2 - Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Answered here, but I'll add another one cause why not. I don't think I've ever actually written a kid fic, either where one of the canon characters is a much younger child than they are in canon and it's about their childhood, or where you have canon characters becoming parents. I've thought about various versions of it a fair amount with various characters, but I've never really messed with anyone's age more than a few years in either direction. Willex would be great parents though, just saying...

4 - How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

Uhhhhh.... a lot? I don't have a ton of writing time at the moment, so the ideas are just building up in my head. There's at least half a dozen, probably more, in various stages of planning and daydreaming and being written.

One that I'm in the process of setting up is actually a response to a prompt you sent me like two weeks ago. Basically, Willex goes on an ice skating date. Neither has done it before, but both assume the other will be great at it, since they both dance and Willie is almost never without his beloved skateboard. Spoiler alert, they are both awful at it. Chaos and flirting and falling and probably a lot of hot chocolate ensues.

Stop making me say nice things about myself! Okay, answered here, but I guess you'll yell at me if I don't do another one so...

There were many things that were hard about being on tour. The long hours on the bus, for example. Or the fact that he couldn't just leave when Luke got too loud, or wail on his drums whenever he wanted, due to them being packed away between locations. But he loved touring with Julie and the boys. And he loved that Willie was able to come with them. Because it meant that he could do the things he loved, with the people he loved, all the time. They'd had to wait a couple of years after forming the band and Julie's Magical Hug of Destiny to go very far from LA since Julie had to finish high school, but they were finally doing it! And it was amazing!

Except when it wasn't. Except on days like this when Alex just didn't have the energy for anything beyond the basic necessities. And, unfortunately for him, his body and brain didn't count showering as a 'necessity’. It wasn't that he didn't like showering, or that he didn't feel sweaty and dirty, despite still definitely being partially a ghost. No, there was just something about showering, specifically in unfamiliar places, that freaked his brain out. And, because of the tour, Alex was always in an unfamiliar place.

This is from the first proper fic I ever published(Read it here). It was basically just a projection fic to get me through a rough patch, but I think it actually turned out okay and it holds a special place in my heart as the first thing I posted.

Then Willie turned around and Alex’s gaze fixed on his face. The conflicted wave of emotions from before seemed to have simplified into just two: excitement and fear. “What do you think?” they asked softly, chewing nervously on their lower lip.

Alex was across the room in an instant, pausing for a beat to wait for Willie’s nod before resting his hands on their biceps. “Willie, you look incredible! ” he stated quietly. “I’m pretty sure half of my brain isn’t even working right now with how good you look. How do you feel?”

Willie chuckled and stepped forward, leaning into Alex’s chest. “I feel good,” he whispered as Alex pulled him close. “I really like it.”

“I’m glad,” Alex murmured. “I really like it too.”

Willie pulled away suddenly, grinning as he threw his arms out and spun around in a circle, the black fabric flying out around him. “It’s so swishy!” they exclaimed, giggling.

I guess this? It's from a fic called It's New, It Looks Good On You that I published a few months back, in which Alex gets Willie their first skirt. I guess I just like how comfortable they feel around each other, even in a pretty vulnerable situation. Healthy relationships, my beloved!

23 - If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?

Oh gosh, well none of my stuff is really that old. I only started actually writing early last summer. I guess... Okay, I didn't post I'll Be Here, I'll Hold You Through It till like six months ago, but I wrote it over a year ago now. It was basically written in a late night fit of anxiety and seriously needing a hug, and I feel like it isn't that good. I mostly posted it out of nostalgia and because I wanted to post something. I kinda feel like I could do better with the material now and it would be a better fic.

29 - If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

Oh gosh, I wouldn't dare touch most of my favorite fics with a ten foot pole, I'd wreck them. But... there's some thoughts lurking in my ideas doc about a prequel to Girl Crush by the lovely @valiantlyweepingdreamer, giving the story of one of the couples that is already together in the main fic. I have no idea if I'll ever actually get around to writing it, but we discussed ideas for a while back in November I think.

37 - Talk about your current wips.

Oh you're gonna regret asking that one, I could ramble about my wips for hours. I'll try and keep it short here, and expand on the Willex ice skating fic I mentioned above. (No I haven't actually started writing it, shut up!)

The date is Alex's idea, cause Reggie and Luke were teasing him and Willie about how they never go on 'proper dates'(Hey, who needs to stay legal when you're invisible, and they have the best cuddle dates). So Alex googles a list of date ideas and is like, "Oh, ice skating, I bet Willie will be good at that." So they go(invisibly), snag a couple pairs of skates from the rental booth(They can put them back later, it's not like they're gonna leave germs on them or something, Alex!), and go out on the ice... only for Alex to immediately fall. Willie laughs and tries to help him up, only to lose his balance and fall too.

They kinda sort it out eventually, but they never get off the wall without hanging onto each other's hands for dear life. Afterwords, they poof back to the Molina's and make hot chocolate, because what is ice skating without hot chocolate?

38 - Talk about a review that made your day.

Okay, this was just on a doc I sent to a friend(after many conversations about said fic and me tinkering with it for literal months despite being under 1k long), but their response was so sweet!!!

"i have something to say i think this might be one of my favourite things i've read from you, if not the favourite it's so good for one because i love kissing in any way shape or form, highest form of expression of love for me, but also because it's written just so beautifully, it's lyrical almost, the images, the phrases, the language metaphor, it's great!! i love it so much"

Okay, you asked (well, @chemistink​ asked), so here is my running journal of thoughts about Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan.  Please note that there is no real organization, rhyme or reason to these bullet points.  Also note I am largely going off the anime, and I am not current on the manga, so uhhh yeah excuse me if any of this has been contradicted.  CONTAINS SPOILERS.  Cut for this and for length bc THIS IS LONG WOW

this show really do got that whole "developing family dynamic between a bunch of fuck-ups suffering through life" done pretty well, hitting you in the face right from the title. As a fellow fuck-up who once had a job with a work family like this, I can't imagine why this speaks to me /s

Despite my shipping preferences, I do get and appreciate that the work family dynamic informs the overall relationship between the cast.  Under all the gags and hijinks, they've all got each other's backs.  It's cool to see a work family portrayed in this way, as a dynamic that can form because of and in spite of a job, a company, and life impersonally and relentlessly fostering a disconnection from yourself and the stuff that matters.  And like, as much fun as UraUsa is to ship, I also get that the stage cast, in their own varying ways, first and foremost admire and revere Uramichi as the big brother of their work family.  

