There are characters in this franchise who did not let themselves be bit by a three headed dog to protect a stone or ran through the castle in their nightshirt upon hearing someone scream.
Or agreed to spy on the most dangerous person on earth withoutht gaining anything.
With the prospect of being tortured and killed if they were ever found out.
Who risked being exposed by trying to save Lupins life at the battle of the seven Potters- eventhough they hated that man.
Who ignored forbidden activities their students did so they would not be punished by the deatheaters(,the carrows).
Or who lept out of a window so they wouldn‘t have to hurt his colleagues.
And still Severus remains the most hated.
To quote another post i can‘t find anymore:
„These are not the actions of someone who does not care.“
His actions show, that he cared deeply for the safety of his students and colleagues.
And still he is treated worse that Bellatrix or Barty or Regulus or Draco or Lucius.
When he was the most caring and devoted and human all of all of them.
Make it make sense.
Actions speak louder than words.

[somewhere in a rundown apartment]
Dabi: Should I or should I not fuck the hot pro hero that is most likely a spy for the commission?
Mr. Compress: You shouldn't.
Dabi: I know right? But there's something in his eyes that's just begging for me to ride that hero dick.
Kurogiri: Dabi that is a bad idea.
Dabi: Hmm you're right. You only live once and all that. I shouldn't let this chance pass by.
Shigaraki: Fucking hell let the dumbass be. If he wants to be stabbed by an overgrown chicken then that's his choice.
Toga: He came as he died.
Dabi: *continues to sigh dreamily while posting Hawks' posters around his room*

MOMENTS BEFORE DISASTER ★ KEIGO TAKAMI
warnings: angst, arguments, slight spoilers, foreshadowing, the war arc
this is part of a series about moments that you and keigo face as a couple during the war arc. they will be posted absolutely out of order. check the masterlist for the correct order!
Tumblr media
It was a form of sick joke allowing hero fights to be displayed on television like some boxing match. It was a torturous game that the Japanese government didn’t have to play. They could sit in their cushy offices while heroes and villains go at each other's throats. Meanwhile families and significant others of these heroes and students have to be relocated for the security of their own lives. These same people who also have to wonder in fear and agony if their special ones would come home.
You can’t even remember when sending Keigo off to work was just a simple kiss on the cheek and a promise to see him when his patrol was over. You just knew that those days existed. However, you can’t feel them anymore. You can’t feel the roughness of his beard pressed against your cheek as he kissed you goodbye. Thinking about hearing his voice was no good; it sounded so distorted. There was no way to comprehend the scent of his cologne. Your brain even attempted to wash his face out of your mind as worry started to take over you. Being the partner of a hero never felt serious until that moment when you were watching every single camera pan and scene change of very real, life threatening fights. It was inhumane.
It was as if there was a little more room in the sky for a silver lining. Mercy had always found its way towards you and Keigo. He was always smart enough to outdo a villain and even slicker to find his way back to you. The small beeping of the padlock outside startled you out of your over thinking. Your eyes grew wide as the door flung open to expose a tattered Keigo.
The man sauntered intot he room with a limp. His eyes were low to the ground, but he carried a weak smile on his face as tiny wings flapped in excitement over you. The hero shut the door behind him before leaning on it, flicking gold eyes your way as he sent you a comical, toothy grin. “Hi, birdie.” it would have made your heart melt at the sight, but after what you just witnessed over the past couple of days, you were simply happy he was alive.
“Oh my God,” was muttered under your breath. It felt like the first breath you took since you turned on the television. You watched his weapons fall to the ground prior to jumping up and rushing towards him. There was no time to waste before you wrapped your arms around him and shoved your face into his neck. You could smell the cologne still lingering in his suit mixed with a little bit of sweat and the dirt of the outside world.
“Ah,” the hero seethed, loosely wrapping an arm around your waist while using his other hand to rub your upper back. “I told you not to watch those live feeds, now look at–”
His scolding went from one ear and out the other. Lifting your face out of his neck, you both met each other eye to eye. “I was worried sick about you. They wouldn’t let me watch you— the cameras kept changing to other heroes who–” you watched his eyebrows lift while you interrupted him. He knew if he didn’t try to calm you down, you would keep at your rambling. That would be good for neither of you.
Using both arms to wrap around your body, he pulled you in tighter and pressed a gentle kiss to your temple. That rough feeling brought you comfort, choosing to lean into his touch. “Come on, calm down. I’m right here, okay?” he attempted to reassure you. “How was your day?”
It was supposed to be a distraction question, like when doctors play the airplane game with babies before giving them vaccines. With the mind you had, it caught you off guard and flustered you immediately. “What?”
“How was your day?” he repeated with a smile so warm it seared your heart. Keigo noticed the agitated, confused look on your face which made him chuckle. A hand reached to the round of your cheek within the confines of his glove to give you a gentle caress. “Let’s not talk about it, pretty.”
“You seriously can’t be dismissive about this, Keigo.” your brows were stitched together, shaking your head though you couldn’t bring yourself to pull away from his hand. You could feel the tears and leftover gravel in the leather of the fabric touching your face. That alone made you buzz. It was almost surreal how you could watch him risk his life on television for the world to see but he wants to be a simple man when he gets home.
“You saw me almost get my ass handed to me. I would think you got all you needed to know,” actually no, you didn’t. The lousy camera men patrolling over all of the violence were too busy getting all of the heroes and not just the number two.
“No,“ you cooed quietly, pulling your arms from his body to carefully run your hands over his clothed abdomen slowly. “I only get a few moments to worry about you at home until you’re back in the sky again. You almost died today. I want to touch you, hold you… I wanna talk about it.” The begging in a hushed whisper made his pupils widen; it damn near altered his brain chemistry. “Come on, you don’t have to keep this to yourself. There’s no way you do.”
He wouldn’t admit it, but it was almost a drowning feeling when you worry about him. Fear for him was more unlikely than being feared by him. The hero’s throat was tightening up and his soul felt as though it was about to burst from his body. You made it so uncomfortable to just be in that moment. To avoid any emotional outbursts, he turned to his old friend. Humor. “Hold on, birdie. False alarm. Where’s all this fire coming from? You don’t gotta worry about me,” his hands lifted in defense to back down from your strong presence. He already wanted you to win this little plea that he didn’t even want to put up a fight.
There was a pain in the middle of your chest hearing such a statement. “Worry isn’t something you ask someone for,” you quip. The pain in your eyes was evident for the both of you. It forced him to look up at the ceiling with a small sigh. Maybe he was going to put up a little fight. “I don’t want to worry about you, but I do. I feel like I’m trapped here watching you get damn near assassinated on television every time you tell me you’re going out.”
“Wow, a little bit more faith in me?” He tried with you, a wide grin on his face but a raised brow. It was distasteful hearing you speak of him so illy despite caring for him. He slipped from underneath you to take off his jacket before popping it onto the coat rack directly by the door. “It’s the job,” he started calmly after kicking off his shoes. As he turned back to you, he gripped your hands to comfort you. “If you wanna touch me… hold me? Do so now because by the morning the chance will be taken away. Please just be mine tonight. I can’t try to think about it.” This wasn’t a Keigo you were used to seeing. In other sorts of conversation that went similar to this, he would cave in and give you soft kisses until you felt better. He was being defiant to the routine. Usually the small little bickering episodes you had were over silly little things, but heroism was something he cared about. He wasn’t going to let you have that so easily.
Hearing that made your face go blank. “I do have faith in you.” the atmospher around the two of you was stiff. You were insulted and he thought you were being irrational. There’s nothing that made your heart drop lower than what it did in that moment. “But don’t I get a say in this?” you could almost dig your own grave at how selfish you sounded. Keigo could pick up on it as well. His eyes went wide, meanwhile he sent you a scoff. Your emotions were clogging in your throat, making it hard to breathe as your vision began to cloud with the same scene that had been replaying before he stepped foot back into the apartment. “I,” you tried to speak before turning your back towards him as you let yourself pace along the wooden floorboards of the living room. “I can’t just see you come in and out of here with this heroic grin and not even once think about how one day the risk is going to be greater than the reward. This isn’t heroism. It’s a death wish.”
“No,” he whispered. “You don’t get a say.”
Keigo kept it simple, sending you a side eye with straight lips while walking to the bedroom you shared. In his mind you held value in many arguments but not this one. If you were picking up on his emotions correctly, he was pissed. With his feet carrying him to the bedroom, your feet did the same. This conversation wouldn’t be over until there was a resolve. The blond didn’t let you see it, but he rolled his eyes because he knew he was queued to continue speaking.
