it's really telling about the state of transphobia in the uk that today, when MP's were meant to be debating the 140k signatures petition to grant nonbinary people the right to legally identify their gender, they instead kept talking about trans women in prisons, poor little autistic kids getting lead astray, medical transition being permanent and other tired arguments that have nothing to do with being nonbinary.

allowing a nonbinary gender option to be legally recognised would not affect trans women or cis women's rights.

it would not affect medical transition.

it would! affect transgender children, who would hopefully feel more supported in a country that seems determined to squash us right out of existence.

transphobia is everywhere. especially at the top, where these rich folks think that we're all predators and groomers because they are projecting their own awful thoughts onto us. terrible people think that everyone else is terrible because when they are offered the choice to be good, they choose not to be.

new zealand has accepted transgender asylum seekers from the UK. if that doesn't tell you how bad it is, i'm not sure what will.

anyways i love you people that are both gay and straight, in whatever way that presents. being nonbinary often can mean a complicated relationship to sexuality and how one perceives it within the societal restrictions of homo and heterosexual, and i think bridging those definitions and having "contradictory" labels like lesboy or whatever is really cool. i support and stan he/him lesbians or butch lesbians or she/her gay men or femme gays or she/he pronoun users and whatever else, be it cis or trans or both. if you feel like youre both cis and trans that also rocks. dont let people force you back into a binary within the queer community, stay strong!

i haven't seen much about this on here, so for people who don't know, nex benedict was a nonbinary and native 16 year old who was severely beaten in a fight with (currently unidentified) bullies and died the next day (feb 8 2024). police are now claiming that the injuries, including serious head trauma, were not the cause of death, and that the cause is still unknown pending the results of other tests.

while this go/f*n/dme has far surpassed its initial goal, the family definitely needs all the financial help they can get. they have now put out a statement that they will be conducting a private investigation into the incident. every penny counts for this family as they pursue justice for their child, and they have promised that any excess funds will be put towards supporting other lgbt children.
