like real people do (alistair x reader) 💜💜
Summary: honestly there's no real plot, just pure fluff. Alistair tries to adjust to having a human mate, and he's trying really hard 🥹
Warnings/Tags: gn!reader, mention of skipping a meal (not intentionally), mentions of eating, Alistair being awkward and a bit rude lol, basically just pure tooth-rotting fluff, but as always, let me know if I've missed anything!
Words: 1,634
Author’s Note: me, writing a twilight fanfic in the year of our lord 2024? it's more likely than you think. uhhh yeah I have no real explanation for this except that I have stumbled back into my Alistair obsession and I just wanted to write a cute little something for him. I don't think this is my best work, but at least it made me smile, so that's something. honestly I have no idea if there's anyone else out here reading fanfic for an incredibly minor twilight character, but if there is, I hope you enjoy whatever this is! I was thinking of making this a little series of Alistair trying his damndest to figure out human stuff, so do let me know if you have any interest in that. but okay I'll stop rambling now - enjoy! 💖
A message pinged through on your computer, and you looked away from your work for a moment, pulling up the chatbox. It was Lucy from the front desk:
hey – someone’s here to see you
who?
hard to describe – and i’m having a hard time getting his name
You chuckled softly to yourself, having a sneaking suspicion you knew exactly who it was. Odd that he would willingly put himself in a situation that forced him to speak with other people though. Your laughter turned into a small frown as you considered the fact that something might be wrong. You and Alistair hadn’t been together long, but you knew about his aversion to others well enough to wonder what could bring him into proximity of the possibility of needing to engage in small talk.
be right there
You pushed back from your desk and hurried down to the lobby. Lucy was obviously waiting for you to arrive, and she met you with a mildly panicked look, gesturing with her head toward the tall man standing awkwardly in the corner of the lobby. Thanks to his heightened senses, he had noticed your arrival long before Lucy, and was already striding across the floor toward you at a pace that was just barely slow enough to be considered human. You made a mental note to ask Carlisle to gently review normal human behaviors with him. You just managed to give Lucy a quick thumbs-up to indicate that you knew the tousled man before he bustled the two of you back toward your office.
“Alistair, what the hell?” you asked as he ushered you inside and closed the door behind him.
“What a truly awful system,” he muttered to himself, clearly continuing a rant he was already halfway through rather than answering your question. “I mean really, how many idiots should I have to go through to see my partner?” You just crossed your arms and leaned back against the edge of your desk, a bemused smile starting to fight its way onto your face. You knew it was no use interrupting him until he had gotten everything out. “’Would you like something do drink?’” He parroted Lucy’s question mockingly. “No I bloody well would not – unless you’ve got a few bags of blood stored away back there,” he retorted to this fictional Lucy sarcastically. “Zounds, how hard is it to just point me in the right direction and leave me in peace?” His words faded into muttering and soft curses in a version of English that hadn’t been spoken for hundreds of years.
“Alistair,” you said quietly, breaking him out of his monologue. His talking to himself had seemed strange at first, but the more you learned about his life before meeting you, the more it made sense. He had been his only company for so long and was only now slowly adjusting to speaking with other people again. You, however, found it incredibly endearing and hoped he didn’t break himself of the habit completely.
His focus snapped to you instantly when he heard your voice, and he started murmuring apologies that you quickly brushed off.
“Alistair, it’s fine,” you assured him, sending him a warm smile and softly placing your hand on his forearm. Touch was another thing that was coming back to him only slowly. You had learned to proceed cautiously, gently, making sure he knew that you were about to touch him before making contact. The words stilled on his lips as his eyes focused in on the place where your warm palm met his cold skin.
“Alistair,” you said quietly after a moment of letting him adjust to the contact. His eyes traveled back up to your face at the sound of his name on your lips. “Is something wrong?”
“I—no,” the words tumbled out awkwardly, and you could almost see him trying to say three different sentences at the same time. If he still had blood under his skin, you were certain he would be blushing. Knowing that eye contact made conversation even more difficult for him, you flicked your eyes down toward your hand still on his arm, gently pulling it from where it hung limply at his side. You cradled his large hand in both of yours and began tracing mindless patterns on his skin, hoping this would give him enough of a reprieve to gather his thoughts. He took a deep breath and tried again.
“Nothing is seriously wrong, but I— well I… worried about you.” This instantly caught your attention, and you looked up again almost without thinking, only to find his ruby eyes gazing back down at you with a softness you were just beginning to recognize.
“Alistair, I promise, I’m just fine,” you assure him.
“But… well… I noticed you didn’t eat breakfast this morning.” You tilted your head, wondering why that was such a cause for concern that he would willingly subject himself to the horror of checking in at your work.
“I was just running a little late and didn’t have time to make myself anything,” you explained, hoping that would ease his mind, “there’s always snacks in the break room, so I figured I’d have something when I got here.”
“I understand, but humans in your age group are supposed to eat three balanced meals per day, with the addition of one to three snacks. Lack of nutrients can result in many deficiencies, which in turn can lead to side effects like headache, dizziness, and trouble concentrating.”
You couldn’t stop the smile that was growing on your face as you listened to him recite this knowledge as though he had memorized it straight from a Wikipedia article. However, you seriously doubted Alistair’s ability to navigate the internet, since Carlisle had only recently convinced him to try using a flip phone.
“Where did you hear about this?” you asked, trying to remain serious and stifling the giggles that were rising in your throat.
“I’ve been reading Carlisle’s medical texts,” he responded with a furrowed brow, “I want to make sure I understand all the risks and ensure that I am prepared for every eventuality.”
If you hadn’t been completely in love with him yet, this would have undoubtably sealed the deal. He may be awkward and eccentric and even difficult at times, but he was trying so so hard to care for you in the best way he knew how. Although the whole situation was still incredibly amusing, you simply couldn’t bring yourself to laugh at him, even if it was all in affection. Instead, you raised yourself slowly to your tiptoes and planted a soft kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you for thinking of me,” you said as you lowered yourself back onto your heels. Your chaste kiss seemed to have frozen him for a moment, as he stood there completely still, his soft squeeze of your hand the only indicator that he was still present in the room. You let him recalibrate, and as he came back himself, he made a soft exclamation as though he had just remembered something. Reluctantly releasing your hand, he swung a small backpack off his shoulder.
“I brought you some breakfast,” he explained as he pulled a jumble of containers out of the bag and placed them on your desk, “I tried to make sure I balanced all the proper nutrients to ensure you wouldn’t suffer any adverse effects from not having eaten this morning.”
You busied yourself with looking at all the containers of food to hide the tears that were welling in your eyes. You had never had someone care for you so completely like this before. Unfortunately, your plan didn’t work, since the awkwardly yet earnestly prepared food only brought more tears to your eyes. You had never expected that strangely cut fruit, mangled pancakes, and soggy cereal sitting in its own milk would make you cry with joy, but the amount of thought and care that had clearly gone into each piece of the meal was about to reduce you to ugly sobs.
You could feel Alistair watching you intently as you opened each of the containers, seemingly trying to gauge your response. When he couldn’t bear it any longer, he finally broke the silence.
“If you don’t like it, I—I’m happy to go out and buy you something. I haven’t had human food in so long and even—even then I didn’t actually prepare it so I tried reading some of Carlisle’s recipe books but I think I still didn’t get it right—”
“Alistair,” you didn’t normally like to cut him off, but you refused to let his anxious rambling sew any seeds of doubt in his mind. “It’s absolutely perfect – I can’t wait to taste it all!”
Alistair beamed at you then, a rare sight, but a welcome one.
