I—okay. Listen. Do I run around a lot in this game? Yes. Do I spend an unnatural amount of time looking for RP locations that perfectly match a scene I'm looking for? Probably. But over the course of years, I've found some pretty cool spots. And I'm going to share them with you!
Maybe you'll find inspiration to start something new in these areas, or maybe it'll help scratch an itch for a scene you've been wanting to do. Who knows! Just take them!
Also, these are locations found outside of major cities and aetherytes. This list is for people who want to get out into the overworld and away from crowds! (I’ve also tried to find places that are free of hostile mobs, NPCs, and FATEs.
I’ll likely make more posts for other zones, but the three starter regions are accessible for characters of all levels, and a good place to start!
Locations under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LONE CAMPSITE - Middle La Noscea - X25, Y23 A single, simple campfire surrounded by a few crates and barrels. I think an NPC appears here for one specific quest, but otherwise it's empty! It’s not near any civilization, although you can see Limsa on the other side of the map.
Tumblr media
HIDDEN PIRATE SHIP - Western La Noscea - X10, Y18 A really cool ship hidden deep in the La Noscean map, which only became available once they added flight to older areas. You can land on the ship and the walkways that surround it. It’s really a unique and outstanding spot!
Tumblr media
HOUSE @ OSCHON'S TORCH - Lower La Noscea - X23, Y39 You can't enter the lighthouse on the hill (unfortunately), but you can go into the small house in front. It has a nice garden in the yard, and the interior is fairly simple and NPC-free.
Tumblr media
WAREHOUSE @ RED ROOSTER STEAD - Lower La Noscea - X31, Y21 I don't know why SE made this, to be honest. I've never seen a quest lead here. Nothing spawns, it just exists. Which is great! I wish they did this more. Anyway, it's a warehouse at Red Rooster Stead. A door in a cliffside, full of supplies and a table with chairs, and nothing else.
Tumblr media
PAVILLION @ CANDLEKEEP QUAY  - Lower La Noscea - X19, Y38 Previously inaccessible due to a gate blocking you off the pier, you can now fly over to this spot! This location is beautiful, especially at sunset, but unfortunately nothing is interactable. Unless you’re fine with /groundsit, you can't even sit on the chairs. But still, a quiet and interesting spot to meet!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HOUSE @ THE SILVER BAZAAR - Western Thanalan - X17, 30 All of the buildings in the Silver Bazaar are great! This one is fantastic. It's completely empty inside and outside (except for a couple ambient NPCs on the railing up top). There’s a table and chairs under the awning outside, too.
Tumblr media
DESERT RUINS - Southern Thanalan - X19, Y17 There are a lot of nice ruins in the Thanalans, but this one in particular has a lot of potential. The only mobs around are some passive fire sprites, and there's an unopened chest in the back amidst all the crates and jars. Environmental storytelling!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TAVERN @ CAMP DRYBONE - Eastern Thanalan - X13, Y24 I know I said I would make this list outside of major aetheryte areas, but this is the one exception I'll make. Only because it has no business being this good. Every chair at every table is available! It's a wonder!! A very nice little tavern.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HOUSE @ THE GOLDEN BAZAAR - Eastern Thanalan - X10, Y16 The Golden Bazaar, like the Silver Bazaar, is all very useful. But there's one house in particular that is better than the others. This interior is big and extravagant and empty: three things we don't get very often in overworld locales!
Tumblr media
CRESCENT COVE - Western Thanalan - X15, Y17 If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: I love Crescent Cove. Every building is accessible! And although there are NPCs around, it's a fairly large area to work with. I’ve both led and participated in a lot of great plot events here. I like it a lot!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LILYSTONE - Central Shroud - X28, Y30 A simple tent with a campfire in front, located next to a river. There are some low level aggressive mobs (level 11), but no NPCs or FATEs. I believe there's an early level quest around here, but I almost never see anyone. A neat campsite!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SWEETBLOOM PIER - East Shroud - X10, Y22 This location is found immediately after you take the boat from Gridania to East Shroud. Most people just run right past it and head through the gates, but if you turn around, there are two buildings here! One is a grocer of some kind, and the other is a storage room. There are a couple NPCs, but nothing too intrusive.
