honestly he is probably one of the few muses i can't put a name just some ideas of who can be compatible with him.
intelligent
decisive
strong willed
willing to accept that he is not a romantic person and will see his job as important as you? and maybe more because he is pragmatic person
can compromise to some extent, but never that be conflicting with the person or their interest

Can't think of someone compatible with his in the TYPE0 world, but Emina can and might ruffle his feathers a little bit. idk.
ngl Aki Minahara could have a chance if she is a little bit older dlfkjsdkfs
anyway he looks for someone serious about the relationship.
he wants a family not just one night stand but he is afraid of making said family because of the crystal and dying and getting people's memories wiped clean.
basically, he does not want to be forgotten ...
uuh he can cook so he is not expecting the whole 'gender role thing'. as long as you are good in the things you like to do, then sure fine. tbh he prefers to cook. he is not big on eating other people's food. though he wont stop you from cooking. surprise him.
cats. tbh it is not something he can give up on for a partner???? because for him feeding and looking after the stray cats is an important part of his life. silly as it sounds but he takes it seriously.
he can compromise a little bit with the cat thing but don't expect him to stop going out to feed them.

AASB, Communal Harmony
USB3, Vivace
G+, Con Brio
equipped with Ultra Cure and Allegro con Moto
Mako Might Record Materia - same effect as Dr. Mog’s Teachings
This was the same team that I used to beat the holy-weak Dark Odin Magicite fight.
Didn’t bother to change the equipped abilities of this team although now I have 3 chars equipped with Black-Armored Echoes - Cait Sith from Final Fantasy VII (#ad), Tyro from Final Fantasy Record Keeper, and Deuce from Final Fantasy Type-0. This accessory adds moderate resistance to all elements.
Tumblr media
Yuna from Final Fantasy X got the accessory that gives major resistance to the dark element while Rem Tokimiya from Final Fantasy Type-0 got an accessory that further increased her mind stat.
Rem was my main and only DPS for this fight. Initially, had her spam Holyja to build up her gauges.
Tyro helped Rem get to 4 bars faster by Entrusting his bars to her. Once Rem has 4 bars, I used her G+, Sync, and AASB then spammed her HA.
Cait Sith alternated between his 2 equipped abilities. But mostly, had him spam Paean to buff Rem’s mind stat. Cast his AASB at around the time that Rem was activating her own.
Deuce spammed Allegro con Moto. Only used Ultra Cure when a char got debuffed. Used her Ultra Soul Break when she had enough gauges to do so.
Yuna was only really here because she has a holy Chain Soul Break. Had her spamming De’Diaja to imperil the holy element.
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that I managed to win against Ark on the first try. Got the win in 23.49 seconds.
Rem really is too freaking OP for words. She’s super special awesome, especially once she’s buffed to the high heavens by her allies. She dealt so much damage.
So glad I was able to get her Sync. Before, that and her G+ were the only things that I had for her. I got her AASB, AOSB, and LMR1 from the free present relic set where we could choose a set of relics for selected chars.
Bought her other relics from the The Record Lab using Anima Lenses. No regrets. She’s already helped me clear a lot of content.
Conclusion
So what about you? Have you tried any of the 5-star Magicite fights yet? What do you think about these quests? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

Fragmented Memories (Part 1)
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Archive Warning: N/A Pairing: Rem x Deuce  Bonus Pairing: Machina x Ace, Nine x Queen Summary: It has been six months since university student Rem Tokimiya experienced pieces of memories that aren't hers. Memories that showcased another version of her battling in a war against the Milites Empire and under the flag of Rubrum. Despite going to a therapist for two months, the young woman has difficulty coping with them. A trip to a bar near her dormitory not only provides her a sense of relief but also meeting someone that she had seen in her memories as a lover...
Tumblr media
A/N: Was originally going for a one-shot, but turns it into a two-shot instead, RIP. The next part should be out soon once I have the time. I had a lot of fun with this!
---
Memories are fragile and sensitive. No one could ever tell what’s fake and what’s real with them. It didn’t help that they were easy to manipulate and alter. Yet sometimes, it could serve as an important breakthrough in a relationship, even if it is beyond human understanding.
“I… sometimes feel like I have these memories…”
“Memories?”
“Like… it’s from someone else.”
The psychiatric doctor cladded in all white continued to write on the clipboard, his eyes never leaving the document. Seated across his stool was a young lady no older than 21. Her shoulder-length brown hair gently drooped over her shoulder and piercing red eyes were clouded with doubt. The college student intertwined her fingers. With every breath she took, the tip of her thumbs would tap upon one another in synchronization. The scratching pen came to a cessation. Ace raised his head, his eyes unfaltering.
“You still have them?”
A pause. Then, a hesitant nod. “Yes.”
It has been two months since Rem Tokimiya became his patient. The young man tapped the end of his utensil upon the sturdy clipboard, his eyes locked on the woman.
“Tell me, have you tried writing them down?”
Rem leaned forward from the rickety wooden chair.
“Excuse me?”
Ace moistened his lower lip. He glanced down to his scribbled notes, then back up again at his patient. A smile graced his lips as he spoke with crystal clear intonation, “Thoughts, places, experiences… Anything that has to do with your recurring, lucid dreams, memories, and flashbacks. Have you tried writing them down?”
“I’ve tried to, but…” she shifted her gaze elsewhere. “It didn’t work out.”
“How so?”
“It’s scary.”
“Could you elaborate on that?”
“…”
Every single time she closed her eyes, if her mind wasn’t filled with mundane life activities and plans, she would recall the traumatic scenes. A shudder ran down her spine as Rem reclined back on the furniture, her arms tightly crossed. No ordinary college student with one of the most ordinary life would ever understand the consequences of war.
It started off as a minor nuisance approximately half a year ago. While studying for her journalism course in her bedroom, an abrupt flashback tore into her memory bank.
Scenes of a gruesome conflict aroused and floated to the surface. Rem found herself dressed in a black and vermillion school uniform. When she looked down at her hands, she observed two blood-tainted daggers in her bruised grip. The roaring flames overwhelmed her auditory sense as Rem raised her head. She wasn’t alone. Rem felt a sense of fear and animosity towards military soldiers dressed in attires similar to a white tiger. Almost as if someone commanded her to, the cadet had raised her blades, her eyes narrowed.
She was ready to attack them— No, she was ready to kill them.
That was all she recalled though. The flashback came to a screeching halt and Rem returned to reality. Rem blinked, her breath had quickened, and perspirations formed on her forehead. A quick glance around told her that she was safe in her private dormitory.
‘ What was that about? ‘
It was a bit too vivid for her to call it off as a hallucination nor daydream, yet she did not think to delve any more upon the matter. There was no reason to. She had her life to live! Rem needed to chase after her dream of becoming a world-renowned journalist, unafraid of the stories she will be writing about, and exposing the truth about corruption.
Though what was bothersome was the fact that she didn’t feel a sense of terror during the aftermath. It almost felt as if it were all so natural. Just as if it were a part of the natural order. The fact that this version of herself was out to kill didn’t bother her as much as she anticipated. Rem had shaken off the pondering and settled with a simple explanation: it was just a dream and it is all a fantasy. Not like it was going to show up again, right?
Oh, how wrong she was.
For six long months, the dreams in her sleep and the memories of another “Rem” muddled into her life. The perverse tranquility that she gains from relinquishing in the death of the so-called Milites soldiers… The fact that she’s fighting for her comrades in an organization called “Class Zero”… The special someone that she valiantly fought to protect in times of war without remorse for the scared enemies of Concordia… That was what terrified her.
It almost paints her as a psychopath, doesn’t it?
Rem bit her lip and could not find the courage to look at the silent Ace.
“…”
It would be best she didn’t drop that vital piece of information. She wanted to at least save whatever little dignity she had left before Ace. The patient doctor allowed his client to sit in pure silence for a solid minute before shooting a glance at the wall clock.
30 minutes had passed. Today’s session is now over.
Ace felt his brows arch upward. He wished he could sit with Rem for eternity and pinpoint the most effective form of coping with this strange disorder or ailment that descended upon the young woman. This is the first he has ever heard from all of the clients he had acted as a therapist since last year. Her case is fascinating and tragic. Nevertheless, he had other patients. It’s unfortunate that a day is constrained to a mere 24 hours. It’s even more unfortunate that her appointments are only on Fridays.
He rose from his stool and offered a hand to Rem. “If writing doesn’t help, I suggest that you find someone to confide in. Since you’ve mentioned your friends wouldn’t understand… and you don’t have a family either… Perhaps someone like your lover?”
She accepted his hand after a “thanks” and softly smiled. “Doctor Ace, I hope you understand that I haven’t fallen in love yet.”
“Ah… I apologize. One might’ve presumed that you were already taken.”
“That might not fare well for my love life.”
“Don’t mind me,” Ace chuckled and walked her out of his office. “My observations about a person’s romantic lifestyle aren’t exactly… precise as I would want it to be.”
“Says the person who got married to his assistant.”
“Oof… You had to poke me there, didn’t you?”
“She’s right, you know.” Machina Kunagiri, sitting in the front desk with two other office workers, smirked as he clicked the telephone back to its place. He swirled on the rolling chair and heeded all his attention to the duo. The smirk still in place, the young man pointed his thumb at Ace. “Too bad the only thing he knows well about love is our love life.”
“Machina…”
“He’s really sweet with me. Too bad his love radar is broken beyond repair.”
“Machina.”
“Did I ever tell you about the story of when he mistakenly thought his patients were married in the lounge here?”
Rem shook her head. Ace, on the other hand, began to feel his face light up. As for the other two office workers… King and Tiz’s ears perked up. They didn’t hesitate to join right into the conversation as Machina began his storytelling.
“They were seated right next to each other. I’m not going to drop their names for the sake of patient privacy, but a year ago, when Ace was still green, he had to personally call in one of his clients into the room.”
The newly-hired staff, King, deeply hummed. “Where were you and Tiz?”
“We were busy,” the young lady murmured in her usual whisper-like tone. “It was a full-house that day.”
“Precisely,” Machina pointed up in the air. “But this doctor decided to let a silly remark slip out of his mouth.”
“MACHINA.”
“He said, ‘ Oh, are you both wives? She can come in too. ‘ “
“Oh my gosh…” Rem widened her eyes and turned to Ace. Ace immediately turned his head while a deep shade of red discolored his cheeks. “Why would you say that?”
“He thought he could get friendly with the patient, but it turns out that he embarrassed them both in front of everyone.” Suddenly, Machina broke out laughing, his hands resting on his stomach as he threw his head up. “Hahaha! I… I couldn’t believe it! Sice— I mean, one of the patients immediately punched him in the gut moments later when it was her turn after Sev— the patient was finished!”
“Sounds like one heck of a scene.”
“It was, King! It was! And you want to know what the best part was?”
“What?” Rem and King collectively questioned. The doctor’s assistant could hardly contain his laughter and blurted, “They actually got together afterward! They’re married now!”
“WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!”
As Machina was trying to keep himself from falling apart, Tiz shook her head. “I’m surprised they even invited us…” she continued to mumble under her breath as she resumed her work. It was at this point when Ace motioned for Rem to leave, much to her dismay. Then again, just like her with the session, Ace wanted to save whatever dignity he had left for the student.
After sending their farewells and entering the office’s elevator, Rem could hear a loud slap from the background. It was immediately accompanied by a loud “Ow!” from Machina right when the elevator’s metallic doors closed shut. Sweat flew from Rem’s head as she muttered, “Lover’s quarrel.”
-----
The sky had drastically darkened since her time inside of the medical office. Since she was a student, most of her classes were during the day, which left her available during the late evenings for other plans. Standing right outside of the tall building, Rem adjusted her jacket’s collar and loudly exhaled. A thin, cool mist puffed from her mouth as the rain continued to pour upon the city.
‘ Drats, it’s raining hard. ‘
Unfortunately, she had forgotten her umbrella. Then again, she had no one to blame but herself for this. Rem had every opportunity to check her smartphone and determine the upcoming weather. Today was the day she chose not to. The student dug her hands into her pockets, shook her head, grumbled under her breath, and proceeded to walk back to her dormitory. She might as well bear with the wet weather.
Or so it seems. Neon lights colored the wet pavements, Rem finding herself standing in front of a bar. It was located at the corner of the block by her residence. However, despite its convenient location near the school-owned dormitories, plenty of other bars and shops nearby concealed its existence almost entirely. Many customers have passed by this lone bar in favor of others for this very reason. If anything, it might as well not exist.
“…”
She wasn’t sure what drove her to stay out later than necessary, but… perhaps it’s because of the discomforting sensation that nags her about these memories that don’t belong to her. At least to the Rem here right now. The Rem that had nothing to do with fighting or participating in any sort of war. She huffed. Besides, it was a young Friday night and, rather than scuttle to the safety of her bedroom, there was a temptation to grab a couple of drinks. The stress was getting to her head, and she needed a moment for herself.
“…”
Rem lowered her head. She contemplated, but not for long. Head still down, the young student entered the bar that is named “Orience.”
A bell softly rang out to signal its newest customer with a single push of the door. Darkness shrouded Rem’s vision upon taking a step into the drunken abyss, save it for the gentle orange lamps that emitted throughout the premise. She blinked a couple of times until her sight adjusted. The aspiring journalist scanned her surroundings.
No one. Absolutely no one. She slowly took a seat at the bar, her hands brushing the smooth wooden countertop. (Surprising how it isn’t dusty with the lack of customers.) Another glance around and still no sign of a visitor. Could it be that Rem came in during the slowest time of the night?
Her red eyes flickered past the counter. Countless bottles of varying sizes, colors, and types of drinks were present to the clients. Unlike the numerous bars nearby that she frequents, this bar didn’t have an impressive number of wines to choose from. It didn’t help that all of the selections had brands and names she’s never heard of.
‘ Could they be imported? ‘
Rem tapped her finger in response to the limited selection. Not that she was picky in the first place anyhow. She skimmed around once more. Aside from the bottles and simplistic decorations, there was still no one behind the counter.
“Um…”
Rem didn’t have to voice her concern for long as two individuals walked up from the basement to her left. Rather loudly, that is, with the stomping from one particular staff. Bright white light emitted from the corner of the room as they made it ground level. A male with a scar over his nose loudly complained and swung the mop in the air as a female by his side tried to dodge his reckless swings.
