2024 media thread part JANUARY :D

1st January: Super Mario Bros. Movie

finally got around to watching this, and okay, yeah- it was a lot better than i expected. a good time! really fun to watch! it definitely felt like actual fans worked on it, or at the very least, that Nintendo kept a real close eye during production. loooved the little nods to canon; when Pauline showed up, i literally paused to excitedly tell my mom about who that was, haha. also LOVED the difference uses of power ups!! tanuki suit AND cat suit my beloved :]

Bowser was definitely the high point, like!! that IS my little guy!! Jack Black did SUCH a good job, and man. the ANIMATION. the bits where he got all snarly was SO good. would have loved to watch those on the big screen. Luigi was also very Luigi, which i always appreciate. Mario was... eh? not bad! Chris Pine did an okay job, and while i would have preferred something more, it was... fine. and Donkey Kong was a whole lot of fun, actually? tempted to check out his games, because i did really like him

meanwhile, my BIG BIG complaint, is Peach. like, holy fuck. they absolutely butchered my girl! like, yes- as characters, none of them have a lot of personality to work with, but they're archetypes. you're supposed to push within the archetypes- they even did this with Mario. but they just- they completely abandoned who Peach is, as a character. straight up just wrote Daisy instead, which is. really frustrating! and i dislike it A LOT, because there is so much you can do with Peach as a character, and they didn't even try

but otherwise- fun movie! could have been so much worse!

4th January: Outpath

really relaxing and chill game, where you basically just run around collecting resources, upgrading stuff, and unlocking more island. definitely one of those 'put on some music and zone out for a bit' games. that is not a negative

really liked the graphics, and it was fun to just- run around? you get more movement upgrades as you go along, and it actually plays really nicely. also some tasty environmental sounds

i'm not a 100% done with it yet, but i hit the end credits, so. not sure i'll get all the achievements, but i do intent to go back and clean up some loose ends. also really like how it incorporates some idle elements, like you still getting credits(/money) while being offline. makes it more rewarding to open it up and vibe for a bit

i do think there was an.. attempt? at some kind of story, but i entirely missed it, so i guess that's my only real critic. it was just a fun chill game to sink like, 25 hours into lol

9th January: Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight

i've had this game in my library for literally who knows how long, and it's one i've always been aware of, since it was really big back in the day, and oh my god. oh my god, why did i not play this sooner?

it's rather short, took me around 7 hours, but it just- it nails what it wants to be, this tough little game with so much moodiness and tragedy, and i'm so enamoured. i tried playing the original one before this, but it wasn't quite hitting, but man. this one just. it hit so fucking good

there's so many layers here, so many unspoken little details. so so much tragedy you could really dig your fingers into, and as a Tragedy Enjoyer, ooooh it hits good

i'm considering either replaying it myself, or watching a LP and then writing some fic, because there is a little thing hiding here, something i want to put words to. it's good, can't wait to check out the rest, and the upcoming sequel/finale. also, the game is gorgeous

18th January: Switch OVA

so Switch is a two episode long 'adaptation' of a manga, and while it very much just drops you into the middle of the plot, it- works? like, i personally wasn't missing anything, and the case they chose to adapt works really well as a teaser for the manga, because i did leave it considering checking out the manga, and while the whole thing isn't anything to write home about, i did enjoy myself

(i also watched the whole thing on my phone, curled up in bed, so that did maybe increase my enjoyment. it was cozy! what can i say!)

funnily enough, i did walk into this thinking it was a yaoi, and while i don't think it is, there really was nothing to disprove me of this assumption. there's literally a moment where protag guy gets told 'he likes' the other protag guy, and he bLUSHES. LIKE. STRAIGHT OUT OF A YAOI FR FR

all in all, it was honestly just a really cozy time. it wasn't long enough to lose my interest, and there was enough in it to keep it- and i really like the design of the red haired guy! very simple, but really appealing too. i genuinely might check out the manga, my interest is definitely piqued

“It is an honour to meet you.” A generic line, a polite gesture. It had meant nothing at all, and in any other company it would have been met with a response of “likewise!”. Not with a certain min-haired coloured young man that served as the Queen of the troops.

“Of course it is an honour to meet me. Now say it like you mean it.”

Least to say, the first impression wasn’t too good.

💜 (purple heart): First Meeting

“A Clemence?” you repeated, watching the man beam in pride as he puffed up his chest.

