Doing your share of the house work ie. Cleaning up your own shit, doing your own dishes after you’ve eaten and not leaving laundry on the floor is not ‘lightening her load’. That’s called being an adult and not treating your spouse as your mother.

The only way in which this would be seen as ‘lightening her load’ would be if you are under the illusion that all housework is women’s work and that you should be rewarded because once a month you do a couple of the chores she does everyday.

reading off-hand criticisms of marx in graduate textbooks is so funny because it’s never like, a substantial criticism of the things he said or the positions he took, it’s more often than not “marx did not consider that his political analysis bruises my delicate little intellectual sensibilities”

Today at work we learned we have to take all our holiday days by the end of May instead of the end of June and an INSANE little pantomime broke out where all my coworkers had to make a show of how little they wanted to take holiday days and how much they wanted to work. How they don't want to let the company down during a busy time and they're so bored when they aren't at work anyway. There weren't even any managers there it's insane.

I have to post this brilliant character study video analysis again and provide some commentary for it now that I have figured out what I actually want to say.

Five By Five Takes mentioned ‘Performance’.

“So much of Willow’s evolving identity is tied to the idea of performance. Becoming a competent witch helps Willow project a very curated idealized image of herself. One of the first iconic insults that Cordy makes towards her is about her appearance. It’s not just that she’s a nerd, it’s that someone else has dressed her. Think about the implications of that. So for Willow, her appearance, her identity and her confidence with magic becomes deeply entwined. And we can even see this with Dark Willow. Even grief-stricken, there’s a layer of performance here. Black hair, dark clothes, the corny maniacal villain lines. I’ve seen the dialogue here and Alyson’s performance get criticized as too hammy or cartoonishly evil but I think that’s kind of the point if we read Willow as purposefully putting on a front. So much of Willow has been costumes. This is just her latest and most intense.”

This piece of commentary is on the money for Willow.

I always talk about performance regarding Willow Rosenberg. I believe in this interpretation so much that I actually think Willow never appears authentically as who she actually is throughout her entire arc. But at the same time - I also believe that because her authentic self isn’t ever a solitary or specific thing at any point. Her identity is not solid or permanent. It’s malleable and fleeting. It fluctuates wildly all the time to the point where anything she identifies as is entirely performative. It’s only who she is to make up for her negative perceived image of herself and the image that she believes of others constantly perceiving of her. And both these images are one and the same. Because she deep down perceives of her character as the weak and ugly loser, she also believes everyone else that she loves and that love her perceives of her character that way too. And there is quite a few moments where there is evidence for this so she’s not just making it up entirely based on her paranoia of not having control and neurotic feelings of unworthiness. She has experiences where people do actually express that she’s weak and ugly. It’s just those people don’t really know her very well and therefore don’t matter. Like Percy for example. He directly expresses the way he perceives of Willow to his then-girlfriend and Willow hears these comments about her and immediately gets uncomfortable at the notion that Percy sees her as a nerd and therefore not physically appealing. It bothers her and is on her mind so much that she directly expresses it to Buffy over the phone what he said and immediately defends her character. She hasn’t been a nerd for a long time. She’s cool now.

Does she actually believe it or is she just performing? Is she just trying to tell and convince herself that this perception of her character isn’t true but ultimately fears that it is and always will be the truth about her?

Well, it’s hard to say for sure until her dream in ‘Restless’ that she feels this way about herself because there’s no direct statement of it by her. However, I am very well aware of this behaviour in insecure people. So no, I don’t believe she truly believes and perceives of herself as “cool now”. I think she’s just performing as “cool now” and that her immediate defensiveness proves that she is because truly authentic people don’t have to defend their their character at all. Like Oz. He is never boastful of his “cool” identity. Other insecure people like Xander point it out for him. He never needs to because, to him, it’s not a big deal if he is “cool”. He is just himself because he is happy being himself. He wears his confidence authentically and so “cool” naturally follows because he isn’t trying to be something that he is not. He never really needs to think about his identity. It’s his nature that he is conflicted on but that’s only because he is a werewolf. If he wasn’t - nothing would ever faze him. He’d always be confident in who he is or how he is. Contrasting somebody like Oz with Willow is quite the striking difference because while Willow is so insistent on performing an identity, Oz has no such needs or desires to perform as anyone. And I love how he always tries to tell Willow that she doesn’t have to prove anything to him for him to love her and stay with her. It’s not about her at all why he eventually breaks up with and leaves her. She’s the one that believes of it that way. Of course she would.