“Just what does Mother think!?” he barked. “Why do I have to clean up the guy’s mess!?”
“I think you’re more suited for the job…” the young lady shook her head. “Nine, you’re also a guy. I can’t enter the male’s restroom in the first place.”
“Ugh, what are ya gonna do without me then, huh? You know you gotta clean up some mess too from the men’s side.”
“I’ll think about it when the time comes.”
“Oh yeah? Look, if you ain’t a cutie and someone I treat like a little sister, Deuce, then I would’ve outright rejected ya—”
Deuce immediately bopped his arm and silenced him. Then, without giving him a chance to recover, ushered him to the direction where the restrooms are located. His voiced complaints were audible, yet she ignored him. It wasn’t long until the brunette hurried over to the counter and greeted their only customer.
“Welcome to Orience,” the petite female smiled. She started to clean her hand at the nearby sink as she continued, “What can I get for you?”
That… was quite a switch. Rem had witnessed their banters and now faced a polite version of the bartender. At least she’s finally getting some service. The college student tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and parted her lips. When her eyes laid upon the brunette once again, Rem felt her heart nearly skip a beat, the inside of her mouth immediately becoming dry.
“You…”
“?”
Rem had to hold herself back from grabbing the bartender’s hands. Instead, she bit on her lower lip and dryly swallowed. The memories that haunt her of another life… of another Rem… She remembered. There was another person that was always by her side in them. From another life where she was a cadet, there was a person that looked exactly like this bartender. They were strikingly similar in a physical and vocal sense. Rem curled her hands into fists. Then, in a frail voice, asked,
“Tell me… What is your name…?”
The brunette blinked.
“Call me Deuce.”
Heartbeat.
The same name.
It was the same exact name.
Deuce…
Deuce.
Rem felt cold sweat running down the side of her face. Another memory was triggered with the same Rem sitting in the cafeteria. By her side, a girl named Deuce conversed with the black magus, her hands clasped together in cheery disposition. The conversations were riddled with plenty of gossips and of happier tales for a brighter future. They would eventually intertwine their fingers and hold each other’s hand, the flutist’s soft palm impressed upon the other’s. It was a blissful moment that managed to wiggle its way into the present Rem.
“Miss? Are you okay?”
The college student jerked from instinct. When she raised her eyes, she saw the female bartender again. Between the two women, there was a drink. Rem didn’t have to open her mouth to get her answer. Deuce motioned at the alcoholic beverage.
“Sazerac just for you.” Rem nearly choked from her own spit. Sazerac…? That’s a terribly expensive drink around this area! It might be cheaper elsewhere, but from this part of the city, the price for most alcoholic beverages can skyrocket by tenfold. She felt her fingers grow cold and numb in a desperate attempt to dig into her purse. Her reaction elicited an amused giggle from the worker. Deuce reached out to tap on Rem’s trembling arm. “It’s on the house.”
“…” Rem narrowed her eyes. “A-Are… you sure your boss is okay with this…?”
“It’s okay if I’m the one paying it.”
That was rather nice of the bartender. It was a bit sudden, but if it’s free, how could Rem refuse? Not to mention that it was already made by Deuce. The aspiring journalist weakly smiled and brought the drink close to her.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it,” Deuce returned a similar feature. “I wanted to turn your frown upside down. It doesn’t look good on your beautiful face.”
“?!”
Rem nearly spat out the beverage. She struggled to keep a coughing fit from erupting and smoothed her throat downward a few times with fast motions. Did the bartender just compliment her on her looks? It seems abnormally familiar as if a good friend or lover uttered those words to her. Heat crawled onto Rem’s cheeks as the ice clattered in the held glass cup. It appears that the reaction was amusing to Deuce, the aproned worker stifling her laughter.
“I apologize if I’ve made you choke. I’ll refrain from saying any more unnecessary remarks.”
Deuce turned her back towards the only customer in Orience and began to organize the glass cups. The sink quietly ran its water, an occasional clang and clatter produced from the washing of said cups. Rem kept a steady observation of the brunette as she attended to her responsibilities. Times when their eyes met caused Deuce to flash a smile in her direction. This made Rem grumble even more under her breath as she tipped the cup up.
‘ She’s cute… ‘
Despite the memories that pointed out Deuce’s identity and her role in the other world, their exchanges were brief and held almost no weight. The student hardly proposed topics to talk about. The bartender was kept busy and tried to engage in small talks. A bit of time had passed and Deuce would offer a wide variety of drinks based on Rem’s requests. Bubbly drinks, Feminine drinks, Classy drinks, and Strong drinks. Deuce managed to sate the female’s taste buds from the provided categories.
Of course, that came at a cost. Rem was beginning to get drunk, her eyelids starting to flutter here and there, and the glow that emits from her cheeks. Deuce allowed an amused huff to slip past her lips when she ushered a glass of water to the student.
“Why is it that no one comes to this bar?” Rem asked after taking another sip from her water. “None of my classmates ever talk about it. Heck, not even Trey talks about it.”
“It’s because of the expensive products we have in store.”
“Expensive? Like… how expensive?”
“Hm… a few hundred dollars.”
“What?!”
Deuce chuckled and stored one of the wine bottles back to its original place. “That’s why none of your friends speak about this place. We only attract customers rich enough to afford a glass.”
“What’s the cheapest drink you got?”
“Hm… the Draft Beer, but we charge it at 50 bucks.”
“Why is it so expensive still?”
“I would like to say that it’s because we make everything from scratch and used the best ingredients we can import it from, but…” The brunette shrugged her shoulders. “It would be best to ask Mother about it.”
“Mother?” Rem raised a brow. “Your mom owns this place?”
Deuce immediately waved her hand and shook her head. “No, that’s just how we call our boss here. Her real name is Arecia Al-Rashia.”
“Why the title Mother then?”
“Hm…” she finally leaned an elbow on the counter and hummed. “Probably because she looks after both Nine and I when we were in middle school.”
“Did something happen to your family?”
“They died.”
“Oh…” Even in her drunken state, Rem cursed at herself for asking an insensitive question. “I’m sorry about that. I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve gotten over it. Not that I remember much about them anyway.”
The topic of Deuce’s family immediately dropped and was switched with senseless conversations again. They were weightless. But, thanks to Rem’s intoxicated state, the aspiring journalist poured out more of her feelings than she would’ve to a bartender.
“You ever got memories that you’ve never experienced before?”
“No, I haven’t. Did you?”
“Yeah… Yeah, I got them. I have too many of them, actually.”
“If it helps, I can listen to your story.”
And Rem did. She opened up about everything from her lingering memories. The memories of being in a war against the Milites Empire, having lost her parents, being severely ill in the fantasy world, and many more. Rem even blurted out about how she didn’t feel like it was unnatural. Rather, those repressed memories acted as if they were a part of her all along. It was as if she actually underwent these situations in a past life.
The student laid on her arms with a drowsy expression. When she glanced at the bartender, she felt the corner of her lips curl upward.
“You know, you’re nice, Deuce.”
“?”
“You didn’t judge me for saying all of this.”
Deuce had gotten herself a drink of her own and lightly sipped on the Cosmopolitan. The young woman smiled and looked downward.
“What kind of bartender would I be if I didn’t hear out my clients? There are many reasons as to why people would come here and drink. The closest person they can trust in is the bartender themselves to dump their woos and woes.”
“I doubt any of them would say something as crazy as I did, right?”
“You’d be surprised,” the brunette laughed. “One time, I had an office worker who came in and told me that he was the chosen one to save the world from extinction.”
“How did that go?”
“He got arrested shortly afterward for disturbing the general public.”
“Yikes. That didn’t work out well for him.”
“I didn’t…”
The laughter continued. However, their light-hearted atmosphere eventually dissipated when Rem abruptly stood up from her stool. She leaned against the counter and cupped the bartender’s face. This took Deuce by surprise and even more so when Rem whispered,
“Did I ever tell you that the Rem in my memories fell in love with a Deuce like you?”
“Fweh?!”
Deuce felt beads of sweat fly out of her head as her client’s thumbs tenderly rubbed her cheeks. This was getting out of character, this was getting out of character, this was getting out of character! Usually, the young staff would shoot an uppercut to the drunkard and send them spiraling away. All it took was a single punch to the jaw. If it didn’t work, there was always Nine or Mother Arecia that she could call. Their methods were far harsher than hers… which sometimes led to the customer(s) in dire need of an ER visit at the hospital. She squirmed in Rem’s grasps, yet could not bring herself to hit the student.
It wasn’t because she was a girl. Deuce had smacked plenty of women that dared to hit on her too. Why couldn’t she do so with this one?
She was frozen in spot, the heat rising to the top of her head, Rem’s face way too close to hers. Deuce’s sight would find itself staring at the journalist’s lips. Those smooth, pink flesh that seems enticing upon further examination. The brunette’s mouth became dry as Rem mumbled,
“It feels like we were fated to see each other again… and fall in love.”
And… thankfully, Rem was knocked unconscious by a sleeping spell. Deuce, maintaining the woman’s weight, slowly lowered her customer’s upper body to the counter. A step back showed a student peacefully lulled into a dreamlike realm.
“…”
It was only the first night and first time they’ve met, yet here they are, an encounter that Deuce has yet to ever face with. She lightly scratched her own cheek.
‘ Great… What should I do now? ‘
“GOD, that was HORRIBLE.” Nine’s voice boomed in the background, and it only got louder once he popped out of the restroom. His attires were slightly stained with unknown yellow substances and the smell had clung to parts of his uniform. Resentment scrawled all over his face as he marched over to Deuce. “PLEASE, let’s not serve that customer anymore. He really did a number on the toilet.”
He didn’t get too far with his rambles the instant he spotted the sleeping Rem. Both of his brows were raised at the peculiar sight.
“Yo… she’s sleeping?”
“Yep.”
“Um, don’t you think you should be waking her up?”
“Doesn’t seem like she will.”
“Have you tried?”
“No, but I could tell. She’s not even waking up to your stench.”
“Ugh… I really need to take a shower in the basement… You think Mother will let me use it?”
“I think you have no choice but to do so. Mother down there won’t be pleased with you making her office smell too.”
“Right… Anyway, we should close up the shop soon,” he motioned with the tainted mop. “Not like we’ll be getting any more customers after this one.”
Nine left the two females alone by the bar. Now that they were alone, Deuce sighed.
‘ I can’t just leave you here… ‘ A quick search through Rem’s purse for an ID showed the address to her dormitory. Deuce immediately recognized it thanks to the close proximity from this bar and the building structure. Another glance was spared at the dozed student. The brunette stiffened her lips. ‘ Guess I can take her back home. I… still have some questions I have for her, but that could be for tomorrow. ‘
Their first encounter was definitely that of a strange one, but it planted a seed of interest for Deuce. Though Rem had battled with the memories of her past life or alternate version, this was a first for the bartender. The least she could do is learn more about Rem and discover what she meant by having fallen for her.

Imagine like
During the alternate end of type 0, Kurasame takes Class Zero on this field trip
And during the whole entire trip Machina is such a fucking disaster with Ace, he can't compute, how does a cutie like Ace exist it's just not fair
And like, the rest of Class Zero obviously know about this damn crush. Cue Cinque laughing her ass off and making fun of Machina for being a mess, Rem is highkey concerned but at the same time lowkey amused, and Deuce is that sweetie who keeps comforting Machina
And Ace is legit so clueless, he has no idea what's goin on he just wants to see some damn chocobos but here comes Machina, tripping over his own damn feet and trying to flirt with some dumb pick up lines suggested by Jack and Eight

Her eyes barely see the floor, rarely slouches but won’t hesitate to ‘relax’ when in the presence of people close to her scars. only in the palm of her hands, which are hard to find unless paying close attention, the product of hours of gardening tattoos.  none most noticeable features. her striking resemblance with her late mother when Naomi was around her age is most likely the thing that stands out the most, along with her overall weak physiognomy. People who have no knowledge of her social status might think she’s from the middle class by the way she dresses, even if she’s of high society
CHILDHOOD.
place of birth.  Syrup Village, East Blue // Grenoble, France hometown.  Syrup Village, East Blue // Birmingham, England birth weight / height.  5 lbs / 17 inches manner of birth.  natural birth first words. ‘Der‘, from either father or mother siblings.  none parents. her father, Kazuo, and mother, Naomi, both deceased shortly after Kaya turned 16. Her butler/guardian, Merry has been taking care of her since she was born, and has adopted a father-like role parental involvement. despite the fact that her parents were present in the vast majority of her life, their occupations would keep them busy for long periods of time, in which they traveled far from home to make their business all over the world, leaving Kaya in the care of Merry and the servants. Every time they were back, however, her father would spend most of his time with Kaya to make up for his absence. As for her mother, their relationship was never the sweetest one, but Kaya still loved them both dearly, seeing how much their deaths affected both her physical and mental health to the point where she was left bedridden for a year
ADULT LIFE.

SEX & ROMANCE.
sexual orientation.  demisexual romantic orientation. demiromantic preferred emotional role.  submissive | dominant | switch |  unsure(??) preferred sexual role.  submissive  |  dominant  |  switch |  sex-repulsed libido. low/below average turn on’s. as of right now, she has never explored her body for other than searching for injuries inflicted by x or y reasons, so she’s absolutely clueless as to what gets her going. Overall, tenderness seems to do the trick. Soft caresses that linger for more than intended. Worship. Basic stimulation that doesn’t cross the line of indecency/subtlety turn off’s. aggressiveness, degradation, pain, vulgarity. Being pushed/forced to say yes to something.  love language. for someone who dedicates the majority of her time in her studies, spending time together can be difficult, but it’s what she tends to appreciate the most, even if it means just being in the same space while each other do their own thing. Granted, she will go the extra mile and finish sooner to dedicate her s/o some well-deserved attention, so postponed activities or little to no time spent with her s/o is definitely hurtful -even more than forgetting to get her something for her birthday. Acts of service are a close second, as she will help out in whatever she can to make their life a little easier —if there’s something they have to do but don’t feel like doing it, she will do it for them (as long as it doesn’t turn out a bad habit, clearly), or she’ll even do something with/for them knowing she doesn’t particularly enjoy it to show interest in her partner’s likes. If her partner shows a liking for receiving gifts, she’ll absolutely spoil them with their favorites. She enjoys pleasing her partner overall and doing things that will cheer them up/make them happy/ensure their well-being. relationship tendencies. while it isn’t something she takes pride in, she’s kindly rejected any and all love confessions because of her lack of interest in dating someone when she’s so focused in studying at the moment. that doesn’t mean she hasn’t thought about it, but the idea of meeting someone who won’t be as understanding about her preference of not dropping her pace keeps her from even trying. As the saying goes, she’s realized (little by little) that she could be attracted to those who are different from her in terms of personality, though she’s too shy to say it aloud. People regularly don’t stick in her mind for their appearance, but they do for their actions whether good or bad. In terms of friendship, she usually gives everyone a chance, and is capable of forgiving and giving second opportunities if she feels like the person in cuestion deserves it.
