Critical Role is just such a warm and wonderful gift for wlw representation.
We have the two who saw each other from opposite ends of a bumpy broken road, who braved rain and thunderstorms and faced obstacles and hurdles but were always on track towards each other - even when they didn't know they were, even when they couldn't see they were - until the rain got lighter and they started walking with purpose. And then they finally reached each other in the middle, embraced and never let go.
And we have the two who started on a bumpy broken road together, who are braving red sand storms and go over obstacles and hurdles side by side and where at some point intertwining each others hands for support and comfort - so that they always know they're still walking together, even when they can't see and there's too much sand in their eyes - and then never letting go was just the right descision to make.

"Poe, please don't look at me like that!" You beg.
"Like what?" Poe gives you a genuinely confused look, as though he hasn't been staring at you for the past ten minutes like you're a particularly complex puzzle he needs to work out.
"Like there's something wrong with me," you sigh, twisting the mug of tea nervously in your hands.
"I never said that! But seriously? You're scared? Of flying? This is a joke right?"
"I just think if we were made to fly we'd have wings is all." You shrug, trying to be nonchalant as you sip your drink, your fingers pressing hard into the china as you try to ignore his shock. You don't look up but you can feel his eyes burning into you.
"How did I not know this? How have you hidden it from me of all people! I'm equally impressed and offended." You suspect by his tone he's more offended than impressed, but it was never truly your intention to hide it from him. The secret just sort of… happened.
When you were children you barely knew Poe, not until after he returned to Yavin, his eyes a little darker than they had been before, his steps a little more calculated, though no less bold. When you started helping Kes out around the little farm he bought, you had gotten to know Poe a lot better. Barely tolerating him at first, before you fell into an close friendship. It had been easy enough to deny his requests to go flying with him in the early days, especially given the amount of trouble he got into.
Then when you were older Poe seemed to flit in and out of your life. Between the academy, the navy, and now the resistance, sometimes it seemed like he was never around.
But he always reappeared eventually. He came back to Yavin sometimes for days, sometimes for weeks. He used your back garden like his personal shipping yard, but you never had the heart to tell him off about it, despite the fact you had smashed more than your fair share of crockery in shock at the sudden noise of a roaring engine coming down on your house.
Everytime he asked if you wanted to go flying you found some excuse not to, sometimes elaborate ones you aren't even sure Poe believed. You assume perhaps he thought you were avoiding spending time alone with him, which was in part true some of the time.
You could have told him the truth, but the way he lit up when he talked about flying — the freedom of it, the adventure of it — had always made the words dry in your mouth. He couldn't possibly understand, and you knew he would react, well, exactly as he had.
"I didn't! You never asked, and it never came up in conversation. It shouldn't have tonight. It's irrelevant. I don't need to fly," you shrug stubbornly, wanting to get away from the topic if only to stop the quizzical gaze he's fixed you with since it came up.
"But-but there's a whole galaxy you're missing out on!" He splutters, still wide eyed with shock. "You can't tell me you want to spend the rest of your life on Yavin."
"I like Yavin!"
Poe gives a huff of disbelief at you, folding his arms.
"Liar."
"You know Poe, not all of us have the need to fly out into the night and get blown to pieces like you," you sigh, rubbing a hand over your eyes, frustrated at his reaction. "Anyways it's late. I should go."
Getting up you put your mug in the sink and grab your jacket, intent on leaving and finding some way to avoid this topic for the next however many years, probably forever.
"Hey, hey, don't go. I'm sorry, okay?" Poe begs getting up and taking a gentle grip of your arm to prevent you moving. You ignore the fire that ignites your skin where his fingers are wrapped loosely around your arm.
"Tell me what scares you? About flying I mean? Let me try and understand," he pleads.
Taking a breath you sigh. How could you explain it to someone who spent their whole life up there? How could you explain it to someone who lived and breathed the freedom of the flight?
"Pilots die, all the time. Things go wrong, fights, pirates, technical failures…" you trail off with a wave of your hand, freeing your arm from his gentle grip, not used to his touch. "I just…can't stand the thought of dying alone out there in the cold. It's hard enough worrying about that happening to you."
"You sound like my dad," Poe sighs quietly. "He didn't want me flying either. Not after my mom."
Reaching back out you squeeze his hand briefly, knowing that while the relationship between Poe and Kes had somewhat mended over the years, some cracks ran too deep to ever be fully healed.
"You know, Kes never shuts up about you flying. Always talking about what a good pilot you are and how your mom would be so proud of you, how you fly just like her. I swear it's all I heard for weeks the last time you were here."
Poe falls quiet for a long moment, deep in thought, a frown etched deep into his brow.
"He's proud of you, Poe. I know he struggles to say it sometimes, but he is," you offer gently.
Poe waves a hand nonchalantly, as though it doesn't bother him, but you know it does.
"Well you know my dad likes to keep things to himself, but apparently not from you," he eyes you somewhat suspiciously. "He likes you, you know. He told me once I should marry you. Imagine that, us, married."
He lets out a snort of a laugh as he shakes his head at the thought. You want to make a joke about it, you want to laugh it off and tell him you'd never agree to it even if he asked, but the spark of feelings you've so carefully navigated all these years flared to life suddenly and in full force at his words.
There's always been something between you, something a little more than friendship, something you both know can't be. Something both of you have avoided talking about for a long time now.
Perhaps when you were younger maybe you could have figured something out, but Poe was hardly ever around and now, well now your worlds were too far apart. Yours here on the ground, his far off in the stars. It was better not to prod too hard at open wounds, but Poe's laughter at the thought of you together, still cuts deeply.
Something must flicker across your expression because his amusement dies and Poe gives you a half smile.
"It's just, you know, you're seeing someone. Aren't you?"
"It didn't work out." You shrug as though you don't care. The truth was it never worked out, because you would always be in love with someone else. How were you supposed to give your heart away when at any given moment the one that makes it beat could drop from the sky without warning?
"Oh," he sounds genuinely sad which only drives the knife further in. You drop your eyes from his, pulling at a loose thread on your jacket as he continues. "I'm sorry. You'll meet someone else though! Although maybe…. Off this planet?"
You sigh and roll your eyes. Really you shouldn't be surprised that he found a way to spin the topic right back to your issues with flying, which you suppose was better than your love life so at least there was that.
"Oh come on. You can't be scared if you haven't tried it! Lemmie take you!" Poe sounds like an excited child on life day. Clearly the thought of conquering your fear appealed to him.
"Absolutely not! I've seen the way you fly!"
"Did you not just say even my dad thinks I'm good at flying? And besides," he leans on the counter, a shit eating grin plastering his face, "didn't you hear I'm the best pilot in the resistance?"
You roll your eyes at his cocky statement.
"Poe, I've heard a great deal of things about you over the years, not all of them I can believe and most of them I've had to defend your good name against!"
He raises an eyebrow and tilts his head like a curious loth cat.
"Like what?"
You quickly go through the ment rollerdex of things you've heard, deciding to pick out your favourite.
"Like… the time you apparently almost married a Hutt."
Poe opens his mouth and then closes it again, suddenly becoming very interested in a tin of tea on the side. He picks it up, rolling it between his palms, purposely not looking at you.
"Well, really that wasn't even my fault," he mumbles eventually, realising you aren't going to fill the expectant silence.
He can't seriously have done that? The ridiculous story can't possibly be the truth?
"You have to be kidding me! I got into the biggest argument that you wouldn't be so stupid to get into something with them. Do I even want to know the real story?"
You had vehemently defended your friend, arguing well into the night that while yes, Poe was reckless, and yes sometimes he spoke without thinking, and yes sometimes trouble found him, you were still absolutely sure the story was completely untrue. You suppose you have a few apologies to make now.
"It's not like I intended to agree to the marriage! It just sort of… happened."
You stare at him, open mouthed waiting for the rest of the story, knowing he won't be able to resist defending himself. But instead of launching into a lengthy explanation he grins, setting the tea down slowly and fixing you with an expression you are all too familiar with. The one he uses when he knows he's about to get something he wants.
"Trade. I'll fly you somewhere. Then I'll tell you."
And there it was. He knew you wanted to know the truth, unable to resist a good story about the far off places he visited and troubles he got into. You should have predicted the bastard would use that against you.
You fold your arms.
"No."
"I'll just fly you to the other side of Yavin? Short trip, in and out."
"No!"
Poe sighs dramatically, pushing himself up off the counter.
"Fine. You drive a hard bargain. I'll tell you the whole story if you let me show you around my ship and tell you how unscary it is to fly. Strictly no piloting."
"Please agree so you can both shut up. It's after midnight, and the noise you two make will bring the first order down on our heads without them even looking!" Kes Dameron booms from the hallway, making both of you jump.
"Sorry dad!" Poe yells while he gives you a grin of victory.
"Sorry Kes! I'm leaving now." With a sigh of resignation you slip on your jacket. "Fine. No flying."
"No flying," Poe agrees with a nod, holding out his hand and wriggling his fingers invitingly. You hesitate to take it, but he slides his hand into yours anyway, squeezing your fingers. "I'll walk you home."
You try not to think about how right it feels to have your hand in his.
~
"Poe, Poe," you repeat a little louder as he continues rambling away, pointing to the different parts of his X-Wing, a misty look in his eyes. You're sure you lost him a good while ago, and he hasn't stopped talking long enough for you to explain you have no idea what he's talking about.
"You have to put your hand up to ask a question when I'm teaching," he chides you teasingly. Rolling your eyes you put your hand up, glaring at him when he grins silently at you for a long drawn out moment. Just as your patience breaks, opening your mouth to ask anyway, he cuts in first.
"You have a question?"
"Several," you respond dryly. "Firstly, can you please slow down? I've no idea what you've been talking about for the last twenty minutes. Secondly, I'm pretty sure you've told me about everything that can go wrong and now I want to be near this thing even less. Thirdly -"
"This thing? This thing?" He interupts, his eyes going wide with shock. "This thing is a T-70 X-wing. I've done a lot of work on this thing!"
"I apologise I insulted your ship," you laugh, watching his brows pull together in an annoyed frown. Maker, Flyboys! As cute as he was you couldn't really expect any other reaction.
"Don't apologise to me. Apologise to her!" He points at his ship before he folds his arms stubbornly, as though he's actually serious. You pause for a moment, realising he is serious.
"Thirdly, I don't think this is helping and I'm sure you have better things to be doing," You continue, ignoring his sulk. Poe drops his arms, his expression softening.
"It is helping," he insists. "If you know what can go wrong then you know how to fix it, or how to account for it at the least. Then that part isn't so scary anymore. I promise."
"It doesn't feel like it's helping," you mumble, wrapping your arms around your chest, the low hum of anxiety vibrating under your ribs. "I'm sorry. I'm not being ungrateful. It's very nice of you to do this."
"You don't think I can do it," he grins and you roll your eyes at him for what feels like the thousandth time since he's been back.
"I'm not a challenge," you remind him with a glare.
"You kinda are though," he grins. Trust Poe to see this as some sort of game he can win. "Come on. You can trust me. I know about these things. How'd you think I survived this long?"
"Sheer dumb luck?"
Poe laughs, a deep elated noise that brings a smile to your lips and makes your heart ache with affection. It seems so rare these days that he truly laughs like that, and when he does, here with you, it only makes his inevitable absence harder to swallow.
"Probably a bit of that too," he admits with a shrug. "Okay, new plan."
He plonks himself down on the ground, patting the space in front of him for you. When you're settled opposite him he takes both your hands in his. When you try to pull away, the touch giving a jolt in your chest, he grips your fingers tighter, forcing you to stay with him. It's an all too familiar dance now. You push him away, and he only proceeds to try and hold you closer. When he's here you wish he wouldn't, but when he's gone, you ache for his easy familiarity.
He gives you a genuine open look, and your heart aches a little that he's truly trying to help when you feel so beyond helping.
"What do you think about when you get scared? When you think about being up there. What is it that worries you so much?"
"I guess dying alone?" You suppress a shudder at the thought of floating out there in the darkness, no one to hear you scream for help.
The pilot doesn't even miss a beat before he answers quickly.
"Okay, I'd be with you so that's not a problem. We would die together."
You glare at him, unamused. Ignoring your vehement stare he gestures for you to continue.
"Fine. Being shot out of the sky. Lot of time to think about dying while you're plummeting to the ground."
He gives you a grin, "We both know that's not an issue because I'm a great pilot, so no matter where we are I promise you I'll land safely, all parts intact, especially all the bits I like," he winks and you desperately try to ignore the flare of heat on your skin. "I've done it so many times I could do it in my sleep! Next problem."
"Kidnapped by pirates." You shoot quickly.
"They'll give you back after half an hour." Poe snorts with laughter when you reach out and slap his arm hard.
"Asshole," you grumble, fighting back a smile.
