ronance prompt: "friends kiss each other all the time, right?"
oh look it's like i had a vision of season 5!
The first kiss was a mistake, and Robin’s fault, not that she regretted it. One warm afternoon, after Nancy gave her a ride home, Robin leaned across the car toward her and she swears she aimed for Nancy’s cheek, but Nancy turned her head at the worst - best - possible moment, and just like that, Robin and Nancy kissed for the first time. As much as Robin tried to deny it during her worst moments of self-doubt, the fact that the accidental kiss had lasted a second too long without either of them pulling back remained. After the event, Robin had apologized profusely in a most likely unintelligible rant and stumbled out of the car, literally stumbled, as in, she totally ended up on the pavement. But she eventually made it inside her house, where she was free to overthink till she felt on the brink of death and then Nancy called her that night to talk as they usually did, no mention of the kiss.
The second time was inevitable. There were many good things about being friends with someone equally as smart but in a totally different direction. They challenged each other, encouraged one another to think outside the box, to turn the box upside down with questions, or to absolutely destroy the box in question until it could be assembled back again in a way that solved the mystery at hand. This, however, didn’t come without a price. As it had been obvious since their first time working together at the library, their methods often clashed. Instead of learning how to avoid these arguments as time went by, the arguing only escalated more easily, since they were comfortable with each other, knowledgeable about exactly which buttons to push without pushing too hard, and able to forgive and forget each other in the blink of an eye. Except for the time when they were arguing about something Robin can’t bring herself to remember anymore, and in the heat of the moment they ended up standing so close together that the only viable resolution to the argument had been for Robin to lean down and Nancy to lean up and kiss each other. Brief. Still could be called accidental. Still mind-blowing.
The third kiss? Well, Robin couldn’t stop rambling about one subject or another, and apparently, Nancy couldn’t figure out any other way to get her to shut up. The fourth kiss? After some grueling weeks of Nancy teaching Robin how to drive, when Robin finally got her license she simply could not not kiss Nancy as a thank you, right? Things changed after the fifth kiss though. The two girls were hanging out in Nancy’s bedroom, talking about nothing and everything, teasing each other about their past relationships, carefully not outright mentioning the fact that they were both single, and Robin simply had to know if she was a better kisser than Steve. No big deal, just a matter of pride. The problem, Nancy pointed out, was that she’d kissed Steve much more than a few pecks on the lips. Alas, Robin and Nancy entered the making out with each other territory. Probably helped by the fact that Nancy confirmed that yes, Robin was the better kisser.
After a few weeks of making out with Nancy as often as humanly possible, Robin finally mustered up the courage to ask Steve, “Hey, friends kiss each other all the time, right?”
Steve snorted when he heard her question. “Have we ever kissed?” he asked right back at her.
“Oh shit,” Robin gasped, and started picking up her things, making mostly a mess. “I gotta go. I have to talk to Nancy.”
“Wait,” Steve frowned, following Robin’s hasty movement with his eyes, “Does that mean- Wait. Nancy?! Robin are you-”
“Yeah, I think we’re dating now? I might love her? I don’t know but I’m going to find out right the fuck now. Okay, bye Steve!”