I wonder about Utano as Uramichi's and the casts' work big sister-- and whether she's *actually* his bio sister who ran away form home at 16 is definitely curious to consider.  But even if she isn't, I get a strong sense that she just happens to be exactly like who his real sister would be if she were on the show.

Each of the main cast annoys, confuses, and amazes each other on the regular, and on top of life generally sucking.  And life sucking especially hard in showbiz.  But it's really nice to recognize that genuine human connection is what makes all the bullshit bearable, no matter how brief or individual that connection is. And that shared suffering is interpersonal glue.

Uramichi says he suffers through work because he wants to live - something most of us working class can connect with - but it's also made very clear that he doesn't just phone it in.  It's clear the man busts his ass everyday because it's meaningful to the kids, which in turn is meaningful to him.  However, the kids' show definitely isn't just random setting for the show. I think it's also pretty clear that Uramichi does what he does because he's also been in an extended mourning of his own childhood, and trying to regain some of the pure childhood joys he missed out on due to his strict and demanding father.  He's therefore MUCH like Iketeru in this regard-- the latter of which has a veneer of being funny and adorable, but whose situation is actually just as fucked up and tragic as Uramichi's.  Dick Feynman.

Look, I am down with most ships, and I am not about pissing in anyone’s cereal, it’s just that UraUsa's happens to be the shiniest ball of them all for me right now.  Judge if you must.  But I enjoy that their diametrically-opposed personalities create a balanced friendship, even if they seem to get along like oil and water.  Or sodium and water.

On some level, they prob recognize that they each have something to learn from one another to achieve a happier balance in their lives.  For Uramichi, it's how to smile and let go, and be less serious.  And for Usahara, it's the opposite-- he could stand to be more serious and responsible. It's a telling sign of affection when they both show changes in behavior due to one anothers' dispositions & examples.  For example, one of the first and only times in the show we see Uramichi smile, genuine and unforced, is when Usahara's in pain being his goofy, carefree self.

Usahara in turn, is moved by Uramichi's more serious approach to things, like his twisted ankle in college.  Uramichi is the cause of one of the first and only times we see Usahara to do a responsible thing for himself by going to the clinic.

You could argue that they are both childish in different ways, and compared to the rest of the cast, they're all in various states of arrested development.  Isn't that what a lot of adulthood really is about, though?  Managing yourself as an overgrown child, and figuring out where to find the magic after it all seems to fade away?

All the above doesn't even touch on the psychological analysis you could probably delve into regarding Usahara controlling and voicing the hand puppet of Kotori-san, Uramichi's sleep demon.  A demon who asks the types of questions Uramichi wants to avoid.  A demon that uramichi can talk back to in the form of Usahara.  This is one onion I'm a little scared to peel.

Speaking of sleep demons.  Mine was a big giant 100-legged cockroach on my ceiling, and this show only makes me wish it had been holding a giant baguette. Or 100 tiny baguettes

But circling back to UraUsa, I'm not convinced that the series will actually be ballsy enough to ever go for it outright, but I do have to wonder about some of the deliberate creative decisions going on with Usahara.  I'm probably projecting my bisexuality/biromance like nothing else, but like...the hairclip.  Being first in line point out Uramichi's specific tastes, wants to be up in Uramichi's biz 24/7, or that he's hot.  That weird, awkward denial about Uramichi having a girlfriend in college (idk if I was missing something here but right now, yep, that happened). Or pot calling the kettle black when he accuses Kumatani of being an Iketeru wikipedia article.  Or the fact that Capellini's character homes in on Usahara like no one else.  

IMO the boundary-trouncing queen character gets my hackles up as a rather tired stock trope to see rear its head in an otherwise thoughtful comedy, but I also get that she refers to herself 'onee' and that this type of irony is in line with the show. TBH I have mixed feelings since she's not the worst example, and there are some moments I can appreciate.  

But putting this aside, I bring her up because it's hard not to wonder at the function of Capellini as something like a lgbtq+ dowsing rod pointing to Usahara because in my experience, us non-straights tend to be pretty good at detecting and gravitating to one another.

Then there's EPISODE 12.  Shit, jesus god.  More on that later.

But on the other hand, there's Utano.  The guy she's dating is an unsuccessful, aspiring comedian, from Kansai, afraid of bugs, and who needs her to be his mommy, yet she feels pressured to stick with him in the hopes he'll get around to marrying her.  Usahara is also an aspiring comedian, also from Kansai, is also unsuccessful, is also afraid of bugs, and is also reliant on more responsible people to take care of him.  This parallel puts my eyebrows in a goodamn twist.

It especially puts my eyebrows in a twist when we are shown Usahara fleeing to Uramichi for protection from a bug in the exact same episode we learn about Utano's bf's bugphobia.  My brain both loves and hates stuff like this

UraUsa also frequently has coordinated colors and/or patterns, suggesting alignment.  Ditto Kumatani and Iketeru.  Utano also coordinates with Usahara and Uramichi.

Okay, I'm ready to discuss Episode 12.  The episode where we learn Usahara has held some uh...intense and complex feelings for Uramichi since college.