He grins at you, clearly enjoying himself at your expense and while you should mind his teasing, you find it hard to care, not when his eyes are lit up with genuine joy.
"You are really not helping," you laugh eventually, shaking your head. "I'm a lost cause."
"Not entirely, just mostly. I mean none of these are good reasons to be scared," Poe smiles and you have to admit it chafes you a little that he still doesn't seem to understand.
"I never said my fear was rational."
"It's not entirely irrational either," Poe acknowledges with a shrug, finally allowing you to pull your hands out of his while he taps his chin in thought. You curl your fingers into your palms, willing away the memory of his touch.
"What you need is a distraction!" Poe proclaims brightly. For a shocked moment you think he's talking about a distraction from him, which is entirely exactly what you need. But he keeps talking and you realise it's nothing like that, although he inadvertently makes you distracted anyway, from flying at least.
"Yeah, something to take your mind off getting up there."
You shake your head, knowing it won't work. Suddenly this whole thing seems like a bad idea. Poe wasn't one to give up, and yet over the years you've tried just about everything to get over your fear. A weariness starts to creep in, encouraging you to make your excuses and leave.
"I doubt anything would distract me that much. Anyway, I think we should do something else. Flying isn't that important." You try, knowing it's hopeless now you've encouraged him this much.
"What if I flew naked?" He grins, wiggling his eyebrows. His constant blatant flirting is starting to take a toll, and you can't muster even a smile this time. He knows, yet he does it anyway. It's infuriating sometimes, purposely poking and prodding when you're just trying to get by without spilling your heart all over the grass.
"Coming from the person who laughed at the notion of us being married, I don't see how you think I'd care about that." You don't quite mean to bite it out the way you do, but Poe ignores your attitude and leans back on his arms, gazing at you.
"Yeah, because we'd argue all day long about everything. I'd be messy, and you'd want a tidy house, we would fight over what to have for dinner, because you won't believe I'm the better cook, I'd want to paint the walls blue, but you'd want green. You'd want to live here and I wouldn't." He waves his hand, indicating that there would be a longer list of issues if he continued. "The thought of us being married is funny because it would be chaotic, not because I don't love you."
The words hit you like a shot, and judging by the look of fear on the pilot's face he probably hadn't thought them through before they left his mouth.
"Guess the cats out of the bag now. Well, suppose it was never really fully in the bag anyway," he mumbles, running a hand through his messy curls, before he stares up at the sky. "I mean, I know we've never….I know we've never gone down that road, but you know I've always had a soft spot for you."
You knew. Of course you knew. You both held an affection for each other, but you also know it wasn't meant to be. Maker knows you've spent your life trying to get over him, and Poe… well he never breathed a word about his feelings in the matter. You assumed he had moved on some time ago. If his list of conquests was anywhere half true, he moved on quite well.
You avoid his gaze, looking down at the dirt. "Love is a lot different than a soft spot. Seems funny you never mentioned that before."
Poe swallows, sitting back up properly and reaching to take your hands, you snatch them back before he has a chance, a swell of anger starting in your chest. There is no need for him to tell you this. You don't want him to tell you this. It won't make any difference to say it out loud.
"I knew I couldn't stay so what was the point? You've said yourself how much you love Yavin. Who was I to ask you to give it all up? You deserve someone who could be there for you, where you wanted to be. You still deserve someone like that."
"So why bring it up when you know it isn't you?" You snap angrily, getting to your feet, panic pulsing through your veins. While you've had this conversation a hundred times in your head, in reality you have no idea how to react. Suddenly the open wound becomes a sinkhole, and every wall you've placed around your feelings starts to crumble in. Your chest constricts with panic. He can't do this now. Not after all this time. You won't be able to rebuild what he's torn down. This will burn your friendship to the ground.
"Because I'm selfish," the pilot admits, jumping up and following you as you storm across the garden towards the house, the flaring pain in your chest getting worse with each word that leaves his mouth. You won't talk about this. You can't talk about this.
"Yes, you are! You blaze in and out of my life and everytime I think I might have a chance to mend myself, you come tearing down from the sky. Maybe it is about time to actually have this conversation so we can both move on!" You spin on your heel to face him, stepping back when he reaches for you again.
If he touches you now you won't ever be able to let him go, he'll find a way to calm you down and you don't want to be calm. You want to be angry. You want to yell, scream, and let out every feeling you've kept locked inside. You want him to feel even a small spark of what he's done to you for years. You need to be angry.
"Why can't we just be together now?" He interrupts your rant.
"What's the point, Poe? You know I won't leave, I can't leave. And you can't stay. It won't work and we both know it."
"We don't know that because we haven't tried!" He implores passionately. "You can come with me! The resistance would be lucky to have you. If you just try! If you just let me show you. I promise it's not so scary, and then we can go anywhere we like!"
"I can't do it, Poe. I just can't and there's no point trying to make you of all people understand that."
You turn to leave but this time he's quicker than you, reaching out and catching hold of your wrist.
"So this is how it ends is it? We dance around this for years and then we just do what? Give up?" The pain lacing his voice is enough to make your lip tremble as you bite back the tears.
"You're right. We've danced around this for years because we both know it isn't going to work! Why now? Why after all this time decide to drag all this up now?"
"Because we are in the middle of a war. Because I don't know what's going to happen to me tomorrow, or the next day, or the next. Because I might not be here to tell you this, and for some reason it kills me that I might be gone and you would never know that I loved you. I've waited years for you to find someone who makes you happy, someone who gives you everything I can't, but everytime I come here I know it hurts you because it hasn't happened. And I need you to know that someone, that I, love you. I don't think I can just walk away this time." He sounds resigned and it crumbles away every last brick you had to protect yourself. Poe doesn't think he's going to survive this war. In the end, he knows he's going to leave you anyway.
It makes you angry to hear him talk that way. Poe was the upbeat one. Poe was the one who always figured a way out. He doesn’t just accept the inevitable. And you don't need him concerned about you either.
"Well you should just walk away, because I don't need your pity!" You yell, feeling the hot tears escaping your eyes.
"That's not what it is!" Poe takes a breath, clearly trying to calm himself and de-escalate the situation. "I'm just trying to be honest with you for once. I can't just leave and say nothing this time."
"You mean like you have every time you disappear into the sky for months on end?" You laugh bitterly.
The pilot swallows, his eyes searching yours, pleadingly, begging you to understand why now, but the anger still swells in your chest.
"I've always come back to you. Every time I can. For Makers sake do you think I'd be here so often if you weren't?"
When you say nothing Poe frowns, reading your expression all too clearly.
"You won't even consider coming with me? You won't even try?"
You wrap your arms around your waist, holding yourself together as you shake your head.
"I can't. We can't and you know it. I…can't leave. I can't leave," you repeat in a whisper, shaking your head, the tears flowing fast down your cheeks.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry," Poe apologies softly, reaching out to take your arms, drawing you close to him. You try to fight it, pulling your body away, but Poe ignores you, holding you tight against him until you stop fighting, allowing him to hug you tightly.
"I know you can't leave," he admits, letting you go to cup your cheek, his palm warm against your cooled skin, his thumb sweeping away tears. "You don't have to, okay? Just say the word. Say the word and I'll be here, with you. I'll stay right here so we can try. Tell me that's what you want. Tell me you feel the same and I'll do it."
You know what he's offering, and you know he can't fulfil it. He's speaking without thinking it through, in desperation, trying to fix things, to fix the damage his words have done.
You wish you could accept it, but the thought of Poe grounded, here, a place he fought so hard to escape, causes an ache in your chest. You know it can't be that way.
Maybe he would give it all up for you, but it would never be enough. Not for him. Eventually the cracks would form, and he'd be gone, and leave you so much more broken than you already were.
"Tell me you feel the same," he whispers, leaning into you.
"Don't do this," you beg softly, bring your hands up to rest on his arms to push him away. You can't seem to make your body follow through with the action.
"Then stop me," Poe challenges, his hand sliding around the back of your neck. He's so close you can feel his breath against your lips, the warmth of his body against yours.
Maker, he was going to break your heart. He won't stay, he can't stay. You won't make him do that, not for you. But you're sick of fighting it, sick of trying to pretend. He's here, with you, wanting you. Just this once, once can't hurt.
The screeching beep of his comms stops you both, the sudden insistent noise cutting through the tension and your own clouded thoughts, making you step away from him quickly. Poe lets you go, his expression pained, though he doesn't move to answer the incoming call.
Swallowing hard you gesture to his pocket, refusing to meet his gaze, fearful of what you might find there.
"You should get that."
"Yeah," he nods distractedly, taking a breath and fishing the comm out. He holds it in his hands, glaring at it before his gaze flickers back to you. "Can we talk later?"
You hesitate initially but then nod. Later gave you time to think, to process everything, to try to explain to him why this can't be. Maybe you can salvage your friendship after some time apart.
A tiny voice in your head whispers the vicious truth. It was too late for that.
It's less than an hour before he leaves again, back on urgent business for the resistance. You hadn't opened the door when he came to say goodbye. You hadn't answered when he asked if you wanted him to stay, and you hadn't the strength to smile and see him off this time. He left you with the memory of his muffled voice, promising he will come back, promising he'll figure out a way to make this work, begging you to think, to try.
For once you're grateful he's gone. At least he isn't around to see the damage.
~
The tea Kes Dameron had pressed into your hands has long since gone cold as you stare out at the grass, little shoots growing where previously a star fighter engine had burnt them away, one that so far hadn't returned, and perhaps never would.
There's a sigh behind you, a creak of the porch steps as Kes sits down next to you. The older man had come to help you fix the flickering light in the kitchen, something you'd have once asked Poe how to fix, allowing him to instruct you via comlink, teasing and laughing at your questions and frustrations. But you hadn't spoken to Poe, not in months now, too ashamed and regretful of your behaviour, and too fearful of what speaking with him may bring up.
"He was asking about you again earlier. You can't keep avoiding his comms."
You can feel Kes's eyes on you but you refuse to look up from the dent in the grass. You don't need to ask who he means.
"I'm not. Poe calls at bad times."
Kes makes a disbelieving noise, taking the now cold mug out of your hands and setting it down to the side, making you finally look up.
"It's been a bad time for the past two months. What happened between you?" He frowns at you.
"Nothing." It was the truth. In the end nothing had happened, not really. But the almost of it, the almost hurt worse.
You don't want to talk about Poe. You don't want to think about it. But the next question slips out without you being able to stop it.
"How is he?"
Kes lets out a long breath.
"You know Poe, all smiles and reassurances but he hasn't been the same. Not since…" Kes trails off and your stomach gives a now familiar lurch at the memory of Kes turning up at your door, pale and scared, stuttering out that the First Order had captured his son. As far as you know Poe never told Kes what happened in those days he was gone, but if the stories you heard were even half true, you're surprised he made it out alive.
"He needs someone there," Kes continues eventually.
"He has his squadron." You ignore what Kes is implying. It's a conversation you've had a hundred times over now. It makes your chest ache in a now all too familiar way.
"He needs you, and for all your denial you need him. You can't spend your whole life moping around here. I can make the arrangements to get you there. You just have to say the word."
You had tried in the weeks following his departure to do as he asked, to fly. You had walked to the shipping yard every day, listened to the roar of the engines, talked to the pilots, tried with every fibre to set foot on a ship, any ship, but you couldn't do it.
You had come to accept that you were right to distance yourself. There was no way for you to be together.
"Kes, I can't do that. I… me and Poe… we just aren't… our lives don't fit together." The shame burns in your chest that you couldn't be there for him when he needed someone the most, after his escape from the First Order.
Kes scoffs in an all too familiar way. You wonder if Poe knows where he got that reaction from, if he knows how much like his father he can be.
"Don't fit together? You kids," Kes rolls his eyes. "Nothing in this life is ever easy. If you want something enough you'll find a way through it. Poe's mother," he hesitates, the words catching in his throat. It's rare for Kes to mention Shara, but when he does, it always seems it causes him physical pain. The older man swallows hard before he continues, looking up at the sky.
"She was a free spirit like Poe. But she loved with her whole heart, and so does he. He'd give up the world for you. Don't let your fear hold you back. Don't make the same mistake with him that I did. If you do, you may lose him forever."
Kes was right in a way, your fear was holding you back, it always had. You'd always known Poe's heart was in the stars, and your fear would never let you leave the ground. But Poe had offered to give his world up for you — his stars, his resistance, his freedom. Even if he couldn't stick to it, he was willing to try.
Maybe you could try again. For him.