If you're still taking prompts, I have one! The party realizing nancy is the clingy one in the relationship.
Despite everyone's expectations, it is Lucas who first notices the change of dynamic between two of their older folks.
There's just something about the way Robin casually sits on a chair by Max’s hospital bed and the way Nancy comes to lean a hip against the girl's side for hours to no fucking end. And maybe, his brain is messed up from being kept in this hospital for double the amount of hours, but Lucas strongly believes there is no way someone can stand up for such long periods of time like Nancy does when Robin is in that chair.
And yet, Nancy rarely moves away from Robin's shoulder to sit down on the empty side of the couch just a couple of steps away.
He asks Erica about it once. She frowns in thought and starts watches them.
Watches the way Robin steps in the room after work, exhausted and bright and present, kind of independent and perfectly balanced in terms of space and time and nothing else, really. The girl trips approximately five times each time she visits and Erica thinks Max will wake up just to tell her off for knocking everything in the room before collapsing in the nearest empty seat. The couch, a chair, the side of Max’s bed, the coffee table.
Watches each time Nancy stands. Goes to steady her with direct hands and lingring touches as if Robin will crack in half from softly knocking into the corner of the wall.
And then, if she is not there already, each time Nancy walks in the room, she checks up on Max, Lucas, Erica and goes to sit or stand next to Robin.
First thing.
Every time.
Erica asks Dustin about it. And Dustin blinks himself out of his grief for once, blinks over the sight of the two girls sitting so close their sides are pressed together for their heads to nearly touch as they whisper among themselves.
He is the first to catch Nancy tracing her fingers over the back of Robin's hand.
And he asks Steve about it, only that Steve smiles a private thing Dustin doesn't understand and shrugs one of his shoulders, suddenly looking lighter than ever before.
It is not much to ask Mike about it, because Nancy is his sister and they're living together and if anyone knows what is going on that is gonna be Mike, but when Dustin once walks in the Mike's basement with Robin behind him, he does a double take. A double take because Nancy shoots off of the couch as if electrocuted, and drops into Robin's arms with a sigh of absolute relief Dustin feels in his bones just from witnessing.
And Robin catches her. Robin closes her eyes and nuzzles on the top of Nancy's head and rubs an open palm up and down Nancy's back while the other girl clings around her. He does a double take because, when Robin pulls an inch back to look down and meet her friend's gaze, it seems like years drop right off of Nancy at the eye contact and, suddenly, Dustin is violently slammed by the image of Nancy Wheeler not looking like an ancient being related to a goddess of battle and war but just an eighteen-year-old.
And so, he asks Mike.
And Mike says; "Oh, yeah. Robin spends a lot of time around", but doesn't offer much else.
And so, Dustin asks Steve again.
And Steve shoots him a serious glance, stiffening just enough for Dustin to notice and says; "Let them be, Dusty", but doesn't explain much else.
And so, Dustin asks Will and El. Who thankfully hadn't been here when Vecna tore them apart; who unfortunately hadn't been here to click with the new dynamics between them. Both Robin and Nancy are distant figures to them; both Robin and Nancy are fixated points in Max’s room but in the way the silly little drawing of two stick figures in the movies, is taped on the wall.
Will and El watch them in the way they look at Steve and Robin, and Steve and Nancy, and Erica sleeping with her head on Robin's lap, and Lucas being protectively hugged by Nancy's barely longer arms in the hospital's hallway, and Robin and Nancy silently bowing over Max's unresponsive body, reading to her. Talking to her. Staying with her.
Will is the first to catch Nancy breaking down in Robin's arms. The first one to catch Robin pull back to take the girl's face between her hands and press a desperate kiss against her mouth despite the sobs, despite their tears, despite -
Will cannot quite breathe at the sight and, despite Jonathan having just broken up with Nancy, he is his preson, he is his older brother, and so, Will cannot help but asks Jonathan about it.
And Jonathan stills. Looks at Will in silent shock. For a minute. For a moment. And then, he smiles a small and private grin to himself before smiling at Will too, bringing his brother in for a hug and saying he will look into it. For him. For his little brother.
Nancy is still his best friend. Not in the way Robin and Steve seem to be, but the love and care are still standing firm between them. Carefully, when it's just the two of them in his mom and Hop's back porch, sharing a cigarette, Jonathan asks; "You and... Robin?"
Nancy immediately stiffens. Doesn't say a thing for a long, scared moment, up until Jonathan presses a hand on her knee and smiles at her. It makes Nancy close her eyes. It makes Nancy crumble in a way he has never witnessed before.
"I can't..." she cries against one her hands, until he tugs her close so she can lean against one of his shoulders. "Even when she's right there with me, even when she is with me, in the room, physically in the room, I can't... I haven't... I want her".
And so, after work, when Steve and Robin come to pick Nancy up that night to drive her home because Nancy’s car got swallowed up by a gate, Jonathan watches her open the passenger door to tag Robin out of the car for a full bodied embrace, to tag Robin in the backseat as Steve teases them both with obnoxious faces and wild gestures, and Jonathan leans against the doorway and grins after the car driving off the Hopper-Byers' newest driveway.
He climbs up the stairs, two at a time, and bursts into Will's room without waiting for an affirmative and hugs him so tight Will yells at him to be normal, goddamn it! Jonathan just laughs and tells him to be patient until Will yells at him to explain, but Jonathan doesn't tell him shit and watching until it clicks into Will, until it clicks into Nancy and one of the two of them talk.
It clicks into Robin first.
Jonathan doesn't know how, but somehow Robin starts watching his brother with a lip nervously caught under her teeth. And soon enough, Will bursts into Jonathan's room in a similar way, screaming at him that Robin brought him aside earlier today and told him she's different like him and he is not alone and that she also blushed bright red when Will asked about Nancy and sheepishly confirmed everything he saw but half believed it was a fever dream or something.
And so, Will circles back to Lucas who circles back to Erica and Dustin, and then, Mike is thrown into the revelation like someone pushed him into a cold lake in the middle of December. He stares at them all. He paces around the basement. He runs up the stairs and bursts into his sister's room almost giving her a heart attack where she's studying on the floor, and yells at her for not telling him straight on about Robin and what is this when she dated boys before and how in hell is it even possible to -
Nancy shuts the door. Sits him down on the bed. Tells him more details then Mike would ever want to know, but kind of appreciates, but hell if he tells Nancy that.
He is painfully aware the next time Nancy shoots herself from the kitchen counter where she's talking with Holly, to the front door where Robin is standing with a wide smile and the Family Video vest still on her shoulders. He is painfully aware what the sleepovers now mean but the way his sister is pressing her nose on the curve of Robin's shoulder as Robin talks to their mom, is overwhelmingly soft for him to groan about knowing too many details about Nancy's dating life.
Better than Steve in his opinion. Better than Jonathan too because, unlike Jonathan, Robin talks to them about the movies after they actually watch them.
When Mike circles back to the rest of the party, they collectively yell at Steve for not telling them, and collectively agree this is the first time they see Nancy absolutely melt when looking at someone's smile.

