The battle of Manhattan #4
A.k.a one of the saddest events in series
Drew Tanaka had to fight in a battle, even though she does not like that kind of stuff. AND she have found out that her best friend, her moral support her own sister was a traitor, and then died, which have made her not only a cabin consuleor, but also have made her a bit mean, selfish and bossy. She have hated who she have become, and tried to blame that on Silena and hate her for it but she couldn't do it honestly because she loved her wayyyy too much

Considerations and Steps
A/N: Do I express my feelings through Nico? Almost always. Am I Nico di Angelo? Yet to be seen.
Read on AO3 or FF.Net or Wattpad
“I think I made a bad decision.”
“Nico, you’re being unreasonable.”
“Hazel, this is literally me being the most reasonable being, ever.”
Nico was currently pacing the Hades cabin as Hazel sat cross-legged on her bed. He had just realized he had feelings for Will and was freaking out, just a little.
“Nico, literally nothing has even happened yet. You haven’t done anything except nervously pace for the past hour.” Hazel rolled her eyes at her brother, feeling her patience wear thin.
“Yeah, but like, I like him.” He stopped and turned towards his sister, eyes wide. “I like Will. Will Solace!” Nico threw his hands up in the air and resumed his pacing.
“Yes,” Hazel drew out, “We established that. An hour ago.”
“Sooo, what I’m saying is that I made the decision to like him. I somehow thought that was okay. And now that I’ve admitted it, and told someone,” he vaguely gestured in her direction, “I can’t take it back. That, right there, is the bad decision. What I should have done was keep it out of my mind and proceeded about life like normal, because now I can’t.” Nico’s hands were now bunched up in his hair, and Hazel was worried he was on the verge of ripping it all out.
“Nico,” she said sternly, causing Nico to look at her as she meaningfully patted the empty space beside her. “Sit down and listen before you either go bald or full white.”
Nico stalked over and plopped down beside his sister, all slumped and pitiful-like. Hazel had to stifle a laugh and re-channel her legionnaire-command voice. “Have you ever considered that this is a good thing? Or that maybe you’re overreacting?” Nico frowned up at her through his bangs, but before he could respond, she forged ahead. “You like Will. Okay, that is duly noted. Next step is to ask him out? Or tell him somehow? Because you’re currently freaking out about the fact that you like him, which will really never change until you do something about it.”
Nico was glaring a hole into the floorboards of their cabin. Well, at least the rambling stopped, Hazel thought to herself.
“But—” Nevermind. “I think you’re forgetting the in-between consideration of if Will likes me back. Or even the step before that of whether or not Will even likes guys. But before that—” Hazel groaned loudly, throwing her head back, but Nico was determined to say his piece. “I think it just makes more sense for me to not do anything. I think we can just let this realization blow over and just, forget about it.” He shrugged, trying to emphasize how unimportant this was. “It’ll be fine, nothing will change, and—”
“And,” Hazel continued for him, “you can let this eat you alive every time you see Will, which is very often, mind you, until you go insane.” She raised an unconvinced eyebrow at him. “Tell me why, exactly, this is a ‘bad decision’?”
Nico squinted his eyes at her. “First off, I can control myself, Hazel. Second, it’s a bad decision for many reasons.” He stood up and began pacing again, to which Hazel promptly fell back on the bed with an even louder groan than before. “One,” he ticked off on his fingers, “Will might not like guys, so that would just be utterly embarrassing for me.” Nico cringed at the thought of seeing Will look disgustingly at him. He knows Will would be better than that, but still. He couldn’t imagine living through the humiliation of liking a hot, straight guy twice in his lifetime. “Two, if Will does like guys, he might not like me since I’m a weird, dark, creepy son of Hades, which is the literal opposite of him. He’s all sunshine and happiness and healing and wonderful and…” Nico realized he would’ve kept going if he didn’t literally snap his mouth shut. He glanced over at Hazel, who had rolled over and propped her head up on her hand, looking up at Nico with a smirk. His face heated up.
“Can I just say—”
“No,” Nico stopped Hazel before she could interrupt. “Let me finish my list, then you can say whatever.”
Hazel looked at him incredulously. “How long is this list??”
Nico ignored her question and continued. “Third, even if Will did like me, I’m sure I can’t be what he needs. I have no idea what to do in a relationship, I hate physical touch, I can barely—no, I can’t hold a conversation, and I don’t know what else because I haven’t been in a relationship, but I’m sure I can’t do it.” Nico frowned in thought. Maybe he wanted to hold Will’s hand, but in front of others? No way. But if Will wanted that, who was Nico to stand in the way? Will should get to express his feelings how he wants, and he should get all the perks of being in a relationship. Nico couldn’t promise him anything close to that.
Nico shook his head. “Fourth, even if we did date, I am 100% sure I’d ruin it.” At this, Hazel sat up, a protest on her lips, but Nico quickly kept going. “I would, it’s not like it would be his fault. If anyone would mess up, it would be me. I’m not meant for happiness like that. I have so much schist in my life, there is no way I am tainting William ‘Literal Sunshine’ Solace. He deserves to be happy and I can’t be selfish and take that away. I’ll say something wrong and it’ll hurt him, I’ll run off randomly and worry him, I’ll do something and Will will get the negative effects.” Nico had stopped pacing at this point, staring dejectedly down at his feet. He knew all of this in his head, but saying it out loud, Nico knew he couldn’t let his crush grow to anything more than that. He couldn’t, wouldn’t bring Will down with him. He was basically a bad luck charm – looking back on his life, that wasn’t hard to believe, especially in the love department. Death and destruction followed him. He would hurt Will. “I just know it,” Nico whispered.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped themselves around his torso and brown curls filled his vision. “Oh, Nico,” Hazel whispered into his chest. She looked up at him, her expression concerned but understanding. And then, “You’re so dumb.”
Nico was taken aback. “W-What?” he stammered.