“Yes, Clemence. Did you not hear my introduction?” Jonah had told you in that brisk haughty manner of his and you realised that he was proud of it for another reason than you had recognised it from. It didn’t matter as you dismissed that pride, having defaulted that to his main trait before you let your question roll.

“Are you related to Luka?” And that had been the trigger to a lot of gushing. You nearly heard the ‘Oh my god’ in that typical valley girl accent before you looked past the very image and the first impression you had of Jonah, seeing a loving brother who missed his brother terribly.

💙 (blue heart): Understanding

“He is just going through a rebellious phase.” That was what Jonah always said about his brother’s decision to be with the Black Army. In part the phrase grinded you, for you knew better than to call it a rebellious phase. To call it a rebellious phase was dismissive, but somewhere you felt that Jonah wasn’t dismissing his brother. Not entirely.

If you had seen through him right you knew that Jonah wasn’t one who expressed himself directly. Even if his affections were flamboyant and he himself was extravagant and honest to a fault, he had strange reservations about expressing himself in the ways that perhaps mattered the most to others.

“I focussed myself entirely on serving the King; to the point that I pushed my brother away,” he one day confessed and there you saw it, that light of understanding that didn’t want to word itself. The guilt he didn’t want to admit to, but carried heavily anyway.

What a silly man he was.

💚 (green heart): Friendship

“We are friends, right?” you confronted him one day. It earned Jonah a wide-eyed look and an uncharacteristic stutter as he glared down at you.

“Why are you asking that? Isn’t it obvious? Why else would I be wasting my time with you?”

You translated that as a simple ‘yes’ even if that wasn’t what he said, beaming a smile back at him in delight.

“Such an honour, oh Queen of mine!” you jested back, not missing that little dust of blush on his face.

💛 (yellow heart): Crushing

There was something within Jonah that he couldn’t express out loud. When he thought of his family, when he thought of his duty and his role as the Queen of the Red Army. It made his throat swell up as he looked at you, the words dying out as his heart ached.

Jonah knew what it meant. He couldn’t delude himself otherwise, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t try to delude himself, right?

“Honour, what honour,” he had huffed at himself, but pride was his biggest obstacle after all.

“You don’t understand, mille-feuille is supposed to exist out of many layers. Not just this…”

To this you rolled your eyes, pushing the plate towards him as you dropped the fork.

“Then have your mille-feuille, alone. Sounds like the perfect date,” came your somewhat grumpy response and Jonah realised that he had perhaps harped at you for a bit too long about the pastry he loved so much.

Reaching out for you he pulled you back down, eyes wide in panic as he blurted out what was perhaps the most honest thing he has ever said:

Perhaps making a mille-feuille was a little selfish, but Jonah could honestly not think of anything else to surprise you with. After all, what was a more perfect pastry than the mille-feuille? Especially one made and passed by his honourable hands.

And it was special between the two of you. Or so he at least liked to believe, making him even more fond of the pastry than he had been before. The layers sticking together with cream, the fresh fruits. It all symbolised what you guys shared so well.

“What are you doing, Jonah?” you asked and the Queen of Hearts was quick to cover up his surprise, the cream barely off his face when he spun around to you.

“Nothing dishonourable. Don’t sneak up on me like that, it is unbecoming!” he scolded you, earning another roll of your eyes as you tiptoed around the man, quick to whisk away the cover and revealing the surprise.

“Ooooh, mille-feuille!” you exclaimed, and Jonah could only give in now, his surprise collapsing as he pulled you into a hug.

“For your birthday, and only the best of the best! With the greatest honour being that it was made by me!”

You didn’t have the heart to tell him that Luka had tipped you off earlier when he mentioned Jonah had been asking for his mille-feuille recipe earlier. Neither that whatever was in the dish didn’t look much like the beloved pastry that brought you two together. It was your present to him, you supposed.

A low, menacing laugh filled the Chamber, echoing off the stone walls. Fujin’s glowing blue eyes were sternly on Shinnok’s bound form. Fujin’s arms glowed with his tattoos in the dark chamber.

“You think I will help you?” Shinnok laughed despite his agony.

“I do,” Fujin answered, keeping his distance. “You’re weak, Shinnok.”

Shinnok scoffed, his head lolling to the side. His white eyes scanned the chamber and the history that decorated it. He scowled. “Who is your interior decorator?”

