Do you think Garak smells nice? (Please help settle a debate. I say he smells very nice.)
Absolutely. I think Garak is extremely well groomed and smelling nice is part of that. In fact, he probably choses his scents very specifically to cater to his situation, so while your typical Cardassian scent might not be appealing to the average human or Bajoran, you can rest assured that Garak will still smell nice to anyone he expects to encounter.

going insane thinking about skk breakup dazai leaving the port mafia again because. he really just up and left without saying anything. not a word, not a goodbye, not a “chuuya would you like to come with me.” and he never said anything after. didn’t try to get in contact at all. no texts, no calls, no letters, no cryptic messages decipherable only to the both of them.
imagine being partners with someone. imagine forging a bond so strong that it’s been likened to a diamond sharpening another diamond. imagine spending three years with someone, forging a relationship, learning about each other and what makes them click and how to work together and how exist together.
imagine they throw it all in your face. they leave and not only do they leave, but they do so in a manner which shows that they never even considered you. they left as if your lives aren’t connected, they left as if it was the easiest thing in the world.
imagine everyone else finding out before you.
what was the past three years for then. what was them telling you that you gave them a reason to live for then. has it expired? has it run out? was it not enough? did they find something better?
and the lack of respect of it all. you never would have stopped them from leaving if they just explained why they had to. you would have been angry, you would have been pissed off because it’s the same story over and over again, you hurt everything you touch, you hurt everything you get close to, you’re never enough of a reason for someone to stay; but you would have understood. eventually. but they didn’t do that.
they wrote you so neatly out of their life that you wonder if you were ever a part of it in the first place.

the song im asking the DJ to play: going out in balkan with 3racha edition
chan: dodji tati which if you understand the language you’ll know immediately why i just know we’d both be into the same type of songs and he’d go fucking crazy for these lyrics (as do i. whenever a balkan man refers to himself as ‘tata’ im like bitch that’s ME and he’d be the same 100%) but also moje leto the australia reference would get him every time also this song literally sounds like something he’d produce in 30 mins just fucking around on channies room. the one downside is i feel like we’d be into the same girls and he’d be taking my spotlight w his dimpled short guy charm -__-
changbin: PROTEINI VITAMINI SAMO DA JE GUZA TOP this is a song abt working out btw LMAO it’s literally made for him also he’d be soooo much fuckin fun i can see us both fist pumping to this and šarafimo žarulje no idk the english term for that specific dance but one of those that men who can’t dance do even though he CAN dance but that’s beside the point.
han: some shit like bebo 3 that’s like still a club song but you’re remembering your ex you’re still in love with and fucking crying in the club (key voice you’re in the club?? I know key. me and jisung are both shocked he’s even there actually) alternatively suhi bc. well i’m giggling at the lyrics if you know you know but also he’d be the type to dislike new ‘sold out’ connect and only like their old ‘actual music’ stuff (and he’s kinda right about it too)
*takes bow*

I think the most damaging aspect mentally, as an author, of knowing ppl are creating private discord servers to rec fic to their friends is that for a while now I've had this very suspicion. I'll see groups of usernames leave kudos all over my works for various fandoms but they never, ever, even on a single fic, drop so much as an 'I enjoyed this! Thanks!' But I know they're passing it around in a discord server I'll never see and talking about liking it.
It's demoralizing and I just wish ppl understood that. I don't expect someone to read my fic and be inspired to create sistine chapel levels of gratitude posts/art/comments. But a simple 'hey this was good!' let's me know 'hey ppl like what I'm doing and it's worth it to continue to not just write but share!'

protip for making yourself write/edit multiple drafts, if you're a first draft-last draft person like me: write the first one by hand on paper. Preferably out of order. Then type everything up mostly the way you wrote it, editing as you go. Now open a second document and start rewriting everything again, this time in chronological order, editing again. Boom, 3 drafts out of the way right there.

The Early Bird (2003) & So This Is Nebraska (1980) by Ted Kooser
In Episode 276, Rachel shares two poems by her favorite Great Plains poet!
Rachel: Um, the thing I like is there's a real opportunity when you grow up in that area of the country. To kind of not have that kind of pride in what some people would consider like the simplicity of that experience, right? [...] There's a real opportunity for him to move on from that, but he loves and celebrates that place and still lives there today and it's very evident in his work. Uh, and I think it's really inspiring to people who are pursuing poetry or like recognize like, You're okay, right where you are, you know.
It's almost impossible not to think about Bob Hicok's A Primer, or Anna Journey's Mississippi: Origins while reading these poems. In my mind, they're all holding hands, swingin' them back and forth. If you’d like to hear more, you can do so here: One More Time, Dampen, from 5:55 - 18:08

No this is actually also part of why turning around and saying No Actually Brenner Is ‘Not What He Seems’ He’s Ackshully A Good Guy Forced To Do Awful Things is so fucking maddening - because it’s a complete betrayal of the story and the central theme. We already had Dr. Brenner Is Not What He Seems - that was all of season one! But what he seemed was authoritative and trustworthy! What he seemed was the face he put on for the underlings he sent into the Upside Down to get shredded, and for the Wheelers, and when he tried to talk Joyce around to ‘helping’ him in the final episodes, and even when he bargained with Hopper! And actually, he was bad! He was putting Will and El and the entire town in mortal danger for his own gain and saw absolutely nothing wrong with that! He regularly and knowingly sent people walking to their deaths with absolutely no compunction! He talks fatherly and doesn’t give a shit if anyone else lives or dies! He is already Not What He Seems, and what he Seems is a Good Guy Working Under Difficult Circumstances! That’s the lie!
And to turn around and say otherwise is to say that the story that you set out to tell is bad and stupid and wrong! Leaving totally aside all questions of morality or ethics or what this says about how the Duffers think about how No Cis White Man Can Ever Be Ackshully Bad, They’re All Just Misunderstood, this about-face is a fundamental betrayal and an undermining of the story they set out to tell and it’s plain old bad fucking storytelling.

So TK and Carlos got engaged without discussing their future plans for a family and kids?
Yes, it's a short clip, but the word choice is very specific, with TK asking pointedly, "Since when do you not want to have kids," and Carlos replying, "Since when did I ever say I did."
So TK proposed marriage with the assumption Carlos wanted a family. That's what is being said here. It’s canon.
They’re legit surrounded by kids in their close circle/found family every day, and the “writers” are saying it’s canon that it has never come up until now. I—
It keeps coming back to this for me: story execution > story idea.
Season 4 insists on following through on the delivery of ideas and arcs that, yes, could have been fascinating for character development if introduced much, much sooner. Exploring them now is terrible execution and character derailment (looking at you Carlos “flippantly jokes about the marriage I never mentioned” Reyes).
No matter how you spin it—at its core—it remains nonsensical. The writing on Lone Star has always been a rollercoaster when it comes to consistency, but Season 4 takes the cake.

I love ideas. I love headcanons. I’m alright with crossovers. But when we start blatantly lying about how a character would act in a given situation when we have ample canonical evidence suggesting they would NOT act that way, the confusion and/or criticism it results in cannot be brushed off or deemed unfounded when a liberty is knowingly or unknowingly taken.