“What can I do about it now?” his posture slumped once he stepped into the room. His gloves were tossed onto the bed beside him before he turned to glare into your eyes. “You sit here and tell me what the fuck could I possibly do about it now.” it’s not as though he liked it. He spewed all the time that he wanted to live a simple life but there was nothing you or him could do about it. If he were able to be home with you, he would. You both knew that. This job that he’s been roped in was bigger than you or him. Scarred hands ran through his hair while he shuffled closer to you. “This is my job. I know you’re scared but I can’t quit. If I quit every time I see that look you’ve got on your precious face, we’d be getting nowhere with the villains.” His voice was hushed but sharp. “If I die, I’m not dying for myself, I'm not dying becuase I want to. I don’t want to die. I’m doing it for the day people can live easy lives. We can live an easy life one day.”
“You’re not doing this for me if it’s hurting me.”
“I’m doing this for you regardless of how you feel. I’ve been doing this before I even considered relationships. This isn’t something you can just change because you get a first hand glimpse of how real this shit is. If you’re uncomfortable with this lifestyle then maybe you should have considered being with a civilian.'' Keigo didn’t have an upset tone when he spoke with you. His voice was calm and his eyes were soft. Heavy fingers wrapped around your waist as he tried to give you a gentle smile. “This is what I signed up for.”
“No it isn’t,” your hands reached for his shoulders, running your thumbs into his collarbones.
“You can’t speak for me. You must’ve forgotten that I’ve been a poster child for this shit show. That doesn’t just change.” A chuckle left his lips but it was quickly stomped down by the bark of your voice.
“Keigo you were a baby!” You snapped. “A child…” you lingered, clearing your throat before stepping away. There was no way you wanted to belittle him but your words shrunk him. “You don’t even know how to live if it’s not for them. Do you?”
“I know how to handle myself.” His hands fell from you with a perplexed look in his eyes.
“You’re not as strong as you think you are, Keigo.”
“I know my strengths very well. I don’t need you to tell me what I do and don’t know about myself.” his gaze hardened while leaning in to look you directly into your eyes.
“Face it!” You begged prior to harshly running your fingers through his feathers, making him seethe. “You’re nothing without these! That fight with Endeavor and the Nomu replays in my head every chance it gets. Today only filled my mind with something different but it’s still the same thing! Without those feathers, you’re stuck to the ground flinging whatever the commission gives you as a weapon because you’re a weak puppet with a good mouth and you don’t see the problem with that.
“Watch it,” he growled.
“If you could handle it all, you wouldn’t need me— however you find me useful.”
“What are you talking about?” Keigo was growing tired of this conversation already.
“I wake up, go to work and come home. That is my life five days out of the week outside of the two off days I have to myself. But within all seven days of my life, those hours, minutes and seconds are spent with me stressed about the idea of you coming home,” you snap. “And when you do come home, you don’t want to talk about it. You don’t want to be vulnerable around me. You can’t use me as a safe haven if you’re wrecking the foundation!”
Keigo listened to you. He really did. He understood what you were saying but his brain was too filled with ego to allow you this moment. “I’m not begging you to stay,” he muttered, gripping your hands in his. “If I’m hurting you, I want you to find someone better. I love you but I don’t need you.” Ouch.
“You have no one else!” you shoved his hands away with a fierce look on your face. “I am the first and last person you talk to every day and you don’t have to blow smoke up my ass to make me stay! I do it because I love you.”
“I have been alone my whole life! I see thousands of people a day! I see people live and die every single day of my life! If you need to leave, do it.”
“Don’t tell me to leave you so you don’t have to deal with someone other than yourself,” you deafetedly trudged closer to him but his feet pulled him back.
“Back up, alright?”
“The only person who made you feel like you belong is telling you to find some fucking self awareness and you get defensive?”
“Alright, I’m done talking.” the hero dismissed you fully. As he turned from you, he made his way to the dresser to find clothes to lounge in.
“No, you don’t get to push me away when I’m telling you that I need you.”
“It’s been a long day baby. I’m tired. Either you can help me take this suit off and get some shut eye with me or cool off somewhere else.” he may be tired but it seemed as if you caught a second wind.
“Keigo!”
“Drop it! I’m not easing up on this.” His hand quickly rose in the air to cut the conversation. “The only way that would happen is if my wings were ripped from my fucking back and I pray to God that doesn’t happen to me.” his hands gripped the first drawer he pulled open, leaning down to rest his forehead onto the back of his hands. “I’m not asking you to understand. I wish I could spend more time with you. I’m sorry I make you worry and feel alone and that I can’t choose my off days. If you cannot handle being with me I need you to put yourself first and find someone that you can live an easy life with.”
“Maybe that is what’s best for me, but I’m not going to do that.”
“I love you. Just stick with me until after the war.”
“I’m tired of sticking with you when you’re not capable of sticking with me.”
There was silence in the room after your words. Keigo wouldn’t dare look at you and he could already sense the pained look on your face. He waited until you left the room to sink into a squat and collect himself.

Is genuinally shockig that I never found an animatic or an edit using Rät by Penelope Scott to represent Peter and Tony's relationship in the MCU.

My Thoughts On The Dark Izuku Arc
A popular consensus on this site and in the fandom in general is that the Dark Izuku arc was a let down. Though fans have this opinion for different reasons, I'll be using this to word vomit why I myself don't like this arc and what I personally would have done differently.
Heads up: this is a UA critical, Class 1A critical, anti Bakugou, Pro-Heroes critical post. Don't like, don't read.
When I first heard about the Dark Izuku arc, I got excited. I was hyped up to see more world building, more people in Izuki and All Might's corner regarding the secret of One For All, as well as seeing the price Izuku was paying for his self sacrificial tendancies. To a very minor degree, it delivered on those aspects. I love the bunny/fox lady that Izuku saved and how it touched on the worsening discrimination those with mutant Quirks faced, I'm glad that Izuku could finally tell other people about One For All, and I was glad to see Izuku FINALLY being told by people other than All Might that he was working himself too hard and that he could rest.
Those were the only good things this arc did for me.
As for what this arc DIDN'T do well for me, it's a lot. To break it all down, my problems with this arc are: the mixed messages being thrown out and how Izuku's point of view and wellbeing is ignored.
Just a disclaimer, I don't agree with Izuku having to put this burden upon himself. Yes, he has One For All, but he's a CHILD at the end of the day, and he should have NEVER been put in this position. HOWEVER, narratively, I completely understand why he did it.
All For One was out of Tartarus along with many other incredibly dangerous villains, and on top of all of that, AFO had Ragdoll's Search Quirk. This meant that he essentially had eyes on Izuki (and One For All by extension) 24/7. Had he wanted to, he could have launched a full-scale invasion/attack on UA, putting numerous people in danger. It was this reason as to why Izuku made the decision to leave UA in the first place. His plan to use himself as bait to lure AFO and Shigaraki out of hiding made sense narratively, but was also an incredibly dangerous one... which is why it made absolutely no sense to me why these Pro-Heroes (who are ADULTS), were fine with it.
I understand that they were in an incredibly tough position. Japan was in chaos, public trust in heroes was at an all-time low, and Tartarus just had a mass escape. Many heroes were either dying, retiring, or went over to AFO's side. They were probably stretched thin as it was, but for there to be NO ONE saying, "I really don't like this. He's just a kid, and this is incredibly dangerous for him to do. Why don't we have one or two of us traveling with him to protect him?" is just mindboggling to me.
Yes, All Might insisted on going along with him, but he was Quirkless. Physically, there wouldn't be much he could do if someone had successfully gotten the drop on Izuku.
Then, these same heroes who were seemingly completely fine with this plan get all *surprised Pikachu face* when Izuku strikes out alone and begins pushing himself to the breaking point. Yes, they tell him that he needs to take a break... but then they indirectly pressure him more by saying that he's their best and only bet against AFO and Shigaraki. At this point, Izuku is ignoring food, rest, and his injuries. At this point, they should have been putting their foot down that, "No, you're a kid and you're in no condition to be doing this anymore. You need to rest."
This keeps going and going until Izuku is overwhelmed and nearly captured by Dictator, only to be rescued by Class 1A.
Once again, Izuku's point of view and wellbeing are ignored as all 19 of his classmates corner him and start fighting him into submission. I know they had the best of intentions - they didn't want Izuku to shoulder this burden on his own, they wanted to show him that they cared - but as I said above, Izuku was NOT in the right physical or mental condition for this to happen. All it wound up doing was pushing him away from them and making him try and run away. In fact, they're lucky they didn't scare him away entirely.
What's more, they all rally behind Bakugou while doing this.
I've made my intense dislike for Bakugou clear on my blog, so I won't get into it here. But the fact that they sit by and not only allow Bakugou to blame ALL MIGHT for all of this, but also let him repeatedly insult Izuku while TRYING TO SHOW HIM THAT HE'S NOT ALONE is just infuriating. Again, Izuku is in awful shape both physically and mentally. The absolute last thing he needs to hear is Bakugou insulting him and projecting his own flaws onto Izuku.
