ISRAELI OCCUPATION ARMY BOMBS TARGETS OUTSIDE OF DAMASCUS IN LATEST ZIONIST ATTACKS AGAINST SYRIA
📹 Scenes of large explosions resulting from the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) air and missile strikes targeting the outskirts of the Syrian capital of Damascus overnight.
According to a report in the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), at least two civilians were wounded after Zionist aggression targeted a number of sites on the outskirts of Damascus.
“At approximately 21:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a number of points in the vicinity of Damascus,” a military source is quoted as saying to reporters with SANA.
“The Israeli aggression resulted in the injury of two civilians and some material losses," the source added.
Okay sure, you can make an argument for that, but like, isn't destroying Iran's consulate in Syria also a huge escalation? Israel essentially attacked two countries at once and nobody is telling them "wtf what r u doing stop escalating shit!" But the minute Iran launches an attack....
Let me be clear: Iran's regime is legit awful and they don't deserve any support for their many many repressive policies and violations of human rights. Still, I totally get where they're coming from with this. You do not bomb other countries' diplomatic posts and get away with it. Unless you're Israel I guess. Then it's okay 😒
Also, now with all eyes on Iran, people are distracted from what's happening in Gaza which may very well be an intentional side effect on Israel's part. But don't forget: PEOPLE ARE STILL BEING KILLED AND STARVED IN THE GAZA STRIP.
Israeli Attack on Iranian Consulate in Syria VIOLATED International Law
UN legal experts said in a report that Israeli military personnel and civilian officials responsible for the country’s deadly strike on Iran’s consulate in Syria may have “committed crimes under an international counter-terrorism treaty of 1971, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons.”
“All countries are prohibited from arbitrarily depriving individuals of their right to life in military operations abroad, including when countering terrorism,” they said. “Killings in foreign territory are arbitrary when they are not authorised under international law.”
“Israel’s attack consequently violated the prohibition on the use of armed force against another state under Article 2(4) of the Charter,” they added. “Illegal force was used not only against Iran’s armed forces but also against Syrian territory. Israel’s attack was partly launched from the Golan Heights, which is illegally annexed Syrian territory.”
The experts also said that Iran’s retaliatory attack was “a prohibited use of force under international law.” They argue that since Israel’s attack ended on 1 April, Iran did not have the right to self-defence as the latter is “only lawful where is it necessary to stop a continuing armed attack.”
“For the same reason, Israel’s initial right of self-defence against the unlawful Iranian armed attack on 13 April no longer persists since the attack has been successfully repelled,” they added.Show less
