ig its just a thing they were experimenting with as a way to explore the concept further? i mean especially within such an electronic and futuristic sounding album it stands out as being very sincere and kind of organic. like poetry/spoken word is one of those things that can come completely from the human mind without any tools - electronic or otherwise and in a similar vein i think just listening to someone talk is the sort of pure human connection that can be distorted through filters or technology or social media or whatever. kind of the complete antithesis of the whole future inc you can be whoever you want to be all your dreams come true shit. but yeah idk i still skip it lol

How would you rank the GMTF songs? (and justice for oblivion! lol)

🫡 (this album is split quite clearly into good ok and bad for me, so here we are)

good tier

1. thelma + louise (i genuinely went insane over this song when it came out it was my top played song ever after like three days and top of my spotify wrapped for 2021 AND 2022 lmao)

2. stay awake? (was kind of meh about this when it first came out but after seeing it as the opener for the gmtf tour brooooo)

3. back to the future (one time i got super drunk on a first date and made the guy listen to this song in the middle of spoons)

4. club 57 (love a cheeky whistle in the middle of a song what can i say. ranks low in the good tier cause now im cursed to think of dan bastille every time i see keith haring merch and there is a lot of that around let me tell you)

5. total dissociation - interlude (what can i say i love this funky little guy lol)

6. no bad days (the tune of the verse kind of annoys me but makes it into the good tier based on the mtv unplugged version alone like mr charlie barnes kind of slayed with that one ngl)

fine tier

7. future holds (it took me SO long to understand the grammar in this song lol. would also be better if it had kept its original title etc)

8. shut off the lights (if i didnt have nostalgic feelings based on this being the bbx encore song i would feel nothing for her)

9. give me the future (it is just very ok imo, but i do think the line about midas is hot so it gets some points for being horny)

10. distorted light beam (idk i just like my songs to have more words than this)

11. brave new world - interlude (it is a short piece of music and it is fine)

bad tier

12. plug in... (literally just go listen to doom days i stg)

13. promises (bad. was kind of fun that they brought riz ahmeds nephew out on stage at the london show tho)

wow I’m glad it’s not just me being a hater then lol! didn’t mean to start drama I was just ranting lol but yeah, they post the same picture literally every month, always out of nowhere too. It’s on twitter so you probably don’t know the person unless they are also on tumblr (I haven’t checked). And I also wanted to say I do think it’s cool when people meet them and share it (some fans have some really cool stories) but I just think posting about it constantly gets annoying 🙈

I think I know who the anon was ‘hating on’ and I’m with them if is the same user. That person met Dan A YEAR AGO and haven’t shut up about it for a single day since and is annoying AF. Unfollowed them since time ago because has a very awful hyper fixation with silly fan things that happen to them but now with the Dan meting still appears all the time in my principal page, drives me crazy!!
