Regulus Black with a mobility aid, inspired by a post from @/youdrewstars_aroundmyscars on instagram.

- Regulus has cerebral palsy, as a result of a gene mutation causing his brain to develop differently

- Specifically he has ataxic cerebral palsy, so he has trouble with balance and coordination when walking, and he has a hard time with quick movements and with tasks such as writing which require a lot of control

- He also is deaf as a result of a gene mutation, which also led to slight "issues" in his pronunciation when talking

- His parents always ignored his disabilities as a child, instead liking to pretend he was able bodied, and never giving him the help and support he needed

- He was forced into speech therapy, and his parents would always force him to try "walk properly without falling over" so as to not "ruin their reputation"

- When his speech didn't get much better and he still couldn't miraculously hear them, Regulus' parents finally got him a cochlear implant at age 9, but that was all the support he ever got

- Once Regulus got to Hogwarts, he decided to take matters into his own hands

- The speech therapy has stopped, which he was glad about, but he was still slow and unsteady on his feet and struggled with writing and moving quickly

- After a couple weeks scouring the library, Regulus found a charm he could put on his quill so that it would write for him, and that was one accommodation he found for himself, his classmates giving him odd looks but never questioning it

- After much deliberation, after struggling with the stairs and walking to his classes on time, Regulus decided to get himself a cane

- Just after Christmas in his first year, Regulus got Sirius to help him in finding and buying a cane, as Sirius had been through this with Remus already and was more than happy to help his little brother

- Regulus got his cane in January of 1973 while still in first year, and of course people asked him what it was for, why he needed it, even went as far as to tell him he couldn't possibly need it as he was only 12 years old

- This got to Regulus at first, but then he remembered about Remus and his cane, how cool it made him look, and he began strutting around Hogwarts with his head held high, death staring anyone who dare question him or look at him the wrong way

- Regulus was still a little unsteady with the cane, and still had to go quite slowly, but it helped, and that was what mattered

- So Regulus used his cane for a few years, leaving it at Hogwarts over Christmas and asking Sirius to send it home with James over summer so that his parents didn't crucify him, and all was well, he was finally getting aid in walking and it was a lot easier for him

- In his 5th year, having run away from home with Sirius the previous year to live with James, it finally hit Regulus that he was free. For good. He could use any aids he needed without worry of consequence from his parents

- He decided that he wanted to try out a walker, as he thought this would help with his balance a lot more than the cane did

- Over Christmas break of his 5th year, while at the Potter's, Regulus brought up the idea with Effie and Monty, who were more than happy to help him, and were very happy that he was finally asking for help and not completely hiding his feelings anymore

- Within 2 days, they had found a walker that seemed suitable and it was in the house, ready for Regulus to try out

- That day, Sirius, Remus, James, and Regulus, Peter and Marlene both living nearby but occupied with family activities, went for a walk down to the village, Remus with his cane mainly to help Regulus feel more confident, and Regulus with his brand new walker

- It did help, it helped a lot. And while Regulus was sad he didn't get the chance to get one earlier in his life, he was thrilled that he had one now

- With the walker, he could balance a lot better than he could with the cane, and he could even walk a little faster, not having to slow the group down any slower than Remus' pace with his cane

- Regulus used the walker every day of Christmas break from there, even when they all took a trip to Diagon Alley together

- In Diagon Alley, while Regulus did get a few stares from older witches and a few people in his classes, he employed the tactic he had used when he first got his cane; head held high and death stare all the way, and he made his way through all of the shops happily talking with his brother and his friends, more confident than ever

- Going back to Hogwarts, Regulus hit the issue of the many stairs in the building, not being able to use his walker up them

- He settled for using his cane at any time where he had to go up stairs, and using his walker whenever possible

- Regulus finished Hogwarts confidently using his mobility aids, no longer worrying about people's opinions of him, and continued to use his aids out in the world, with his boyfriend (boyfriend !!) James Potter and his brother and brother in law always by his side

i know that sirius and regulus were most likely brought up to speak “proper” french, aka parisian french, but i like to imagine that in some world they were raised to speak québécois french, and sirius likes to use as many swear words as possible as much as he can, especially because the fact that they’re religious swear words makes it even more rebellious (and regulus too, though he’s more precise with when and where he swears)

I have officially decided to become a Severus Snape and Regulus Black shipper.

I don't know how it happened either...

So, I read this fic, I don't remember the name but I think it was on ao3 or fanfiction.net (if anyone finds it please repost this with it or leave the link in the comments)

So Snape is an asshole, but he is a smart one, a cunning one, the best of the best, the most powerful kid in that school. Fight me about it, I've been taking boxing lesson since I was 8.

Don't get me wrong, he's not likable and what he did is not justified, killing people and being rasist basically. What, you thought I was talking about his bullying children. Oh, you poor flower child. I don't think he was always this bad...

