Summary: you move in with your sister when your luck turns for the worst.

It isn't your proudest moment. You don't have many of those. There is little remarkable about, nothing of note, nothing admirable. You might stand a bit taller than most but it's rarely given as a good thing.

You never expected much of life. You resigned yourself to living in the shadows. In particular, you knew you would always bet outshone by your sister's light. You can't hate her for it; it's your own shortcoming. Besides, no one can hate Riannon, she's just that nice.

You are dark smear on the family name. It's why you didn't even think to ask your parents for help. You didn't even ask your sister, she offered, insisted really. You could never deny her and in this instant, you couldn't afford any other option.

It’s just for a while, you keep telling yourself. You’ll find a new job and a place soon. For now, you’ll just stay out of the way. It isn’t very hard; you take up much more room than your few possessions.

You keep yourself holed in the guestroom as you settle into your second day. You have your laptop on your thighs as you scroll the job boards. You have the experience but you expect your reference would be any good. You didn’t exactly end on cordial terms. Starting from square one, though the industry isn’t exactly even ground for men and women alike.

You hunker down to search through the various postings within your purview. Every classification is ticked off, even the years, it’s just that little note about contacting your previous employers that makes you nervous. Well, you at least have to try.

A knock comes at the door as you edit your cover letter once again. You sit up and close the computer. You slide it aside and get up. You cross the room and crack the door open. You sister smiles from the other side.

“Am I making too much noise?” You ask as your music plays music from its tiny speaker.

“No, no, not at all. Um, so you know Andy is out of town for the day so it’s just us,” she rocks, “and there’s a barbecue down the street so... I thought you could get to know the neighbourhood.”

You look down at her, the offer catching you off guard. You were prepared to spend the whole day hidden away and poring over job listings. Even when you had your own place, you tended to spend most of your own time inside.

Still, she is doing you a huge favour and it would be rude to say no. You shrug, “okay.”

“Great, I have some potato salad I'm bringing,” she chirps.

“Uh,” you look at her blue checkered capris and pristine white blouse, “should I change?”

“It’s up to you. I'm just going to get packed up. I’ll meet you in the kitchen.”

Her excitement is palpable. She probably expected you to say no. You don’t want to let her down again. You’re tired of that feeling.

You close the door as she bounces away and you retreat to search through your still unpacked suitcase. Your clothes hang over the sides. You pick out a band shirt and a pair of dark grey jeans. You don’t have any shorts and you know your repertoire of dark colours only draws in the sun’s fury, and like of the vaunted HOA, but you don’t have many options.

You emerge with a pair of converse in hand and head into the kitchen. Rhiannon snaps the lid onto a big bowl as she beams up at you. You don’t understand how you share the same blood, she’s so different than you. Where you’re tall and gangly, she’s small and dainty; where your dour and reticent, she’s bright and bubbly. Your parents even kidded that you must’ve been switched at the hospital.

“Ready?” She asks.

You nod and look down at yourself.

“If you want to borrow a skirt or something, it’s pretty hot out.”

“It’s fine.”

You don’t take her offer as any comment on your choice, only genuine concern. If it was your mom, you would know it was more than that. To be fair, your mother is very direct with her critiques. Besides, even if her clothes would fit you, you don’t want to risk ruining any of her things.

“Alrighty, well, Marge will kill me if I’m late again,” she sings and sweeps around with the bowl. “It’ll be nice to get out, huh?”

“Mhmm,” you grumble and follow her down the hall to the front door.

She steps into her wedged sandals as you sit to pull on your converse and lace them up. You stand and get the door for her as she prances towards it. She thanks you and you trail her out. The sun hits you like fire. It’s so hot, though you think some of the heat comes from your own self-consciousness.

As you catch up to your sister at the bottom of the steps, you slow down to keep from outpacing her shorter legs. Even with her platformed soles, she’s still ahead shorter than you. You turn down the sidewalk as you shy away from the strange faces headed in the same direction.

“You want me to carry that?” You offer.

“Hey, I might be small but I can handle a salad,” she chirps.

“I know, I wasn’t--”

“I’m teasing. It’s fine, I got it,” she assures you as she hugs the bowl to her stomach, “I just want you to have a good day. Don’t think about everything else, okay?”

“Mm, okay,” you keep your head down as you slink next to her jouncing steps, “sorry, I'll try not to be too grim.”

“Whatever, you’re awesome,” she nudges you with her elbow, “you just be yourself and I know you’ll find some good friends around here.”

You try to smile but it hurts. She always sees the best in others, even when it’s not there. You keep pace with her and turn up another curated lawn. The walk is perfectly laid and the blossom tree sways overhead.

Rhiannon is welcomed through the open gate by one of those blonde women she has her book club with and you shuffle in with your hands in your pockets. You feel the woman’s harsh gaze and peek up. She looks at you the same way your mother does. Her name is Marge and her friend is Callie and there are dozens of the Stepford-like figures posted throughout the yard.

“Come, let’s put your salad out,” Marge insists.

Rhiannon looks at you and you chew your cheek, “go, I'll be fine.”