Tumblr media
SPRIGGAN DIG - Central Shroud - X11, Y16 (Underground) Sometimes, when you're setting a scene, all you want is a simple cave. Just one simple darn cave. This spot provides! There are 2-3 caves to choose from, although each one contains at least one hostile mob and a patrolling golem (level 43). We take what we can get.
Tumblr media
SPIRITHOLD - Central Shroud - X26, Y25 This spot is great for its spooky ambience or for a dungeon/prison location. There are six small, empty jail cells against the walls. Just some small level mobs (level 9) wandering around, too.
Tumblr media
That’s it! I have several more, but I trimmed them out due to them being either fairly common knowledge (ie, Buscarron’s Druthers, Hermit’s Hovel) or just too many mobs cluttering the field. However! If you’re interested in more, let me know somehow, and maybe I’ll make a Part 2!
Until then, I’ll very likely follow up with more zones. I like exploring quite a lot.

FINALLY DONE WITH THE ISAT OC! SOLEIL!!!
Tumblr media
The creature... So first things first is some info about them pre- disappearance of The Country. They're a loyal follower and avid worshipper of The Country. They love the Universe sooo much that they made a wish to be able to read the stars, and the Universe answered. I like to think that the stars are talkative, some can predict what will happen in the near future, some are just "chatting" to each other about the stuff happening in the world they overlook. It's a somewhat useful ability that Soleil used to use to be able to either predict someone's future (rarely though, the stars hold many different futures and it's hard to figure out which is whose) or use it during funeral rites to have a more reassuring experience to the ones mourning that their loved one arrived safely among the stars.
And then they found out about The Cursing of Chateau Castle-- they kiiiinda got Really obsessed with the book series that they wanted to know more about it but there wasn't any more copies of it in the Country's language so what better way to deal with that but teaching itself how to understand the Vaugardian language, and by doing that they got to learn more about the Vaugardian culture and was really amazed by it (considering that they spent most of their life with the Country's culture instead, learning about a different culture is a great feeling). One thing led to the other and it also led Soleil to travelling to Vaugarde (something that their family wasn't all that happy with but they stay silly).
And so we're back at the present time! Now to talk about some details on its appearance.
Its Craft type is Scissors! The eye on the center of its chest and the eye by its nape are in fact EYES and not just accessories (although they did try to make the eye on its chest appear to be like a mix between a star shape and the Change Symbol).
After spending some time in Vaugarde, they learned about Body Craft in which case they decided to experiment with it in regards to its eyes.
Since being in Vaugarde, there wasn't much use to its star sight and there also isn't a way to "turn it off." So instead, they decided to separate its Normal sight from the Star sight by adding another pair of eyes on its body.
The eyes on its face are blind. They can't see through it anymore but they Can still see the stars (they can't read it anymore however cuz of the Country's disappearance).
If they focus on the stars using those eyes, they'd get a REALLY bad headache and a star sign appears on its eyes. Nothing to be afraid of probably, its head just Really hurts.
The glass covering the eye on its nape is a one way mirror. You won't be able to see the eye but the eye can still see you.
With its vision split, it actually took them awhile to get used to that. It takes a lot of concentration and focus to see both from behind and from the front. When Soleil gets tired from doing that, they either close the eye on its nape (if the place is safe enough) or unfocus it enough to the point that most of its vision becomes blurry with only being able to see blobs of shapes and shadows which helps them be alert enough in case something comes running at them from behind.
All the round objects you see on its body are Bombs. They found out about Bomb Craft in Jouvente and was so fascinated by it that their inventor brain (inventing, crafting, and repairing stuff is a special interest of theirs). They now like making bombs and inventing new ones (only they have the recipe of those).
