You just know the NYT has a “style guide” for this sort of thing.
Maybe someone there should get fed up and leak it.

one of the biggest man-made environmental disaster in decades!
the Kakhovka HPP is completely destroyed and can’t be restored.
Tumblr media
water continues to flood Kherson, Nova Kakhovka and other cities and towns, taking lives and destroying Ukrainian ecology;
Tumblr media
over 200,000 residents of surrounding settlements lost access to drinking water;
there is a threat of nuclear disaster due to possible cooling issues at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant;
over 150 tons of machine oil have contaminated the Dnipro River. there is risk of a further 300+ tons leaking;
Tumblr media
river water drifts russian mines, they detonate in the flooding zones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
regardless, thousands of animals, both wild and domestic, affected by this flooding. Ukrainians save everyone they can find. the search for animals and people continues for the second day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the scale of this terrorist act is difficult to predict. it threatens hundreds of thousands of lives — flooding will continue for at least another 4 days. international organizations created to save people and animals in such cases do not respond. Ukrainians were left alone for the second day in a row with a large-scale disaster!
please do not be indifferent, spread information, reliable information from the Ukrainians who are experiencing this catastrophe in real-time. do not believe russian propaganda, support Ukraine and Ukrainians in our battle for life!

Fascist and pro-Putin propagandists Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk are trying to exploit the fact there're no good English sources on Gonzalo Lira to pass off their narrative that he's some brave dissident persecuted by a cruel tyrannical Zelensky.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gonzalo Lira isn't a journalist. He's a YouTuber. He wasn't arrested for criticizing the Zelensky government (he's been doing it for years), he was arrested on suspicion of collusion with the Russian government.
The fact he's been spreading pro-Russia propaganda and disinformation since the before the war, appeared on Russian state-owned networks, and has a Russian official pleading on his behalf, makes me suspect the same thing.
As for the torture, that is just a straight up fabrication. No source for it whatsoever.
I know the Ukraine war has been bumped off the radar of a lot of people by newer flashier conflicts, but it's still extremely important to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people against Putin's invasion and his many cronies like Tucker and Elon.

RUSSIA’S SHAM ELECTIONS, where people are “helped” by armed soldiers who check to ensure they vote correctly—or else.
Does this look like they are helping to conduct a fair, peaceful and democratic election process? Or does it look like repressed voters under duress, who are being forced to vote for Putin under threat of armed Russian soldiers? (source) (source) (source)

russians once again prove that they are terrorists and criminals
«I wanted to give the camera to the owners, but couldn't find them. hope you can help» — journalists received this message from a Ukrainian soldier who found a stolen camera abandoned by russians running away from Ukrainian forces.
in addition to old photos of the Ukrainian family who owned this camera and several photos of the russians themselves, the journalists found a terrible video showing the russians capturing civilians, blindfolding them, tying them all together and chaining them up. adults, children and animals.
important clarification: this video was not shot on the camera mentioned in the message. that camera stolen by the russians just belongs to the residents of the village in the video!
full video with investigation ‼️
the russians kept the hostages in the basements for about a month without food and water, tortured them. this is what Ukraine will look like if our partners stop helping us.
we have already seen similar footage in which the russians led captured Ukrainians and then shot them.
Tumblr media
it is scary to imagine what other russian crimes we are not aware of. please do not let russian propaganda push Ukrainians out of the information field. all these horrors can be stopped only by defeating russia. there can be no talk of any "negotiations" and peace agreements with russia. all that russia wants is to destroy Ukrainians as a nation. stand with us in this fight. stand with Ukraine!

"On 7th of January Ukrainian poet Maksym Kryvtsov and his ginger cat were killed by rssian army on the frontline. He was 33 years old. He was writing poems about the war and his loyal cat friend, while protecting his homeland. He could create so much if russia would not start this unjust horror.
Every time something inside me dies when I see news like this. Every Ukrainian from the beginning of their time in school learns about Executed Renaissance - when on the beginning of 20th century a lot of Ukrainian artists, writers, poets were chased and executed by Soviet Union for creating works in Ukrainian and expressing their national identity. Now it’s happening again, same evil, but under different flag. Besides occupation of our land russia also often talks about how Ukraine is fake country with fake language, they burn our books on occupied territories, mock us, our POWs for the fact we’re ukrainian. They were mocking us even before the invasion, I grew up with watching it on social medias myself. And now a lot of authors can’t create because of the war, russia kills them on frontlines, in their homes, russia purposefully targets objects of civilian infrastructure to leave us without heat and electricity. It pisses me off every time when I see russian “culture” being praised by the foreigners, knowing that it’s made on blood of other nations. Either 100 years ago or now. Because while russian authors can live and create, we have fight for our survival.
Before being killed by russia Maksym published his last poem, where he told about how his body will grow as violets after his death. Every time it’s hard to draw something about the war, I feel literally empty afterwards but I just felt it would be right thing to do. It’s awful that our artists have to go through all of this, so damn unfair, and I keep telling myself that justice is waiting for them but I can’t even imagine what has to happen, everything feels not enough.
Please support Ukrainian authors, until it’s too late."

One interesting thing about this circus coup was what putin did when Prigozhin cornered him/put him under pressure. For so long, we keep hearing "don't give Ukraine weapons, putin might escalate", "don't poke the bear, putin might escalate", "if putin gets cornered, he might escalate." Prigozhin cornered putin, he put pressure on putin, and what did putin? He gave in. He made a deal. He did not escalate when cornered. He backed off.
In other words, give Ukraine all the weapons they need and do not fear escalation. putin is weak.

It's been a year since Russia invaded Ukraine
Do not forget Bucha.
Do not forget Mariupol.
Do not forget mass bombings of civilian infrastructure.
Do not forget the dead, do not forget the crimes.
War criminals must pay for what they did.
Ukraine will be free.
Слава Україні! Героям слава!