This is the remark toward the start of Episode 13 that bookends a giant segment where Usahara, after believing that Uramichi was quitting the show, goes through a downward spiral of panic and drunken mourning in Episode 12.  A whole ass episode featuring Usahara's personal devastation over the thought of Uramichi leaving him behind.  A whole ass episode that also took us down memory lane and underscored that while usahara has always had a carefree and irresponsible type of personality, and is uramichi's polar opposite in many ways, he's sharp as a tack about Uramichi as a person and genuinely adores admires him underneath all his (usahara's) nervousness about him.  A whole ass episode I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of, but I will mention that it also features Usahara wondering whether his fate with Uramichi was bound by AN ACT OF GOD at one point 

Kumatani is also shown in the same ep to have developed his own opinion and bond for Uramichi, too, albeit in his much more subtle, understated, and contrasted way.  However, I just find it interesting how Kumatani looks at Usahara after having been the star witness to his entire freakout:

...and having known all along that Uramichi was not in fact leaving the show.  He says he didn't tell usahara because usahara didn't ask...and I'm willing to take his word at face value.  However, Kumatani is also someone who's been shown to be a huge sweetheart and is fiercely protective of his work family, so his decision also reads like he didn't want to interrupt while Usahara was working his feelings out, but idk.  Maybe he also wants in on an UraUsa love sandwich, and I can't say I'd be upset with this outcome either.

so when you have baking dates u have to keep such a close eye on her to make sure she isn't going to poison anyone with her creations

once she gets into it tho, she's grooving around the kitchen in her little robot apron, dancing to Christmas songs when it's not even Christmas and just 10/10 having a blast

not really the biggest fan of cooking but she knows you are, and since you help her build her gundams she does like to try and help our properly in the kitchen when she can

hello this sunshine absolutely LOVES baking, especially for others because putting a smile on someone's face is her main goal in life

she loves decorating with icing too, her go to patterns are smiley faces, flowers and the sun!

at first he didn’t even realize he felt disconnected from things. it started off as a coping mechanism during combat and felt so similar to the feeling of being “in the zone” he’d known before that he didn’t question it

after a bit, it spread from only being there during battle to during conflict in general. still, he didn’t mind it—it actually made arguments more bearable because they felt almost secondhand.

eventually he came to use it as a crutch so much that it became constant.

that was when he started wanting it to go away.

and then because i can’t bear to give my precious c!tubbo constant dissociation he probably gets breaks from it sometimes idk lmao

his experiences:

gaps in memory

auditory processing issues

lots of depersonalisation and not recognizing himself in the mirror (which is even more fun/terrifying if you add in shapeshifter headcannons)

a lot of the time he feels like his actions aren’t his, which helped him to feel less bad doing morally ambiguous things (spying, exiling tommy, hunting technoblade, etc)

after it all he was left with near constant dissociation almost all the time.

it nearly always feels like the world is secondhand to him and he has no control/impact (ironic considering the power he has, and he knows that, but)

often wonders if he is dreaming and just waiting to wake up from a coma he’d gotten from one of his many battles.

when things get really bad he wishes he could just wake up from it.

often doesn’t recognize his hands looking down at them, especially with the burns he has now. they’re not his hands, right? but they are. they’re his hands. huh.

uhhh examples of where it could have been shown in plot if you squint lol

for example, that famous clip of him dancing while wilbur and tommy argue in the background would be a physical representation of him zoning out (dissociating) to get out of/away from an argument.

the whole yes man thing could have either been an auditory processing issue where he replied yes to wilbur without hearing what wilbur had asked OR a gap in memory where he didn’t remember telling tommy the opposite

he pulled away for like 5 months into snowchester and talked to hardly anyone but his husband and son. dissociation is hard to interact with people during because you feel so isolated for so many reasons—sometimes you feel you’re the only real thing there, sometimes it feels there’s a glass wall between you and everything else that IS real. and even ignoring that, most people can’t relate to feeling that way, leaving you even more alone. he could have pulled away because it was too much too keep going through that (i did that don’t recommend it tubbo JSJD)

miscellaneous headcannons that i don’t see very often:

after winning a battle, his instinct is to play a disc and look out at the sunset because that’s what he and tommy always did (see his lore yesterday (june 18th)—he did it with ranboo despite tommy not being there)

i’m rather fond of my original-l’manberg-citizens-consider-haircuts-and-fixing-up-appearances-affectionate-because-wilbur-did-it headcannon so i’ll add that here—basically wilbur gave everyone military cuts and new suits and everything. and while that was just for war, it was also because he cared about all of them. ever since, they all considered fixing up someone’s appearance an act of love.

tubbo refused to let anyone cut his hair after the red festival, not trusting anyone. he would probably let ranboo do it now, only he’s rather attached to the way it hides his burns and some of his horns and keeps him warm in the freezing snow.

he builds walls like how tommy builds cobblestone towers—a reflex, a coping mechanism, a habit. he built the l’manberg walls and ever since the defense has been second nature, whether for the best or the worst.

ABLEISM REDUX

Well… There are so many different dimensions of disability that people can be ableist toward those with different disabilities than their own. …And it’s only in the last couple of generations (within my lifetime, at least) that Disability Rights groups have banded together in a common cause (Rather than, say: Rights groups for the blind working only for the blind, Rights groups for Cerebral Palsy working only for Cerebral Palsy, etc.).  Matter of fact, based on my own recollections, I think working together for universal access rights only really got any steam in the 1970s – when I was already a teenager.

Confession time: until relatively recently (like, the last 10 years, or so), as a physically disabled person, I was biased against those with intellectual disabilities, and would get quite insulted if anyone mistakenly thought I was “R

I’M ALSO WORKING THRU IT BUT U R RIGHT; NEVER 100% DONE. 

I’m working through it, and like to think I’m getting better (and one huge part of that is learning just how deep and intertwined institutionalized ableism really is, in our societies). But as with being a White woman dealing with racism, I have to remember that it’s a case of continuing recovery, and not something I will ever be 100% over and done with.

@bigbluebarns, I don’t personally know anything about suffering racism, being a white american myself. However, I do know a thing or two about suffering ableism, both at the hands of able-bodied people, and disabled people.

