Warnings: James is favored by his parents over the reader, but they are not mean or anything, and I think that's it :)

Dear Prudence
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you
Tumblr media
The first thing Remus noticed, were the letters.
“Hey, sunshine” Remus smiled when he spotted you as he entered the Great Hall.
“Hi moonshine” you smiled back at him.
“You know that’s not what you think it is, right?”
“Yes, it is. I am the sun and you are the moon” you insisted as he rolled his eyes a little.
“Whatever you say, love” he chuckled as the two of you reached the other three Marauders sitting at the Gryffindor table.
“Hey Jamie, I think our envelopes got mixed up” you said, walking over to your brother.
“Hey, bug” he smiled at you. “How do you know?” he asked, grabbing the envelope in front of him. “This one says my name” he said, confused as Remus sat down next to your brother.
“Yeah, this one also says James. F. Potter” you said, showing it to him. “But it feels a lot more pages than mine and it has those golden star stickers mum always puts on yours, Goldie” you smirked, mocking him and switching the letters.
“Oh, Goldie! I love that, I am calling you that from now on!” Sirius laughed.
“Shut up, Padfoot!” James said, hitting his arm as you opened the letter James had and saw your name inside.
“Yep, this one’s mine” you told him, taking out the single page.
“Would you like to sit down with us?” Remus offered, smiling brightly at you. So, of course, you couldn’t refuse.
“Why thank you, Remus, that is very kind of you” you said sitting between him and James, hitting your brother’s arm in the process.
“Hey! What did I do?” he asked, with his mouth half-full.
“That’s where you got that from?” Sirius asked, glaring at you a little as James opened his envelope and Remus caught at least four pages coming out of it. He didn’t want to obviously point that out, so he asked something different instead.
“How come both envelopes were addressed to James?” he asked, making you look up at him and you answered before James could.
“Mum writes to him so much, she made the envelopes, especially for him” you smirked, pinching his cheek and your brother quickly snapped your hand away.
“That’s not true!” he argued, with a hint of blush on his cheeks.
“Isn’t it? She writes to you at least twice a week” you mocked him. “I bet nobody else in the entire school comes close to how many letters you get” you told him.
“She writes to you too!”
“Yeah, every other week” you said, rolling your eyes and going back to your letter. “And even then she always asks about you” you said, showing it to him.
“That’s not true!”
“Wanna bet?”
“Fine! Five Galleons” James smirked proudly. You quickly went back to your letter, quickly spotting James’ name.
“Ah-ha! Here we are” you smirked back at him. “‘Make sure to take care of Jamie and give him a big kiss and hug for me’” you said, pointing the sentence at the bottom of your letter as James blushed furiously. “Aw, c’mere, Jamie, gimmie a kiss” you said, throwing your arms around his shoulders and peppering his cheek with kisses while the other three Marauders laughed.
“Ugh, get off me, you annoying bug!” he said pushing you away and making you crash into Remus, who quickly wrapped his arms around your waist so you wouldn’t fall.
“S-sorry, Rem” you said, feeling your cheeks burn as he helped you up.
“No problem, love” he smiled. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah” you chuckled.
“Well, you two are simply the sweetest thing in the world” you heard Sirius from across the table.
“Shut up, Sirius!”
“Shut up, Padfoot!”
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The second thing Remus noticed, were the family dinners.
During Christmas break, it was not surprising at all that the entire group of Marauders were residing at the Potters’ house. This year, Mrs. Potter had even got each of them a stocking, which he later found out had been your request, and Remus felt happier than he had in years. Since his mum passed away, he and his father never really liked celebrating Christmas anymore, so the feeling of this home made him warm inside and he loved it. And he especially loved spending more time with you, even if you were locked in your room most of the time.
“James, darling, where is your sister? Dinner is almost ready” he looked up from his book when Mrs. Potter came into the living room.
“Probably locked in her room” James shrugged.
“Well, could you go get her, please love?”
“Just a second, mum, I’m about to beat Padfoot” James smirked as they played Chess.
“I can go” Remus offered, marking the page on his book and getting up.
“Thank you so much, Remus. It is lovely to have actual help around here” she said, before messing James’ hair as he complained to his mother.
Remus chuckled and went upstairs to your room. He had realized this was probably the only room in your entire house he had never seen, aside from your parents’ room. He suddenly found himself feeling extremely curious to see how your room was. And why you insisted on spending so much time on it. He gently knocked on your door but he didn’t receive any response. It didn’t come as a surprise since he could hear the music blasting from the other side. He smiled when he recognized the song. It had become kind of your thing. He knew you loved muggle music and he loved introducing you to it.
Wouldn't it be nice if we were older? Then we wouldn't have to wait so long And wouldn't it be nice to live together? In the kind of world where we belong?
His smile grew wider when he heard your voice on top of the original song and he tried to knock harder but still, no response. So, he carefully opened the door. Whatever Remus had in mind about your room (which he may or may not think about more than he would like to admit) he never pictured this. Your room was as big as James’ if not a bit bigger, but you had a lot more windows and a lot more colors, by far. James’ room was decorated with Gryffindor colors and Quidditch teams he loved. But yours? Yours had paintings everywhere. Every wall. Top to bottom. Even some parts of your ceiling. How did you ever get to paint that high? He may never know. You were currently painting the side of your window with colorful flowers. Peonies. Your favorite.
You know it's gonna make it that much better When we can say goodnight and stay together
Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up In the morning when the day is new? And after having spent the day together Hold each other close the whole night through
“Um, sunshine?”
“Remus° you turned to him, smiling brightly. Remus had never seen you so beautiful. You had possibly every single color in your pallet all over your face, your clothes, and your hands. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you” you said, walking over to your record player and making the song stop.
“Yeah, I figured as much” he chuckled. “What are you doing?”
“Oh, I get really bored of my walls every now and then, and I start all over again” you explained. “I was in a very flowery mood” you said, pointing at your latest painting.
“That’s beautiful” he told you. “Did you paint all of the rooms in your house?”
“Yes, except Jamie’s” you explained. “He said I’m just going to ruin his Quidditch posters” you said, rolling your eyes. “But I did the guest rooms” you said, smiling. “Yours was inspired by ‘The Little Prince’” you informed him.
“I could tell” he smiled. “My favorite book when I was a kid” he added.
“I remember you telling me that” you smiled back.
“Do you know that program on our last year for magical paintings? You should really apply for next year” he suggested.
“You really think so?” you smiled and he nodded. “I have… actually been thinking about it” you informed him.
“You should” he smiled.
“I might” you smirked.
“Um, your mum says dinner’s almost ready” he informed you.
“Oh, really? I must have lost track of time” you said, walking into your room to wash your hands.
“I’m glad you liked your Christmas present” he said, shyly, looking at the Beach Boys’ record that was playing not long ago.
“I love it” you said, coming back out. “Did you like yours?”
“I’m halfway done” he said, remembering the book he was just reading downstairs.
“Already?”
“I can’t put it down” he smiled as you got closer to him.
“I’m glad you liked it” you smiled, making him chuckle when he saw you still had paint on your face.
“Um, you still have some-” he said, pointing at his left cheek. “Here” he said, grabbing the towel from your hand and carefully cleaning it up.
“Thanks, moonshine” you smiled.
“Hey, Mrs. Potter said-” Sirius came bursting into your room, smirking at the scene in front of him. “Am I interrupting something?” he asked, as the two of you jumped apart. You saw Remus’ cheeks blushing and you felt yours burning a little.
“N-no-”
“We were just- um- on our way” Remus quickly said, before he left the room. You nodded, grabbing one of your books, and were about to follow him, but Sirius blocked your way.
“You know, you should just tell him already, Bambi” he said. “We both know he’s too shy to make the first move, plus he thinks your brother is gonna kill him” he said.
“Mhm, or maybe, he just doesn’t feel the same way about me” you insisted. “And you promised you wouldn’t say anything!” you glared at him.
“I haven’t!” he said, offended. “And you have to be joking, right, have you really not seen the way he looks at you with his goofy smile, sunshine” he said, mocking Remus’ voice and making you punch him in his arm. “Ouch! Would you stop that?”
“It’s not my fault. You moved here and decided to become my other annoying brother, so you have to pay the consequences” you smirked before you left your room and Sirius rolled his eyes, following you.
“Why did you bring your book?” Remus asked, confused when you sat down next to him and placed your book on the table.
“Well, it kinda gets boring when the conversation turns to Quidditch” you informed him.
He frowned a little confused, but quickly understood what you meant. Throughout the entire dinner, your parents had revolved the entire conversation about James. They first asked how school was, to which all of you replied, he and the rest of the Marauders included. Followed by if you were dating someone. And then, Quidditch. Remus realized you hadn’t even spoken for about forty-five minutes. Your parents even asked Sirius, Peter, and him some questions, but not you. He turned to look at you and saw you immersed in your book. He slowly smiled and then felt a kick in his leg. He turned to glare at Sirius sitting in front of him who was smirking and nodded his head towards you.
“What’s your book about?” he asked. It took you a moment to register that someone was actually talking to you before you lifted your head and turned to look at Remus.
“Oh, um-” you smiled shyly. “It’s a romance novel, I wouldn’t want to bore you” you chuckled.
“You wouldn’t bore me, sunshine” he insisted. When you smiled brightly at him, it gave him the courage to hold your hand in his underneath the table as you started talking about the plot of the book you were reading. He absolutely loved the way your face brightened when you talked about something you liked and that you had his full attention. He could not deny it any longer, he was definitely in love with you.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The third thing Remus noticed, was the birthday presents.
“Hi Rem” you smiled, opening your dorm. “What are you doing here?”
“Me? What are you doing here? You left your own birthday party” he chuckled.
