Oh man I can't believe this :') I've wanted to buy the ninja creami for so long now, but I kept talking myself out of it bc we don't really *need* it.. I finally caved and ordered it on my birthday.. and holy shit y'all this was totally worth it
I made ice cream out of cashew milk and protein powder.. the entire pint is 239 calories and 32g protein, and it has the exact consistency of ice cream. It's not icy at all like some of the low cal ice cream brands I've bought like halo top. This is incredible.

Hey all!
I’ve been gone a while, but I return with food 😋
I have a Ninja Creami, that I’ve used to make ice cream a few times. But I didn’t like that all the “official” ice cream recipes call for cream cheese…which is a weird ingredient I think.
Also ever had frozen milk? That gross texture, was how my ice cream turned out.
Barf.
So I trolled around online, and found a recipe for coffee ice cream that looked promising. Except for the fact that I HATE coffee lol
Instead, I brewed some strong black tea that I love.
It’s butterscotch. ‘Nuff said.
And it turned out AMAZING!!
Tumblr media
But it needed a little something more…something like caramel!
I had some I’d bought from the store, pre low waste journey, but it soon ran out.
And by now my hunger for butterscotch black tea ice cream was insatiable.
So what was a gal to do?
Simple! I’ll just make my own caramel.
For the first time…
It’ll be fine right?
And it WAS!
Tumblr media
Delicious!!
So proud of me, making low waste ice cream and caramel sauce 💖
*tea is loose leaf, and is composted after brewing. The milk/cream I used for ice cream is purchased in recyclable containers. Only the lids themselves are garbage. Sugar, salt, and vanilla extract are purchased from my local bulk foods store-in reusable bulk bags, and one small glass container I reuse for the vanilla.

Just in time for the warmer months- Here is a Recipe for a GF/V low FODMAP ‘Ice Cream’ that will knock your socks off!
When I first began cooking, I was placed in the Pastry section. One of the thousands of things that had to be done fresh everyday was churning fresh batches of Ice creams and Sorbets in a very temperamental countertop Ice cream machine. It had to be sanitized after each batch to prevent cross contamination, and on warmer days, it would take FOREVER for the Appareil to freeze. Then came the Swiss…

Vegan Garden Melon Ice Cream with the “Ninja Creami”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ingredients:
2/3 of a honeydew melon
1/2 cup oat milk
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 drop green food coloring (if you want a more vivid green)
Directions:
Scoop out melon and set aside.
Heat milk and brown sugar on low to combine.
Blend the melon and milk.
Freeze overnight.
Spin using the sorbet setting, it may need a re-spin.
Takeaways:
The texture is smooth, and the melon flavor is very strong and fresh tasting. Using this method did make about 1/2 pint extra melon mixture. I think it could be good swirled with a more strongly flavored brown sugar icecream. It tastes like summer, very refreshing, sweet and mild. I think it was a good use of the single melon I was able to grow this year. Also even though it has a very silly name I recommend looking into the ninja creami if you are into making homemade ice cream.

Just got a Ninja Creami a few weeks ago
So far, I think the best thing I've done with it is Nutella Ice Cream, which is just the standard base you use for most Ninja Creami ice cream recipes (cream cheese, sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a mixture of heavy cream and milk), but with half the cream cheese and a heaping 2Tbps of Nutella. It fucking slaps.
I tried doing some fruit sorbets but haven't really found the knack to that yet. I did a Mango Lassi sorbet and it tasted alright but the texture was meh, probably because I did not look up or follow any Ninja Creami-specific recipes, I just made a regular Mango Lassi and froze it, and tried to run it through on the "Sorbet" setting.
Vanilla ice cream is really easy and I could drown in Vanilla ice cream from this thing. I'm still dialing in and perfecting a good Chocolate Ice Cream recipe, right now i'm doing something where I melt some dark baker's chocolate with the cream cheese at the beginning and then use a little bit of instant espresso powder with the cocoa powder, I'm basically trying to go as dark as I can with it.
And speaking of coffee, my efforts on a dark chocolate ice cream have got me thinking of doing a coffee-themed ice cream; not straight-up coffee flavored ice cream because those are usually disappointing, but like a Mocha Frappe ice cream.
But yeah, back to my main point:
Nutella Ice Cream fucking slaps.

Pineapple Snow
flickr
Pineapple Snow by Coyoty Via Flickr: Pineapple sorbet spun on a Ninja Creami. The frozen pineapple chunks were cold enough to result in a consistency like packed snow. As it melted, it became smoother and creamier. Made with a jar of Trader Joe's Organic Pineapple Chunks and nothing else.

We are so close to the 340s and I’m so excited!
Life Updates:
On the way home, I got a phone call that I’ve been accepted for a second interview. It’ll be next week and this interview will last for three hours. Oddly there’s no presentation.
The Ninja Creami has arrived and my first trial is currently freezing. Inside is one of my slimfasts (180), one tablespoon of PB powder (35 cal), and two spoons of keto friendly pudding mix (20). If this works, this will be a nice summer meal replacement. I’ll update you all tonight!

I had my mom over for coffee this morning and to show her the ninja creami we bought. I asked her what her favourite flavour of ice cream was and she said strawberry, so I totally winged a strawberry ice cream recipe and hoooooly shit this was by far the best thing I've made in the creami. 128 calories for that bowl of ice cream too, we split the whole pint between the three of us. Unbelievable. Literally the best strawberry ice cream I've ever had.
I filled the pint container half way with fresh strawberries, added a tbsp of sugar, a tbsp of strawberry syrup, then filled the pint to the max fill line with 1% strawberry milk and hand blended it all together. It had such a strong fresh strawberry flavour, and the consistency was perfect. I love this damn machine omfg