Hazel sighed, pulling him to sit back on the bed. She brought her legs up and fully faced him, holding on to both of his hands. “Nico di Angelo, you are an amazing person, and don’t you forget it.” Nico’s eyebrows creased in confusion and opened his mouth to speak, but Hazel put a finger to his lips. “Na-ah! My turn now,” she smirked, then sobered up once more and continued. “You are a hero. You fought in two wars. You saved countless lives. You rescued me,” she smiled fondly at him. “You went through so much to help Percy and defeat Gaea. You, dear brother, single-handedly transported the Athena Parthenos and two passengers across the Atlantic. You almost died saving the world, several times probably. You,” she poked him in the chest for emphasis, “are so incredible and awe-inspiring. You just need to see it. Don’t you dare think that you are anything less.”
Nico was at a loss for words. He expected a few things from this conversation, but not this. He didn’t know how to handle being praised so highly. It didn’t make sense to him.
Luckily, he was spared from responding as Hazel moved forward. “Now, I wasn’t going to tell you this because I thought you should find out on your own, but I now see how hopeless you are.” Nico squawked indignantly as Hazel rolled her eyes. “You are. Anyways,” she flicked her hair back and looked Nico directly in the eyes. “Will is definitely into guys, and he’s definitely into you.”
Hazel waited for that to sink in. She would have to wait for an eternity, because that was not processing at all in Nico’s brain. Will is into guys? Will is gay? But he could’ve sworn he heard something about an ex-girlfriend. Can he like both? Is that a thing? Wait, wait, back on track… wait, Will is into Nico? That’s not possible… wait, “How do you even know that?” Nico voiced. Hazel doesn’t go to this camp, there’s no way she could pick up on that in the few times she and Will have interacted.
“Nico, I know all things.” Nico gave her a deadpan look, and Hazel gave it up immediately. “Okay, okay, so Piper has told me things. But also,” she held up a finger defensively. “I can tell by the stories you tell me about you and Will.” She smiled, remembering how every Iris message they had involved the healer somehow. “You guys hang out all the time! So, obviously, he doesn’t not like you. So, you can cross that one off your list.” She motioned sweepingly, as if throwing out the list completely. Nico frowned, not appreciating his list being dismissed so easily. “Will totally likes you, Nico, or he wouldn’t nag you about your health,” now she was the one ticking things off on her fingers, “insist on you sitting at the Apollo table, ask you to help in the infirmary, sit by you at the campfire, stay up late talking outside your cabin until the harpies begin to swarm—”
“Okay, okay, enough. I get it,” Nico cut her off before he could become more embarrassed. In this context, it did sound like Will paid more attention to Nico than a normal friend would. But— “Will is a nice guy, though,” Nico protested. Why am I protesting when I want this to happen? Oh right, because— “That doesn’t change the fact that I don’t know what I’m doing and I’ll mess up somehow, and then my friendship with Will will be gone too, and I can’t…” Can’t live without him, Nico realized, and that scared him even more than the crush.
Hazel put a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. “No one knows what they’re doing in relationships, Nico. It’s something you figure out together. That’s the beauty of it,” she threaded her fingers together with Nico’s, “you get someone to walk alongside you, to figure out life together. It’s not always easy, and it’s rarely ever simple, but it’s real as long as you’re real. And honest. And the most honest thing you can do right now is tell Will how you feel.” Nico took a breath, ready to object, that no that still seems… scary, but Hazel already knew what he was going to say. “It’s scary, terrifying really, but it’s the most real thing you can do. I can’t make you any real promises,” though Hazel very much wanted to, “but I am confident that you won’t regret it. You can’t have this weigh down on you forever.”
Nico deflated, all fight leaving his body. He couldn’t say much to that. The thought of getting it out in the open sounded… freeing, but also paralyzing. But his sister seemed really sure on the Will liking him part, and he trusted her, wanted her to be right.
He still felt like running away, like burying his feelings would make them go away, but he knew better than that. And, as paranoid as he was, this felt different from Percy. He was an infatuation from the start. But Nico had been friends with Will for months now, he didn’t have any grand illusions about him. They knew each other, and somehow, their relationship didn’t seem as impossible as Nico had thought pre-rant.
For the first time, Nico actually felt hopeful.
He turned and hugged his sister tightly. “Thank you,” he said softly into her hair. He felt her smile against his shoulder and squeeze just a little tighter.
She glanced up at him suddenly, a teasing smirk on her lips. “William ‘Literal Sunshine’ Solace, huh?”
Nico pushed her away and rolled his eyes, feeling the blush in his cheeks betray him. “Shut up.”

The Viridian Vanguard (Part 32)
Elsewhere in the Grove during the duels, Weiss was in her nest, Penny snuggled up to her chest, Cheese and Winter’s summons around her for company, menial tasks, and/or food as she watched holos through Penny’s projector. (The quality was far superior than her comm-crystal’s.)
“I feel it… the purity of their love…!” screamed the monster of the week. “This is it… the power, of YURI!”
A wave of purple-black miasma shot out of the monster, washing over the convention floor, reality itself beginning to warp and change as bright, prismatic energy was sucked out of them.
Hina gasped. “Akane, Aoi, look! All the couples, the anime and manga, even the doujins and the fan art—they’re all losing their gayness!”
“You monster!” Aoi screamed. “Do you know how long that slow-burn was between Diya and Nene?! This is an affront to all of Girls Love!”
“You’re going down, Yarama!” Akane screamed as she whipped out her spear, Hina and Aoi doing the same with their weapons.
“Piper, this show is so fucking stupid...” Weiss muttered.
“Would you like to change to something else?” Penny asked through an annotation on the holo.
“I didn’t say I wasn’t enjoying it!” Weiss said.
A fight sequence began, the tables and displays being torn up and destroyed from the empowered monster, the heroes trying their best to spare the panicked, confused convention goers, and the merchandise, too, if they could help it.
“Face it, Spiral Hearts!” the Yarama cried. “The power of women loving women is just too strong!”
“That is true…” Hina replied “… but it’s not as strong as the true fans of yuri, those who make and support new content for fans everywhere, not filthy parasites like you! Akane! Aoi!”