“Well, you know I don’t like parties” you chuckled. “James makes a whole fuss about our birthdays but it’s mostly for him” you insisted. “I bet nobody even noticed I left” you said.
“I did” he said, making your cheeks burn a little.
“Um… would you like to come in?” you asked, opening the door. “I’m watching an old movie that Alice lent me” you smiled. “I got pastries from the Kitchens” you said, making him smile.
“How could I say no to that?” he asked, following you inside. “I also wanted to give you your present” he said, making you look back at him.
“You got me a present? Remus, you didn’t have to get me anything” you smiled.
“Yes, I did. It’s your birthday” he said, as if it was obvious. “I’m sure you got so many presents already, but one more couldn’t hurt” he said, shyly.
“Not much” you shrugged. “Jamie gave me my badger slippers” you said, showing them to him. “And I gave him lion ones” you giggled. “Sirius gave me chocolate, oh, Alice gave me new paints” you said, pointing at them excitedly. “And Lily gave me a new perfume” you smiled.
“Oh” he frowned, confused. “What about your parents?”
“Oh, my dad sent me this book” you said, showing him a familiar book, he knew you had already talked with him about. “I mentioned to him it was my favorite so he got me one” you explained. “I don’t really have it in my heart to tell him I already have it” you chuckled.
“And your mom?” he asked, extremely confused. He counted at least twenty presents for James from your parents.
“My mum usually gives me some of her jewelry she knows I love, but she doesn’t like to send it through mail so she gives it to me when I come home for the summer” you explained.
“Oh… is… that it?” he asked, without really thinking.
“What do you mean?” you asked, confused.
“Nothing. Sorry, I didn’t mean anything I just- um- I don’t want to cross a line or anything it’s just-”
“Let me guess, Jamie got about thirty presents from my parents” you smiled sadly.
“Yeah” he said, awkwardly. “Look, you know I love your parents. They are some of the kindest people I’ve met, and I know I don’t have any siblings but… I just don’t think it’s fair that they favor James over you” he said, sadly.
“Look, it’s fine. I know my parents love me” you smiled. “Just… probably not as much as James” you chuckled. “I’ve actually learned it’s not the worst thing. I get zero pressure from them. Last year, I was really worried because I didn’t do well on one of my Herbology tests-”
“Because everything you touch dies?” Remus smirked, earning a glare from you.
“As I was saying… I was going to tell them when we came home for the Holidays, but they were so upset that James had lost the last Quidditch match, that they didn’t even say anything to me” you shrugged. “I can literally do anything I want whenever I want and they won’t really mind. I mean, I’m pretty sure I can even date whomever I want but the day James gets a serious girlfriend, my mum may actually die” you told Remus, making him laugh a little. “It used to bother me a lot, but… they do show me that they love me in different ways” you explained. “But I think it’s really sweet you care about that” you smiled at him.
“Well, of course I do. You’re my favorite person in the world” he blurted out.
“I am?” you asked, feeling your heart flutter.
“Of course you are” he smiled.
“I think… you’re the first person in my life that has liked me more than James” you said, feeling a few tears in your eyes. “Sorry, that’s stupid-”
“It’s not” he assured you, pulling you closer and wiping away your tears. “And I really mean it” he smiled. “Happy birthday, sunshine” he said, giving you his present.
“Moonshine” you smiled, opening it. “Remus” you said, feeling your eyes welling up. “Is this-?”
“Yes” he smiled, grabbing The Beatles’ record from you and putting it on your record player. “I know this is your favorite song and it’s also mine because it reminds me of you” he said as the guitar started playing. “Would you like to dance with me?”
“Really?” you asked, excitedly.
“Only because it’s your birthday” he said as you grabbed his hand and walked to the middle of your dorm.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blueIt's beautiful, and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
“Why does this song remind you of me?” you asked curiously.
“Well, I read that the song was written about Prudence Farrow-”
“Who is Mia Farrow’s less famous little sister? Wow, Remus-”
“No, that’s not why” he glared a little at you. “I mean she is but, that’s not why” he insisted.
“So?”
Dear Prudence, open up your eyes Dear Prudence, see the sunny skies The wind is low, the birds will sing That you are part of everything Dear Prudence, won't you open up your eyes?
“Did you apply to the art program” he asked, making you smile at him.
“You remembered that?”
“Of course, I do” he frowned. “I remember everything you tell me” he insisted.
“Well… I did” you told him. “I should be hearing about it during summer” you informed him.
“I’m sure you’ll get in, sunshine” he said, kissing your forehead.
Look around, around (round, round, round) Look around, around, around (round, round) Look around
“Well, it was written because she would rarely come out of her bungalow while she meditated. It’s kind of like you and your paintings” he smiled.
“I’m not that bad” you scoffed offended.
“Love, I had to come up three times a day every day on Christmas break so you wouldn’t forget to eat” he reminded you.
“Oh, and here I was thinking you came to get me because you missed me” you pouted.
“That too” he assured you.
Dear Prudence, let me see you smile Dear Prudence, like a little child The clouds will be a daisy chain So let me see you smile again Dear Prudence, won't you let me see you smile?
“I really love this song” you smiled. “And my birthday gift” you added. “And um-” you said, feeling your cheeks burn as you looked away. “C-can I tell you something?” you asked, nervously.
“You can tell me anything, love” he assured you.
“O-okay, you don’t have to say anything and… if it’s weird you can just leave and not talk to me ever again, and… it’s not just because you said you liked me more than James b-but it’s been something that I have felt for a while and I just-”
“Sunshine” he said, cupping your cheek and making you stop your ramble. “I love you too” he smiled, making your entire body feel like you were on cloud nine.
“Y-you do?” you asked, still not believing him.
“I really do” he said, leaning in to kiss you.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play? Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful, and so are you Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
“Yeah, go get settled, Moony! We’ll wait for you outside” James said as Remus walked upstairs to put his things away. After tossing everything in there really, he quickly found himself in front of your door again. James had invited him to stay over the summer and it had been two weeks without you. Two weeks too long. He smiled as the music blasted on the other side of the door, only this time, he opened it and walked in.
My, my, I tried to hold you back, But you were stronger Oh, yeah, and now it seems My only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse? I feel like I win when I lose
Waterloo, I was defeated, you won the war Waterloo, promise to love you for ever more Waterloo, couldn't escape if I wanted to Waterloo, knowing my fate is to be with you
Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa-Waterloo Finally facing my Waterloo
Remus smiled to himself before he walked over to you, pulling your paintbrush away from your hand and making you turn around frowning, but you quickly smiled when you saw it was him.
“Moonshine!” you smiled, throwing your arms around his shoulders and he quickly wrapped his around your waist, twirling you around and planting a big kiss on your lips.
“Hey, sunshine” he smiled when you pulled away. “I missed you” he said, giving you another peck on the lips.
“I missed you too” you smiled, pulling him closer. “How has your summer been?”
“Pretty boring, to be honest” he chuckled. “I see you kept yourself busy” he said, twirling your paintbrush in his hand. “Prongs and Padfoot said you played Quidditch with them yesterday” he chuckled.
“Yeah, they made me” you rolled your eyes.
“Have you… told your brother about us?”
“No” you pouted. “You said we would tell him together” you reminded him. “You know it’s gonna be fine, right?”
“Yeah, I know. Sirius just keeps insisting he will kill me” he laughed nervously.
“I won’t let that happen” you said, kissing his cheek. “I promise” you smiled sweetly.
“So, what are you painting?”
“Oh! I’ve been waiting to tell you” you said, excitedly. “I got into the art program!”
“You did? Love, that’s amazing! I knew you could do it!” he said, hugging you again and giving you a small kiss. “I’m so proud of you!”
“Thanks, Remmy” you smiled. “You’re the first person I’ve told” you smiled.
“I am? Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
“Oh, well, I actually told my parents when we got here, but James won the Quidditch Cup and there are… about ten Quidditch teams wanting to recruit him so… I don’t think they heard me or even knew what I was talking about” you said, smiling sadly. “Sirius said it sounded cool, though” you told him.
“I’m sorry, love” he said, pulling you closer.
“It’s okay. You’re the one I really wanted to tell” you smiled, leaning in to kiss him again. “And, I have to finish this painting” you said, trying to get the brush from him but he put it out of his reach. “Rem!”
“I just got here, love” he pouted. “Wouldn’t you rather spend the day with your boyfriend who missed you so much?”
“Well, yes, that’s why I wanted to finish it before you got here” you insisted. “But James and Sirius kept insisting that I played Quidditch with them yesterday and I didn’t get to paint” you told him but he still placed the brush out of your reach when you tried to grab it. “Remus!”
“Well, you can continue tomorrow” he said, pulling you to him. “I have been waiting for two whole weeks to kiss my beautiful girlfriend” he said between kisses, feeling your smile against his lips.
“Okay, I can continue tomorrow” you said, as he threw the brush on your table and deepened the kiss. “I missed you so much” you said, pulling him closer.
“I missed you too, love” he smiled.
"Hey bug, have you seen Moony-? BLOODY HELL! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?" James yelled coming inside your room and covering his eyes at the scene in front of him. Remus instantly jumped off you so quickly he fell to the floor as Sirius came in running behind James when they heard the yelling.
"Why are you yell-? oh bloody hell!" he smirked when he saw Remus standing up and saw that both of seemed very nervous.
"I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!" James yelled to Remus and started running after him with his wand pointing at his neck but you stepped in between.
"Jamie, stop!"
"Get out of the way bug!" your brother’s voice was dangerously low.
"Prongs, calm down" Remus said trying not to show how nervous he really was.
"Calm down?!" James snapped. "That's MY sister!"
"Jamie, please, calm down!" you said also a little nervous.
