Hear me out:

Sirius travels to the future and goes to Hogwarts, he sees Remus as a professor and flirts with him and that kind of shit. It’s an au where Sirius in that timeline hasn’t escaped from Azkaban. He questions shit and Remus eventually tells him that he killed Lily, James and Peter and that he’s now in Azkaban and he can’t accept it, he has a mental breakdown. He finds out about what happened to the others like Marlene, Dorcas, Evan, Barty, Mary, Pandora etc. And he sees Luna yk and thinks about Pandora and he’s like “wait I thought Pandora was with Lily?”

then together they figure out what really happened cuz they see Peter on the marauders map. And they deal with him.

Then Sirius sees Harry and goes: “holy shit he looks just like James!! Am I an uncle?” And when Harry gets a little closer, he goes: “wait- his eyes? Why does he have blue eyes?” And Remus has to explain to him that Regulus joined the death eaters and died when he was 17 and that Harry’s mother is Lily and Sirius goes through another mental breakdown. And after he’s calmed down, he’s like: “so I’m not his uncle?” And Remus is like: “you’re the godfather.” And Sirius cheers up a little.

And when he sees that Harry is in love with Draco he is like: why do the potters have smth for the snarky, sad, depressed, Slytherin seekers who’s mean to them. And ppl from the black family. (I count Draco as a black cuz Narcissa is a black so yeah) (Regulus and Draco both getting the dark mark cuz they were forced😭😭😭)

and when Harry gets a tiny crush on ginny sirius goes like: HIS BEST MATES SIBLING?! OH LOOK HOW FUNNY SHES A GINGER TOO! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? See moony I told you it’s in his genes. (You can decide yourself if it’s endgame hinny or Drarry)

And he sees the Weasley twins and he’s like: “they’re my new idols!!” And Remus is like: “We’re their idols actually”

And he sees himself and James in Ron and Harry.

And after a few months when Sirius has caught up with everything, he flirts with Remus and is like: “you know moony I’m horny” and Remus is like: “well I can’t do anything about it, that would be pedophilia” and Sirius is like disappointed. But they eventually have sex (help😭Sirius is like 15 or 16 btw) and Sirius is like: “yOuR cOcK hAs GrOwN”. They take every chance they get to make out. And Remus is like: “oh how much I’ve missed this, missed you”

(They’re at Hogwarts btw) (it’s up to you if he pretends like he’s a student or if he’s hiding in Remus’ room) (but some professors would know if Sirius pretended like he was a student) (maybe he goes in disguise with polyjuice potion or smth?)

(He meets Harry if he’s just hiding and tells him everything but if you decide him to disguise as a student then he just watches from afar and doesn’t talk to him often.)

Remus asks him if this counts as cheating on his past self. And Sirius is like: “no you’re still you, so cheating on you with you is impossible”

Mcgonagall finds out about Sirius but doesn’t tell anyone.

Oh and it takes place during PoA and GoF. But the events just don’t happen, it’s like a normal Hogwarts year. So yeah no voldy coming back. Or no Sirius escaping Azkaban.

You can decide if Remus stays at Hogwarts during GoF or not, like the events didn’t happen so he doesn’t have to leave. But it’s up to you if he leaves and lives with Sirius in his house during GoF. But they’re definitely at Hogwarts during PoA.

and a bit to the end of GoF they figure out a way to send Sirius back to the 70s. Sirius says goodbye to everyone and leaves (Remus is like FUCKING sad cuz he has no one left) and as soon as Sirius is back he begs his brother to run away with him so that that terrible things don’t happen and he talks to James and Remus about Peter, and they do smth to fix that.

Remus should have known something was wrong.

He woke up feeling refreshed and strong which was unlikely after a full moon. When he inspected his arms he knew something bad had happened. There were no scars from the bites he had given himself last night. Along with this, he could see black hair falling down his shoulders.

He scrambled out of his warm bed to the closest mirror in the odd room he had woken up in.

Remus skidded to a halt when he was face to face with Sirius Black, looking at him with wild eyes and a heaving chest.