Even worse is how the hell the teachers at UA are even okay with this?
I also understand that they're probably stretched thin as well, but they were totally okay with not just Izuku leaving, but the rest of 1A following behind him? Yeah, I call bullshit. These were the same teachers who were divided on whether or not to let the first years participate in Work-Studies, teachers who apparently regard the students at UA to be like their own children (as said in the light novels). I'll excluse Aizawa from this, seeing as how he was busy healing in the hospital.
Again, if there was more of the ethics of this being debated in universe (hell, even making the public's trust in heroes fall even lower), I would have been okay with it, because it would have been warrented.
The worst part of me is how in my opinion, the narrative itself doesn't even know how to feel about all of this.
Yes, Izuku essentially dropped out of school to go chase Japan's #1 villain. Yes, Izuku is destroying himself trying to protect everyone, and everyone's warning him not to push himself too hard... but he's getting results, GREAT results even! He's saved countless people and even defeated high-ranking villains such as Lady Nagant and Muscular, among many others. Even the Pro-Heroes are saying how Izuku is their best bet to stop AFO and Shigaraki, so which is it? Should he have stayed and let those villains run around and cause mayhem, or should he put himself in a severe amount of danger but at the cost of those villains ultimately being aprehended?
My final gripe with this arc is just how rushed it is. You're telling me that all of this took place over the course of one month? That Izuku neglected his health to the point of having to use Black Whip and Float to move around, only for it all to be made better by a bath and nap? Again, I call bullshit.
What I would have done differently with this arc is this: have Izuku leave UA without telling ANYBODY. He could still leave his letters for Class 1A, but other than that, he's gone. All Might could let the Pro-Heroes know about OFA, but they'd be trying to find Izuku and bring him into protection because as a kid, he should not even be in this position. All Might himself would also be joining them in these efforts. Izuku would spend several months aprehending villains and traveling across Japan, unlocking and mastering more parts of OFA. He could still push himself towards his breaking point, worrying the past users of OFA, but instead of the entirety of 1A swarming him, only have his closest friends come to being him back.
This brings us to UA and their reaction.
The UA teachers could finally be let in on the OFA secret, and maybe have one or two of them at a time try to find Izuku. Have them state that as students, 1A is not allowed to go out there and try to find him, as they're needed at the campus. Ochako, Ida, Todoroki, Asui, Fumikage, and Aoyama can say "fuck it, we're going anyway" and try to calmly bring him back. They can acknowledge why he left but state that, as his friends, they're not scared of being caught up in the crossfire. They can state that they'll shoulder the burden alongside him, and Izuku can still pass out and be taken to the HOSPITAL. He'd be hospitalized for a week or so and then the debate as to whether or not to take Izuku back to UA can take place. Because on the one hand... there's the whole reason he left in the first place: to protect the civillians and teachers and students there. On the other, they're not about to just throw Izuku on the streets and say "good luck. Try not to die."
For that matter, this could cause some pushback against the heroes for "using a child soldier to do their dirty work." They can truthfully say, "We don't condone this. He ran off on his own and we're trying to find him and being him back."
Anyways, that's my take on the Dark Izuku arc. I left some things out, but this is the essence of it all.

Thinking about Dexter and how his parents thought there might have been a chance of him being the Beast, and wondering what about him growing up must have made them think that it was him (opposed to Daring or any of his many cousins).
Like, I know his “I’ll help anybody who needs it” approach was presented in a “I’m not like other girls” kind of way to Raven, and his agreement that it is unfair that there are people like Raven who never get a happily-ever-after is also framed for Raven’s benefit, and that both these things are there to establish him as a potential love interest. But what if that was expanded on to give him more depth, instead of just being to flag him to the readers as the male love interest?
What if Dexter was already taking this kind of approach to how he goes about solving problems as a hero at home?
For example, what if Dexter’s first reaction to seeing a mob of goblins or orcs walking up the main entrance of Charming Castle was to go out an talk to them? (Which is potentially stupid if they’re armed, and he was almost certainly yelled at for doing it) And while he’s out there he starts thinking, “hey, maybe these people have a point their conditions aren’t fair” but he’s still got to do something about the mob to at least de-escalate the situation somewhat, and so he just... helps them unionise or form a guild? And now the group are protesting legally so you’ll have to negotiate with them instead of attacking them, dad.
This will almost certainly cause friction between him and his parents because a) he’s just walking up to a potentially dangerous group of people who are armed and angry without back-up or a weapon and that’s going to get him killed one day, they’re allowed to be worried for his safety and sanity they’re his parents, and b) that’s not how you’re supposed to heroically solve this kind of thing why can’t you be normal.
Headmaster Grimm will hate it even more because he’s probably not paying the goblin and fairy cleaning staff. He knows full well that one of the differences between Kingdom Management and Kingdom Mismanagement is whether or not you should support your employees unionising, or pay your employees a living wage. Something, something... Grimm doesn’t want people to be too good because it’ll start making him look bad.
But given Rosabella is said to be supporting a new Beast-related charity or cause every week, maybe Dexter’s destiny will be the Beast?

I said this before, but for me the best example of a real hero in the bnha universe is Iida Tensei, also known as Ingenium.
It appeared to me so stupid when Stain attacked him. It was the moment I lost respect for Stain and started considering his ideals as empty.
When they show you the recap of what Tensei used to do as a hero, you can feel he is the type of man who would have helped the villains before the villains if he had met them. He was advocated to the little things, the daily struggles, situations that can become way worse if not treated on time
Helping neglected or abused kids are not things below him, for he is not a hero of great acts and entertainment, but a hero of the people, a hero so close to you as a person that you can forget just how important pro-heroes like him are.
He was also a wonderful friend and an incredible older brother. Even after Stain, Tensei showed a level of maturity that impressed me.
Why was he considered a fake hero while All Might was regarded as a real one?
If you compare the way All Might firstly treated Deku to the way Tensei constantly talks in both the Vigilante spin-off and the main series, it hits you like a train just how much of a wonderful role model Tensei is. I don't have a single bad thing to say about him, I can't find a single one, for real.
Isn't more people like him what the hero society needs? heroic at heart and not at mind or mouth, heroic in the details and not just on tv, heroic even if no one's watching, heroic on their homes, heroic for the sake of it, because they can, because it's the right thing to do, because it's who they are.

Is horikoshi just trolling for narrative stakes now??
I mean it's good All-might lived (I think?), but after showing the bright flash of a large explosion and the fading away of All-might's vestige last chapter, only to reveal that AFO easily stopped it all before the blast even went off...
I don't really hate this completely, because it gives more merit to the villain's (especially the core Lov's) survival, but I kind of wish there wasn't this big and drawn out AFO vs All-might fight if it was going to lead to such a tame ending.
Do you think so? Or do you like how things went or ended up?
Wouldn't be the first time he trolled us like that. Need I remind you of the time AFO talked about his mole in UA while the 'camera' zoomed in Hagakure...in some room somewhere not being a mole? Or how about the cliffhanger where Nana asked if Deku could kill Tomura for her? Still mad about that one.
Although it's not like stakes weren't already launched out the window forever ago. I've mentioned how the heroes outnumber and outgun even both AFOs so that they pretty much won as soon as they got the ambush off; and AFO's plan to control Tomura has also been doomed since he broke free. The only stakes left are if Tomura & the other villains can escape Deku & the heroes to fight another day, and if any individual characters we like are gonna die.
So one the one hand; I get where you're coming from since hero deaths are the only stakes left worth worrying about (that the narrative 100% agrees should be worried about). But on the other, I guess I can't bring myself to care too much who AFO takes with him on his road to his own unwitting doom. I hardly want All Might dead either way, same as you seem to, but least of all just so it can be said that an important hero died.
Besides, it might not end too tame yet. All Might's alive, sure, but he's also in AFO's greasy hands and Bakugou's gotta save him still.

Saw the tags on the Toshinori post and do you have more to share?? Any insights? If so I’d welcome hearing them 😭 He really is so self-sacrificial and it hurts but it’s truly at the core of who he is
This has been sitting in my inbox for almost a week because I needed to make a futile effort at organizing my thoughts into something coherent--but this is as organized as they're going to get for now! Thank you so so much for the ask though bc I do love to yell about MHA <3
(Obligatory reminder that I'm watching this show in such a confusing order so if what I'm about to rant about has been addressed before and I'm harping on it unnecessarily I Am Sorry.)
