russia be like: we did it → Ukraine did it → it happened by itself.
and the world swallows it.
every time someone, sitting thousands of km from Ukraine, in safety and comfort, starts spreading theories in which "not everything is so clear-cut" and "it is not known who is guilty and who is lying", I lose faith in humanity.
nine years ago, russia said that it was not russian troops that invaded Ukraine. today the whole world knows that it was the russians, and the russians do not even deny it anymore.
last year, russia said that it would not launch a full-scale invasion, but we can all see that russia lied. again.
russia justified the invasion by "denazification of Ukrainians", although it is the russians who are known for the phrase "we can repeat" addressing to the Germans in relation to World War II. it is the russians who created the cult of the leader, spread their Z V swastika all over the world and promote the greatness of war.
Tumblr media
russia justified the invasion as a "preemptive strike" so that Ukraine would not join NATO and NATO would not attack russia. although there were already NATO member countries on the border with russia. another cheap lie.
russia justified the invasion by the fact that in Ukraine "the russian-speaking population is oppressed". although even our president spoke russian before the invasion.
meanwhile, russian state channels simply say that Ukrainians annoy them, so Ukrainians must be destroyed.
russia said that it would not shell civilians, but russia began the invasion by shelling houses in the middle of the night and dropping bombs on sleeping civilians. on all of us.
russia said that its targets are only military facilities, but russia destroys entire cities and villages along with the population, killing Ukrainians every day.
Tumblr media
since the beginning of the war, only Ukrainians have suffered. russians forcibly take Ukrainian children to the territory of russia, where the children are subjected to physical and psychological violence. with hard efforts, Ukraine managed to return a few, but currently about 30,000 Ukrainian children (only those who could be counted) are still in russia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first the russians drowned the Ukrainians, and then they began a massive shelling of the flooded cities in order to kill those who survived and those who came to the rescue.
Tumblr media
this is a full-scale invasion of russia on the territory of Ukraine. Ukrainians are dying. Ukraine's ecology is suffering. the russians openly declare that all of Ukraine must be destroyed. they talk about it every day on state channels, their politicians call for the extermination of Ukrainians.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
russians set up torture chambers for Ukrainians, execute Ukrainians, cut off the heads, hands and legs of our people, rape children, film all of this and show off. the whole Tumblr would not be enough to list all the tragedies that russia has caused and for which we cry every day, commemorate the victims every day, mourn every day.
now the russians blew up the dam and flooded dozens of Ukrainian towns and villages. these are terrible consequences for Ukraine first of all. then for the world and environment. but not for russia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and while the Ukrainians were left alone with another russian war crime, with a crime against humanity, against the environment, russia simply says "it's not us" and people still believe it, and russia gets away with a tragic crime again.
please be sensible, russia has been at war with all its neighbors, russia is still at war in Syria, russia has been shelling Syrians even when there was an earthquake! now that russia caused the flood in Ukraine, russians are shelling Ukrainians, trying to finish off the wounded and those who did not manage to evacuate.
russia is evil and russia always lies. these are long proven facts, and if you have never delved into the topic of russian wars before, listen to the victims, listen to those whose lives russia is trying to take away.
everything is very simple right now — take the side of Ukraine. of Syria. support good.

I dunno how your year started. In Kyiv, it started with the day of mourning for people who died on December 29. It's 29 people last I checked the news, but the count is still rising. Rescue efforts ongoing.
The year started in Dnipro suburbs and in Mykolaiv region with getting bombed by Russians.
The year started in Donetsk region, Avdiivka, with shelling, killing a woman. In hromadas Ocheretyns'ka and Torets'ka - two people were killed by Russian artillery.
In Sumy, the year started with Russian drones killing two people.
In Kherson region, the year started with Russian killing a woman from Veletens'ke. Another person was heavily injured.
In Odesa, a 15-years old teen was killed via Russian drones. Here's a video of one of the apartment buildings that got attacked.
The year started for me reading about a boy in Kharkiv who was killed by Russians mere hours before the New Year.
The year started for me in between of air raids. There's currently one. There are explosions in the city.
For Syria, the year started with 3 people dead because of Russians and Assad forces bombed Darat-Izza, near Aleppo.

Okay, as much as I understand the anger of people who are victims of Western media bias against POC, as an Eastern European I feel that we have to explain one thing about the “white people’s war” rhetoric towards the Russian invasion on Ukraine.
This rhetoric still perpetuates the Western ignorance of Russian imperialism & colonialism. It still perpetuates the idea of Russian imperial innocence - which is deadly. Russia is not and never was innocent, period. The first time the name “Russia” (Rossiya) appears in history is when the Grand Duchy of Moscow decides that it is the Third Rome, steals Byzantine symbolism and rhetoric and decides to play new Romans in Eastern Europe, Siberia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. When Westerners see the war in Ukraine, both the left and right sides of the political spectrum see only white Ukrainians, because it is convenient to them. When Eastern Europeans and other post-Soviet people (apart from Russians) see the war in Ukraine, we get flashbacks from Syria and Chechnya. Mariupol literally was given the same treatment as Aleppo and Grozny. C’mon, just Google the Chechen wars and read stories of victims of Russian colonial violence. Read the stories of people who experienced violence in Russian prisons of war. And we fear that might be next.
This rhetoric perpetuates the idea that the Russian invasion of Ukraine hurts only Europeans, in particular, white Europeans, which is simply not true. This war deepens the global food crisis. This war already hurts countries in Africa and South Asia. Those countries cannot afford for the food prices to go up once again, especially after the crisis caused by the pandemic, period. (Unless you wish for more people in Africa and South Asia to experience hunger… but then stop calling yourself an anti-racist).
This rhetoric also perpetuates the idea that all Europeans = white, Western, privileged Europeans and erases the Eastern European experience. And we have experienced too much of white Western b*llshit, believe us.