“What did you do to Helena?” Fujin asked, staying focused. He knew how Shinnok worked. Manipulation. As long as Fujin stayed focused, everything would be fine.

Shinnok’s brow hitched. Slowly, he raised his head to look back at the lesser god. A smirk played on his decaying lips. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Fujin let out a frustrated sigh. “What did you do, Shinnok?”

Shinnok feigned surprise. His brows rose. “Me? Nothing! How could I when you and Raiden have kept me locked up for—” He paused, pondering. “How long has it been?” He asked curiously.

“Not long enough,” Fujin quipped.

Shinnok made a noise of annoyance and defeat. “What makes you think I had anything to do with Helena?”

“No one else would love to see the chaos that releasing her could cause.”

Shinnok smirked. “She certainly is a perfect little toy.” Fujin felt his chest tighten. Was that a confession? Was Shinnok behind all of this? “Ah, you are worried for her?” Shinnok teased, then laughed. “She is nothing.”

“She is not nothing,” Fujin protested, eyes narrowing.

“She is a mere mortal!” Shinnok argued. “An interesting one, but still only a small pawn.”

“A pawn?”

Shinnok chuckled. “Tell me, Fujin. How has Raiden been?”

“Let Helena go.”

“Oh! But you didn’t say ‘please’!”

Fujin’s brows knotted in impatience.

Shinnok chuckled again. “Why would I ever let her go?”

“Once I tell Raiden about your involvement, I believe you might wish for a true death.”

“Oh?” He grinned. “My dear, Fujin, you can not kill what is already dead.”

“You aren’t dead.”

“I AM DEATH!” Shinnok declared with a booming voice. Fujin’s demeanor faltered for a moment in bewilderment. “Despite being locked away in my amulet, I still have ways of causing destruction to your precious little Earthrealm. I could have taken Helena from Raiden far before she rotted away in those catacombs. But once she was locked away and forgotten, she was so weak. It was too easy.” Shinnok’s words were dripping with venom. “She had been so thankful that I came to release her,” he told Fujin. Shinnok smirked. “I had given her a choice. She could simply die and go to Netherrealm, or…”

“Or what?” Fujin stepped closer, he could feel his blood boil.

Shinnok’s menacing laugh filled the chamber again.

“Or what?!” Fujin demanded.

“Where do you think she learned to enthrall?”

Fujin’s brows deepened in their knot. What did he mean— The mouse! Raiden said he had spotted a mouse with blood red eyes while they had been sparring. It was the last thing Raiden remembered before Helena had captured his mind. She had controlled his dream. Fujin felt his heart drop. “No…”

Shinnok lolled his head again and laughed wickedly.

Helena sat with Shang on a stone bench, overlooking the beach as the waves crashed against the menacing rocks of the shore. Helena was lost in thoughts and memories of her former life. She had been so happy then, so full of hope for the future… until she asked Raiden for something that she had been wanting for such a long time with him.

A child.

Oh, she wanted that more than anything. Just one would have been enough. Just one… But he had denied her request. It was out of the question. A child of his could cause an upset in the balance of the realms…

The realms. Of course he'd bring the realms into it. Was that all he cared about? His words had cut through Helena like a jagged blade. She had been utterly heartbroken. He'd tried to soothe her. Of course he did. But Helena hadn't wanted to hear his logic. She didn't want to hear what the Elder Gods had wanted. Raiden's efforts to calm her down were an utter failure.

She had prayed to the Elder Gods for their blessing. All she wanted was one child. They did not need to be given godly abilities. She just wanted that symbol of their love…

One of the Elder Gods had heard her prayers, but it wasn’t the one she had expected.

As the tournament grew close, Raiden had spent more of his time away from her. He'd focused on Kung Lao. Helena's fingers curled against the bench as she remembered his face. They had been friends. They had been teammates. He was a wonderful man. But her beloved gave him more attention. First, no child. Then, increasing neglect. Had Raiden grown tired of her? Had he feared she would press him too much? It couldn't have possibly just been to get Kung Lao ready for the tournament. Something else was part of the equation. She refused to believe it was that simple. There had to be something else. But one thing was for sure… Kung Lao had to go. No one was going to get between her and Raiden.

"You're going to break something if you keep that up, my dear," Shang's voice said, pulling her back to reality. She turned her head to give him a bewildered look. He'd pointed down to her hand. Her fingertips were white as she gripped the bench, and she had become aware of the sting surging through her fingers.