(For anyone curious, this is the post btw)
SO. It feels relevant to mention that my sister and I were talking about All Might in the first place because we were talking about MHA Moments That Haunt Us. For me, it's the 'I am not here' sign hanging around the neck of the All Might statue in Kamino Ward after the Paranormal Liberation War. It literally lives in my brain rent-free 24/7 365 days a year, especially with the AM vs AFO fight being relatively fresh in my mind. The reversal of All Might's catchphrase and all it represents hurts, but to display it at the site of his 'last stand' in Kamino? That's brutal.
All Might vs All For One and how that rematch plays out is so so important to the story for so many reasons, but one of them is that the fight itself is a sacrifice. Toshinori gives everything he has, short of his life, to defeat All For One. He gives up his physical strength, his public image as the unbeatable Symbol of Peace, and, effectively his Quirk ("Goodbye, All For One. Goodbye, One For All" haunts my every waking moment, still!)
This battle is also the culmination of years of All Might's life and heroic philosophy (because Toshinori has been both practicing AND preaching self-sacrifice in the name of the greater good since we met him. It's what he thinks a hero does). Kamino is the sacrifice to end all sacrifices, if you will. Yes, he does get to walk away from the fight with AFO, but he walks away irrevocably different, almost unrecognizable. He's forced to totally change his focus and his mindset and his life. Everything he has given up is made literally visible in the deterioration of his body.
But most most importantly, All Might's sacrifice at Kamino was... all for nothing. Even if AM defeated him in that moment, All For One is free less than a year later. The world is in shambles. People are afraid, and their faith in heroes is crumbling. Heroes are afraid, and this time, they have no idealized symbol to rally behind. When Dostoevsky wrote "Your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing," he was talking about All Might btw.
Toshinori gave this fight (and his career, and being All Might) everything he had, and it still wasn't enough. He sacrificed so much of himself, and so much of how he perceived himself and his purpose, and he didn't even save the world. He just bought them time--and not much of it. I think that's why he's so desperate to keep fighting, no matter the cost, no matter what condition he's in--even 'quite literally half-dead.' He can't let Kamino be the Symbol of Peace's final stand, because Kamino was ultimately for nothing. Instead of saving the world, it has been reframed through the sign on the statue as All Might abandoning the world. And ever since then, he's been scrambling to prove that he is still here.
(There's also probably something here about Sir Nighteye telling him that he was going to die. Since Nighteye used his Quirk on him, Toshinori has been anticipating sacrificing his life for good. Knowing that his entire hero career is effectively a fight to the death has probably maximized his self-sacrificial tendencies.)

Pain is all you felt. But you were alive.
You wake up feeling something on your face lifting your right arm to your face you see it entirely covered in bandages. Pulling the mask off you sit up slightly wincing a bit from the pain in your ribs, you see IVs and needles in your wrist and you rip them out hissing from the pain. Slinging your legs over to the end of the bed you feel much lighter, pushing yourself up you see the bathroom door is open and you look at yourself. Your hair was slightly shorter but not noticeable to others but to you...you could tell the length difference when it was burned, your entire right arm was covered in bandages down to your fingers, you had a bandage wrapped around your head, and there were butterfly bandages over your right eye and you could see a cut going through your eye you lucky you weren’t blinded by it, and there was a gauze pad under your left eye, your neck was covered in dark purple bruises in the shape of hands, and from the top of the hospital shirt, you could see bandages wrapped around your entire torso and back covering where your wings would be.
Whose fault was it, was it the villains they put everyone through so much pain, Dabi especially, could you blame the commission they told you to go there and you did like the good soldier you are? Could you blame the heroes, none of this would have happened if the League was beaten in Kamino ward, you wouldn’t have these wounds if Endeavor raised his son right, and you wouldn’t even be here if Endeavor never arrested your potential father. It was Endeavor’s fault it would always lead back to him. You slipped out of your room blending into the people passing by, no one noticing a regular injured girl, you didn’t have anything special about you.
Passing by the main desk you heard them talking about the heroes here, “Yeah Endeavor is in room 325, if you want to give him the medicine now or wait later I believe he has visitors.” You don’t wait another moment seeing you were a floor below him entering the elevator you press the button to the next floor and as the doors are closing you hear.
“We have a missing patient Y/n Takami was not in her room!” Takami, you weren’t a Takami. The doors open up and you slip out this floor equally as busy as the one you were on so you didn’t stand out, you see a sign that gives you the direction towards Endeavor’s room. As you walk past doors, you see names of other heroes scribble on the whiteboard for their room. You see the number counting towards 325, and now you're in front of it. Room 325 Enji Todoroki.
You hear voices inside talking and you hear Todoroki’s voice “Once you’re done grieving, stand back up. Cuz we all have to stop Touya.” And you slide open the door and the Todoroki and family turn to see you standing there but your eyes are dead set on Enji Todoroki.
You close the door behind you and it’s quiet between all of you, “Hope I wasn’t interrupting something important.” You say and you see Endeavor looking over you grimacing knowing all these injuries came from his son.
“Excuse me you can’t be here.” A woman with white hair says, stepping forward towards you,
“Rei it is alright.” Endeavor says and the woman stops before standing down.
“Takami-” “That’s not my name.” You spit out glaring at him, you didn’t know who you are anymore. Your world was torn apart and you didn’t know how to pick up the pieces.
“L/n I’m sorry for what you went through.” He says and you want to laugh, cause his apology doesn’t mean shit to you.
“You’re sorry? Do you know what he did to me?” You say stepping forward and Todoroki put his hand out in front of you so you couldn’t get closer to his father. He wasn’t worried you were going to hurt him you weren’t stupid but he didn’t want to make the situation worse.
“Who?” A girl with white hair with red streaks says you knew her. Todoroki talked to you about his older brother Natsuo who was looking at you wary and his sister Fuyumi, and you were going to assume Rei was his mother.
“Dabi or Touya whatever you call him. You have no idea what I went through and your sorry doesn’t mean shit.” You say looking back at Endeavor. “He has stalked me since I joined U.A. and I only found out about this when we finally fought. It was him during battle, he followed me everywhere and took pictures of me. He would say comments about how I looked even when I was home. I wasn’t safe even in my own home. That call I had to take during my work studies was him. He threatened to kill everyone, the people I cared for, my classmates, anyone if I didn’t listen to what he said,” You felt your throat tighten and you saw that the entire Todoroki family was horrified, Fuyumi had a hand over her mouth, Natsuo and Shoto looked disgusted by their brother’s action, Rei couldn’t look at you only thinking of the worst things her son did to you, and Endeavor stared at you and you could see the guilt and regret in his face.
“I thought everything would be okay until I messed up, I missed one call..one and you know what he did was kill an innocent family because I didn’t pick up. Their blood is on my hands because of him. I’m sixteen Endeavor sixteen I never had a life, never knew my mom, never knew my dad. But my life didn’t get better. At the Villa we fought and I lost and he took the sweet pleasure of torturing me until I had nothing left, before taking me. All these injuries on me I didn’t get from any other villain except him...your son.” You felt tears streaming down your face. All this trauma you earned seeing so much death and destruction just followed you in life. “I don’t care about your family problems of who doesn’t like who and what he did to someone else. I just want to let you know Endeavor that you ruined my life by having him as a son.” You wiped the tears off your face harshly and you saw that he was crying.
“I’m sorry I’m so sorry.” He wipes the tears from his face and you can’t even look at him, look at any of them you only see Dabi in them all.
You turn to leave your hand on the door, you turn to look for him, “You say you’re going to defeat him, you're wrong. I’ll find him and then. Then I'll kill Touya Todoroki.” The door opens and you see in front of you a few doctors and nurses as well as a couple of police officers, but standing to the side you see Best Jeanist and Hawks.
“Ms.Takami you can not go running off, we thought the worst happened.” A doctor says but you drown out most of it hearing that name Takami. Takami was a villain, he is bad, you're not bad, you're a hero, you're nobody now without your quirk. You're nothing, nobody, you’re Takami. You feel a hand go around your wrist and you feel like you're sent back to your days in training at the commission.
“Someone grabs your wrist, what do you do?” You hear Ms.Takeda clear as a bell in your ear as she walks around you as another recruit holds your wrist down.
“Get out of their grasp, by any means necessary, and escape.” You say and she leans her face next to your ear and whispers,
“Then do it..” You feel like the flight and fight kicking in, the fighting mode coming in as you twist your wrist out of their grasp and you feel the bone snap and they scream out in pain as you push past the nurses and doctors booking it towards the stairs. You see some of the officers rushing toward you but you slide between one of their legs and as you pass by you slam your hand on the fire alarm. Best Jeanist can’t properly use his quirk if he is distracted, and the rush of people getting out does it. You feel an arm land on your shoulder.
“Fight them” You can hear her voice call out in your head and you spin around twisting their arm, flipping their body over yours. It was a police officer and you see keys coming flying out of his pocket and you scoop it up pushing the doors open in the stairwell.