So ‘Performance’ is a key part of Willow’s entire arc. It’s practically the only thing that she ever does in the show. And sadly, this is never truly ever properly addressed or concluded for much of the reasons Five By Five Takes mentions. But it should have been because this was Willow’s real problem. Not addiction. That occurred because of the aforementioned issues. If they didn’t make it so much about the magic but rather how Willow uses it to offset her insecurities how the addiction becomes a major problem, then I reckon she would have had a better concluded arc. I have said that I do really like her endgame - but at the same time - I do have quite a few criticisms with it.

idk man i feel like a lot of people conveniently forget that 1. Carrie bullied a girl who lost her mom and who is struggling with her grief following her death (literally nothing can excuse that) and 2. Nick stood by as his girlfriend bullied said girl who lost her mom and who is struggling with her grief

maybe he felt uncomfortable, maybe he “tried” to make comments at Carrie to stop her but it was always a very half-assed attempt and he would then give up super quickly and move on

#plus nick only ever noticed julie AFTER her performance of bright in front of the entire school #anywa #jatp #at the end fo the day he’s just a teenage boy and still has so much to learn and so much growth to go through but he is a flawed ‘nice guy’#and no sad story can excuse carrie’s behaviour

it was a clear day today but. sunset is nevertheless at 4pm.

#that was 20 minutes ago. i return to being tired/unhappy.#i perform housework tasks. then i showered. found a band to keep my hair dry.#normally i am too depressed to conceive of it but i would like to try showering daily like a normal human being.#it is not too terrible if i fail because i am very strict in washing or wiping down as much of myself as possible daily anyway...#i don't care for 'self care is when bath has bubbles' type behaviour.#alleviate self hatred by ritualistically washing your face your ears your neck your feet and other such body parts.#mm. i think i treat my feet better than i treat myself psychologically.#giggles.

Meeru is absolutely backtracking and no I don't believe she's trying to be self critical for a second.

I quite literally explained to Meeru in my first response to her that Panda's behaviour is genuinely abusive and dangerous (for example, causing someone to relapse in their eating disorder). I even provided Meeru with a WHOLE LIST of the things Panda did which includes blatant racism, suicide baiting, victim blaming, and inappropriate behavior infront of and towards minors.

I then went on a provided Meeru with FOUR screenshots of Panda's behavior, one of the screenshots showing her saying that she wants Manchurians to be genocided. I then pointed out that Meeru's interest in Siberians and Northern Asians is purely orientalist because she has built her blog off of the back of Northern Asian and Siberian cultures, but when being told that her friend Panda is racist against Northern Asians and was even provided a screenshot as evidence for this, she STILL went on to call it "boring cancel culture".

In the first response I also said how MULTIPLE people tried to talk to Panda privately, and she did not listen. Her behaviour is not only dangerous but we have found out that Panda has been trying to control the narrative about what happened to people throughout the fandom and telling them absolute lies about what happened, concealing the extent of her abuse and bad behaviour and outright orchestrating a hate campaign against @/miyuecakes by not only spreading lies about her with 0 evidence throughout the fandom, but by sending her posse to harass her on tumblr.

How did Meeru respond upon being given a list of the things Panda did with four screenshots of ACTUAL evidence?

"Don't blame me for not reading all 80 pages!"

"My family is struggling!"

"I care about Siberians!"

"Why did this come out around Christmas!"

She's now backtracking saying that I can't blame her for not reading all 80 pages when

1) No one fucking forced her to release that post before reading the whole document and it's quite stupid of her to release that post despite apparently not reading it

2) Even if she didn't read the whole document? I provided her with screenshots of Panda's behavior and a list of the things she's done to hurt people.

Despite this, Meeru STILL called it purely cancel culture and dismissed the evidence I gave her!

Stop backtracking!

This post is backtracking central. Oh. So NOW you agree that Panda's behavior was harmful even though I literally told you what she did and gave you evidence in my response to you?

"Why are things being handled in public" bestie I don't think I need to keep explaining to you that multiple people have tried to talk to Panda about her dangerous behavior privately but she didn't listen. She shows 0 desire to change and IMMEDIATELY went to make other friends to lie to about the whole ordeal after she left. This post is a WARNING to people to avoid her.

When I said you were orientalist , I said it was because you were given literal evidence of Panda being racist to Northern Asians , yet you decided to carry on with the narrative that this is cancel culture and that we're overreacting. I didn't say jackshit about Putin girly. If you treat racism against Northern Asians like it's just a newspaper article for you to reblog rather than an actual material reality, and dismiss racism against a Northern Asian just because your friend did it, your so called interest in their cultures means nothing!

Meeru is now blaming ME for why she couldn't read the whole document because she was too busy "defending herself" against my "insults"😂 You lie almost as often Panda does. Again, no one forced you to post that post before finishing the whole document! Don't speak on shit you don't know about !