Helena took a deep breath as she forced herself to relax and lifted her hand to see tiny spots of red which coated her finger tips. Shang's brow rose as he noticed the small blood stains. Reaching over, he gently took her hand in his. A smile came to his face when he noticed she hadn't protested in the slightest. Lifting his other hand, it glowed a brilliant green before he placed it over hers.

Helena didn't let the obvious attempt of intimacy escape her notice. However, she didn't fight it either. It felt wonderful to be touched again, even with something so small and innocent. Any touch would feel as wonderful.

She didn't have to force herself to relax then. It came naturally.

Her hand buzzed as Shang held it between his two and gently applied a little magic. The stinging in her fingers had faded away. As soon as it had started, it had ended and Shang removed his top hand. Her fingertips had healed completely. He'd turned her hand over carefully and gently brought the back of her hand to his lips.

A pang of need--of longing twisted in her chest. She shifted a bit uncomfortably before he pulled her hand from his lips.

"What troubles you?" He asked, almost purred.

Helena's jaw clenched. How could she feel such things for Shang Tsung… How could she be so starved of affection that she would even consider him. The bond… Surely it had not been severed.

Shang's brows rose curiously with her silence and she took in a sharp breath. "Something is not right," she answered, cautious of her own words.

"Oh?" Shang gripped her hand, but not too tight. "What is it?"

"I do not know," she answered. "I… I miss my beloved."

Shang nodded and let his eyes drift away.

"But I find myself curious to your touch," she added. Shang had looked back to her.

“Allow me to satisfy your curiosity,” he said. He placed his other hand on top of hers again. No magic involved. This time he just held her hand with such care, such adoration, that she felt that little pang in her chest again.

But this was wrong…

She closed her eyes. She turned her head away as she pulled her hand from his.

Shang sighed. Ordinarily, he would simply take what he desired. But he had no intention of forcing, or manipulating Helena.

A flash of lightning caught both of their attention before its roar echoed through the island. Looking into the sky, they could both spot the thunder god hovering above. Helena rose to her feet as a loving smile graced her face--a stark contrast to the frown that was there only seconds ago.

As Raiden lowered himself to the shore, he stood on the edge of the dock and looked with annoyance to the barrier blocking his way. Helena had walked herself down to the dock and to the barrier's wall. She stood only a foot away from him, but it may as well have been an entire realm. He could not touch her.

Helena looked up into her beloved's glowing eyes and instantly recognized the guilt that lurked behind them. She frowned.

"Helena…" Raiden called softly to her. Even his voice held his guilt. Her heart twisted at the sound of it.

"Beloved," She answered as her eyes traced the lines in his face.

"I wish to speak with you," he told her.

Her frown tweaked ever so slightly towards a smile. "Of course, my love."

"Alone."

Her jaw clenched. She watched Raiden's glowing orbs shift in the direction of Shang Tsung, then back to her. A pleading look came to his face.

Helena would not fall for that. If she stepped out from the barrier, he would whisk her away. He may even imprison her again. Of course he would. That is what he had wanted of her. She didn’t move from her spot as she watched his frown deepen. She shook her head.

“Helena,” he pleaded.

“No,” she told him. “I will not be imprisoned again.”

Raiden’s jaw hardened. He supposed she had reason to believe he would lock her away again. He would. He had to. And he had broken her trust. He would have to regain it. To regain it, he would have to make himself vulnerable. Even if Shang Tsung was present…

He bowed his head to her. “I understand,” he said, keeping his voice low and just for her. “I have hurt you. I have damaged our relationship.” He had to stop himself from telling her, once again, that it was the Elder Gods who had called for her imprisonment. He’d been told that would not help him. He’d been told, that saying he had no choice, would not make any of this any better. He dragged in a deep breath as he searched for the words he needed to say… He was not good at this.

“I should have fought for you,” he’d decided on. Which seemed to have been the right words, because Helena’s face softened. It gave him the much needed encouragement to continue. “You are more important to me than anything else. I agreed to that when I gave you my vows. I did not intend for them to conflict with my duties as a protector of Earthrealm. I… I made a mistake,” he admitted.

Helena’s brows knotted with his confession. What did he mean by ‘mistake?’ She felt her heart sink at the idea of herself being the mistake.