She looks reluctant but you’re already walking away. You ignore the smell of sausage and beef rising from the barbeque and the splash and laughter of children from the pool. You aren’t going to find any friends here. That much is clear. Housewives and little kids, you don’t really fit the bill.

You find your way to the far end of the lawn and stand by a tree you might just blend into. Or maybe you might bury yourself in the rose bushes. You pull your hands from your pockets and hook your fingers into your belt loops, swaying as you watch a bumble bee hover over the grass.

“Foo Fighters, huh?” A low drawl brings your head up as a man approaches with a beer bottle in hand.

“Um, yeah,” you look down at your shirt, tugging on the hem.

“You go to a show?” He asks as he stops near you, drinking from the bottle as he waits for your answer.

“Never been to one,” you cross your arms, “but I listen to them.”

“Ah, yeah, well, they put on a hell of a show,” he wiggles the bottle as he talks, “lot more fun than these things.”

You look up the yard towards the mingling of voices and sound. Despite your efforts to hide in a corner, you must have stuck out like a sore thumb. Shoot, maybe he thinks you’re trespassing.

“I came with my sister,” you point and shift towards the party, “sorry, um, Rhiannon. I didn’t... I was just looking at the roses.”

“Not my party,” he scoffs, “I don’t care.”

“Oh,” you blink and look at him. He's about your height, dark curly hair, and vibrant blue eyes. His dark beard is thick and stubble prickles along his neck. He wears a plain white shirt and jeans; the bare minimum. “Right, er, well...”

“Not a bad idea, hiding behind a tree,” he remarks, “but you're missing the key ingredient.”

He stops and stares, crooking a brow as if you should know what he means.

“Alcohol,” he raises his bottle, “they got a keg even. Probably the only good part about these bull—these things.”

“I don’t drink,” you mutter, “but thanks.”

You put your head down and stare at the grass around his shoes. You don’t know why he’s bothering you if it isn’t to make you leave. Obviously, you don’t belong.

“Never too late to start,” he snorts and stays as he is.

You don’t know how to make him leave you alone so you say nothing. The bee dips into a tulip’s mouth and you turn to watch it. Maybe he’ll take your silence as a hint.

Tsu’tey looks over at the aftermath of the raid, some warriors were able to get out alive but some weren’t so lucky. He walks over to his ikran ready to mount him but he looks over to your empty ikran, his chest starts to tighten as he raises his hand to his neck and presses the button on his communication device.

“Yawne, where are you?” he speaks into the communication device. When you don’t answer, he presses the button again as if the first time, he was doing it wrong. “Tiyawn, can you hear me? Are you okay?” Still no answer.

He takes a deep breath trying not to think of the worst outcome. He rushes back onto the battlefield looking at all the bodies that were spread out across the ground. “Please be okay,” He repeats in his head as he searches for you. He doesn’t want to think that there was a possibility that you were gone, if he did then that would mean he would be truly alone in this world.

After losing Sylwanin, he didn’t think he would find love again but then there was you, a strong warrior that stole his attention, he tried not to act on those feelings but the time he spent training you, hanging out with you in his free time, seeing your angelic smile that always made his day better. By then he just knew he couldn’t ignore it any longer and courted you before any guy could snatch you up.

When you accepted his advances, he felt like he was the happiest man alive, he thought this to be his second chance at love and he wasn’t about to take it for granted. He starts to worry as he doesn’t seem to find you anywhere and tears start to form in his eyes as he begins to think of the thought that you might be dead. “She has to be okay… she just has to be,” he lets out a deep breath as his tail drooped sadly.

He clenches his fists as he fights the tears back, "I just got you in my life, I can’t lose you, great mother, please… I beg of you…" His ears perk up as he hears a distant cough and he looks around hoping for it to come from you.

He starts to run toward the direction the cough came from and when he does he sees you trapped under a piece of metal, his eyes widen in fear and he immediately rushes over, easily picking up the scrap metal and throwing it to the side.

He examines your state, you had wounds that were placed on your stomach and arms but nothing too serious, he drops to his knees carefully taking you into his arms, and softly embraces you as he silently thanks Eywa causing a small groan to escape from your mouth.

“Oops, sorry tiyawn,” he adjusts you softly in his arms to make you more comfortable, he places his lips on your forehead giving it a kiss before looking at your beautiful eyes.

“Tsu’tey, I’m so glad to see you,” you slowly raise your hand to caress his cheek, and a small smile appears on your face, he takes your hand kisses the inside of your palm, and holds it tightly as if he let go, you’d disappear.

“You scared me, tiyawn,” the tears that he held back finally spilling down his face “I’m never letting you go again, Nga yawne lu oer,” he kisses your forehead again making you smile but wince when you make a slight move.

“Alright, let's get you back so you can get treated.” He carefully picks you up and carries you in bridal style as he slowly makes his way to his ikran, again thanking eywa for bringing you back to him.

It was a Monday. You arrived at the compound at 5 in the morning, greeted by Steve Rogers himself. To say you were a little star stuck would have been an understatement, but you kept your composure and introduced yourself to the way taller and way more gorgeous in person man stood before you.

“It’s nice to finally meet you,” he smiled as he shook your hand.