“On it!” they both cried, before they all joined their weapons into one giant cannon. “For the love of all that makes our lives worth living… SPIRAL PIERCER…!”
The projection suddenly stopped, Penny’s eyes flashing green.
“What happened?” Weiss asked amid the disappointed growls and groans of the summons.
“It seems there was a serious accident during Jaune and Pyrrha’s training!” Penny replied, untangling herself from Weiss’ arm, then hovering towards the window. “I’m afraid my medical expertise is needed on-site, apologies, Weiss.”
“Don’t you just have first-aid equipment right now?” Weiss asked as she sat up.
“Yes, but I still have my treatment database, patient history, and high-precision scanners,” Penny replied. “I’ll inform you of any new developments as soon as I can!”
Weiss sighed, frowning as she watched Penny fly out the window and out of sight. One of Winter’s summons gently prodded her on the side, and gestured to her comm-crystal charging on a dock in the corner; she turned to them and shook her head. “You’ll have to find out what happens next later, I’ve got a hunch I need to investigate,” she said as she stood up. “Help me get dressed, everyone!”
The summon sighed, before everyone available either fetched Weiss’ garments from the closet, or helped her put it on. “Cheese, you’re coming with me,” Weiss said as she scooped what remained of him from his plate, now just a small blob no bigger than her hand.
c:
“I’m heading out to the training grounds!” Weiss said as she passed by Winter in the living room.
“Don’t try to squeeze in more exercise when you’re supposed to be recovering, I really did mean that was the only time I’d carry you back!” Winter replied, not looking up from the Nivian-Actaeon book she was reading.
“I won’t, sheesh! It’s been what, four years since that happened?” Weiss said as she opened the door.
“I know you, Weiss, it takes a long while for you to give up on something you’ve put your mind to,” Winter replied as she turned the page.
Weiss shook her head as she shut the door behind her, called for the elevator before taking a bite out of Cheese.
He was down to just his soulstone by the time she arrived, by which point Jaune was securely strapped to a spine board and being carried away by Taiyang and Nora, Ren and Penny following them with medical supplies.
Futher away, Yang was on a bench, comforting the rather glum looking Pyrrha sitting beside her. After a few moment’s consideration, Weiss stepped over and asked, “May I ask what the hell happened to Jaune this time?”
“We were dueling, and I accidentally threw him far harder and further than I intended,” Pyrrha replied. “His landing was… ugly.”
“Should I…?” Weiss asked uneasily.
“In short: he looked a human pretzel,” Yang said. “Just so you know, the un-pretzeling process wasn’t pretty, either.”
“Uh... huh...” Weiss mumbled. “Do you need me to stay, or should I just leave…?” she asked, thumbing behind her.
“If your brain is functioning enough again for Pit Fighter business, sure!” Yang said.
“I’ve made quite a lot of progress on the weapon choice front, it’d be a shame to waste this time,” Pyrrha added.
Weiss nodded, and sat down with them. “So how’s it going, exactly?”
“If we’re being thorough about it, I’m halfway through the process,” Pyrrha replied. “I still haven’t explored any of the Fae firearms that weren’t almost-complete replicas of AFA armaments, but now I know for sure that I have a solid idea of what I’m looking for in melee weapons.”
“And what would that be?” Weiss asked.
“Something versatile with reach, coupled with a shield and elemental mediums for an all-rounded offense or defense,” Pyrrha replied. “Weiss’ temporarily limited powers aside, both of you are highly specialized fighters, and I’d rather not lose a good chunk of our effectiveness, or expose glaring weaknesses in our defenses should one of you be downed, or otherwise indisposed. Whether it’s defending against attacks from any range, leading a charge into our enemies, or wreaking some elemental havoc, I’ll be ready for it.
“That being said, I haven’t seen what Fae ranged weapons can bring to the table, and if the melee weapons were any indication, they should be quite the learning experience.”
“You should probably join us at the firing range later, Weiss!” Yang said. “Get a feel for how the Fae deal death from a distance.”
“I’d rather not,” Weiss replied. “After all that training at the Terrace, my arms will definitely become too sore to even hold a gun as soon as I’m hit the recoil.”
“I meant in a mental, tactical sense, see what you might go up against in person!” Yang replied. “You’ve barely seen anyone really use a ranged weapon outside of all-out war where tracking who fired what was the least of your worries. Plus, the special ammo will give you a great idea of what happens when you mix elements up—nothing wrong with your using pure, but you miss out on useful things like Melty Wash that way.”
“’Melty Wash…?’” Weiss asked.
“Melty Wash,” Yang repeated, nodding. “It sounds just as stupid in Actaeon, don’t worry.” She winced as her stomach growled. “Ugh, all this drama made me forget how hungry I am—come on, let’s go get some grub and a nap, then on to lighting shit up!” she said, getting up.
Weiss shrugged. “Alright, fine, I’ll go!” she said as she hopped up. “I figured I needed to get out of bed and do something productive today, anyway...”
Jaune was left in the cabin he bunked in, Taiyang and Penny stayed behind to take care of him and keep him company. Everyone else had lunch and rested a while, before discussing Pyrrha’s firearms training.
As elementally-infused ammo, alchemical grenades, chemical weapons and the like needed to be specially ordered by and used under the supervision of a senior watcher or other qualified individual, and Qrow was far too drunk at the moment, they started out with the standard Fae firearms.
In contrast to the practical, sleek, and streamlined AFA guns Pyrrha was used to, the Fae practically made it a point to have their guns as flashy and embellished as possible. Every one of them seemed to have as many engravings, stylized components, and decorations as they could possibly add without compromising function too much, like an iron sight made out of some long-dead predator’s skull, the gun barrel coming out of its jaws
Metal and wood were the materials of choice for most of them, all manner of colours, grains, and sheen from the varieties, mixtures, and treatments, with the rest of the parts made from bone, rock, crystal, plant fibers, and whatever else the Fae could get their hands or hand-equivalents on. There was barely any built-in magitech to be seen, no small-form targeting systems, recoil adjusters, or ammo management systems, just physical springs, levers, hammers, revolvers, and whatever else.