"YOU SHUT UP!"
"Don't yell at her!" Remus snapped.
"Mate, I would shut up if I were you" Sirius told him.
"ALL OF YOU, SHUT UP!" you yelled at all of them.
“I’m going to kill you!” James yelled at Remus before he started chasing him around your room. Remus quickly ran out with James following him.
“I told you, he would find out sooner or later” Sirius smirked.
“You are of no use to me right now, SIrius!” you said, punching his arm as you followed your brother and your boyfriend. Sirius quickly walking behind you.
“James, what is going on? What’s with all the yelling?” you saw your mother and father come inside the living room where James was still chasing Remus and throwing jinxes at him.
“Stop it!” you yelled running over to your brother and grabbing his arm.
“Get off me!” he complained as Remus ran over to Sirius, hiding behind him.
“You’re being ridiculous!” you said, trying to reach for his wand but he placed it out of your reach. However, you clung yourself to him, trying your best to get it.
“What in Merlin’s name are you two kids doing?” your father asked, confused. It was rare to see the two of you fight like this nowadays.
“Let go!” he said, as your hand reached for his wand.
“You let go!” you complained.
“It’s my wand!”
“Gimmie it!”
“Alright, stop it! Both of you!” your mother’s voice was heard through the room as she pointed her wand at the two of you, separating you, and making James’ wand fly into her hand.
“He started it!”
“She started it!”
“I don’t care who started it! I want to know what’s going on and I want to know now!” your mother said, with her hands on her waist.
“Why don’t you ask your daughter how she betrayed me!” James said, glaring at you.
“Oh, please! Grow up, James! You’re being ridiculous!”
“That’s enough!” your father intervened. “Your mother asked you a question. What is wrong with the two of you?”
“She stole my best friend!” James said, pointing at you accusingly.
“What? I did no such thing!”
“And I thought I was your best friend” Sirius added, offended while Remus rolled his eyes.
“James, sweetheart what are you talking about?” your mother asked, confused.
“Well, mum, I just found your daughter, my so-called sister” he said glaring at you as you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms in front of your chest. “Kissing my best friend!”
“James!”
“Excuse me?” your father said, a bit upset, throwing daggers at the two boys behind your mother.
“Fleamont, darling, calm down” she said, to her husband before turning to you. “Sweetheart, would you care to explain yourself?” your mother asked you, calmly.
“First of all, Jamie is making it a bigger deal than it is” you complained.
“No, I’m not!”
“Yes, you are!”
“Were you or were you not just kissing Moony upstairs?”
“What?” your father asked again, but your mother stopped him.
“Well?” James asked, arching his eyebrow at you.
“I… was… kissing… my… boyfriend” you said, feeling your cheeks burning.
“Excuse me?” your father asked, baffled.
“Boyfriend?” James asked.
“Remus is your boyfriend?” your mother asked, excitedly.
“You can’t have a boyfriend! You’re too young!” your dad complained.
“And it can’t be my best friend!” James added.
“Hurtful, Prongs. Really hurtful” Sirius glared at him.
“Oh, hush, all of you” your mother said, rolling her eyes. “Fleamont, you and I were their age when we started dating” she reminded your father. “And James, you should be happy that your sister is with one of your best friends. Remus is a wonderful guy” she smiled at Remus who felt just a little less nervous.
“Thanks, Mrs. Potter” he said, blushing a little.
“I’m so happy for you two. Sweetheart, why didn’t you tell us?” she asked you.
“Well, I didn’t really know how to because I knew James would throw a fit about it” you said, rolling your eyes.
“I did not throw a fit-”
“James, that’s enough” your mother told him. “Leave your sister alone” she scowled.
“But mum-”
“But nothing. She’s happy and so is Remus and we are all happy for them and that’s it” she insisted.
“I don’t even get a say in it?”
“No, why would you get a say in your sister’s love life?”
“At least she has a love life” Sirius laughed.
“Hey!” James complained.
“Good one, son” your dad laughed with Sirius.
“What is happening?” James asked, upset before he started going upstairs. “I do not like this one bit!” you heard before he slammed his door.
“Don’t listen to him, sweet pea” your dad said, smiling kindly at you. “We are happy for you” he admitted, kissing your head. “But Remus is not allowed in your room and you are not allowed in his, or the two of you alone in a room, understood?” he frowned.
“Yes, dad” you smiled.
“Yes, sir” Remus replied at the same time.
“Good” he smirked proudly.
“I’m so happy for you, sweetheart” your mother said, hugging you.
“Thanks, mum” you smiled.
“You too, Remus” she said, kissing his cheek.
“Thank you, Mrs. Potter” he smiled before she left with your dad.
“I’d like to say that went well” Sirius smirked as you sat with Remus on the sofa and he kissed your forehead while Sirius sat on the chair.
“To be honest, that’s the best I could have asked for” Remus chuckled.
“It felt weird to have so much attention on me” you admitted as Remus kissed your cheek.
“Alright” you heard James’ voice coming down the stairs again. “I have decided that I approve this” he said in a serious tone, sitting closer to Sirius.
“You do know we don’t need your approval, right?” you said, glaring a little at him.
“But there will be no kissing in front of me” he glared at the two of you. “That’s just gross!”
“Fair enough, Prongs” Remus chuckled, kissing the side of your head.
“I just want to say that I am still hurt about your comments made earlier” Sirius said, sounding offended.
“You knew about them the entire time, didn’t you?” James glared at him.
“And I forgive you because that’s what best friends do, Prongsie” he smiled innocently.
“Fine, I forgive you too” James said, rolling his eyes as Sirius hugged him, kissing his cheek. “Get off, you goof!”
“This is going to be a long summer, isn’t it?” Remus asked you.
“Yes, I am so happy you’re here” you smiled, giving him a peck on the lips.
“Hey! What did I just say!?”
“Shut up, Jamie!”

Flo’s old bedroom in her parent’s house hadn’t changed since she moved out. There were still glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling that you had helped her to stick up when you were fifteen. Lando had made fun of them and called them lame as walked past the doorway, but he had still come and held your chair stable when you were precariously close to tipping over.
“What are you staring at?” Flo asked as she walked in to find you lying on her bed, eyes on the roof.
“Nothing, have you picked a dress yet?” She huffed at your question and opened her closet with a shake of her head. “You do realise the party has already started.”
There was no way to miss it with the christmas music drifting up the staircase and echoing along the hall. Every year was the same, it didn’t matter that all their children had left home - Adam and Cisca still held the annual event and attendance was non-negotiable, even for you.
The bedroom door opposite Flo’s opened and Lando froze from tugging at the black tie as he caught sight of you. A slow smile grew on his face and he started to take a step forward until Flo appeared with a dress in hand. She held the floor length gown up to her body and swayed the metallic-finish material side to side. “What do you think?”
“Didn’t disco balls go out of fashion in the 80’s?” Lando teased, drawing her attention to the doorway.
“Didn’t ask your opinion, noob,” she shot back as she grabbed the door and shut it in his face. “I can’t believe he’s staying all week too. Doesn’t he have anything better to do?”
“You should be thinking about your dress right now,” you reminded her as you got up and searched the rack for another option. “Here, this is perfect.”
You could hardly explain to her that you were the real reason Lando was staying local all week. For six months you had stolen nights together, not only avoiding the paparazzi and fans always trying to snap photos of him, but more importantly, Flo. The guilt was a constant fist squeezing your stomach but every time you thought about telling her the truth, the fear of her response kept your lips sealed. Then months had passed by and you thought it would be even worse to admit how long the secret had been kept.
“Babe! This is why you are my best friend,” Flo exclaimed as she dropped what she held to take the emerald green chiffon dress from your hands. “What would I do without you?”
Your smile was forced as you wondered the very same thing. Your mothers had joined the same playgroup before you could walk but you had crawled to Flo and face planted, accidentally headbutting her and making you both cry, but you had been inseparable ever since. Whenever you made a promise to each other it was sealed with the mantra from cradle to grave - ensuring the promise would be as strong and long lasting as your friendship.
You caught the empty hanger she tossed back and hooked it back onto the rack. “End up looking like a disco ball, apparently.”
“Not even,” she said with a roll of her eyes as she shimmied into the dress. “I refuse to take fashion advice from a man who has a hoodie for every occasion.”
You laughed at the completely true statement and pointed at the door. “Not tonight though.”
“That’s not by choice. Mum said he had to smarten up or he would be on dish duty after dinner.” She scoffed as she turned around for you to tie the lace back together. “I told her, wearing a suit won’t make him any smarter.“
You shook your head with a laugh. “If I could get away with wearing a hoodie tonight, I absolutely would too. It feels weird dressing up one day a year. I spent the whole morning here in sweatpants.”
“It’s tradition, and you look gorgeous.”
“I should for the effort I put in,” you giggled, offering your elbow as you opened the bedroom door. “Shall we?”
She looped her arm in yours with a nod as the music downstairs grew with each step. “Let’s do this.”
If you had to listen to another Christmas song you were going to scream, so you escaped the warmth of the Norris’ home and took a breath of wintery air on the balcony where it was less audible. Though there was a chill in the air the eggnog and brandy kept you from feeling the full brunt of the night and you could hardly believe there was snow forecast to fall.
The only light that reached you was what slipped through the joins of the curtains but it was enough to see the paddocks beyond the grassy lawn. This late in the year the horses that usually grazed the paddocks would be holding up in the stables, away from the morning frosts that occurred daily, but you could still hear their neighs in the distance.
“Still not a fan of Bublé?”
You smiled to the sky as a pair of cold hands settled on your waist and warm lips found the delicate spot behind your ear.