Granted, she won’t always be the sunshine she regularly is, but for her S/O she’s willing to go the EXTRA mile and take better care of her mental health so that she can be someone they can rely on. A little playful, she might play innocent, harmless pranks to get a laugh out of them, but won’t hesitate to drop it all altogether if by any reason her S/O is hurt. Obviously, since she’s studying medicine, she’ll pamper them when they get sick or hurt, going as far as kissing their wounds in hopes of making them feel better.
MISCELLANEOUS.
character’s theme song. one day in august - Marc Teichert hobbies to pass the time.  studying, listening to stories, gardening, solving crossword puzzles, flower arrangement to its most basic level, playing with her cat, long walks by the shore, sailing mental illnesses. depression. Has a strong spirit that won’t give up easily. vulnerabilities. her physical strength could never match with her mental one, so she’s someone who needs protection, whether she likes it or not. Outright refuses to learn any self-defense techniques as she is heavily against violence. Her trusting nature makes her an easy target. While not the smallest person, she’s definitely easy to handle/carry around. Self-sacrificial to a point.

Gone (Ace x Kurasame!sister reader)
Requested?: No
Tumblr media
(gif not mine)
Your P.O.V.
You’re walking through the hall, keeping an eye out for the rest of the Imperial Troopers that you had heard over the intercom that were coming.
“Ace, there is still no sight on any of the troopers.” You say to him
“Alright, they might be confused as of where we are.” He says
You nod as you take another sweep of the room when you hear your COMM start to buzz.
“We need to keep moving.” King says
“Agreed, but that isn’t always easy.” You start, looking through your bag for a potion
“When did you get hit and not tell us?” Ace asks
“The last fight.” You explain “We needed to keep moving, so it wasn’t a big deal till we got to a safe room.”
“Y/N, if you had died, that would’ve been on us.” Ace starts
“Ace, I promise, I’m fine. I didn’t die.” You start “Now let’s get on with this mission.”
They both agree with little hesitation then start to walk out as you follow behind them when something hits the back of your knee and takes you to the floor.
You look up and see Ace and King turning sharply around to look back at you when you throw a wall up before they can send anything at you guys.
“Go!” You yell
Ace’s P.O.V.
I walk into the Militesi capital, looking around as the others are behind me.
“Wait, if we’re in a ceasefire, then we should get Y/N back!” Machina yells from towards the back
“We’ll have to talk to our CO and the Chancellor about that.” Trey says
“The CO is her brother for hell’s sake.” Cater says
“Doesn’t always mean anything.” King points out
“We better get her back, yo.” Nine says “She’s one of our best fighter’s.”
“Calm down cadets, we’ll get her back. I’ll make sure of it.” The chancellor interrupts
I look around the room and see the chancellor, the commandant, and Y/N’s brother, Kurasame.
“How do we know for sure?” I ask
“Because of the ceasefire. In order for us to keep our part of the ceasefire, they have to let her come home with us.” Kurasame says
Kurasame’s P.O.V.
“Before we discuss any further detail, release Y/N Susaya.” I say
Qator motions for some men to leave the room as he looks between myself and the chancellor.
“We still need to wait for the Queen of Concordia.” The chancellor says “But yes, your sister is first priority.”
“Oh this red demon is also your sister Kurasame.” Qator starts
“If you dare touch her, you’ll regret it Qator, Despite this ceasefire.” I growl
“Like you would be able to keep up with me in a fight.” He laughs
“I may not be able to, but I know for my cadets will be able to keep up with you.” I say, crossing my arms
I hear footsteps come towards the door and I look over.
I see Y/N holding her arms close to her body as she keeps looking around, cuts and bruises all over her body. Her jacket almost completely destroyed with burns all over it. I can see her body visibly shaking.
I start to take my jacket off and put it around her shoulders.
“You aren’t leaving my side for awhile. I don’t need another scare like that.” I say
“Kurasame, I’m fine.” She says, grabbing the sides of the jacket
“Well you should head out to the lobby. The other’s are waiting.” I whisper as I glance over at Qator
She nods as she just looks at me then to the jacket and back at me. I give her a slight nod as she heads towards the door.
Your P.O.V.
You walk out of the room, still holding onto your brother’s jacket, holding it as close to your body as you can.
“Y/N!” Rem yells
“Rem.” You smile
“They let you go?” Queen asks
“Yeah. Kurasame wasn’t going to let anyone discuss the details of the ceasefire until they had released me.” You start to explain
“And he actually gave you his jacket?” Jack asks
“Yeah, if you were to see mine before this, you would understand my bad shape.” You say
“Do you need a potion?” Deuce asks
“It might be nice.” You start
She goes to hand you one when all of a sudden she freezes and turns slightly. You look where she is looking and you see the Queen of Concordia.
You step next to Ace and kneel down, showing your respect.
-~-
You see as the commandant calls Machina out of the room and you stand up, slowly following them.
You listen to the commandant start to talk to him about the liberation. You sigh as you lean against the door before setting your hand on the handle.
“They basically killed your brother. He wasn’t even supposed to be on that mission.” The commandant says
You open the door and look between the two as they just stare at you.
“Commandant...” You greet “Machina...”
“Y/N...” He greets in almost a growl
“Susaya.” The commandant starts
“First off, Commandant Suzuhisa, why are you telling Machina something that is supposed to be staying a secret?” You start, crossing your arms
“Why are you spying on us?” He questions back
“I was coming to talk to Machina about something that I’ve been meaning to tell him.” You start “When I saw you pull him aside and give the rest of the class a disapproving look.”
He looks at the ground and you watch as Machina tenses up.
You turn towards Machina, shaking your head.
“We didn’t kill your brother, Militesi did, so don’t you dare go and start blaming us in his death.” You start, “He willingly helped us through out the entire liberation. He wanted to be as much help as he could. And trust me when I say this, I hated it when he had to go to the front lines.”
“Then why did you let him go alone?!” Machina yells
“I had my orders, he had his!” You yell
“This is what I mean by you guys don’t care who gets hurt as long as you get a mission done.” He starts
“Don’t you dare say that, because if we didn’t care then why would you all have insisted that I be returned.” You start “If they didn’t care, I wouldn’t be here now. If Ace and King didn’t care, they wouldn’t have tried to rescue me despite our orders.”
He looks at you as you look between the two before you shake your head and walk back into the room with the others.
-~-
You’re walking around Militesi, Kurasame’s jacket still around you shoulders as you walk with Ace.
“Is it just me or is it weird that they are keeping us here instead of sending us back to Rubrum?” You ask
“We all found that weird, but we aren’t going to question it too much so they don’t think we are ungrateful.” Ace starts, taking your hand, stopping your guys walk “Why did you let them take you?”
“It got you guys out without anymore damage.” You say, looking down at your hands
“Well it looks like you gave them one hell of a fight.” He laughs, tracing one of the many cuts on your face
“Sure did. Now I can’t wait to get the hell out of here.” You laugh
“Which will be hopefully soon.” He says with a smile
-~-
You’re running through the hall, avoiding as many of the troopers as you before you absolutely have to fight.
“Ace, I’m not going to make it.” You start
“You’ll be fine.” He says, grabbing your hand a pulling you into a side room
-~-
You watch from behind Ace as Deuce steps in front of Ace, ready to take the dragon head on.
“Deuce...” You start
You watch as the dragon hears the order and jumps over them and heads back towards the lady.
You take a deep breathe and look around as you see Nine and the others with Rem and Machina.
“We need to get out of here.” You start
“I’ll help you with that, but this will be the only time I help you. The next time we meet, it will be as enemies.” She says
-~-
You are sitting around the camp fire with Ace by your side. He’s tracing shapes into the back of your hand.
“I’m worried about them.” You say
“I know, but they are strong.” He starts
You nod as you look around the forest.
“I still can’t believe the Dominion would sacrifice us like that. You start
You hear the door open and you look around and see Machina and Rem start to come out. You stand up, looking at those two.
“Glad you’re awake.” You say
“What even happened?” Machina ask
“A lot.” You start
-~-
You watch as Machina starts twisting in a circle looking at all of you as he just keeps going off about his brother.
“Machina I told you earlier. It wasn’t us that killed him.” You start
“Liars, he wasn’t even supposed to be around on the day of the liberation.” He starts
You hear Queen say something then you watch as Machina walks away.
You sigh as you watch Rem go after him.
You walk the opposite direction as you start to mess with the buttons on the jacket you’re wearing.
“Y/N, you need some sleep. Don’t worry about Machina.” He says
You nod as you head to the house, laying down when you can.
“I’ll wake you up if you need anything.” Ace says as he sets his hand on your forehead, placing a kiss to your temple

Talking about the fem!ignis x gladio childrens reminded me of you post about ff type-0 post that gladnis have like 3 sons? Lol what if those are like their sons I swear ignis spoil them (just look what happen to noct) and they enjoying camping with their father especially mom's food when they went hunting with gladio and the food was worth the fight. Granpa clarus will cry and swell with pride then he look at iris "when you have children train them like your brother did" n iris is like dad ;A;
I think they had only one; I kept playing and got a better angle of one of them, Nine, and from the hair I think he fits better as Noctis x Ignis’ son, haha! But he could still be Gladnis’ kid if we see him that way. :)
Still, no one can tell me Jack isn’t Gladnis’ love child. Like, he has the hair and he’s a warrior, he’s def. their child. I HATE playing with him because he’s so slow and heavy, but he’s who looks most like them, dammit.
Deuce and Rem could also be Gladnis’ daughters if we see them that way, it could work too.
So two girls and a boy, yay for Amicitia Scientia family! Hahaha!
AMICITIA-SCIENTIA FAMILY CAMPING.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Have all my Yes, anon

Final Fantasy Record Keeper Holy-Weak Dark Odin Fight
The Dark Odin fights in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) mobile game are quest level 500. So far, I’ve been able to defeat fire-weak Dark Odin and dark-weak Dark Odin.
Tumblr media
This gave me 2 Black-Armored Echoes accessories. This accessory adds moderate resistance to all elements.
In order to get more of these accessories, which would help me make more space in my inventory, I needed to defeat more Dark Odins.
The next Dark Odin fight that I decided to tackle was the holy-weak one. My Magicite deck and passives consisted of the following:
Lakshmi (VI) - Dampen Dark Level 10 and Health Boon Level 5
Madeen (IX) - Healing Boon Level 15 and Health Boon Level 5
Madeen (IX) - 2 Mind Boon Level 16
Phoenix (VI) - Spell Ward Level 5 and Blade Ward Level 8
Quetzalcoatl (VIII) - Dampen Water and Health Boon Level 5
My team was:
Rem Tokimiya from Final Fantasy Type-0
full Record Board
100 Magia in mind stat and 57 Magia in holy attack stat
Synchro Arcane Soul Break (SASB), Saintly Huntcraft
Awakened Arcane Soul Break (AASB), Seraphim Strike
Arcane Overstrike Soul Break (AOSB), Saintly Dagger Toss
Ultra Soul Break 1 (USB1), Manalchemy
Overstrike Soul Break (OSB), Cleansing Flame
Glint+ Soul Break (G+), Tenacious Stand
Legend Materia Relic 2 (LMR2), Saint’s Fire
LMR1, Gentle Spirit
equipped with Hero Ability (also known as Unique Ability), Siphon Sphere, and Holyja
Earnest Intentions Record Materia - deal much more white magic damage
Cait Sith from Final Fantasy VII
partial Record Board - skipped the tiles that increase his magic stat
56 Magia in mind stat and 60 Magia in HP stat
AASB, Hit the Jackpot
USB1, Danger Dice
USB2, Random Summon?
G+, Planetary Protector
Super Soul Break 1 (SSB1), Moogle Dance
equipped with Passionate Salsa and Goddess’s Paean
Battleforged Record Materia - Soul Break gauge fills much more when using attack or abilities
Tumblr media
Yuna from Final Fantasy X
partial Record Board - just got the ones that increase her HP, Resistance, and Defense
she has 102 Magia points but forgot to give them to her. Whoops
AOSB, Grand Summon Dragonlord
USB1, Song for Spira
Glint Soul Break 2 (G2), Bright Prospects
Chain Soul Break (CSB), Fanciful Ballad
equipped with De’Dia and De’Diaja
Dr. Mog’s Teachings Record Materia - begin dungeons with 2 Soul Break charges
Tyro from Final Fantasy Record Keeper
partial Record Board - got the HP ones and the ones that increased his speed and reduced the delay of his actions
he has 100 Magia in the HP stat, 48 Magia in the Resistance stat, and 48 Magia in the Defense stat
AASB, Fantasy Grimoire Vol. I
AOSB3, Triple Phase
USB4, Arbiter’s Tome
USB3, Divine Veil Grimoire
USB1, Warder’s Apocrypha
G, Purifying Grimoire
Burst Soul Break (BSB), Keeper’s Tome
Unique Soul Break 2, Sentinel’s Grimoire
LMR1, Archival Secrets
equipped with Wrath and Entrust
Ace Striker Record Materia - same effect as Battleforged
Deuce from Final Fantasy Type-0
partial Record Board - got the titles that increase her HP and Mind stats and a few of the ones that increase her Defense and Resistance stats
has 100 Magia in the mind stat
AASB, Communal Harmony
USB3, Vivace
G+, Con Brio
equipped with Ultra Cure and Allegro con Moto
Mako Might Record Materia - same effect as Dr. Mog’s Teachings
Tumblr media
Rem Tokimiya from Final Fantasy Type-0 was my main and only DPS for this fight. Initially, had her spam Holyja to build up her gauges.
