I feel like people who have to add '[insert] - phobic' whenever someone disagrees with something literally has no other way to refute something so they try and make your opinion look like a hate crime. Like, no Lizzo is literally just fat and people are mentioning it. She herself mentions it every second she can. And is always crying over how fat she is... Lizzo literally has a phobia against her own fat. And same thing goes for 'transphobic.' Like can y'all ever come up with an intelligent response or do your whole lives consist of perpetual victimhood? Get a life and you'll realize not everyone's "phobic" of your fat. Like damn. It's like people want to feel like you're fatphobic so they can finally feel special in their lives.
Edit: **PSA (apparently I have to give one)**

disabled pride month is a good time to remember that oppression, bigotry, hate etc. aren't phobias and saying so continues the stigma of phobias and mental illness as a whole. not only are you implying that being phobic makes us dangerous and horrible and oppressive, you're also implying that the actual oppressors can't help themselves as a mental illness is out of someone's control. you cannot fight anti queer oppression by further contributing to the oppression of mentally ill people, especially mentally ill queers. drop the -phobia suffix, be an ally.

phobia (specifically masklophobic and/or arachnaphobic) culture is hating halloween, and feeling so alien because everyone around you LOVES it. (also stressing out of your mind all during the days leading up to halloween)

just tried looking through phobia hashtags on social media to find content and to connect with other phobic people but 90% of the content was irrelevant because people still refuse to learn the difference between mental illness and bigotry.
like, saneists gotta stop clogging our hashtags, taking up our space, talking over us
tumblr has an actually phobic tag which is lovely but not very active. other social media don't have one at all. it's no actually autistic
and it's seemingly impossible to spread the word about such a hashtag because everyone who term-searches "phobia" will just find unrelated content about bigotry.
it's already hard enough because there's hardly anyone else who shares the same phobias i have and these people just take over conversations involving the term phobia
it may sound ridiculous to complain about a hashtag but hashtags are such important tools for internet communication and as we can see they are so easily misused by those in power, who are already taking over our conversations and further invisibilising us.

Phobia Does not only mean Fear!
I made this image back in February but I only posted it on my Insta/FB. I'm resharing it since it's Pride Month and Incase any of my fellow queer people gets into an argument with a homophobe/transphobe on any social media.
Feel free to take it if you know you will need it. These are literally screenshots of the definitions from Google.
Tumblr media
Original Status:
If some ignorant ass person states that they don't fear trans people or gay people or fat people and so on therefore they're not transphobic or homophobic or fatphobic and so on, please just show them this. I saved the trouble for you.
Long story short, Phobia doesn't also mean to fear something or someone it can also mean to hate/dislike someone or something. Literally Google is Free and Google is your friend.

the idea that it's supposedly super easy to tell "from context" whether someone is using "phobia" in the fear sense or in the aversion/hate sense is wild, because even as a phobic person i constantly get confused about what the fuck people are talking about when they describe something or someone as "phobic" in a construction i haven't heard before. you all have misused the term so much that i don't know what it means anymore.
(also bold to assume everyone understands the context of stuff as well as you.)
at this point when someone uses the term "phobic" in a way where it's not immediately
obvious to me that they're talking about an actual phobia, my brain just automatically enters defense mode and shuts down because i have to assume it's saneism (because surprise, continuous ableism is traumatising, like any oppression!).
(this is brought to you by a book that used the phrase "emotionally phobic" and i couldn't figure out if they mean averse to/hatred of emotion or afraid of emotion, all while my brain was screaming "probably saneism" at me. so yeah, congrats, you all's saneism has my brain so fucked and traumatised i can't focus on media anymore (media that's also trauma-focused, mind you.)