“If he hasn’t grown on me by now, I don’t think he ever will.” You turned to face Lando and linked your arms around his neck. “Merry Christmas, my love.”
“Merry Christmas, baby.” His body started to sway, taking you with him as he hummed the stupid song in your ear, laughing when you narrowed your eyes at him. “What? All I want for Christmas is you.”
Your gaze softened and you smiled again as you tucked your head into his chest and buried your hands in his jacket to try steal some warmth. “Are you cold, love?” he asked, looking back at the warm house where all the log fires were lit.
“No, I’m not ready to go back yet,” you admitted as you cradled his cheek in your hand and guided his attention back to you. “Just a few more minutes together.”
He nodded before giving you a soft kiss and pulling away to shrug his wool suit jacket off and drape it over your shoulders. “Can’t have my girl getting sick for Christmas.”
Tumblr media
One Year Earlier “I don’t buy it,” Flo muttered over her flute of champagne as she sat to your left at the dining table, waiting for dinner to be served.
“Buy what?” you asked as your attention was pulled away from Max on your right, and the pictures of the new simulator he had just finished setting up in his room.
“Them.” You followed her nod across the room to find Lando on the couch in front of the roaring log fire, his girlfriend sat on his lap as if there weren’t two other cushions available beside him. “There’s no chemistry.”
“Eh,” you shrugged as you grabbed your glass that Max had refilled for you, “since when do you need chemistry if you’re a model or whatever?”
“You almost sound jealous,” he teased quietly, wary of Flo on the other side.
“Am not,” you bit back a little too harshly, only making him chuckle more and take a sip of his beer before he said anything else.
“Dinner will be a little late, I’m afraid,” Cisca announced with a sigh, muttering about the gravy catastrophe. “Adam, honey, turn the music up for a bit.”
“If you aren’t hung up on him, then come have a dance with me,” Max dared as Oliver and his pregnant wife joined Flo’s aunt and uncle dancing in front of the hearth, beneath the twinkling fairy lights. He wiggled his fingers as he waited for you and with a sigh you placed your hand in his and rose from your place setting.
Flo grinned as you passed by, poking you in the ribs with a laugh and giving you the thumbs up - but Max was only a friend. He could only be a friend because the person you actually pined for was his best friend.
“I know,” he whispered in your ear as one hand rested on your waist and your feet followed his lead.
“Know what?” you asked innocently, but he had caught your eyes drifting to the couch as you circled your way around the room.
“I won’t say anything, I just thought you might want to talk to someone. God knows you can’t talk to Flo about it, she would smother him while he slept,” Max joked. “And I kind of like having my best friend.” His eyes looked at the couple before he sighed. “Most of the time at least.”
You weren’t the only one vying for his attention anymore since he got a girlfriend. “You’ve been drinking too much, Fewtrell. You’re seeing things with your beer goggles on, I have no interest in Lando.”
“Is that why he hasn’t stopped staring at you?” Your head snapped around but Lando’s attention was firmly on Luisa and the very deep kiss they were openly sharing. “Totally not interested in him, huh,” he chuckled as he tightened his hold on you when you tried to pull away. “I’m sorry, it sucks, wanting what you can’t have.”
“There are worse things,” you muttered under your breath but he heard and curled an eyebrow in question. “Wanting what you can’t have right in front of you.”
He had no response but a sad smile as the song changed and Michael Bublé’s Cold December Night crooned over the speakers.
“The twinkling of the lights, The sound of carols fill the household, Old saint Nick has taken flight, With a heart on board so please be careful, Each year I ask for many different things, But now I know what my heart wants you to bring.”
“I fucking hate Bublé,” you sniffed as you pulled away from Max’s arms. “I’m just going to get some fresh air.”
“It’s bloody snowing out there,” he objected as he followed you to the backdoor. “You’re going to be sick for Christmas.”
Tumblr media
The dinner bell rang out and you sighed as it shattered the bubble you had found yourself in and knew you would have to release Lando from your arms.
“Come to my room tonight,” you whispered against his lips before they shared one last kiss. ‘Your room’ was actually one of the guest rooms down the hall but you had spent so much time in it over the years that it was only ever referred to as yours now. It was so much yours that Cisca had even asked you for your opinion in the wallpaper when she renovated the house.
“Don’t have to tell me twice, baby,” he said with a smirk as he opened the backdoor for you. You reluctantly removed his jacket and missed the scent more than the warmth as you passed it back. Lando pulled it back on and dipped his head to steal one final kiss before stepping inside with a warning over his shoulder, “No dancing with Max this year.”
“It’s your turn to be jealous this year,” you said as you blew a kiss to him along the narrow corridor.
He paused and cast his arm out, planting his palm on the wall and blocking you from rejoining the party. “What makes you think I wasn’t jealous last year?”
“Maybe it was the tongue down Luisa’s throat, or the hand up her skirt?”
You tried to duck under his arm but he caught you around the waist and used his body to cage you against the wall. “I had to do something to distract myself,” he admitted lowly in your ear, hiding his face from your disbelieving eyes. “You were all I could think about, you and that sexy little dress.” You tilted your head back as you felt his lips on your neck as he continued his confession. “If I didn’t do something I would have gone crazy watching him hold you when I couldn’t.”
His kiss set your body on fire and you combed your fingers through his hair tugging the strands so you could capture his lips.
“What the fuck!”
Both of your heads snapped towards the outburst and your stomach dropped as you saw Flo standing at the end of the hall. Her arms were limp at her side, the blank look of shock bleeding into betrayal as her head started to shake before she turned away.
Your body reacted before your brain could, pushing Lando away as you chased after her despite his call to let her go. You couldn’t let that happen, she had always been a worrier and the longer she stewed on something the worse it got in her mind. You had to talk to her.
You raced up the stairs, apologising to Adam as you passed him in the hurry, the confusion of catching his daughter’s rush to escape clear on his face. Her door was shut and you tested the handle to find it was locked and your head thumped against the wood with defeat.
“Please, Flo, let me in,” you begged her. A quick no resounding from inside. Turning around, you took a seat on the floor and rested your back to the door. “I’m going to stay right here until you open the door.”
“You’re going to be there a very long time.”
You sat there in silence for a few minutes wondering where to begin, how to explain what happened, why, how long. Finally you decided on a simple apology. “I’m sorry, Flo. We didn’t intend to fall in love, didn’t intend on anything happening. I fought the feelings for years, because I knew what it meant to you.”
“Still didn’t stop you though, did it?” She spat, her voice closer than you expected. “I had one rule. One!”
Your make up was certainly ruined as tears spilled forth, eyeliner and mascara stealing down your cheeks. “I know.”
“They say they don’t have favourites but mum and dad have always put him first. They missed my events to go to his races,” she sobbed, a sense of déjà vu filling you as she retold the history you had consoled her through years ago. She had always felt second place to Lando. “I thought you would always be my best friend.”
Your gut wrenched as you realised what she was feeling. She thought you were choosing him over her - like there had to be an ultimatum. “I still am,” you promised, shaking the door handle again. “Please, unlock the door.” She made no move to turn the key.
“Do you remember when you got Summer and I thought you were going to forget all about me?” you asked, remembering the day the pony arrived at the house and Flo had been so excited she had run off to the stables without you. “You told me I was always going to be your best friend, from cradle to grave. She was your horse, and you could love us both, right?”
The door tugged open and you fell back, sprawled on the floor as she stood with her arms crossed. “Are you calling my brother a horse?”
“Depends, would it make you feel better?”
She rolled her eyes and offered a hand to pull you to your feet. “I don’t know yet, I’m too pissed off at you.”
“Fair enough.”
“Hey, you guys okay?” Lando asked as he jogged to the top of the stairs, his tie and jacket missing.
You screwed your eyes shut at the timing and pinched the bridge off your nose as you asked, “Can we just have a few minutes?”
He turned twice first to head back down the stairs before he changed his mind and went to his room. “You said I had changed,” he muttered to Flo as he stood in his doorway and held the door knob. “You said I looked happier than ever.”
“I’m going to vomit if you tell me she’s the reason.”
“Sorry.”
“For what? Stealing my best friend?”
You stepped into her line of vision and waved a hand behind your back hoping Lando would get the hint. “He hasn’t stolen me, Flo. Cradle to grave.” You held up your pinky and held your breath as she stared at the age old promise you had made. “I should have told you how I felt about him, but you can be really scary and I was a coward. It was still a shitty thing to do.”
“Really shitty.”
“I know.”
“I can’t believe it was you,” she said with a shake of her head. “I knew there had to be a girl. This is annoying, more than anything, because he’s not such a muppet anymore, but knowing it’s from you - I don’t know if that’s better or worse.”
“Surely being happy is what matters most, not the who or why.”
She fell silent and her eyes fell to the door that he had quietly shut. “What happens if he breaks your heart?”
You hoped it never came to that but you couldn’t see the future so you shrugged. “Then I will cry on my best friend’s shoulder like I always have.”
Her shoulders bounced once with a laugh before she caught herself and tried to appear nonchalant. “I suppose I would offer to key their car.”
“And I would say it isn’t worth it.” You reached for her hand and she let you hold it as you gave it a squeeze. “But…if he doesn’t then I might not just be your best friend, might be your sister in law too someday.”
“Too soon,” she said with a scrunch of her nose as she pulled her hand away and went to Lando’s door. “Hurt her and I’ll key your new car, noob.”
The door swung open and Lando leaned against the jamb. “You don’t have to worry, sis.”
“I love her more than you.”
Lando snorted, a sound so similar to Flo’s, and he shook his head. “It’s not a competition, you muppet.”
She appeared almost pleased, though also surprised as she nodded and stepped away, “good answer.”
“But,” Lando smirked and you sighed inwardly, “if it was I would win.”