Poe is still in his flight suit, his hair damp and messy, helmet clutched in one hand, talking animatedly with another pilot who you vaguely recognise, who apparently knows you straight away. The pilot nudges Poe — who continues to chatter away obviously— before forcefully spinning him around to point at you.
You can tell you are probably the very last person he's expecting. His eyes go wide and he blinks a few times, as though he's imagining you here. He opens and closes his mouth but whatever words he wanted to get out, don't seem to come, or at least you can't hear them across the yard.
You hadn't told him you were coming. In fact, you still hadn't answered a single one of his comms. It's not that you hadn't wanted to talk to him, but more that you hadn't wanted to disappoint him if, in the end, you couldn't go through with it. Getting here had taken weeks, the trip was rearranged three times after you found yourself unable to get on the ship, and in the end Kes had dragged you in himself and tied you into your seat, reasoning that you needed a push. He was probably right, but you would still be having words when you saw him again.
Raising a hand to Poe you give him a small wave, glad that you landed a good few hours before he returned from whatever mission run he was on this time. It had given you time to clean up and compose yourself, for the shaking to finally stop.
You hesitate in the landing bay, unsure if you should go over or stay put. Poe decides for you because the moment you move a foot forward, he runs to you, skidding to a stop almost toe to toe with you.
"Here-you-h-how?" He stutters out looking you over, as though you might have been kidnapped and dragged here against your will. "Is everything okay? What's happened? My dad-"
"Is fine," you cut him off, recognising his rising panic. "Everything's okay at home. I just thought it was about time I came to see you for once." You give him a nonchalant wave of your hand and a shrug, although your stomach feels full of stones as you take in the new scar across his cheek.
"But… you wouldn't even fly with me!" He sputters out, as though that's the most important point.
You give him an apologetic smile.
"Your dad made me realise I needed to be here," you confess, "We heard about what happened. Your dad was worried about you and how…" you were coping after being tortured.
You don't finish the sentence, swallowing hard.
"I was worried about you." You drop your eyes, instead gazing down at his scuffed boots, still feeling ashamed you hadn't been here sooner.
The pilot sighs, "I'd have come to you if you'd just answered my calls. I just thought you didn't want to see me, and then things here got… a bit crazy."
"I know, but the way we left things. I didn't know…I couldn't…I'm sorry. I tried to come, I really did. I couldn't and… I couldn't tell you…I panicked and everything that happened, and what we said, and what I did, and I wanted to be here for you when you were… but I couldn't. I tried but i couldn't do it, and then -"
"Stop, stop, stop," Poe shushes you, pulling you into his arms and holding you against him tightly, while you try to ramble out an explanation, an apology, and confession all in one, the words tumbling together, desperate to escape.
"Shhh stop," he repeats softly, squeezing you against his chest.
It's more than just a friendly hug, it's more than just a greeting. He holds you tighter than he ever has, one hand curled into the back of your shirt while the other grips his helmet, his face buried in your neck, as though he could hide from the world. Your heart aches for him and everything he's been through as you hold him.
You wait for him to ask you questions, to call you out on how you acted, even to tease you for the whole situation.
Instead, "I'm so proud of you," is all he says.
You bite your lip hard to hold back a flow of tears, gripping his flight suit as he squeezes you breathless.
"I can't believe I wasn't your first," he huffs suddenly against your skin.
"What?" You squeak, heat flushing over your skin at the sudden change in conversation.
"Pilot! I wanted to take you on your first flight," He sighs, pulling away to pout at you in the most adorable of ways. It makes you want to laugh at the look of actual disappointment on his face. You hadn't realised it had meant so much to him, then you remember that he had seen you as a challenge and can't help but wonder if it's purely that someone else won, where he lost. You can tease him about it later and find out.
For now you'll sooth his jealousy just a little.
"Does it help if I tell you your dad had to basically restrain me. I cried, had I don't know how many panic attacks, shut my eyes the whole way, and I absolutely never want to do it again?"
Poe considers this for a minute before he grins, "Kinda does… but not the crying or panic bit. Or the fact you don't want to do it again" he clarifies quickly, before you have a chance to tease him about enjoying your misery. "We can work on changing that last part. And I'm still sad you didn't trust me to take you first."
"Well maybe if you didn't fly that barely legal piece of junk X-Wing I'd have-"
He suddenly leans forward and presses his lips to yours, cutting off any further insults you could throw at his ship, and while his kiss takes you by surprise, it's not unwelcome, and you immediately find yourself sinking into it.
The kiss tastes of desperation, of impatience, of longing buried for too long.
You let out a soft moan as his tongue licks into your mouth, deepening the kiss. You tangle your fingers in his sweat damp curls in the way you've wanted to for so long.
His helmet thumps noisily to the ground when he drops it to wrap both his arms around you this time, pulling your body hard against his. He slides one hand up your back to the back of your neck, holding your mouth to his as he kisses you passionately.
This time it isn't his comms that interrupt you, but the hollering cheer of his squadron.
You pull apart suddenly, your cheeks hot with embarrassment.
Poe gives you an abashed smile, throwing a rude hand gesture to his still cheering comrades, mumbling a soft apology.
"Sorry, I just decided it might be better to skip the talking part this time, since it didn't really work out so well last time."
You can't help but let out a soft laugh, feeling dizzyingly elated at the lingering feel of his lips on yours.
"No, it did not."
Poe grins, drawing you close once more, "now what were you saying about my beautiful custom X-Wing that you are absolutely going to be flying one day?"
You roll your eyes. Flyboys.

