Two years ago I sat down with a state senator (who later worked with a second senator) to discuss a vehicle motor plate that promoted and benefited PTSD awareness non profits. At the time of submission, I submitted Summit for Soldiers due to their methods of helping veterans with ptsd. Since then, I have also found another great organization named Save a Warrior whose true purpose is to save just one. Their focus is taking a veteran or first responder and enlightening them to life beyond PTSD. From my personal experience, I can tell you that it is successful! I knew it would take some time but it finally came out. Thank you Kevin for your behind the scenes work to help make this happen. The first photo is what Ohio came out with, the others are samples I created to show the senators what it could have been. Today, I was invited by my cohort brother Larry to speak at the Ohio Veterans Administration meeting representing 16+ Ohio counties. We explained PTS, complex PTS, the veteran/first responder suicide epidemic and how Save A Warrior is reversing the trend. We also both discussed a little of our journey from before and after SAW. We then taught Warrior Meditation™ to a couple veterans that were struggling with PTS and even handed out pamphlets to some that wanted to share SAW with loved ones in their lives. Then we ended up at Mission BBQ, a joint focused on Military and First Responders interior decorations and support. Amazing food and the Manager welcomed us with a free desert and expressed his interest in supporting any future events for Killbuck Creek Distillery, which is co-owned and operated by Larry himself, who also shows support for both military and first responders through his company and decor! To those with Anxiety, Depression and/or PTS, this is life. I think it's amazing when friends or family check in with their loved ones that are struggling, but sometimes, the need to dig a little deeper is necessary. We all know by now that more than 20 veterans commit suicide per day, but first responders suicides are now on the rise. We need to dig deep. Those of us struggling need to reach out for help and do the bucket work to stay mentally healthy. Those that know loved ones are struggling, need to ask about their well being on deeper levels. If need be, taking them by the hand to some place such as the Vet Center for Military members, counseling centers for first responders or even strongly suggest they looking into a non profit group such as @save_a_warrior_saw to rebuild them. Change happens based on the amount of effort you put into it. Self discipline and internal drive also plays a huge part. One year ago when I was needing a change, I thought I could do it on my own. The reality is that I needed help. I needed to ask or accept the help offered or given. With the new found tools provided to me, I had to do the bucket work in order to make the change a reality.