“Takami! Y/n!” You hear voices yell after you but all you could hear was your heartbeat in your ears and Ms. Takeda’s voice whispering in your ears, fight, get out, you’ll disappoint the commission if you fail. People are rushing down the stairs as you shove your way down as well and you could hear voices following after you, busting through a door onto a random floor it is mostly empty people going the way you came.
A nurse rushes past you and you snatch the keycard off her continuing your way down the hallways you lost your slippers a while ago your feet slapping against the linoleum as you run. The doors are closing due to the fire alarm so you are constantly using the keycard to get through the doors. As you look for exit signs you turn the corner crashing into someone and sending you both back. Getting up you stare back at your mentor, a person you called an almost brother.
“Let’s not do this kid, just stop.” He holds up his hands showing you he means no harm. There was no way out instead of in front of you and behind you and the doors close behind you and you rather go forward with your keycard where you see the shiny red exit to the outside.
“He betrayed the commission, he left you.” her voice comes through your head and the person in front of you is no longer a partner but an opponent.
“You betrayed the commission.” You say and Hawks is confused.
“I know you feel scared and confused but they already did the test, you are a Takami. I don’t know why but the commission lied to you but they did.” He holds out his hand smiling at you. “We can figure it out together, I’ve always seen you as a little sister.” They already took the test.
“You’re infected by his blood, Takami dirt runs through you.” You shake your head, you don’t want to be dirt, you’re normal, you’re L/n.
“I’m not Takami.” You yell out rushing towards him and you both get ready to fight. You throw punches toward him which he blocks. You keep pushing him back as you are trying to stop him while he is trying not to hurt you.
He pushes you back and you slide on the floor, “I don’t wanna hurt you!” He yells and you run to him you feel something tear but you push through wrapping your legs around his neck you spin around flipping him onto his back. While he may be faster and more powerful, you were always more agile and better at hand-to-hand combat. You hiss in pain pressing your hand against your ribs pulling back and seeing red.
“Keep fighting Halo, you’ll be home soon.” Ms. Takeda calls out and you turn to rush outside when you see police officers there and nurses and doctors. The officers point their guns at you, “They’ll shoot you for failing.” Her voice whispers in your head. Arms wrap around your waist and you kick your legs up trying to get out of their grasp.
“Let me go..I wanna go home!” You cry out twisting in their grasp and you feel a pinch in your arm. You see a needle leaving your arm and your limbs feel ten times heavier. “Please stop! I wanna go home...let me go home.” You cry out tears streaming down your face and you feel more sluggish as you're lowered to the ground. Your body gets weaker as the doctors and nurses come over.
“Shush you’re okay..I’m here..” Keigo soothes you as you slowly lose consciousness.
Opening your eyes you see you’re in a dark room sitting up surrounding you is nothing but unending darkness. The floor was covered in a thin layer of water that didn’t seem to wet you.
“You failed Halo.” A voice says and you turn around and it was a woman that you’ve never seen before. She had long white hair that ended around her chest, her eyes were the same color as yours. You have never seen this woman before but the feeling you felt around her seemed familiar, almost comforting.
“Everything we did for you and you failed us all.” She says. You open your mouth to speak but no words come out. “You were supposed to be the one..it was supposed to be you.” Chains appear from the ground wrapping around your hands and legs dragging you down as the floor takes you under like quicksand. Stop it, who are you, come back! You try to scream but nothing comes from your mouth. The last look you get of the woman is a tear rolling down her face as you disappear.
The sound of a machine beeping pulls you from your dream, you feel immensely sore and weak. The harsh lights make you close your eyes, you wait a few seconds before opening them, getting used to it. You feel weighed down trying to lift your hand but you are restricted. You lift your head slightly seeing your arms restrained to the bed so you couldn’t escape. Closing your eyes you wish your life was just a dream and you thought of your memories from U.A. and with your friends, were they even alive? The door opens interrupting your thoughts and you see a doctor as well as Keigo.
“Afternoon Ms.Tak...Y/n.” The doctor stops himself from saying the name sticking with your first name, “How are you feeling?” He pulls out a clipboard looking over your vitals on the EKG before looking at you. You frown, turning your head away from them looking out the window to the outside.
You hear the doctor sigh, writing something down, “Y/n I’m going to bring down our best psychologist for you to talk with if that is okay with your brother?”
“He’s not my brother.” You say and you can feel the two gazes on you as you continue to stare outside.
“I’ll leave you two alone, Hawks there will be some paperwork you’ll need to sign.” The doctor says and you hear a hum before footsteps go and the door opens then closes. It is silent between you two with the only sound coming from the heart monitor.
“You know you can talk to me about anything, you know that?” Keigo says and you remain silent you can’t even bear looking at him all you see is pain and abandonment. “I don’t know what’s going on in your head, but I’m here for you, and so are you, friends at U.A.” He tries to get you to say anything and show anything that you're there but there is only silence. The relationship you two once had is now splitting apart and he’s holding out his hand but you refuse to take it.
Later in the day the doctor came back and got your restraints removed as he deemed you not a threat to others and yourself and following that the psychologist the doctor was talking about showed up. She had introduced herself telling a bit about herself telling you she specialized in cases involving children or teenagers following traumatic events. It was you, the lady, and Keigo in the room as she asks you questions about your life asking questions about your childhood, and your life at the commission, and you either respond with vague one-word answers or no answer at all.
“Okay Y/n how would you describe your environment at U.A. with your classmates and teachers?” She asks, looking over her notes.
“Fine, they’re nice.” You mumble and she nods
“How the environment at the commission would you say it is better or worse?” Your life at the commission had been harsh and cold, you didn’t wake up early for role-call you didn’t eat, you spoke out of turn you fight one of the higher trainers, and any defiance they saw as out of line was solved with punishment until they molded you to be the perfect soldier they wanted.
“It’s cold there..” You say and she looks up at you finally getting something she could work with.
“Why was it cold there?” They made you who you were today, you should be grateful. Why then do you gain scars from them?
“Just was..” You shrugged, you didn’t know what to say, there was nothing fun to do, joy entered that building and died in there.
“At the commission when Hawks wasn't there, who looked after you?”
“Takeda did.” You say, she was always there. Telling you what was right and wrong. What the commission finds values and what is deemed worthless, “She was always there for me.” She would soothe your tears when you cried almost motherly before flipping around telling you that you wouldn’t cry if you weren’t weak and then send you off for more training.
“Hawks says that she was also the one who made you get hurt after your first day of school.” It seems so long ago since your first day of school after that incident when you were forced to fight you would make sure they hit you in places that would be hidden by your clothes or that would heal fast.
“I failed..and I got what I deserved.” You say weakly every mistake you made faced punishment, if you were so good you wouldn’t get hurt.
“Beating a child to follow orders isn’t a normal thing.” She says and you feel confused, why did they do it then? That’s how it works you mess up you fight, that’s how it’s always been.
“I wanna go home..” The doctor hums writing something down.
“Just a couple more questions then we’ll see.” She flips through her notes before looking back up at you. “What happened when Dabi started following you?” You froze hearing his name and it felt like the air suddenly got thinner. “He followed you and threatened you with your friends and family, how did that make you feel?”
You didn’t know what to say, everything felt choked up. “I-I don’t know..” You say your hands felt clammy and the beating up the heart monitor picks up speed.
“He killed people for you doing horrendous things for you and you don’t know?” She says and you felt like the walls were closing in on you.
“Okay let’s move on from this subject.” Keigo says seeing your fearful expression.
“Do you know if he killed any other people? You both talked plenty of times you should know.” She got more aggressive and you shook your head. You didn’t want to talk about this.
“Okay that’s enough!” He stands up going to remove the doctor.
“Innocent people died because of you! They had normal lives and are dead, you ever think about that!” She yells at you and now there are doctors and nurses inside the room pulling out the psychologist while some are trying to calm you down, the heart monitor beeping erratically. Tears are streaming down your face as you cover your ears wanting to drown out the words she says. “Their blood is on your hands, you’re covered in it!” She is pulled out of the room, her voice muffled outside.
You feel yourself choke out a sob, you can’t seem to get air in as you begin to panic getting sent into a full-blown anxiety attack. As people are trying to calm you down as you can’t seem to get air in you, black dots spot your vision. The last thing you see before passing out is Keigo’s concerned face, tears brimming his eyes.
When you woke up you were told that the psychologist was a close family member of the family that Dabi had killed. You were visited by another psychologist and that went much better though you were standoffish from the last one. You spent a total of a week at the hospital from when you first arrived and when you were able to leave after you reopened your stitches for your ribs. You were distant with most people coming to talk to you only saying a few words here and there, you had completely ignored Hawks your entire stay there.