Lately I’ve been feeling like Thai bl is truly all over the place with so many shows airing at once and some of the best ones flying under the radar while discourse is focused on a couple of the big messy ones. I think you’re the only person I know who is actually watching ALL of them and has been here for the whole evolution of the genre, so I’m curious what stands out to you about this current moment. Do the shows feel different to you? Is the way fandom is interacting with them changing? And what are your current favs?
I ended up writing a thesis, sorry friend lol To be fair to me there are 3 questions in there, all of them meaty! I've done my best to give a sense of where I'm at with Thai BL and how it feels like it's changed over time.
Caveating all of this: I am just one fan who I'm sure has had specific experiences that will colour my opinion, also a lot of this is just vibes so I'm open to being told I've forgotten something major or misremembered what it was like! If you are reading this and your opinion or experience is different please share, with stuff like this I'm always interested in hearing about differing opinions because the fandom experience will depend at least partly on where you hang out. For years, my main fandom space for BL was the YouTube comments section (RIP me).
Tumblr media
Overall feel
Honestly, things overall don't feel all that different to me in Thai BL in particular, even though I'm about to talk about a lot of changes and ways it actuallyd does feel very different below lol And after reflecting about it, I think it's because these things still feel very much in flux, in a way that they've felt in flux this entire time. Producers are still figuring out the best funding and distribution models and merch models to make money; creators are still calibrating how queer these shows can be and still be popular; actors are still figuring out how to do BGP (business gay performances) without having fans interfere in their private lives off the clock. Writers are still trying to figure out how to write 12-episode arcs that don't drag in the middle or fumble the ending (which is also not new). The tension between established ships, fan expectations, and genre requirements has honestly been there almost the whole time, though the reverberations of missteps is louder now because of the larger fanbase that is (comparatively) more plugged in to live viewing. The core question in BL has always been 'how do we make this marketable', and that unsurprisingly hasn't changed, though the answer to that question has over time, if that makes sense?
Shows
Do the shows feel different? As a whole, I'd say yes. The biggest differences are of course total quantity and overall quality, but the actual distribution of % of shows that have high(er) production values (i.e. quality) feels close to the same--it was close to 50/50 in the late 2010s and now is maybe more like 40/60 with a higher percentage coming from more smaller production companies. But the numbers we're talking about are something like 15 shows in e.g. 2018 and something more like 50 shows in 2023 (being vague because there are shows that people could argue over whether they should count). The quality overall has increased, even the pulps look better, sound better, and tend to feel a little bit more put together than the pulps of even 2020 (please note that these are all relative qualifiers, most of these shows are still not objectively good). 2020 in particular was a watershed moment for high production value BLs; we get colorists and special effects artists, and sometimes decent sound production now!
Tumblr media
There has also been an improvement in terms of what is depicted and how certain subject matter is treated very generally, though I think that's still in flux. Things like evil ex girlfriends are less common than they were and the women in BL are more likely (in general, still not always) to be treated as realized characters. We've gotten more and better femme representation in ensemble shows, and the "gay for you" trope is much less common. Consent is now considered sexy and is much more common than it was; non-consent as "sexy" has eroded and is much less common. Things that used to happen in almost every BL now happen in a much lower percentage. I also feel a little bit less worried about some of the actors on pulp sets because there is more general scrutiny about things like minor actors, intimacy coordination, BGP (business gay performance) expectations, and sexual exploitation. Overall, show recommendations these days come with fewer caveats.
Tumblr media
The assumption that if you worked with someone on a BL once you would stay with them as an established pairing was surprisingly early in BL; I don't know if it's just because there were a few shows that had side pairings then get main shows, so the actors did work together on a few shows in a row, which made them feel established, or whether it's because the BGP started early to build hype both before and after shows aired, or whether audiences just made homophobic assumptions about how if two actors had chemistry they had to be gay for each other, and otherwise nobody would want to "play gay" more than once, or would want to have to kiss too many other men....in any case, there were huge scandals and blow-ups around this in BL on even the earliest shows, and some early shows were snubbed because of the pairing alone. Similarly, it was established very early in BL (i.e. 2016-17) that an unhappy ending for a pair would result in your show being panned; cheating was also a guaranteed flop in BL circles (though some ensemble shows that had gay relationships in them such as Friend Zone did fine with cheating plots and unhappy endings). Overall it feels like some things were only depicted in early Thai BL and creators have avoided them since due to the audience reception at the time. I will say, generally, that there have now been enough examples of people in a "branded pair" moving on to a new pair or multiple shows, that it feels less like a death knell to a BL career if one of the actors says they no longer wanted to make BLs, or if they switched companies.
I pay a lot of attention to queerness in BL, and that has changed a little bit too, though not in the way I expected. I had been expecting a more clear and steady trajectory in BL, but we've instead had real swings, and I've realized there will just always be shows that feel more or less actually gay or queer than others, and that's ok. Early Thai shows really spoiled us for good queer content, GayOK Bangkok and Diary of Tootsies are still shows by which i measure what we get now, and both of those are from 2016. I would say that more "mainstream" BL (i.e. by one of the major production companies) hit what turned out to be queer saturation around 2020 and that's where I was most surprised not see a more clear trajectory; rather than things getting more queer from there, I'd say a greater percentage of shows overall feel more queer, but we haven't (and I now suspect won't) reach the queerness we had in Thai tv in 2016. That being said, my secret running list of things I want to see in BL gets shorter every year as entries get crossed off, so I would say the range of queer experience is slowly getting captured as more content continues to be made by a wider range of production houses (PrEP being mentioned in a mainstream show is my white whale).
Tumblr media
I know some people assume that shows are higher heat now overall, but I don't think that's true. I do think Thai television producers and directors have overalll gotten better at capturing sensuality, and acting workshops have improved chemistry-building overall too. But from what I can tell the ratio of high head and low heat content is still pretty similar to what it's always been, maybe slightly higher (e.g. at a quick glance I'd guesstimate 30% of shows had a sex scene in 2018 vs 40% in 2023).
Tumblr media
Fandom
The main differences in fandom from the really early days and now are the ways we, as international fans, are able to engage with each other, with thai audiences at the same time, and with content creators, and the entitlement that comes with that. In the 2010s we were almost always watching after Thai airing, with either fansubs or, later, official subs, trailing online releases by days or weeks, which themselves may have trailed the Thailand airing date by days or weeks or sometimes even months. That became less true around 2019ish, and especially in 2020 when I think Thai producers were desperate to reach audiences during the start of the pandemic (and when audiences were desperate for something to distract us from what was happening in real life).
As a fan in the mid-late 2010s, watching something was either unofficial via a fansubber, or you were wading through hundreds of Thai comments to find anyone else writing about the shows in English. Now, it's actually rare we don't have immediate international distribution, though it may be paid. If the subs are not up at the same time as the official upload, even on free sites, fans get furious. It's a bit surreal to see people complain about waiting a few hours for subtitles, especially on YouTube, when we sometimes waited months for a series to finish being subbed (not to say people didn't complain back then too, because they sure did! But there were fewer international fans overall, and it wasn't an expectation that there would be subs, so fewer people complained when it happened). This meant that a lot of people only watched shows when they were complete, and people were not watching with any kind of synchronicity.
Tumblr media
With international fans moving into simultaneous watching with Thai audiences, we suddenly had the chance to talk about shows as they were airing and affect the conversations about them and even, sometimes, the decisions. Folks seem to have differing opinions about what makes a BL, and what makes a BL good, and they are vocal about when a show doesn't meet their standard. This has always been true, but the strong opinions have more of an effect on the discourse when they're expressed in real-time to the show being aired. Also, when we have literally 3x the number of Thai shows being aired (nevermind other countries which have also increased), it seems so much more egregious to me to complain if a single show doesn't meet your particular taste. Just go watch something else! That was less possible in 2016, but now nobody has any excuse lol Please note here that I'm not saying shows should not be criticized. But when you have one loud faction saying shows should have nothing but innocent kisses if any skinship at all and showing more is distasteful and possibly homophobic, and another faction saying a show should be panned if they don't have at least one sex scene and if there is no good kiss it's homophobic, I don't know where that leaves content creators but I see the tension and how it sometimes results in my least favourite tropes like "blushing maiden" even after a couple has canonically had sex. These factions have always existed in BL fandom, this is not new, they just both seem particularly silly now with so much content to choose from.
The shows that get attention and the shows that get snubbed feel the same too, in all honesty. You can ask yourself the following questions:
Is the show a little slower paced?
Are the story beats less melodramatic?
Do its characters feel more human?
Do they feel more queer?
Is it a comedy?
Is there any risk of an unhappy ending?
Do people not think one of the lead actors is hot?
Do people ship one of the lead actors with someone who isn't his costar?
Do people have to do anything other than go to YouTube to watch it?
If the answer is yes to any of those questions, and especially to the last one, fewer people will be watching, even if the show is good. That's always been true. [Shows I'm thinking about when I say that: Make it Right, He's Coming to Me, My Ride, You're My Sky, Oxygen (though the sides in this one are also at fault), YYY, Something in my Room, Ghost Host Ghost House, Dear Doctor I'm Coming for Soul, Cooking Crush.] All this is to say, there have always been shows that have been ignored, though I agree with you OP that with more shows airing, more are being ignored at any given time.
Tumblr media
The other thing is that when a show is good, it doesn't necessarily invite discourse. The messes are often what encourage people to dig in, fill in gaps, linger in the adrenaline. The part that does feel different is also related to the increase in genre BLs; genre stuff in general tends to get more attention in fandom spaces, and the way people are functioning as fans feels different in that they're bringing the way they interact with genre content to BL as BL has started having larger and better funded genre content. I'm thinking about those early genre BLs like He She It, My Dream, Love Poison, Golden Blood, So Much In Love, Why R U....we started getting genre shows in BL in I think 2017 and basically had 1-2 a year until 2020ish and then it increased from there; and the ones that had funding and decent distribution got engagement until they started going off the rails, and then they had even more engagement and then fell off. I don't think it's a coincidence that the shows last year that got people to write meta were La Pluie, Be My Favorite, and I Feel You Linger in the Air. When a show is building a world, there's more to say and interrogate about it, and when a genre show fails, it can fail more spectacularly than a regular romance story. The most popular BL shows used to all be straight-up BL bubble romances, but I think genre shows really started to take over a greater percentage of the popular spots in 2022 and 2023. Again, the main difference here is that there used to be 1-2 stand-out shows per year, and now there are closer to 6+ per year, and as we got more stand-out shows the variety of what type of show stood out as popular has expanded. I do think the overall percentage of shows that are more standard romance plots has reduced, partly because Thai production companies are running out of popular y-novels to adapt. So I'm anticipating we'll continue to get more genre content going forward, and maybe a higher percentage of original works too.
Shows I'm Enjoying Right Now
Right now, the Thai shows airing that I'm watching are:
Cooking Crush
Dead Friend Forever
Cherry Magic Thailand
City of Stars
The Sign
Playboyy
PitBabe
7 Days before Valentine
For Him
Of those, I'd currently most recommend Cooking Crush as a generic BL recommendation. Dead Friend Forever is very good, but is not a romance and is difficult for some to watch (there are a lot of dark themes in addition to the gore and scary bits).
Tumblr media
Cooking Crush is doing so many things I love. I've written about the way it's set up its major conflict to be amongst the friend group here, and way the show is depicting communication between the two main characters and how they improve their communication with one another as they get closer here. Two of my biggest BL pet peeves are a conflict for the sake of a dramatic penultimate episode that ignores or retcons a character's growth or the building of trust that a couple has already gone through in the series, so the fact that this show is working so hard to establish strong communication between its leads and then setting up the significant drama to actually about friendship rather than romance is something I cannot overstate my excitement about. To tie this back into what I wrote above, this reminds me of Diary of Tootsies and I mean that in the best possible way.
Tumblr media
Dead Friend Foreever is, like I mentioned above, not a romance; it's a slasher horror melodrama with a very well established mystery, an ensemble cast of mostly hateable characters (which I admit isn't usually my thing, but since they're likely all going to die as a result of the genre they're in I'm finding that more tolerable than usual, and there is at least one character I like). DFF did a great job of structuring the story for the ultimate payoff of information reveals. There are a lot of shows that have been messing with non-linear storytelling recently, Cooking Crush being one of the ones that actually does this poorly in my opinion, but Dead Friend Forever effectively uses non-linear storytelling so that we find out important pieces of information about particular characters at a time when that information will have the most emotional impact on what is happening in the "present" of the storyline. Every time there is a reveal, it informs what we've already seen, recontextualizes it, and means we understand some of the character motivations and actions differently from when we saw them the first time. I mentioned above that there are dark themes in this show; one of the things that I really like about this show is that the impact of class is not glossed over, and that the consequences of these events feel very real for the characters; people do terrible things in this show, but these actions are not treated lightly by the show itself.
You'd think these two shows would have nothing in common, but there are things that they share that put them both in my top category. Generally, in both of these shows, the character arcs are clear and logical; when a character does something, even if I don't like the action itself, I can understand exactly why they that and can see how it matches where they are in their arc at the time. The shows show change in characters as a result of what they experience, and the relationships in this show really matter. When characters start acting in ways that feel out of character or against their own arc because they have to in order to drive the plot forward, I struggle to remain invested; that's not happening with either of these shows. Both of these shows also treat serious topics with seriousness, and consequences for actions are real and felt by the characters in the show (and if someone gets away with something, the show is clear that this is not just). Nothing has happened that hasn't been signalled or implied earlier. Both shows also have clear class consciousness and represent the disparity caused by classism in a critical/harsh light.
Tumblr media
Whew! I think I got to everything you asked. Thanks again for the extremely interesting question!

Tumblr media
alright, this goes out to you guys. just gonna build off of this post
(THIS IS ALL JUST MY OPINION, NOT FACT!)
soooo I think the reason there are so many contrasting headcanons is not only because of the open interpretations the games leave, but because of what kinds of kirby media people are introduced to at first. you got the main games, the anime, the mangas, the light novels, etc. which. wow that's a lot of material you can build on. AND CONSIDERING THE AMOUT OF LORE EACH OF THESE TOPICS ARE COOKING???? DAWG WH
and I GUESS I can understand why some hcs are so bizarre in other people's eyes. but the way this fandom handles those different headcanons is...a lil bad.
YES I KNOW THIS ISN'T SPECIFIC TO THE KIRBY FANDOM, but the whole reason why I'm making this is to at least understand why people take it so close to heart.
and. not calling anyone out. but I do see quite a lot of posts with people (critiquing? complaining?) about how popular headcanons "ruin" the fandom (and this goes with ships too, but I'll get into that later) and all I gotta ask is
does it really??? does it really ruin the fandom?
I'm just gonna say. no. it doesn't.
you are focusing on a small percentage out of...oh idk...AN ENTIRE FANBASE? at LEAST open up a little and find a new circle if it is bothering you that much. or better yet. BLOCK! filter out tags!
with the amout of differing kirby medias, please understand that there will be headcanons that will oppose yours and that's okay! just don't be a jerk about it!
--
NOW. with the ships. specifically metadede. gonna try to put my overwhelming bias aside for this one I promise.
though metadede is the most popular ship in the fandom, it still comes with it's critics. and some are. actually valid! such as their relationship doesn't immediately have to be romantic. it can be seen as platonic! and I can understand why people feel that way.
but things get sour when people immediately try to crap on it because in their eyes, and correct me if I'm wrong here, metadede overshadows every other ship in the fandom. you hardly get to hear about their rarepair because of how metadede is everywhere.
if you take a step back and really look. there is a reason it is so popular. because of the LARGE amounts of media they have together. in the games. in the mangas. in smash. in official art. I mean if you wanna count the anime go ahead.
what I'm trying to say here is that compared to any other character interactions, meta knight and dedede are definitely up there for the most interaction in the franchise. and I'm not trying to downplay any rarepairs or other ships with a smaller fanbase.
BUT DON'T BLAME THE SHIPPERS! they are only doing the same as anyone else, they are going off of what they are given by canon and simply building off of that.
though, because I am a metadede shipper myself, you can take this segment with a grain of salt.
---
in conclusion...people can have their different takes. and that's okay! having different opinions is what builds this fandom and draws the attention of so many. but please! do not take any of these takes personal!
If there is a point in here you would like to argue against or build on, feel free to do so. I'm open to any other views.

Greetings, Tumblr dwellers. I am here today with a bunch of bkdk/mha incorrect/correct quotes. Because I, unfortunately, am lacking inspiration to write anything else at the moment :[
Please enjoy.
□□□□□□□
Izuku and Katsuki: *arguing about something*
Katsuki: "Stop yelling at me, nerd!"
Izuku: "IM NOT YELLING AT YOU! IM SIMPLY... PROJECTING MY VOICE TO MAKE A POINT!"
Katsuki: "OTHERWISE KNOWN AS YELLING!!"
Izuku: "BUT NOW, YOU'RE YELLING!!"
Katsuki: "ONLY BECAUSE YOU YELLED AT ME FIRST!"
Izuku: *starts powering up one for all and charges at Katsuki* "AHHHHHHHH!!!"
Katsuki: *powers up his explosions and charges at Izuku* "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Izuku and Katsuki: *catches each others fists and begin making out aggressively instead*
Denki: "...."
Todoroki: *sipping coffee tiredly*
Denki: "So.... why were they fighting again..."
Todoroki: "Deku said he thought Bakugou was the better hero out of the both of them. Which made Bakugou extremely angry because he thinks Deku is the better hero out of both them, and it kind of escalated from there."
Denki: "...."
Izuku and Katsuki: *intense angry making out noises*
Todoroki: *continues sipping coffee out of his '#No.1 Wonder Duo Supporter' mug*
□□□□□□□□
Katsuki: "...."
Izuku: *standing in a slightly burnt looking pile of paper towles and plates covered in hot chocolate and feathers*
Katsuki: *watches as a featherless and slightly disoriented duck imerges from the pile*
Izuku: "I may have made a mistake..."
Katsuki: "Actually, it seems you've made several mistakes all within the past 5 minutes while I was changing my clothes"
□□□□□□□
Katsuki: "Hey, Izuku! What'd ya say about coming with me on a road trip to the mountains for some hiking?"
Izuku: "I would say 'yes', but Im still recovering from the last road trip we went on"
Katsuki: "Izuku, that was ten years ago, and we were in high school!"
Izuku: "And you got kidnapped! And we had to come and rescue you!"
Katsuki: "That was one time, Izuku. ONE. TIME."
Izuku: "Yes, and I would very much not like to repeat the experience!"
Katsuki: "We're full grown-ass adults Izuku!"
Izuku: "I don't care! It was a traumatic experience that could still happen now that we're adults!"
Katsuki: "We're two of the highest ranking pro-heroes in Japan! WE FUCKING BEAT ALL FOR ONE! I highly doubt anyone is going to try kidnap either one of us!"
Izuku: "...."
Katsuki: *incredulous annoyed silence*
Izuku: "I'll go pack my bags..."
Katsuki: *silent contemplating look of disappointment at his boyfriend's ridiculousness*
□□□□□□
Katsuki: "You have to make a decision."
Izuku: "I did. I've decided not to decide."
Katsuki: "We're in the fucking drive-through Izuku! You have to choose something to eat!"
Izuku: "I can't! It's too much pressure!"
Katsuki: "You're the fucking number one hero you live under pressure! And you can't decide what to eat at a drive-through!?"
Izuku: "That's different!"
Katsuki: "How is saving people from birning buildings less stressful than choosing a meal at a fucking fast food joint!?"
Izuku: "Because saving people doesn't involve having to choose between chicken nuggets shapped like dinosaurs or chicken nuggets shapped like space ships!"
Katsuki: "....."
□□□□□□□□
Katsuki and Izuku: *staring at horribly disfigured homemade clay All Might figure with a hand(??) sticking out of his head and four legs 3 of which look like tree stumps, that they made the night before while partially drunk*
Izuku: "So.... Do you think we can fix it?"
Katsuki: "No. And Im not even going to try"
□□□□□□□
Katsuki: *walking around a hero gala, his PR agent dragged him to*
Izuku: *walking slightly behind Kacchan, following him*
Izuku: "Where are you going, Kacchan?"
Katsuki: "Towards the answer of all my problems"
Izuku: But Kacchan, you're walking towards the exit"
Katsuki: "Exactly."
Izuku: "...."
Izuku: "Can I tag along with you, then? Because I really want to go home and finish watching the final episode of Sasaki to Miyano, but my ride won't be leaving for a while."
Katsuki: "Sure. We can pick up some ramen on the way to your place so we can eat it while we watch those two idiots finally get together."
Izuku: "Yay! Thanks, Kacchan! You're the best!"
Katsuki: "I know, I know. Now, let's get going before my PR agent catches me and makes me go talk to more people."