Tyro from Final Fantasy Record Keeper helped Rem get to 4 bars faster by Entrusting his bars to her. Once Rem has 4 bars, I used her G+, Sync, and AASB then spammed her HA.
Cait Sith from Final Fantasy VII (#ad) alternated between his 2 equipped abilities. But mostly, had him spam Paean to buff Rem’s mind stat. Cast his AASB at around the time that Rem was activating her own.
Tumblr media
Deuce from Final Fantasy Type-0 spammed Allegro con Moto. Only used Ultra Cure when a char got debuffed. Used her Ultra when she had enough gauges to do so.
Yuna from Final Fantasy X was only really here because she has a holy Chain Soul Break. Had her spamming De’Diaja to imperil the holy element.
Rem’s really freaking good, especially once she’s buffed to the high heavens by her allies. She dealt so much damage.
It was really awesome how she basically took holy-weak Dark Odin down on her own.
Managed to get the win on my very first try. And this was the first Dark Odin fight that I was able to sub-30. Got the clear in 24.53 seconds.
Conclusion
So what about you? Have you tried fighting against holy-weak Dark Odin yet? How did it go? What team did you use? What do you think about this fight? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper Record’s End Relic Draw Banner Part 1
The Record’s End Relic Draw banner just became available in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) mobile game.
Tumblr media
Each player will get 5 Record’s End Relic Draw Tickets at the start of the event. Then you can get 1 more each day you log on to the game until the campaign ends.
These tickets can be used to pull on the Record’s End Relic Draw banner. You get 10 items per pull and each draw is guaranteed to give you at least one 6-star or higher relic.
The Record’s End Relic Draw banner came a while or so after Final Fantasy Record Keeper announced that it was gonna end its service on September 29, 2022. I talk more about that in another post.
Tumblr media
I’m really glad we’re getting these free draws because I want to finish as much of FFRK’s content as I can before the game ends.
I just wish they’d adjusted the rates a bit or something and/or given us more tickets for more free draws. I mean, why not, right? After all, the game’s ending already.
At least this time we’re actually guaranteed to get at least one 6-star item. Because the norm is to only guarantee that we’ll get at least one 5-star unless a banner literally has no 5-stars.
The problem is that 5-stars have been horribly powercrept and outdated by now. Heck, some of the 6-stars and 7-stars aren’t all good either.
Also, this banner has like every single relic that’s available in FFRK so the pool is really bloated and the chances of getting something good and useful are slim to none.
Anyway, decided that I’ll only bother to take screenshots of the results of these pulls if I actually get something that could be classified as either good, useful, or interesting, or something.
Tumblr media
One ticket gave me a disco orb then Dr. Mog appeared and turned it into a 7-star item. Got this gun that turned out to be the Synchro Arcane Soul Break (SASB) of King from Final Fantasy Type-0.
Tumblr media
It’s really nice to see a Sync and a new one at that but this is my first BDL relic for King so I don’t know how useful this is going to be.
Honestly, I wish I’d gotten Cater’s (from Final Fantasy Type-0) Sync instead (she uses guns as a weapon too) because I already have her Awakened Arcane Soul Break (AASB).
Getting Cater’s Sync might help me to sub-30 the Final Fantasy Type-0 Dragonking fight. If I can get King’s Awakening, then he can replace Cater on my Type-0 realm team. But right now, I’m not sure he’s gonna be better than Cater.
Even with only 1 BDL relic, at least Cater can help imperil the fire element for Ace from Final Fantasy Type-0. He’s my DPS for the Dragonking fight alongside Rem Tokimiya from Final Fantasy Type-0.
Tumblr media
Cater can also Entrust her gauges to Deuce from Final Fantasy Type-0, my healer. So even if Cater’s damage is basically non-existent, at least she can still be of use in other ways. Not sure the same can be said for King.
Another ticket gave me 3 items. One was a dupe Legend Materia Relic (LMR) for a Final Fantasy XI char. Was so disappointed by this dupe that I didn’t bother checking exactly who it belonged to. It didn’t matter anyway.
At least the other 2 items I got were new. They were both 7-stars but their usefulness is debatable.
The first 7-star was a hat that turned out to be the Limit Break Overstrike (LBO) of Noel Kreiss from Final Fantasy XIII (#ad).
Tumblr media
This is an example of a 7-star that’s useless. Sure, it does have its uses but there’s no way this is better than a Sync or Dual Awakening Soul Break (DASB) or even a 6-star Awakening. It only really deals damage as opposed to Syncs and the like who also give buffs and other good effects that last for several seconds.
Don’t have a single BDL relic for Noel, making this LBO of his even more useless.
The second 7-star I got was a spear that I initially thought belonged to Kain Highwind from Final Fantasy IV just because he’s a char I know who uses spears.
It was only when I got to the draw results screen that I found out that I just got the True Arcane Soul Break (TASB) or Arcane Dyad Soul Break (ADSB) of Kimahri Ronso from Final Fantasy X.
Tumblr media
TASBs are way more useful than LBOs but even they are pretty pointless to have if you have nothing else for the char they belong to. Thankfully, I actually have Kimahri’s Sync and his AASB is Lensable so I’m pretty pleased to have been able to obtain his TASB.
Tumblr media
Not sure Kimahri has a place on my physical water elemental team, but he’s likely to be a part of my Final Fantasy X realm team unless I get better FF10 relics.
Another ticket gave me two 6-stars. Was really pleased when I saw those 2 disco orbs but that quickly turned into disappointment when the items revealed themselves.
Tumblr media
One of the 6-stars I got was a new Ultra Soul Break (USB) for Haurchefant Greystone from Final Fantasy XIV. This is like my first relic for him so meh. The other 6-star I got was a dupe of one of Vivi Ornitier’s Ultras. Also meh.
The only Ultras I still use are the ones that belong to healers. DPS like Vivi will never use their Ultras anymore because they’ll be too busy casting their BDL relics like Syncs and Awakenings.
In short, hate the results of this draw. It doesn’t help that pretty much most, if not all, Ultras (and LMRs and Bursts and such) have long since been available for exchange in the The Record Lab.
So if I really need an Ultra or LMR or something, I can just go to the Lab and use my Anima Lenses to get said relic. Now that the game is ending, there’s no more reason to save my Anima Lenses and other such resources.
Sigh. Really wish I can get Soul Breaks that can actually be of use, that can help me clear some of the endgame content I have yet to do.
Anyway, another ticket gave me 1 disco orb. Then Dr. Mog appeared and turned it into a 7-star. Ended up with this red sword that I didn’t recognize. Was really hoping that this was either a Sync or a Dual though.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, it was neither a Sync nor a Dual. Instead what I got was the Limit Break Overstrike of Ardyn Izunia (Ardyn Lucis Caelum) from Final Fantasy XV.
This is new but - argh! Was so, so frustrated and disappointed when I saw this. Why couldn’t this have been Ardyn’s Sync instead? It seemed like he was trolling me because I somehow have most of his relics, except for his Sync.
Tumblr media
I really wish I have his Sync though because that would definitely make him more usable and useful.
Another ticket gave me 1 disco orb again. Dr. Mog didn’t even bother to show up. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I was soon being greeted by the Soul Break Rank Up! screen.
Tumblr media
Because yes, that’s right. Just ended up getting a dupe of Laguna Loire’s (from Final Fantasy VIII) Awakening. Argh! How utterly infuriating. Why’d this have to happen?
Tumblr media
Another ticket gave me 2 new relics but both were basically useless. The first was a 5-star LMR for a Final Fantasy XI char. As usual, didn’t even bother to check who it belonged to.
Tumblr media
The second was a 7-star dress or robe that turned out to be Porom’s (from Final Fantasy IV) Sync. This is like my first relic for her so can’t use her with just this.
Tumblr media
Another ticket gave me 3 disco orbs but only 1 was useful. Even the usefulness of that one was debatable though.
Tumblr media
2 of the 6-stars I got were dupes. One was an Ultra Soul Break for a Final Fantasy X char. Pretty sure it belongs to either Wakka or Tidus from Final Fanatsy X since the item in question was a blitzball.
The second dupe 6-star was also an Ultra, this time for a Final Fantasy IV char.
The only new relic I got and that could possibly be useful was Noel’s Awakening. At least I now have 1 BDL relic for him. If I could get his Sync from one of these tickets, that’d be really nice.
Tumblr media
Another ticket gave me 2 new relics. One was a 5-star Glint Soul Break for a Final Fantasy V char. Meh.
The second was Edgar Roni Figaro’s (from Final Fantasy VI) Chain Soul Break+ (CSB+) for the poison element.
Tumblr media
I’m always on the lookout for poison tech because I barely have any but, unfortunately, Edgar’s Chain isn’t really useful for me.
First of all, I already have a poison Chain. That Chain’s way better than Edgar’s because Edgar’s Chain can only be used one per fight.
Tumblr media
Then there’s the fact that I don’t even have a single BDL relic for Edgar. How can I bring him to a fight with just this Chain?
In short, this CSB+ is yet another example of a crappy 7-star relic. Ugh. Why can’t I get a useful Sync or Dual from one of these draws?
Another ticket gave me 1 rainbow orb and 3 disco orbs. Then Dr. Mog showed up and turned 2 of the 6-stars into 7-stars so I thought things were finally looking up.
Too bad that wasn’t the case at all. Yup, that’s right. This turned out to be yet another disappointing pull.
Tumblr media
The 5-star was a new Burst Soul Break for a Final Fantasy XIII char. Meh. The 6-star was a new Glint+ Soul Break for a Final Fantasy VIII char. Also meh.
One of the 7-stars was Bartz Klauser’s (from Final Fantasy V) Chain Soul Break+. Ugh. I’m already sick of seeing these one-use Chains. Why do they have to be 7-stars anyway?
Tumblr media
The second 7-star was a dupe of Rinoa Heartilly’s (from Final Fantasy VIII) Sync. Argh! So sick of seeing this weapon. This is like the third or so time that I’ve seen this so it’s now at Rank 5 of 5. Eff this game.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
So what about you? What kind of relics did you get from the Record’s End Relic Draw banner? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

History Repeats Itself (Rem x Deuce, slight Machina x Ace)
Rating: Teen and Up Audience Archive Warning: N/A Words: 4,183 Summary:  After hundreds of years from the great war in Fodlan, a new era of peace has arrived. However, history repeats itself to an extent when it comes to relationships. Machina and Rem find themselves thrust into Garreg Mach Monastery as transferred students from Suzaku Peristylium in Orience, facing their teachers who they learn are from an all-too-familiar background.
Tumblr media
A/N: Eh.... Forgot to upload this up here. Still working on my Edeleth stuff, so for now, enjoy another Rem x Deuce OS! Wanted to pull in the concepts from Fire Emblem: Three Houses and use it with this pairing. Might plan out a longer series with a genuine crossover of these two series.... but I digress.
---
Garreg Mach Monastery is known for its peculiar history. Hundreds of years have passed since the time of the Great War between the three nations in Fodlan. The Adrestian Empire, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and the Leicester Alliance squared off in a vicious conflict that spans roughly five years. Legends of an Ashen Demon and an Adrestian emperor, their actions left marks upon the land. The results? A new era of peace.
However, history is known to repeat itself.
The existence of Crests still exists to this day with discriminations and olden lifestyles rule over the population. Those Who Slither in the Dark are still present, their experimentations and foul play disrupt the country. Civilian unrest rumbles society as political corruption began to unveil itself to the public.
It was never about the pen beating the sword. It was those who wield the sword that decides who would wield the pen.
“Rem? Are you okay?”
Rem Tokimiya blinked. She found Machina Kunagiri staring at her, his concern bubbling right above the surface. The two students were spotted inside the carriage. Having hailed from a respective part of Orience, the Dominion of Rubrum, their travel long and arduous since the early morning, it was no surprise that her childhood friend acts this way. No… Perhaps he asked not about their exhaustive state. She moistened her lip and glanced through the glassed window. Pine trees sprinkled with shades of darkness by the sunset’s orange rays crawled by as the horses continued their throttles. Not far from their destination, the famous monastery stood miles away, its huge structure both inviting and intimidating.
“…I’m okay.”
Dressed in the new school uniform provided by the monastery weeks ahead, the student unconsciously rubbed the back of her hand.
“I’m really okay.”
“Rem…”
Machina extended his hand but stopped halfway. He stiffened his lips. The young boy slowly retracted from Rem and felt an additional weight plop on his shoulders. Machina could not bear to look at his friend’s eyes. Then, under his breath, he whispered,
“I’m sorry.”
After all, he could do nothing but watch the horrors that befell upon her when they were young. The war between the Milites Empire and Dominion of Rubrum wasn’t enough. Those Who Slither in the Dark had strong ties with the Empire’s leaders. How the two managed to interact and align their ideals was a mystery. Not that it mattered to the male student. His jawlines were outlined, Machina gazing through the opposite window.
He witnessed the horrors of their parents dying by the soldiers’ hands. What he did not forget was the horror of watching his friend undergo experimentations to implant a Crest into her body. Cruel experimentation devised to test the hypothesis of a person not only not from nobility, but from another country altogether and their adaptation with the Crests was given the green light by the two communities. Those Who Slither in the Dark wish to rise their power in another country. The Milites Empire hopes to use this to their advantage for the current warring state.
Machina and Rem were two of the many unfortunate souls, and they were the sole survivors of the non-consensual surgeries.
Recounting those days always caused a shudder to run down his spine. He dryly swallowed, his elbow now rested on the carriage’s door, and pressed his chin against his palm. Occasionally, Machina would glance over at Rem. His friend still sat upright, the black magus drumming her fingertips along the uniformed skirt. A cough ripped through her tranquil state. Machina nearly bolted up from his seat as the female covered her mouth, a violent fit shaking her entire figure.
“R-Rem!”