“Likewise, Captain,”

“Please, Steve is fine. We’re all like family here, no need for formalities. I’m sure you’re gonna fit right in,” he reassured you as he led you through the entrance. Still, the compound was expansive and just as intimidating as you thought it might be. You listened intently as Steve led you around, showing you the gym, the lab area, the kitchen, meeting rooms, med bay, training areas, the hangers, the common room, and everywhere else before he eventually brought you to your room.

“This is yours. It’s fully furnished, and feel free to decorate however you like. I know it seems kinda lifeless right now, but the other’s should be getting up soon and permitted staff start showing up around 8am, but they’re not always here. And none of them are allowed to just enter in our living quarters unless it’s an emergency. Guests are allowed, but they have to be cleared first, for safety reasons. Tony should be calling for you in a little while to get your gear all suited and then someone from med will get you to do your physical. We have a training scheduled for 10, you’ll get to meet everyone then if you don’t happen to cross paths before that. I’ll uh, I’ll leave you to get settled in then. Unless you need any help?” he offered.

“Really, it’s just clothes and toiletries. Thank you, though. I really appreciate it.”

“Of course. Just tell FRIDAY if you need anything, she can call people for you, too. If you have any questions about it, though, I’d ask Tony. He knows a lot more than I do about it,” he said as he rubbed his neck almost nervously. “Well, I’ll be seeing you. Again, if you need any help, just call me,” he smiled again.

“I will, thanks,” you nodded with a smile in return. “See ya,” you said as he left your room.

Your meeting with Stark was quick, he seemed to be moving a mile a minute, not that you minded. He gave you your new and improved tact suit, explained the in and outs of it to you, had you try it on to make sure it fit well, and you said your thanks as he sent you on your merry way.

As you were walking back down the corridor to return to your room, you were stopped by a pretty blonde in a lab coat and glasses calling your name. You looked to her and she motioned for you to follow her back in the opposite direction you had been heading.

“Hi, my name’s Brittany, everyone calls me Brit, though. First day, huh?” she smiled at you.

“Uh, yeah. First day,” you laughed lightly. “Um..Where..are you taking me?” you asked confused.

“Oh, sorry! I should have led with that. Dr. Cho is waiting for you, just need to get your physical done and run some tests is all.”

“Cool,” you breathed, “let’s get it over with, then.”

You hated the doctors. You knew this was necessary, obviously, but that didn’t change the way you felt about having to get it done. You were thankful for Brit, though. Her chatter was distracting enough to help you not stress out so much. And she seemed really nice, you only hoped the rest of the staff would be, too.

As she walked you into the med bay, you were greeted by Dr. Cho who was waiting for you. After introducing yourselves, she led you to one of the back rooms to begin the exam.

You stepped out of your shoes before she took your height and as you were dreading the next part of the exam, she asked you a question you’d never been asked in a doctor's office before.

“I’m going to take your weight next, do you care to know it or would you like me to just record it and not show you?”

You stood there a moment, almost in shock at the simple question. You blinked a few times before you looked at her and finally answered.

“I- uh, I think I’d rather not know.. Thank you,” you said earnestly.

“Of course, not a problem.”

You stepped on the scale backwards so as not to see the number that in the grand scheme of things, you knew meant nothing. But you also knew how much damage knowing said number could do to your mental health. You breathed a sigh of relief as you stepped off and Dr.Cho continued on with the exam.

Before you knew it, you were on your way out of the med bay. As you walked into the lobby, you saw Brit talking animatedly to someone who leaned against the counter she was sitting behind. There were two cups of coffee before them and you saw a glimmer of metal as the person reached out to move the cups over so he could lean further without knocking them over. You pieced together from the hand and well built frame who it must have been. You didn’t need to see his face to know she was talking to the Winter Soldier. No, you corrected yourself, not the winter soldier. What was his name again? Barnes? Something Barnes. Sergeant something Barnes, you weren’t sure.

Not wanting to interrupt, or embarrass yourself, you slipped out of the office without saying a goodbye. You were sure you’d see her around, anyway.

As you left, your head was down while you stared at the floor, not wanting to draw any attention. Unfortunately, you didn’t see Steve walking right in front of you until you were already walking straight into him.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going,” you were quick to apologize as his hands steadied you while you threatened to fall. He was a hell of a lot sturdier than he looked, it almost felt like you walked right into a wall.

“No, I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking, either.”

As you straightened up, he pulled his hands off you and gave you a sheepish smile.

“I actually was looking for you, though. There are a few things I forgot to show you,” he said.

As Steve was talking, you could feel eyes on you, but refused to turn around and meet them. From inside the med bay, Bucky was watching the interaction between you and Steve with intent eyes. He hadn’t seen you around before, yet something about your presence seemed familiar.. Your back was to him, so he couldn’t see your face, but the way Steve was smiling so much was making him even more curious about you. He continued watching and eventually caught himself admiring the sway of your hips as you and Steve left walking back down the hallway together. Brit came back around from Dr.Cho’s office and brought his attention back to her with more of her idle chatter, though somewhere in the back of his mind, he couldn’t seem to shake the nagging thoughts that kept coming back around to you.

Hello Lukadrien lovers!