2. sleeping in ronance?
hello anon! i'm so sorry this took longer than anticipated! but, i hope you like it!
feel free to send some prompts!
2. sleeping in x ronance
Robin wakes up to the soft pitter-patter of rain against their bedroom window, a head against her chest, soft breaths tickling her collarbone.
For a long time, Robin did not think she was allowed this kind of happiness. That it wasn’t for ‘girls like her.’ She had mostly made peace with the fact that she’d never get this happiness, that it was nothing but a pipe dream for her.
And then Nancy Wheeler happened. (Full of surprises, that one.)
There’s a certain softness to Nancy while she’s asleep. One that Robin adores. The mask that she puts on during the day slips away into the night.
(It’s Robin’s favorite version of Nancy. One that is trusting, unguarded, and so, so soft that it makes Robin’s heart clench.)
Staring at her now; the sharp lines of her jaw, the grip she has on robin, the absolute unruly brunette curls, and the tiniest, barely noticeable snore—not that Robin would ever admit to Nancy snoring, lest she be relocated to The Couch—Robin’s heart soars. She gets to have it. Happiness. She gets to be in love. It’s not a dream. It’s real and it’s sleeping next to her.
Nancy shifts. Eyes fluttering open and looking at Robin.
“Good morning.”
Nancy grunts, hiding her face in Robin’s collarbone, trying to pull more of the duvet over her.
“Okay. Meh morning.” Robin smiles, and she can feel the slight curve of Nancy’s lips against her skin.
So this is love, Robin thinks.
They stay like that a moment, comfortable silence blanketing them both.
She could get used to quiet mornings with Nancy Wheeler.
Robin begins carding her fingers through Nancy’s hair. Nancy hums. “We aren’t getting anything done today, are we?”
Nancy shakes her head. “Mm. Nope.”
“Cool, cool,” Robin nods before looking down at Nancy, “It’s only eight…sleep til ten?”
“Ten-thirty.”
“Deal.”
Nancy sighs, fingers tracing a spot on Robin’s t-shirt, before her breathing evens out. Robin plants a kiss to Nancy’s head.
Yeah, she could really get used to this.