A child can't be evil. He learned this behaviour from his parents (rasism from his dad, sadism (headcanon: Eileen blamed Severus for her failed relationship with Tobias and that's why she doesn't stop his abuse, towards her and Severus) from his mom), his housemates (RASISTS), and his year and school mates (how to be disgusted by people who are different from you 101)

And Regulus is a genius, he outsmarted the darkest lord of their (I headcanon Regulus as he/they, again, fight me about it) time at 18. He may not be powerful, but he's observant and very empathic (this post is full of headcanons), even if their not that people-inclined. He knows how to manipulate and they knows the darkest of the arts, even if, again, he isn't inclined towards them. He's also very good at complicated magic (healing spells and wards(they can hide anything from anyone)).

Soooooo, that being said. The fic:

Snape is trying to catch Lupin as a werewolf so he digs a spot pretty close to the castle so he can make a run for it if necessary. It's kinda small.

Regulus comes and kinda fits himself into the hole, it's very cramped now and neither of them know how to cast an expending charm.

A professor guides Remus to the Shrinking Shack and Severus is trying to listed to the steps but Regulus keep talking so he covers their mouth with his hand and presses himself into Regulus so he can hear better.

Regulus kisses Snape and they make out, the oneshot ending with Snape thinking to try again next month and going somewhere more private with Regulus.

OOO great question!

(let me preface this by saying that my characterization might not be everybody’s, and that’s okay. my characterization is “the one” in my head, but that doesn’t mean it has to be everyone else’s “one,” and neither i nor the fics/authors i mention below are “better” in any way, shape, or form than anyone else. everyone in this fandom writes amazing works, and i’m sure there are so many wonderful fics with phenomenal regulus characterization that i haven’t read yet)

i’m gonna sound like a cunt here, but my own fics take first place for me💀i write for myself, so i write the regulus i perceive, yk? but here’s (some of) my reggieverse of madness:

@imdamagecontrol’s regulus is amazing in every fic they write, i.e. in paint it black, which to me really shows not only his “duality” but everything in between (and he’s got the cutest little nose freckles), and i’m really really excited to read more of their regulus study, all these terrible things

user georgia_sk on ao3 (i’m sorry if she has tumblr! i looked for it to try and tag her but couldn’t find it) wrote an amazing fic called whatever happened to the young, young lovers? that really encapsulates regulus for me as well

since people are asking for them, here are my unpopular marauders opinions

(note, and i mean this in the most serious way: please, for the love of god, if you don't agree, just scroll. there is no reason to cause drama over some unpopular opinions of some random tumblr user just because you don't agree with me.)

remus is my least favorite character. don't get me wrong, i love him to bits, he's just the least intriguing to me. he's the character we've been given most of; not only that, i find sirius and james' character, as well as peter's (and his betrayal), as far more interesting

i don't really like jegulus for the same reason as remus; the dynamic is interesting, there is a lot to work with there, including the death eater and order member dynamic, but i just find some ships as more interesting

most of the characters are written as super one-dimensional and therefore i do not like most fandom characterizations which is a crucial point, to me, in whether i read the fic. i like fics in which the characters are written as real people, with human emotions and flaws, and not some qualities thrown together

some wolfstar shippers are pretty much the most annoying people in fandom (coming from a wolfstar shipper). shipping the only consistent ship in this fandom does not make you inherently better than everyone else, and just because someone else splits wolfstar for other ships dynamics does not mean anything

the black sisters and the evans sisters, if written well, can be more interesting than the black brothers and i don't think we talk enough about them (i also find the black brothers are really interesting, and i need more fics in which the intensity of these dynamics are explored)

i dislike the main characterization of regulus in fandom, being a huge fan of morally grey regulus. however, each with their own characterization, and i'm no one to judge next. i find him to be a very interesting character, however, and i like fics that dive deeper into his character

people who ship jegulus and hate lily for no reason need to chill; furthermore, people who hate mary and lily for "getting in the way" of their mlm ships are... i'm not going to comment on this, but you probably know what i mean

"stan bambi" comments on snape videos are really annoying because the very same way we don't like (and sometimes get aggressive) over snape lovers attacking the characters we like, why are we doing that to other people?

i need more peter-centered fics, and i do not like him only being a sidekick or ignored. also, mary is also a very interesting character, and i don't think we credit her enough for it

the girls are far more interesting than people make them out to be and i NEED an atyd-like fic (long canon compliant etc) from their povs. it's not a want, it's a need, and i might just write it myself, because i think that a fic like that has a lot of potential

dorcas is morally grey and i need more fics in which that is a thing

this might be my most unpopular opinion but i prefer lily to regulus; i find them both to be very interesting characters, but i find myself more drawn to lily

pretty privilege is REAL in this fandom. bet that if peter and snape were conventionally attractive, they would be as loved as evan, barty, and regulus

i do not see sirius as transfem but why do people have to be so pressed about this hc. lif you don't see it, shut up, move on with your day, and let people who see it do their thing; this fandom is TOO pressed about other people's hcs

i kind of dislike fanon james because they strip him of all humanity and emotions, and make him a ray of walking sunshine with no issues (hence my essay on it, which you can read here)

Renaming Albus Severus Potter

So while scrolling on Tumblr, I occasionally see posts like this where the user says that Harry should have named his second son after Hagrid, Regulus, Neville or Arthur instead of Snape (and Dumbles often as well but it's mostly Snape).