I’m @sasuhinasno1fan and if you’ve participated in Lukadrien June before, you might of seen my name pop up a few times in submissions. Lukadrien June had been run by @buggaberryy, who is amazing, but recently announced that they’ll no longer be running it.

First, please give a big round of applause to @buggaberry for the hard work they did each year drawing the calendar and leaving so many heart warming tags on the reblogs of submissions. While they’re not in the ML fandom anymore, I know the fandoms they are now apart of now have gained an amazing artist and an incredibly kind person.

As members of the discord connected @lukadrien-june, I really didn’t want to lose this event, even if I don’t watch the show anymore, so me, @andraedevanee and @youronlyhalloweenking have decided to take over the event. It is the first time we’re all doing this, so please bear with us as we figure this out. We have also decided to change the event slightly. In 2022, there were weekly theme prompts in addition to the daily. We thought to ease our way back in, we’d do 15 days instead of the normal 30. That means every other day, there will be a prompt.

As such, the rules for the event!

This is a salt free event. This includes harsh criticisms of the show, characters, ships or fandoms involved. Any kind of hate will not be tolerated and will not be reblogged. Please be respectful.

We ask that there be no poly ships that include Lukadrien. There are other events that would cover ships such as those and we want to focus on just these two. Feel totally free to have other couples in your posts, but we ask the main focus be on Lukadrien.

only a few more days until the bird pokemon tournament begins!! i’m super excited to see how this goes.

here’s some extra information/FAQs about the competition:

when does this actually start?

the tournament officially starts on june 11th at 4 pm est!

why are you starting earlier than you said before?

i’m impatient

how will tags/rounds/organization work?

once they go up, i’ll have them tagged with round and pokemon name. i’ll also add linked tags to the pinned post for easy access! each section will last a week, and each week will have 8 matches. you should also be able to search the pokemon name in tumblr to see their status (if tumblr permits it)

how many people are working on this?

why wasn’t [pokemon] included?

i didn’t want to go above a 96 competitor bracket, so “there wasn’t enough room” is the answer for 90% of these questions. some pokemon also just weren’t really Bird enough to qualify!

i’ll keep this updated if i get any more questions. above all please remember that this is just for fun! don’t be mean to anyone or the competitors because every pokemon is someone’s favorite!

Sample of Upcoming "Enhanced Edition" CHICON 2007 Solo Jensen Panel

This sample was removed when I updated the full video with drastically improved video quality. I did not recreate the sample, but you can find the full video here.

This is just a small, 1+ minute segment of a larger video that I’ll probably post next week. Thanks so much to the people who watched, reblogged, and/or liked the CHICON 2007 Enhanced Edition Breakfast video! It made me super happy to see some interest, and I know that was mostly thanks to those of you who managed to stumble across my obscure post and reblog it so people would actually see it.

I’ve started working on the main panels involving Jared and/or Jensen from the same convention. Jensen’s solo panel is next sequentially, so that’s what this sample is from. This clip was one of my favorite parts from his panel. I’m including Jared and J2 in the tags because Jensen talks about working with Jared here.

If you don’t have any particular interest in the subtitles, you can skip the wall of text below.

On this sample, I used a much lighter color of blue for Jensen’s subtitles. The more I looked at the shade I'd been using, the more I thought it was too dark to be read easily. It became more apparent to me while working on his solo panel because there’s so much more of it. I’d be happy to get opinions, good or bad. I was really attached to the idea of using blue for Jensen and red for Jared because of their marker tape colors, and I’m pretty sure the previous shade of blue was more accurate in that regard, but it’s far more important to me that the subtitles be readable than that they be symbolic!

If people like this color better, I’ll go back and update the subtitles for the Breakfast video to use the same color for Jensen. Subtitles are a separate file from the video, so it’s not too difficult to make changes and switch the subtitle file out without affecting the video itself.

Speaking of which, feel free to let me know if you catch any errors with the subtitles and I’ll fix them. Also, if there’s a subtitle that I marked as [inaudible] and you’re confident that you know what they said, let me know. There were parts I marked as [inaudible] even though I felt sure I could guess what they’d said based on the context, but I couldn’t hear any sounds or see any mouth movements to clearly confirm it. I tried not to put words in their mouths that they might not have said, and I didn’t want to force my own interpretation on anyone. Sometimes though, there were places where I felt like I should have been able to figure out what they were saying but I just couldn’t get the sounds to make sense to my ears, so someone else might be able to hear those. Other times, I would hear something for the umpteenth time, often when I was focusing on some other aspect of the video and not thinking about the subtitles at all, and suddenly it would seem blatantly obvious to me what they were saying.

As far as issues with the videos themselves, I can’t easily change them after I publish them because it would create a new video link on YouTube and I'd rather not create a confusion of links. Finalized Update Schedule: October 8, 6:00 am (GMT+8)

Hello! I hope you’ve all been doing well this week! Like I mentioned above, the update’s finally coming :) And there’ll be no further delays, I promise. I will be sending the edited last scene for the update to my testers later, or tomorrow morning if my headache still persists tonight, but I’m truly excited to show you this!