Flo oddly didn’t respond as she started to make her way back to dinner, pausing only as she reached the stairs before looking back. “By the way, I’m dating Max.”
“What? No fucking way, I gonna kill him,” Lando growled as he took a step towards her before her head fell back with laughter.
“Of course I'm not, Lando, but now you know how it feels.”
Her laugh echoed down the hall as she descended the staircase and left the two of you alone. Facing Lando, you stared at him wondering if anything had changed but the moment of uncertainty was gone when he pulled you into his arms and kissed you without fear of being caught.
“I’m taking you to dinner tomorrow, it’s all I’ve wanted to do for so long,” he laughed as he pressed his forehead to yours and recovered from the almost blessing you had received from Flo. “We don’t have to hide anymore.”
“Tomorrow's Christmas,” you said with a smile.
“Shit, okay then, the next day. Hey!” He grinned as he pointed downstairs, his head bobbing along to the song that was playing again on the playlist. “Christmas came early for me,” he said as he dragged you to his bedroom and closed the door, silencing Bublé as he sang, ‘All I want for Christmas is you’.
“We are going to miss dinner,” you warned as he sat on his bed and pulled you onto his lap.
“There’s always plenty of leftovers, plus, what I want isn’t on the menu downstairs,” he teased as his hands brushed beneath your dress.
“Bob, what are you up to-oh!” Max covered his eyes as he busted into the room. “Bro, everyone is waiting for you two. Time and place, people.”
You stood up and pulled the dress back into place, sending Lando a look that said ‘I told you so’ before tapping Max on the shoulder as you passed him. “You can look now.”
“I think the damage is already done, the image is seared on my retina,” he said with a dramatic shake. “So you two finally…”
“Got caught,” Lando said with a chuckle, slipping his hand in yours as the three of you headed to the dining room. “No more hiding.”
Max grinned and clapped Lando on the shoulder. “About time!”
“Wait, you knew?”
“Uh…I have been in the middle of this situation for like five years. Of course I knew. I think I knew before the two of you knew.”
You frowned at the news and came to a stop halfway to the landing. “So last year?”
“Was my trying to get you two to see what was clearly right in front of you the whole bloody time. You’re welcome for that, you know. And I expect to be thanked as the best friend and wingman one can ask for in our next stream. Now can we please go and eat, I’m starving!”
Lando looked at you with a different look of hunger in his eyes as he kissed your hand. “Me too.”

Leah, London Colney, “I may aswell just retire”
legacy II l.williamson
"lee! baby we've gotta go in five have you packed her bag?" you yelled out from your daughters bedroom, sat on the bed with the three year old on your lap as you quickly braided her hair so it would be out of her face all day.
“i have snacks, her blanket, her mini ball, her teddy, her inhaler, her water bottle, her headphones, her beanie, her rain jacket, a change of clothes and a story book.” leah recounted as she burst into the room with the bright red backpack in hand.
"gunner!" mila chirped as you tied off the second braid and your wife looked like she could have exploded with joy. "yes you are, mummys little future gunner." leah cooed, tickling her stomach as you rolled your eyes.
"she means the dinosaur einstein." you pointed to the bright green mascot sat on the desk as leah turned.
"you are so mean to me when we have early morning training darling, i've half a mind to tell jonas you aren't allowed to train until eleven." leah sighed with a shake of her head as you stood and hoisted mila onto your hip.
"you love it mrs williamson." you grinned, pecking her lips and breezing past as she followed suit with the backpack in hand. "maybe only a little mrs williamson." you stiffened as her hand smacked against your ass.
"leah! the baby." you hissed in warning, your daughter in a critical parrot phase as you'd both lovingly dubbed it, repeating nearly everything and anything she watched either of you do or say.
and with your wifes potty mouth and tendency to gossip it had gotten the pair of you into hot water more than once in the last few weeks.
like just yesterday when leahs mum had tried to put her down for a nap and was promptly told to fuck off, something mila had heard leah shout at the tv while watching a premier league game when you both thought she was asleep in bed, not hovering by the doorway with eager little ears.
"im not a baby!" mila protested with a scowl that was scarily similar to the blonde standing behind her. "yes you are, you could be forty and you'll still be my baby." leah shrugged as your daughter huffed and you cleared your throat.
"our baby." leah corrected with a charming smile as you hummed, taking your daughters backpack out of her hand and grabbing the car keys as leah made sure to take both of your gym bags as the three of you headed out.
"shark song!" mila cheered as you buckled her into her car seat and leah slipped into the drivers side after tossing all the bags in the back. "bubba isn't there any other song you'd like?" leah asked hopefully with a pained winced as you closed your door and sat in your own seat.
"shark song! shark song! shark song!" the three year old chanted pumping her fists and kicking her feet out as if she'd just won the world cup and you grinned, phone connecting and clicking play on baby shark as leah groaned.
"i'm going to murder kyra." leah stated bluntly toward the culprit behind milas obsession with the overtly catchy kids tune, shifting the car into reverse and backing out of the driveway as you leaned across the console and kissed her cheek.
"just look how happy it makes her baby." you chuckled nodding behind you as leah glanced to your daughter who was wiggling and dancing in her seat, screaming along to the lyrics.
"she's lucky she's cute." leah shook her head, smile tugging at her lips as she faced forward and sped onto the main road.
"well she gets that from you."
~
"leah! there is no way she's going to eat all that." your eyes widened in disbelief as the blonde placed down your daughters breakfast plate in front of you before sitting on your other side with her own.
"mama i'm a growing girl!" mila protested, echoing leahs exact words from dinner last night as you shot your wife a filthy look who wasted no time pecking your lips apologetically.
"me!" mila craned her head back as leah grinned, attacking the three year olds face with kisses as everyone at the table visibly melted at the sound of her giggles echoing around the room.
"hey mila can aunty beffy have some bacon pretty please?" beth asked with a smile from across the table. "good luck." leah mumbled with a shake of her head. "no! my bacon." mila frowned and covered her plate protectively.
"well if there was ever any doubt she's leahs, thats squashed it." kim shrugged as your wife grinned and pushed her playfully. "but mila im so hungry! i might fall off my chair from starvation." beth groaned dramatically, collapsing into her girlfriend who looked down at her unamused.
"didn't ask don't care." mila chirped your own words from dinner last night as leah choked on her eggs and kim whacked her on the back. "that ones on you!" your wife warned as you blushed, mumbling a gentle reminder to your daughter about manners.
"hey mila can aunty wally have a piece of bacon please?" lia asked from your other side as mila nodded, pushing her plate closer and wiggling herself up from your lap as you hurried to steady her as she stood on your knees.
"mila!" beth gasped in betrayal, lia scooting her chair back as your daughter clambered over to sit with her now instead, seemingly more than happy to share her breakfast with her godmother who gave the blonde across the table a victorious smirk as she bit down on a piece of bacon.
~
"i play now?" you looked down with a smile as a tiny body clung onto your leg, mila recognizing the sound of the whistle to mean she was now able to run around the pitch freely with her aunties as training was over.
"you play now. who do you wanna kick with today bubba?" you squatted down and brushed a few loose strands of hair out of her face. "aunty lessi!" your daughter held her arms up at your best friend whose face lit up.
"now how could i ever say no to you?" the blonde picked her up right away before tossing her in the air and catching her, pulling a face and making mila giggle. "careful less." you warned sternly, the girl waving you off as she grabbed a ball.
"whose on the other team?" alessia whispered to your daughter as a few of the girls lined up, mila frowning as she looked them over. "lots, steffy, mummy and kimmy!" mila decided, simply naming all four girls who lined up making everyone grin.
"okay. remember what we practiced at our sleepover?" alessia placed mila down and squatted to her level, hands on her shoulders as your daughter nodded. "no mercy!" mila yelled making a few of the girls snicker.
"that was aunty mary, not me." alessia teased, pulling down mila's beanie over her eyes as she whined and quickly fixed it as her ball was placed by her feet. "okay. go!" alessia clapped, jogging beside her as your daughter gave it a kick.
one by one she kicked past her defenders, the girls all falling dramatically to the ground making her giggle as alessia continued to coach her forward, now only leah standing in the way of the goal.
"leah!" you called out in warning, recognizing your wifes competitive drive ran deep and she had no problem teaching your daughter 'how to lose gracefully' despite the fact it wasn't a lesson you'd say leah actually knew herself.
though if the blonde defender heard you she didn't acknowledge it, smirk on her face as the girls all cheered for mila who had an adorably concentrated frown on her features now.
"shoot shoot shoot!" alessia encouraged with a clap, mila kicking the ball as hard as she could and you held your breath knowing it had been a long morning and with your daughter due for a nap soon it wouldn't take much to set her off if leah chose not to let her have this goal.
though you breathed a sigh of relief as the ball rolled through your wifes legs and she fell to the ground with a dramatic cry, a soft smile on your face as mila jumped on top of her with a cheer.
"goaaaalll!" alessia cupped her hands over her mouth and cheered, scooping the tiny blonde up and hoisting her on her shoulders, sprinting around on a victory lap and assuring she held on very tightly.
you grabbed a bottle of water and made your way over toward leah who sat up, accepting your hand as you helped her up and were quickly drawn into her hold.
"does it still hurt she's following in my footsteps and not yours?" you teased, squealing as leahs cold hands crept up your top and she playfully bit your neck.
"with a goal like that under her belt i may as well just retire." leah sighed, arms wound around your neck as she gently swayed the two of you side to side, both of you watching on fondly as your daughter raced around with her auties.
"shit its past her nap time isn't it?" leah realised, training having had a delayed start due to a sprinkler malfunction as you nodded and your wife groaned, seeing mila was still very much so wide awake which would throw her off her regular schedule.