The bombs they invented only detonates via a Craft spell, it's basically as safe as an ordinary ball to handle unless detonated. Also the scissors at the top of their head has a cover on its tip. It's Very Sharp. They mainly use that (either the tip or the scissor blades itself) to cut the bombs dangling on its body.
Despite the multitude of bombs they carry, they aren't actually much of a fighter (they just like bombs). Most of its Craft spells are basic/beginner level. The one and only Powerful Craft spell they have is a shield/defense spell that they practiced several times. It's capable of negating all damage for 2 turns with a 5 turn cooldown, they wanted to master that spell to make it so that bombs won't hurt them no matter the close proximity.
Its hand signs are "broken." They used to mimic the hand signs that the Universe (I'm mainly referring to my design of the Universe) makes. But after forgetting about everything in regards to it, they can't remember what hand signs they used to make but the familiar feeling was still there.
A huge fan of The Cursing of Chateau Castle, to the point of practically making it part of its identity now that a HUGE chunk of its memory is missing. Its outfit is a modified version of what they think Lady Irene-Janine-Karine wears.
Its personality is a mixture of Lord Josephandre, Pierre-Jacques-Erneste, and Lady Irene-Janine-Karine (aka the Chateau Trio!!! Love those three...).
Its name, "Soleil" is just something they found in a book and decided to use for itself. They don't remember its name anymore.
#ariart#ariaoc#isat oc#isat spoilers#theres some danger in the fact that sol took pierres personality too considering that pierre betrayed the party that one time--#honestly if i think about sol harder i begin to realize that theres A LOT of things wrong about them mentally#what forgetting a country with a belief system you were incredibly loyal to does to someone i think.#also making it so that sol was the npc that translated that one issue of the cursing of chateau castle from vaugardian#into the language of the Country. if you were to enter its home. youll be greeted by a LOT of bookcases and shelves and books#and therell be at least 4 of those dedicated to the cursing of chateau castle. original version and the ones they translated#there will ofc be sections where its about the Country tho. actually i think if siffrin visited its home he'll be able to know more#about the Country. if he became close friends enough to be able to enter the rooms with the books of it. sol couldnt read them#anymore but feels as though those books were important so they moved it elsewhere for safekeeping. making sure to maintain it too#also yea you can now see exactly how im pushing the isat worldbuilding to its limits via body craft#i like to think that if in case body craft operates in a similar manner to alchemy in that by Changing something theres an equal#exchange to be given. if its Changing your appearance to a new one then the equal value to be exchanged is the Old appearance#but if for example theres a missing body part. youd have to find Something else of equal value to replace it then#and by going off of that same principle. if a body part has two functions (like with sol's eyes having a special sight to it)#then by Changing its appearance. the equal value follows the same principle of the: exchange Old for New#except that in sol's case. with the addition of a body part that has two functions. technically speaking they can Separate the#two functions while still following the usual method. it's just that now theres another set of eyes on its body. still a New appearance tho

WILL HE PLAY SDV WITH ME?? I LOVE SHANE AND HARVEY BUT THEY DON’T HOLD A CANDLE TO REN
✦゜ANSWERED: SHANE AND HARVEY????? THAT'S SUCH A MASSIVE COMPLIMENT NGL
But yes! Ren is more than willing to play Stardew Valley with you! He'd gladly take on the farming, mining, fishing, or egg hunting if it was something you didn't want to do — but you'd probably have to let him live in your house as compensation ^^;
And considering how he'll be sleeping in your bed from now on, you might as well just marry him, too! ^^ He'd make such a good spouse with how he'd let you decorate the house however you'd like, as well as accepting your trash like a loved gift and giving you as many kisses as you could possibly want every morning.