“I just have one question though,” you said, and he looked at you quizzically, waiting for your inquiry. “Can I give you a hug?”
Confusion turned to elation on his face, and he spread his arms in assent and anticipation. You threw yourself on him, wrapping your arms around his neck as you wiped away a few escaped tears. His arms closed around your back hesitantly, like he wasn’t quite sure what to do with them, but his uncertainty seemed to fade as you melted into his grasp, and he wrapped you even more tightly in his embrace.
Both of you were smiling when you finally pulled away. You settled into your desk chair and motioned to Alistair to pull up another. He sat just close enough that your knees could touch as you surveyed the feast before you.
“What do you think I should start with?” you asked him.
“Maybe the pancakes? I’m rather proud of those.”

Twilight Advent Calendar 2023 Event
🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
Dec. 10 - Pick one of the witnesses in Breaking Dawn. What was it like for them to stay at the Cullens' home for those two weeks? Who did they spend time with?
I'm trying to decide who Alistair spent time with when he finally ventured out of the attic (or who finally joined him in the attic). Bella's impression was that he didn't have any admirers among the gathered witnesses; fair enough for a "misanthropic English vampire."
But he does consider Carlisle his friend, at the very least, and as much as Carlisle loves a full house, I imagine that attic started to look rather appealing after a while. Carlisle eventually crawled up the ladder and stooped as he wove his way through the empty Christmas decor boxes over to where Alistair was huddled, quickly burning through the pile of books the Cullens had thoughtfully "stored" up there.
Nothing eases a stressful situation like completely ignoring it for a while to catch up with a distant friend. They caught up on news and gossip and such, and eventually settled into their old banter about philosophies and ancient monster legends and eschatology and other happy topics. Carlisle finally got to thank Alistair for sending his father's old cross a few decades back. Eventually, he found Alistair receptive enough to share a little more deeply about how his life has changed over the past century and how he fears the confrontation with the Volturi will go.
Alistair is a good listener when he needs to be. Whether or not he had any comfort or advice is another matter, but it still helped Carlisle to take off his mantle of leadership for a while and just be a regular guy talking to his friend. Alistair returned the token of trust by rolling his eyes and saying that Carlisle clearly needed a good, stiff drink. So they went on a hunt together. It was a little outside Carlisle's comfort zone, what with Alistair taking the hunter and Carlisle taking the deer, but he was tired of being preachy when no one ever listened anyway.
Siobhan is more of an fond acqaintance because Liam is deeply uncomfortable with Alistair's literal English nobility vibe to the point of open hostility. So Siobhan takes the opportunity to catch up with Alistair a bit, but she doesn't go up into the attic. They only talk when Alistair takes the occasional breath of fresh air. He can't help but be intrigued by Carlisle and Eleazar’s theory re: Siobhan's "gift," so that gives them something new to talk about. And novelty is the currency of choice among vampire friends in general.
Finally, I hope Alistair made at least some small effort to introduce himself to the American nomads. Garrett, at least, is up for anything.
In the end, the whole thing was too much for Alistair. Learning and observing kept him going for a little while, but his rusty social battery was depleted long before the Volturi were due to arrive. His anxiety finally beat out his loyalty in the end. Ah well, he knows Carlisle well enough to expect forgiveness.

Pls tell me me about alistair/uriel 🍵
this ask is like Pandora's box for me. Thank you, Plant.
Well first things first, I don't actually have any concrete plot or setting for them and the rest of the cast so there will be things that are incredibly vague.
But anyway, I first conceived Alistair as a play on the whole mysterious missing dad trope. He's the all-powerful chosen one of a previous generation through some sort of bloodline magic shit, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances, he had a child with a normal, civilian woman who didn't know anything about his status, and everyone thinks he's dead. He also -and this is absolutely critical- sucks absolute shit.
He's never wanted to be the hero, ever, and he has such a massive imposter complex due to a lifetime of being put on a pedestal he's convinced himself that no one actually knows him due to it, up to and including his childhood best friend who's known him since he was born, Uriel. He also uses this sense of disconnect from everyone to justify his manipulative and inconsiderate behavior, because, well, it's not like anyone actually cares about him past what he can do for them, so why should he care about them? As mentioned before, this behavior also extends to Uriel.
But the thing is that Uriel knows Alistair better than Uriel does himself some days, and is also so horribly head over heels for him and is fully intending on taking that secret to the grave. Alistair's already figured it out though, and while he's also so terrifyingly in love with him he feels like he might throw up sometimes (though he insists it's just a crush and that it'll go away) (he's been saying that for years), he's also insisting that Uriel isn't actually in love with him, just the (false) version of him inside his head and that it'll go away eventually. He also has a tendency to manipulate him and act in ways that specifically play on Uriel's feelings for him because, as mentioned above, he sucks.
Anyway, when they're like 18-19, Alistair starts a relationship with a human girl named Brook (the vague idea of Alistair's powers is that he can like teleport, especially between like dimensions/worlds. Don't interrogate it too much) (another thing I forgot to mention is that Alistair has this very intense wanderlust) to run away from his feelings for Uriel and other issues. He doesn't love her, but he does like her, she's funny and stubborn and dedicated to the people she cares about and completely willing to yell at him when he's being an ass, and he thinks he could maybe love her, someday. (He's describing Uriel. Everything he could see himself maybe someday loving about her is something he already loves about Uriel. There are differences, of course, she's loud and expressive and impulsive where he's solemn and silent and carefully thought out, but still. The relationship was doomed from the start.) This is absolutely not something he's supposed to be doing, so he hides it from everyone but Uriel knows that something is up, he just doesn't press on it too much because he knows that Alistair won't tell him and that he's been feeling the pressure of everything especially lately so he doesn't want to stress him out even more. This backfires on him spectacularly when Alistair and Brook run away together and start living in a van together, giving no explanation to his family or Uriel.
At some point on the road, less than a year, Alistair accidentally gets Brook pregnant. Alistair, who's been spiraling ever since they went on the road due to his issues getting worse and worse and worse and the cracks in his relationship with Brook starting to show and can not handle the idea of bringing someone with his pedestal to stand on, his burden to carry into this world, leaves without a word the morning after she tells him. Brook had been kicked out by her parents before leaving because they never approved of Alistair and other underlying issues between them and the fighting just got worse and worse until they gave an ultimatum of staying under their roof or staying with him and she chose to stay with him. The only reason they excepted her back was because she was pregnant. Brook never stops being angry at him. She loves her daughter (not his or their. He didn't want to be in either of their lives, so he doesn't get the privilege being a father) but she never stops being angry at him, not once in 15 years.
Back to Uriel, he's practically catatonic for about a year and a half. Alistair was the most important person in his life. He's centered so much of his life around him, so many of his plans for the future around him. And Alistair just left him. Uriel's technically still a functioning member of society, but there's nothing behind his eyes. He's just going through the motions. He's stuck in the what-ifs for over a year. What if he stopped him from leaving, what if he noticed how bad he was doing sooner (and the secret, stupid, traitorous question: what if he convinced Alistair to take him with him) but he can't stay like that forever, he has things to do.
He gets an apprenticeship with a local blacksmith, makes friends with his coworkers, gets his own place, works on personal projects, gets new hobbies, lives his life. But still, he never quite forgets about him, never quite moves on. Years pass, and people start assuming Alistair's dead. Uriel never quite accepts it, not because he thinks he's coming back, but because he thinks that Alistair just finally decided to run away. He says finally because this was a common pipe dream for a young Alistair. He's a bit angry at him- how couldn't he be- but he gets it, gets why he needed to get away so badly. If he ever saw him again he'd probably hit him, but they'd be fine after. Just like they always were.