"oh she's going to be a nightmare to get down tonight."

Shot Through The Heart IV
Alexia Putellas x Archer!Reader
Summary: Your last final
Tumblr media
You smiled at your girls. At nearly ten years old, they were growing like weeds.
Alexia had hung up her boots nearly six months ago and now it was your turn. It was your last world championship ever. It had been a good few years for you but you knew it was time to retire.
Your medals were getting a bit cluttered and Alexia was adamant that you didn't need as many bows as you had.
You knew it was time.
Your girls were forging their own paths. Maya loved football like Alexia loved football and Elena had scratched herself on one of your arrows once and had been hooked ever since.
It was time to move away from your sport and focus on your daughters.
Alexia had moved on to coaching at Barca and you had your own coaching planned. You'd received offers from your old team in Korea but had benched the idea with a simple 'maybe in a few years' as you wanted to focus on your girls first.
You rolled your shoulders as Alexia stood behind you, adjusting your shoulder brace.
"Not too tight?" She asked.
"It's good," You confirmed," I'm ready."
Alexia smiled at you fondly, cupping your cheek. "Girls!" She called," Your mum is about to head out! Wish her luck!"
Elena barrelled into you quickly, her arms moving to hug you tight. "You need to win!" She said," You have to win!"
"I'll try my best," You laughed," But you and your sister have got to be super quiet during the shots, alright? Do you remember why?"
"Because it's respectful."
"It's boring," Maya muttered as she approached. She usually had football practice today but Alexia had taken her out of it because today was the last final of your life. Maya hadn't really taken it well, perhaps not really understanding how important this was.
"Maya," Alexia said in warning," Enough."
Your girls may not have been teenagers yet but Maya certainly acted like one.
"I'm just saying!"
"This is your mum's last tournament ever," Alexia chided," And you will support her in it because we are a family. How would you like it if me and your mum didn't come to your games? Huh?"
"Sorry, mum." Maya moved to give you a hug and you held her nice and tight, opening your arms to welcome Elena back in as well.
"Good luck," Alexia said as you moved to head out, shouldering your bow as the tournament staff waited outside for you," Not that you'll need it."
"I'll take it anyway," You said, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
Unlike football games, crowds at archery tournaments sat in silence. The target sat seventy metres away from you and you closed your eyes briefly to focus on the wind. It was barely there and you smiled. If there was one thing you hated, it was shooting in the wind.
You shook hands with your opponent, smiling at her in recognition. You used to play on the same team when you played in Korea. She was a few years younger than you so you never really interacted but it was nice to see her.
You weren't going to let her win though.
Archery had always been easy for you. It was repetitive and calming.
Notch.
Draw.
Release.
Repeat.
You matched it to your breathing, one eye closing to line up your shot. You drew on the inhale and released on the exhale.
Ten.
Ten.
Ten.
Ten.
Your opponent was nearly as good as you but there was a reason you had been world number one for years.
You rarely missed the ten.
Sometimes it wasn't a proper bullseye but you knew how to aim your shots so there was another space in the circle for the rest of your arrows.
Your opponent consistently hit tens too but dotted inside her shots were a few nines and a disastrous six in her last set that let you know you had cinched the victory.
But, still, this was going to be your last competitive shot.
You made sure to make it memorable.
A bullseye.
You smiled, shaking her hand and the rest of her team's before looking up at the stands to see your wife and children. Elena looked ecstatic. You weren't surprised. She'd loved coming to practice with you ever since she could walk.
Maya was equally excited, jumping up and down even though her heart was firmly settled on football.
Alexia blew you a kiss as you began to get ushered away for the medal ceremony.
You accepted it happily, pretending to bite it for the cameras before excusing yourself as soon as you could.
"I'm so proud of you, amor!" Alexia came out of nowhere. She leapt into your arms and you had to drop your bow to catch her.
You spun her around with a laugh that got muffled against her lips against yours.
"Did you enjoy the match, girls?" You were talking to your children but didn't look away from Alexia, who was pressing soft, fluttering kisses all over your face.
"You're so cool, mum!" Elena said," Can you teach me how to shoot like that?"
"Let's wait until you're strong enough to draw a proper bow, Elena, but after that, definitely."
"Maya?" Alexia said, still refusing to leave your arms," What about you? Do you have something to say?"
Maya huffed like a moody teenager. "I guess archery isn't as boring as I thought."
You laughed. "Thanks, kid. High praise."
She puffed out her cheeks. "You know what I mean."
"I do." You hefted Alexia up higher and grinned. "Come on, you lot. I'm starving."

“on the down low”
harry james potter x f!weasley!reader
no voldemort au
summary: you and harry have been hiding your relationship from your family for four months, but when he stays over for the holidays, they start to uncover the truth, one by one.
warnings: idk how long this is but it feels long, kissing, fluff, CHRISTMAS
me pretending voldemort doesn’t exist again for the sake of plot convenience and my own happiness
Tumblr media
Godric, you hadn’t realized how hard it would be to pretend over the holiday. At first, it seemed like a dream come true. Harry staying at the burrow for Christmas meant you’d be able see him whenever you wanted, but you couldn’t exactly do what you wanted.
During the day, you and Harry had to act indifferent to each other, like you hadn’t been together since the end of the summer.
It was different than it was at Hogwarts, where nobody suspected a seventh year to go for her brother’s best friend, who was a year younger. That excluded Hermione, of course, who was just too damn smart to not figure you out.
You hadn’t realized how easy it was to sneak around in a giant castle with a multitude of empty classrooms and an invisibility cloak at your disposal compared to your house of nine other people where the walls were thin and the furniture was old, regardless of proximity between you.
You kicked Harry’s foot under the dinner table. He looked up from his plate and stared at you, bewildered. You nodded to your mother who had just asked him a question he clearly hadn’t heard.
She looked at him expectantly, waiting for his response. “Sorry?” He took his gaze away from you and onto Molly.
“Harry, I asked you if you’ve gotten yourself a girlfriend this year?” she clarified.
Harry spluttered, glancing at you quickly before looking back at her. He cleared his throat. “No, I haven’t.”
Your mother tutted. “A shame, really. Let’s hope you don’t end up like Charlie. Such a handsome boy, and yet, he can’t find a nice woman to settle down with,” she sighed and turned her attention to your older brother, who was rolling his eyes.
Harry looked relieved that he was no longer the one being questioned. “Mum, stop it. I’m only 22. I’m too young to settle down. Bill’s older and he’s not married.”
Bill stopped mid bite to gesture violently at Charlie to cut it out, but Molly paid him no mind.
“Spend your whole life with dragons, see if I care,” she responded vehemently. “Let’s hope your sister doesn’t go off with you to Romania when she graduates.”
Now it was your turn to roll your eyes as you became your mother’s new subject of torture. It was true, you were looking into a career with dragons, but it was unlikely you’d end up on the same reserve as your brother.
“You know, darling, you ought to find a nice boy. It would do you well.”
You grimaced. “And here we are, back to your favorite topic.”
“Not mine,” Fred interjected.
“Certainly not,” George added. “She’s not allowed to date.”
“Oh, she’s not, is she?” Ginny said, giving you a seemingly knowing look. Merlin, you could only hope she knew nothing.
“No, and neither are you, Gin,” Fred said swiftly.
“We’ll that’s unfortunate,” Ginny looked at you smugly. “Because I think our sister has had her eye on someone.”
Harry turned paler than normal, looking at you in alarm, his face saying, ‘Did you tell her?’ Hermione, to his side, gave you a similar look.
Your face heated under the eyes of your entire family. You shot Ginny a glare before deciding to get her back. “That’s what you think, but I know you bloody well fancy Dean Thomas.”
The focus shifted from you to Ginny. “Dean Thomas?” said Ron, staring at your sister in astonishment.
“Who’s Dean Thomas?” your mother asked cheekily.
Ginny groaned, hiding her red face in her hands. “I’m excusing myself. Goodnight, family.”
She stood up from the crowded table and basically threw her plate into the sink before running upstairs.
“Seriously, who’s Dean Thomas?” your mum asked for the second time.
“A boy in Ron’s year,” you explained briefly. “He’s perfectly decent,” you elaborated further, once you realized your family’s eyes were unrelenting.
“Well, who does she think you fancy?” Bill said, grinning. Why did the first thing he contributed during this conversation have to target you? Why couldn’t it have been revenge on Charlie?
“How should I know? I haven’t told her anything that would make her think I was interested in anyone.” That was a lie. You did tell her something.
“Are you?” Bill followed up.
“That’s really none of your business,” you said, standing up from the table and clearing your plate.
“As long as it’s not someone in our year, that’s what I say.” Ron nudged Harry, looking at his friend who nodded weakly.
You began to walk up the stairs, but not before shooting Harry a look that pleaded him to come upstairs when he could get away. Because of your circumstances, you’d gotten very good at giving each other wordless glances like these.
A little while later, a pajama clad Harry entered your room, checking the hall for anyone before closing the door behind him.
“Ron thinks Im in the bathroom. Did you tell Ginny about us?” he said hurriedly.
“Of course not,” you denied. “I may have given her a hint though.”
Harry’s eyes widened. “What?”
“I didn’t mean to! She was talking about Dean, and asked me if I liked anybody, and who am I to lie, so I said yes.”
“Um,” Harry interjected. “One problem with that is that we lie about our relationship every day. You are a liar.”
“Don’t interrupt me, Harry. Anyway, she asked me who and I wouldn’t tell her, so she started listing names. She asked me what I thought of you, and I let it slip that I thought you were cute,” you said sheepishly, toying with a button on his shirt. “I think I scared her off with the Dean thing, we should be in the clear.”
Harry only grinned. “You think I’m cute?”