Tighnari's Letter to Cyno
This is a sample? I should say, of my cynonari, as well as my canonverse writing. I've been writing a lot of AUs lately but I don't know why cynonari strikes me as the most easy to write in canonverse. Maybe it's the lack of immortality and peril, maybe it's because Tighnari's character is very natural (and oddly similar to mine) and therefore easier to write. Maybe it's the way they love each other quietly, from the sidelines. Maybe it's all of the above.
In any case, they are very close to my heart, and I hope to be able to write more about them. If you have any ideas, maybe even about the continuation or reply to this letter, please drop me a line through Asks or send a quick DM.
····················································✦···················································
Dearest Cyno,
I hope this letter finds you well. Collei and I are doing good in the Avidya forest, and we wait for your next visit in anticipation.
There has been an influx of people visiting the forest for my lectures, which I am immensely thrilled about. I write this letter a few days after finishing the last lecture that I had planned, sub-urban ecocystems near Sumeru City, which garnered a lot of responses and questions from everyone. I am very happy to see that the people from the city are willing to learn more about their surroundings so as to not harm the plants and fungi in their habitat.
A couple of scholars from Amurta and Spamtamad in particular stood out, Liliya and Afizh are their names, and they were doing joint research on how experiments conducted by the Akademiya near the sub-urban areas of Port Ormos could affect the wildlife and even crops of local citizens. They have shown clear results and was extremely excited to hear what I thought about their work. We discussed it in great detail, and in the end I had asked them if I could talk about their findings as a theme in another lecture, and Liliya in particular to be my assistant in gathering more sources. They both responded enthusiasticly and I feel as if I have gained an intern of sorts. Everyday is interesting, and watching them work together in their robes reminded me of our time at the Akademiya, as well...
Reminiscing old times aside, In the middle of our discussion we had considered cross-referencing these findings with rules established by the matra, to see if the problem of local contamination can be made of concern to the Akademia rulebook, so as to prevent it from happening again. I had the assumption that we could find what we needed in the matra's various publicly-available guidelines, but came up empty. As we concluded this, I had jokingly mentioned your name to Afizh, as he is in his last years of Spamtamad, he is sure to know that you were an alumnus. I said to him that he should ask you about the unclarity of these rulebooks. Now, Afizh is a bold man, sweet at he is, but he claimed that he would rather let his entire TCG collection be siezed by the matra than ask you a question...
I can only assume he does not know that your own TCG collection is five times his size. It's funny that he thinks bringing TCG cards to his office is an offence worthy of property confiscation, but I digress. I offhandedly mentioned that I'll be the one to ask you about it, and their reaction made me realize something that has me... A little unsure on how to feel.
They were shocked to hear that I am on good terms with you, and even more shocked to hear that we are close enough for me to call you my 'friend'. They proceeded to tell me how unexpected it was, that a forest ranger such as myself would have 'connections' with the high-ranking officials in the Akademiya matra...
I don't have connections to the matra, Cyno. All I am is your life partner. Yet I hesitate to say this to them, and I dismissed their reaction saying it isn't a big deal. After all, a man being in a relationship isn't a big deal. But somehow, I think, with you, it isn't that easy.
I know you tell people you're friends with me when asked. I do the same. Most of our mutual friends know that we are more than that, and we had agreed to tell other people of our relationship if it comes up. Wether we claim to be friends or more, the problem is that it rarely comes up in the first place. We have made our lives separate for the better part of this relationship, but I fear that it is too distanced that strangers cannot fathom it being so intertwined.
I am not one to be motivated by the opinion of strangers. It is not that those comments bother me. I know who I care about and who I love, and whether or not other people know it have little to do with me. But that night I had somehow lost my cool, I think. And I had told them that you and I were in a relationship.