But then 15 years later, he (somehow. Don't question me on how this happens) meets a girl with Alistair's eyes and chin and his platinum blonde, practically white hair named Stella, who's freshly 14 years old and ostensibly human and awakening to magic she doesn't understand (and why would she? humans aren't supposed to even have magic) and that Uriel has known since he and Alistair were 5. The girl tells him she's never met her father, because he left her mom while she was pregnant. He decides that if he ever sees Alistair again he's going to kill him.

"In Scorching Waters" is an +18 interactive fiction fantasy story, featuring adventure, magic, and romance.
Demo coming soon. Inbox open for questions! (Minors, please DNI)
Tumblr media
You are a deserter. You want nothing to do with the Kingdom and its army, with battle magic, or with the past life you’ve buried. That is, until one day you return home to find an old friend waiting for you by your doorstep, with a proposition that will have you putting your old skills to use in exchange for valuable information on your long-lost family.
After being taken from your family at a young age, you spent many years of your life honing your magic skills for combat and then serving in the army of the Kingdom of Keth. For a long time during the current war efforts against the Kingdom of Ashara, you had served your nation loyally – willingly or not –, until something made you turn your back on it.
It’s been four years since you started living a quiet, discrete life on an island far away from Keth’s influence. That is, until you return home one day to find Al, an old friend from the army, waiting for you by your doorstep, with a proposition that will have you putting your old skills to use in exchange for valuable information on your family.
Tumblr media
The situation, as it stands: Al’s uncle, an important political figure in Keth, has been captured by a group who now hold the power to destroy their family’s political standing within the Kingdom – and that would be a best-case scenario. With negotiations for his release falling apart, Al has gathered a team of people who all depend on and/or would benefit from their family maintaining political power, and is planning to sail across the seas to release said uncle from captivity. They are asking you to join this quest, and in exchange, they promise you nothing short of your greatest wish: information on the family you were torn away from more than a decade ago.
Tumblr media
Join in on a rescue mission that will have you sailing through dangerous seas, with mostly strangers for company.
Boost team morale and learn to work as a unit to survive the dangers of the journey, or face the consequences.
Face magically-induced weather events, mystical beasts, human criminals, and more.
Restore your years-long friendship with an old army companion, or push them even further away.
Pursue romance with someone from your new team (with two someones, perhaps), or have a fling with one of the crewmates.
And most importantly: make sure the mission succeeds and you survive to get the information that made you tag along on this journey in the first place.
Tumblr media
Play as a man, woman, or non-binary person. Pick your character’s name, gender, pronouns, appearance, and sexual orientation.
Decide your combat magic specialization: play as an Elementalist, balancing the duality of fire and ice to unleash both frost and infernos on your enemies; a Countermage, proficient in shielding and warding yourself and your allies, and in negating magical effects; or an Electromancer, an expert in manipulating charges, currents, and electricity to wield lightning with your bare hands.
Choose how to approach your new companions: be cold, be rude, keep a professional distance, create new friendships, or perhaps do some flirting.
Different romances available: a friend from your old life, whom you estranged after disappearing without saying goodbye; a scholar turned outlaw, disenchanted and hardened after his fall from grace; or a sweet nomad, who despite spending most of their time alone in the wilderness, is the most excited one about the current company. (possible additions in the future)
Tumblr media
Al, the Old Friend (Alistair/Alissa) – M/F, he/him or she/her. RO.
Dark brown skin. Coiled black hair, oval-shaped face. Alistair has a short, well-kept beard. Round dark brown eyes, straight eyebrows, long eyelashes, and a button nose. And the perfect posture of someone who has spent all their life training on how to present themselves in front of the masses. Alistair: 5’9, Alissa: 5’6.
Al comes from a prestigious family with a long, respected political history in the Kingdom of Keth, and they have spent their entire lives preparing for an eventual future in politics like the rest of their family. Al was one of the first people you met when you left the academy to join the mage army, and the two of you grew very close over the years serving in the same squad. And then you fled from the Kingdom without saying goodbye.
Possible variations: 1. close friends; 2. close friends and MC was in love with Al; 3. close friends in love, but neither tried to cross the final line. (Note: this choice won’t lock you out of romancing other characters/lock you into romancing Al.)
Tumblr media
Kaden, the Outlaw – M, he/him. RO.
Light beige skin. Slightly rectangular face shape, with a square chin, with a cleft. Hooded, upturned brown eyes, with dark upward eyebrows. Starting to develop soft frown lines between the eyes due to constant frowning (both out of annoyance and due to his mild nearsightedness). Shoulder-length, straight black hair, kept partially tied back. 5’11.
Kaden was once a brilliant historian and archaeologist, but he stepped on too many powerful toes in his attempts to disseminate his research. His dismissal from the field, academia, and eventually from the Kingdom’s capital was as quiet and surreptitious as the removal of his publications from bookshelves.
His reason for joining in on this dangerous quest isn’t clear, but it certainly isn’t out of affection or respect for Al.
Tumblr media
Castis/Catalina, the Nomad – M/F, he/him or she/her. RO.
Light, tanned skin. Heart-shaped face, with a pointy chin. Almond-shaped green eyes, thick rounded eyebrows, and a straight nose. Freckles all over the face and shoulders. Wavy, light brown hair that reaches a little below the shoulders. Castis: 5’10, Catalina: 5’9.
C is a sweet, approachable person, eager to socialize with anyone who gives them the chance to; it is both odd and impressive that someone who spends all their time alone in the wilderness can have such people skills. Despite being on a quest that may very well send them to their death in waters far away from the woods they are used to, they are very enthusiastic about the adventure to come.
Tumblr media
This story is rated +18. It will feature strong language, violence, and (optional) sexual content. Reader discretion is advised.
Once the demo is out (and as it gets updated over time), I'll also be updating the content warnings, which will include a list of potentially sensitive topics.

🔸 Twilight characters fancast 🔸
Vladimir : Vladimir is one of the founding members of the Romanian coven, the enemy clan of the Volturi. His coven was once the most powerful in the world, but when the Volturi rose to power, they were defeated in a century-long struggle.
Stefan : Stefan is a founding member of the Romanian coven, He and Vladimir are the only two survivors from the coven's destruction.
The Romanian coven ruled for over 1000 years in the previous Romanian territory of Dacia. They are one of the oldest vampire covens.
Amun : Leader of the Egyptian coven. Born before 2500 BC. He abandoned his previous coven when the Volturi attacked it. Amun had a very strong survival instinct, and he was willing to bow to the Volturi if it kept him alive. However, Amun was always bitter at having to surrender his former lifestyle. He loved the worship, the towering desert monuments, and the excess. He knew he could not plot against the Volturi, because Aro would find out. But he hoped that, over time, he could gain the strength to oppose them.
Alistair : born around 1300 AD . Alistair is an English solitary, nomadic vampire and friends of a sort with Carlisle Cullen. He is gifted with a unique tracking ability that allows him to track animate beings at a greater distance than most vampires can. Because of the way he was changed into a vampire Alistair left civilization and avoided all contact with humans, except when he hunted, and mistrusted everyone and everything that had to do with authority figures with a sense of paranoia.

Send me 💬, and i’ll use a reblogged meme to create a starter for you!
@falkenar (thank you!) | From here.
To say she expects Alistair is a lie. She's not even sure Alice expected him, so meeting at the front of their house comes as quite the surprise— if not a pleasant one.