And almost all of them were powerful, even the quietest guns having massive impact.
Thip. Crack. Thip. Crack. Thip. Crack.
Pyrrha fired her “Fang Gun” into a log target, each bone projectile lodging an inch or two deep into the wood, splinters flying out from the holes, the cracks clearly audible to Weiss even as she watched from well away to the side.
She stopped after six shots, putting her rifle down and massaging her arms. “Not the kind of gun you fire just for fun, is this?” she asked Ren.
“Not unless your idea of ‘fun’ is accuracy competitions, or clean hunting kills,” Ren replied calmly. “Shall we focus on lower-caliber weapons that are easier to fire for sustained periods, such as repeaters? Most every Fae firearm hits the user almost as hard as they do the target.”
“No,” Pyrrha replied, picking the gun back up, and aiming for a farther target. “I suppose I’ll just have to learn to make every single shot a hit from here on out!”
Ren nodded. “One well-placed bullet’s all you really need, most of the time.”
“And the rest?” Pyrrha asked.
Ren smiled. “Two bullets.”
After Pyrrha started getting used to the intense recoil, and firing far less frequently than she would have with human guns, they started planning which weapons she was to try out, how she was going to test them out, and who would be involved.
Everyone except Weiss donned a set of armour; a small arena was built by a copse of smaller trees with the help of deployable cover, ballistic shields, and the foliage; and several dozen crates of ammo were carted out of storage, their contents transferred to smaller boxes set around the area, or to loaded into all manner of belts, bags, and quivers just waiting to be strapped on.
Before Pyrrha’s first live-fire exercise, however, Ren wanted to demonstrate how Fae opponents would be using firearms themselves, exchanging his usual sickles for two “Shredders,” Fae-style SMGs.
“The first thing you need know is, except for heavy weapons like Hailstorm cannons or extreme long-distance weapons like Shardslingers and Farslingers, Fae tend to prefer shooting on the move, and most can shoot quite accurately and survive getting shot at also,” Ren said as he loaded one of his guns with a clip.
He dashed towards some training dummies, shredding their canvas coverings with short, accurate burts. He maneuvered around their cover and shot them from behind, slid on the ground to slip through tiny gaps and holes in defenses, even leaped off a ledge and fired the last of his clip in mid-air.
“Predicting your enemies movements and firing where they will be in a second is a helpful skill in lower ranks, and absolutely vital as you move up,” he said as landed, pulled out his second shredder and loaded them both.
“The second is that, thanks to our biology and engineering advancements, dual-wielding guns isn’t as stupid and dangerous idea to us Fae as it is to you humans,” Ren said as he adjusted the stocks, shortening them and fitting them over his forearms. “In fact, it’s actually quite popular inside the Pits, both as a stylistic choice and a significant combat advantage.”
He calmly crossed a bridge lined with target dummies, both guns blazing and ripping apart targets on both sides, casually bending his arms further and more dramatically than any human could to shoot behind his back, over his shoulders, and even under his leg.
“And the third and arguably the most important is: we Fae are far, far more mobile and agile than any of you are right now, or will be in the immediate future, so do consider any way your enemies can outmaneuver and flank you,” Ren said as he holstered one gun, replaced the empty clip with a drum magazine.
He moved towards one of the “bases” in the arena, a tight cluster of trees with platforms rising up two stories above him, a small sniper’s nest on the third. Several dummies stood behind cover, well-protected from any shots angled upwards, free to pump Ren full of bullets if they were actually armed and alive.
Then Ren started jumping from branch to branch, running up and along the trunk and the walls, swinging from the ropes or running on top of the ziplines, raining metal hell down on all of them from above and behind.
Ren zipped down from the base, gracefully landing back down to the ground. He unloaded the empty drum, turned over to Pyrrha and Weiss said, “Generally speaking, never forget to look up. Now, any questions or concerns?”
“None,” Pyrrha said, smiling as she put on her helmet. “Let’s get shooting.”
“Oh yeah!” Nora cried as she shot out of her seat. “We about to get all John Woo up in here!”
Note: Aside from the tendency for special ammo and the like to deteriorate over time, to the point of being unusable or dangerous to use, it’s also expensive to produce, and capable of causing severe injuries to folks and damage to property that oftentimes require urgent, specialized treatment, thus the many hurdles to legally acquiring and using them. Due to the nature of the Keeper and her team, restrictions are a bit looser and relatively easier, but not by much.
The shardslinger is the non-elemental version of the farslinger. Though they use many similar designs, the key difference is in the loading mechanism and the insides of the barrels, with the latter being specially treated and much, much, MUCH more expensive, to be able to handle the severe wear of high-power elemental mediums. It’s not unknown for substandard barrels to simply explode or melt during stress testing.
This chapter was coded “Shooty Shooty Bang Bang.” The next chapter is coded “John Woo-ing It Up In Here.”

hey there, demons ! it’s me, ya boi ! i’m alex, i’m 20, i mostly learned how to read and i go by she / her pronouns ! i’ll be playing solange and i’m super excited to write with all of you ! short lil intro is under the cut !
( HALSTON SAGE, NINETEEN, SHE / HER ) - that’s SOLANGE SHAPIRO, i hear that the CLAIMED DAUGHTER of APHRODITE has been here for THREE YEARS ! i also hear that they’re AFFABLE & PASSIONATE, but that they’re also STUBBORN & GUARDED !