Welp! That's all I got for now! I hope you guys liked them!

Not a Zucest shipper (more into Maiko) but that scene where Azula isn't wearing makeup and she and Zuko are in her bedroom and she's all touchy-feely towards him was honestly more sexual and intimate than the Zvtara cave scene. Honestly I would argue that Azula is a lot more on his mind than Katara, who only comes to mind when she's convenient for tracking down Aang. Heck, I would even argue Zuko has more chemistry and investment with Aang than he does with Katara.
Maiko might not be my OTP but it is still a personal favorite because MY GOD, these two are clingy with each other and it's so fucking cute.
Zuko and Aang's friendship is legitimately one of the best parts of the show, and, ironically enough, their dynamic is the closest the show ever got to the fanon zutara idea of "this hero can tell the bad guy has a heart and wants to offer him the chance of being a better person", only without the romance part - but it could have totally made for a perfectly reasonable endgame if just a few details had been changed.
Plus everything about them meeting the dragons was absolutely iconic, from "I don't care what people said, you're pretty smart", to Zuko suggesting they think about their place in the universe, to AANG ASKING ZUKO TO DANCE WITH HIM, to Zuko looking Aang straight (hehehe) in the face and going "You are source of my fire by the way. No homo."
I just love it whenever these two are on-screen together.
As for the bedroom scene between Zuko and Azula in the awakening... oh boy, did my mind go straight to the gutter the first time I saw it (and every time after that too).
Grey Delisle, iconic voice actor, former stripper, and former narrator of trailers for porno movies, really took a look at this scene of her character's older brother coming to her bedroom in the middle of the night and thought "Wouldn't it be really funny if I added some incest vibes here?" (not that the animation itself made it all that difficult).
And yeah, Azula was definitively in Zuko's mind ALL THE TIME. Like, this boy was trapped in a cave during a snow storm, Aang's soul had literally left his body and, for some fucking reason, he just... starts venting about the sister he has not seen in years. Like, I KNOW they are just setting up Azula as the villain of the second season, but that came out of nowhere!
And him imagining her as the blue dragon that represents temptation and is whispering in his ear stuff like "Just give into it" and asking when he will be going to his bedroom, even after he said he doesn't feel like sleeping... buddy. Buddy. What the hell is this?
Also I can't find that video anymore, but there was some panel Bryke was at in which they were "suggesting" many ships to the audience - and one just happened to be Azula and The Blue Spirit. If someone has a link to it, please send it to me because the audience's outraged reaction was the funniest fucking thing.
In case any of you want to see Grey being chaotic as fuck, and making Dante all embarrassed (and flirting with him) I recommend you check out these videos because they are HILARIOUS!

I need to talk about wuthering heights hehehe... I can't stop thinking about it!!! I was shocked out of my body when Hindley dropped Hareton from the top of the stairs and then even worse Heathcliff saved him but then regretted it jdgszusjshssjjssjsjsjs and also poor Nelly, Hareton didn't remember her at all after she left :( Also I was initially feeling very sad about Linton cause of how Heathcliff was not really nice to him but then he was too selfish tbh. Do you think Edgar would have had Catherine run away with Nelly if he found that she was kidnapped and forcefully married to Linton? Also Joseph was sooooooo annoying I especially liked it when Catherine scared him in the start that yes I'm a witch. Like she is a legend. Her and Hareton sjdghsisusjsnshshsnsshzhzysh!!!! Throughout the book I was feeling so saaaaaad about Hareton like he didn't deserve any of what he faced!! And what's worse that he was intelligent enough to see how far behind he was others cause of education and for Catherine to be the one to tease him honestly broke my heart jxhdhshshsshsh Edgar was tooooo good!! And Hareton did I mention that I absolutely love him? He was probably so conflicted when everything was happening cause he liked Cathy and also we can see he had a sense of good and right cause he would defend her but also he thought good of Heathcliff so he couldn't really go against him (or am I being delusional here? We don't get his pov 😭) dheuwhshsshwjwjw I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS BOOK AHHH!!!! What adaptation should I watch? I have no idea. Heathcliff and Catherine 1 as characters were soooooooooo interesting. Isabella what a legend she is!! Attacking Heathcliff with a knife, ensuring he cannot use her to inflict pain on Edgar and then she ran away from him!!! I LOVED HER. Ok that's quite big of a rant 🙈🙈🙈
I TOTALLY GET WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT HARETON, HE IS THE BEST! Poor boy was treated like dirt since the day he was born but I am SO HAPPY he got the ending he deserved. Even though Cathy 1 and Heathcliff are iconic, the second generation was my favorite. I adored both Catherine and Hareton and shipped them super hard ajddkdk. The way she taught him to read!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY HEART <333333333 and he tried to be better for her!!!!!!!! Despite everything and his cruel life, he tried his best to be worthy of her love aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. 🤎🤎🤎 Them breaking generational curse at the end by falling in love and (hopefully) leading a happy life!
(unrelated by why do I always think of Jess from Gilmore Girls when I think of Hareton, help)
Oh god, I get shivers every time I remember how Heathcliff forcefully married Catherin to Linton... He literally locked her up, like BRO. Heathcliff was devil for real, awful and horrible, but somehow I still can't bring myself to fully hate him. I think he's very fascinating as a character which is why he stays in your memory.
And I agree on Edgar, he was very sweet! <3 Isabella too, YEEES GIRL SHOW HIM TEETH <3
Btw, I imagine Joseph as Argus Filch from Harry Potter ajdjdksk.
"I can't stop thinking about this book" girl, same, because every time it rains and it's all gloomy and misty outside I start acting like I am Catherine myself. Oh, and about adaptation I think the most famous one (and the most beloved one) is the movie from 1992. I don't think I have ever seen any WH movie from start to finish now that I think of it which is sad cause I adore the book, so if you ever come across any version you think is cool, please let me know!
P. S. Now that you have read the book, listen to this and be as dramatic as possible while listening to it ;))

it's funny that 2/3 of the companions i ship astarion (the 3 being halsin, wyll and karlach) with are people who are objectively just lovely, selfless people but in a way that's just... too far. both in their own ways don't acknowledge they give/have given too much away for the good of others and a big part of the healing they need is setting even a single limit on what's "too far".
(under the cut cos it got long but this is more a ramble about character dynamics than romantic stuff so please enjoy even if you don't care for the 'ship' aspect. ive also got a LOT to say about karlach but i don't here im sorry i love her so much pls--)
wyll's willing to give his immortal soul (TWICE) for the sake of a city and father that turned his back on him with barely a moment to reflect on the unfairness to himself (at least in a 'and that's why it shouldn't be expected of me' way, anyway). halsin's given a hundred years of devoted research to the shadowcursed lands and cut himself off from deeper connections in order to remain committed to lifting the curse, not the mention the way he skirts around really acknowledging his trauma from the Underdark as a trauma instead of just a Fun Halsin Fact!TM
now... like all relationships between companions this is a compelling area without any romantic undertones, this is more what's driving my interest in the ships at all, but i find the above level of self-sacrifice really interesting in contrast to astarion. similarly, setting boundaries doesn't initially come naturally to him - he's not in the practice of being able to say no, and getting through the 'disgust' is something he tries to handwave as worth it for the rewards. but when in control, he's very much got selfish goals in mind. personal safety, mostly, being considered useful enough to keep around under the protection of the artefact. and in addition his moral compass is very much not aligned with the above, but does seem to shift in that direction the more compassion he's shown. it's never all the way flipped but... still.
two things that are interesting about that - both the selfish and selfless goals are, in isolation, completely understandable? save a city? well that's a good thing! protect yourself? can't argue with that!! but "no matter the cost to my mental and physical health" ooh never mind. astarion is, out of the three, seemingly much better positioned to understand and admit that? which is what's particularly interesting about either wyll or halsin's relationship (romantic or not) with him. cos any efforts they make to help astarion out with his own boundary issues and healing creates a big ol' elephant in the room with their own deal that i think astarion would, like, push back on y'know? he's already incredulous about heroes and do-gooders for both understandable and dnd-evil reasons but once an established rapport comes into play, then you get that incredibly tasty dimension of "okay, so you spent all that energy encouraging me not to loan myself out to make us stronger but you're gonna sell your eternal soul to a demon for a bit of information? and you're going to keep neglecting any aspect of your life that isn't shadow-curse related, to the point where you rushed in to enemy territory without regard for your safety and would have died if we hadn't stepped in?"
it's just such a chewable way of a bond developing right? both sides changing each other with something they initially might have found deplorable/insufferable about the other? but it both ultimately resulting in healthier boundary setting and the valuing of their own bodies and hhrhghruguhgguh. which is the sort of thing i Need when it comes to ships. man. oog. the list of little scenes i need to write gets longer by the second i swear. we can add shadowheart to the "dynamics i need to explore with wyll" list too ahrghr oogrhg
it's also making bl**dweave conceptually more interesting as an antithesis to this although i honestly haven't stumbled on anything that actually fits this particular niche so [handwaves] but to me that's two men who are gonna make each other Worse actually (this is not inherently a bad thing for Drama but all im saying is im pretty sure if you put those two together for too long you'll end up with a god + ascended ending ok). censoring the ship name cos i see much more fluffy stuff and im not here to ruin fun with opposing headcanons in a search ahaha