She shook her head in the midst of her hacking. It went away after a few seconds, but not without consequences. Rem leaned back against her seat, breaths fast, the smeared blood present from the corner of her opened lips. Machina immediately took out his navy handkerchief and offered it.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
Stern tonality trickled in his words with hopes of some honesty from Rem. Rem simply nodded after wiping. He chewed his lip, retrieving the soiled cloth, his stares becoming dagger-like.
“Why are you still—”
He stopped himself. Then, his eyes softened and felt tears welt from them. Machina glanced away with a silent grimace. When he spoke no more, the female softly called out to him.
“Machina?”
No response. Rem didn’t push him to speak. A moment of observation told her plenty about his reactions. She stifled a long exhale and reverted her gaze elsewhere.
‘ He’s beating himself up again… ‘
And there was nothing she could do to stop him. (The last time she did, he unintentionally hurt her in the process.) Machina had crawled back to their past once again. Back to the time when they were held prisoners by the two organizations. Outcries and screams echoed in the back of his skull. The knives that plunged into his friend’s arms without anesthetics, the blood transplants, the forceful insertion of a Crest into her chest cavity… Rem was always the one to save him, and she always did. Even now she’s hiding the side effects from the surgeries to alleviate his guilty conscious. The handkerchief trembled in time within his whitened grip. The rest of their rides were basked in utter silence.
-----
Two hours ticked by and nightfall switched with daylight. Stars shone in the clear sky, the flames from lamps flickered in-sync, and the lack of students notified their abnormal arrival. Despite the lonesome arrival, they were greeted by a Gatekeeper. The young man saluted to the two students, his eyes brimming with excitement.
“Greetings, Rem and Machina! I hope your trip from Orience went well.”
“It was,” Rem clasped both of her hands, her smile shining to the security guard. “It was worth the trip.”
“Excellent. I was afraid the both of you would never come since it has gotten late.”
“Don’t be silly,” Machina motioned. “No matter the time of the day, we’ll come here.”
“Aren’t you both in good spirit,” the older male chuckled. “Now that you’re both here, I’m happy to inform that your assignment to a house has been finalized too by Lady Flayn.”
Machina crossed his arms and faintly hummed.
Garreg Mach Monastery’s Officers Academy was known well for providing resources and a community for students from all three nations in Fodlan. As the two were foreigners, they would be placed by random chance into the three houses. Their alliance would lie in whatever nation they belonged to. Even though Fodlan was known well for its unification, the three countries were still divided based on their ideologies and people. It was literally the same situation as Orience minus the current conflict it undergoes. The only difference is the lack of a unified academy from Orience, the academies all under a nation’s flag.
The Gatekeeper looked at Machina.
“Machina, you have been assigned to the Blue Lions House.”
“Huh… I guess we’re both—”
“Rem, you have been assigned to the Black Eagles House.”
“Wait, what!?”
The male student felt his posture falter. Ever since they were young, they were inseparable. After the incidence with their past traumas, Machina and Rem stuck closer to each other, always as a pair… Though this was more so from the male’s dependency. He straightened his back and coughed audibly into his fist.
“You’re telling me that we’ll be separated?”
“I… I suppose so.”
“But why?!”
“Please, don’t ask me!” the older male wildly pushed his hands outward, beads of sweat flying out of his head. “This is all under the discretion of Lady Flayn!”
“I demand that one of us transfer to the other house!”
“You can try talking to her, but… I don’t think she’ll change her mind.”
“I’ll try!” Machina glanced over at the flabbergasted Rem… though flabbergasted for reasons other than class placement. He huffed. “I will speak to the archbishop. I will be back soon!”
And off he goes… with a cloud of smoke too behind his heels! It was almost comical had it not been for the circumstance that prompted his dash. Both the adult and student stared in awe after Machina. They exchanged looks. Then, a forced grin bore on their faces. Words would never be able to describe their feelings about this.
“I suggest you visit your classroom,” the Gatekeeper said. “Knowing that Lady Flayn wouldn’t make any immediate plans, you might as well familiarize yourself. I also believe the professor is still in the classroom.”
Rem tilted her head. “At this time?”
He nodded.
“Yes… her name is Deuce. She’s a new professor here at the monastery.”
“She is?”
“Indeed. It’s her first time teaching, but I’ve heard many good things from the other professors,” the Gatekeeper cupped his chin. “If I recall… she’s from Orience too like the other professor.”
An imaginary exclamation point popped over Rem’s head.
‘ Someone from Rubrum?! ‘
Learning of this new fact urged the student to visit the lecture hall; a quick thanks and farewell were given before leaving. Of course, a bit of time passed as Rem found herself losing track of her place in the large academy. Vague directions on top of the dark environment hardly posed clarity. (There was an incident with crashing into a wall, but that hardly warrants an explanation.) The student, fortunately, found the premise… with a little help from a white hooting companion.
Rem popped her head into the empty classroom. Well— Somewhat empty. There was a petite brunette standing in front of the lecture hall. The young girl, dressed in a familiar dark uniform from Suzaku Peristylium and vermillion cape, drew a couple of arrows and notes on the blackboard. Light taps and scratches emitted from the chalky utensil with occasional pauses. She didn’t seem to notice the brown-haired newcomer.
‘ She’s wearing the peristylium uniform… ‘ Rem mentally shook her head. ‘ She can’t be the professor he spoke about. She's too young. ‘
Perhaps there were a couple of students that came from Rubrum this academic term. It was worth noting that some students from all four nations had transferred out of the country for various reasons. Most of them were for a political movement. Some were due to familial circumstances. Others were a little more on the enigmatic side. In Rem’s and Machina’s case, they were transferred for a multitude of reasons. Could this be the same for this young girl?
“Hello?” The brunette’s hand froze and glanced over her shoulder. Seeing as how she didn’t move from her position, Rem decided to approach the girl. “I’m looking for the professor. Do you know where she is?”
“That’s me.”
The speaker's tone was so soft, she could have mistaken it for a whisper. Rem blinked.
“I… I didn’t quite catch what you just said.”
“I’m the professor.”
“…”
When greeted with silence, the brunette sighed. She placed the chalk onto the nearby desk and properly looked at the student.
“My name is Deuce. I’m the professor for the Black Eagles House,” the professor finally cracked a smile. “I’ve been expecting you. Though I must say, I’m a little surprised to know there are more students arriving from Rubrum. It might be a small world after all.”
“You’re so young to be a teacher.”
Rem, after much silence, blurted with unintentional disregard for the instructor’s comments. There was a pregnant pause. Eventually, Deuce lightly scratched her flushed cheeks in response, her eyes briefly shifted elsewhere.
“People say that all the time to me.”
“You must be very smart.”
“I don’t think so,” the youngster now giggled and frantically waved her hand. “The archbishop must have seen my talent in music and pitied me… or maybe it’s because I’m not from Fodlan…”
“Um, you studied in Suzaku Peristylium, right?”
“Yes, until last year when I transferred here with some of my classmates.”
Rem clasped her hands behind her back, leaning forward. Due to their proximity, Deuce found herself unconsciously examining the girl’s face. Those long eyelashes, those pair of curious eyes that twinkled with optimism, those soft lips— Heat burst into Deuce’s head. It took a great effort to resist the temptation to hide. The teacher placed a hand over her chest, her heart rapidly thumping. Just what is this feeling that tugs at her heartstrings?
‘ Mother never told me about this. Am I sick? ‘
Unlike the brunette, Rem was not oblivious to the source of her reaction. She giggled. How innocent of her teacher. It would be best she holds back the teasing and gets back to their original topic.
“What class were you from?”
It appears that it had snapped Deuce back to reality. The pink tinges lightened as the ex-cadet lowered her hand.
“Class Zero.”
“Class Zero…?! It’s no wonder why you were chosen to be a teacher!”
“Is it? I didn’t know it was that important.”
Rem immediately grabbed ahold of the girl’s arms and gently shook her.
“How could you not know? Class Zero was always known as a legend… No one has ever spoken about being from that class!”
“That’s not what Mother said…”
“Mother?”
“It’s a long story. I might have to tell you about sometime tomorrow.”
Their exchanges were brief as nightfall hardly allowed much time to spare. However, the two girls instantly clicked. Could it be from their shared homeland? Or could it be due to their age? Whatever it was, what Rem could attest to is the comfort she finds in her new professor… even if she is a little younger than expected.
Deuce was left in the classroom to complete her preparation for tomorrow’s lesson. Although Machina came running towards her with tears flowing down his cheeks about the inability to transfer later on that night, Rem secretly thanked Flayn for keeping them in their respective houses. It never hurts to have a breather from her overprotective friend. Besides, after getting to meet Deuce, she wouldn’t want to transfer to another house.
-----
The next day came quicker than ever for Machina and Rem after settling in. It was a whole new setting to experience. Students had flourished the monastery’s grounds. Some of the guards and warriors that patrol the premise seem to be from the same class as Deuce.
“It’s nice to find some folks like us!” Nine playfully slugged Machina’s shoulder. “Ya know, we gotta stick together, yo!”
“Nine, could you please leave the students alone?” Queen adjusted her glasses with a stack of files at hand. “We have to deliver these to Seteth.”
“Oi, why do I have to go with you anyway?”
“I hope you understand we have to report our results to Lady Flayn.”
“Ugh… of course… Well, hope ya’ll have fun with your new class.”
Though they arrived a month into the school year, the students were approachable and welcoming to the newcomers.
It turns out… Deuce might be one of the best professors out there. Young as she may be, her intelligence, coupled with the battle knowledge gained from her time in Orience and Fodlan, made her a valuable faculty. Many students, though older than her, generally find her loving and humble to an extent.
“I thought she would be clueless,” one of the students whispered over to Rem’s direction. “Turns out, she’s not all bark. Kinda scary.”
Scary? Rem didn’t think so. Throughout the days that came to pass, she had not seen the young girl raise her voice at her students. Exceptions were made when they were out on the practical field trips, but they were from protecting her students rather than to belittle them. Still… despite her gentle demeanor, the status of being one of the youngest professors teaching at Garreg Mach Monastery shook the students to their core. Deuce was an abnormality alongside her classmates from Class Zero.
As for Machina… turns out, he’s got a young teacher too by the name of Ace. His professor has a similar background as Deuce, albeit slightly different from the way he handled his classroom. He wasn’t as soft nor much of an introvert as his comrade. Ace was known to be calm and collected, but his emotions ran deeper than his reasoning. This caused Machina and Ace to butt heads at times despite their associations. Still, Machina has a newfound respect for the blonde. Ace was never one to mislead his new student in the right direction.
Days soon turned to weeks, and weeks soon turned to months… Varying seasons flew by at a steady pace. Rem and Machina were able to make new friends. They’ve become acquainted with members from Class Zero. They were able to get closer to their professors. Teatime was exchanged, their past traumas unraveled to the prestigious instructors. Rem could never forget the response she got Deuce after explaining her reason for being in the Officers Academy.
“I was hoping to find a way to live with the Crest inside of my body. I don’t know how much longer I have left to live, but I came here to find out how. It would be better to find a way to stop my coughing fit too.”
“Rem…” the brunette grabbed ahold of her hands, squeezed them, her voice having dipped into a broken whisper. “I promise, I will find a way. I promise from the bottom of my heart.”
The same could be said for Machina and Ace. Ace was surprised to hear that the young male struggled to cope with his PTSD. Someone like Ace and Deuce, who were vigorously trained as child soldiers for Arecia Al-Rashia, never understood the disorder. This was a first for the card wielder.
“I couldn’t protect her!” Machina hollered and weakly shoved Ace. “They should’ve chosen me first! Why!? Why did they choose her!? Why did they spare me!? WHY!?”
“Machina…”
It would be a lie to say Ace didn’t tear up. He had to embrace Machina with hopes of keeping the student from having an irreversible meltdown.
Both teachers were there for their students, especially for Rem and Machina. It felt as though they had strengthened their bonds. The connection they had for one another was as deep as it could get.
For Machina, his bonds grew even stronger with Ace after spending time caring for a baby chocobo with his teacher, their lifestyles slowly formatted to that of parental care for the creature.
“Us? Like parents? You could say that,” Ace said without much thought. “I think Machina would fit the mom role well.”
“Aceeeee—! What are you trying to imply here!?”
Rem finds it amusing to see her childhood friend, who was always so clingy to her, let loose… especially at the cost of his embarrassed features. His red face was a comedic sight to see. Yet from a mile away, one could tell that Machina didn’t mind the implications. Machina did confess during their time at the monastery about his romantic interest towards his young instructor.
What about Rem and Deuce? It was also clear as day that Rem was crushing hard on Deuce… Very hard, in fact. Machina felt bad watching his childhood friend struggle with an oblivious professor like Deuce. Whenever they were out on a date, Deuce had always seen it as if they were friends. Regardless, their relationship became clearer in the following month. It was a bit more dramatic than what the two males had.
“Rem, look out!”
“!”
A flash of white beam was shot at the cadet’s direction. Rem, her bloodied daggers having been pulled out of a bandit’s body, found herself as its target. At least, until Deuce slammed against Rem with her shoulder. The rough shove caused the injured student down onto the ground. An “oof” slipped out of her cracked lips as she slammed face-first onto the wet greenery.
“ARGH!”
Rem snapped her head up, the bruises beginning to form from her cheek, her eyes widen at the unfolding scenario. Deuce’s silver flute had been tossed to the side. The teacher curled into a fetal position, her hands impressing themselves onto her chest. One of the faculty, Queen, rushed to her aid.
“She’s been burnt!”
The self-proclaimed secretary cast Heal as another student tried to flop their professor onto her back. Deuce’s facial features were twisted, the pain all-too prominent. Hearing her whimper surged forth newfound energy into the sickly student. Rem got up onto her two feet. The red daggers were readjusted, the female immediately kicked forward to the assaulter.
It was all a blur. Rem’s vision was completely red. She was not one to fall under the spell of vengeance nor unnecessary violence, but something had snapped in her the moment her professor succumbed to the attack. A battle cry erupted from her throat, the daggers slashing at the enemy in a flurry. What should’ve been a simple mission from Lady Flayn to defend a village from bandits turned into a bloody mess.
Crimson stained her school’s uniform, the magma-red blood splattered onto her exposed skin. The tips of her blade sunk into the tough bandit’s armors. No steel could prevent the magically infused weapon from piercing into its thick layer. Rem tore the weapon away as she lost breath. Then, she fell to her knees, her vision beginning to narrow.