BACKSTORY !
solange was born in new york city, right at the end of july
she’s a daughter of aphrodite, which is reflected in her tendency to literally fall in love with quite literally anyone who looks her way and says something nice ( that said, those emotions are often short-lived, and she then tends to move on just as fast as she fell )
her biological father found her on his doorstep one morning, but wasn’t particularly surprised, given his self-attributed playboy label ( back in the day, he likes to say he’s reformed now )
she grew up with the up’s and down’s of having a single parent, but grew to love the independence that came with her father working to provide for two
much like piper, solange has always unknowingly had the ability to charmspeak and never really realised she was using her power growing up
her uncanny ability to get professors to bump up her grade, coaches to let her onto sports team, stores to offer her discounts, or even get boyfriends to drop to their knees earned her a reputation in school, and while some were kind enough to attribute it to her being a persuasive personality, others thought that she might actually be the type to show some skin to get her way
it wasn’t until she was claimed that every puzzle piece assembled in her head, and she was able to move on from the rumours and accusations
that said, there are still a couple scars left over from her childhood, notably the one left by growing up without a mother — though solange now understands why her mother couldn’t stay around, a small part of her’s still terrified of abandonment, yikes !
PERSONALITY !
solange is one of the mellower aphrodite kids, and isn’t one to whisk every camper away into cabin ten to get a makeover as soon as she spots their muddy shoes — that said, if you ask, she’ll happily share her homemade masks and give you a facial
if there’s one thing she feels a twinge of guilt about every now and then, it’s not everything she achieved and was given because of her power, it’s how quickly she loses interest in those she begins romances with
she’s big on honesty and would rather tell people / have people tell her the truth, rather than shut up and be nice for the hell of it
+ BONUS: you can find her stats here and her pinterest board ( which is a work in progress and which i might split into sections to make mini boards for all her connections ) right here !

Leo Valdez imagine|Fireworks
Yo waddup! Imagine number 2. Again, don’t be hard on me, I’m new with this stuff.. enjoyyyy!
Summary: The reader and her crush Leo Valdez happen to see some colorful fireworks in the night sky.
-any godly parent -no warnings, perhaps some swearing?
—————
The 4th of July. Happy Birthday America yeah. Even though everyone around you was keen on celebrating this wonderful day, you were frustrated.
Why? Well the reason started with ‘L’ and was latino. Yeah! Right guess! Leo Valdez! (Hehehehe)
The adorably funny fire boy never left your thoughts. You couldn’t shut them off, you couldn’t think of something different. You even tried to band Leo from the fucking server. No luck.
Lost in thoughts, you didn’t notice Piper approaching your bench.
“Watcha thinking ‘bout (Y/N)?” You looked up to see her smirking. Did she know? Was it that obvious?
“U-uhm nothing, why?”
“Oh don’t 'nothing’ me! You know damn well what I’m talking about. Wait let me help you remember: does your huge crush on a certain member of the seven ring a bell?” She asked raising an eyebrow.
“Wh-what.. h-how did yo-.. no.. I-i don’t have a c-crush on Leo!” You tried to save yourself, oblivious to your mistake.
“Ha! I knew it! You have a crush on Leo!” And suddenly she started singing. “(Y/N) has a crush on Leo, (Y/N) has a crush on Leo!” A small amount of charm speak, that Piper didn’t mean to release, washed over you and you started to lightly hum to the rhythm. Until you noticed what you were doing and stopped yourself.
“Piper! Stop! Please.. I don’t want anyone to know. It’s already embarrassing enough.” You whined.
“Oh come on (Y/N)! Leo’s a good guy. And i think he likes you back.”
Your heart skipped a beat. I didn’t matter if piper was right or not. Somewhere your hope lit up and, no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t avoid smiling. As you pictured the both of you together you felt your cheeks lit up and looked away, embarrassed to be seen like this. Changing the topic, you asked something you had wanted to ask her all day.
“So what’s the plan for tonight?”
Your best friend seemed fed up about the change in subject, but quickly forgot that, as she started talking about the plans.
“So at first we wanted to do something in couples. Just the seven… and then we noticed that Leo is the only single… so now we will all just go see the fireworks and enjoy each others company. Why? What are you gonna do?”
You thought about your plans. “I’m gonna do the best thing on this planet. Make myself a huge bowl of popcorn and watch game of thrones. And when I’m done with that, imma grab a bag of chips and begin the walking dead and then imma finish reading harr-” you were interrupted by an unimpressed piper.
“Ok stop” she put her hand on her hip and smiled “you’re gonna come with us. No but’s! It’s decided!”
“But..-”
“I said no but’s! Meet me at 8 in my cabin. And take some clothes with you. And by “nice” i mean NICE, alright?“
You sat there, thinking about your answer. Sure, it was cool having friends and going out with them. But you wanted to finish reading your favorite book.
Then you thought about your crush. Usually you never wanted to be seen by him. It made you think you looked suspicious. But at that moment you didn’t care. So you decided to give it a try.
"8 it is then.” You simply answered. A huge smile grew on pipers face. It made you happy to see your friend like that. You had seen her sad so many times. She was a wonderful person. All of the seven deserved the world. Not to save it. To enjoy it and live a happy life.
But you couldn’t just magically wish them a happy life. Maybe you could just be with them and make them laugh. Even if it meant to skip a perfect Netflix night.
'Le time skip’
All afternoon you were nervous. Regretting your decision, but then catching yourself making inhuman sounds as you were filled with excitement. A ton of emotions washed over you again and again. Some positive and some negative, but they were there.
You decided to try to nit be hopeful. Every time your heart pictured you and Leo together, your mind screamed for the image to go away. It was a fight no one could really win.
Caught up in the show of the battle in your brain, you didn’t notice it was getting late. So you quickly moved to the closet in the cabin of (G/P), trying to find something to wear. Soon you realized though that you were not going to find something in there. So you made the decision to ask Piper for advice.
As quick as possible you walked to the Aphrodite cabin. There were already some fireworks, symbolizing that the fun evening with the group was getting closer and closer. That made your heart skip a beat and your feet walk faster.
Soon you reached the cabin and knocked on the door. Piper opened and didn’t seem surprised by your appearance.
“Didn’t find anything, huh? Well I have ton of stuff. Just come in!”
And so you did. You entered the Aphrodite cabin and were overwhelmed by the smell of oil and sweat, which you found odd. So you asked Piper about it.
“Uhm Piper… why does it smell like in some kind of fabric in here? Isn’t it supposed to smell like perfume and roses?”