Nothing Lasts Forever
Written for the @samtember2022 prompt: goodbyes
"So this is it," Bucky said, scuffing his boot heel against the floor of the airport.
Sam rolled his eyes so hard, he gave himself a headache. "Oh my God, are these the same sad eyes you gave Steve and half the girls in Brooklyn the night before you shipped off?"
"No, these sad eyes are only for you," Bucky insisted, taking a half step forward before rocking back on his heels. "I might as well be going to war."
"You're going to babysit as part of your pardon," Sam scoffed. "You'll probably be behind a computer screen the whole time."
"That's assuming I keep my hands to myself when I meet Ross."
Sam inclined his head in acknowledgement. "Then you better do. It'll get you home quicker."
Bucky's wide eyes snapped up to Sam's face again and Sam couldn't bear to hear another very logical argument from him. "Come here, man," he said, holding his arms out.
Without hesitation, Bucky stepped into Sam's arms and hugged him tightly. Sam squeezed back even tighter. Tactical error: this was much worse than a logical argument.
"You'll be gone a few weeks tops. That's about how long anyone can stand Walker," Sam pointed out.
"That's gracious," Bucky said into Sam's shoulder. "This is only happening because we managed to keep him from tearing anyone else in half and Ross still thinks I'm a rabid dog."
"Don't think about Ross," Sam suggested. "Trust me, that's the only way to stay sane around him. Just think about how good the food's gonna be when you get back and all the new stories AJ and Cass will have for you."
"Is that how you do it?" Bucky asked without picking up his head.
"Every time," Sam confirmed. He pressed his face to Bucky's hair briefly and didn't think about the fact that he wasn't going to smell like Sam's shampoo by the time he got back. "Go save the day, hero."
"Or they'll kill me for trying," Bucky scoffed.
They parted reluctantly, fingers trailing over arms and hands to other fingers, tangling together for another few seconds before Sam fully stepped back. He ignored the look that passed over Bucky's face.
"Be good," Sam said.
"I don't think that's what they're paying me for this time."
"For me?"
Bucky let out a whine that Sam knew he'd deny for forever and stepped in for another hug. How had Sam ended up with a codependent super soldier? And, more importantly, when had he gotten so attached himself?
"I'm supposed to be a sidekick. The name Bucky is not a hero's name."
Sam laughed and pushed Bucky towards his loading tunnel. "You tell them that when you land and maybe they'll listen."
For a moment, they just stared at each other. Then they broke at the same time and strode towards each other to meet in the middle with a kiss, which Sam swore he wasn't going to do in the airport.
"Okay, okay, I'm serious now," he said against Bucky's mouth. "Go do your job. I have to do mine."
They parted again and Sam watched Bucky resolutely turn away he made it about four steps before he spun on his heel and walked backwards so he could keep his eyes on Sam. When Sam grinned, Bucky smiled back, even as he disappeared into the plane.
Sam's fingers fell to his pocket, where Bucky had slipped something into it. The dog tags he pulled out were not his own. He passed his fingers over Bucky's name and tried not to let it become a bad omen. It was a promise.
---
"Please stop moping," Joaquin groaned from the opposite side of the carrier. "You're affecting my mood."
"I'm not moping," Sam grumbled back as he flipped a plate on Redwing’s undercarriage open and then shut, open and then shut, open and then--
Joaquin yanked the drone away and tucked it against his ribs. "Come on, I know that it sucks that he isn't here. I don't even really like him and it sucks. But we've got to focus."
Sam tried to glare at him, but it was a little like glaring at a grinning puppy. Especially if the grinning puppy was right. "Can I have Redwing back? I was running diagnostics."
"You weren't," Joaquin correctly argued. But he passed the drone over. In turn, he pulled out his phone. One of these days, Sam was going to ask him how he had reception so high up. Maybe Sam could send Sarah a picture of the clouds or something.
It only took a few seconds for Joaquin to start snickering at something. He was always snickering at something on his phone. Usually an animal video. Sam could use a distraction. "What's so funny?" he asked.
"Oh, it's complicated," Joaquin said flippantly. Another few seconds passed and he sighed, like Sam had really pushed him. "Alright, Bishop is complaining to me because Belova is complaining to her, but she can't answer Belova directly."
Sam frowned. "Yelena is texting Bishop?"
"Something like that. I'm not explaining it. You'll put an end to it. But apparently you're not the only one moping."
"I'm not moping," Sam repeated. "What is Kate saying?"
Joaquin grinned at Sam. "Well, Belova is complaining that Bucky is ruining the whole mood of the mission. Says he hasn't stopped complaining about not being able to see you all week. 'I wonder what Sam's doing. I wonder what he made for dinner. I hope he's sleeping. I should be anywhere else but here,'" Joaquin said in a bad impression of Yelena doing a bad impression of Bucky.
Sam rolled his eyes and couldn't decide if the warm feeling in his stomach was pleasure at being missed or irritation at the younger heroes (?) for making fun of Bucky. Definitely the irritation, he decided. Obviously.
"You shouldn't gossip about your team members," Sam said diplomatically.
"Uh, I'm team bonding," Joaquin argued, holding up his phone. "Bishop is in my cohort, like it or not."
Sam pulled out his own phone--which had no reception, thank you--and flipped to his screen of texts with Bucky. What had once been a very active thread had become a line of unanswered texts. It was mostly things he was reminding himself to say to Bucky once this whole Thunderbolts experiment was over. It was not proof that he was desperately bad at not talking to Bucky.
I'm fine, he sent.
I made rice and sausage and beans last night, but I was too nervous to eat it.
I've been freezing your favorites when I make them.
I'm sleeping fine.
Bed's kind of big. And cold without my space heater/ thermal weighted blanket.
He wondered, then, if Bucky had a list of undelivered texts too and he wondered what all they said.
I miss you too.
I can't wait until this goodbye is over.
"Now you're looking better," Joaquin teased. They must have been close to drop because energy and excitement was radiating off of him. Sam felt it stirring in his gut too.
"Nothing lasts forever," he said, following Joaquin to his feet to begin strapping his wings on properly.
Well, Sam thought, fingers brushing over the dogtags in his pocket, maybe somethings did. But not goodbyes.

Rating Mongolia ships lel
Monchu: 9/10 I love hatesex and terrible relationships and watching divorced people argue about divorced people things.
Tibmon: 100/10 this is endgame for me. Tibet is his weird girlhusband. Show some deference to your spiritual leader™ Mr Mongolia
Turkmon: 2/10 I really don't think Mongolia cares about Turkey that much sorry. Turkey tries to LARP as a steppe nomad to get Mongolia's attention and he probably finds it annoying. Though this could be funny so that's why it's a 2/10
Monpan: 7/10 I need them to be angry naked wrestling together right now actually. Bear on bear lurveee
Kormon: 6/10 they have some pretty interesting history together also South Korea has Mongolia in a chokehold right now when it comes to K dramas and the amount of Korean stores and products in Mongolia. Only getting a 6 because I haven't had much interest in it so far.
NKmon: 7/10 ok so this could also be quite interesting as NK does actually have a pretty good relationship with Mongolia and they have a shared history when it comes to communism. I've heard it be called a "special relationship" because Mongolia manages to keep good ties with both North and South Korea without really stepping on either of their toes. I should probably explore it more
Rusmon: 5/10 So this could either be done really well or really badly depending on who's handling it lol. I do like how complicated the relationship between them is and I sort of have an idea of what my interpretation is but unfortunately I got turned off from wanting to explore it more fully. So only 5/10 from me. Maybe some day
Monviet: 5/10 there's a very specific AU I have which I think their relationship is funny in but I'm. Not giving the details here it's way too raunchy. Sorry. Other than than I think it has the potential to be an interesting relationship especially considering modern history
Indmon: 7/10 I need India to serve Mongolia food that will destroy his intestines please thank you
Tuvmon: 8/10 they have a long history together and I need to watch them arguing over who's the better throat singer. For research purposes. Also Mongolia unironically believing that Tuva has a stealing problem makes me cackle

Hey so, if this is what the anon referred in regards to their claim that Chosen and Second are family, i'm gonna have to go "I respect your interpretation of it, but please also respect mine"
DJ points out that "they're related," to which Alan hums in agreement. DJ pauses, and goes "...in a way?" and Alan hums again, not elaborating further than that. The video is timestamped if you want to watch it yourself.
The word "related" has more than one definition:
Belonging to the same family, group, or type; connected. Associated with the specified item or process, especially causally.
The way I hear this is that they're not necessarily related, but correlated.
Sure, it could mean they're family. But it could also mean that their relation is simply through the fact that they have similar names and nothing else. Their relation could be through the same person drawing them into existence. Their relation could be that they're soulmates, or that they function like Avatars do in ATLA.
Maybe you could argue that, because they're made of the same code (which I personally don't think they are anyway), they're...biologically related to each other. Except the three hollowheads are man-made in a computer. They're not born like the average stickman assumedly is—we don't even know if they procreate like humans. It's so abstract, dude. Not every type of relationship nor worldbuilding (especially that of a virtual world) functions around the hiearchy of a core family.
...What about a ship like Chodark, too? They were made by the same person, were they not? Chosen and Dark share what could potentially be seen as a father. Like, I see them as brothers (though not for the same reason I just mentioned), but I respect that others don't. Second just appeared on his own despite his name being tied to Chosen. Alan agreeing to them being related could refer to so, so much; it doesn't necessarily mean familial relation. Being soulmates doesn't necessarily mean the relationship has to be romantic either, you know?
"Related" is not a word that explicitly means "blood-related."
The "source" for this claim that they're related in a familial way is... incredibly vague and, more likely than not, left up for interpretation like many other things that Alan does with AvA/AvM. King and Purple are pretty much the only ones whose dynamic is fully confirmed by the shorts themselves that it's clearly meant to be a father-son thing.
Them being family is, from what I can see, a fact extrapolated through word of mouth. None of the people claiming this type of relation had anything to back up their claim with.
I get that there might be a certain hidebound fanon you (or more) have established, but when someone challenges it with a vastly different version, please remember that it's just that—fanon. Alan has more than once gone "that's how I see it" when addressing things such as the ages of Second+RGBY. In other words, he does have his own interpretation of things, but he clearly also wants fans to come up with their own.
If Alan clearly, explicitly states that they're related in a familial way, then of course I'll stop shipping them.
...But until then, just block and move on. It's better than actively complaining about it, or heading into my dm's and attacking me/accussing me of shipping incest when the reasoning for your claim is flimsy at best.
All in all, it's not that deep. They're stickmen. Please close your browser and take a breather before engaging in discussions about why some people like to draw them kissing. I'm just here to have fun, and so are you. Let's not attack each other because our interpretations don't align.