‘ No, no! Not right now! ‘
Rem stabbed her daggers into the soft earth. She lowered her head, her eyes squinted, and blood beginning to drip from her chin. A coughing fit shook her entire achy figure. The Crest was taking a toll on her frail body. It provided her strength on the battlefield, making her a one-man army, but at what cost?
‘ Deuce Deuce! ‘
The young student struggled back to her feet. She slowly dragged herself towards the fallen bard. Deuce, who acted as support for their battles, was unconscious. Queen shot a glance at the wounded student.
“Deuce is fine if you’re wondering,” she mumbled. “The laser didn’t break through her muscles. Some luck she has…”
Seven from nearby immediately caught the wobbly student. Arm over her shoulders, the tall soldier directed another Class Zero member, Trey, to cast a healing spell onto Rem. Though Rem managed to keep herself awake throughout the rest of the day, Deuce wasn’t that fortunate. The student had mostly healed from her bruises and lacerations in the aftermath. The same could be said for her teacher. However, the professor was in a coma for a week.
“Oh, Deuce…”
Completely dropping the formalities, Rem sat by her side on the seventh day, her hands clasped together into prayer. She watched the same scene happen over and over. Chest rising and falling at even intervals. Occasional twitches from her fingers and brows. The silence that hung in the air between the two girls. Rem lowered her head and wept tearlessly.
“When will you wake up?”
If anything…
“How could I tell you how much I love you?”
As expected, there was no reply.
Time ticked by until the sun began to set. Machina and Ace came by, their visits brief and acting as a reminder to return to the dormitory. Rem had gotten up from her seat. However, compared to the previous times where she would say her farewells and leave the premise, she found herself hovering over the brunette’s face.
“…”
It was the heat of the moment. Rem didn’t think twice about her actions, letting her instincts run freely. She closed her eyes and planted a kiss on her professor’s lips. Those luscious, soft lips were as delicate at Deuce was. Guilt settled into Rem’s stomach once she retracted. Heat overwhelmed her head as she bit the bottom of her lip. Kissing her professor was already overstepping her boundary… How could she do that?! She didn’t even properly proclaim her love to Deuce!
Right when she was about to pull away, Deuce reached up to caress Rem’s cheeks. Then, as if on cue, the brunette returned a kiss of her own.
“!!!”
She couldn’t even call out to her teacher’s name. Rather— She was thunderstruck! Rem opened her mouth and closed it like a fish gasping for water. Deuce, on the other hand, could not resist a weak giggle from her end.
“Why are you acting that way, Rem?”
“I—I… I-I mean! You’re… You’re awake!”
“Rem…”
“I’m so happy! I didn’t know what to do if you haven’t awakened—”
“Rem.”
“Yes?!”
Deuce eventually reached up to pat the flustered girl’s head. With a smile of her own, the professor whispered,
“I love you too.”
Turns out, Deuce finally sorted out her feelings during her comatose period. A week in a dream-like state gave her plenty of time to straighten her thoughts out. As she soothed the crying student, the ex-cadet thought back to the times of history from Fodlan. This situation eerily reminded her of a certain couple found in legends... A flashback of Byleth Eisner and Edelgard von Hresvelg transparently overlapped the two girls. Not all of history was to be repeated, but in this case, the blooming relationship of a teacher and a student from special circumstances began anew.

Vermillion Visitors (FF Type-0 x FE3H)
Rating: General Audience Category: F/F (for slight Edeleth) Crossover: Final Fantasy Type-0 x Fire Emblem: Three Houses Words: 4,857 Summary: It appears that a group of visitors not only came to the monastery but managed to incorporate themselves as a new house in it. The Black Eagles begin their discussion about the newcomers... but the same could be said about the newcomers themselves.
Tumblr media
A/N: Forgot to also upload this. (Whoops x2) I might just make a long ramble about why Fire Emblem Three Houses remind me SO MUCH about Final Fantasy Type-0... you know, with the entire war going on, the themes they’ve conveyed, and the fact that everything is so morally gray... amongst many of the shared spoilers’ concepts... but that might be for another day. Instead, I had written a fun little crossover OS of these two. Hoping to write more of them soon! Also, Edeleth snuck in and made themselves at home in the fiction.
---
“Have you heard? There are these new students that just transferred into the monastery.”
“Yeah, I’ve heard.”
“I’m surprised Lady Rhea approved of it. Do we even have another classroom to spare?”
“We don’t.”
“So… where are they taught?”
“I heard their teacher teaches them right outside of our lecture hall.”
“Out in the field? I’m surprised they could even learn…”
“I’m sure they did. Their teacher is no ordinary one. He’s a commander!”
“A commander? Sounds like someone from Brigid.”
“He is not coming from Brigid.”
Three houses gossiped and whispered amongst themselves, but none ever did so loudly than the Black Eagles. (Perhaps it is due to Dorothea, Ferdinand, Linhardt, and Hubert’s intrigue!) Whenever they spotted the vermillion cape and unique school uniform different from theirs, their eyes were glued to the person(s) of interest. They were like pigeons awaiting for their snack! Now, over lunch, almost all members excitedly chattered and debated about the foreign visitors.
“I have to agree with Petra on that one,” Caspar stabbed a fork into his steak. “He doesn’t have a tan skin like her.”
“Are you serious, Caspar?” With a deadpan expression, Linhardt stared from across the table. “Just because someone is not tan does not automatically rule them out.”
Their conversation moved onto the next phase. The aura that surrounded the visitors felt as if they possess far more experience than they would have with others of the same age group. Whenever they returned from battle, not one of them possess injuries, save it for minor afflictions. Their missions always went exceptionally well. Such an outcome was starting to become predictable, even when less than five members are sent out to the frontline. The fact that none of them required battalions made their achievements far more superior than any has seen.
“Most impressive… I hope to learn from them,” Ferdinand crossed his arms; an amused smile was drawn to life. “The fact that they’re able to return from battle without a scratch or scar shows me that they are no amateur.”
Dorothea, who was seated two spots away, clicked her tongue.
“Of course, they aren’t, Ferdie. Everyone could see it from a mile away. Perhaps you should reevaluate yourself if you had to think about their capabilities.”
“You’ve always had a sharp tongue with me, don’t you?”
“Oh, how perceptive. Would you like some money for your wounds?”
“Okay, okay, cut it out, both of you,” Caspar flailed his arm out for their attention. “Sheesh, can’t you both fight when we’re NOT eating? We’re here to talk about them.”
Bernadetta poked and probed at her beans with a fork as the blue-haired furiously reeled them back into the topic. Beads of sweat flew out of her head as she murmured,
“A-Aren’t… aren’t they a little… too perfect?”
“What do you mean?” Linhardt, who sat next to her, turned. “Perfection is an impossible feat to achieve.”
“I-I know. It’s just… the way they carry themselves… It’s like they’re not even human.”
Perfection. They were literally the manifestation of perfection. Students from the three houses had to admit that they were at a higher plane based on raw strength. Even Byleth, Catherine, and Shamir confessed that they would have trouble fighting their commander if they were to spar one-on-one!
“They are most kindest— kind people I have met though,” Petra shook her head. “I cannot see them as perfect. They are like us.”
“Hoh… Is that so…” the songstress hummed. “You might be right. They may be strong, but they’re still students.”
“That is correct.”
“Some of them are so cute too~”
“Dorothea strikes again…” the white magus blinked. “Still, I must say, they are a pleasant company.”
Ironically, at the same time, their naïve personality contrast with their veteran status. Some of them would get into senseless fights on academic grounds, and some would host picnic parties for other students outside of their group. Silly arguments would spout out of nowhere. Smiles and laughter beamed from their directions. Game of chase, singing, and naptimes were some of the frequent side activities. After all, they are still children. They deserve to live a little!
Dorothea leaned forward, elbows on the table and chin resting upon the palms of her hands. She eyed Petra as the foreigner brought the filled spoon to her mouth.
“Speaking of the commander, if he isn’t from Brigid… then what is their house name? They must have come from somewhere!”
Linhardt lowered his cup of water.
“They’re from Rubrum. I heard their house is called… Class Zero.”
Ace, the card wielder.
Deuce, the flutist.
Trey, the talkative bow user.
Cater, the gunner.
Cinque, the smasher.
Sice, the silver reaper.
Seven, the whipper.
Eight, the boxer.
Nine, the dragoon.
Jack, the samurai.
Queen, the valiant knight.
King, the marksman.
Machina, the driller.
Rem, the twin dagger-wielder.
Kurasame, the ice reaper.
As their gossip ensued, two individuals missing from the cafeteria were spotted in their respective classroom. Before the tall male left, he turned towards the vermillion noble.
“Perhaps it’s best we maintain our observations on them, Lady Edelgard.” Hubert placed a hand on his chest, bowed his head, and continued. “There is little information on them, and I do not know if they prove to be a danger to us all.”
Although the other students had generally accepted their abrupt appearance after a week, Edelgard, Hubert, and Byleth kept their suspicion. How could trust come so easily when 14 students, one teacher, and two odd creatures not only seek for refuge but seek a premise to remain as students? It had already been five months into the new school term. Admittance to Garreg Mach Monastery is impossible. Future contenders and apprentices were given another chance for the next academic year.
Until now. The commander by the name “Kurasame” struck a deal with the archbishop. No one other than his Tonberry, Seteth, and Flayn knew of the spoken dialogues between the two. It simply took an hour for the holy maiden to grant permission and acceptance into their neutral sanction.
“May the Goddess Seiros watch over you.”
His features hardly faltered. (Not that there was any to start with thanks to his armored mask.) Kurasame nodded once and turned his back towards the neon green-haired, his rough footsteps echoed in the quiet chambers. Not a single comment nor reaction came from him afterward. Not even to his closest ally, the Tonberry.
They were immediately provided with spare dormitories. Unlike the other current students and staff, members of Class Zero were squeezed into shared bedrooms of two and three. Ace and Trey; Deuce, Cater, and Cinque; Rem and Queen; Eight and Machina; Nine, Jack, and King; Sice and Seven. Kurasame had shared rooms with the Moogle and Tonberry. Facilities were immediately provided without a second glance. The students and CO were prioritized in field trips compared to the other three houses. Special attention was bestowed by the Church of Seiros. Gifts came showering in their direction as if they had a birthday party every week. Other than the lack of a classroom, they were living a luxurious life… even more so than the nobles and rising lords from all three nations!
Jealousy was an understatement. Many of the faculties, staff, and students are confuzzled beyond reason about their existence. What gives? Why are they treated as if they were all kings and queens? Hatred and spiteful remarks were numerous. Prayers to Seiros began to taint with sinful desires to tear apart the newcomers. Even comments were proclaimed right before their face! Brutal skirmishes sparked between Class Zero and the other students, especially those from the nobility. Yet the majority marched onward without strife. (The exception being Cater, Sice, Nine, and Machina.) It was as if ill will bounced from their invisible force shield.
However, there were some that view them indifferently. If anything, they viewed them with great fixation. The three house leaders, Dimitri, Claude, and Edelgard spared none of their curiosity to civilians of Rubrum. All three were on mutual agreement that there was something off about this group. Yet that did not stop them from interacting with members from Class Zero. Dimitri did not hesitate to try and befriend them, especially with Ace and Queen. Claude made various attempts to dig information of their origin from Jack and Cater. Edelgard tried to decipher and outline their abilities, more so with Sice and Machina.
They remained an enigma to this day.
“Professor?”
Byleth glanced up from straightening her papers. She found herself looking at the white-haired noble. The rest of her students had scampered away after the dry lecture. Tactical lessons about the importance of geography bored many, if not all, to death. No one dared to stay after either for questions! The fact that the Adrestian Empire’s lord waiting after class meant another matter might be at hand.
“What do you think of them?”
Byleth corrected the pages’ posture until their edges were even.
“Are you talking about Class Zero?”
“Yes.”
“…They are special.” No reaction. Byleth glanced up from her documents. Then, she turned her back towards the female lord and gathered the rest of her belongings, but not without adding a remark. “I see potential in them. Perhaps too much potential…”
The way Class Zero operated… They were clearly above their levels. It was not to say that Byleth, Manuela, and Hanneman cannot handle their students. The three were professors with plenty of practical knowledge. Almost nothing could get past them. However, the newcomers were a force to be reckoned with.
Commander Kurasame commanded his students with minimal effort on his end, yet they were able to produce satisfying results to the salivating requesters. Patriotic praises are sung high from a few. Disobedience from orders was rare to their superiors. Death and bloodshed had never budged these students from their responsibilities. Relentless assaults rained upon their enemies and monsters with fluid movements. Weapons and magic tore apart their foes without a single bit of hesitation and remorse. These students were like soldiers…
No— They are soldiers.
Byleth shook her head.
Child soldiers.
The teal-haired furrowed her brows and stuffed a textbook into her brown duffel.
As an ex-mercenary, she had seen plenty of conflict throughout her life. At the tender age of six, she picked up her first weapon. At the tender age of ten, she killed her first monster. At the tender age of twelve, she killed another human being. That was due to her occupation; it was a part of her job. Whether she fought for a nation or not, it did not matter. She was a mercenary. They were hired, they completed their job, they were paid. Nothing more, nothing less.
But Class Zero? They were like her students… They were so young to be thrust into battle. Byleth curled her fingers inward, her nails digging into her trembling palm.
“I would never treat my students like foot soldiers.”
Commander Kurasame may be a teacher to them, but he is, above all, their commander. The way he ran his lecture is a stark contrast to Byleth’s. Times, when her students were forced to fight, was solely out of survival and monthly task set out by Lady Rhea. Kurasame held no punches. “Ice Reaper” nickname fit him so well when he trained his students. They went out to fight for the Church of Seiros almost every week for the Goddess’s cause. Breaktime was scarce for the children. The few times Byleth had spotted them, their slumped shoulders and worn features struck a chord within her. That made it all more heartbreaking.
The professor felt warmth envelop her right hand on the table. She glanced at Edelgard, who gently squeezed with both hands.
“I’m sure they have their reasons, Byleth. If anything, I’m grateful to have you as our teacher.”
