I’ve been thinking about vanijeanne and how confusing they are. But there is a direction mochijun could go with their relationship that honestly has me HOOKED

Let me rant like usual.

I’ve said this before but the set-up for their relationship is odd to me. I won’t say it’s bad, depending on whether what I say will happen, but it’s something that I felt could’ve been formed a lot differently. We’re moving very quickly for a supposedly canon ship, leaping if you will. So. I think this thing they have could go in a “learning experience” for both of them. None of them know what the fuck they’re doing and honestly, neither of them should enter a relationship to begin with.

Here are stuff I think is happening: Vanitas is infatuated with Jeanne. Vanitas genuinely likes Jeanne, I have no doubts on that. He doesn’t love her though. What he feels isn’t love and who knows, maybe it’s something that’ll develop over time. But love is something that involves a lot. One of them is being vulnerable with the other person. I do not think Vanitas is willing to be emotionally vulnerable with Jeanne. They could kiss, go on dates, possibly more, but there will always be a divide.

And it’s understandable, given his trauma and what not. Opening up will be a pretty big problem, maybe he’ll get there. Maybe he won’t. Then we get to Jeanne, which is where I get a bit lost. Because she didn’t “love” Vanitas until their date. So it’s like, girl, babe. Do you love Vanitas? Or do you love the idea of Vanitas? You like the idea of being in love? Because there is a stark difference that matters A LOT.

Love isn’t this romanticized fairytale that she’s imagining. It’s bumpy, there are tears every now and then. It’s a beautiful feeling but it can also hurt. So when Vanitas isn’t showering you with compliments, gifts, and blood. When he’s at a low point, can you handle that? Do you love Vanitas as a person? Because this person right......is kinda fucked up. Life kinda scarred him in more ways than one and I don’t think Jeanne realizes how broken he is. And Vanitas, refusing to open up to Jeanne, won’t tell her that. Won’t share that.

So this combination is either going to go up in flames in the most chaotic way. Or sizzle out until they both come to the conclusion that this cannot work. And if mochijun goes this direction, first of all, excellent writing. It’d be a fresh turn on the main boy gets with main girl trope. But y’all KNOW I got the popcorn ready 😙🍿

But she was radiant and glowed brighter than any star in the sky, how could I not ??? Now give me your hands and I’ll kiss your fingers one by one, I’ll gentle each tip the way you’ve deserved. And I’m here, I see you. I’m not leaving, but gods am I a vile being. Look at how this world has corrupted me.

okay so i’ve seen a lot of speculation about the apartment fire, and it would be so interesting to see

1. the structure fire being so big they call in reinforcements from basically everywhere (aka where tommy is) and we see tommy becoming very reckless in finding his boyfriend

2. tommy gets a call after the fact and we see him rush to the hospital

but has anyone considered or talked about…

both tommy and buck being in the apartment when it catches fire? like just imagine they team up together and help people get out..then they lose each other in the building..? (then it ends with the building collapsing with both of them inside)

or…tommy and buck get everyone out safely and either tommy or buck run out of the building and they’re like “where’s xxx?” and the ep ends with the building collapsing with just one inside.

either way, it’d be interesting to see how tommy reacts and how different it’ll be from bucks past relationships

anyways, red robin #26 should have ended with less dumb appearance of animosity amd anger and more clear role reversal of a lonely place of dying. like. i actually love the idea of the final talk of this issue (given the whole captain boomerang thing, tim potentially wavering on his ideals) being tim and bruce but instead of bruce being like "im disappointed in you for making a bunch of terrible choices" it should have been more bruce telling tim about how when bruce was in his darkest spot tim came in to remind him about why they do what they do and what they symbolize or something, reminding tim about why he chose to do this in the first place and have it end on how tim wants to move forward as a more mature version of the idealistic, determined young kid who looked bruce straight in the eye and said that batman needs a robin.

People should get reimbursed for commute time

If it takes someone over an hour to get to work, that should be part of their pay.

Many people have to commute long distances/through areas of slow traffic because they cannot afford to live closer to their workplace. This is also why work from home is a big thing.

If corporations want people to return to their offices, they need to make it appealing enough. I'm not going to fight through traffic for 2 hrs in my free time just to sit at a computer all day, when I could just stay home and don't waste that time.

Corporations would be forced to invest in local affordable housing, perhaps even affording housing credits. They would need to invest in local infrastructure (which in the US is falling to pieces) and improve public transport in their area (faster commute -> less cost to the company, less cars on road -> traffic moves faster, employees without cars would still be able to get to work). Also people would be less stressed and actually take the time to drive safely because they wouldn't feel the need to rush. It would make companies actually take an interest in how their workers get to work and investing in local communities.

I live sort of near DC. We have a HUGE amount of workers commuting into the city and its surrounding cities. Retail workers also have to commute to these cities and suburbs because they cannot afford to live in those areas. My boyfriend commutes an hour to his part time job at a kennel in a rich town. A lot of people live in the more affordable, lower income, far away areas in the nearby states because housing prices in my area are fucking insane. I knew someone who commuted 2+ hours to work and 2+ hours back. There are people who drive even more than that.

And where do these employees have to live? Food deserts. Crumbling infastructure. No parks, no walkability, no public transport, bare bones everything. Only the cities which only the few can afford have basic infrastructure. And even the people living there have to commute to OTHER even richer areas. There's a ton of places where housing developments have just been shoved and are surrounded by nothing but farms. There's nothing local to do, so everyone goes to the closest town and city. It's also why you see a lot of older towns have abandoned main streets. Why have your business cater to the 100 people who live there when you can be in a city with thousands?

There has been some recent interest in paid commute times. 1 2 especially with corporations trying to get workers to go back to the office. Personally, I love working in my office because having a separate space outside my home helps me keep work and home separate and allows me to focus easier since I'm not in "home mode". I don't have room for an office in my parents house so working from home kinda sucks rn even though it would help a lot since I'm disabled. But it is nice being physically near my coworkers, even if it gets annoying sometimes. Also many jobs involve fieldwork (like mine!) which can't be done remotely anyway!

There would be incentive for corporations to keep their employees close AND provide more remote work options for those living farther away. As well as matching pay to fit rent/housing prices in the area (or vice versa).

Also there needs to be something done about corporations having their entire workforce sourced from another country entirely, working for pennies. But that's an even more complicated situation that I don't have experience in.