“Oh shut up, would you?” you said, pushing his chest away from yours.
“Sure.” He pulled you back by the waist, his hands resting on your hips as he ducked down to kiss you. He tasted like toothpaste, but you really didn’t mind it.
He was about to pull away after a moment, but you tangled your fingers in his hair, keeping his mouth attached to yours.
“I’ve missed you all day,” Harry murmured against your lips.
“Godric, me too.” You clung onto him like you knew it wouldn’t last, and it didn’t. Ron called out to Harry from somewhere in the hallway, and Harry pulled away from you. His glasses were fogged up and he was cursing Ron.
When the lenses cleared, he leaned down to press another chaste kiss to your lips. “I’ll see you in the morning,” he whispered, exiting the room quietly.
You slumped onto your bed, staring at the open door with a forlorn look on your face. Ginny suddenly appeared in the doorway, her mouth hanging open and her hand pointing to the end of the hall, then to where you sat.
“What- what have I just witnessed? Why? This changes life as we know it. You! And Harry! You-“
You hurried to cut her off, standing from the bed and practically sprinting to the door to cover her mouth. “You be quiet now,” you warned, looking both ways in the hall and shoving Ginny inside your room.
“Why did I see Harry leaving this room looking like he’s got something to hide?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Listen, lady, you didn’t see anything, because nothing happened,” you said, pointing a finger at her.
“I never said anything happened, I just said he had something to hide. And guess what? I know he has something to hide, because I know you like him,” she retaliated, pointing her finger right back.
“Who? Me? Like Harry? Psssshhh… you’ve got the wrong girl. That doesn’t sound anything like me.”
Ginny folded her arms over her chest. “Oh really? Well, does this sound like you? Oh, Ginny, Harry’s just so cute! I wish he would like me back because, well, I just love him so much!” She batted her eyelashes, imitating a version of you that didn’t exist.
“Actually, Gin, that sounds nothing like me, so you can just forget anything that you think you saw,” you retorted.
“I don’t think I will forget. I think I’ll just tell everyone that you’re sneaking around with Harry. I didn’t miss the look he gave you at dinner either! So I can tell everyone, or you can quit lying and just give me all the details.”
She did have a way of getting you to cave. Really, it was just tactful manipulation.
“Alright fine, but if you tell anyone, you’re dead. Well, you can tell Hermione. She already knows.”
Ginny gasped, very offended. “You told her before your own sister?”
“I did not! She’s too smart for her own good. Anyways, sit down.”
Then, you told Ginny everything. It felt actually good to be able to talk about your relationship to someone other than Hermione, especially to your only sister, who you were honestly very grateful for.
You told her about how he kissed you a week before you left for school, solidifying the relationship you were having throughout the summer holiday. You told her about how he was funny and such a gentlemen. You even told her about how you’d been sneaking off since school started, and what you’d been doing.
Once Ginny was fully satisfied with the information and you were relatively sure she wouldn’t squawk to any of your brothers, she bid you goodnight and went to bed.
The following morning, Christmas Eve morning, you had risen later than usual. “Good morning, family,” you greeted, entering the kitchen and heading straight for the kettle.
“Morning,” Ginny said from the table. “I trust you slept well. I expect you feel loads lighter now.”
“Oh yeah, much lighter,” you grinned back.
“What are you two on about?” Bill said from his seat across from Ginny.
“Oh, nothing. Our sister just shared some interesting things with me last night,” she hummed.
You saw Harry’s head perk up from the couch, where he was laying. Ron was sprawled on the floor below.
“Gin, shut up,” you warned quietly.
“I’m not even sure I want to know,” Bill said.
“Oh, you’d be delighted, I’m sure. But, alas, I’ve been sworn to secrecy,” Ginny sighed.
“Then why even bring it up, you idiot?” you said as you sat down next to her, carefully eyeing a nervous looking Harry.
Bill followed your gaze and whistled lowly. You almost had a heart attack. “I see. That is very interesting.”
You turned to face your sister. “Look what you’ve done now. Why not just shout it from the rooftops?” you scolded.
“I didn’t say anything!” she defended.
“She’s right, you gave yourself away,” Bill confirmed, leaning in to whisper, “You’re lucky Ron’s pretty clueless on the floor over there.”
Your face burned. “Just don’t tell anybody.”
“Now why would I do that? It’s a whole lot more fun if you do it yourself.” Bill grinned, leaving you and Ginny at the table.
You dropped your head into your arms.
Later, you and Harry sat in the yard, leaning against a tree. You were on the side that couldn’t be seen from your siblings’ makeshift quidditch game across the yard.
It was the nicest day of break so far, not too cold, but not necessarily warm either. There was a dusting of snow on the ground, which delighted you.
You were lying in Harry’s lap, gazing up at him as he mindlessly played with your hair. “I can’t believe you told Ginny,” he said for the tenth time since breakfast.
You rolled your eyes and sat up. “I already told you, she was nagging me. Plus, I can’t really talk to Hermione about this sort of thing. She’s hung up on Ron. I keep telling her Lavender was just a phase because of some stupid love potion infused chocolate, but she usually just goes glum and ignores me.”
“You could just stop talking about us,” he suggested, shrugging his shoulders.
“You wouldn’t understand,” you said, reaching forward to fiddle with the zipper on his jacket.
“Why? Am I too charming and handsome for you to shut up about?” He grinned, taking hold of your hand and pressing it to his chest.
“Something like that.” You smiled, but quickly stopped when you saw the smug look on his face. “Don’t let that get to your head, Potter.”
“I won’t,” he said, leaning in to kiss your lips. His free hand came up to frame your face, and you placed yours on his thigh. You had half a mind to pull away, but only enough to see his face.
“Harry, we can’t do this out here. My siblings are right over there. Someone could see us,” you said softly, staring up at his bright green eyes.
“Honey, if you keep looking at me like that, I’m not gonna care,” he said, breath heavy as he looked at you adoringly. Your stomach did flips and you instantly forgot about reasons to hold yourself back.
You surged forward, kissing him hard on the mouth. You knew you wouldn’t get the chance to do so until well after dinner, so you took advantage of your siblings being distracted. He responded enthusiastically, wrapping an arm around your waist, tugging you closer.
“Woah, looks like I’ve caught more than just the snitch!”
You sprang apart, wiping your mouth as you looked up to see one of your grinning brothers, hovering above the tree on a broomstick holding a little golden sphere.
“Charlie! This isn’t what it looks like,” you managed, pushing yourself as far away from Harry as possible.
“Really, because it looks like you’ve been snogging his face off,” Charlie said, looking pleased with himself.
Harry burned bright red, refusing to make eye contact with either of you.
“Charlie, what’s taking you so long?” you heard Ron call from the other side of the yard.
“I’ll keep this a secret, but only because I love you, little sister. And because it’s funnier this way.” Charlie grinned again and turned on his broom to speed back to the group.
You and Harry left for the house before anyone else did, completely ignoring Hermione on the couch, her nose deep in a thick book, as you rushed upstairs.
Once you were sure you were alone, you stopped Harry in the middle of the hallway. “Okay, that was the last time. No more doing that in the open.”
“Sorry, got carried away. At least it wasn’t Ron who saw us.” Harry shuttered, not even wanting to think about what his reaction would be.
“Shake it off, Harry. Just three, only three of them know. There’s like a bajillion others that don’t,” you rationalized. “Look, we just need to get through this holiday without anyone else finding out that we’re together. I think we can do that.”
“You lied to mother?” A stiff voice came from down the hallway. Shit. You forgot Percy was still in the house, holed up in his room doing his Ministry work.
Harry’s eyes widened as he shook his head at you, refusing to turn around.
“You’re seeing someone and you lied about it?” Percy frowned. “Well, I’ll have to tell her.”
“No, you won’t have to tell her. Don’t tell her. Please,” you practically begged.
Percy didn’t look convinced. His steely gaze wouldn’t let up. “I won’t if you promise me to tell her.”
“I promise, Perce, just let me do it when I’m ready,” you said, less of a real promise and more of a strategy to get him to go back into his room. You were thanking God when he nodded curtly and did just that.
“Well, would you look at the impeccable timing on that,” Harry said sarcastically.
You grimaced. “Dinner’ll be a real treat tonight.”
Dinner was not a treat. It was delicious, of course, courtesy of your mother. But it was quite tense, at least for you and Harry.
Bill kept shooting you knowing glances from across the table, looking back and forth between you and Harry, who made the seemingly unconscious choice to sit beside you.
Charlie couldn’t even look at you without snickering to himself, prompting your mum to start questioning him on his odd behavior.
Percy was silently urging you to say something about it, pulling at his collar uncomfortably and staring at you, unrelenting.
Ginny was, thankfully, docile for the time being.
“Charlie, would you stop laughing at your sister? I don’t see what’s so funny about her,” Molly scolded, finally having quite enough of your brother’s behavior.
“Nothing’s funny,” he said with a hint of a smile.
Bill was looking at him with his eyes narrowed slightly. “What do you know?” he asked suspiciously.
“What do you know?” Charlie replied, just as skeptical.
“I think the better question is, what does dad know about muggles?” You laughed nervously, getting weird looks from Ron and the twins. “Come on, dad. Why don’t you tell us about your latest case?”
Your father looked up from his meal, looking surprised, for he had hardly been acknowledged since the start of dinner. “Oh, well, we had an odd couple in the other day. They were the sort who didn’t really look like they belonged together. So, anywho, they-“
“Hold on,” Ginny interjected. “How do you know they didn’t belong together? There are loads of couples who you might not think belong together, but actually do, so it’s best not to judge before you know the whole story.”
