In my heart dwells a pain that if I were to voice it would scorch my tongue
Yet if I chose to conceal it deep inside I fear it will sear through my bones

Adam's children are limbs of one body
That in creation are made of one gem.
When life and time hurt a limb,
Other limbs will not be at ease.
You who are not sad for the suffering of others,
Do not deserve to be called human

I had said that when you arrive I will tell you all my heart's sorrows, but how can I say that now, for all sadness leaves my heart when you arrive.

hyacinths to feed the soul
If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
and from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,
sell one, and with the dole
buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.
(I've always believed that it was Saadi, but I could be wrong):

“Human beings are members of a whole
In creation of one essence and soul
If one member is afflicted with pain
Other members uneasy will remain
If you have no sympathy for human pain
The name of human you cannot retain”

The #Talmud (Shevuot 39a), in discussing of sin, concludes with the Aramaic phrase "Kol yisrael arevim zeh bazeh" which means all of Israel are responsible for each other. Of course, it goes beyond Yisrael, but it starts at home. Jewish law dictates communal responsibility. It implies an obligation on all Jews to ensure that all people (Jews and non-Jews) have their basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter met! Simply by virtue of being a Jew one is responsible for the well-being of others. #Saadi, the great #Persian poet echoed this teaching. In the end, for humanity to survive, we must take care of one another. #ModehAni ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