She greets the nomad with a beaming smile, hands ready to take whatever she can from him. She's already thinking about spare rooms, but deep down she knows the attic will become his choice of residence for the duration he's here.
❛ you can always ask us for help if you need it, ❜ she eventually reminds him, smile never wavering, "what brings you here, my friend?"

garrett denali x shy shy mate?please
..
….
.
So the thing is…I don’t see Garrett with a shy mate at all. If you’re shy the best vamps for this have to be Alistair, Amun, Carlisle, Jasper, Eleazar, Carmen, Kebi, Tia, the Amazonian coven, and maybe some of the nomads.
Let’s put you in the situation he found Kate, he teases you about your power or ability and instead of confidently showing off you shrink back or blush or get quiet because every one starts to look at you…he is backing off.
Garrett enjoys a challenge. Someone who will immediately be sassy or fiery back. Someone who makes snide remarks or speaks their mind in big groups of people. He wouldn’t ignore you and may try to prompt you to talk but you have to put yourself out there which in assuming is not something you’d want to do.
There’s a chance he takes the challenge of getting you to talk or laugh but it would be more of a friendly level. He is one of the few that I think would do good with a chaotic personality. Someone adventurous and not a homebody, and while he does enjoy settling down every once in awhile he’s enjoys enjoying life to the best of his abilities. And of course no one that comes from England 😂

VAL'S BG3 VERSE CHEATSHEET.
as a tl;dr; i will be keeping Val's DA verse as her home canon, meaning that her BG3 AU will be a secondary verse that acts as a sequel of sorts to her DAO timeline, blurring both universes together a little.
her BG3 verse picks up ten years after the events of DAO, during the DAI timeline when the Hero of Ferelden is conspicuously absent and based around the line from a romanced warden Alistair where he talks about the DAO protagonist having gone "west" in search of a cure to the taint.
considering that Alistair is Val's romance by default, the difference here is that this takes place in her arc where she and Alistair have amicably broken up and he is made king. Val is pursuing a lead for a cure that takes her west of Thedas into the continent of Faerun, where she travels onward to the Sword Coast and is abducted by the nautiloid like the other origin companions.
following a wonderful discussion with mel ( @spiderwarden ) about the potential connections that can be drawn between the dalish and the drow in a crossover verse, Val would technically qualify in Faerun on first glance as a high elf, though her lifestyle and background is nothing like them for the most part. in a continent of heightened elven magic where Solas's tearing down of the veil did not reach, Val would have a high elven lifespan assuming that she is able to cure the taint that limits her lifespan to 20-30 years from her induction as a Grey Warden. ( as for how to cure it? like Grand Enchanter Fiona, she would need the taint "drawn" out of her bloodstream. it is mine and @anquenin's working theory that astarion, or rather vampires in general, could be the cure she's been looking for )
speaking of the taint, the effect of the Calling on Val is paused as a result of the mindflayer tadpole.
in DA she is a rogue class with the ranger specialisation ( and i have brought in D&D elements in terms of writing her over the past few years anyway ), so in BG3 i played her as a ranger / rogue ( and this is what stops me from making her a druid despite her background. she may originate from a nomadic clan but she was one of their hunters, and refined those combat skills during her years in Amaranthine leading the Grey Wardens )
naturally, Val's choices align with a "good" playthrough after already having saved the world once, but a lot of what i wish to explore with her BG3 arc is Val being in an older, more mature place as opposed to the 19/20 year old Val who was forced to join the Grey Wardens and amass an army to fight the Archdemon. that version of Val was naïve to much of human society and was pushed into a lot of decisions ( such as making Alistair king ) by those around her, particularly when it came to the Landsmeet. as a result, she prioritised duty and the safety of Ferelden over her own happiness during the game and for the ten years afterwards, and her BG3 arc gives her the chance to seize a happy ending for herself too.

I have never actually asked, but maybe you could share something about your original work? 👀 Not necessarily all the details, but a brief overview or your favourite part of it so far?
Oh. Oh what a can of worms you just opened lmao. Thank you my love, so very much, for asking.
Look gang, I’m writing a book series!
⚔️🌩️The Stormsinger Chronicles🌩️⚔️
Growing up, I always wanted to escape into fantasy novels. I wanted to be the knight, and the princess, and the dragon. But I wanted to read something that wasn’t Ye Olde Medieval England or Gritty America But With Magic. I wanted to find a place closer to home, you know?
Cue the Stormsinger Chronicles.
In a world where magic has been strictly prohibited, and the cycle of life and death has grown stagnant, two sisters must overcome a decade-long rift to set things to rights. If they don’t murder each other first. Which is hard to do when people can't die, but Kyrie and Petrah are nothing if not stubborn.
In short: it’s a longform, speculative fiction trilogy set in a landscape inspired by the people, flora, and fauna of New Zealand!
In (slightly less) short: its a queer fantasy novel, yo. Every one of these characters is a delightful mess. There is not one “chosen one” among them — it's just a bunch of gays, doing their best (struggling. failing. bickering. falling in love. punching each other in the face). The story hinges on the relationships between characters — familial, platonic, romantic, antagonistic — and through this, and the wider world, I’m writing with the aim that ANYONE can pick up this fantasy land and know that there is a place for them here. We can leave the straight, white, male heroes in the fantasy books of old. (Except for Callum, who I wrote to be a straight, white male hero on purpose to subvert everything that trope is hehe. He's very sweet.)
Here's some characters!
Kyrie: Grumpy, foul-mouthed OG Fuck Up. Probably covered in mud.
Petrah: Done with your shit, wants to read and drink tea.
Meredith: Looks sweet, will kill you. Social schemer.
Callum: Looks like he'll kill you, is very sweet (but can also kill you. He won't, but he can.)
Jin: Annoying people into doing crimes with you is flirting, right?
Zamir: That Classy Bitch, excellent eyebrows (with which to judge you)
Niamh: Possesses all the brain cells the rest collectively lack.
Alistair: Literally can't NOT insult you, really needs a nap. He's trying.
There’s roaming bands of nomads! (Un)Natural disasters! Elven politics! Murder plots! Undead! General fuckery! Found family! Gods who are very bad at their job! Runecrafting! Enemies to begrudging besties! Worldbuilding for days! Diverse characters! Yearning! Trauma! An uncharacteristic lack of exclamation marks!
Here's a (WIP) map! [Image Removed - see note!]
My favourite part is... all of it hehe. But currently, I’m enjoying sinking back into the landscapes of the various regions and the creatures we can find there. Did you know NZ used to have a predatory bird called a Haast Eagle? Which —with a wingspan of 2-3 metres and claws the size of a tiger’s— was the largest eagle in the world, ever?
…Guess what I’m foisting on my characters 😈
It’s so much fun to write a world where (lacking predatory mammals like wolves and bears, etc, like NZ’s landscape is) the dangers lurking in the wild come in the form of dread weta, giant spiders, horned barklizards, Haast eagles, and dragons that look remarkably like Tuatara.
Oh, and there's the three Harpy Dens. Yeah, they’ll fuckin’ kill ya too. If the Deathless don’t catch you first. Good luck!