Remus’s mind ran with all sorts of horrible thoughts before he decided the mirror was cursed.

That was until he remembered he could literally see the difference in his body.

Spiralling with paranoia, Remus leaned against the mirror and stared at the wide, light grey eyes looking back in terror. Not an expression he has ever seen on Sirius.

It hits Remus coldly when he remembers Snape’s threat from the beginning of the week about how he was going to make Remus regret it when Remus told the headmaster that Snape found out his secret and was going to out him. Obviously, Dumbledore forbade it and Snape was left restless and bitter.

But this?

Turning Remus into the most popular boy, one he hardly knew, was ridiculous and futile. He changed Remus’s appearance, so what? At least now he was temporarily hot.

Remus evened out his breathing. This was fine. He would fix this before classes started. He leaned his back against the mirror and looked around the room. He took in the music posters and the way the room had unfamiliar things scattered around.

Worse, he saw James Potter blinking blearily from his own bed. Remus froze, thinking for the first time that maybe this wasn’t some type of fucked up polyjuice potion and that perhaps Snape had discovered a way to swap his body with someone elses.

The blatant reason blares through his mind. It was so someone else would take in their wounds and make the connection that Remus was a werewolf.

His hands began to shake. Who was he swapped with? Snape? Mulciber? Definitely with someone out to get him.

He’d run to the infirmary to see if he was right. As he darted to the door, James intercepted him. Remus hadn’t realised he had gotten up.

“Where are you off too? You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” he yawned.

Don’t reply, don’t reply, don’t reply.

What would Sirius say?

Sirius.

Where was Sirius?

It dawned on Remus that Snape had probably swapped his body with Sirius’s. Somehow, that was almost worse. His eyes fluttered shut.

“Nowhere,” he breathed.

Remus could not get rid of Sirius’s friends. They followed him everywhere and always pestered him with conversation. He was gnawing on a fork by lunch because he hadn’t seen Sirius all day and couldn’t visit the infirmary alone.

He could burst into tears from anxiety.

Surely, if things were horrible, a professor would have pulled him aside.

The more he waited, the more his paranoia grew. He couldn’t hide it from Sirius’s friends who watched him like hawks but didn’t press after how stressed he’d been the first time they tried.

“Can I sit here?” a voice asked from behind.

Remus stiffened, knowing that voice intimately. James and Peter looked curiously at the speaker. Slowly, Remus turned around, feeling faint and pale.

His own face stared at him with a raised brow. Sirius looked sickly in his body but he hid his pain well. Not waiting for his response, he flopped down next to Remus.

“Looking good, by the way.”

Remus cringed into himself and Sirius kicked him sharply under the table. Remus flinched. “Ah— thank you? I mean, I know.”

Sirius gave him a very unimpressed look with Remus’s evaluation of him. Remus chewed on his bottom lip, drawing Sirius’s gaze to it. Right, of course. He wasn’t in his own body. It was surreal to see himself sitting next to him with expressions he didn’t usually make. Those at least screamed Sirius Black.

Fortunately, Sirius ignored his usual group of friends who gawked openly. Remus didn’t know what he’d do if he went into his usual chatter with the boys. He could see that Sirius’s temperament today was reserved and displeased.

Sirius side eyed him. “Can I ask why?”

Remus looked at him with despair, this wasn’t his doing at all. “Snape,” he answered mournfully.

Sirius looked past him to glare hatefully at the Slytherin table. The snarl on his face was the harshest expression Remus had ever seen. “Stupid fucking cunt,” he snapped.

Remus jolted, not expecting it. He started worrying that Sirius was very unhappy to be in a werewolf’s body. He obviously knew what Remus was by now, especially if he spoke to Madam Pomfrey.

“Cruel, tactless, piece of shit,” Sirius listed with agitation. James and Peter stared at him with eyes wide with shock and glee. They would surely harass him later with gratitude. Brilliant.

“Let’s go to Mada—“ Sirius’s eyes flicker to his friends. “Miss McGonagall wants to talk to us about doing study sessions together.”