You know things are terrible for Russia when Russian military personnel are paying bribes to be stationed in faction-torn Syria rather than Ukraine.
Even with its ongoing instability and abrupt outbursts of violence, Syria looks like a better option for Russians than ending up as cannon fodder in Ukraine.
BONUS TRACK: Maybe Russian troops will want to go to Syria just to get away from Russia. 😆
Ukrainian drones a few hours ago struck both an oil facility and a drone factory in Russia about 1,300 km into Russian territory. That's more than twice the distance between Ukraine's eastern city of Kharkiv and Moscow.
Ukraine war: Deepest Ukraine drone attack into Russian territory injures 12
Here's a video report in Ukrainian on the two attacks. Subtitles are available in English.

Ukraine is under daily russian shelling, people are being killed and cities are being destroyed by russia, while Ukraine's borders are blocked by Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and the Black Sea. Ukraine is surrounded from all sides, the authorities of neighboring countries are doing nothing to free the borders for the transportation of humanitarian and military aid to Ukrainians.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what is humanity turning into? the world is helping russia to commit genocides in Ukraine and Syria and wage the largest war in Europe since World War II.
it is very sad that the Poles, Slovaks and Hungarians don't understand that they will not be able to block russian tanks the way they block Ukrainian trucks with military and humanitarian supplies.
what is happening in Ukraine and Syria is a consequence of the world's passivity to the criminal terrorist actions of russia. the world must unite to defeat evil.
the citizens of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary should demand from their authorities to do everything to free the borders if they don't want the war to come to their homes one day.
Ukraine is fighting against the second army of the world. terrorist russian army. remember that only the victory of Ukraine can ensure the peaceful life of the whole world, because only by defeating russia we will show that evil will always be punished and destroyed.

Tbh, it’s interesting to me to see how tankies & Western leftists accuse all people talking about Russian imperialism and colonialism of US apologetics.
Like, b*tch, where do you think I got all the comparisons in order to figure out how Russian colonial machine works? The whole point of us informing about it is to expose that Russia in many ways is no different from the West and the US, that Russia does not want to fight the West for the sake of decolonization and opposition against Western liberal capitalism, but in order to take the place of the West, to become just like them.
POC & the oppressed by the Western world in the eyes of Russia are only a means to becoming a world superpower; behind their back, Russians always feel superior to them. If most of you knew or at least understood the Russian language and followed Russian media and saw what your “ordinary” Russians post on social media on a daily basis, you would have known that Russians often use the most awful racist slurs out there, like черножопец (chernozhopets, lit.: black*ss, black*ssed), which refer not only to Black people, but to POC in general (so a person belonging to an Asian nation colonized by Russia can be called like that, too).
Another thing is, how do you think that we can be enthusiastic about the West, when we know that it is the West that has ignored Russian crimes for decades? How do you think we can love people who can not lift a finger to understand our anger because they just “love Dostoyevsky so much” and it's too “hard for them” to acknowledge that their favourite writer was a gen0cide supporter? How do you think that we can love the people that were supposed to be our allies in WW2, but left us to Stalin and the USSR to exploit us the moment they thought it was convenient to them? How do you think that we can love the very people that chose their money, their warmth, their “friendship” with Vladimir P*tin, their orientalized, idealized vision of Russia over the lives of Chechens, Georgians and Syrians when they were being butchered by Russian troops just in the span of last 30 years?