As of now, there are three main things I wanted to discuss:

FUTURE UPDATES

For the sake of my health, mentally speaking and to help my eye issues recover somewhat, I will be taking a one-week break from writing after every update. I’ll still be answering asks, but I’ll be limiting myself to that.

Reblogs for the updates are very much appreciated every time. That’s really the only way for me to reach more readers, and it’s also quite motivating when I see folks reblog my silly posts and my silly game.

I’m no longer going to write as many prompts as I did last year; I kinda learned my lesson with that (that was a very bad idea of mine). When I do share prompt lists, it will probably be every 2 or 3 months, and you’ll have to wait a week or two before I actually get to writing your requests.

My target right now is to upload an update every 2 months, although this will only be possible if I get to focus on writing.

Please expect there to be more edits to preceding updates once I upload the next ones. It’s just how I write. For all the years I’ve written screenplays, I’ve never finished one without making a lot of edits to the opening parts. This will likely happen here, too. What I plan, though, is to do these edits once I’ve given my updates to the testers and before publicly releasing them, so there will be no time wasted on it.

Any kind of feedback and/or suggestion will be appreciated every time I push out an update; they help in motivating me, which then equates to a faster pace of writing, as weird as that may sound.

The first book for Hollowed Minds is quite long, so I will be looking forward to your continued support!

If anyone here has a better sense of time management than I do, please help me out and give me some tips lmao.

I’m planning to launch my patreon a week or so after the update; I’m also aiming to set up my ko-fi in a way that you could choose to get the same benefits there instead if you wish to.

I hope y’all wouldn’t see this as greediness or anything alike, but I’d definitely prefer to focus on writing Hollowed Minds as much as I can, without a lot of distractions. Gradually raising funds through these platforms would help in doing that, while ensuring that more frequent updates will come in the future and that everything with regards to my health would be properly taken care of. Setting this up will also help me manage my time more efficiently through stricter deadlines, and you’ll be free to cancel your subscription at any time.

I want to ask for your inputs with regards to the content you wish to see in here. So far, I’ve been planning for: sneak peeks, lore content and q & a, more plot-oriented snippets for the ROs, bonus short stories for the characters, access to polls, and a 2-week early access to the succeeding updates once applicable. I honestly don’t want anyone to just waste their money, so knowing what you want to see would be great.

A weekly progress will be kept free to view here on tumblr, though I will also start posting them on patreon and on ko-fi. (I might not post them at certain times if I feel like I didn’t have sufficient progress to report about.)

FEEDBACK

I don’t like having to keep asking for them, but really, receiving any sort of opinion about the game and especially about its characters will help a tremendous amount. While I do have testers, it’s not as if they can catch every issue in it, so knowing how you feel about the overall flow will be appreciated.

I will be searching for more testers for the next update, so keep your eyes peeled!

Thoughts on Rayllum Post S4

Last week, I posted a chapter of my story Lunation and got some pretty divisive comments. It got my wheels turning and before I knew it, my fingers were flying, and I ended up writing something small an essay on Rayla and Callum's communication at this point in their journey.

Edit: Adding this one because I feel like this blog is making its rounds and it needs to be said. Let me make this 100000% clear that this post is not to blindly defend Rayla in any way. Her actions (lying/leaving) in TTM were awful (and I talk more about that below). However, this post is a reaction to some comments on my story - comments that made me realize that there are those in the fandom that believe her actions are (especially to Callum) unforgivable - that no matter what Rayla does, says, or thinks in future seasons, she will forever be at fault for leaving, and doesn't deserve to reconcile with Callum.

Original Post:

I didn’t realize how much of the TDP Community takes serious fault in (ahem, hates) post-TTM Rayla. Last week, I posted a chapter of Lunation (a fanfiction/character study of what would happen if Rayla and Callum actually talked post S4) where Rayla and Callum try to talk about things. In my story, Rayla realized how much she truly hurt Callum, and while she attempts to explain herself, she ultimately apologizes, realizing her actions hurt Callum more than she could ever imagine. Callum, who is still blinded by anger and repressing a lot of his feelings, lashes out at her. It makes them both explode and nothing is settled between them (until later chapters - but that’s a different post).

Obviously, I am just a fan, and I am using this work as a creative release. But I take pride in proper characterizations - I want to be sure each party member is behaving like they would in the show. And, on top of it all, I am spending my free time putting genuine love and devotion into something purely because I enjoy it.

But many of the responses on the chapter really left me scratching my head, and quite frankly, made me…sad. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that is not the issue - I understand you can’t please everyone. I was genuinely upset because people seem completely ignorant of the absolute trauma Rayla has been through. Readers called me biased towards Rayla (with no sympathy towards Callum), called Rayla toxic, said they want Rayla to "truly regret her decision and actually apologize," calling my interpreted apology disingenuous because I used her family dynamic as one reason why she would leave to protect Callum (and honestly, likely also because she didn't grovel at Callum's feet).

I am not saying what Rayla did in TTM was right - actually, I think the opposite. Rayla’s response was definitely not healthy, and it wasn’t correct, and there were more plausible options. Yet having been through trauma myself, I understand Rayla’s actions. When TTM begins, we see how Viren has taken away literally everyone Rayla has loved - every parent she’s ever had, including (in a way) Ethari, who is not dead but is forbidden to see his foster daughter due to the fact that she is a Ghost.