Remus caves in on himself. He was going to be in so much shit. He irrationally thought of Aurors waiting for him outside.

Sirius places a hand gently on his own and Remus looks into his kind eyes. “Hey, you’re alright, I promise. I’m going to fix this.” He casts another venomous look at the Slytherin table. “And I’m going to fucking kill him.”

Remus holds his breath. Perhaps, their shared hatred of Snape would save him. He lets Sirius tug him out of his chair and doesn’t let go of his hand, clasping it tightly for support. In response, Sirius rubs a thumb soothingly over it.

Cw: for the R slur, bullying, harassment physical and verbal assault.

“Oh look, it's loony Lupin,” Sirius called out as Remus walked into the potions classroom.

“Look, I'm Loony Lupin and I’m retarded. Dur dur dur,” Sirius added, bending his wrists and smacking his chest with his limp hands. The other students laughed, some of them copying Sirius’ motions and sounds.

Remus bit his lip and tucked his chin to his chest as he pushed through the students and to his desk at the front of the room near Professor Slughorn. Remus sat down and slowly pulled out his things. On his desk was a parchment already written on. The notes from the board carefully scrawled onto the page in Professor McGonagall’s neat handwriting. The muggle pen and lined notebook paper he was allowed to use instead of the quill and parchment came out first and was quickly followed by his headphones.

“Oh look Lupin has his ear defenders. Saving his poor ears from the silence of the classroom.” Sirius said in a mocking tone.

Remus didn't respond and instead put his headphones on, wrote the course, “advanced potions” and the date at the top of his paper, and then set his pen down before reading over the notes.

Slughorn entered the room and told the class to settle down and take their seats. Remus gasped when his sternum slammed into the table. He glanced over his shoulder to see Sirius sitting directly behind him, feet on the back of his chair, pushing him into the edge of the table. Remus knew from experience that if he touched Sirius and tried to get him to put his feet down, Sirius would complain to his head of house that Remus was hitting him and Remus would get excused to the headmasters office. No one ever believed Remus wouldn’t actually hit someone. Everyone just saw a boy who didn’t talk and assumed he would lash out in physical violence when upset.

The class began and Remus worked hard on his potion, Slughorn occasionally hovered and guided Remus, but for the most part Remus completed the assignment on his own. He was so proud of his Polyjuice potion and knew it was perfect.

“Alright class, stopper your potions and let me have a look.” Slughorn announced and Remus set about doing just that. When he had placed his at the front of his table like everyone else's, Slughorn looked up at the class, nodded, and then grinned. “Excellent idea!” he boomed which caused Remus to jump. He didn’t hear what was said and was now confused. He looked up and slightly around to try to figure out what had happened. “We will test the potions with a partner. Each of you will pair up and test your partners brew but with the hairs of your partner. Should make for an interesting lunch period.” Slughorn laughed as if he had just said the funniest thing he could imagine.

Remus thought otherwise and froze, dread seeping into him. He didn’t want to test his potion with these students. If it had been with Lily or Mary he would, but not with this group. He swallowed hard and clenched his hands on his trousers as he heard the class start to pair up.

“Sucks for whoever has to partner with Loony Lupin,” Sirius said with a smug tone.

“Actually, Mr. Black, since both of you get the highest marks in my class I would like you both to pair up for this assignment,” Slughorn said offhandedly.

Sirius gaped and sputtered but Slughorn waved off his arguments and Remus was soon faced with one Sirius Black standing over him.

“Let’s get this over with Loony.” He said in an acidic tone.

Remus didn’t make any attempt to move and Sirius scoffed before reaching out and yanking some of Remus’ hairs from his head. Remus cried out and his hand flew to the spot Sirius had pulled from. Sirius snorted and rolled his eyes and then pulled a single stand of his own head. He opened his vial and then Remus’ and inserted the hairs into it. The potion bubbled for a moment and then settled. Sirius picked up his vial and shoved it into Remus’ hand. “I won't have a poor grade because you refuse to work. So open up and drink it on your own or I'll force it down your throat.”