Raiden could sense her sudden fear. He moved to take a step towards her, but was stopped by the barrier. He heaved a helpless sigh. “You are not the mistake,” he clarified. “I should have known that my promise to you would conflict with my duties… I… I should have resigned from them.”

Helena then took a step forward. “You would never resign,” she told him. She knew her beloved well.

His jaw hardened. “No, I would not,” he agreed. “I should have fought for you,” he’d repeated. That’s what made the most sense to him. Instead of letting the Elder Gods condemn her, he should have defended her… Take the fall with her.

That was all she wanted to hear. She’d been waiting four hundred years for him to admit his failure… but forgiveness would not come so easily for her beloved. Four hundred years… “Thank you,” she told him and took a deep breath.

“Do you forgive me?” He asked.

“No,” she answered and watched pain spread through his features. “You remain my beloved. But I can not forgive you.”

“Helena…”

“You will feel my wraith,” she said, closing the distance between herself and the barrier, as close as she could get to him without jeopardizing herself. “You will feel my pain.”

I’m trying to spread out my requests—I have a whole bunch of Kuroo ones that I swear he is my most requested person. So let’s take a break from our beloved rooster and get some daddies up in this! That being said, this will kinda be a part 2 to Karasuno as dads, with the addition of our beloved Mad Dog. @dreamyjaems you know what’s up.

Kageyama;

Alright, let’s redeem Kags cause I did him dirty last time.

It took him sometime to get used to being a parent, but when he finally got it down, he loved every second of it.

Your daughter, now five years old, loves daddy just as much as he loves her.

Now that you’d gone back to work and the two of you had some semblance of a schedule, Kageyama was 100% in charge of childcare while you worked in the morning.

Lucky break for the two of you that Kags didn’t start practice until the afternoon, giving him time to take your little girl to kindergarten with you picking her up.

It was the same routine every morning—mommy goes to work and daddy makes pancakes while putting on Disney movies.

Always a short stack and he made sure to cut it up just the way his little girl liked it—into 16 pieces. Yes, 16. No more, no less.

Your daughter was a lucky little bugger, getting her fathers thick, silky hair. By this age, it’s incredibly long and Kags always brushes it and does it nicely before taking her to school, then off to work he goes.

His locksreen is definitely a picture of him and his daughter. It gets him through the day.

After picking up your child from school, you help her with homework since Kags won’t be home until later.

Sometimes, it really shocks you just how lucky the two of you got for having such a well behaved kid—super low maintenance, doesn’t really cause trouble. That is, until she starts missing her dad.

Usually, it’s around dinner time that she gets fussy because Kageyama will be waking through the door any minute and that minute canNOT pass soon enough. She’s more like you than you think.

“Hi sweetie,” you call out while you know for a fact he’s scooping up his little bean in his arms before coming to give you a kiss. Routine was nice that way.

The three of you go about your evening as per usual—having dinner together, you giving your little one a bath and Kageyama reading her to bed so that the two of you can cuddle up on the couch before turning in for the evening.

After he finishes reading, he joins you for your quiet time, seeing that you’re watching a movie and drinking a glass of wine. “I wanted to talk to you about...something.” He says stiffly. You quirk a brow at him after hitting pause, patiently waiting for him to continue. “How...how would you feel about having another one?”

“Another glass of wine? Hell yeah.”

“[name], no. Another kid.” Oh. Well, this is a shocking turn of events. Kageyama, the barely legal adult that initially had no idea whether or not was ready to be a father, wanted another child.

“Are you sure, Tobio?” Was all you responded with.

“Obviously, since I’m asking you,” there’s a twinge in his voice that you aren’t sure you’ve heard before. Not quite begging, per se. perhaps imploring was a better word for it? “I love our family and I just want it to keep growing.”

This was such a far cry from the man that Kageyama Tobio was six years ago when you first found out you were pregnant, and you would be lying if you said that his admission didn’t turn you on in the slightest.

“Well we’ve got some work to do then, buddy.”

Hinata;

Hinata Shoyo finally got his wish. With his son, now 10, and daughter, now 8, your youngest daughter was nearing her terrible twos.

There was nothing more in the world that your newest baby loved more than daddy.

It was actually kind of irritating, actually, because if Shoyo wasn’t home, she would cry and throw temper tantrums until your husband walked through the door.