completely jumping off the forced proximity and robin's trauma with underground bases but trapped in a storm shelter or a basement for an indeterminate amount of time (add in the kind of thunder that makes the walls shake and set it after s4 and you've got some hyper specific yet relatively low risk angst right there)
yeah this is basically an entire story right here tbh. all you really need to do is get them wherever theyre gonna be, and then decide what you want it to feel like. is it going to be light hurt/comfort? is it going to be 'oh no we're trapped in here whatever should we do to pass the time' smut? or like a deep dive on trauma?
i think a neat thing about this premise is that nancy has to be the one calming robin, which a lot of these kind of scenes tend to be robin comforting nancy? i like the idea of nancy trying to tell jokes, and just failing, but that working somehow to calm robin down/lift the mood.

Character B has a massive crush on Character A. They kick themself for it, since they're only friends— close friends— and there's no way Character A would ever be okay with it.
Except Character A already knows. In fact, they thought it was obvious. Just something they never spoke of. Maybe bc A was waiting for B to be ready to say it.
One day someone flirts with B, making then uncomfortable, and A is immediately on the offense. They tell them to back off. Because B already has feelings for someone.
B stumbles through a thank you, but saying they didn't have to, or didn't have to lie to them. Leading A to say something like "I think they deserve to know your heart belongs to me if they're going to be hitting on you like that," or something of the sort.

"did you kiss her like this, too?" for ronance kiss!!
“I’m not jealous, Buckley,” Nancy hissed
“Oh please,” Robin rolled her eyes. “Then what the hell is your problem?! You made Vickie run away on the verge of tears!”
“Are you dating?” Nancy asked her suddenly, narrowing her eyes and taking a step closer to Robin.
“What?” Robin blurted out, clearly thrown off by the sudden question.
“Do you love her?” Nancy asked, despite the burning in eyes and the lump in her throat at the mere idea. She continued taking careful steps toward the taller girl until Robin’s back hit the wall behind her and there was only Nancy standing in front of her bomberning her with questions. “Did you play her your favorite song? Did you watch all your favorite movies with her? Did you fall asleep in her arms every night for one summer or, alternatively, did you spend countless nights awake until sunrise just talking about anything and everything with her? Did you go crazy for her too? Or was it just me?”
By the time Nancy was done, they were both breathless and what little space was left between them was quickly erased when Robin reached out to grab Nancy’s waist and swiftly pull her closer against her body. Robin might have a few inches on Nancy, but the way she looked at her always made Nancy feel like she was ten feet tall.
“Only you,” Robin sighed, leaning closer to Nancy, practically shaking when Nancy put her hands on her, on the back of her head to pull her closer tugging at her hair.
“Did you kiss her like this, too?” Nancy whispered right before connecting her lips with Robin’s for the first time. Part of her didn’t appreciate that this was how their first kiss went, but the larger part of her mind was too occupied in pure ecstasy at the feeling of Robin eagerly reciprocating the kiss, holding her securely against her, and kissing her like neither of them had ever kissed anyone else.