Rayla left to protect literally the last thing that she loves in life - Callum, and probably Ezran too (but remember, she saw Callum encased in ice along with her parents and Runaan in TTM). Through Seasons 1 - 3, Rayla is self-sacrificing, rash, and guilty - her choice to leave, while not right by any means, aligns with her character that we have all seen through Seasons 1-3.

Again, was her decision right? Nope. Was it correct? Absolutely not. But those were Rayla’s actions, and at the time, she felt it was right and justified, which again fits into her character. In S4, we see Rayla come back empty-handed, and frankly, that shows growth. She realizes that her attempt was fruitless, and hence returns. It sure looks shitty to Callum because she has nothing to account for - and at the beginning of S4, he seems justifiably hurt, angry, yet still hung up on Rayla. So yes, Rayla’s return is incredibly hurtful to Callum - but let’s not forget that it was likely also hard on Rayla. She is both a prideful and honorable creature, so returning to Katolis empty-handed had to be one of the hardest things for her to do, especially with nothing to account for. No one likes to admit they’re wrong, especially about something as big of a decision as that. That is not to take away from Callum’s pain - it is just as hard and traumatic for Callum. But I think members of the TDP Community are forgetting that it’s hard on Rayla too.

And Callum’s ire is understandable. However, my interpretation from S4 (and from his short story 'Inheritance') was that for two years, he stuffed down all his feelings and made everyone around him miserable. At this point, those around Callum have been dealing with him wallowing for two years - and now, the love of his life is here, in front of him, and he is still choosing not to address anything with Rayla. He is withdrawn, and has been for the past two years. Rayla's return is essentially forcing him to finally process what has happened. That’s why I decided to explore Lunation. S4 gave us no resolution with Rayllum, and it had the gears in my brain going.

Some people are also saying that Ezran and Soren should be loyal to Callum because they know him the longest, and that they should be more angry with Rayla (both in the show and in Lunation). Yet I see Soren and Ezran as mediators, both in the show and throughout my story. Yes, they’ve seen their friend/brother desperate for nearly two years because of Rayla (which I’m sure gets tiring in itself). Now Rayla is back, but Callum is not taking any means to move communication forward. This is plainly addressed when Ezran and Callum speak in the Drakewood (“Lots of things are hard, like magic. But you figured that one out.”) and when Rayla and Soren speak on their ‘adventure’ (“When you left, you hurt him - real bad.”). It is natural that Ezran and Soren are not going to have the same bitter response to Rayla that Callum had because A. Their love/relationship with Rayla is different, and they have likely already processed what has happened. B. It is not in their nature to be inherently angry or bitter (Ezran, especially). C. I would like to think that, at this point, they want to see Callum happy. I am sure they were angry and mourning Rayla in their own way, but Callum would be the most affected by Rayla’s departure.

Let’s also not forget…that Jack DeSena (when being interviewed about S4) himself said that Callum repressed his feelings during the two year absence, and dove into magic.

And again - in case you didn’t read the first or second time I said it - Callum has every right to be angry. But remember, these are conflicting emotions that Callum is suppressing. He loves Rayla deeply, but is also angry and hurt. Still yet, he hasn’t talked about it or addressed it, even at the end of S4. A person who is withholding all these feelings is going to act angry, bitter, moody, and likely lash out - we saw evidence of all of this in S4.

But…those of you who are anti-Rayla seem to miss the fact that Callum is still in love with her. He never stopped loving her - not ever in these two years. But he still has these repressed, unspoken emotions that are going to burst through, and that is what I wanted to explore in Lunation.

I deliberately made their conversation drawn out and slow, starting right from Through the Surface (my fanfic that takes place before Lunation). They’ve been slowly getting there, bit by bit…because if you’ve ever tried to repair a relationship (especially one where both parties are hurt), it takes time. That’s one reason why I liked S4, as Rayllum wasn’t addressed at all. Why would it? While it was disappointing to Rayllum fans, it was a perfectly normal response. It is not realistic for a couple to just pick back up after two years and pretend like nothing happened.

And ultimately, that is the point of Lunation - to show that relationships are messy, are not linear by any means, and that in order to make it work, there needs to be communication, and communication is freaking hard.

As a bonus, for those of you insisting “But Rayla hurt Callum! Rayla doesn’t deserve to go back with Callum! How can you ever go back to someone who has hurt you?” To you, I say this: it is painfully obvious that you have not had any complex relationships, life experiences, or the ability to empathize. It seems like you’ve never had someone you hurt (or they hurt you) terribly , only for the love to remain ever present. Truly, it must be nice to live on a plane of reality where things are so black and white. But in my reality, life is not black and white. Life is messy, and love is the messiest thing of them all.

And, on top of it all, these are fictional characters that do not exist, and I (along with several other creators) am writing fanfiction out of free will and my love for the show. I don’t get anything out of this process (including writing this rant/blog post). So if a person doesn’t like my interpretation of these characters and this story, that’s cool - but you can say your opinion kindly and without aggression, or simply close out the tab and decide not to read.