And I am just so bewildered. Why would Harry name his son after Regulus?? As much as I love Reggie as part of the Black family (best family in HP 100%), he's a paper-thin character. He's not even a secondary character. If someone can say Regulus deserves this honour because of his effort in the Horcrux takedown...what about Snape? The man who constantly protected Harry and other kids? The man who played his part in taking down Voldy? The man whose dying moment involved helping Harry beat Voldy?

For all we know, Reggie died still believing in pureblood supremacy.

Look, I hate all of Harry's kids. Actually, Scorpius is the only next-gen kid I can tolerate, sometimes Albus. I have tried reading hp next gen fics and most of them are vomit-inducing and cliche. But I feel sorry for Albus Potter being named after teachers while his siblings were named after grandparents and loved ones. I feel conflicted about one of James' grandkids having Severus' name - it almost feels dirty. But also cathartic at the same time. It's amusing to imagine James rolling in his grave because of it.

Anyway, I am just amused at posts like this.

My take of the ‘Mudblood’ situation with my oc Eden. Lily is like a user and only takes what she wants (in this oneshot).

“ENOUGH!” She yelled as the Great Hall went silent. “I am sick and tired of hearing you apologise to her when she doesn’t want to hear it. Severus you are better than this.”

“But-“

“But nothing! Lily is being a bitch.”

“How dare you..!” Lily interrupted, as she got up from her seat next to James Potter and started to walk up to the black haired girl near the professor’s table. (Lily glared at her boyfriend to not do nor say anything and he angrily nodded his head).

“Shut up Lily! JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR ONCE! Not everything is about fucking you!” Eden yelled as she glared into her second oldest friend’s green eyes.

“Do you know what he called me?” Lily asked as her face flushed with anger, finally they were talking about the incident that happened a few weeks ago.

“Do I know what happened? Yeah, I was there. Your little dick of a boyfriend hung Severus upside down and made him choke on fucking soap and the best fucking part? Stripped him naked in front of everyone! ISN’T THAT AWESOME? YOU KNOW WHAT’S EVEN GREATER?” Eden panted as she closed her hands into fists and stepped closer to Lily until their noses were barely touching, “You smiled. You smiled and laughed. Laughed like he wasn’t your best friend, like he was some laughing stock instead of helping him. You laughed as they stripped him and everyone saw his privates. You laughed as THE FUCKING MARAUDERS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HIM IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!” She gestured widely with her arms and she grabbed the front of Lily’s red and yellow stripped vest.

“You smiled along the joke…smiled at the fact that it was Severus’ own spell that was used to have him up there in the sky. But you think it’s okay to break off with him because he called you a ‘Mudblood’? Breaking news, he’s a halfblood so the word applies to him too, to the three of us. But that doesn’t matter right? Now you have the perfect excuse to stop hanging around him, around us just because everyone told you to. You are such a bitch that you couldn’t stand the fact that you might not be in the spotlight unless you dropped the dead weight. You saw the opportunity to grab James Potter’s attention before he got bored of you. You disgust me Evans. Never fucking talk to Severus or I.”

Eden grabbed Severus’ hand and stormed out the Great Hall with a smile on her face and could hear the breath of relief behind her.

“Holy shit.”

Once they reached the stairs, the two turned to one another. “Holy shit indeed.”

“You are quite stupid and idiotic for doing that. Although I must say I appreciate it.” Severus thanked as they began to walk down them.

“Jesus Sev, it’s just me. You ain’t gotta put on the Queen Lizzie accent. And you dropped your little shy boy act.” Eden said with a cheeky smile as she punched Severus’ arm.

“It wasn’t a act, and no I must sound proper at all times. You sound like Tobias when you speak like that.” He rolled his eyes and casted them down.

“I don’t sound like no drunk.”

“Point proven.”

“…Shut up.”

The conversation died down as they walked down the dungeons and stopped upon the dorms’ entrance, “Alright smart guy, what’s the password?”

“Ferit aliquando anguis.” The door slid open and the pair made their way inside.

Inside was fairly empty with a few first years lingering around and chatting by the windows. The pair decided to take the warmest couch rarest away from the windows and sat together for a while.

“Thank you.”

“Anytime Sev.”

It wasn’t until later when dinner was over, and Narcissa (along with Barty, Evan, William, Bruce, and Regulus) came down to the common room, that the pair realised they forgot their bags.