Remus took the vial and swallowed before tipping it back and swallowing the mouthful of liquid. Sirius picked up Remus’ vial and did the same.

Remus gagged and almost vomited but kept it down. All at once, the lights dimmed and the sounds stopped. The colours were less vibrant and his clothes weren’t too tight and itchy. His skin didn’t feel like ants crawled over it. He was glad that Sirius was a similar size as him or else he would have to change clothes with the mean kid. He looked up and saw his own face and the wide eyes staring back at him. Remus sighed. Part of him wanted to give Sirius a taste of his own medicine but he knew that was wrong. He was a bigger and better person than Sirius and he knew Sirius would experience that enough in the next hour as Remus and Remus didn’t need to make it worse. So Remus packed up his materials, cleaned up his potions stuff, and left the classroom. He would spend the lunch hour in the library as he usually did.

Sirius told himself it would be fine, but when he swallowed the potion he swore he was going to hurl. The rolling feeling in his stomach didn’t end when the potion transformed him into Remus and he stood staring at himself. Instead it changed to a dull ache in the pit of his stomach. Sirius noticed Remus started to pack up and returned to his table to do the same, shouldering his back and strutting out of the classroom towards the Great Hall like he always did.

Sirius hadn’t been prepared for the sensory hell that was lunch. The lights from the candles, the windows, and the artificial sun in the ceiling beamed light so bright Sirius’ eyes watered and he turned his head this way and that to try to avoid it. No matter which way he turned it was in his eyes, blinding him. The metal utensils on the glass dishes made the most high pitch noise and the sounds of everyone chewing was obscene. He could hear the lips smacking and the wet noise of peoples mouths. He looked down the table at someone and gagged at the sight of the food rolling around in their open mouth as they chewed. Sirius made himself a plate of all his favourites. The first bite of the fruit was too sour, the next too sweet, and the third bitter. Why? It was fruit, it was supposed to have the same taste each time! So Sirius ate some pasta, but the noodles were slimy and seemed soggy. He groaned and ate some mashed potatoes and crackers, because those seemed safe. He was rewarded with the same taste and texture each time and sighed in relief.

“What the hell are you doing here stupid?” James asked, smacking Sirius in the back of the head.

Sirius looked up glaring and pushed James away from him. He tried to yell at James, but the words caught in his throat. He tried again and again but James just stared at him and then started to laugh before making exaggerated grunting noises and crossing his eyes.

“Potter!” Lily Evans screeched from across the Great Hall, “you leave him alone right now!”

“He started it, he hit me!” James yelled back, pointing an accusing finger at Sirius.

Sirius made a protest, to explain that James was who started it, when again nothing came out. He stared at James in horror and then turned to Lily who was storming down the aisle and pushed James away.

“Go away Potter. Go find Black or something. Leave Remus alone.”

Sirius was never so grateful to see his best friend leave than at that moment. He felt the tears prickle in his eyes and swiped at them.

Lily sat down and gently pet Sirius’ hand and asked where his headphones were. Sirius couldn't reply, just finished eating his potatoes and slipped from the Great Hall. Sirius would try to avoid the other students until the potion wore off, wandering the corridors. Sirius should have never assumed he could do that. The castle was full of students on an hour-long lunch break. They were everywhere. Between the blinding lights, the too bright colours, all the voices talking and laughing, there were subtle things that were starting to get to sirius. Everyone wore too much body spray, especially when he passed the locker rooms. The smell hit Sirius like a massive wave causing Sirius to cough and choke. The sound of the creaking and groaning of the stairs moving and the high pitch whine of the portraits and doors opening and closing made Sirius’ teeth hurt. But the worst thing was the way everyone either stared at him, made faces or the hand motion he did earlier that day, or the few that outright tried to trip him.

When he rounded a corner and came face to face with James and Peter. He tried to turn around but was too slow. Peter grinned and tripped him, James laughed and clapped Peter on the back and they both strode over to him before James spelled him upside down by his ankle. He flailed and struggled against the hold, but his screams fell silent. He screamed and cried and tried to escape to no avail.

He hadn’t realised he had wandered outside the library until he saw himself standing in the doorway staring back at him from behind his two best friends.