⚔️🌩️⚔️🌩️⚔️🌩️⚔️🌩️⚔️🌩️⚔️
I’m gonna delete this in a hot second! Two reasons;
1) I’m sharing an image that includes inspiration art for characters that I intend to have my own art commissioned for — none of this art belongs to me, this is just a glimspe into behind the scenes vibes (and I had this screenshot on hand from when a friend asked about my character’s relationships)
2) On the map, any and all names in Te Reo Maori are placeholders, including (and especially) Ao Marama; when the manuscript is complete, I want to work with Tangata Whenua to have their input on choosing appropriate names for my towns and landmarks — I don’t have the whakapapa to speak to this myself, being Ngati Paheka, so it would be pretty tone-deaf of me do write without input from Maori voices. (Fortunately all five of my step-siblings are Maori, so they can be some of my first betas lol, but I’m still gonna reach out to like the Pacifica Students association at my uni and then onward form there to sensitivity readers and such)
Draft is at 120k and counting! If you've read this far, (why are you reading this far? i love you 😭😆) I'll leave you with the current opening line!
It was nearing dinnertime in Westwatch, and Kyrie was seriously contemplating shooting a man in the eye...

Team CFVY
Coco Milton: Coco Milton grew up with her father, mother, and three brothers in Trobuck, Vacuo. They adapted and survived the harsh desert and mountainous region they lived in as cocoa bean farmers. Coco was named after these beans by her mother, as something sweet in the rough. Becoming a team leader at Shade Academy was a challenge at first, but she soon learned how to open up to her teammates.
Fox Alistair: Born blind into a nomadic Vacuan tribe, Fox tragically lost his uncle to a Grimm attack. He would form a brotherhood with Copper Kentye, and would become extremely dedicated to protecting and fighting alongside his teammates.
Velvet Scarlentina: Velvet was a quiet girl, her parents divorced while she was young with her dad now serving Atlas and her mother leaving to Mistral to help Faunus refuges (which will later form the White Fang).
She would normally be in the then neutral Vacuo with the rest of CFVY but she knew that this war couldn’t be avoided. Joining the fight on the Sanus Front, she would save the life of her future husband, Cardin Winchester.
Yatsuhashi Daichi: Yatsu has been a brother figure even before joining CFVY. Growing up with a little sister, he has become very protective of those around him. Despite his towering stance, Velvet describes Yatsu as a teddy bear perfect for cuddles. Fox describes him as the destroyer of rocks and baker of cookies.

Oooo that meme!!!
"Who does their preferred party consist of?"
"How do they feel about dragons?"
"What places in Thedas have they been to? What do they think about places other than their homeland?"
For the three of them, please 😌😌😌
eeep ** thank you dear!! <3
1 - [Party] Who does their preferred party consist of?
*rustles drawing folder*
Tumblr media
6 - [Codex] How do they feel about dragons?
Elanor hates the damn things, if her instincts weren't "draw first, think later" she would run away as if there was no tomorrow.
Hawke is kinda fine with them? Like, they're sparkly and they spit fire, there's some sort of respect going on.
Lav is enamoured, to say the least. She loves to look at them, she loves to hunt them, and she loves to read books about them. But she's not as respectful as Hawke, because she sees them as legendary prey.
9 - [Codex] What places in Thedas have they been to? What do they think about places other than their homeland?
Elanor has traveled a lot in her youth. However I think that nobility doesn't really visit places, but other castles or places suited for them - far from filthy peasant. It's all very boring and she doesn't really have any sort of attachment with such places.
Anyway, she really manages to see the world after her Joining.
Other than visiting the whole fereldan territory during and after the Blight, she went to Orlais twice or thrice (0/10 wouldn't recommend. Their dogs are small?? Are those dogs or pillows?) then she visited the Anderfels with the Awakening crew + Alistair (the coolest place ever, she loved them!), finally she dropped a hello to some old friends in Nevarra (amazing architecture, amazing liquors, less amazing undeads moaning in the night).
But Ferelden will always own her heart and soul <3
Hawke hasn't traveled much before Kirkwall's chantry exploded. He has always been in the city's proximity.
But when the situation changes, he visits Wycome and Hercinia with Fenris for a change of air - they elope basically. He later joins Anders, traveling alongside him for protection.
They travel plenty, by feet mostly, before deciding they could stick to Amaranthine, under Ela's protection. There Hawke meets with Carver, finding out about the whole Calling business.
The thing about Hawke is that he's one that enjoys places only when he's in good company. Even a pit full of tires set on fire would be fine, in that case.
Despite Dalish being a nomadic culture, Lav hasn't visited many places before joining the Inquisition.
When there was a shortage of supplies in clan Lavellan, she visited nearby cities, but she never stayed for longer than one or two days, considered how andrastians view her people.
So far, she's liking Ferelden a lot, mostly because of the people - they're warm, welcoming, and proud. Orlais has some stunning scenery, but the wound is still fresh and the Dales traumatized her irreparably. She really wants to visits Antiva and Rivain, tho!
I'm keeping her answer as it is because I'm afraid to spoil stuff lol

30. CAST OUT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AS WE ARRIVED BACK AT THE CULLENS HOUSE, the sun shone brightly through the trees. Most of the vampires had already left the Cullens. Vladimir and Stefan had vanished before we'd stopped celebrating. They were extremely disappointed in the way things had turned out, but they'd enjoyed the Volturi's cowardice almost enough to make up for their frustration.
Benjamin and Tia were quick to follow after Amun and Kebi, anxious to let them know the outcome of the conflict. I was hoping to see them again one day — Benjamin and Tia, at least. None of the nomads lingered, obviously. Peter and Charlotte had a short conversation with Jasper, and then they were gone, too.
The reunited Amazons had been anxious to return home as well—they had a difficult time being away from their beloved rain forest—though they were more reluctant to leave than some of the others.
"You must bring the child to see me," Zafrina insisted. "Promise me, young one."
Ness had pressed her hand to Bella's neck, pleading as well.
"Of course, Zafrina," Bella agreed.
Zafrina then turned her head to me. "And I'll see you one day."
"I sure will," I replied with a smile.
"We shall be great friends, my Nessie," the wild woman had declared before leaving with her sisters.
The Irish coven continued the exodus.
"Well done, Siobhan," Carlisle complimented her as they said goodbye.
"Ah, the power of wishful thinking," she answered sarcastically, rolling her eyes. And then she was serious. "Of course, Vladimir and Stefan are right. This isn't over. The Volturi won't forgive what happened here."
"They're not used to this kind of humiliation," Dad told her.
"I can see that," Siobhan laughed.
Edward then answered. "They've been seriously shaken; their confidence is shattered. But, yes, I'm sure they'll recover from the blow someday. And then . . ." His eyes tightened. "I imagine they'll try to pick us off separately."
"Alice will warn us when they intend to strike," Siobhan said in a sure voice. "And we'll gather again. Perhaps the time will come when our world is ready to be free of the Volturi altogether."
"That time may come," Carlisle replied. "If it does, we'll stand together."
"Yes, my friend, we will," Siobhan agreed. "And how can we fail, when I will it otherwise?" She let out a great peal of laughter.
"Exactly," Carlisle said. He and Siobhan embraced, and then he shook Liam's hand. Then, he placed his hand on Dad's shoulder, looking at him. "Try to find Alistair and tell him what happened. I'd hate to think of him hiding under a rock for the next decade."
Siobhan and Dad laughed again. Maggie hugged Ness, Bella and me, and then the Irish coven was gone.
The Denalis were next to leave, Garrett with them—as he would be from now on. The atmosphere of celebration was too much for Tanya and Kate. They needed time to grieve for their lost sister.
I spotted Edward and Jacob standing near a stream, watching the farewells unfurled. I walked over to them.
"Hey," I said to them. "You both okay?"
"We're fine," Edward replied. "It's just..." his eyes were drawn to Ness.
"You have a beautiful family," Jacob commented and we all looked at her. "She's gonna be around for a long time, isn't she?"
"A very long time," Edward said to him. "I'm glad she has you."