How strange. Byleth’s eyes softened. She is being cared for by her students. Their hands parted only for the older female to caress Edelgard’s face. This caused the vermillion noble to nestle into the nearby comfort with a blooming smile. If Edelgard were to have someone like Commander Kurasame… Her navy hues darkened. Byleth would never allow them to teach her and her classmates. Thumb smoothing over her skin, Byleth cracked out a smile.
“And I’m grateful to have you as my girlfriend.”
“!”
Alas, that smile was ever so fleeting on Edelgard’s lips. It was replaced with widening hues, jaw dropped, and a deep shade of red bursting from her cheeks. Incoherent sayings rattled out of the girl’s mouth as she took a step backward. An arm was raised, the blush spreading to all parts of her face.
“W-Wha— Why did you have to say that?!”
“Is… that a problem?”
“Of course, it is!”
Their relationship was no mere student-teacher. After the excruciating waiting and “what if” games, they finally took the first step above friendship with the help of a few allies. Edelgard had both hands pressed against her own chest; a frown marked as a prominent characteristic. The corner of her lips wavered as she barked,
“It would be bad if someone were to overhear us!”
Not that anyone other than Sothis, Jeralt, and the Black Eagles knew about it. Their private affairs would open a can of worms should word spread. Gossip about Class Zero might be overridden by the mere mention of their affairs. How scandalous. Just imagining the headlines made her stomach drop. “Edelgard von Hresvelg, the future ruler for the Adrestian Empire, found dating with Professor Byleth!” Edelgard might as well give up on her purpose of becoming an emperor if their secrets were exposed.
Byleth squinted her eyes to a slit, a twinkle sparkling from the corner.
“You’re right. It would be bad.”
“I’m glad that you see where I’m coming from. Now, I suggest we— MMFH!?”
What a surprise! Byleth pressed her lips onto those soft, pink flesh. Though it was brief, that managed to silence the 18-year-old. Temporarily, that is. When they parted, a tiny mushroom cloud of steam blew from the top of her head, and in came the overreaction.
“What are you doing?! What if they see us?”
She began to take a couple more steps backward, her entire face becoming as red as a beet. This was her limit for today. Any more and she might faint on the spot! The professor shrugged her shoulders with a neutral expression.
“They didn’t though.”
“BYLETH!”
“Yes?”
Ugh, how unbearable! Edelgard would love to run up to the teacher, pull on her cheeks, and scold the older female of her social etiquette. She really needs to work on them! Did she even interpret the earlier outburst correctly? Based on her blank reaction, it appears not. There was that strange twinkle not too long ago though… Could that mean she was being teased instead?! Hark, the white-haired closed her eyes and coughed into her fist in lieu of retaliation. She stilled herself for a few seconds; the heat simmered down to nothingness as she guided their conversation back to the main topic. When the female cracked open her eyelids, she wondered,
“Do you think they could be swayed by my words?”
Recruitment is an important part of her current plan at the monastery. Although she placed a great deal of trust with Byleth, she knew that her goals would have a greater chance of achievement if there were more comrades standing by her side. It was a noble purpose… a noble purpose that requires the spilling of blood from many; it was a bleak path that can drive one to insanity. Edelgard has no choice but to march forward into the crimson puddles and road, lest she succumbs to something more than depression!
Byleth cupped her own chin and stared downward. Those navy hues examined the wooden tile’s patterns intently during her ponder. Class Zero was a group that she hardly knew much about. Secretive was the correct terminology to describe them. They appear open and possess a cheerful disposition, yet there was something hidden beneath their exterior. She could not explain her line of reasoning for it, but her instincts forewarned about their origin. It was at the tip of her fingertips… Confirmation and elaboration were all she needed. She gazed upward. Edelgard had kept her eyes on her older girlfriend. Eventually, the professor huffed.
“It’s too soon to say. We should leave them to be.”
“…You’re right. I must be getting ahead of myself.”
“Perhaps.” Then, the teal-haired reached out to pat the student’s hair. “Whatever their answers may be, I will always be by your side, El.”
“Yes… So long as I have you by my side, I have nothing to fear.”
“Good girl.”
Their conversation came to closure as Byleth resumed tidying the classroom and her supplies. This might take some time. In that case, Edelgard motioned a farewell to her teacher before taking her leave. Trouble was already waiting. A couple steps out of the lecture hall and she came to contact with another student.
“Oof!”
The impact possessed a bit more power than she had anticipated. Unfortunately, she had lost her balance. Edelgard fell forward and into the person. Had it not been for their quick reflexes, they would have collapsed together. Should Claude ever be present, he would have laughed his bottom off at her misfortune. If he were kinder than his schemes, he might have given pity points in her way. Her gloved hands pressed upon the male’s broad chest. The black attire, the red cape, the golden patterns… A single glance told her that it was none other than a student from the infamous Class Zero.
“King…?”
“Are you okay?”
His deep voice reverberated from his throat. Taller than both her and Byleth, the young man gently eased her away from his body. Compared to him, Edelgard felt like a midget. (He reminds her too much of Dedue.) She could not help but bob her head and slurred thanks. Seeing that no harm was done, the gunner softly scoffed and turned his back towards her.
“Please be careful. Had you bump into someone like Deuce or Jack, you would have been in trouble.”
Straight to the point; there was nothing more to add. Though there was truth to his words. Deuce was the weakest member, and she would have been the one causing trouble instead. As for Jack, he can be a flirt with the ladies. This holds no exception to those outside of Orience, the playboy spotted hanging out with a new girlfriend every week or so. King immediately left her behind, the house leader staring after him like a deer in headlights.
Not even a minute ticked by until the mullet-haired bumped into his classmate. An elongated sigh slithered out of his respiratory system when the dragoon tucked his hands into his pant’s pockets. Hunched over, Nine grumbled as his eyes followed the now-leaving Edelgard.
“Tch, she’s just staring at us like we’re animals.” Nine swiped the corner of his mouth while wearing a scowl. “I wonder what she’ll think if we give her a good ol’ lesson— OUCH!”
The dragoon vigorously rubbed the top of his head as Queen delivered a punishing blow. She retracted her hand and shook her head.
“Nine, please refrain yourself.”
“How could I? Don’t act so holy yourself, Queen. You saw the way she looked at us!”
“Lady Edelgard is not the type to act that way. Besides, it’s normal for them to view us that way. Didn’t you remember how we were treated back at the peristylium?” She was correct. Back when they were a part of Suzaku Peristylium as cadets, they attracted far more attention than needed. After their bravery from their first operation, Class Zero gained plenty of infamous focus. Everywhere they walk, whispers and murmurs tailed after them. Some were singing high praises as if they were the gods and goddesses. Some resented the students as they gained special permission to be a part of their academic institution. The fact that they were receiving similar treatment on this educational ground slightly disappointed them. It was unsurprising to an extent. She adjusted her glasses and returned her attention to Nine. “Then, again, I’m sure your simple mind could not begin to understand the complexity of our situation…”
“Oi oi, try saying that again to me, Queenie,” the rowdy boy got up to her face. He snarled and jabbed his finger on her chest. “I do understand our situation! I’m not stupid!”
She rolled her eyes. “You couldn’t even name the nations from Orience.”
“Ha! Yes, I can!”
“Right…. Right… Sure you can….”
“KORRA! I’ll prove it to you! It’s Lolicon—”
“Relax, Nine,” King placed a hand on the raging boy’s shoulder. He firmly squeezed on it as he muttered, “We have bigger issues to deal with.”
“Tch, we’re talking about that axe-wielding girl, aren’t we?”
“No…”
Queen exhaled loudly. Right at that moment, the other members of Class Zero coincidentally regrouped in the field. (Many of them wandered about the premise and had either returned from a mission or from the training grounds.) Thank goodness they would be able to divert Nine’s poor attention span to the main problem at hand.
“How goes your mission?” Ace asked the three participants: Deuce, Trey, and Cater.
“It went well,” the flutist clasped her hands with a faint smile. “We were able to escort and protect the Knights of Seiros into the Kingdom of Faerghus.”
“The walk was long though… and THIS guy wouldn’t shut up!” Cater pointed her thumb at the archer. “If I had known he would be coming, I would’ve convinced Nine and Machina to take both Deuce’s and my place!”
Trey pinched the bridge of his nose. “I hope you understand how much it pains me to hear that from you. You simply do not understand the importance of the political climate here in Fodlan. There is also the Crest system, to which they are to—”
“Ugh… Just SHUT UP.”
Sice held no punches when it came to annoyance, especially regarding Trey. The grim reaper dramatically covered her ears and groaned. She would love to stab a fork into her eardrums if she could. Actually, maybe it would have been better if someone taped up his voicebox so he would cease speaking. Trey would have been better had it not been for his running mouth. No one cares what he has to say… Not even the kindhearted Ace, Deuce, and Rem from Class Zero… and certainly not from Marianne, Mercedes, and Linhardt.
Seven rested a hand against her forehead. “Even though we’re thrown into another country, I’m surprised we are still acting as nothing happened.”
“What can we say?” Jack placed both hands behind his head, his head slightly tilted upward with a grin. “There’s nothing wrong with trying to make the best of our situation. It’ll do us no good to wallow in grief.”
“That’s problematic if Jack starts talking some sense…”
“Oooo, ouch, Sice, your words wound me.”
She stuck a middle finger at him as their comrades lightly chuckled or giggled at the exchange.
“Jackie is correct though~” Cinque popped in between Deuce and Cater, her arms tossed over their shoulders. The two nearly buckled under the abrupt weight as the mace-wielder giggled. “I think we’re brought here for a reason.”
“You may have a point…” Queen cupped her chin and frowned. “Ever since we’ve gotten sucked into that black portal, we’ve been stuck here.”
The unofficial class president labeled by her classmates vividly recalled the time of their transportation. All fourteen members were in their classroom. A lecture was handed out by Kurasame, who taught them advanced lessons on casting potent spells. His Tonberry calmly watched over the students. As for the Moogle, he had gathered worksheets from the diligent students. Almost an hour into the long session and a loud shatter resonated within the premise. Everything came to a standstill. The focus was dragged straight towards a black tear in space. Before they knew it, everyone in the room was pulled into the supernatural feature of the unknown.
This all happened in less than one minute. The next thing they knew, they were plopped face-first into the soil of what is called “Fodlan.” Despite their knowledge of survival, this barren landscape was a little extreme for the students. It was a miracle for them to receive help from the monastery had it not been for Commander Kurasame. Otherwise, they would have ended in a sadder state than they are currently.
“Do you think we could really head back?” Machina gripped Ace’s shoulders. He lightly shook him. “I have to return back for the sake of Izana.”
“Machina, I’m sure we will.” This time, Rem grabbed her childhood friend’s wrists and tore it away from the first Class Zero member. “It will do you no good to think about him. Right now, we need to figure out how to get back to our country.”
Seven puffed air and glanced elsewhere. “If we do, we’ll be dragged back into war. I like it here.”
War was frequent in Orience with the four nations. The Dominium of Rubrum, the Milites Empire, the Kingdom of Concordia, and the already-obliterated Lorican Alliance were slaughtering each other in the name of their morally grey reasons. Plenty of skirmishes and dying soldiers were almost a daily occurrence. This was all due to the peace treaty being violated by one other than Cid from the Milites Empire. He broke it and immediately struck the Suzaku Peristylium’s grounds. Screams and wails of dying students haunted their memories. Grown men trying to bring about the same treatment as they’ve done with the other students. Guns blazing in the roaring flames. Magic and summons recreated for the sake of a crucial minute. Blood spilled everywhere. Dying students were forgotten in history by the country's Crystals; name tags commemorating their existence by mere names. It was a violent conflict. Their comrades were dying each day. They couldn’t even catch much of a break. One slip-up and they were finished.
The fact that they were transported here during times of peace was seen as a blessing.
“I prefer if we stay here if you ask for my honest opinion.”
“Sure, it is peaceful, but I have a feeling we need to return back to Orience as soon as possible,” Cater said. “We may have a reason for being summoned here, but once we’ve accomplished it, then we can go home.”
“Back to the dreadful war again?”
She gravely nodded.
“Yes… Back into the conflict.”
“…”
Everyone became silent. Their heads hung, many of the students began to contemplate their reason for being here at the monastery. Why are they here…? And for what purpose? Who sent them here? A multitude of questions floated within their skull, desperation for answers becoming aggressive at its owner and listener. Are they tools for war once again? If they were brought here, does that mean they had to participate in another war-like effort? They are child soldiers, the vermillion-caped cadets dubbed the "Red Demons."
“Until we find a way back… Let’s enjoy ourselves~”
Cinque random antics were so unpredictable. However, that made her weighty statement all the more powerful; Ace could be seen singing some from himself too. He chuckled and lowered his head.
“She’s right,” he said. As the atmosphere lightened, he added, “We might as well think of this as a long-term vacation. Besides, I don’t think it hurts to get to know everyone else.”
Deuce intertwined her fingers and beamed. "I think we should have a picnic with everyone!"
"That sounds like an excellent idea."
That voice did not belong to anyone of the 14 members. Rather, the mature, feminine voice boomed from behind the card-wielder. Before he could glance over his shoulder, the ex-mercenary stepped forward and stood by his side. Ace cautiously watched her actions. As they were strangers upon this land, though they may have been a part of the monastery for a month by now, they were conditioned to be wary of anyone outside of their little Class Zero family and their self-proclaimed mother, Arecia Al-Rashia. You just cannot trust anyone. If Suzaku Peristylium's Commandment and co-conspirators always used sly, corrupted techniques to get them and Mother Arecia killed, then who else could they trust? This professor seems trustworthy though from their observations... even Kurasame's Tonberry warmed up to her.
"Hmph," King crossed his arms. "You think so?"
The professor nodded. Despite her brick-like expression, the teal-haired motioned,
"If anything, just as Ace mentioned, we should get to know everyone. I think it would be fair for us to get to know you all too."
"Oh~ So which Housey should we have a picnic with first?" Cinque raised a hand high in the air. "I think it'll be too much to have all three Housey to have lunch together, right?"
A glimmer sparkled from the corner of Byleth's eyes.
"Since I am the professor of the Black Eagles House, I would love to have you all meet my students."