And hell, write your own damn story if mine makes you so angry.

I edited my headline to be clear that this blog is a fan blog. I never claimed to be an official translator or anything like that. OX did never answer the request for permission to translate their work, so this is all for fun and without any connection to the artist but if you want to put it so negatively “messing” with their work. (I guess/hope Old Xian is probably really busy and doesn’t have time for concerns over small creators interacting with their works. Of course I would take the translations/edits down immediately if they personally ever happen to contact me about it and disliking it for whatever reason or if they make a statement online that they are uncomfortable with people playing around with their creation) Please remember fanfiction, fanart, edits, … are the same category as fan translations and technically require permission from the creator to be anything near legal as well. If nothing is commercialized it’s basically not a crime that’s traced I guess? I’m doing this in my free time and without ever charging anyone anything. The art work doesn’t belong to me and I hope that’s clear since I put OXs name and where to find the original whenever I post a translation.

I barely interact with most of the followers who came here but I’m happy many people seem to enjoy it ❤️ Again: I’m not claiming to be accurate and I just do fun stuff with editing, and what I feel like. I’ve done it many times before and people minded their business if it wasn’t their cup of tea. So I’d rather keep a small community around to gosh over the same things and not have loads of people on this blog with expectations I don’t want to live up to. I’m not here for anything but joy for myself and friends. There are sooo many cool fan translations you can follow instead if you’re upset about what I’m doing. I chose peace and fun over everything since this is my blog. It’s the internet not real life, please just pass by and ignore/block it if you don’t like it, since it’s not my responsibility to make anyone feel better at my space. And respectfully anyone please unfollow me if there is an expectation of me to serve you in any kind of way or make you feel comfortable at my own fan bubble here. We disagree and I’m not going to put up with negativity. I’m here for positive interactions and to have fun with a fandom I enjoy, which is mostly 19 days at the moment. I literally have a crack ship/cursed ship or whatever you call it in my header so where do those expectations come from? Typesetting is fun, not a job or duty to me and I’ll keep doing my own fanservice 😊 I also don’t want to justify stopping what I’m doing right now if I don’t feel like it anymore one day.

If you are really bored and want to play detective, start comparing OXs originals with the posts :D I made a few small edits here and there that didn’t change the context, and that I didn’t mention. Nobody noticed before or only a few wondering about hearts or (for me) funny additions. Yesterday I wanted to clarify I was making fun to keep a distance from the original because it changed the subtext with the small smile on Cheng’s face. (Look at least closely if you’re here to roast me. The second panel of him had a change of the corner of his mouth too and none who complained did even see it…)

I also apologize to anyone who’s disappointed because this wasn’t communicated clearly enough from my end. I will keep addressing actual changes like before! Now there are so many followers already and I had to block a few being rude, I felt pressured to make a statement, but actually we’re strangers and I don’t owe you anything guys.

Summery: We switch between accurate translations and a more direct communication sometimes (but most of the time we stick to the original as close as possible). My tagging process is between me and God, and I was out sick the day it was covered and when I asked God for Their notes They said that They overslept and didn’t make it to class, so suffice to say nobody really knows what’s going on. I’m starting to go back through my blog and tag things to make them more findable, but that’s definitely a work in progress. If you have a specific topic that you want to be able to find on my blog and/or block, feel free to let me know and I’ll see if I can get a clear tag set up for it

If you want to see my original posts, most of them are underneath the “behold! an original post!” tag (this post has it in the tags so you can click on that!). I think I’ve gone back and gotten most of them tagged, but I know I have at least one about Love III by George Herbert wandering about without a tag, so if you come across that please let me know.

I don’t think that DNIs are very useful and I have no consistent rules for if or when I block, but if you are a bigot, run-of-the-mill mean, or consistently spread misinformation we probably won’t get along. If you see me doing any of the aforementioned behaviors please let me know so I can undo it!

LBSC Sprint Challenge May 2023

The LBSC Sprint Challenge is now open for writers and artists! The prompts are:

1. Luka, coming home with something expensive: "Okay before you say anything I just want to remind you how much you spent on fabric last month." Marinette, Not Buying It: "Before YOU say anything I would like to remind you that invoice was for YOUR stage costume." 2. Marinette making a wedding dress, maybe for a competition or showcase or something, and has to try it on. Orders takeout because she's working late. Cue Luka delivering the takeout & Marinette answering the door in the dress. (Luka proposes on the spot.) 3. Motorcycle riding class meet cute 4. Things I didn’t expect to be explaining to a two year old: 1. Traffic laws, 2. Punctuation, 3. Why she can smell chocolate on my breath when she didn’t get any 5. “I got 99 problems and you cuddling me could solve all of them.” 6. Wildcard - pick any of the prompts available from our sister blog, @mlweeklyprompts, or any previous challenge prompt.

You have until Wednesday, May 31 to complete your 3 15-minute sprints/45 minute art sprint and post the results. Once you’ve completed the sprints, you have 24 hours to edit (which can include some new writing to smooth transitions and make it feel complete, and whatever work you feel appropriate to get your art to a state you consider ‘finished’).