People are incredibly social animals and will band together in groups with other similar people. This is natural, and it is good. It can be healing and cathartic to hang out with people who “get it.” But this tendency can also have an extremely dark side, as we see with “isms.” This is going to get long, so I’m going to break it here in consideration of people’s dashboards. Again, I can only speak to ableism and sexism so please keep that in mind.

OMG, I LOVE THESE NAMES AND TRADEMARKS. DID U INVENT THEM?

Ableisms I have suffered at the hands of disabled people:

The Cripple Police™: These are the people who, in an overzealous bid for limited access available, arbitrarily decide who is disabled enough to use a mobility aid, bathroom stall, parking spot, and even sometimes the label of “disabled.” If you are not Crippled Enough, you can be subject to any form of social punishment they deem to be necessary.

I HATE THE CP AND I’M CONSTANTLY REMINDING PPL THAT U DO NOT HAVE TO APPEAR DISABLED IN ORDER TO USE HANDICAP PARKING. IT’S LIKE THEY WANT U TO WEAR A TAG STATING U R DISABLED SO THEN THEY CAN ASSESS IF U MEET THEIR RANDOM CRITERIA.

Example: I used to be able to walk longer distances with a service dog, but was still a high fall risk. My doctor (a licensed neurologist) prescribed me a parking placard so that none of us had to worry (as much) about me passing out in a parking lot where no one could see me, and getting run over. A lovely woman in a wheelchair, who just happened to park in the accessible spot next to me, proceeded to scream at me and my service dog all the way into the store. A manager rescued me by going along with my ruse of knowing him, and invited me into the back were I fucking hid away until they told me she had left the store. It. Was. Scary.

EGAD SOUNDS HORRIBLE. BUT YEAH THERE IS A DISABILITY HIERARCHY

The Born This Ways™ : The experience between people who were born disabled, and who acquired disability later in life, vary a great deal from one another. BTW ableist types actively minimize the experiences of other disabled people, simply because they hadn’t been baptized since birth by xyz. In other words, the suffering was not identical to their own, thus must be invalid.

Example: I became disabled after adulthood, and tried to find solace after being subjected to ableist responses from friends and family members who were unable to cope with the “broken me.” I found lots of great disabled people who helped me, but I also found people who routinely scoffed at my experiences, again informing me that I was not “disabled enough,” and suggested I was being deliberately weak, or histrionic. Sometimes it was almost eerily word for word what my ableist friends/family said. How strange…

I’VE SEEN THE ACQUIRED DISABILITY IS BETTER. TM ADIBS MIGHT IMPLY, “WELL I’M A QUAD, BUT AT LEAST I GOT TO EXP BEING ABLEBODIED; I’LL HAVE EXP U SADSACK LOSER BTWS WILL NEVER HAVE. I GOT TO BE NORMAL FOR A WHILE” MOST OFTEN I SAW IT COME FROM PARALYZED PPL WHO WISHED THEY COULD WALK AGAIN. I WAS BORN WITH CP AND AB PPL ACTUALLY ASKED ME “WOULD U RATHER BE BTW OR AD?” BEFORE I THOUGHT ABOUT IT, I SAID “BTW, CUZ THATS ALL I KNOW AND I’VE HAD IT FROM DAY1 FALSE EQUIVALENCY WHEREAS ADIBS HAVE TO ADJUST” NOW THO I KNOW THAT EVEN I AS BTW HAVE HAD TO ADJUST TO CHANGING SYMPTOMS. DO U WANT 2 BE A TREE OR A MOUSE...UHHH...FALSE EQUIVALENCY ALERT, CAN’T COMPAPARE APPLE N ORANGE.

The Faker Police™: I think anyone with an invisible illness has experience with this one. This is when people who “look disabled” refuse to believe someone who “does not look disabled,” and proceed to treat them as hysterical attention seekers instead of…well, anyone else. These people often practice double ableisms–I have noticed that many also tend to judge Disabled Enough based on mobility aids. Then, they try to chase the “fakers” out of the community, because everyone knows “fakers” are why we have additional burdens added (like further hurdles to access, government aid, etc).

ALSO IF U HAVE AN INVISIBLE DISABILITY LIKE YOURS AND ME ALSO, I SEE THE “WELL EVERYONE GETS DEPRESSED/SAD/TIRED.” I END UP FEELING LIKE I HAVE JUSTIFY THE DISABLING NATURE OF MY DEPRESSION/ANXIETY TO A WEG. 

Example: Before my condition had progressed to me needing a mobility aid, I was already facing discrimination in the workplace. I requested an accommodation to have the crappy fluorescent lights removed from above my desk, as they provoke bad neurological symptoms. You’d think it was a little thing, but when I asked for advice on dealing with skeptical and belligerent management, I met the same reactions in some disabled people, followed immediately by “Fakers like you are why we see knee-jerk reactions like the word ‘no!’ Come complain when you’re actually disabled and need to have a ramp installed! Until then suck it up!”

The Totally Qualified Disability Judges™: This one seems to arise from the natural tendency of people to compare their situations to the situations of others. If they arbitrarily judge another person’s situation to be better or more favorable, then that person is not As Disabled, or Disabled Enough, or Disabled At All. Then, based on that judgment, they try to socially punish the condemned, or to excommunicate them.

Example: Some conditions are really straightforward and don’t vary widely. People with the condition all seem to have similar limitations. My condition is the exact opposite of that. I have the chronic form of migraine disease. Lots of people get migraines, but not all of them have more than 15 a month, and migraines can last anywhere from a few hours to three days. To some people, pain is the most disabling feature of a migraine, to others, the accompanying neurological weirdness is. (Migraines are often proceeded by cortical spreading depression, a phenomenon also exhibited in epilepsy. Just for an example).