In Defense of Vincent Brooks
I’m obsessed with Vincent and I can’t stop defending him. Right now, I’m feeling pretty mad because I recently got into a fight with Twitter over Vincent and the discussion ended up being not productive at all and just ended in insults and lost arguments. I think the things that make him divisive are actually what make him well-written as a character.
TW: SA, Domestic Abuse, R word, Cheating
Okay, let’s start with the number 1 argument:
“Vincent cheated!”
You are looking at the game from a superficial perspective. I’m sorry if some of y’all were in a bad relationship and were triggered by Vincent’s story. You have my sympathies. But please don’t look at the game as some simple typical story about someone cheating on their significant other. Vincent never asked for some random girl to come up and molest him. We never really see Vincent actually make a move on Catherine, it was always Catherine first. We are seeing through Vincent’s perspective who doesn’t remember the details and thinks he’s cheating! If you look at the big picture, because of these things, you can see that the cheating angle was never clear cut in the first place.
“Vincent should’ve said he had a girlfriend”
Who doesn’t even treat him nicely in the first place? I won’t argue with you that Vincent shouldn’t have been so codependent on two Karens and I’m not going to trash you if you ship Vincent and Katherine but the entire point of the game is Vincent trying to figure out what he wants in life. You don’t just get out of high school/college and suddenly know what you want out of life. Adulthood is just the beginning. You may not have cliques and peer pressure anymore, but you have careers, families, relationships etc. which can be just as hard and confusing. Vincent is stuck between a girl who he has loved for so long and a girl who loves freedom just as much as he does and on top of that, both treat him like shit! Of course that would be confusing. It doesn’t mean he’s a cheater because he doesn’t make a move on Catherine in the first place, he’s just confused.
Vincent should've told Katherine that he cheated
Excuse me??? Vincent should've told Katherine that HE FUCKED UP? Don't you realize that we're talking about a fictional character here? Most cheaters or people who have done something wrong would NOT FLAT OUT TELL the person they KNOW is going to punish them. I mean, yes, he was under the influence, but often people don't forgive others for using the alcohol excuse.
“Rin doesn’t deserve him because he hit her!”
Which he tried to make up for? I won’t argue with you that that was rude. What I will argue with is saying that he doesn’t deserve Rin for this. Vincent just lightly slapped Rin, which was probably accidental because sometimes we get so stressed that we literally can’t control ourselves. Plus, friends fight and break up and make up. That doesn’t make them bad people or that they don’t deserve each other. Vincent can get back with Rin and start a healthy relationship.
“Vincent is a completely horrible person with no redeeming qualities. He is the worst.”
Oh God, so much to unpack here…
First of all, are we talking about Catherine or something? Have you guys not played Full Body or even interacted with any of the sheep or bar patrons? Have you fallen for the harmful misandry messages? Are you trying to be hyperbolic on purpose (because that's real funny man, real funny.👏👏)? HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO CATHERINE IN THE FIRST PLACE OR ARE YOU JUST TOO BLINDED BY YOUR TUNNEL VISION WITH VINCENT'S FLAWS? Look, I am guilty of feeling strongly about some very awfully behaved fictional characters, but as someone who used to dislike Vincent, even I wouldn’t be foolish enough to say this. I dislike Caillou, but I would not call him a bad person. He’s a toddler with barely developed morals and parents who don’t discipline him. If you think about it, nobody in Catherine are really much better than Vincent. They all have different issues, but that doesn’t mean they’re angels either. In fact, Erica, Orlando, and Katherine have all manipulated and lied to their partners just like Vincent yet somehow Vincent is the worst? WE HAVE A SUCCUBUS R WORDING, ABUSING, and MOLESTING MEN, A BARTENDER TRYING TO KILL MEN VIA NIGHTMARES, A MAN WHO GIVES NO FUCKS ABOUT LIFE OR PEOPLE IN GENERAL, TELLS HIS FRIEND TO GO CHEAT ON HIS GIRLFRIEND, BULLIES A FRIEND FOR BEING THE YOUNGEST, IS CONSTANTLY INSENSITIVE TOWARDS SOMEONE GOING THROUGH THE WORST TRAUMA IN THEIR LIVES AND STARTED A SHADY FISHING BUSINESS AND SOMEHOW VINCENT IS.THE.WORST?!?!?! Vincent is not a terrible person just because he’s meek and cowardly, those traits aren’t inherently bad traits to have. Vincent CAN be a bad person, but that’s only if you’re going for Catherine. In the other endings, he becomes a better person. That’s what character development is all about. If Vincent hadn’t made those mistakes, there would be no conflict or character development. There are characters people love dearly who act much much worse than Vincent, yet people despise and demonize Vincent because he’s a “coward”.
“Vincent deserves everything he gets”
Okay, I’m going to repeat some of the things I said in the Jerry Smith defense post that I made (which I will admit, I don’t even like Jerry anyway, I just feel like people saying he deserves all the abuse he gets and that he is the worst while we have Rick and Beth sitting over there is pretty disturbing and confusing to read). Jerry is, you guessed it, another meek and cowardly underdog character who everyone loves to hate on. Again, you need to look at the big picture instead of what a fictional story full of asshole characters are saying. Yes, Vincent should get consequences for his actions but the consequences he gets are often too severe because again, THIS IS A FUCKING VIDEO GAME. The game is not trying to send any positive messages about dealing with men who are sheep and have commitment issues. We only have that conflict because it makes a story interesting and unique. We love to see characters struggle and try to overcome it. But saying that Vincent truly deserves all the horrible trauma, near deaths, and abuse he went through is the disturbing part about it. Again, I and many others are guilty of saying fictional characters need to be cancelled or killed, but that doesn’t mean it’s a logical thing to say.
“Vincent is a pussy”
Uh… yeah? Again, that is the whole point of character development? Not everyone needs to have a flaw where they're only rude or amoral or arrogant. And did you not pay attention to the fact that this dude got r worded, molested, abused, pressured, accidentally cheated, and had to survive through 9 days worth of sleepless nightmares climbing blocks and running from monsters? What were you expecting? Vincent to suck it up and be a typical overly assertive, opinionated protagonist who shows no emotion to the things he was going through? Would you think differently if he was a woman? We need more emotionally vulnerable men in fiction!
Do you just hate passive characters in general? If so, okay, but that doesn’t make them bad characters. Passive characters can be written well, but the problem is most people write them this way just to be the underdog or because they’re too lazy to have that protagonist further the plot or have any other traits besides being passive and nice. At least Vincent is a multi-dimensional character, he does further the plot (by lying and hurting K/Catherine), and does have some good reasons for being scared. The major problem with him is that your choices don’t actually matter until the end.
But put yourself in Vincent’s shoes. How would you feel if you had to survive through all the stuff he was going through? Even if you may not understand the codependency issues or his tendency to hide and lie his way out of everything, I doubt you wouldn’t lose it as well. Some of y’all might even act way worse than Vincent ever had. You probably only hate him because he’s a vulnerable, scared man who expresses his emotions over the things that he was going through.
Edit: Oh, here's another common complaint I found.
"Vincent didn't tell Toby about Erica's gender"
Y'all are just looking for any reason to shit on Vincent huh? Not that many of y'all's takes weren't bad and shallow enough, but I digress. Why should Vincent bear the responsibility of telling Toby about Erica's past? That is THEIR relationship and THEIR business. In reality, Erica was more in the wrong for not being honest with Toby. I don't even think this is the case of being socially awkward or impolite. It's reasonable enough for Vincent to assume that since they were in a relationship, Toby possibly could've already known about Erica being transgender unless they were actually seeing Erica lie to Toby.
ERICA was the cause of the strain of her and Toby's relationship, NOT Vincent and his buds. But again, you just like to ignore everyone else's actions and think of them as perfect or good human beings, while Vincent is the one who gets all the shit because he is the opposite of them. Unconfident, unassertive, fearful, insecure, and socially awkward and again, none of these traits make someone a bad or evil person.
I’m not trying to say that you should like Vincent and I’m sorry if I may have overreacted a bit (trying to be nice, I swear). I just feel disturbed by some of the things people have said about him and to me during some of our arguments. I understand he may not resonate with many people, especially westerners. But I feel like people can often be a bit too hard on him. I understand feeling strongly about fictional characters, I often get like that too, but I’m just hoping my essays would get people to see Vincent in a new light instead of this shallow black and white protagonist and inherent hatred for any meek character.
The point of his character isn’t to be universally relatable nor is he the typical stoic badass protagonist. Not every character needs to have either one of those traits. I’d much rather watch a quirky character in a quirky story rather than a character who acts exactly like what I see in everyday life. I admit, I don’t entirely relate to Vincent either. I would never cheat, lie, smoke, drink, or stay in toxic relationships. And anyone who knows my account knows that I am FAR from meek. But Vincent isn’t supposed to be a role model so…
But let’s be honest, as someone with severe anxiety, I would break too if I was in Vincent’s situation and I’m sure anyone would. I’d likely actually go crazy. Dude got sexually assaulted, believes he may or may not have cheated, and had to solve complex puzzles and get chased by monsters in an ENTIRE week. And on top of that, no one gives a fuck about him or treat him kindly but Rin (the only one he acts normally toward), which he loses midway in the game. How would you expect him to be sane and well-adjusted from that?
I’m not trying to say Vincent is perfect because he isn’t! But he is not an irredeemable devil. No one in the game is besides Catherine and the Boss. Vincent isn’t supposed to be perfect because again, there would be no character development if he was. Vincent tried his best, many people don’t even care to fix their issues or take responsibility for their mistakes unless maybe they get some huge wake up call while Vincent tried to fix his mistakes before getting those wake up calls. Some people go completely off the rails. We got to give Vincent credit where credit is due for trying to clean up his mess and try to be a better person even if he stumbled alot because growth isn’t linear or easy.

unpinning my nice fun positivity post because I want to talk a little about this space that I've created. I think a dni is stupid because people never listen anyways, which is why I haven't had one, but I still see the value in at least telling people who this little corner is for.
also YELL AT ME ON DISCORD I'M woahits_alex.mp3 IF U ASK ME ABOUT FIC RECS FOR MY FANDOMS I'LL CRY WITH HAPPINESS
you are welcome here:
- ALL queers. trans men, trans women, nonbinary, intersex, xenogender, "contradictory" labels like mspec gays/lesbians lesboys/sapphileans (omg it's me!!), slur reclaims, detransitioners who are not transphobic, mspec lesbians, aro/ace and all variations thereupon, unlabeled, questioning, etc. I love all of you. I love the community that we have. we are family, whether or not some of us want to be, and exclusionism is Not Funky Fresh!!
- pro Palestine!! I don't rb posts as much (I am scared of spreading misinformation) but I think I'll start doing that again! (don't forget your daily click guys)
- jewish people. I am specifically adding this one to say that because of the shitty Everything, I sincerely hope I have never spread any antisemitic rhetoric in support of Palestine, reblogs or otherwise. it is not your guys' job to educate me, but I hope it's clear that I'm operating in good faith.
- disabilities/cluster b disorders/systems/AAC users. I am not any of these things so if I say/do something out of line please tell me! but I love you guys and you're absolutely welcome here.
- proshippers (if this bothers you block and move on)
- furries. not personally one of y'all but I think you're neat :]
- literally, like, anyone, as long as you're not a dick
you are not welcome here:
- terfs, transphobes, exclusionists, anti-mspec, anti-lesboy, and people who think transandrophobia is "fake" or whatever. go away I don't like you (or at least be prepared to be blocked or yelled at)
- similarly to last, anyone who starts queer infighting or hates on less visible queers/strangers who don't "look" queer (I don't care if you think someone is cishet. you have no way of knowing that. let's stop hating people for immutable characteristics and start having thoughtful criticisms of people's actions thanks)
- ZIONISTS. BYE BYE
- (but also antisemites because come on now let's not do this. judiasm ≠ zionism)
- ableists, fatphobia, general dickheads. also if you're the kind of person who would tell me irl that I'm a failure for dropping out, I don't want you here!!! surprise!!!
- antis (again, either leave now or expect to be argued with)
other stuff under the cut bc this is already too long:
- I accept anonymous asks! and also non anonymous ones. ask me shit idk
- I am autistic and VERY gullible. if I reblog a "bait" post, or something that's clearly fake or a joke with a genuine reaction, I'm probably not playing some 5d irony chess I'm probably just stupid. y'all I'm sorry I'm trying :\
- I don't rb nsfw. not as, like, a rule, I just don't see the value in doing so lol. if I ever did I'd tag it and probably update this
- I argue with people!! I enjoy arguing with people!! usually it's in replies and not reblogs but still. if you are allergic to discourse maybe don't follow me? I also rb "discourse" posts, mostly transmasc support stuff, general solidarity stuff with the trans community or lgbt community as a whole, politics, current events, that kinda thing.
- this is, shockingly, supposed to be a fandom blog (I got carried away). current fandoms include: Ace Attorney (the one this blog was supposed to be about), Doctor Who (childhood hyperfixation come back to bite my ass), and Splatoon (no excuse). also MHA is basically my abusive boyfriend at this point but I'm trying to get better (not). you can find the records of my failing recovery at @alex-is-losing-sleep-over-krbk /hj (I also shamelessly rb my own posts over there lol)
and I guess since I'm mentioning fandoms, here my fav ships: wrightworth, klapollo, franmaya, thoschei, pearlina, agent 24. also somehow, completely inexplicably, cuttletavio. listen I read like one really good fic and I just think—
anyways, that's about it. love you all :]