Please note you may sprint in the language of your choice, and you can either translate the final fic before posting, post it in the original language, or both as you choose. You can join us on the LBSC discord or sprint on your own! Just be sure to tag @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers in your final post so we will see it and reblog it. Rules!

We’ll post a beginning and end date to the challenge, and a prompt.

Writers, If you choose to participate in the event, write for that prompt in up to three 15 minute sprints. No writing outside the sprints until you have completed all three! After the 3 sprints are complete, you have 24 hours to edit (which can include some new writing to smooth transitions, etc). You can also choose to break that 45 minutes up differently if you find a different split works better for you. After those 24 hours, post what you’ve got. Tag your posts with @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers so we can reblog it to the LBSC blog. If you post your work on AO3 or somewhere other than Tumblr, you can leave a link in our ask box or in the appropriate discord channel so we can be sure to promote it. After the designated challenge end date, we’ll compile a listing of the submissions and post it to the LBSC blog.

Feel free to sprint in whatever language is most comfortable to you! You can post it in your own language or translate it before posting, or both!

Artists, you have 45 minutes to sketch and 24 hours to do any cleanup or coloring you’d like to complete. You can split your 45 minutes up however you like, or not at all. There’s no requirements on your finished piece, just aim for whatever goal seems challenging but achievable to you. Tag your posts with @lovebugs-and-snakecharmers so we can reblog it to the LBSC blog. If you post your work on Instagram or somewhere other than Tumblr, you can leave a link in our ask box or in the appropriate discord channel so we can be sure to promote it. If you’re wavering as to whether or not you think you can accomplish anything in 45 minutes, we really encourage you to give the challenge a try. You may be surprised what you can do! Feel free to join us in the discord linked above so we can encourage and cheer you on.

Obviously, this has to run a bit on the honor system and we won’t be tracking your times, but please do your best to honor the spirit of the challenge! If your sprint fic becomes an Entire Thing (these things happen sometimes) and you want to continue it, feel free! However, please still post whatever you’ve got after your 3 sprints with the tag. No fair busting out a fully polished fic or art without showing us what it looked like at the challenge stage!

We want to keep this a positive space and event! This does NOT mean that you can’t write or draw anything critical of a character or episode, but it isn’t the space for character bashing or hate either. Please keep the characters in character and save the more speculative work for another time. NSFW sprint works are permitted but must be tagged appropriately (please use “NSFW LBSC sprint challenge” for easy filtering on the blog) and with appropriate warnings. This is a Lukanette blog and a Lukanette event, so while Lukanette does not need to be the main ship, it needs to at least be included or referenced and considered endgame (in other words, they don’t have to be together by the end of your work, but the intent is that they’re headed in that direction). The decision about what qualifies for reblog rests solely with the LBSC moderators. If a piece hasn’t been reblogged within a couple of days, either the mods felt the piece didn’t meet the criteria or it was simply missed; you are welcome to reach out in the asks to inquire which. There are plenty of other spaces out there for other ships and OT3s, and people are welcome to use the challenge rules and prompts to write for their own ships! They just won’t be reblogged to the LBSC blog, and we ask that you please not use the event tag (a modified form is fine - “InsertAlternateShipName sprint challenge” instead of “LBSC sprint challenge,” for example).

Little facts/lore things about Azure:

Azure was isekaied from my OC World to the PGR Universe (but they don’t have any memory of the OC World so :3)

Azure despises coffee because it too bitter for their preference

They are a chaos demon when they’re in a good mood, otherwise they’re either highly existential or really quiet.

Azure’s eyes reflect light weirdly

Their preferred weapon is, contrary to the fact they often use Lee’s spare gun and Dawn’s signature sword oftentimes, is actually Camu’s weapon. The reason they don’t have a similar weapon is because they popped their shoulder out in their early days with Gray Raven and Liv didn’t want it to repeat so, except for special occasions, they are not allowed to use giant swords that are too heavy.

Azure is very “dodge-y” and flighty when they fight, opting to dodge away from an enemy if given the chance

My VLD Meta Masterpost

I’ve written a lot of Voltron analysis over the last few years but some of them are old enough that it’s getting harder for me to search for them whenever I want to either share them with others or go back and re-read what I wrote myself.

So I decided to put together a masterpost of links collecting every piece of analysis I’ve written about Voltron: Legendary Defender up to this point, both here on my main blog, and my sideblog @fandomoverflow. This will contain links to both the posts I’ve written myself, as well as posts that I’ve reblogged and added my own commentary to. Some of the observations made in order analysis change as I learned new information or refined by interpretation of existing info, but I’ve left the original essays as is to preserve my thoughts at the time.

I’ll update this list whenever I post a new meta in the future, so for the sake of keeping this post easily organized, the links to my previous metas will be divided based on main topics, and then listed in the order I posted each one.

Also, I didn’t really understand the importance of preserving fandom history until after Tumblr’s porn ban happened, so unfortunately almost all the meta I posted before Season 8 has been lost because I had a thing about deleting pre-season theories/meta after that season dropped, so anything I wrote before December 14, 2018 unfortunately only exists in people’s reblogs.