Daily Wrap Up June 30, 2022
Under the cut: Russian troops have left Snake Island (of “Russian warship go fuck yourself” fame, but Ukraine and Russia disagree about why they left; Ukraine has severed diplomatic relations with Syria after Syria recognized the independence of the pro-Russia separatist-controlled Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic; Britain will provide another 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion) of military support to Ukraine; Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada is working on finalizing a deal to provide Ukraine with 39 armoured combat support vehicles.
(Short one tonight, I had a busy day, but I got the highlights <3)
“Russian troops have left Snake Island in the Black Sea, the Ukrainian Armed Forces said Thursday, after they carried out what they said was a "successful" operation.
The small but strategic territory was the scene of one of the opening salvos of the war in Ukraine, with demands from a Russian warship calling for the Ukrainian defenders to surrender, who boldly replied with "Russian warship, go f*** yourself."
Known as Zmiinyi Ostriv in Ukrainian, Snake Island lies around 30 miles (48 kilometers) off the coast of Ukraine and is close to the sea lanes leading to the Bosphorus and Mediterranean.
Moscow had never laid claim to Snake Island before this year, and it's a long way from any part of the Russian mainland. It's more than 180 miles from Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, and so there is no geographical or historical basis for Russia to claim it now.
On Monday, the Ukrainian military said it hit a second missile system on the island, as well as multiple Russian personnel in their efforts to keep them at bay. In a short post on Telegram on Thursday the Operation Command South of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that "the enemy hastily evacuated the remnants of the garrison in two speedboats and probably left the island."
Satellite images of the island taken on Thursday by Maxar Technologies showed that Russian military forces have left the island.
However, Russia gave a slightly different narrative of the events on the island. Russian army spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing that its forces left the island "as a gesture of goodwill."
He added that "the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation finished fulfilling the assigned tasks in Snake Island and withdrew the garrison that had been operating there."
Konashenkov intimated that the removal of Russian troops should allow an easing for the passage of grain, "this solution will prevent Kyiv from speculating on an impending grocery crisis citing the inability to export grain due to total control of the northwestern part of the Black Sea by Russia."”
-via CNN (this is part of a much longer article)
While the Russian forces have withdrawn from Snake Island in the Black Sea, it may be “too early” for Ukraine to establish an outpost there, said the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Military’s Southern Command, Natalia Humenyuk.
Humenyuk reported the island remains engulfed in heavy smoke as explosions continue. Although the Ukrainian military saw Russian troops evacuate using speedboats, Humenyuk said investigation needs to take place into possible “diversion tools left behind” before claiming back the island.
“Our forces haven’t landed on the island yet,” she added clarifying it is not clear if Russian troops withdrew completely. “We cannot state that they all withdrew. But we hope that they had enough sense to do that." Humenyuk suggested the Russian military set anti-air missile systems and radar station on fire “to cover their tracks.”
“As soon as they understood all these systems were being targeted by us effectively and could not serve them anymore, they realized they had to fold their outpost and get out," she added. “We have to monitor their behavior in terms of their ship groupings and the use of other forces. It is too early for us to form an outpost on the Snake island. We have to finish the investigation into the result of the military operation."
Russian military command justified their withdrawal from the island on Thursday “as a gesture of goodwill.”

“Ukraine announced Thursday that it has severed diplomatic relations with Syria after Damascus on Wednesday recognized the independence of the pro-Russia separatist-controlled Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the decision of the Syrian Arab Republic to recognize the so-called 'independence' of the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
“We consider this decision to be an unfriendly act against Ukraine, an encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, and a gross violation of Ukrainian law, the UN Charter, and the fundamental norms and principles of international law," it added. Syria is the only country aside from Russia to formally recognize the independence of the breakaway regions.
“In response to this unfriendly act, Ukraine declares the severance of diplomatic relations with Syria without the severance of consular relations, in accordance with Article 2 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations done in Vienna on 24 April 1963,” Ukraine's foreign ministry also said, adding that it will impose a trade embargo, as well as other sanctions, on Syria.”-via CNN

“Britain will provide another 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion) of military support to Ukraine, the British government said on Wednesday, as NATO branded Russia the biggest "direct threat" to Western security.
The funding will go towards boosting Ukraine's defence capabilities, including air defence systems, uncrewed aerial vehicles, new electronic warfare equipment and thousands of pieces of equipment for Ukrainian soldiers.”-via Reuters
~
“At the conclusion of the NATO leaders summit in Madrid, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada is working on finalizing a deal to provide Ukraine with 39 armoured combat support vehicles (ACSVs). They had been destined for the Canadian Army and were in the process of being delivered, but instead will be diverted.
"The light armoured vehicles we will be sending over will be extremely effective," Trudeau told reporters as the summit ended. "We're just glad to help and we're going to continue to look and respond to things that they need."”-via CBC

What all these petty, superficial differences – from owning cars and clothes to having Netflix and Instagram accounts – add up to is not real human solidarity for an oppressed people. In fact, it’s the opposite. It’s tribalism. These comments point to a pernicious racism that permeates today’s war coverage and seeps into its fabric like a stain that won’t go away. The implication is clear: war is a natural state for people of color, while white people naturally gravitate toward peace.

The Syrian government's key allies in the civil war - Russia, Iran and the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah - have committed aid to government-controlled areas of Syria. Aid donated by a number of other countries, including China, Sudan, Algeria, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, has also arrived, according to Syrian state media. The BBC saw Russian aid delivered via lorries to a hub at a church in Aleppo. And Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported that a sixth shipment of Iranian aid had arrived. Neighbouring Lebanon meanwhile confirmed that it would open its ports and airports for countries wanting to send aid to Syria. In contrast, opposition-held areas of north-west Syria have only seen a trickle of aid delivered by the UN via Turkey. Mr Mekdad said the Syrian government was committed to "delivering humanitarian aid to all those in need, in all areas, without any discrimination". But groups in the opposition enclave are not currently accepting aid from the government, fearing a propaganda victory for Damascus.