White Lie (Rem x Deuce)
Rating: Teen and Up Audience Archive Warning: N/A Category: F/F Words: 2,663 Summary:  After a week-long mission, Rem and the others await for their comrades' return. Their returns were drastic and horrid, but it appears that Deuce is in near-pristine condition. Unfortunately, Rem finds out that there's a bit more to her girlfriend's appearance...
Tumblr media
A/N: This is for a good buddy, Rin. Dragging me to the rarepair scene like there’s no tomorrow. (Then again, I’m one for Deuce x everyone, lol.) I had fun with this!
----
War was always something she hadn’t enjoyed. It was a necessity, but the collateral damage crushed her spirit. Guns blazed over the flames, ice and lightning burst overhead, wyverns and machines unleashed unimaginable strength, shrieks and blood coated the land. Students sprawled for miles on end, their body parts churned through a nightmarish wheel of fate. Innocent civilians were executed by stray bullets and used as blackmails. War crimes are at an all-time high after the broken peace treaty, even more so after the Fabula Pact.
Rem Tokimiya thumbed the knowing tag over her neck. Iron lingered on her taste buds, the metallic sensation disrupting her olfactory. She chewed the bottom of her lip. They were living in Hell, and there was nothing they could do about it.
“Ah— They’ve returned.”
She snapped her head to the front entranceway after Eight’s announcement. The two, along with Machina, watched the double door creak open. Slow as the process may be, out flowed some older cadets, stained and dirtied with grime and blood. Rem sharply inhaled. Their weary features blackened the sparkles that had once been contagious. One of the students had lost a limb, his friends supporting his hobbling. Another student had lost an eye, her stares hollow, fingers occasionally touching the crimson patch. Eight and Machina exchanged worrisome looks.
“I’m… I’m sure they’re okay,” Eight weakly punched his palm, albeit his tonality wavered. “We’re Class Zero.”
Ace, Deuce, Nine, and Queen were tasked with an important mission. Ordinarily, all 14 members of Class Zero would participate in the fight. They were always together… even Rem and Machina were included. This time, Central Command ordered the squad of four to participate in a special operative. An imperial officer had defected from the Milites Empire. They, accompanied by a pack of cadets from other classes, were to travel to the snow-covered Mt. Acrid in West Nesher and take the officer into custody.
‘ Deuce never liked the cold… ‘
Compared to the hardy Ace, Nine, and Queen, Deuce was the weakest of them all. Consistent exercises in the training arena did not do much to alleviate the pitiful stats. If she had frozen to death... Rem’s thumb hastens, her hues pointed at the pouring soldiers.
“Is there a reason as to why they weren’t healed?” Machina grumbled. "What happened out there?"
One of the better-looking cadets stopped in place. He turned to Machina. “We ran out of potions and were low on magic.” He shook his head, his shoulders slumped. “I thought we were prepared, but we were overwhelmed.”
“We should count our lucky stars, chap,” his ally brushed his shoulder. Walking ahead, the student murmured, “We made it out alive.”
Machina, Eight, and Rem felt their blood freeze. Sunny as the rays may be for this afternoon, they shivered, their bones rattling. These grave words were only soothed by the fact they remembered Ace, Deuce, Nine, and Queen. They’re not dead, but…
“Ace—!”
Machina rushed forward, his vermillion cape audibly flapping from behind. He was the first to approach their classmates.
Nine hand his arm slung over Ace’s shoulder; the dried blood smeared from his head. The scarred lancer grimaced.
“Oi, ya lover is here, Acey.”
The disheveled Ace felt steam blow from the top of his head. If Nine were not injured, the blonde would have walloped the dragoon into submission! Instead, he ignored his friend’s lousy remark, a faltered smile formed.
“Machina… I’ve returned.”
Nine scrunched his nose to exaggerate distaste as their exchanged continued. He was stuck in the middle like a third wheel, an angry throb pulsating from the corner of his head. Out of all his returns, this had to be the worst one of them all. (Even the time Queen punched him in the guts after a mission failure was better in comparison.) Nine grumbled under his breath, his eyes shifty between the two boys. Machina fawns over Ace like a doting mother… He’s more of a mother than Mother Arecia herself.
“Ugh, if only I hadn’t saved yer ass, I would’ve been fine and dandy like you.”
“I thank you from the bottom of my heart, Nine.”
“Urk… I think I feel sick…”
“From your injuries?”
“No, from YOU TWO.”
It was almost as if their troubling times with the operation had not existed, the three babbling and squabbling like little children. Other cadets and officers expressed disdain from nearby. But none dare speak up. They know the harsh truth. These are children—unfortunate children conditioned for war.
Eight and Rem, on the other hand, heeded far more attention to the other females, the petite boy extending his hands out.
“Easy there…” he whispered, allowing Deuce to transfer the weak girl over. Queen, who had been struggling to stay conscious, finally crumpled upon taking a step into the academy’s ground. Had it not been for the flutist and Rem’s reflexes, the sword user would have fallen to the floor. Eight narrowed his eyes from the stickiness. “She’s lost a lot of blood.”
Deuce, who appears to be the healthiest of the bunch, lowered her head.
“I tried to heal her…” Tears prickled, the flutist’s nails digging into her palms. “She protected me. If… If I had only been faster—!”
“Deuce,” Eight’s eyes softened. “It’s not your fault. I’m sure Mother can heal her.”
He glanced over to Ace, Machina, and Nine. Then, he looked at Rem and Deuce.
“I’m going to find Mother. I’ll see you guys later.”
He promptly disappeared from the scene. The other boys quelled their conversation, but only temporarily. Nine eventually barked that Machina and Ace take him to the infirmary. That left the two girls stranded by the entranceway.
“Deuce…”
The calling of her name prompted Deuce to close their distance. Deuce grabbed ahold of Rem’s hands; those hands were enveloped with a warmth that starkly contrasted to the winter storm from her week-long mission. Her thumbs smoothed the cadet’s hand and smiled.
“I’m back, Rem.”
“Deuce!”
“#$%@&*!” An incoherent outcry startled the wits out of nearby officers from the sudden lunge. Rem, known for her passiveness, acted out of character. She launched herself towards the bard without a moment of hesitation. Deuce stiffened, her eyes wide, and squirmed in her crushing embrace. “R-Rem— Ow! That hurts!”
That was odd. Rem immediately pulled away. Deuce’s respiration had quickened, sweat poured forth from her pores, the metallic smell beginning to waft into her nostrils, and her smile now strained. Rem frowned.
“Deuce! Are you hurt?”
A hesitant shake of her head. “No.”
Now that was odd. Deuce would normally speak up about her injuries. She was the frailest member in the class— or even the entire peristylium! Injuries that could be shaken off by many would render the girl handicapped. Students and commanders that participate with her in battle know all too well to keep her safe from harm’s way. (A recent example being Queen’s protection.) Rem knew that too, hence her majestic capabilities to shield her. All these protections led to Deuce holding the best record for staying alive in any given battle… and for holding the least number of scars on her figure.
The familiar iron tickled Rem’s nose, only it was getting stronger. She began a thorough examination of the flutist’s body. Not a speck of blood seen on the girl, save for the occasional dirt and torn fabrics. Astonishing when consideration is taken to her sense of smell. It had to come from somewhere. Rem pat the girl’s arms. No reaction. She slid her hands onto Deuce’s shoulders and provided another pat. No reaction yet again.
Meanwhile, the young girl tried to inch away from Rem…
“Don’t move.”
Deuce felt a chill run down her spine, her legs halted in place. She gulped. Rem was intent on keeping her still during the examination. Not that it took long anyway. The youngster jabbed her index upon Deuce’s modest chest, causing the musician to wince. Rem retracted her finger. One look was all it took, traces of magma-red staining the pigments. Beads of sweat flew out of Deuce’s head at the sight of her comrade’s intensity. A forced giggle erupted from her throat as she weakly flailed her hands.
“Y-You know, I have to go see Mother—”
“Deuce.”
“YES?!”
Rem huffed. She shook her head, reached out to Deuce, and proceeded to drag her away from the area, despite her weak objections.
“Rem, can I see Mother, please?”
“…”
“I-It’s kind of urgent…”
“…”
“R-Rem?”
“…”
Silence was the only response she could give. Dread shadowed over Number Two as she shifted her gaze elsewhere. It was rare for Rem to act this way. The last time she acted this way was when they got into an argument over her illness.
Deuce vividly recalled their raised voices. Tonality that was never heard before to the public were exposed like an open book, their stubbornness bashing against each other. Deuce had shaken her head more times than she could count with two hands. Rem was as stiff as cardboard with hands on her hips. The fight took about a week to recover from and the members from Class Zero had no idea how to bring them back together. (It was thanks to Kurasame and, surprisingly, Sice that encouraged them to mend their relationship.)
Could this be another heated session? Deuce felt a shade of red discolor her cheeks, albeit for a different reason.
They eventually reached Rem’s dormitory. The door cracked open, she single-handedly motioned for the brunette. Deuce timidly scuttled inside before Rem clicked it closed. She seated herself on the mattress after a silent urge from the female.
“Clothes.”
Deuce really didn’t want to do this… but she adhered to Rem. Who was she if she were to ignore her girlfriend’s request?
She unbuttoned and unclicked her uniform. Bit by bit, she stripped her upper wear until she was left with nothing but her bra. Rem sharply inhaled, all forms of frustration eroded.
“Oh, Deuce…”
Scratch marks, likely from a machine, tore through the chest’s epidermis. Though it appears as though someone had cast a healing spell or used potions on the infliction, the gash had not fully sealed, blood oozing from two of the three cuts. Amongst the other scars that lightly riddled the brunette’s porcelain skin, this one was the worst of them all. Perhaps it was a blessing from a divine spirit that prevented the injury from sinking its lacerations deeper than the surface. Had it touched her heart…
Rem shooed the thought away. She immediately cleaned the bloodied mess.
"How in Orience did you hide this wound?"
"..."
"Deuce?"
"I... got a spare uniform. It was cold, so I carried extra in case I got wet."
"I see."
Soon, Rem hovered her palms over the cadet’s chest, soft green light emitted. Deuce let out a shaky exhale. The throbbing that once plagued her cavity had now dissipated. (Granted, they were bearable this morning, but the freezing temperature had dulled the pain receptors until her return.) She dryly swallowed and watched her girlfriend.
“Why did you hide this from me?”
“…I didn’t want to worry you.”
“Didn’t you just scold me about this?” Rem sighed. “You should practice what you preach.”
Deuce gently bit the inside of her cheek, her eyes downcast. “You’re right. I… I’ve never sustained any injuries like this… and I thought I could go to Mother to heal me.”
“Huh, Mother…”
Rem removed her hands. (Thanks to her high capability of magic, spending Cure on her fellow ally hardly wasted her breath, especially if it’s for her dear Deuce.) Now that the gash left nothing more than faint lumps, the brown-haired began to trace the scars. Deuce nearly let out a squeak as the cadet allowed her mind to wander.
‘ Deuce… aside from Machina, everyone in Class Zero had always spoken about Mother Arecia. ‘
Adopting children was not rare in Orience. Orphans from war and brutality were common. The lucky bunches would be picked up from the streets and served in manors for the riches and most elite. The unlucky bunches would be picked up from the streets and served as slaves or prisoners for the ruthless and heartless. However, it was sincerely an oddity to have someone pick up 12 children almost all at once.
“I’m sorry, Rem… for lying to you. I’ll tell you the truth next time.”
“That’s okay. I forgive you.”
Rem felt her heart clench. She had to forgive Deuce. There was no other way to teach Deuce what was right and what was wrong.
She and Machina knew more than them. Even the oldest member, Seven, possess very little knowledge about social and general knowledge about the world. When they were asked about the war, all 12 members claim to enjoy fighting. They've trained all their lives, never rewarded for their deeds, stuck out like a sore thumb from the mass, yet they stood proudly without shame. The members were conditioned, and that too applied to Deuce.
When they privately spent time together, the child would always point out the most obvious and ask questions about it.
"How are flowers grown?"
"Why is the sky blue?"
"When is the right time to tell someone you like them?"
"Rem, what is this feeling in my heart every time I see you?"
"My heart aches when I see you with Machina... Do you know why?"
"Rem, what does ' love ' really mean?"
There was so much for her to learn… especially in the form of love. Had it not been for the valiant efforts of Rem’s confession, both Deuce and Rem would have been left with an awkward two-sided love that would go unnoticed by the two crushers. (Porn books by Jack aren’t exactly helpful.) If Rem didn't confess... what would have happened to the two of them?
“Rem? Can I put my clothes back on?”
She snapped back to reality. Deuce, whose cheeks were on fire, was trembling under her ghostly touches.
‘ Oh. She’s half-naked. ‘
Rem pulled back her hand once again, the temperature from her face rising in conjunction. However, what retracts was replaced with something far more pleasant. She leaned in to plant a brief kiss on the flutist’s lips. Butterflies fluttered inside of their stomachs, the faint tingles sparking from the sensitive pink flesh once they parted.
“Promise me you won’t do that ever again,” she breathed, her eyes staring deep into the other's. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind Deuce’s red ear. Then, Rem pulled her into an embrace, her head buried into her shoulder. She deeply inhaled the fresh, rainy scent that always accompanied the bard. “Promise me that you will come to me first for healing.”
A shudder. Deuce slowly brought her arms around her girlfriend and leaned her head against Rem’s. “What if my injuries are too much to be healed by you?”
“Who says I can’t?”
“Well… then what if I needed to be revived?”
“I’ll search the entire continent to find a Phoenix Down.”
“And if you can’t?”
“I will.” Rem parted from Deuce and caressed her face. Thumbs smoothed her silky skin as she whispered, “I will always bring you back to life… just like how you brought me back to life with those three words.”
Deuce giggled. They went in for another tender kiss, the two disregarding the earlier request to redress. Blissful love showered upon the couple as Rem was eventually stripped down to her undergarments. There wasn't one moment where they looked away from each other, even as Deuce plopped back on the mattress and Rem hovered from above. They nuzzled their noses with bright smiles.
“I love you, Rem."
"I love you too, Deuce."
It was safe to say that after that long and romantic evening, Deuce kept her promise with Rem. Not that she needed to keep it in the first place as Rem accompanied her to every single battle afterward... much to the dismay of Kurasame and Arecia.