nancy not believing she has to third wheel her wife and her wife's best friend all the time
"I swear to god, Nancy".
Nancy groans. "Steve, I care for you I really do-"
"I will not hear it, no. We have a system, alright? We have a schedule and a - a - a daily plan. I am driving her to school. I am".
"You don't have to, Steve! You don't have to be up six o'clock in the morning and outside our apartment when I am right there going to work at the exact same time Robin does".
"No, no. No, we have been doing this for years. Longer than the two of you living together and - no. No. Shut up. Just... let me have this, okay? It's bad enough she's ditched me to live with you".
Nancy feels her jaw dropping, throws her hands up. "I am married to her, Steve!"
"Congratulations", Steve gravely states.
"Seriously?"
Suddenly, "Why's there yelling?" Robin claps her hands as she comes downstairs, glaring at them both.
"We aren't yelling", Steve frowns. Nancy knows they are and feels bad enough to retake a sit on the couch, turning back to the case files on the coffee table.
Robin pinches the bridge of her nose. "I can hear you from upstairs, dingus. The kid has never held a saxophone before in his life and won't learn any faster if the two of you won't quit the loud bickering. If we have the luxury of me just making the school's salary and not the extras from these lessons, by all means, inform me about it".
"We'll shut up", Nancy glances over at her, nodding a reassuring thing. "Sorry".
Robin shakes her head at them before climbing back up the stairs.
"See what you did".
"Oh, fuck off, Steve".
"Listen..." - Steve's hands are suddenly holding Nancy's own - "...you love her. I love her. We are all adults here. It is not about comfort, alright? I know I don't have to knock on your door every morning at seven o'clock. But I want to. I need to, alright? We've been doing this since we were kids. We have a system! She's..." - Steve has trouble around that one and groans - "...your wife is my emotional support lesbian, Nancy!"
Nancy laughs without meaning to.
He grins. "We good?"
"Yeah, we're good. Are you staying for dinner?"
"You want me to?"
"You know we always cook for three in this house, dingus".
"Can I pick the movie?"
"You're on thin fucking ice. It's bad enough she cuddles up to you before even considering -"
"Hey! I am not going to fight about this too".
"Steve! I love you but it is getting ridiculous!"
A loud noise like a boat's fucking horn, blasts through the house from two different instruments, making both Steve and Nancy jump.
It is quickly followed by a kid's overjoyed shriek of laughter and Robin coming back downstairs with her trumpet in hand and a harsher glare.
"Next time I hear you fighting over my precious company, I am bringing him downstairs, putting him on the kitchen table and have him blowing nonsense for the next hour! God knows the kid has the lungs for it!"

Coffee shop AU where Nancy keeps getting love letters written on napkins and can’t figure out who it is. She thinks it’s maybe Jonathan because he’s artsy and probably good with his words, or Steve who’s getting Eddie to write them but neither really make sense. Robin helps her try and sleuth out the admirer but they keep hitting dead ends because Robin is deliberately sabotaging the hunt. She doesn’t want Nancy to figure out she’s the one writing the letters because she’s much better at talking on paper and doesn’t want to ruin the friendship they’ve just barely started

face it, tiger.
(or, a spider-robin story - a spin on the "upside down" ronancetober prompt)
“No, I mean who are you. Under the mask.” Robin perches on the ledge of the balcony of Nancy’s apartment, putting a good distance between them. “That’s for me to know, and for you to never find out.” Nancy’s frown deepens into a scowl. Sirens sound in the distance—perfect timing. “Well,” Robin stands. “That’s my cue. See ya around, princess.” It rolls off her tongue with ease now, and she figures that she might as well double down. She gives Nancy a two fingered salute, before swinging from the balcony and towards the sirens. “This isn’t over!” yells Nancy. Robin smiles to herself. This is going to be fun.

What about ronance and their favorite food/snacks? why haven't we, as a society, discussed this *very* serious matter yet?? (shame on us!) Perhaps they have to host a party or something and need to buy or cook some stuff (one of them is very good at cooking the other is not...? I'm all for Robin cooks and Nancy doesn't tbh, but I'd like to see your take on this).
oh i am a major proponent of nancy only knows how to cook one thing and it is unseasoned apocalypse beans. i think robin learns to cook, but not without a lot of trial and error.
i have never really though about nancy as an enjoyer of food. robin on the other hand is like a junk food addict at least when they're young, so i think nancy picks up some of those habits. probably a big part of robin learning to cook is that nancy will eat whatever she makes and that probably feels good, taking care of somebody with food.
