I wanna share a silly observation to you miss owl. it seems that in the big three star wars eras (ot, prequel, sequel), there is always that one character that fans like to "bully" out of love, ykno, whose life is made harder in fanworks. obviously, from the prequel era, we have obi-wan. from ot it's luke, and I don't know much about the sequel but recently I learn that in ao3 the tag "poe dameron hurts so prettily" is a thing so I assume he's the sequel representative for this category 😂

There is indeed one (or maybe two depending) for each era. Obi-Wan for sure the king of whump in the Prequel (with Anakin here and there) and Luke for the Original. I didn't get much into the fandom of the Sequel-era...but yeah, i remember seeing that about Poe. I guess he was the chosen one for that?

This is so fascinating! A great read if you are curious about that tag,  hurt/comfort fics in general, and Poe Dameron. It’s from before The Last Jedi came out, so I wonder if there have been any looks at Poe and fanfic since TLJ and TROS. I’m sure I’ll look - and post if I find anything interesting. I really, really wish I’d been around back in 2016 after TFA. *sigh*

I just read through it and it’s such a great analysis. I often worried about a possible racial stereotype too (given that Disney treats their actors of color pretty badly). While I do love the hurt/comfort trope, it’s so interesting to see that there’s bene an analysis on the nuances of the trope. It always bothered me a little bit that a lot of people say he looks so “pretty” when hurting cos it really shouldn’t be about that (even though I know people who make those comments don’t have malicious intent about it, it’s just an observation). I love reading about it and would definitely come back to this again, thank you so much!