He pleaded with his eyes for help and Remus crossed his arms over his chest in defiance before his wand appeared and was pointed at Sirius. Sirius knew at that moment that this was Remus’ revenge. This was how Remus showed Sirius what an absolute prick he had been. He deflated, resigned to whatever jinxes or curses Remus would throw at him. No one was more surprised than Sirius was when Remus spoke in his voice softly the counter jinx, lowering Sirius to the ground carefully before putting up a shield around him to keep him safe from James and Peter's spells.

The two boys looked over at Remus with surprise and then parted, thinking that Sirius just wanted a part of the action. The looks of confusion took hold when Remus carefully placed his headphones over Sirius’ ears and offered Sirius a small tentative smile and held up his two hands.

“I'm sorry that happened to you. Are you okay?” He asked, holding up each hand with an option. Sirius stared at him in disbelief before he swallowed and motioned to “yes”.

“Okay. Do you want to go into the library or to your dorm?” Remus asked him and Sirius pointed to the library.

“Okay.” Remus said and rose, glaring at James and Peter who backed up a few steps as Remus guided Sirius into the library.

“Do you want me to stay or go?” Remus asked, holding his hands out again. “Stay,” Sirius replied, tapping Remus’ hand.

“Can I clean the cut on your forehead?” Remus asked softly, motioning to the gash Sirius hadn’t even been aware was there. Sirius nodded.

Remus worked gently, explaining each step of what he was about to do and how it would feel. He knew what Sirius would experience and tried his best to prepare Sirius for the smell and the burn of the Ditany.

“The potion will wear off any moment now. Thank you for trusting my potion. I may be different, autistic, but I’m not retarded. That word is highly offensive to me and others with intellectual disabilities. Don’t use it again.”

Sirius nodded as he watched his features melt off of Remus and the tingling and burning in his skin and hair slowly morphed him back into himself. He sat staring at Remus perplexed before Remus slowly pulled the headphones from Sirius’ head and placed them over his own ears before nodding and leaving Sirius alone in the library.

Sirius would never use that word again.

I keep telling myself that I won't do month-by-month recs and that they're too much of a commitment, but then a month like February hits where there were so many knock-out Tomarrymort fics published that I couldn’t resist celebrating all the incredible works posted in the last month, including for two Tomarrymort-themed fests. Apologies that this is coming a bit late in the month — it took me quite some time to write up thoughts on each due to the huge influx of unforgettable fic in February!

Criteria for this list: one-shot, complete, published in February 2023, in alphabetical order by title. It’s quite an extensive list, but every single one of these is worth reading.

This fic takes the whole “Voldemort hunting Harry because of a prophecy” origin story, and adds a vampire twist to it. The floaty and detached vibe is a really nice contrast to the visceral horrors of what’s happening on-page — very skillfully done!

There’s a reason why Voldemort doesn’t wear shoes, which Harry, to his horror (and our delight), finds out firsthand. The foot worship in here is magnificently over-the-top in very satisfying detail.

Quiet as the Moon by @itsevanffs (M, 2k)

A Beauty and the Beast AU that’s a sequel to @duplicitywrites’ Certain as the Sun. I thought what was a really nice touch is how we see the state of their (unhappy) relationship through flashbacks interspersing the main action — in just a few sentences, itsevanffs manages to paint a picture of a very wretched existence for Harry, before he takes matters into his own hands.

Voldemort captures Harry and proceeds to experiment on him. And by ‘experiment’, I mean, carve Harry up and fuck him with his hemipenes in delightfully gratuitous, violent and unrestrained, and gushingly hot fashion.

Right in Front of My Salad? by IceLynx (T, 2k)

Draco Malfoy dies right in the middle of Harry and Tom’s kitchen (rude). A hilarious sequence of misunderstandings ensues, which leave you with no doubt that Harry and Tom are absolutely perfect for each other.

The ultimate chase & capture fic. The anticipation builds with every one of Harry’s steps as he's trying to run away, and we’re left with some delicious emotional manipulation and a very hot wall sex scene at the end.