Shit, it even irritated your other two kids who, in order to avoid it all, would usually be at their friend’s houses doing homework and hanging out until they knew their dad would be home.

If only you were able to do the same.

The second that Sho walked through the door, every sound in the Hinata household ceases, as if your toddler wasn’t just screaming her lungs out moments ago.

“Hi, princess! Did you miss daddy today? I know I missed you a whole bunch!”

On god, he is such a good dad it hurts. He’s gotten even better since the addition of the youngest.

“Hi sweetheart,” you greet with a quick peck onto his lips. His daughter, and yes very specifically the almost two-year-old is his daughter, grunts in discomfort despite being held by dad. She doesn’t like the fact that you took dad’s attention away for a second. “Oh, quiet you.” You grumble at her.

“[name]! Be nice to angel!” You roll your eyes at him instead. As if you haven’t raised your last two kids, who were now walking in the door. “Come on, pumpkin, let’s go get some food in our bellies!”

Hinata places her in her high chair, obnoxiously making little airplane noises as he feeds her. Spoiled little brat.

“Mom,” your son starts cautiously, looking back and forth between his father and baby sister. “Was dad always like this?” He asks, referring to the overly enthusiastic train noises your husband was making.

“No, honey.”

“Okay, just making sure he hasn’t been a dork our entire lives.”

“Oh, that? Yeah.”

Tsukishima;

It needs to be reiterated, you felt, that Tsukki is an amazing father.

Your oldest and Kei’s step-daughter, now 12, and your youngest daughter, now 7, would vehemently agree.

They never did actually grow out of the habit of calling him Tsukki, as opposed to dad. Though when speaking to other people, they both referred to him as their father.

It was quite endearing, actually. Your family was happy with the way things were, even if they were slightly unconventional.

Sunday mornings were family days—an adamant rule in the Tsukishima household. Kei would be in charge of making breakfast while you and the girls blasted some upbeat music while tidying up your rooms.

While Kei does not find Kesha and Lizzo to be “the classics” as you so put it while you cleaned, he did find it amusing to see all three Tsukishima women dancing and singing while cleaning.

Lowkey, it warmed his heart to know these were the three women of his life.

Kei is still the same protective dad he was even before having his own child—it only got worse when your oldest started showing an interest in the opposite gender.

Ya know how he wasn’t afraid to fight a toddler for his little girl? He’s definitely not afraid to fight some middle school punk.

Especially when your oldest comes home bawling her eyes out because she had decided to confess to the boy she liked and he had said he didn’t return feelings.

No matter how much you tried to console her, nothing you said seemed to work. It was dad’s turn.

Tsukki sits her down, his face as serious as ever, before adjusting his glasses to look at his step-daughter clearly. “Don’t tell mom that I said this, but boys ain’t shit.” 💀💀💀

“Ooooh, Tsukki said a bad word.” She joked in between her now calming tears.

“It’s true, though. Now come on, chin up. Princesses can’t have their heads down, their crowns will fall off.”

Yamaguchi;

Despite the years of torture and struggle that was raising your twin hellions, Tadashi was kind of feeling a little empty now that the boys had grown into being more independent.

They were now seven-years-old, in sports, getting good grades—it’s like they were replaced with a different set of twins.

However, this also grants Tadashi the chance to actually step in and be a father, rather than letting those two run him ragged all day.

I see Yamaguchi being a slightly more strict parent, but loving nonetheless. Because the twins have always sort have been troublemakers, he’s strict on making sure the boys are home in time for dinner and that their schoolwork is done.

If they aren’t 💀💀💀

Honestly, your guys’ life though is just all around peaceful and a small part of you is longing for chaos.

So before the two of you head to sleep for the evening, your both just chilling in bed, maybe reading a book. Ya know, like 90s sitcom style.

“Hey Tadashi, can I ask you something?” That was never a good sign in his book, but he looks at you expectantly, waiting for you to proceed. “How would you feel if we had another kid?”

You were one of the few people to calm him down; a given considering your decade together.

Backing down, Kentarou retreats to your side, securing an arm around his waist and placing a chaste kiss in his sons hair. Knowing his mannerisms, you knew that was an apology to his child for losing his cool for a minute.

“Holy shit.” Yahaba repeats, stunned by the display of affection

“Language!” Your boyfriend snarls again through clenched teeth, making you laugh again. The three of you were far from perfect, but you had everything you needed.

What are you going to do after your 3 month break? Having any plans already?

