If you think John Dory is a bad character then respectfully, you have no idea what being an oldest sibling is like.

He didn’t abandon his brothers. He was pushed to a point of having to be responsible for four younger brothers, ranging from baby to teenager, trying to coordinate and pull off good if not perfect shows, trying to help Rosiepuff raise both them and himself while also dealing with trollstice and the troll tree while also struggling with an ever growing *need* to be perfect. It doesn’t matter how much you love your siblings- if you’re stressed enough, you’re going to snap and you’re going to snap at them. And you know what? He probably hated himself for that too. And for the fact that he couldn’t be perfect. Any oldest sibling knows the guilt of not being good enough and presumably tearing down their younger siblings in the process…it’s awful. No fuckin wonder he walked away, bro was what, 17?? 18??? He shouldn’t have had to do that. And he didn’t just abandon his brothers knowing what was gonna happen to Branch. From his perspective, he walked away knowing full well Spruce and Clay could step up, and that Rosiepuff would still be there. He had no way of knowing Branch would end up alone and gray, because if he did, he never would have left.

John Dory is not a bad character. He loves his brothers.

Edit: some people are saying he didn’t come back until he needed something. He came back to an empty troll tree- he thought his brothers were dead. He probably only left for a few months or so! He didn’t abandon them. He had every intention to come back and did. His family was just gone.

Ponds: Oldest. Absolutely doesn’t want to be oldest because that means he has to be more responsible than everyone else. Please don’t put that on him. Please.

Wolffe: Second oldest. The one who ended up with the oldest daughter-syndrome. Takes his younger siblings to school and picks them up from there while playing either metal or Barbie Girl on full blast. Extremely adoptable. Plo Koon had those papers READY from the moment they met for the first time.

Cody: Third oldest. Counts himself to be one of the older siblings despite being the middle child. Appears very responsible and usually is, but then he starts doing weird shit out of nowhere. Gets together with an older man who looks like an English professor who part-times as a yoga teacher. Cody thinks that’s the hottest shit ever. He gets made fun of aggressively.

Bly: Second youngest. People think he’s the youngest sometimes, and he is offended every single time. Thinks he can get away from being made fun of from falling in love with his Jedi because at least his Jedi is young and cool. He does not. He has not been called by his actual name by his brothers in years now. One of them got into his discord account and changed his username to Simp-5052. Bly hasn’t been able to change it back. He has tried.

Fox: The youngest. The Baby. Tries to escape the Baby Jail every waking moment of his life. Thought he succeeded when Rex got adopted into the batch. He got set straight very quickly about his life-sentence still continuing. Thought he succeeded the second time when he became the Commander of the Guard. Then Plo Koon heard about him and showed up with more adoption papers and all of his vod’ike are now coddling him. Thought he succeeded the third time when he got married. All of his brothers wanted to give a speech at his wedding. The whole Galaxy now knows that he’s the baby. He wants to maim something.

Rex: The younger cousing who got adopted into the family. The youngest but not. Absolutely plays the little brother card when he needs it, but then the next moment says that he has never met these people in his entire life. The only truly responsible one of them all and he knows it.

So they think this Espio guy their brother got a crush on is just someone who lives a bit far away, thus they're always joking about how their brother got into a distance relationship without know how long is this distance, the only moment they are serious about it is when they question when will they be able to meet this nice guy, just to burst in laugh when Silver says "I already told you, he's from the past!" *Serious gaze*

Awww, that is adorable! <3 I love how Silver's siblings totally accept their brother fighting an egg-shaped megalomaniac who regularly wants to destroy the world, but then time-travel is too unbelievable for them, lol. Silver for his part will staunchly keep insisting he is right and it all happened like how he describes, but convincing them might be quite the uphill battle. And if Espio comes into play as well, it'll become even worse. The teases will be off the charts! Though, if one of them ever comes across Espio in a history book, Silver's gonna be in trouble. He might get teased a lot more for having a crush on a hero from the past who's long dead and "will never even know you exist", as the siblings state. By this point Silver might just have become so frustrated by it all that he goes back to the past, takes a selfie with Espio, and throws it right at their faces to prove he's been right all along XD

Now I am thinking... what could a family with siblings for Silver have been like? How many, brothers or sisters, younger or older... I'm quite intrigued by the thought of it.

Hatt grinned, the whiskey bottle half-tilted in their hand. “You ready for this?”

Isabel tried not to glare from the other side of the counter. “Give it to me.”

Next to her Rodney just nodded.

Hatt neatly poured a thick shot for each of them, then pulled another bottle out of the fridge that had tiny pieces of garlic, onion, and some kind of hot red pepper swimming at the bottom, keeping the brine inside a questionable red-purple color. Behind the first set of shot glasses they filled a second set with the purple brine. Then they swapped the bottle in their hand for a shot glass in each. She copied them, and so did Rodney.

“Pegrás!” Hatt said, and they all threw back the whiskey, then the brine.

As soon as the brine hit her tongue it was over. She swallowed, but she also half fell off the bar stool, coughing through the burn of alcohol topped with the fire of capsaicin. “God. Fuck, Hatt, that’s nasty. Ugh. Why would you do this to good whiskey?”

“Because it’s good and you have no taste,” Hatt said. “Rodney agrees with me. Right?”

Rodney shrugged. “It was all right.”

“Follies of youth,” Isabel said without much conviction. “Can I at least get some milk?”

Hatt poured her a glass without complaint. Probably all they’d wanted was to make her suffer through that.

“If there’s secret shit chopped up in the bottom of this, I’m going to kill you,” she said, taking a drink of it without waiting for an answer. It seemed to be normal milk.

“I wouldn’t disrespect milk like that,” they said, putting the carton back in the fridge. “Besides, Annette would kill me first for fucking up her coffee.”