Returning to the Agency was a bit weird, it was practically empty and the few heroes there were being called out to calls. Everyone was being pulled in two different directions with how much villains are doing to Japan. Keigo is quickly pulled away by people as they need their boss’s help leaving you though it didn’t bother you. Pushing open the door to your home it was as if time stood still, stuff from the night before the battle was still there, your books for school were opened up on your coffee table homework was not finished. Going into your room, your bed was unmade and a few things stray across your room. Sitting down slowly onto your bed felt weird being back at your bed instead of that hospital bed. Laying on your back and looking up at your ceiling reminds you about your missing wings, due to them you usually slept on your side or your stomach but it felt different.
You heard a noise coming from your nightstand and your phone was still plugged in from that morning, pulling it off the stand you see multiple texts from your friends asking how you were and all that. You are relieved that they were all alive, though many of your classmates were injured they were still here. You didn’t respond to the messages but they could tell you were okay when they see the “read” message. You see a final message on your phone and it was from the commission.
“Halo it seems you need some reviewing.” You didn’t feel fear or worry from the times they texted you before it was just indifference now, what would they do to you now to make you comply you have nothing for them to hold over you. Everything you’ve known was a lie no matter how much you try to avoid and deny it, you were Y/n Takami daughter of Shinyo Takami, sister to Keigo Takami. Thinking back to the brief memory you had of your father you wonder why you didn’t realize he was your brother or at least a relative, but you two didn’t look much alike. Maybe a few things if you focus but your different quirks kinda sealed that you had no relation. Just two people with wing quirks.
The next few days after your return home was spent catching up with everything, you watched the news and read every news channel following the war at Jaku City and Gunga Mountain Villa. Shigaraki was able to escape the battle with multiple Nomus along with Dabi and Spinner, Toga was missing along with many paranormal liberators all on the run, also Tartarus was breached unleashing many villains including One for All, and many villain prisons were all breached and many villains now ran rampant in Japan. Borders were closed and no one was allowed to leave or enter Japan leaving you all on this island in the hands of the police, government, and heroes. There was a press conference one day that includes Best Jeanist, Endeavor, and Keigo to address the public about the events involving Dabi and his family’s past life. Keigo clarifies his time as a spy for the League and the stuff he did while there including killing Twice, you heard your name but you shut off the TV before you could hear more.
So the public was in disarray and heroes weren’t doing much help for the matter. The pristine hero society you grew up with and were forced to maintain was crumbling revealing the corruption and backstabbing leaving you with more pieces to pick up and fix. It was with this news your life now meant nothing, you had a family that you never knew about that you want to connect with, a mass murder that ruined your life still off doing who knows what, and the foundation of your entire existence was destroyed. With the hero society, you’re something, with quirks you’re important. Now you’re nothing. Your hero name Halo meant a lot to you, you held it with pride and now it is nothing more than a name. Halo was you, you have named it due to your quirk, wings that resemble that of an angel, and who were you now? A fallen angel stripped of its wings and sent down to the damnation of earth.
Hero society damned you the day you decided to become one. Your revelation seems to go through the stages of grief. Denial, you didn’t want to believe your life was a lie. Anger, you fought and ran from your problems to forget who runs through your blood. Bargaining, you prayed to any higher being to go back to your old life happy with friends as you trained to be a hero. Depression, you had nothing left now and you had no will to go on with what you lacked. And Acceptance, you had to come to terms with who you were and you were going to get back what you lost for a long time. But you wanted to add one more, everything started for a reason, the loss of your parents, your life in the commission, the pain and suffering you went through to become a hero, and how it was all stripped away Heroes...Villains, there couldn’t be one without the other, good and evil, morally right and lack of morals, they were opposites destined to always fight in a never-ending circle and where does that leave you? In the middle, you want to save those you care for, but you are willing to break your morals for the sake of getting what you need...and that is Revenge.
It was almost midnight when you entered the commission, you wore dark clothing, the hoodie covering your face from the cameras in the building. It was quiet and empty which was strange but you are still on edge as you head towards the handlers’ offices you see one of the office lights is on and it sounds like someone is frantically moving around. You crept down the hallway seeing it is Ms.Takeda’s room, her back is to the door as she frantically stuff files from a filing cabinet into her purse, your walk into the office your footsteps are silent. Reaching under the desk you pull a handgun you knew was there when you snuck into her room once.
You were eleven and your teacher took away the book you were reading instead of focusing, you hid under her desk when you heard her walk in and that’s when you saw the gun strapped under the table. You were caught and punished severely but you were always fearful that if you angered her that weapon would be turned on you. The click of the gun made her freeze in place mid-shove and she slowly turns around seeing you pointing a gun at her.
“Halo what do you think you’re doing?!” She is shocked that her ward turned against her.
“Just need a few answers from you.” You say pointing the gun towards her office chair and she took hesitant steps before sitting down. “Did you know about my past life before the commission?” You say and she nods.
“We went looking for you once we found out your father had another child. It would be better to have you and Hawks together than one of you finding your origin and finding each other.” She explains.
“Where are my father and mother? Are they even alive?” You demand.
“We kept close eyes on them both but your father disappeared from our radar somewhere in Japan and your mother...she passed away a few years ago.” You felt your heartbreak, your chance of finding them dwindle, your father is somewhere in this villain-ridden Japan and your mother was dead. “Please Halo, let's be smart about what led you here. Just put the gun down and we both can forget about this.” She tries to calm you down, seeing your finger fiddle with the trigger before you point it back at her.
“You have files on me, get them out.” You point the gun towards the filing cabinet and she hesitates, ”NOW!”
She jumps rushing over to it, her hands shaking as she puts the key in and opens it scrolling through the files before pulling out a decent size folder. She hands it to you sitting back down very fearful of her life, opening it up you see a photo of you as a child. The first page gave your full name, Y/n Takami. Your age when you joined and all descriptions of you from your height and weight then and now. In the description for the family, it says Father-Shinyo Takami (Missing), Brother-Keigo Takami (Alive), and Mother-M/n L/n (Deceased). As you glance over you see one section, implant impairing enhancements continue if the commission decides Halo will not become a hero implant may be removed.
“What do you mean implant, why would the commission decide if I won’t become a hero.” You point the gun toward her and she cringes.
“They place an implant into your body to track you as well as restrict your enhancements. The commission gives each prodigy it, giving them increased strength, stamina, speed, and durability; they all get it removed until they are deemed ready; many don’t get it removed.” She says no matter how much we trained we always could have been better, where they were getting the enhancements from this stuff can’t be legal.
“And the other stuff.” You say,
“Yes the higher-ups deemed you useful in hero work, but they were going to make you do more underground work if you had a more refined quirk like Hawks. We believed you would have more similar quirks but when you failed to show more progress that project was stopped.” She says. Underground work they were going to make you do their dirty work with your life in the shadows cleaning up the mess the commission left behind, the place where heroes are born is just as corrupt.
“What were they going to make me do?” You say your voice was shaking and angry at everyone.
“I don’t know much but let’s just say you would be cleaning and removing people that were a threat to the hero society. They had everything prepared for you to take that role.” She says,
“So make me kill people.”
Takeda stands up walking slowly over to you, “Halo your mission was always to keep that image of hero society perfect, this way was just a different approach.”
You raise the gun before she could touch you, “You say they already had it finished, show me it.” She couldn’t exactly say no and she led you out of the office down towards the support area with the gun pressed against the back so she wouldn’t do anything.
Entering the support area is where you got your hero costume and most of your health exams took place as well. You walk through one of the doors where there are lines of lockers, pressing her I.D card against the keypad and typing a code the locker slides open.
“There we’re here. Please just let me go.” She begs turning around to face you, a small voice tells you to hurt her, get your revenge. She hurt you and you didn’t know better. Raising the gun to her face she cries out holding her hands up, “Please Halo, you’re a hero you won’t do it.” Looking into her eyes you see the utter fear in her eyes.
“I’m not a hero anymore.” You swing the side of the gun across her temple and she collapses to the ground. Putting the safety on you tuck the gun in the back of your pants taking the keycard off her as well as her car keys. You walk back into the main room seeing a large duffle bag, heading back to the locker you shove everything into the bag leaving, as you get ready to leave you see a video feed of your training pulled up, it was when you fought after your first day of school. Thinking back at it you then realize how the League was able to figure you out when everyone disappeared in mud it didn’t hit you then but they had to have been Twice’s quirk. You head back towards Takeda’s office, grabbing the file off the desk and getting ready to leave the building.