Well.. Those 8 days in Italy were so intense and a lot things happened. For example, MY BEST FRIENDS GOT ENGAGED!!! I am still in shock and can’t believe in it, but I am so happy for them! They are so beautiful together! The funny thing is, me and my friend came to senses few hours after announcement and we decided to throw surprise party for them. You can imagine how hard it was, since we were going everywhere together. And our love-birds were ruining all our evil plans with consequence. Our first idea was taking them to fancy restaurant to celebrate their engagement but nooo, let’s have pizza tonight! Or maybe aperitivo would be better idea! So we struggled for two freaking days and we end up buying them a cake and a champagne. It was miracle that we did it and they didn’t notice anything. I was buying candles with my engaged friend standing one meter away. All of this was on the highest adrenaline level ever.

We had beautiful apartament in Lucignano. The last night was spectacular! We had terrace on the rooftop so we spend time laying on our chairs with blankets and stargazing. There was thunderstorm, far away, on the horizon. We haven’t heard anything, we just saw lightnings. Have you ever seen The Lord of The Rings? It felt like we have seen Mordor from Minas Tirith. Unbelievable! And there were so many shooting stars!

Florence itself was amazing as always! Thanks to pandemy the city was almost empty and it was wonderful. Last time I was in Florence there were so many people we cannot move to be honest. Now we could see everything. If you will ever be in Florence Piazzale Michelangelo is totally must see. We were there before sunset and gods, that was a view!

We cut to the Burial Mounds where there’s a Wen family dinner going on

Wwx is all spacey bc he misses his sibs so much but manages to distract EVERYONE from it by making grand declarations and generally being an over-the-top Drama Bi.

A-Yuan time!

Wen ning saved some of jyl’s soup to give to a-yuan!

He gives a-yuan a taste of the soup and a-yuan’s all “delicious! One more spoon!”

And after wen ning gives him more, he’s like, ONE MORE SPOON!

PRECIOUS, HE’S PRECIOUS AND SO CUTE

Then we get some Sad Times in the Demon-Subdue Palace where wwx has the saddest series of flashbacks ever

the promise he made to JC (twin heroes of yunmeng!!) that he didn’t keep

and then the oath on the lantern (always stand with justice and live without regrets) which he half-keeps

and then his declaration in the rain with lwj (if i should be killed, let it be by you) which he will keep BUT WE’RE NOT GONNA THINK ABOUT THAT

HE’S SO SADDDDDD

THERE’S SADNESS EVERYWHERE

Gross, now we’re in lanling, fastforwarding through that nonsense

Now we’re back at the burial mounds and get more A-YUAN TIME!!

Uh oh, a-yuan just murdered a lotus sprout

He’s all, what’s this?? And yanks the poor thing out of the mudpit it was growing in

Wwx yells at him: WHAT ARE YOU DOING

And a-yuan starts crying and wwx looks like he wants to start bawling too

Wen qing kind of tells him off 

a-yuan’s a little kid and doesn’t know better, she says

Wwx gets this defeated look about him and says it’s fine, i see that it’s not meant to be now

LIKE, HE’S JUST RESIGNED THAT HE CAN NEVER HAVE ANYTHING FROM HOME EVER AGAIN?

HE CAN’T EVEN HAVE ONE STUPID LOTUS PLANT BC OF COURSE HE CAN’T HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT

MY POOR PRECIOUS SUNSHINE BOY

After a little adorable convo with wen qing, a-yuan goes to comfort wwx in his cave

A-yuan: i’m sorry i made a mistake. Wq says if you miss your sister, you should go see her

Wwx: she’s so far away...i won’t go

A-yuan: hmmm, you should become a bird and fly over there!

AND THEN THEY PRETEND TO BE FLYING BIRDS AND IT’S SO CUTE

But wwx is still sad inside :(

Now we get a time skip! 

~ONE YEAR LATER~

Wwx overhears a bunch of gossipy cultivators talking about how the jin clan is doing a one-month celebration of baby Jin Rulan!!

WWX IS OVERWHELMED WITH JOY

HIS EYES ARE ALL TEARY AGAIN

AND HE’S LIKE, DID YOU  HEAR THAT WEN NING? MY SISTER HAD A BABY! I HAVE A NEPHEW!!

Wen Ning is a supportive bro so he’s all congratulations!!!