Your best friend just turned around and looked at you with the biggest grin you had ever seen.
“Hm.. so that’s how it smells for you!” You were confused and Piper could tell by your face.
“Girl. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, right?” You nodded your head. “Well it should smell like love in here. But there isn’t just one smell of love. Everyone smells something different, because everyone has a different definition of love. Understood? Good. So me for example, I smell the rain after a hot day. Or sometimes the wind in winter. So it smells like Jason basically. Annabeth, she smells the sea, duh… everyone smells something/someone different.” And with that she gave you a second grin. “Which means….”
You stood there in shock. You hadn’t meant to embarrass you. Luckily none of her siblings were there to laugh at you.
“Wh-whatever. Let’s just- let’s just… you know-”
“Calm down!” She laughed, “I have the perfect dress for you!”
“Dress?!” You hated dresses. So you hated what was about to happen.
“Yeah! Look here.” She held out a dress. It was white and had two hearts on it. Both on the chest. You cringed. “Really Piper?”
She looked confused, the took a look at the dress herself and laughed. “Oops! Wrong dress! I apologize!!”
Then her head was lost in the closet again.
The next dress she pulled out, was much better. It was reddish, but a little tighter on the top. From the waist down, it fell beautifully. It convinced you from The moment you saw it.
“Yes.” You said and Piper had a victory smile all over her face.
“Ok now… make up and hair.” She said and both of you moved to the cabins bathroom. You were there for like 30 minutes and when you left it, both of you were ready for the party.
Piper had a white dress and her hair pulled in a ponytail. You had your dress on and your hair was straightened. With only a little bit of make up, both of you looked like natural beauties.
“So… you ready?” Piper asked, clearly seeing how nervous you were.
“Yeah… let’s do this” you tried to get yourself to believe, that everything would be ok. But it was difficult with all the nervous thoughts filling your brain.
“It’ll be ok” Piper said and hooked her arm with yours.
“It’ll be ok.” You repeated and the both of you walked out of the cabin, towards the beach.
'Le time skip 2.0’
It was difficult walking on the beach with a dress. There was a light wind, but the weather was ok. As you approached the others, you could see that you were the last ones to arrive.
To your surprise you could see two more people. They were holding hands.
“Omg it’s Will and Nico! I might not be able to contain my screams.” You said to Piper. You had shipped them since they first talked. It was your OTP, and seeing everyday that it had become canon made your life worth living basically.
“Same girl!” Piper simply said as you reached the other ones.
“Hey guys!” Your best friend said, catching the others attention “I brought (Y/N) too! I hope that’s alright.” You looked at her, with your eyes saying everything. She hadn’t asked them?! What if they didn’t want you there?! What if they wanted some privacy?! What if-
“That’s perfectly fine! The more, the better! Hey (Y/N)! How are you?” A voice spoke and you instantly recognized it as Percy’s.
“Oh.. H-hey guys. Thanks Percy. I’m good! How are you?” Percy smiled at you.
“I’m perfect! Well I’m feeling perfect too of course!” At that Annabeth gave him a quick slap on the arm.
“Oh come on Seaweed Brain. We don’t want (Y/N) to leave because she thinks we are so weird.” She said and looked at you with a sorry face.
You laughed and wanted to say something, but then he spoke.
“Hey (Y/N)!”
“H-Hey Leo! How are you?”
He smiled, and for a moment you think you were gonna fall to your knees. Thank gods your arm was still linked with Piper’s.
“I’m really good, thank you! How about you? Oh wait you answered that to Percy already right? Ugh I’m sorry.” He smiled and looked down. Your knees were definitely pudding now.
“I’m great Leo, thank you so much for asking.” You said and smiled at him.
“Wanna take a walk till the fireworks really start?” He asked and you were wondering how you were still standing.
“Yeah sure. Be right back.” You said the last part to Piper, who was talking to Jason.
Leo and you took of and walked along the water. Your feet were inside, while Leo’s were on the sand only. At first there was silence with some random small talk. Leo had asked you about your day and you repeated his question.
It wasn’t awkward though. You loved to be around him. Sure, you got all nervous, but it was comfortable and you could be yourself.
After some time of talking, Leo turned towards you and stopped walking.
“(Y/N)?” You hummed in response staring at him, waiting for his next question.
“Do you like someone?” He asked and you weren’t prepared for that question, so you blinked and started stuttering.
“Uhm.. I-I.. do you?” You were taken aback by his smile. It was weirdly confident.
“In fact, I do.” He said. You didn’t know If to be happy or sad.
Happy because there was a chance that he liked you back. Sad because there’s a chance that he loved someone else.
You stared at him, frightened of your next question. “W-who?”
“Well she is beautiful.” He started. Your first thought was 'Oh wow.. definitely not me’
“She has (H/C) hair. And beautiful (E/C) eyes. I love when she smiles. It makes my days better. She enters a room and you could think the sun started shining even brighter. I love her so much, I wish she’d know.”
You wanted to scream Don’t tell her! Tell me!’ But obviously that would look suspicious. So you tried for the helping best friend kinda advice. You ignored the pain in your chest and said. “T-Then tell her. I-I think she’d want to know if such an amazing person as you loved her.” It was only the truth. Right as you said that, the fireworks, that you had completely ignored, became louder.
“Alright then” he looked you into your eyes “(Y/N)…. I love you.”
Your brain was on fire.. well it felt like it was. Your cheeks were to 100% as red as your dress.
“Oh my gods.” Is all you could say for the moment. He smiled and took your hand into his.
“Do you want to be my girlfriend?”
“Fuck yes” and he kissed you. It was a tenderly sweet kiss that had you on cloud 16389. After pulling apart, you hugged him. The smell of a machinery filled your nose and everything was perfect.