As you pass by doors you see a familiar door written across your name ‘Halo’, you pause in front of the door remembering spending the past five years here before joining Hawks Agency. Pushing the door open the smell of dust fills your nose, it was like no one went in here. It wasn’t all that just the basic dresser to hold your clothes and your bed that faces the window showing the outside world. You remember staying up late looking at the skies, imagining yourself flying in the sky, the wind blowing through your hair. Sometimes you would hear a tap on the glass and you would see Keigo outside smiling and waving at you. He would always come to your window before heading down to properly greet you. How you wish you were back to having those simple dreams, turning to leave your foot hits something. You look down seeing the small Hawks plushie you had when you were younger, you had such great memories with the small toy, pretending you were fighting villains with him and every time you both would save the day. Picking it up seeing it was a little dirty from being in this room for five years you put it in your bag.
The cold air outside greets you once you leave the commission, almost kinda freeing everything that was hidden from you in the file. You drove home in Takeda’s car ditching it a few blocks away before walking the rest, the Agency is empty and quiet when you enter so you can easily head upstairs to your room. You close and lock the door behind you heading straight to your room, locking your bedroom door as well. You place the duffle bag on your bed and you open it up grabbing the file you take the handgun from your pants before putting it inside the bag underneath the bed. Sitting on your bed you open up the file trying to get as many important details and information as you would need.
You see there are pages dedicated to your progress in training with others and with Keigo as well. ‘Age 11: Halo is in contact with Hawks and seems to have a compatible relationship. Implant and enhancements went smoothly, cells were not hostile to Formula-2XE. Age 12: Halo is improving at a much faster rate than the others, faster than even Hawks did. Though has some defiance in her. Age 13: She is able to take down an adult male double her size. Skills in hand-to-hand combat and mastery in weaponry such as staff-wielding, knife throwing, and firearms are improving as well. Halo seems to favor combat with staff with her quirk. Age 14: Halo is a high opponent in her training and her classes. Thoughts of underwork missions when older will need to see more in her quirk. Age 15: Halo did well in her exams with the higher-ups but due to her quirk only being a mutation-type it is unsuitable for underground missions. Lacks any similarity to Hawks’ quirk except wing mutation, the mother’s quirk is unknown. Halo will later be under watch by Hawks, application to U.A. has gone through and will be joining next year.’ There were more details with pages dedicated to each year you were in the commission but you were more interested in the implant and what this formula is.
Flipping through the file you see it. Project NewGen was a project that the Hero Commission founded after All Might fought All for One for the first time. All Might was badly injured but continued hero work though not as efficiently, in case All for One did return stronger heroes were needed. After much trial and error from failed patients in an off-site location Formula-2XE was successful. 2XE grants the user increased stamina, strength, speed, and durability and increases the power of the user's quirk. 2XE was given to only the proteges of the Hero Commission, to limit the use of 2XE an implant was created, placed three inches into the left bicep. When a prodigy is proven ready they will have it removed. No protege has gotten the implant removed as deemed not ready. There was also a list of who had gotten the implant and you saw it was a huge number of heroes, you recognize some as trainers or people part of the commission you also see Keigo’s name, and your right after it, after yours however it says discontinued. Did they run out or did something happen to the formula? Continuing to read you see more stuff involving it. 2XE was given to each protege with the dosage getting stronger as it was given more testing with you having the highest dosage running through you but restricted with the implant. Formula-2XE was discontinued after a possible leak of the factory location. Last dose given to Y/n Takami (Halo). Then it was finished and there was nothing more after it was discontinued. How many heroes that used to be part of the commission had this implant in them was it a bad thing to keep it hidden, if we could all be stronger and faster heroes could have done much more in the world.
You feel sleep lulling you to go to bed so you close the file slipping it under your bed before crawling under the blankets letting sleep take over. When you woke up it was almost noon but you did fall asleep around one in the morning so your late start made sense. Getting up, you shower, and put on the medicine for the scars on your arm, face, and ribs so they wouldn’t hurt as much. You wrap bandages around your arm so the medicine wouldn’t get on your clothes and you place some on your ribs. You could see your back from the mirror, it had the most treatment with the healers so while your wings would come back in a while it just looks like there were two large scars between your shoulder blades where they used to be. You spent the day locked up in your room reading through the files trying to create a game plan, you need to figure out who you were.
Even if it meant leaving your life behind. If you tried to go to the heroes it would only take time and you wouldn’t get anywhere and you already had to find Dabi in Japan and defeat him. You know if you try to explain to them why you’re leaving it would make you feel guilty and you might not leave and if you tell them what you’re planning to do they might be able to find you. Your main goals were finding your father and finding Dabi, he was last seen with Shigaraki at Jaku but with the escape of All for One you don’t want to deal with him just Dabi. You also need to find your father. He was last seen in Hosu before disappearing, you would have to work hard to find him, he was a murderer and thief for years he’ll be able to hide if he needs to. You got a message from both Keigo and a message from Mina.
You open the one from Hawks, “Hey kid I know I haven’t been by often but how about we go to that restaurant that you like? You can always say no, that's fine just let me know. I’ll always be there for you no matter what.” A tear lands on the screen and wipes your face before any more can fall, you don’t respond heading to see what Mina texted,
“Hey Y/n we all miss you at U.A. please visit us when you can even if you just wanna talk <3” Their messages tempt you to just drop this ridiculous idea and just seek comfort from them but you know you can’t back down now.
You stop at the convenience store, grabbing a first aid kit, and as you are heading to check out you grab a box of hair dye that is much darker than your hair color. Paying in cash the cashier barely glances at you and you head home. Locked up in your bathroom you look much different now you have dyed your hair a much darker color and you cut it. Your hair is much shorter from when it was burned but with the not terrible but not good haircut, you gave yourself you would be that recognizable.  (If your hair is black or already really short, leave the length the same or you dyed your hair lighter)
Drying your hair, you look over to the first aid kit open, and you take out some gauze, tweezers, numbing spray, and disinfectant spray. You also grab an x-acto knife to use. You find out the area where the implant is. It was a lot of squeezing around your arm before you felt it, it was probably as big as a toothpick. You spray the area you’re about to cut with disinfectant, killing the germs on you and then numbing spray. Removing the knife from the hot running water you spray it with disinfectant and then bring it to your arm, you feel knots form in your stomach as the x-acto knife touches your skin not digging in. You press down, wincing feeling it cut into your skin, just three inches in.
You drag the knife a bit longer than the implant along your skin, blood is covering the blade, and some roll down your arm onto your sink. Placing the blade down you take a deep breath before bringing your fingers around the cut feeling where the implant is and pushing it so it gets closer to the surface. You hiss in pain, closing your eyes as your arm begins to burn, you see a metal tube slightly and you grab the tweezers. Pressing them into your open cut you are trying to grab at the implant, you feel the tweezer hit something so you grab onto it and pull it. You drop the tweezers and implant onto a tray grabbing the sink as you try to breathe through the pain. Grabbing some wipes you clean up the blood on your hands and arm. Placing some butterfly bandages across the cut so it could heal together placing a large bandage around your arm. You pick up the implant it was completely metal and you saw it had a red flashing light. Dropping the implant, you crush it under your shoe and you throw it out in the trash. You start to clean up the first aid kit and the bathroom when you feel lightheaded.
You head back into your room looking at your clock seeing it was about 4 pm when you are hit with a wave of dizziness and you stumble to your bed collapsing passing out. Your dreams are empty just you sitting back in that dark room again, water covering the floor.
You are chained to the floor unable to move, you could hear someone call to you but you couldn’t do anything to figure out who it is and where it was coming from. When you woke up you felt like you are in a slight sugar rush, your senses seemed heightened and you felt different. Looking over at the clock you were only out for an hour, pushing your body up you head to the kitchen to grab something to eat. When your hand pulls on the door and you hear a loud rip, looking down you see the doorknob was in your hand. Your jaw drops. I guess I understand why the commission decided not to remove the implants from the proteges. Placing the doorknob on your dresser you slowly walk over to the kitchen afraid you were going to go speeding into a wall but end up sliding into the couch. You make all your movements extra slow and make some instant ramen before sitting down on the couch and turning on the news.
The constant coverage is on villains attacking the city and how heroes were stretched thin not able to cover all of Japan. The more you spent locked here the harder it was going to be to find Dabi and your father. It was dark when you went back to your room. You pull the duffle back from underneath your bed, and open it up, taking out the clothes and items inside. You see it was a costume much different from your original hero costume as well as other weapons.