And then wwx gets all the happiness gets drained out of him when he remembers that he has no official ties to either clan so he’ll probably never get to see his nephew ever

We cut to Lanling, where i guess guests are arriving for the upcoming celebration

We don’t really care about any of these people

EXCEPT THAT ZEWU-JUN AND HANGUANG-JUN’S ARRIVAL IS ANNOUNCED

AND WE’RE GONNA LISTEN TO LWJ TALK ABOUT HIS BELOVED SOULMATE

Unfortunately he’s talking to asshole cousin jz, fuck that guy

Lwj: since all of his seniors are invited to the first-month celebration, wei ying should also be invited as he is the baby’s senior too

Lwj says this all respectfully, gaze steadily forward and not looking directly at anyone

Jz: you want us to invite wwx even tho he’s the enemy of all four clans??

Jz gives them a summary of the conversation

Oh, i forgot to mention jzx has been here the whole time too but he’s basically useless bc he never shuts up his cousin

Jgy is all like, ah, hanguang-jun is being kind but perhaps inviting wwx is not the best idea ever

And jz is all well, I heard that he went to the burial mounds but no one knows why he went there!

Lwj: to visit an old friend

LWJ IS NOT ASHAMED OF VISITING WWX. HE DOESN’T CARE IF THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS HE WENT THERE TO VISIT HIS SOULMATE

Jz: an old friend?! Wwx is a ruthless killer! Everyone wants him dead! Why do you have a friend like him?

I HATE THIS GUY SO MUCH

Lwj: when did he kill ruthlessly? Please tell us exactly.

DAAAMMN, LOOK AT MY BOY GO!

Jzx finally cuts in here and shuts them both up

He approaches his dad and is like, yeah okay so wwx killed some of our guys before and he’s kind of rebellious or whatever but like hanguang-jun said, he hasn’t done anything wrong for a whole year!

Then he goes on to show us that he’s completely whipped for his wife (AS HE SHOULD BE) by saying, also, since wwx has seceded from the jiang clan, jyl hasn’t been able to see him and she still misses him very much!!

Jzx: it’s a good opportunity to bring him back

His asshole cousin is all, are you crazy??

WILL THIS GUY EVER SHUT UP, OH MY GOD.

But thankfully lxc puts in his two cents!

Lxc: jzx makes a good point. If wwx intends to change and return to the right path again, it’s a good thing!

Jgs starts droning on and on about stuff i don’t give a damn about and lwj throws him the dirtiest of looks the whole time lol

But he more or less agrees to let wwx come on the condition that he turns in Plot Device 2

And jgy is like, SWEET, we can write him a letter telling him he’s invited but he must come alone (BC THAT AIN’T SKETCHY AF) and then once he’s here we can tactfully request he give me, i mean, the jin clan Plot Device 2

Lwj was looking concerned basically the minute jgy started talking but here he chimes in

Lwj: what will you do if he refuses?

BC HE KNOWS WWX IS NOT GONNA HAND THAT THING OVER TO THE JIN CLAN BC THEY’RE A BUNCH OF SLIMY SKEEVY BASTARDS

Then jgy does that thing where he replies without actually answering the question

Jgy: hanguang-jun, why are you so pessimistic? Wwx is not evil or vicious! (FUCK YOU JGY, WE ALREADY KNOW HE’S NOT EVIL OR VICIOUS, NO THANKS TO YOU) i’m sure if we talk it out, he’ll be reasonable and make the right choice!

Oh, thankfully, lxc answers the question properly

Lxc: even if wwx disagrees, he can go back to the burial mounds as long as he promises not to kill any innocents

Which, wwx would definitely promise that bc he’s never killed an innocent person IN HIS LIFE

BC UNLIKE THE JIN CLAN BASTARDS HE HAS INTEGRITY AND A FULLY FUNCTIONING CONSCIENCE

Jgy: hanguang-jun, can we bother you with the errand of writing the letter?

LOL

Jgy says that and we immediately see lxc smile at his little brother

Like, heck yeah, bro you have the chance to talk to your soulmate now! (LXC is trying to win back his greatest wingman title lol)

Ofc lwj keeps his face blank, but he bows and says yes

BC HECK YEAH HE GETS TO DELIVER GOOD NEWS TO HIS SOULMATE

And that’s the last of the wangxiantics for this episode. Not a lot of them this time around, and none with shared screen time