Valentine’s Day Part Two
Part One
Nico went down to breakfast in a gloomier mood than usual. He’d barely slept, worried about what Connor might be planning for Will, worried he was going to plan for Will. When dawn had forced its way through the curtains Nico cursed Apollo and his stupid son, and wondered if he could get away with not leaving his cabin. He’d come to the eventual conclusion that he probably couldn’t, and had kicked his blankets off and dressed as though preparing for an apocalypse.
Will was conspicuously absent which was a little confusing. He hoped something awful hadn’t happened, and wished he’d been more specific with Connor.
He sunk down at Will’s table and tried to blend into the shadows. He hadn’t felt out of place in a while, but now he found himself wanting to disappear. The rest of camp ignored him as people gravitated to their respective others. Nico felt a little hollow as he watched, sick with nerves about Will arriving, about seeing the light in his eyes dim as he realised Nico was a failure of a boyfriend.
Across at Zeus’ table Jason handed Piper a small jewellery box. Nico watched the joy on her face and couldn’t help smiling. He felt someone sit down next to him and, as often happened around Will, felt himself relax slightly in spite of himself. He leant against Will with a sigh and let the lingering feelings of being the odd one out melt away.
“Morning.”
“You’re up late,” Nico said trying to keep the worry out of his voice.
“The door to our cabin got stuck somehow. Took ages to try and figure it out. I thought Kayla was going to climb out of the window.”
“I was hungry,” Kayla protested, coming over with a plate piled high with food.
A stuck door was a lot tamer than Nico had been expecting which was both a relief and a worry because he was sure Connor wasn’t going to be able to be content with little distractions for very long.
Breakfast went by without Will mentioning Valentine’s Day at all. In fact, if it wasn’t for the way everyone else was acting Nico could have sworn he’d gotten the day wrong. He’d expected Will to be more into it, but was also relieved the topic hadn’t been brought up yet. Now he just needed Connor to pull through, and while Will was distracted he could at least sort out a card.
“Will!”
Nico never thought he’d be grateful to Cecil for interrupting breakfast but today Cecil was like a messenger from the gods. He tried not to grin as Cecil spoke quietly to Will. Will didn't seem happy and Nico was scared for a moment that Will was going to show his stubborn side and refuse to do whatever Cecil was asking. The whispered conversation may have been quiet but their facial expressions were loud enough and Will was beginning to look incredulous. But Cecil was apparently good at being convincing and Will appeared to give in.
"I've got to go," Will said as he stood, looking resoundingly unimpressed. "I'll be back in a bit," he added kissing Nico's cheek, and Nico should have been used to that but it still had him blushing. He thought Cecil noticed because he smirked. Nico wriggled his fingers at him in a mystical way and Cecil shrank back slightly, eyes clouding with suspicion.
"Kayla -" Will added, but Kayla waved a hand airily interrupting him.
"Me and Austin have got the infirmary. You go see what Cecil needs."
Nico watched Will go in relief and excused himself from the table as soon as he thought Will wouldn't see him rush off. He didn't see the looks Kayla and Austin exchanged. If he had, he reflected later, he might have been able to stop some of the chaos.
Cecil had had better mornings. He thought Valentine’s Day was only supposed to be stressful if you were in a relationship, but barely an hour since he had woken and he was already concerned about his blood pressure. First Will had cornered him and demanded that he find some task that could conceivably take the entire day, but was light enough to not be much of a distraction and then assign it to Will so he could spend some time with Nico. It was a fair enough request, and Will was his best friend so he'd agreed. Then Connor had cornered him and asked him to find a task that was difficult and taxing that would keep Will distracted and away from Nico. Connor was his brother so he'd argued that that seemed unfair, and shouldn't Will and Nico have a nice first Valentine’s Day.
And then Connor told him that Nico had paid them to keep him and Will apart all day. And that's when Connor decided things were probably going to get messy.
He couldn't exactly say no to Connor and he couldn't' exactly say no to Will, so he'd figured he'd just tell Will he hadn't been able to come up with anything, wait a reasonable time and then tell Connor the same thing. He'd then escape somewhere distant and wait for the whole thing to blow up.
Will was following him down from the dining pavilion. He seemed distracted and slightly irritable, but for the moment he wasn't with Nico which he supposed at least made Connor happy.
"What's up?" Will asked eventually, pulling Cecil to a stop by the cabins. "Where are we going?"
"Oh I'm not sure. We're walking."
Will gave Cecil an odd look but obviously decided he wasn't in the mood to question it.
"Did you find a job for me?"
Will seemed distracted; he’d obviously rather be with Nico. Except for some reason Nico didn't want to be with him. Nico had seemed a bit distant at breakfast and at the time, Cecil had put it down to Nico being the opposite of a morning person, but maybe Nico was getting sick of Will and was waiting to break up. Maybe that was why he didn't want to spend Valentine's Day with his boyfriend.
If they broke up it would kill Will, Cecil knew. Will might be a pain and he knew their friendship was almost entirely them annoying each other, but he did not want to see Will hurt.
So maybe if Cecil could find them a job where they'd have to work together Nico would be reminded how much he loved Will and Cecil could save Valentine’s Day. And if he could somehow do that while simultaneously keeping Will away from Nico, that would keep Connor happy and ensure he didn't have to do any chores for an entire month.
"Yes."
"Yes?" Will prompted.
"Uh, baking!"
"Baking?"
"Yeah, so the Aphrodite cabin wanted some heart shaped cookies and other stuff for the fireworks tonight."
"I can probably manage that," Will said thoughtfully.
He grinned, bouncy and excited again and Cecil really hoped that somehow everything would turn out alright.
"You're the best Cecil!" Will called as he raced off.
"You're welcome," Cecil called after him, slightly nervously.
Couple baking. That was cute right? If baking with Will wasn't going to keep them together Cecil wasn't sure there was much more he could do.
"Are you sure the egg goes in now?" Nico asked.
Will studied the recipe book and then shrugged.
"Do you think it makes a difference?"
Nico shrugged too, and cracked the egg.
