regulations put into place for their health and safety because this is pitiful. Two weeks - monthly updates should’ve already been the standard for the manga industry at this point. These money grabbers will only continue to put the lives of these artists at stake for the sake of capitalism unless some serious changes are implemented.