Jacob smiled and I sighed.
"Hey, Jake," I said and we looked at each other. "For the record, I wasn't really going to kill you after hearing about your imprinting."
"For the record, I found your reaction to be a little bit more aggressive than Bella's. But a lot more than Edward's."
We just laughed.
"So should I start calling you 'Dad' now?" Jacob then asked.
"No," Edward replied sternly.
"Now, now," I spoke. "It's too early to impress the in-laws."
Jacob and I laughed again. Then Ness ran into Edwards's arms and Bella joined us.
"Hey," Bella greeted us and took Ness's hand and put it on her cheek. She smiled. "Yeah. We're all gonna be together now."
"Don't hesitate to visit sometime," I said.
"Same with you," Bella grinned.
Then, I spotted Seth approaching us but his face was nervous.
"Jake, you need to go to La Push," Seth said and looked at me. "Including you. Your family is there as well."
Before I could say anything, Bella jumped in. "I thought vampires aren't allowed to be at La Push."
"Well, Sam allowed it to be the first time in wolf history."
Jacob hugged Ness and said goodbye to them. Edward, Bella and Ness said their goodbyes to us and headed to their home. Jacob and I gazed at Seth.
"When is it?" Jacob asked.
Seth stared at him with a puzzled look in his brown eyes. "I thought you knew. It's now."
"What?" Jacob and I yelled in unison.
Jacob shook his head and let out a growl. "Why didn't Sam inform me about it?"
"As I said, I thought you knew," Seth repeated.
"What is it about?" I asked him.
"Sam figured out about Leah and Ethan," he explained. "He figured out about her imprinting on him. He wanted to have all wolves — excluded Leah — to discuss what's happening now."
Jacob sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Okay, are they all at La Push now? Sam's pack and mine?"
Seth nodded. "And Violet's family."
I swallowed.
"We better get going," Jacob declared and we sprinted along the woods; he and Seth changed into their wolf form.
I just hoped the meeting will end smoothly.
It took me about forty-five minutes — for a vampire — to find La Push. And thankfully, the clouds covered the sun. I watched the town with great clear visions: oceanfront resorts, a seafood company, a fish hatchery, and a new marina. I then remembered hanging out with Bella and the guys from school (in my human life) when Jacob and his friends showed up. I remembered the beach and seeing the water crashing against the sand.
I missed La Push.
But there was no time for sightseeing.
Then, I spotted Jacob and Seth — back in their human form and walked into the woods. I followed. Among walking the path, I saw Ethan sprinting toward me and abruptly hugging me.
"Violet!" He shouted as he hugged me.
Awkwardly, I patted his head and he let me go.
"I thought something bad happened to—," Ethan began to explain in a panicked tone.
"Really?" I asked him. "I've got at least five powers on me and you're worrying about me? It's you and Leah that should be worrying about this."
Ethan pursed his lip and we began walking.
"I'm guessing you know what happened," I inquired.
"Yes," he sighed.
"And I'm also guessing that the rest of the family now knows about you and Leah."
"Well..." Ethan took a brief pause. "Uncle Jo and Aunt Ro knew about it before you did. Remember I told you that?"
"Oh, yeah? When did they find out?"
"Two weeks after the imprinting," he told me. "Uncle Jo did notice that I was going 'hunting' a lot —" he air quoted the word 'hunting' — "and when I came back, he started questioning me about my suspicious activity. I told him that I hunted a few deer. Then Aunt Ro placed her hand on my arm and saw my memories with Leah.
"That was when I told them everything: me and her and the whole imprinting thing. Well, as best as I can with the imprinting part." He chuckled. "I thought they were going to tell Mum and Dad about this, but then they said they understand. They understand it all. And they promised to keep it a secret."
"Until Seth kinda announced it to me," I said.
"Yeah," Ethan agreed and laughed. "And your face was priceless."
"I never thought that you two would be a thing."
Then, I caught sight of my family and Leah. Their heads turned to us with brief smiles. They were all standing in their duo but Leah stood alone. I hugged Mum and Dad — and they greeted me — as Ethan stood beside Leah.
"And I thought we were going to get a search team," Joseph said.
"Don't worry," I replied. "I still remember this place."
"And it felt strange for me coming back here as a whole," Rhona added. "It's funny how everything changed around here."
"That might be something I'll get used to," I told her.
I looked over at Simon and Alana. They both held hands with each other.
"How are you both feeling?" I asked them.
"Fine," Simon responded.
"Happy, actually," Alana replied.
"Really?" I said, confused.
"Yeah," she nodded. "Finally Ethan got himself a girlfriend."
"Mum..." Ethan muttered, embarrassed.
"You all are not helping," Leah moaned, rubbing her arms.
"I'm sorry, Leah," Ethan said to her. "I just... I just don't know what's gonna happen."
"It's okay," she sighed. "I don't either."
Then, I heard footsteps approaching us. My gold eyes caught glimpse of Seth and his face appeared serious.
"They're ready for you now," he said, looking at his sister and us.
Seth turned around and started walking forward; we followed him. It must have lasted a couple of minutes and we saw Sam's pack — all in their wolf forms — and three people in front of them: Billy Black, Sue Clearwater, and Quil Ateara III (or Old Quil as I called him). Billy was in his wheelchair while Sue and Old Quil was standing; Old Quil had his wooden cane by his side. I spotted Ayla standing beside Seth (who was in his human form); I smiled at her, happy to see her again. Ayla smiled at me back while holding onto his muscular arm.
She was probably here for showing support to Ethan and Leah.
I spotted Jacob standing beside Seth in his human form too. What was going on?
"I thought Sam was doing this," Leah whispered to Jacob.
And as if on cue, Sam emerged from the woods in his black wolf form. Leah sighed. "This isn't good."
"Step forward," Billy commanded, speaking to Leah, and she did so; she took three steps forward to them, and a few growls escaped from them.
We all watched in silence and with concern.
"Leah Clearwater," Billy began to speak. "We are all aware of your imprinting of the vampire." He locked his eyes over at Ethan and then back at her. "Is this imprint true?"
My gold eyes were puzzled. What did he mean by this imprint being true?
"Of course it is, Billy," Leah replied. "I felt the same feeling as you all were when you imprinted. My imprintee is more important to me than ever before."
The dark silver wolf — I learnt that it was Paul — snarled.
"And yet, this has gone against everything we've fought for," Old Quil added meekly. "You know the story of the Third Wife. Can you care to remind that?"
"She sacrificed her life to save her husband from the Cold Woman," Leah answered.
"So you do remember. Then why did you imprint on a cold man?"
There were many snarls and a few barks.
"Quiet!" Jacob screamed and the snarls and barks lowered into silence.
All eyes resumed on Leah.
"I don't know why it happened," she admitted. "I didn't force it on anyone. I didn't look for someone to imprint on at first but then, I did want to imprint or be imprinted on."
The gigantic thick brown wolf, Jared, huffed and Paul seemed to snicker at her comment.
"Give it a rest, Paul," Jacob said.
"What did he say?" Ethan whispered to Joseph.
"He asked who would imprint on her," he whispered back to him.
I let out a small gasp. The slight glare of anger was evident on Ethan's face.
"Would it change your loyalty to the tribe?" Old Quil asked her. "Knowing that you have put protection on the enemy?"
"No, my loyalty hasn't changed," Leah shouted. "They are like the Cullens whom you have a treaty. They feast on animal blood, not hurting people. I'm still protecting them."
"The question is, Clearwater, who are you protecting? The mortals or the Cold Ones?"