As this fic progresses, the horror of what’s happening to Harry in his forced marriage to Voldemort continues to build and build. Not only is Harry getting taken part physically, he’s also getting taken apart mentally ("Every night, there’s a little more trust to break.") I loved what the ending implies for Voldemort’s favorite hobby.

Alright these two are my absolute darlings, my destructive sweethearts who love each other more than they can handle, and I’ve loved them for years and there’s not that much fic for them and I’m personally kinda picky about their dynamic in fic but I am also trying very hard to spread the word of this ship so I wanted to make a rec list of my fifteen favourite fics for Sirius Black/Narcissa Black Malfoy!

All of these fics center around siricissa, so there’s the obvious warning for cousin incest in every fic. Other warnings have been included, but please do read the tags and all before reading bc I just included the most obvious warnings.

They’re sorted by year they were published, starting in 2010 with the very first fic I ever read for them (I only read it in like 2016 or so, but still) and ending in 2023!

Also for one of these fics, this gorgeous piece of art was created that I’m still stunned by each time I see it, so I wanted to bring some special attention to it. It was created by @dragonanddirewolf for the fic The Black Rose.

Nothing Like the Real Thing by beren (@berenwrites) Explicit | 2900 words | Includes Lily/Narcissa Warnings: Polyjuice potion to have sex, and they're at Hogwarts so potentially underage?

Summary: This is actually the first fic I ever read for them and I still really like it! Lily and Narcissa have an arrangement where one takes polyjuice to look like someone of the other person’s choosing before they fuck. Narcissa chooses Sirius, and she gets closer to the real deal than she’d anticipated.

2. Once Upon a Dream by Elfflame (@elfflame) Explicit | 5280 words | Background Lucius/Narcissa Warnings: Infidelity

Summary: Narcissa hosts a masquerade ball at Malfoy Manor. Sirius sneaks in, in costume, and dances and flirts with her anonymously. They both have an idea of who the other is, but it’s better not to say that out loud until the night’s over.

and i was wondering if you have any thoughts on him when it comes to showering? to like actually having to interact with his body in a really intimate way?? im just so curious to know if youve reflected on this and what you have in mind when it comes down to it. also does he.....touch himself?

firstly there is always the bone motif barty’s bodily autonomy post. but grim made a post here that touches on it a little that i really enjoy.

the way i try to relate to barty is like. in hp we know the soul/"self" is both 1) something that exists 2) is separate from the body. unlike everybody else (as a result of imperius for years, azkaban, polyjuice, the dementor's kiss) barty doesn't really... have a concrete self? if he does its this sorry stifled underdeveloped thing. i mean this narratively speaking not how he personally feels about it. but if everyone else has a soul INSIDE a body, barty is just the body. he IS whatever shape his container is taking (consider imperius, where your inner world=hearing the commands your body is following)(consider how indistinguishable he was from moody. thats probably natural to him)

but we also know that he's clever and manipulative and arrogant and all that despite. so i think the way he sees his body is deeply fucked up (i mean, its Literally a prison) but its also literally all he has. he cant not coexist with it or he has nothing lol... i think he subconsciously views his body mostly as a Tool by which to achieve Ends that he is always Hyper Aware of like he knows exactly what is where and what its doing down to an insane level.

to answer the questions i think he goes through private intimate moments (showering, masturbation) in a manner thats pretty matter-of-fact but otherwise seems outwardly ""normal""? mechanical? its not his Body itself but the conditions under which his body has been used that are traumatizing. he’s still deeply weird & distant about it just not in a way he’s conscious of. he completely lacks normal body insecurities though (“am i ugly” type stuff) like thats just not in the cards for him bc of the Tool thing.

and yet he is still a human being despite!! and i really believe that a little bit under all of that baggage whenever he gets to be alone with himself in those ways its a little heart breaking. peaceful but also terrible? tender but distant? probably his only body-related happy memory is his mother washing him as a child or something. it reminds him of that.

modern au barty is a totally different beast with this stuff though. that guy jerks off like 6 times a day