Tumblr media
Light of Kshahrewar - Part One
Everything had been absolutely draining and much too loud all day. Alhaitham was extremely grateful to have his soundproof earpieces with him at all times, otherwise he was certain he would have snapped at the other sages. How dense does a being have to be? Let alone those who are considered sages of Sumeru, one of the highest positions throughout the nation blessed by Nahdia, the god of wisdom. Why must they argue about such trivial things, something that could be fixed so easily with the slightest bit of communication? The thought of somebody without a decent mind like Alhaitham taking over as the true grand sage truly concerned him. If anything the thought itself was rather daunting. Sumeru, instead of being known as the land of wisdom, would be known as the most idiotic land throughout the seven nations of Teyvat.
Shoving his key into the door, which was comically still tangled up with Kavehs, was twisted and pushed open. Immediately upon entering, books and blueprints were scattered all over the floor. Shutting the door with his foot, he locked it and tossed the two keys into the intricately designed key dish, courtesy of Kaveh. He had designed it himself, despite Alhaitham paying for the materials. Kaveh had begged to design 'decent furniture' for inspiration. Alhaitham finally agreed and let him. He couldn't let his roommate sulk otherwise that would cause problems for Alhaitham himself and he most certainly didn't want that. Thus, he practically shoved the bag of mora in his hands with a silent prayer to the god of wisdom to shut Kaveh up. It did work, and after designing said key dish, Kaveh finally had his inspiration back for a project he dubbed to be 'even better than The Palace of Alcazazaray'. How one would get a giant design like that from a mere key dish truly baffled Alhaitham, but whatever kept Kaveh happy right? Back to the matter at hand, he had decided to slowly make his way through the room following the trail of mess and various ink stains. He hated to admit it to himself, but after the day he had faced full of idiots he was finding himself growing angrier by the minute. He didn't want to deal with his own idiot he kept at home. Usually on any other day, he'd come home, ignore whatever mess was made and remind Kaveh (for the hundredth time) to do his share of the chores. Of course he knew that would fall on deaf ears, but he'd then retreat into his room and read until dinner. Alhaitham didn't think he'd be doing that today.
"Kaveh." His voice spoke as he pushed open the door to the architect's room where the mess seemed to be its greatest. He expected to see Kaveh hunched over his desk as per usual, in a world of his own whilst he would mumble incoherent things to himself and scribble on a half finished design. This time though, he saw Kaveh in the middle of his floor with a broken pencil before him and a ripped up piece of paper.
"If you're here to nag then I'm not in the mood."
'Neither am I.' Alhaitham thought, deciphering the rather sorry sight before him.
"I wouldn't have to nag if you kept things tidy and actually did your share of the chores." Kaveh had his head buried in his knees, his hand gripping onto his arm to shield his face and cushion his head.
"I just said that I'm not in the mood, Alhaitham." His eyes were fixed onto the ripped up paper and his legs seemed to drag him to it. Moving to pick it up, he caught a glimpse of a very detailed set of sketches before they were ripped from his hands. "Don't touch that!" Alhaitham was completely used to Kaveh shouting at him, it brought him great amusement so he'd jab at the architect to get him to yell more. It was a wonderful stress reliever and he couldn't help but adore Kavehs dramatics. However, this time felt different. It didn't feel light hearted, there seemed to be real weight behind his words - not that there wasn't usually but this felt a little more serious. You could slice a knife through the sudden wave of silence.
"Why are you sitting here feeling sorry for yourself when you could be working on that design you've tried to destroy?" It was beautiful. He paused as Kavehs sharp crimson gaze met his own, they were glassy. He needs to stop talking, he should give Kaveh some space. "So when you complain that you have no ideas, it's actually that you destroy them instead? Is it that you don't want to make a living for yourself for once?" Why is he still talking? Alhaitham knows that it's not the time to lecture him, but some horrid part of his anger seems to enjoy blowing off steam like this.
"Stop. Just... Just get out!" Kaveh threw the broken pencil at Alhaitham, but he just moved away and glared.
"That's rich, get out of the room I pay for? Surely you remember you didn't pay your half of the rent this month either." Kaveh hated the way Alhaithams gaze remained so calm, even as fat glistening tears made their way down Kavehs cheeks.
"If you don't want me here anymore then just say that! I'm sick of you dancing around things like they mean nothing to you!" … 'Like I mean nothing to you.' Kaveh wishes he added on that bit, but he didn't want to know the truth. He doesn't think he can face Alhaitham saying that he hates him.
"Fine, if that's what keeps you happy. I'm sick of the mess, I'm tired of coming home to your yelling. You're just as bad as the sages I dealt with today."
'Ah,' Kaveh thinks, 'he's had a bad day too then.' Maybe Sumeru was out to get them.
"Oh really? That's a miracle, the mighty 'Acting Grand Sage' of Sumeru who's known to be completely emotionally unavailable, is getting irritated by his colleagues!" Alhaitham narrowed his eyes. "It's not my fault I've got so much work to do before I even think about getting paid to meet your absolutely ridiculous rent deadlines!" The scribe simply rolled his eyes, ignoring the way more tears fell from his crimson eyes. Kaveh may be a dramatic person with rapidly fluctuating moods, but he hadn't ever seen him cry before. This was… new territory. One which both Alhaitham and Kaveh didn't seem too sure about stepping into.
"Ridiculous deadlines? Kaveh, it's the basics. They're bills, I don't control these deadlines. Don't be so dense." Alhaitham simply crossed his arms over his chest, glaring down at Kaveh who was still curled up on the floor. Did the architect always look so vulnerable and small like this? Why's he crying? Alhaitham's eyes trailed around the room, but he couldn't piece it together just yet. It was too messy. "Usually people can pay them on time, unlike you." He paused for a moment, hearing Kaveh sniffles. "Aren't you going to tidy this all up?" I need to see what's wrong, I can't figure it out like this. You're worrying me.
"I'll get to it! Just leave!" Kaveh yelled, hair scrunched up in his hands with his eyes shut tightly. Those tears were falling so much quicker now, Alhaitham couldn't handle it. How can he make it stop?
"Leave yourself, you're clearly not bothered." Kaveh's eyes grew wide, glossy and doe-like as he met the scribe's hardened gaze.
"Seriously? You're kicking me out right now? This is ridiculous! Every single time you swoop to a new low, Alhaitham!" He simply turned and began to leave the room only to return and throw Kaveh's individual key toward him.
"Leave." With that, Alhaitham dodged the mess as he made way for his room quicker than he'd like to admit. Kaveh's crying was soon muffled once again as he activated his earpieces. The sound was too much… Too heartbreaking. By morning, things would be like they never happened. They'd eat breakfast, nag at each other, and continue their work like usual - it was their routine. That didn't happen this time.
Upon waking, the morning sun filtered through the wider windows. Kaveh designed those. He had told him he needed more sunlight, especially if he were to read his books all the time. He didn't want Alhaitham to damage and strain his eyes, the architect said it would cause trouble for him else and he didn't want to deal with it. Thus the large pretty window in his room allowed sunlight to bathe him every morning, and the moonlight to shine upon the book's words every night. Opening his eyes fully, he sat up as the warm blanket fell from his body. It was… strangely quiet. Peaceful even. Alhaitham wondered when that would be broken by a certain roommate of his. Standing up, he kept on his nightwear for the time being for breakfast and stepped out into the hall. It's clean. Why was it clean? He was certain that there were ink stains and blueprints all over the floor… Did Kaveh truly take what Alhaitham said to heart? Hm, it was about time he supposed. Finally, a helpful roommate. However, upon entering the kitchen, Kaveh was nowhere in sight. Nevermind, maybe he was sleeping in today after all of this apparent cleaning last night. The scribe didn't mind, especially if the chores were done which, by some miracle, were done. Preparing himself breakfast wasn't exactly unusual, so he made himself something easy though the scent didn't exactly make things feel the same. It didn't taste as good as when a certain architect made it either. Kaveh's dishes were rather extravagant, Alhaithams were bland. After shoving the food into his mouth and swallowing, he stood and placed the bowl and cutlery by the sink. As an apology for not making breakfast today, Kaveh could wash up. Walking back out, he passed his room. It was silent and there were no loud and irritating snores that he usually heard at night that usually unfortunately sent him to sleep, there was nothing. Maybe he should check on him? Knocking lightly, the door seemed to push open. Why is it empty? Where's the mess?
"Kaveh?" Pushing the door fully open, he stepped in. Where was the colour? Where was his Light of Kshahrewar? Where is Kaveh? He… Truly moved out? "Kaveh… You fool." He took a deep breath in, Kavehs scent of pardisarahs filling his lungs. It was overwhelmingly comforting. "You didn't have to go." I didn't want you to go. He'd bring him back, he'd go out, find him drunk out of his mind somewhere and bring him back. It would go back to normal, the way it's always been - the way it should be. "Kaveh. Wait for me." He immediately left the empty room and returned to his own, getting his usual clothes on after having what felt like the quickest shower of his life. Something which of course Kaveh would scold him for… A scolding he strangely missed. Putting on his soundproof earpieces, he grabbed his key and opened the door once again. "Don't be too far, my Light of Kshahrewar."

Hey @perfectpoetryfest
I am that anon and I'll definitely remain anonymous coz I don't want a deranged jikkr like yourself coming anywhere near my blog.
I already said that this dumb thing doesn't matter to me at all but since you all have been coming to our blogs with these pics I thought I'll just let you know that those two aren't sitting together. Repeating this is making me feel dumb coz how is this so triggering for you that you've left 10+ comments arguing with admin??
I said that they aren't sitting together bcs jk's pic, which is clearer than that really blurry pic, where you all have pointed to a person who has a paper infront of his face as jk. The people surrounding jk are different than the ones sorrounding jm and that sheet for face person. Those were my only observations coz that's the most that you can observe from that microwave quality pic.
Didn't we get that very clear 59 and 60 pic yesterday? They are standing together in it and no one's denying it coz it's clear. They have enlisted together in a place where they know no one, it's only been 10 days, they are obviously going to stick together. I had already said this but you seem to have gotten stuck on the not sitting together part.
You didn't answer the admin's question as to why this is so important to you. Can you please answer this instead of skirting the que and asking a counter question? Why is this dumb thing so imp to you jikkrs that you are roaming around arguing with people over this? Everyone there is sitting with someone else, does that somehow prove that they are dating?
This is only the first batch of pics though. I am sure there will be more, clearer ones. You should put a hold on the gloating till then, although I will never understand what in these pics is even worth gloating about, even if they were sitting together these wouldn't even have been mid imo.
It's not like I don't know that tkkrs don't visit jikk blogs to gloat, we have our own set of shippers with similar mindset as you, we still have better things to gloat about. Speaking of pics worth gloating, did you not see that very clear tkk strip from jk's listening party? It was thankfully posted by jm first or your side would've jumped on the "tae is attention seeker" bandwagon again. Or that shirtless facetime one?
Did you not hear that jk wanted to join sdt as well? Said so himself with a very sad expression btw. Or that he sings "love songs" for tae? Or that he went out with not just tae but even his close friends? Goes on trips with tae(that pic where tae said they dressed each other) and his friends, that snowboarding one. He doesn't even need bh camera crew for those trips. You all desperately tried to paint that July sighting as a lover's retreat when we were pointing out at the clear presence of cameras and mics and it really turned out to be bh content after all.
Did you not watch that last bb? He wasn't even aware that jm still hadn't shaved his head. Now that's not very coupley of them is it?
This whole solo era has given us so many offcam (talking about bh cams here) interactions that tkkrs have made a whole calender out of them while jk and jm barely interacted for two mins outside of official setup. Your ship is nothing without bh. It was created by BH, is being relentlessly promoted by them and will def end the day they leave bh coz they were nowhere near each other without cameras the entire solo era . Jk even shared his solo with tae first.
Also, stop romanticising their military service ffs. Use some logic while thinking about this, I know it's a foreign concept to a lot of jikkrs but try for once. No queer couple in their right minds would want to go together in such an extremely homophobic place. Do you think a couple whose relationship is that old will be able to hide it for 18 months when being from BTS has already put a spotlight on them?
Wow I wrote quite a lot here huh 😳. perfectpoetryfest please do read it all. I am a 100% sure that you will not agree with anything I said here but atleast I am writing about tkk on a tkk blog, what are you jikkrs trying to do here anyways?
Oh boy. They're currently occupied but I'm sure they'll get to you, anon. You're also gonna have to take responsibility for the incoming deranged rants. lol

The stereotypeing for making fundy lovesick/clingy in some different fictions & george a bit*h in fwt fictions.
Okay ya'll someone really REALLY needed to step up and talk about that, but since none is willing to, I'm taking the bullet
There is this thing with fans making fundy in fwt and dnf naive, clingy and lovesick, which is annoying 🙄
Before you come at me yes I know c!fundy is quite clingy to people around him (especially c!wilbur back in the days)
Now I didn't say that in the start, I'll say it now
I am NOT making an argue wither fwt or dnf better, you're free to ship whatever you like
My argument is about how you stereotype the characters, that's all so please don't come at me saying stuff like dream loves george or fwt is better
Fundy WAS the one to constantly ask dream on that date, he was the one to confess, and the most to talk/prepare about the wedding
BUT after the wedding desister he was very much the most annoyed at dream, he kept calling back stuff that annoyed him about the relationship
Now I don't know about you guys but that doesn't sound clingy, desperate or lovesick to me,
And despite his anger about what happened he didn't do or say anything bad about George in that matter, his anger about what happened was directed at and only at dream.
In fact the one who's more clingy in the fwt relationship ever since the wedding was dream,
he constantly tried to get fundy back, so how come this went by unseen?
Meanwhile, many MANY fwt shippers like to make george the evil guy,
Okay I get it, he objected to the wedding that wasn't very nice of him really, but fundy himself didn't say anything about him being evil or smth, like I said his anger was on dream alone
And george did say later on that he wanted fundy, and was pretty much jealous dream was marrying him, fast forward saying he wanted to be the one fundy marrys
Looking at George's character,
he's not a bad guy, he likes his friends, and he wants to be king because that's what dream promised him
And he sleeps, like ALOT
Fundy and George's characters are very much alike to say the least,
Both are good and nice people who have suffered and been betrayed by people they trust,
However both have some kind of grey circle, one that they do things that are considered evil while still going back to being good afterwards
Like george betraying dream after he was dethroned
And fundy helping destroy lamburge after wilbur died (and he NEVER got blamed for it, everyone pretty much thinks it's teachno fault)
Both have similar nightmares/dreams,
My point is they very much are NOT enemies, so stop making them to be in your mind because of dream.
Dream as well in that matter, cares about both
Wither he loves fundy or george is not really important here,
All in all the moral of this post is
Fundy is not a lovesick puppy
George is not an evil assh*le
End Of Story.