"I am still protecting the mortals. The only Cold Ones I'm protecting are my imprintee and his family —," Leah took a quick look at Jacob and back to them, letting out a small laugh. "Funny how you're not questioning Jacob's loyalty to you when his imprintee is half-vampire."
"Leah, don't—!" Jacob growled.
"It has been discussed," Sue finally spoke up. "And we accepted the fact knowing that the child isn't a threat."
Oh, for frock's sake. Couldn't they just leave Ness alone for five minutes? We just had a confrontation done and over.
"Because this is the first in history, Clearwater," Billy said. "You, the first female shapeshifter imprinting on a male vampire. These things are dangerously learned, but not just surrounding you. Surrounding many things in these times."
"Dad," Jacob grumbled, looking at them. "You've already made your decision. This meeting is just a formality!"
"What?" Leah said, clearly surprised. "What's been already decided?"
Silence.
Billy sighed. " We have reached a decision, though not all of us are in total agreement."
"It is the council's opinion that Leah Clearwater has committed treason against the pack," Old Quil declared. "And thus, she will be excommunicated from the Quileute Tribe."
The wolves snarled and barked with great volume. Ayla gasped loudly and Sue abruptly left, crying silently.
"What?! No!" Seth shouted, making me look at him, seeing his face squinting and tears trailing down. "You can't do this!"
"Your Quileute Tattoo will be stripped from you," Old Quil continued, ignoring the wolves' cheer. "And you shall forfeit all rank within the Black Pack."
Jared sauntered to Leah and lifted his right paw. His claws were long and sharp thanks to its sunlighting against them. And with a fast whoosh, the sound of fleshy rip invaded my ears. Leah screamed in great pain and two more whooshes occurred and then I smelt the wet dog's smelly blood. I covered my nose and mouth with my hand, blocking her scent. Leah pressed her left hand against her right upper arm, close to her shoulder. She fell to her knees, trying to hold back her tears and cry.
"Leah!" Ethan yelled and ran to her, falling to his knees beside her.
"Ethan!" Alana screamed, her motherly instincts running high, as Simon held on to her.
I saw the wolves glaring at the knelt duo. Their intense stares of dark and light debated as their minds lingered on what do to. I knew they wanted to kill Ethan right there on the spot.
"You all can't hurt him, remember?" Jacob spoke. "Whoever a wolf imprints on can't be harmed. It's our absolute law."
The wolves stared bitterly at them before trodded away into the woods.
"You will be branded as a lone wolf," Old Quil carried on. "You will still have your power and but you cannot take part in any pack or tribe meetings. Henceforth, you are barred from the Quileute pack and tribe."
I froze. I couldn't believe what I saw. They found out that Leah imprinted on Ethan - a vampire, a Cold Man - and they disowned her. Mum ran to Leah and checked her arm.
"We need Carlisle," Mum said.
Ethan picked Leah up and carried her in a bridal way and ran through the woods. I turned my head, seeing Seth and Ayla with their sad faces looking back at me. They walked towards me.
"I didn't know that will happen," Ayla whispered with a sad tone.
"We didn't know," Seth added, sounding scaredly calm.
"I know," I sighed. "I heard you."
We stared at each other in silence, shocked by what we have witnessed.
"Violet," I heard Dad calling for me.
With a glance, and with sadness, I bowed my head to them and ran through the woods.

Mates- Benjamin x OC
Benjamin x Ramona
Description: Ramona meets her mate in the most unlikely situation.
Word Count: 2.1k
Tumblr media
Ever since Renesmee had been born, things for the Olympic coven were… interesting to say the least. No one knew how to really deal with her as it had been so long since any of them had been near a child like this. It definitely didn’t help when Renesmee began growing at a rapid pace. That didn’t stop them from living her as if she were blood related. Ramona absolutely adored the young girl, even citing herself as the favorite aunt (Rosalie was annoyed when she finally managed to get Renesmee say it). She would do anything to protect her niece.
That’s why, when Alice received a vision of the Volturi and Irina coming to kill the Cullens, she was on edge. Apparently Irina had seen Renesmee and mistook her for an immortal child, something that her old coven member Sasha had been killed for. Alice instructed the others to gather as many witnesses as possible to testify that Renesmee was not an immortal child. Then, the next morning she and Jasper were gone to gather evidence.
So they went about summoning witnesses. Carlisle thought it best to divide and conquer, splitting up to cover more ground. Bella and Edward were tasked with going directly to Irina’s coven and personally showing them that their daughter wasn’t immortal, and Emmett and Rosalie went around searching for a few American nomads Carlisle knew while Lucy handled the European ones. Carlisle and Esme opted to go to Egypt to talk to a man named Amun as apparently he was a bit harder to convince. Finally, Ramona was paired with Eleanor to go to the Amazon to speak to Zafrina and Senna as they were more familiar with them.
It took twelve hours for them to arrive at the Amazon from Washington. Thankfully their feet were much quicker than a plane so it only took them another hour or so to locate the Amazon coven deep in the forests. It seemed that Zafrina and Senna had already heard what was going on as they’d been expecting Eleanor and Ramona’s arrival.
“We need your help,” Ramona started nervously.
“You can say that again,” Zafrina laughed softly. “This is the second time the Volturi has set their sights on you.”
“It isn’t our fault,” Eleanor defended. “This time, at least.”
“Edward and Bella’s child isn’t immortal,” Ramona agreed. “She was born when Bella was still a human. We have no idea how it was possible, but she has blood in her veins and she is warm. And we can prove it to you if you let us.”
“If you come back to Washington to meet her, you’ll understand,” Eleanor finally concluded. Senna and Zafrina shared a look, then faced the girls. Thankfully that was all it took to convince the girls to at least come back to Forks with them to meet Renesmee and give their own judgment.
So, the very next day they found themselves back in Forks. Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle, Esme, Edward, Bella and Renesmee had already returned with a few people, so it seemed like all they were waiting for Ramona and Eleanor with Zafrina and Senna. Ramona was happy to be acquainted with old friends and new allies alike. Ramona was happy to see some familiar faces like Garrett and, surprisingly, Alistair. She couldn’t exactly say the same for Carmen, Kate, Eleazar and Tanya, a.k.a. Irina's coven. But, according to Bella, they know Renesmee isn’t immortal.
“So,” Ramona started slowly, eyeing the Denali coven for a moment before facing Rosalie. “Where’s Carlisle? I’m sure he’ll be happy to see Zafrina and Senna.”
“In the living room. They’re introducing Amun to Renesmee,” the girl answered. She offered the girl a small smile before heading towards the living room. Upon arriving she was met with Carlisle, Bella, Edward and Renesmee along with four unfamiliar faces, two men and two women. Renesmee was touching the youngest looking boy’s cheek, likely transferring her thoughts to him. No one seemed to notice her presence quite yet so Ramona kept quiet, choosing to just watch the interaction.
Her eyes were practically glued to the man Renesmee was touching. She then watched as her niece’s hand dropped and his hand lifted. A small ball of fire emerged from his palm, likely as a way to even out the playing field. An eye for an eye, type of thing. Edward then turned to Bella, explaining that the boy’s power was being able to manipulate the elements. The show of power earned a giggle from the young girl. The sound brought a smile to Ramona’s lips, she always said Renesmee’s laugh was the most beautiful sound she ever heard. That was, until she heard the still unnamed man chuckle along with her. That’s when she focused on him once again.
He was handsome, that much was true. He, as well as the rest of his coven, wore mostly dark clothes, which complimented their beautifully tanned skin wonderfully. His eyes were red, but that wasn’t exactly a surprise to her. Just about every one of their allies fed from humans. What did surprise her was how beautiful they were despite their unnatural color. They were deep burgundy, yet they still somehow seemed to have flecks of gold sprinkled in them, likely from when he was still a human.