I will not talk of their reaction afterwards. Suffice to say that my ears hurt from the volume they reached and it became a bit of a talk amongst the participants. I am sorry for this mishap, though I am sure you do not mind. Please do not take this as a sign that I am dissatisfied with our current setting, or unhappy with your position and reputation in the matra. I am neither of those things. I know that your life is inseparable with mine, Cyno. No amount or distance or difference in reputation can change that. I suppose I simply wanted to claim the General Mahamatra as mine, as well. At least at the time. I'm not sure it was an entirely good decision, but I don't think I will come to regret it just yet.
Oh, I had almost forgot. I've attached some of the lines of the matra guidebooks and rules that we needed clarification on. You will see our inquiry in detail for each page and topic. In general, we were wondering if we could access some of the matra's documents regarding this matter, especially the ones that are mentioned but not publicly available. That was the main point of this letter, which I had planned to write since we started discussing about the matra's rulings, but evidently got distracted from.
I hope the desert treats you well, and that you will find time to visit soon. As always, I miss you dearly.
ーYours always, Tighnari.
P.S. Collei is forcing me to mention that I had promised Afizh to show him a TCG match between you and I if you can manage to arrive before they leave for the city. and also that he is leaving in about two weeks.

Post-canon au for Joanne and Arc! Set at least a decade after Joanne finally retired as a hero and went missing, only to come back to Falconreach two years later under a new disguise named Ms. Blythe and clad in Cryptic power illusion that made almost everyone unable to properly recognize her unless they've known her for long enough
And in which Arc the Dragon has gained his human adult form and decided to become an adventurer to continue protecting Lore while letting Joanne rest and enjoy her time as an innkeeper in her retirement
Arc is now a big boi
Also a little bit about lady moore, clay, and ms. Blythe

do you ever think about the implications of malanya being a great fairy but also Definitely Not . and other things. and also the fact that their name is so similar to malon🧍something to think about and i always forget until im Reminded
YES I still have so many questions about this guy!! I haven’t played all of the loz games so bear with me if I get stuff wrong but I find it really interesting that he’s the only one referred to as a god outside of the golden goddesses and Hylia. Is there more that we haven’t met? Or did they just decide the most important things to have gods for are ultimate power and horses. Cause I’d agree, I play solely for the horsies 🐎

Propaganda time? Propaganda time.
Fun fact: Marigold occupies the specific niche of villain as many comic book supervillains - the more dark the setting, the more she can get away with, and the deadlier of a threat she becomes.
Bug Fables, being a fairly light-hearted RPG, sticks her in "secret boss with horrific implications" territory, where she's not necessarily too dark to disrupt the E for Everyone rating but thinking on the facts presented for more than a few minutes makes everything rapidly enter something adjacent to the horrible implications of Snakemouth Den.
In settings closer to grimdark, however, she could probably become an extremely significant villain fairly easily even while remaining on the backlines, putting multiple main characters into permanent benching, major identity crises, and forced-to-kill-a-friend situations even without having to directly show her face.
In case of a genre upset, she is very much the kind of character where literally all of her plots could be foiled with a well-placed Bugs Bunny reducing her to a comedy bit.

Edmont singing Leaves From The Vine for Haurchefant.
Little soldier boy Come marching home Brave soldier boy Comes marching home
Here's a full version of the song bc I hate myself
youtube
Like... it fits doesn't it? Do you think Edmont regretted caring more for his country and prestige in that moment? Bro is not winning any father of the year awards but he loves his boys and he fucked up bigtime. Edmont is a terrible father but to me he loves them. I think subconsciously in the back of his mind he also tried to put the Fortemps name before any of them. But when Haurchefant died I like to think he was like "Oh shit. I don't care about the Fortemps legacy anymore I just want my sons to be safe."
ALSO DO YOU THINK ARTOIREL AND EDMONT REGRET NOT DEFENDING HAURCHEFANT WHILE HE WAS GROWING UP BEING COLLECTIVELY BULLIED BY ISHGARD'S NOBILITY!? I am so fucking normal abt Haurchefant and the Fortemps you have no idea
And to think it still says Greystone on his grave :(