So, when people hear what my condition is, they remember that one lady they used to know who had to lay in the dark for a couple days each month, and wonder why the hell I’m in a wheelchair. It doesn’t make sense to them (who cares that migraines don’t make sense to the most brilliant neurologists in the world), so they decide that I just must not be disabled. Or, if I am, it’s hypochondria. 

 I’VE SEEN: YEAH HAVE U TRIED XYZ CURE? IT REALLY HELPED THAT 1 LADY. IF U DON’T TRY XYZ WELL THEN UR LAZY N ALSO PROBABLY FAKING THE EXTENT OF UR DISABILITY?

Fun fact: Internalizing ableism from medical doctors, and from some close friends and family, and THEN the disabled people I came into contact with later, and from whom I seeked guidance, prompted so much self doubt that I had a licensed psychologist work me up for hypochondria and other related psychological conditions. It…turns out that I am not a hypochondriac. I could not find relief from all of these experiences until I encountered a neurologist familiar with my condition, and fellow disabled people who have been around the block, and who are not so embittered by their experiences that they deigned to expose others to the same.

For that reason, I will always be vocally critical of ableism within our community. I will not sugar coat it, nor will I flatter ableist disableds by giving them another name. That goes for my own ableism, too. Now that I have worked through a lot of my own, I can use my aids with confidence and obtain a freedom that is at least emotionally similar to the one I had when I first formed my adult identity (which was as an abled person).

AH YES, IN MY CASE, INTERNALIZED ABLEISM=ANXIETY N DEPRESSION. STILL NOT SURE IF DISABLED PPL CAN BE TECHNICALLY DISABLED BUT THAT’S JUST LINGUISTIC SEMANTICS.

CLEAERLY WE BOTH KNOW DISABLED PPL ARE CAPABLE OF ASSHOLERY.

Mmm...probably drawing because apparently, a lot of you guys like my art~~ <3 Thank you so much for all the support! It really means a lot! <3 I don’t have much to say, so I won’t go on and on lol (plus, I think it’d be boring to read, and it kinda feels wrong—kinda like bragging??)

3. What is your favorite book and why? Or TV show/anime/movie if you don’t like books?

After Ever After by Jordan Sonnenblick because it broke my heart, and Jeffery is totally relatable and lovable. And my favorite anime is Boku no Hero Academia because the plot is very unique (though it may not seem like it since it uses the basic idea of hero school), like the way that the whole story takes an unexpected turn in the first episode ;) (no spoilers lol) And all the main characters are well-thought out, and are really relatable/likeable. They all just seem so human, so I really like that.

4. Which fictional character do you relate to the most? (And why, if you want?)

Oh snap, this is a hard question...I think at first, it was Midoriya from BNHA, because he was just a lame kid, who had dreams that seemed so far out of reach. He was totally unconfident in his own abilities, which I think a lot of people can relate to, and I guess he just seems vulnerable like a normal human. But now, he’s totally epic, and his resolve has long surpassed mine, so I feel less like I can relate to him?? Maybe Bakugou is more relatable now because he has those deep confidence issues, and is constantly trying his best to get better, though sometimes, he takes a step in the wrong direction. I feel like I do that a lot. I always want to improve, so I make stupid mistakes, and end up farther from my goal (like my wrist pain :’)). And then, he has that whole jealous thing/fear of being surpassed with Midoriya, and that’s something that I sometimes feel, though not as strongly and often lol And then with his whole “this happened because of me” around chapter 120 is totally relatable cuz sometimes I just feel like things are my fault even though people say it’s not?? So yeah...I guess Bakugou just has more flaws, and as a person with many flaws, I relate to him LOL

5. Do you have any collections? If so, what do you collect?

I used to collect stickers, though I kinda dropped that...Now I have a ton of stickers for no reason lol

6. What are your top three best personality traits, and what is one thing about your personality that you want to work on?

Top three as in personality traits I like? Or traits I have? I’ll just do like because that’s easier LOL I love someone who’s considerate, understanding, and patient. One thing I’d like to work on is my anxiety…? Or maybe I’d like to be more open?? Or considerate?? Aw, man, it’s hard to choose one. SO YOU GET ALL THESE lol

7. Do you have any pets? If so, what is/are their personality/personalities like?

Yes! I have a dog named Po~~ <3 He’s a total coward, completely skittish around strangers and other dogs, but he’s such a cutey around people he’s comfy with. He loves being scratched, and sometimes even gets your attention by pretending he wants to play (whether it be by jumping on you or making noises so you notice him), so you’ll chase him when he suddenly just lies down and spreads his legs to signify a scratch session lol And he’s just super adorable when he wants to cuddle or comes to greet my family at the front door. <3

8. What is your preferred study method?

I prefer to not study at all. LOL But if I had to, I’d like to have an organized study guide, with a detailed explanation of everything on the test so I can actually understand the material, and not just memorize facts. I’d like to know why I should do certain things in order to come to a conclusion, so I can completely understand and simplify things if necessary. (I usually like a visual/text to help if that’s what you meant LOL)

9. What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Uhhh...tbh I’m not a very adventurous person...Maybe something like jumping off a ledge a few meters high, or jumping out of a short tree...nothing really extreme...Well, I guess I went to one of those fake rock climbing center things with the colorful rocks, and made it to the top of a super tall wall (with gear of course)...does that count??

10. What are your life goals?

Be happy, healthy, and become a comic book artist/writer with a nice family and nice friends. LOL i don’t have too many goals.

11. What is your favorite part of being on Tumblr?

THE PEOPLE! Tbh, that’s the main reason I stay on tumblr. I’ve met so many lovely people, and made so many amazing friends, so I can’t just leave! Aw man, you guys rock~ <3

 1. Are there any new hobbies or new skills you want to try/learn?

Hmmm...maybe painting with oil paints? I’ve always been curious, though I haven’t really done any research or anything ^^; But aside from art, maybe some sort of exercise?? Lol idk

Um, not really?? I don’t really believe in those things ahaha

3. What’s your favourite historical era and why?

To learn about?? Probably Ancient Egypt because it’s so crazy, the things they used to do...Their religion, culture...just everything lol

Well, my memory’s terrible, so I just asked @pilotpig, and she gave me an amazing conversation to share:

Me: Hey dude? What’s a strange conversation that I’ve had?