He'd been in his cabin getting angry at card and glue he'd stolen from Will's cabin and wondering if it was cheating to make your boyfriend a card using materials stolen from him. Then Will had burst in, barely leaving Nico enough time to shove the craft stuff under his bed. He'd told Nico how Cecil had volunteered him to bake cookies for the Aphrodite cabin and Will couldn't say no and did Nico want to join him.
And because Will was the master of looking like a lost pleading puppy Nico couldn't say no. He was pretty sure baking cookies couldn't take too long. He'd do that, and by the time they'd finished hopefully Connor or Cecil would swoop back in to excuse him, and then Nico could go back to trying to make Will's Valentine's Day special.
In the meantime, he had to wage war on cookie dough. He stared down at the egg and the crumbled remains of the shell.
"I think you're supposed to crack them a bit more gently."
"Shut up Solace."
"Make me," Will said which made Nico really really want to make him, especially since Will had somehow got flour on his nose and looked even more adorable than usual.
"You do it then," he said instead. "If you're so smart."
Will took the bowl and cracked an egg perfectly. He looked up at Nico from under his lashes with a devastating smirk.
"Well you've got to be good at something I suppose."
"Hey!" Will protested. "I'm good at a lot of things. Putting up with you for example."
Nico stuck out his tongue and threw a handful of flour at Will. Will shrieked and protested which made Nico laugh.
"You're such a child," Will complained. And then he threw a handful of flour at Nico. Nico yelped as it hit him in the face. He stared at Will for a moment. Will stared at him. They both reached for the flour.
"Hey Lou."
"Kayla! Just the person I wanted! I made you a gift."
Kayla took the proffered painting and assessed it critically.
"It's nice," she said. "It's not my birthday though so-"
"I'm sick of not getting presents just because I'm single," Lou Ellen explained. "So I've started Friendship Day. It's on 14th of February, every year."
"Aw but I didn't get you anything."
"It's cool, I'm playing the long game. I'm guessing you didn't come down here because your psychic abilities kicked in and you wanted to wish me a happy Friend Day though."
"No. Though I have an idea of what our first friendship day celebration could be."
"Shoot."
"We need to be good friends and save Will's Valentine’s Day. He's got all this stuff to do and we need to try and help so he can get through it quickly, and have the rest of the day free to spend with Nico."
"So we're like Valentine's day superheroes? I can dig that. Let me get my spellbook, and we can go."
"What for?" Kayla asked, following Lou Ellen into the cabin.
"It might come in handy. I never leave the cabin without it."
"That's a lie."
"Besides I think there was a spell for confetti in there somewhere."
"That could be cute," Kayla agreed.
"Ooh maybe we could plan them another picnic!"
"This is going to be awesome!"
"So Nico definitely said he wanted to keep Will occupied?"
"Yep," Connor said. "And that'll still be what he said the next thousand times you ask."
Connor had recruited him on a delay-the-cookie-baking mission. Cecil wasn't entirely sure he was happy about it so was trying to engage in a subtle delay-the-delay-the-cookie-baking-mission. It was working, if only because Connor was starting to look a little uncertain about their task.
"I'm just saying," Cecil pressed, "they look kind of cute. Are we really going to break them up?"
"We're not breaking them up," Connor replied but definitely he looked unsure. "Nico just didn't want to spend time with - okay I see what you mean."
They both looked through the window again. Nico was making use of shadow travel to sneak attack Will with canned whip cream.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Cecil said again.
"Ours is not to reason why," Connor said, surprisingly eruditely.
"Look we'll just mess with a few things," Connor said decisively. "Slow the oven down, steal the icing sugar, that sort of thing. Nothing drastic. I mean it's not like they're not making it take about ten times longer on their own."
Cecil sighed but gave in. Couples baking did look like it was going reasonably well so Operation Keep-Will-And-Nico-Together was currently looking like a success.
"Fine," he said.
After all, they'd only be delaying the two having fun together. What could possibly go wrong?

Okay, because it is Aphrodite cabin I have to ask, who has a girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other and who doesn't have or want one? if you're still answering asks about the Aphrodite campers
Anon you should know something about me andit’s that I’m ALWAYS answering questions about my Aphrodite children.
Piper – dating Jason Grace, son of Zeus. Their date nights involvebabysitting her younger siblings, beach days, and Mario Kart set up in Percy’scabin (they both love it)
Drew – girl took some time off to subtly work on herself, hasn’t had adate in awhile. She likes to flirt with mortal boys – demigods aren’t her thingat the moment – but hasn’t made anything official.
Mitchell – Who??? Could??? Mitchell??? Be??? Dating???? No idea.
Scarlett – Has a fanclub. If you listen closely after she flips herhair, you can hear the faint sound of several sighs going through camp. Likesbeing single, could teach a college level class on flirting.
Asher – I haven’t had the chance to work this into canon yet, but Asheris actually Ace! Besides, he’s totally married to his DS and the homemade breadthe Demeter girls will make.
Sebastian – “Can’t be tied down” aka he’s already busy flirting withanother person. He would never cheat on someone – he’s not a piece of crap –but has never actually made anything official enough to be considered cheating on someone. But trust me – his partners knowwhat they’re getting into. Promises of a reallygood night, usually a burger, and flushed pillowtalk are enough for them ;)
Micah – adorably dating Lou Ellen. It’s cavity inducing. She bought hima stuffed shark for his birthday and he hasn’t gone one night without it since.
Stefan – flirting with an Ares boy that no one knows the name of. Withhow Stefan is refusing to tell them, they’re not even sure he knows???
Valentina – on and off dating a Athena boy, it’s dramatic but fun andteenager-y and she kind of loves it. He buys her pizza, okay? That’s all shereally needs for a relationship (Okay and he’s really funny okay???)
Sophia – Hasn’t started dating, although has had a few crushes. With herpartner in crime off on dates every other day though, she’s beginning toconsider it.
Lacey – dating Alice from the Hermes cabin. 90% of their dates are justthem blushing at each other (while Stefan and Sophia watch from a tree)
Sabrina – She’s too young for any kind of relationship, although she hastold many people the fact of how she once married a flower.
Thanks for the question!
