Slight add-on to my earlier “Michael is actually trying to get Lucifer’s attention when acting like a Jerk” Season 5 AU

While Lucifer and Amenadiel are suffering a blue-screen of confusion, and Michael is trying to explain that he wouldn’t have actually hurt Lucifer’s human pet (Chloe), just wanted to annoy Lucifer enough to get him in the same room so they could talk for the first time in centuries, their Dad comes and hears Michael’s genuine “I don’t understand how but apparently my actions upset you? I really didn’t mean it,” apology, and decides that Michael needs to go back home. Immediately.

Lucifer, realizing that his brother’s social skills have seriously tanked in the couple million years he’s been gone, and recognizing that look in his father’s eyes decides, nope, Michael’s an idiot but he’s *my* idiot and he’s staying with me, and I’m not going to let him get in trouble because he has the emotional understanding of a rock. (Cheerfully ignoring that until meeting Linda and the rest of his humans, Lucifer was in the same boat.)

Lucifer makes the mistake of saying this out loud. Michael gets offended and they start to argue, during which Amenadiel asks if they are going to cause the destruction of another planet and is ignored. It’s only when they start arguing about which of them is older that God intervenes, reminding them that he’s there and also that they were created at the same time and neither one is older than the other.

Eventually Lucifer is able to get Michael to actually agree to a therapy session, but only once he’s allowed to cuddle Charlie (turns out, Michael’s rather starved for any type of affection, Charlie isn’t scared by him at all, and no, Michael did not give Charlie a cold, he was just taunting Amenadiel).

Going Public

 His hand catches hers as it fidgets on the tabletop, stilling her nervous movements and hoping to lend her some comfort as she works through… whatever it is that's bothering her.

 "Beckett," he says when her fingers flutter against his.

 "I'm sorry."

 Castle frowns. Something is wrong; she's far more nervous than she should be for a regular breakfast date. Hell, the fact that they're having a breakfast date, when so far in their relationship they've kept to the shadows, is enough to give him pause.

 "What's going on?" he asks, lifting an eyebrow.

 Her face blanks but they both know she's not fooling anyone because she sighs a moment later.

 "I want to tell Gates," Kate says. Her tongue swipes over her lip quickly. "About us, I mean. And, well, I'm going to have to tell her…"

 He leans closer, questions poised on the tip of his tongue – what changed her mind, why that seems to be scaring the hell out of her instead of feeling like a breath of fresh air – but she stops him with a quick shake of her head. She needs him to shut up long enough to let her get this out.

 "I'm going to have to tell her anyway," she exhales, lowering her chin for a second before she smiles. It's a tentative, terrified smile, but it's there. "Because I'm pregnant, Castle."

More than one table looks their way as their laughter echoes through the restaurant, but Kate can’t bring herself to care. She takes a long sip of her drink, nodding at the waitress and circling her finger to indicate another round for the table.

She’s long crossed the line into tipsy, and she’s the most sober one of the table, but after the long week the four of them had - and Ryan, of course, but he’d gone home to Jenny - they deserve the night out. So they’d turned it into an impromptu double date, something they’ve been meaning to do forever.

She laughs at something Rick says, she slides her toe up his shin, enjoys the way his eyes darken at the touch. His eyes locked on hers, he reaches his hand out, wiggles his fingers until she takes his hand.

“Okay, two you-” Lanie giggles. “You two need to go,” she manages, her words only slightly slurred. She nudges Kate’s shoulder with hers. “Get the hell out of here.”

She tightens her grip on Rick’s hand and grins, tugs him up as she stands. “Don't have to tell me twice.”

buck doesn’t realize what he’s doing until he’s sitting on a plane at six in the morning departing Los Angeles

he’s been working on auto-pilot for months, doesn’t know why now he suddenly stops to take a moment.

Now being on a flight to Oklahoma to give moral support to his girlfriend who was adamant on him not joining her when he offered

“What she needs is for you to step inside with her. Keep her company in there.”

Going to Oklahoma, it’s the right thing to do…right?

thunder rolls overhead as buck hurries across O’Hare airport, cursing the annoyance of a 30 minute connection and terminal change.

Buck hurries along, dodging strollers and people on their phones, just as he turns the corner to his gate, a flash of light red hair catches his eye. The woman stands in line to board her flight at the opposite gate, her profile barely visible as she looks down at a paper in her hands.

The crackling of the overhead microphone sounds, the woman looks up, and for the first time in years, buck comes face to face with a woman he let pass a pair of glass doors with a kiss sealed promise. Her eyes widen,then soften, as she meets his gaze, and the crackling of the speaker clears, “Due to inclement weather, all flights departing Chicago O’Hare have been suspended until further notice.”

He doesn’t understand. Not about why he left – god knows, he understands that. If Chris had come to him, upset and fearful that he was just going to drop dead one day, Buck can’t say he would have done any differently than Eddie.

season 1 supernatural really was just so iconic because they took two of the grumpiest, ill adjusted, stubborn twenty year olds you could imagine, threw them into a cramped car that only played classic rock by law, and made them fight monsters and childhood trauma together. while they were actively dumbass twenty year olds whose version of research was going to the local library, doing a quick google, and harassing locals while pretending to be government agents. it was a mini horror film every week and the main characters were prissy tough guy idiots. and it was filmed on film so like the haze baby the haze! impeccable vibes