Piggie: *pauses* THIS! BLLLEEEEEEEGGGGHHHH!

5. Any inside jokes (not with me, just in general)?

Yes! I have a ton of inside jokes with @pilotpig! Here’s one example… “HELLOO! OOOOOO-OOOH YEAH YEAH YEAH, YEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!” lol that sounds completely stupid XD though...it is, so...lol idk

6. What quote do you say the most?

Um...maybe “Oh my...oh my...GOODNESS!!!!” —All Might from BNHA or “with the power of youth” —Lee and Gai from Naruto Tbh I don’t usually say quotes, so it’s mostly just stupid things lol

7. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

The power to magically obtain any knowledge instantly so that studying would be super easy, and homework would be a breeze! ...I mean, it’d be helpful in pretty much any situation, so... lol

8. Favourite British drama, Korean drama and/or American drama?

I don’t really watch dramas, but I liked the Korean drama “I Hear Your Voice”!

9. Have you ever been in a situation that felt like you were in a movie?

Yes! So my friend and I had a bit of an argument. (She lied about her grades, and then my other friend and I were speculating whether or not she was lying, but not in a bad way of course...Cuz tbh lying about your grades is totally understandable lol is that bad?) But anyway, I apologized profusely because I really felt bad, and I shouldn’t have talked about her without her knowing, but she was still angry, and so, after class, I was chasing her through a sea of people, trying to talk to her, and make things right, but it was so hard to reach her because she was storming out, and actively trying to avoid me. I called out her name several times until finally I caught up to her, and told her what a great friend she was, and how I didn’t want that mistake to ruin our friendship. She didn’t really accept my apology, and held that against me for the rest of the year, but she eventually forgave me (I think?? yeah...we’re not so close anymore...).

10. Any funny things you did as a kid?

Hmmm, well as a kid, I loved Batman, and so I watched a lot of it. But then, in one episode, I heard the line “So long, suckers!” so I kept repeating that line, and my parents kept telling me not to say it because it was mean LOL (that was when I was 2 to 4 years old?? Idk i don’t really remember XD)

11. Something you’re looking forward to?

Few close friends, I’d say? I generally get along with most people but actually Being Friends is still a very scary concept for me so 99% of the time i’m like... someone who’s never held a baby being asked to hold a baby. like dear god why would you entrust me with this, i’m going to break it, why is its mouth leaking, oh god oh god etc. Friendship is achieved only when the baby holder manages to stop hyperventilating and just hold the damn baby

8) You’ve gotta go toe to toe with a mythical creature. You’ll survive (probably) but it’s gonna be close. What creature do you want it to be to look as badass as possible?

hmmm... well i’m already as badass as possible & love most mythical creatures but i’d fight the Jabberwock, so we could get an accurate account of its appearance

9) What is the number on culture you wish you knew more about?

damn, number one?? probably the Rapanui? i spent a lot of time researching the island and its people and the deeper you go, the more you realize is missing. the slave trade and the missionaries destroyed almost all of their culture, moai were stolen and housed in foreign museums that didn’t believe they could walk... we can’t read rongorongo to know if it’s an independently conceived writing system, because we don’t even have the language without the tahitian transplants. if the people of rapanui had more of their culture it might help relieve some of the pressure from the government of chile, and actually get them some help. we have no idea what kind of wisdom was lost, or what really happened there, and while that’s true of a lot of the cultures i’ve studied (the hohokam spring to mind) i think the most influence could be derived from the rapanui

10) Do you prefer to do hard annoying things yourself to avoid spending money, or are you of the mind that you work hard to have money so you dont have to do stuff like that (a good example is paying Movers when changing houses)

oh i am definitely a DIY kinda person. i’m miserly to an unhealthy degree. like it’s technically hoarding but in my defense most of this garbage is only going to be garbage temporarily

2. Work you are most proud of (and why): Set the Sails? Idk, it feels different from the others. I’m not good at recognizing or analyzing writing styles but I usually drive the whole plot with conversations. Set the Sails stands out because especially the first chapter has barely any direct speach at all. I guess I’m not so much proud of the story itself, but rather the fact that I managed to deviate from my comfort zone.

3. Work you are least proud of (and why): Depending on the reasons I could literally justify all fics as being the one I’m least proud of. I’m going to say ‘Rumors only grow’ here, because even for a oneshot it doesn’t seem to have much meat to it.

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing: How do people have favorite excerpts. really, tell me your secrets, I beg you. Whenever I get Tom and Harry alone in one room I’m happy tbh.

5. Share or describe a favorite review you received: I love them alllll! I can’t stress that fact enough! But alright, alright I can’t dodge all questions. I’m always especially amused when someone starts reading Rebuilt for the first time and leaves short reviews for almost every chapter while they work their way through it. Because at the beginning they’re all like ‘nice’ ‘i like it’ ‘will read more’ or commenting on the plot and then after 40+ chapters they go ‘...there’s no point to any of this, you just like playing with the characters don’t you’. It’s like making a new friend that gets me intuitively.

6. A time when writing was really, really hard: *looks at her last updates sometime in summer* uhhh… It’s been hard finding time to write during the whole year really. I know I could just write half an hour or so every evening but… that’s not how my brain works. I need to know that I have time, like several hours worth of time, even if I don’t need that long. Otherwise nothing comes out and it feels like work.

7. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: everything I write surprises me No but really, I’m often surprised because I don’t map the stories out. So I tend to write myself into a corner and panic over how to get out of it, when suddenly it just happens and I have a new idea. It doesn’t help that I lean towards drawn-out mysteries in my plots. The only reason why they’re uncovered so slowly is because I don’t know the answer. Fake it till you make it. One of the many examples would be the last chapter of Let’s start the show, where Harry is literally already walking towards the manor and I still had no idea how Riddle would get rid of Zabini in some kind of smooth, sophisticated way.

I’m usually not too surprised over how a character turns out to be/act, because I guess I have a pretty solid picture in my head? But I found myself very surprised over how easy or hard a specific character was for me. I would expect characters that I love to come easily and others maybe not so much, but that doesn’t seem to be true at all. Honestly I haven’t figured out which types I can write easily, it seems random so far. I’d really like to write for Hamilton/Burr but as of now Aaron Burr is impossible for me to write. come here and let me love you you little piece of shit

8. How did you grow as a writer this year: I’m always learning more English so that’s a plus that comes automatically with time and practice. I have grown more conscious of my writing. It’s not just me madly writing down whatever I see in my head, I’m actually taking the time to think about what phrases would best describe it.

9. How do you hope to grow next year: I want to finish Rebuilt. Please. For the love of god and all that is holy. Let it end. I guess just write more, generally speaking? I’d like to not have to sit around and wait for inspiration just so I write anything at all. I want to know how to push through even if maybe not all of the conditions have been met perfectly.

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): So obviously every review I receive has the effect of cheering me on, but I’m going to cue into the ‘muse’ bit here, because the effect Hamilton had on my life can not be understated. The way words are used in that musical is beyond anything I ever heard. Seriously, everyone who likes to write should listen to it. It’s so…smooth and clever. Also this goes way further than just me loving/obsessing over a thing. I’m suddenly reading biographies and watch documentaries and just... history is so freaking interesting??? Not the facts, but the people that lived it. And biographies are literally just a psychoanalysis of people and their relationships, pieced together from correspondences. And I’m always on the hunt for interesting characters. Also everyone in the 18th/19th century could write so well (if they could read/write at all lmao) oh my gosh they sound like such nerds. Idk, I really feel like I’ve broadened my understanding of the world immensely. Also I listen to rap now???  Enter Hamilton’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda who’s basically going around reminding everyone that we could die tomorrow and then who will write that story that’s in your head? Maybe get that out beforehand so it exists. And lastly I did not expect the amount of fun and fresh inspiration a new fandom can bring. I’m casually into a lot of things, but for a long time HP has been the only fandom I actively created stuff for.

11. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: I love writing and reading because it’s not real life, so uuuuhhmmm... I actually do know how to sail, does that count? And I’m basically twisting the science I learn in my studies to write Rebuilt so...

Dreams of a Happier Time (12)

Eurus and Saga shared their anticipation and couldn’t help but let out a nervous chuckle.This was it. If there was nothing else...well, they would be out of leads to follow, but they just had to believe! “Could you start us off?” Saga asked. “To...lead me.”

“Certainly.” Eurus said and fell silent. After several seconds of silence, a soft tune began to play. Saga could identify this as a piano. It sounded like it was only one but it was a slow, relaxing, but almost somber tone. “Is...this your tune?” Saga asked.

“My tune of choosing but it is subject to change like anything else.” Eurus answered. “Please proceed with your end.”

“Right.” Saga nodded and took in a deep breath, exhaling slowly. He remained motionless, listening to the music, following the tune and it’s feeling. After a minute of this, the prince stood on his toes, took a step forward, and began. His movements were slow and drawn out to flow with the music but it actually took a great deal of flexibility, to bend and pivot and he felt the song required. Heel turn, Spin, stop, raise his arms, step, step, step...let the foot rest flat on the floor, now raise his leg up high. He wasn’t aware, but as he was performing what in essence was a ballet dance, a breeze had started to build, and the song had lost it’s somber touch...Eurus was growing hopeful and a little more energy made it’s way into the song. The prince needed to match this new tone and picked up the slight change in speed. More activity was needed but the moves needed to remain just as graceful, but now small hops had worked their way into his routine. The breeze continued to build, rustling the flowers, some of the fallen petals being lifted into the air. Something was happening but the prince didn’t really take note of it. The music was still going so he would continue to dance. Quickly, the wind’s power grew and grew, a fierce gale battering the flowers and yanking the loose fabric of the prince’s dress and rather forcing an abrupt end to the dancing...but at this point it was so loud it was all but drowning out the music. It was a struggle just to keep his dress from flying upwards and stay standing. The gale continued before it seemed to begin to condense before him, the dirt and petals it had picked up allowed him to see a form taking shape...it was long and narrow but thicker in the middle before it finished...forming?

As the being made of bound wind finished forming, he saw something that seemed to represent its eyes blink and then started to stretch. “Oh...goodness me! I feel stiff and heavy...what is this?” It asked, and the prince recognized it as Eurus.

“Uhhh...you’ve got some not-wind stuff in you.” Saga explained.

“Ah. I guess that would do it. Take cover, I’m going to expel it.” Eurus said matter of factly.

“Expel? Oh...uhh...do you want some privacy for that?” Saga asked.

“What? No.” Eurus said, looking confused once more. “I’m going to get rid of the stuff that doesn’t belong in me.”

“Oh! Ahhh...hide, hide…” There wasn’t much in the room. Wait, he had a barrier. He raised the barrier around himself and crouched down. “Okay I’m ready.”

“A shield...that looks serviceable enough.” Eurus said after examining the mostly see-through barrier. “Very well then, now I shall-” “Wait!” Saga said, standing quickly as something dawned on him. “This will be a rather violent expulsion right? Could you...perhaps avoid the flowers?”

“Well I’m not quite in control where the debris goes.” Eurus explained. “And I really would like to get this out of myself as soon as I could.”

“Ahhh...oh! One moment then.” Saga said and lowered the barrier before walking onto the flower patch and raising the barrier once more, now encompassing the entire patch of sunny yellow flora. “This should do!”