Just a moment later, those beautiful burgundy eyes met her. Her eyes widened and she knew that if she was still human, she would be blushing like mad at the fact that she’d been caught staring. Him catching sight of her caused a chain reaction. One by one the others in the room turned to face her, but only Carlisle spoke.
“Ah, Ramona,” he greeted with a small smile before facing the older unnamed man. “She is another one of mine. She can create force fields for both defense and offense.”
“Impressive,” the man said simply before facing her again. Carlisle followed suit as he gestured her closer to the group, to which she complied.
“Ramona, this is Amun, leader of the Egyptian coven. Beside him is his mate, Kebi, and their children Tia and Benjamin,” he went down the line of people. Amun merely nodded at her in acknowledgement, Kebi and Tia both offered her a polite smile and shook her hand, and once she got to Benjamin, they both paused. Their eyes met for a second time, and Benjamin managed to muster up a small smile before holding out his hand.
“It’s nice to meet you,” he said in a gentle tone as she took his hand.
Immediately an electric shock went up her arm, though it wasn’t unpleasant. Quite the opposite actually. It was like she was brought back to life with just a simple touch. It felt like she was sitting by the fire after trudging through snow, or like she was coming home after a long journey. An unfamiliar feeling seeped through her chest nestled deep into her heart. She felt like she could trust him even though they’d only just met. She felt an unconditional and deep connection of mind and soul with him, and based on the look in his eyes, Benjamin felt the same. Was this what falling in love felt like?
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Edward turn to face Amun. She couldn’t hear exactly what was said, but one word caught her attention: mate. That’s when it finally clicked for her. She and Benjamin were mates. Benjamin seemed to have the thought because she watched his eyes light up. A small smile formed on both of their faces in unison before their hands were broken apart by Amun.
“There will be time to worry about that later,” he said dismissively. “We must focus on the task at hand.” With that, he grabbed Benjamin’s hand and led him, Kebi and Tia out of the living room to where the rest of their allies were. Ramona could only watch in shock as the boy glanced back at her helplessly before he disappeared around the corner.
“He’ll come around,” Carlisle said from behind her, resting his hands on her shoulder comfortingly. “Amun has been through a lot during his life as a vampire, and that’s hindered him from letting go of Benjamin for long.”
“You’d think it’d be different since it’s Benjamin’s mate,” Bella commented, stating exactly what Ramona was thinking.
“Yes, well, I believe things will work out,” Carlisle responded simply. “He’ll come around when he’s ready, but I believe Benjamin will help speed up the process.” And Ramona believed him.
Just a few days later, several people gathered outside to train for whatever may come with a confrontation with the Volturi. Ramona and Zafrina stood across each other while Carlisle, Eleanor, Bella, Edward, Garrett and Lucy stood around them, watching eagerly. Bella had never seen either girl using their powers before, so she was most excited. At the moment, Zafrina had been trying to force an illusion onto Ramona. But, since she had force fields on her side, she was able to see right through it with a simple shield in front of her eyes. Both of their concentration broke when they heard more people coming outside. It was Kebi and Benjamin, much to Ramona’s delight.
“What are you guys doing?” Kebi asked curiously.
“I’m working on strengthening my powers,” Ramona answered.
“Maybe I could be of help with that,” Benjamin offered before Kebi could say anything. The others were surprised by his interjection considering none of them had seen much of him since his coven had arrived, but Carlisle nodded with a small smile.
“That would be great.” Ramona nodded in agreement, then gestured to where Zafrina stood. He took his cue and stood where the Amazonian girl stood once she stepped to the side.
“Shall I go easy on you?” He asked, a playful smile on his face so she knew that he was just joking. A small smirk appeared on her face.
“I should ask you the same,” she retorted in the same teasing tone. “Take your best shot.”
Benjamin nodded, taking a deep breath as he thought of what to do. After a moment, and without warning, he summoned water from what Ramona  assumed was the ground, forming a medium sized ball and shooting it at her. Her eyes widened and her hands shot forward before the water could hit her, creating a shield around her body and effectively blocking it from hitting her. Before it could fall back to the ground the boy’s hand shot up, relaunching the water at her. Rather than just deflecting it again, Ramona’s hands rounded around each other and the water was trapped in a force field the size of the sphere of water he’d shot at her the first time like water in a fishbowl. She threw the “ball” towards him, and in his shock he had no time to shield himself before the water got to him. Just before it hit him Ramona removed the force field that held the water, but it didn’t stop the water’s momentum so it hit him full force, almost knocking him back. Using his distraction to her advantage, she created another medium sized force field and shot it at him. The force was enough to almost send him flying, but instead it just knocked him back hard enough to hit a tree that stood a few feet behind him. Ramona watched as he fell to the ground in surprise, and her eyes widened.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” She asked worriedly, rushing over to him with the others behind her. She crouched down beside him as he sat up, looking barely disoriented but very awed at Ramona.
“That was amazing,” he marveled, which surprised her.
“Wait, what?”
“I’ve never seen such an impressive show of power. Your instincts are spectacular, even for a vampire.” Ramona’s cheeks heated up shyly and she offered him a small smile.
“Yeah, well, when you’re forced to protect both yourself and others, you have to think quickly,” she answered simply. After a quick assessment the group determined that Benjamin wasn’t injured. That made Ramona sigh in relief and stand, offering her hand to him afterwards. He grabbed it and stood with her help. Once again that spark rushed through them with just a simple touch of their hands, which brought yet another smile to their faces.
“I believe that’s enough for right now,” Carlisle spoke up. “Wonderful job, Ramona.” She offered him a thankful smile, to which he smiled. With that, he began heading inside with everyone else following him. Ramona and Benjamin walked side by side at the back of the group, their hands never disconnecting. She hadn’t expected to meet her mate, especially like this, but it was turning into a much better experience with every interaction they had.

Do you think that Alistair would ever settle down somewhere? I mean like a permanent residence thing like the Cullens etc.? With his mate if he finds them or alone. Potentially even joining a coven?
I know he's a nomad, but mans is so lonely 😭
I'd just like to hear your take on it :>
•Nomads•
From what we know a nomadic vampire is just someone that wanders the world alone or with one partner. Honestly, I think all vampires find themselves in this situation at one point or another just to find where they belong. They have to find a person or group of people they don’t feel like fighting the second a hunting trip begins.
With Alistair I don’t think he s wandering all that much. Like yes he is wary of the volturi, but he doesn’t really have a reason to be scared of them since he keeps to himself so he’s not really on the run, unlike let’s say the Romanian coven. But even they don’t really have to run since Demetri can come in whenever and threaten the volturi on them again.
So I would like to imagine most nomadic vampires Alistair, Mary, Randall, etc. all have semi permanent homes in different parts of the world. Some can probably hide out in cities during the day (which would be the smart thing to do imo) and hunt at night. In Alistairs case I imagine he enjoys the woods as he always found the outdoors an escape.
I think if he found someone he would feel less need to move every so often and would only travel as much as his partner wanted but regardless would still tru and keep to the woods as best he can.
As a side note, similar to how orcas or sharks don’t concern themselves with humans because we are not in their meal plan I would like to think almost animals feel the same about vampires. Obviously the ones around the cullens are different but that’s because they eat animals which they aren’t supposed to. I say this because give Alistair a couple falcons pls I beg. I should not have been given this information in the guide if I cannot somehow write it into fruition for him as a vampire.