Stripping your clothes leaving you in a sports bar and spandex shorts you pull on the outfit. You got dressed seeing each part of the costume it is a black halter top cropped top along with dark gray pants, it came with a belt attached to an upper thigh holster where you put the gun in strapping it in place, along with black boots that ends a bit above your ankle that was just part of it. It seems convenient that there weren't slots for your wings almost as if they knew you would lose them. You see that there was a small tech device and when you press on it wraps around your right arm in a full sleeve connecting to the shirt. There was gold and black scale plating on your forearm, your hand is also covered by a glove. It seems to have a cooling factor and it felt nice against the scars covering your arm. Your left arm has a long fingerless glove ending right before your elbow. Over top there is a sleeveless cloak that ends right at your knees in the front and a bit longer in the back, the pattern crossing each other. The cloak includes a hood and built into it is a mask to cover the bottom of your face. You are also given a vest that seems to be made of kevlar; bulletproof. Lastly, there is a belt going over the cloak. It had pouches that you fill with first aid and some cash that you had on you, the belt had another holster for a weapon on the side of your waist as well as a larger one at the back. (Outfit)
Looking in the mirror you are covered completely in blacks and grays except for the few highlighting details from the arm brace and from the inside of the cloak being a dark magenta color. You go back to your bed seeing two weapons, a decent size knife, the blade was intricate, curving towards the handle in sharp curves so if you stab someone when pulling back out it will do more damage. You holster the blade in the other holster as that is the one it was supposed to go to. The other one is a large staff that had black wrapping around where you would hold it for grip and right in the middle a silver metal band. You see in the middle of a set of three buttons two on one side of the staff and one on the other. Pressing down on both of the outer ones and blades coming out from the end of it the same blade shape as the knife, you press on the button closer to the middle the staff splits apart becoming two weapons just like at the Villa when Dabi burned your staff in half. Pushing the staff together it became one and you pressed the outer buttons and the blades went in. You place the staff in the back holster looking at the complete look. You look much different now, your costume and quirk made you seem innocent and pure-hearted but with the new costume and your new look, you look like the complete opposite.
Grabbing your phone you head out to the hallway now heading towards Keigo’s office, you blend into the shadows most of the cameras not ever picking up your movements. You enter the empty office, the lights from the city outside giving a faint light to the room. You knew the cash on you wouldn’t be much for you to last so while you're already on the morally corrupt side you head towards the safe in his office. He already has plenty of money. He won't miss it, moving the painting you see the safe in the wall, let’s hope this super strength works. Pulling your fist back you slam it against the safe denting it, grabbing onto the handle you pull the door clean off dropping it on the floor. You see enough cash to last you a while but you only fill what one pocket can hold. There is some left but you don’t want to weigh it down much as it would be spent on food and places to stay. You look back at the office, you spent many days sitting in a chair next to his desk doing schoolwork the commission gave you when you were over here as he did paperwork. You head to his desk and you see a photo next to his computer, it was a photo of the two of you the first day you were able to live here. You had a big goofy smile on your face and Keigo had his arm wrapped around your shoulder and a grin on his face as well. Though you told yourself you weren’t going to write anything you write a quick note before placing something on the desk, leaving the office then sneaking out of the Agency leaving your home behind.
With your enhanced self, you were able to run over to U.A. not feeling winded at all jumping over buildings as you feel the wind push the hood off your face. With the heightened security, you see a truck coming towards the campus and you hop in the back and they drive right onto the campus and you're safe. You jump out rolling a bit from your landing, before running over towards Heights Alliance. The lights to the dorms as off only the outdoor lights illuminate your path towards the door, pushing the door open as you enter the building, the glow from the moon giving a faint light through the window. The couches were still pushed together from the Hot Pot and you felt a bit of nostalgia, remembering studying with your classmates or the few times you hung out with them, you remember one time you stole a bag of chips that was Bakugo though you didn’t know when he asked if those were his chips anger written on his face.
You grabbed the last chip from the bag, finishing it by crumpling up the bag before looking at him with the most nonchalant face, “What chips?” Half of the class had to hold him back from killing you.
You look once around placing the small note down and you hear the elevator door ding and you bolt it out of there the only thing the person hears is a door close. It was sunrise and you watch the sun climb the sky from your view. Your all-nighter didn’t bother you because of your unusual sleep yesterday, the city looks great from up here seeing some cars driving on the road but mainly empty. It felt weird being on your own but you had to do it, looking at your messages you see the old conversation with him. Unknown well you know now was Dabi, the last message between the two of you was the location and that was it. Whatever rage took over for a second and your fingers are typing across the screen and you press send.
“I will kill you Touya Todoroki.”
That was a promise, you shut your phone off before chucking it off the building rooftop you stood on. Now you are alone you get up pulling the hood and mask up. Now your first location. Hosu City.
Somewhere in Japan Dabi lays on a couch looking over the scars littering his body when he hears his phone buzz. Sitting up and grabbing his phone he sees the message. A smirk grows on his face, and now the final battle begins. “See you soon Songbird.”
When Hawks enters the Agency after being gone he wasn’t expecting his employees to come to him saying someone had broken in. He rushes to his office seeing his office in decent shape but the door to his safe is dented and on the floor almost three grand missing. He got nervous to see if anything was missing when he saw something on his desk, it was a Hawks plushie the colors slightly faded he hadn’t seen this thing in years remembering you always holding it. He picks up the note seeing it addressed to him.
“I’m sorry Keigo. I'm sorry for treating you like crap and hurting you. I’ll miss you brother. Don’t come looking for me. -Y/n” he drops the note rushing over to your room, the door busting open as he looks around though nothing looks out of the ordinary.
Pushing open the bathroom door he sees the first aid kit open though missing a few items and an x-acto knife on a bloodied tray and some blood on the sink and floor. He pushes the door open to your bedroom that lacks a doorknob and it was empty, the duffle bag still on your bed and lying next to it was a file, picking it up a piece of paper falls out of it reading it says “Formula-2XE (Latest Patient: Y/n Takami a.k.a Halo)” He drops the paper and looks at the small toy held in his hand bringing it up to his face tears run down his face as he breaks down. He just got you back and now you left.
Back at U.A. Class 1-A is confused at the notes they received at their doors.
“Hey, guys! This is insane! Midoriya left a letter on my door!” Mineta yells out waving around the piece of paper,
“You got one too?!” Kaminari says the whole class was confused by the similar letters they all received.
“Guys…” Mina says she was holding a second letter, her eyes full of tears as they look at her in worry, “It’s Y/n.” In the single letter addressed to the class, it says
“I’m sorry for leaving you all but I will miss all of you. Don’t try looking for me. Tell Midoriya I’m sorry. -Y/n Takami”. With the note, a simple bracelet Midoriya got you held in Mina’s hand.
The whole class is distraught by both you and Midoriya’s disappearance, neither of you knowing the other is gone. Todoroki stands to the side unease in his gut knowing his friend is gone but also worried because he knows why you left. You say you were going to do it before he and his father could stop him. You were going to kill Touya Todoroki.
And in April both you and Midoriya had left U.A. off to fight your monsters.
A/N: THAT'S THE FIRST ARC! I hope you all enjoyed reading this as I have written this! What's gonna happen now with our dear MC now that she's gone rogue?! Second Arc coming soon! 💕

What is the definition of a hero?
Is a hero- per definition- not someone who acted in a courageous manner?
Is a hero not someone who supported the right cause no matter the personal cost?
Is a hero not someone who sacrifices their wellbeing and even their life for a better cause?
Is that not what a hero is?
Whether or not Severus was a good person or not is debatable.
Wether or not he is a hero is not.
He was constantly looking out for Harry and all of his other students to protect them from harm(, the Carrows for example).
He literally lied to Voldemorts face.
Knowing that if Voldemort ever found out about his betrayal he would torture and brutally kill him.
He actively spies on the most dangerous person on eath at the time to help bring about his downfall.
Under great personal risk.
He risked his life every time he saved Harry and lied to his face.
Severus, per definition is what you would call a hero under any other circumstances.
But because it‘s Severus suddenly normal rules don‘t apply.
Listen. I don‘t like James Potter.
I think he was a horrible person. Which is debatable, too.
He was a member of the order of the phoenix who actively worked against Voldemort.
He confronted Voldemort unarmed to save his wife and son.
He sacrificed himself.
That- in my eyes- makes him a hero.
I don‘t have to like him to admit that.
Would it really kill you to admit that what Snape did was heroic too?
Dumbledore: „How many men and women have you watched die?“
Snape:„Lately, only those whom i could not save.“

Touya and Keigo tangled up in bed, the cold kiss of the night air and the heavy weight of tension the only thing between them.
"Please love me." A whispered plea, almost begging yet the tone of voice says that they are already aware of what is to come.
"I already did, before you burned everything there ever was between us."

Manual: Iida, don't ever do something so negligent and reckless again! We must uphold the hero code of ethics *light chop on head as Iida bows in apology*
Iida: Yes, of course, I'm so sorry, please forgive me. This is setting me on the path to be a better hero!
Gran Torino: Hey, hey Midoriya. FUCK YOU *body slams him through a wall*
Midoriya: I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my broken bones and all of the problems I've caused and will cause in the future

I hate when people use Steve’s speech about moving on at the beginning of the movie as “proof that he’s a hypocrite” because literally in the SAME MOVIE, he himself goes “but not us”.