“So we shall see.” Eurus said but gave an approving nod. He started to expand a bit, drawing in air before the wind that made his body started to spin faster before compressing, firing the dirt and petals that was inside him in all directions at rather high speeds, splattering across the shield, floor, and walls, but now he did seem...cleaner. “All done.”

The prince lowered his shield and stepped out of the flower bed. “Ahhh...you do look better now. Does it feel bad to have that stuff inside you?”

“It is remarkably uncomfortable.” He said. “Like a moving cramp.”

“That does sound awful.” Saga nodded. No wonder. “Still...we’ve done it! You’re here!”

“I am!” He said happily. “Goodness I am...truly unsure what to do now.”

“Well...I was exploring the area down here. You could come with me.” The prince offered.

“Yes. That sounds good to me.” Eurus said.

“ONE MOMENT!” A voice boomed into the prince’s mind and even Eurus winced. Did he heard it also? “You can’t leave yet!”

The prince raised his hands and covered his ears, trying to cover his ears to dim the noise. “Ahhh! W-who’s there?”

“And please speak much more softly!” Eurus pleaded. “That is entirely unnecessary.”

“Very well.” The commanding voice said. He was still loud but it was more bearable. “Now that YOU have been summoned it is time for me, the sacred Light elemental, to bestow my protection upon our little summoner. That place it charged with TWO elements but your element of wind was greater than my own so you had priority but no more!”

“Of course, the ever important light elementals.” Eurus muttered almost bitterly before changing his tone. “Yes, certainly you and your kind are filled with virtue and nothing else, but there doesn’t seem to be ANY requirement to take your time as there is no danger present, so we shall just...leave you be and be on our way, thank you.”

“What? There is ALWAYS need for our radiant presence and shame on you for thinking otherwise!” The Light elemental countered. “We shall be the perfect example for them as they grow so they can be a perfect being, much like ourselves.”

“I don’t want to summon him.” Saga stated firmly. “I already have a Mettaton.”

“Archangel Metatron!? Good lord!” The Light elemental seemed to be in something of a panic as he misheard the name. “Ah...what to do…? I’ve been selected for you but if you are already under such supreme leadership, it would be improper to push myself upon his pupil! Mmm...oh what to do…”

“I think you may have mishea-” The prince began but Eurus shushed him quickly.

“Listen...it may be in our best interests not to correct him.” Eurus said quietly. “He may leave us be if he believes a superior holy being is already watching over you.”

“But...well...just because we might not like him doesn’t mean we should let him believe something thats not true.” The prince said. “I am the evoker or whatever you call it. You were all picked for me and I am going to accept all of you. We can learn to get along.”

“...Oh very well.” Eurus said with a small, defeated sigh. “If you’re that certain, I won’t argue. Just brace yourself. Light elementals aren’t known for their modesty.”

“I know. Uhhh...mister light elemental, sir!” The prince called out.

The babbling and conflicted elemental snapped out of his thoughts. “Huh? Oh, yes? C-can I help you?”

“I think you may have heard incorrectly. I didn’t say Metatron.” Saga stated. “I said Mettaton. He’s a person that’s sort of like you but he’s...a robot?”

There was a long silence as he received this information...but then they heard him inhale sharply and practically explode. “YOU LET ME PANIC LIKE THAT INSTEAD OF CORRECTING ME RIGHT AWAY!? I THOUGHT i WAS IN A GREAT AMOUNT OF TROUBLE! hOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO ME, TO ANYONE, YOU TERRIBLE LITTLE CHILD! HOW YOU EVEN FORMED A PACT-” “SILENCE!!! Eurus roared, shutting up the enraged light elemental. The prince has shrunk away under the angry rant and seemed quite upset that he was being shouted at. “...Pardon me, but I cannot allow that to go on any longer. You are a disgrace to elementals, belittling the one you’ve pacted with so, and before being summoned, but I guess you light elementals are always so self-righteous that you can never see your own faults. No it’s always someone else. You were selected not by his will, so if you’re not satisfied, begone with you! Your pretentious presence is not wanted!”

There was another silence as the pompous elemental seemed to be reeling from the tongue-lashing he’d just received. “...I...I apologize.” He muttered. “I appear to have been acting less that noble around a young and influenceable child. Truly this would be a difficult thing to pardon. I have all but ruined my first impressions for myself and proven true the stereotypes of my kind, if the wind elemental’s words are to be believed. This is a selfish request but may I have a do-over?”

It looked like Eurus was about to administer a second verbal pounding but the prince spoke first. “You may. Please...take into consideration that I’ve not even known about you elementals for more than a single hour and I’ve just discovered how to summon in the past five minutes.”

“Of course and thank you for this chance to redeem myself. I am a Light Elemental from the holy plane. I have been selected to form a pact with you and guide you through any hardships you may face.”

“I accept your guardianship, but before we begin, I have a condition of my own.” Saga said. “If I’m going to summon you, I need something to call you. You’re a light elemental...you are...Aura.”

“Aura?” He asked. “Aura...this is most suitable. Alright. I am Aura.”

Quite honestly, I wouldn't put extreme emphasis on my loyalty, but only because if you prove to me that you're undeserving of my friendship, trust, or anything like that, peace. I'm out. Family, friend, whatever; I don't care. Yet most people who know me have pointed out I'm extremely loyal, but really in all cases I can think of, I remained loyal because the person was worthy of it. What about something people think of you that you don’t agree with? This depends on the person and situation of course, but mostly, that I put on a damn good front of not being a socially anxious mess. Teachers and friends have pointed that out quite a bit, but I could NOT disagree more. I think I do awfully. What design is on your calendar this year? I don't have a current one. Summer usually soaks the shit out of us; afternoon storms are literally an almost daily occurrence, so as you can imagine, the humidity could kill a man. The weather in general is very unpredictable year-round. When was the last time you climbed a tree? I've never actually properly done so. I grew up with almost exclusively pine trees, which only have branches much too high to climb.