Your dad looked confused. “Um, I guess they just didn’t seem compatible, but I’m sure they belong together just fine, Gin, no need to worry about that.”
As he continued with his story about this couple and their illegally enchanted carpet, you turned to glare at Ginny.
She gave you a rather obvious look of annoyance, which gained the attention of Fred and George.
“Something’s going on here, Freddie,” said George, leaning to his right.
“Agreed,” said George, looking around the table.
You actually heard Harry gulp beside you. You put a hand on his knee, attempting to comfort him. This action made him choke on the sip of water he had taken.
“All right there, Harry?” Ron asked.
“Oh, yeah,” Harry coughed. “Just fine.”
Percy cleared his throat. “Maybe he has something to say.”
“Percy, don’t be rude,” your mother scolded. “The boy’s just choked.”
“Yeah, Percy, don’t know why you’d think he wants to say something,” Ginny said. “So, keep your mouth shut.”
None of the siblings who knew had known that others at the table were also aware, but they were each starting to connect the dots.
“Can I just have a nice Christmas Eve dinner with my family?” Molly slammed one hand on the table. “Enough of the fighting and the strange comments. Please, just be normal.”
Fred grinned. “I can’t imagine what’s abnormal about us.”
“Oh, me neither. But you, Freddie, are abnormal looking,” George followed.
The rest of the night after dinner was just as stressful. You and your siblings were sitting around the living room, with the exception of Percy, who, to your immense relief, had gone back to his room for work.
Fred and George decided it would be a good idea to play a game of truth or dare with the assistance of some veritaserum they nicked from Snape’s stores the day before holiday began.
Needless to say, you and Harry were not excited.
“Hermione,” Fred said. “Truth or dare?”
Hermione rolled her eyes as George made a gesture that suggested she should choose truth. “Dare,” she said.
“I dare you to go outside and kiss one of the gnomes.”
“A gnome, Fred? Really?” Ron scoffed.
“You’d rather she kissed you, would you?” George teased.
Ronsaid nothing, but his ears turned red, giving him away.
Hermione’s face turned a similar shade as she stood up from the armchair. “Fine, then.”
You all collectively gathered around the window and watched Hermione stalk outside and grab one of the ugly gnomes by its bald head. She made a disgusted face and gave the gnome a peck so fast that you barely saw it.
She came back inside and washed her mouth out in the sink before returning to the chair. “George,” she said coolly. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth, of course!” George said happily. “We’ve got to put our stolen goods to good use.”
“It was very wrong of you to take Professor Snape’s materials,” Hermione said, frowning. “Is it true that you were the ones who gave Ron amortentia spiked chocolates last month?”
“Yes,” George said easily.
Ron scoffed loudly. “You told me that wasn’t you! You said it was her! I was following Lavender Brown around for weeks because of those!”
“Well, we hadn’t meant for you to go for her. It was supposed to be someone else.” George winked at Hermione.
“We messed up the potion,” explained Fred.
George looked to you. “Truth or dare?” he asked.
“Truth,” you said mindlessly, thinking about Hermione and the gnome. You noticed the alarmed look Harry was giving you and realized your mistake. Damn gnome.
George grinned mischievously. “Do you really have a boyfriend?”
“Yes,” you said unwillingly.
A gasp from Ron could be heard from the other side of the room. Ginny and Hermione were looking rather nervous for you. On the contrary, Bill and Charlie were quite amused.
“Tell us, who is he?” Fred continued off of George.
“Harry Potter,” you admitted before slapping a hand across your mouth.
An even louder gasp could be heard from Ron that caused Charlie to burst out laughing. Fred and George were looking rather pleased with themselves. You supposed that was better than them pranking the life out of Harry for dating their sister, which you had expected to happen.
Harry sat on the couch with his hands clenched at his sides, looking at the floor as his whole face turned red.
“My sister, Harry? Really?” Ron said, his voice carrying a mixture of anger and betrayal.
“Yeah, well, I love her,” Harry said, fully dropping his head into his palms. He definitely hadn’t meant to say that to everyone in the room. “I hate this damn potion.”
“The heart wants what it wants, Freddie,” said George.
“It sure does, Georgie,” Fred said, clasping his hands together over his chest.
“Honestly, this is a Christmas miracle,” Hermione burst out. “I’ve been covering for you for months. Four, horrible, long months.”
“Four months?” Ron said, bewildered. “Hermione, you knew and you never told me?”
“Oh, please, Ronald. If you opened your eyes you would’ve seen what was going on,” Hermione said.
“Easy for you to say, you’re bloody brilliant. You could spot anything off. I love that about you,” Ron confessed.
Bill and Charlie were wheezing on the floor at this point.
“This is the gift that keeps on giving!” Fred exclaimed.
“I’m so happy we played this game,” George said through laughs.
Hermione stood, cheeks burning. “We should all go to bed. It’s Christmas tomorrow.” She went up the stairs quickly. Ron seemed to have forgotten all about you and Harry and followed her.
Your other four brothers slowly made their way upstairs, practically dying from laughter at your expense.
Ginny stood awkwardly, bidding you and Harry goodnight and leaving you alone in the room.
“That could’ve gone worse,” you said, finally making eye contact with Harry, who was still looking a little red.
“I, for one, didn’t fancy confessing my love for you to your whole family,” Harry said, scooting over to your spot on the couch.
“I did.” You grinned, leaning towards him. He rolled his eyes, but indulged you anyways, letting his lips touch yours.
“Merry Christmas, Harry,” you whispered against him. “I love you, too.”

Kyra Cooney Cross x reader
Tumblr media
plot: the reader throws an ugly Christmas sweater party for the Arsenal team to say goodbye to the 2023 season
warning: neck kisses, swearing, teasing and idk where this will take me
Tumblr media
"Leah Williamson that is not an ugly sweater" you pointed at the blonde "Yeah ya look too good" Jen pointed out "Define ugly" Leah shot back as everyone looked at Kyra who had a thick turtle neck that had a little reindeer physically popping out of her chest.
"hey this is my mums!"
The team laughed as you poured more cocktails that you made, ignoring the photos that Katie was taking "I'm not being in the photo dump Katie" you laughed "fine I'll put it on my story then" she huffed before finding her way to Caitlin who was sitting next to Steph and Kyra.
When Katie arrived with a smirk on her face Caitlin rolled her eyes. "What did you do?" she asked and Katie shrugged "Nothin" she said, her Irish accent thick.
"Where's your mistletoe earrings gone" Caitlin pointed out and Katie looked away "Around" she answered "So that's why you went to go get a cocktail and not come back with one" Steph pointed out and Katie rolled her eyes.
"Sorry if I just want to put a certain two people in the team out of their poor love life mystery and somehow get them under a mistletoe so they can realize they both have feelings for each other" she huffed before pointing her eyes at Kyra who crossed her head.
"She doesn't have feelings for me" Kyra whisper shouted, now blushing that the attention is on her.
"Well just so you know, the mistletoe is in the hallway where the Christmas decorations are" Katie told her before Steph brought up a new topic about Calvin.
You however were sitting with Beth, Jen, and Leah, Viv was also in the room but she was helping make a salad so her concentration was fully on the greens in front of her.
"What are you doing for the holiday y/n/n?" Jen asked as she sipped her drink "I think I'm gonna go see my brother and his family in Australia" you told her as she smiled "oh you should go see Kyra then, she's going back" Beth smiled as Leah and Jen shared a look.
Your heart started beating a little bit faster "Why would I go see Kyra?" you asked
"Cause ya like each other" Viv piped up with a shrug and you turned to her
"Go back to your salad"
"hey!" Beth playfully hit your shoulder with a smile and you all laughed "No but seriously she doesn't like me" you said and Leah perked up "but you like her" she said and you just took a sip out of your cocktail as the three silently cheered.
Viv placed the now-finished salad next to you. "I say do it" she shrugged and you looked at her in shock as she realised her mistake "not do it do it" she panicked before looking down
"I'm never giving advice again" she muttered and walked off, Beth following her with a laugh leaving you with Jen and Leah as you changed the subject "Dinners ready!".
Dinner was yummy and you somehow ended up sitting next to Kyra. "Dinners good" she smiled at you once you finished and you turned to her with a smile "thanks, uhm I hear your going to Australia for holidays" and she nodded "yeah seeing the family" "nice, I'm going to Australia too" you told her.
You swore you saw her eyes light up at the news but you shook it off maybe she was just excited to have a friend in Australia.
You were both facing your body towards each other, blocking everyone else off as you talked. It always felt like that when you two were together, rather it was on the field or in team bonding you always found yourselves together.
"Earth to y/n!" a voice piped up and it was Alessia.
You popped your head up quickly as if you had been caught in the act of something and Alessia laughed "some of us are going now so we'd like to say goodbye.
"Oh yeah sure" You stood up and walked to the door, Kyra silently wished you didn't, she missed the body heat that radiated off you as you talked.
You said goodbye to some girls that were carpooling together, more girls behind them until there was just a small handful of girls left in your house.
"I can't believe nobody has fallen under the mistletoe yet" Katie whined to Caitlin as she rolled her eyes "do you want us to go under the mistletoe?" she laughed and Katie nodded, Kyra rolling her eyes as the two of them walked off.
"What mistletoe?" you perked up behind Kyra as she jumped slightly "Nothing" she quickly said and you laughed sweetly at her blush from being scared "I think Katie is just a little drunk I suppose," Kyra said and Caitlin and Katie came back, now being the last ones left beside Kyra "I think we're gonna head off" Caitlin laughed as Katie still sported the bon bon paper crown "get her to bed" you smiled "or a toilet" Kyra joked and you laughed.
"You two good here?" Caitlin asked, her eyes especially on Kyra
"Yeah ordered an Uber I'll be good" she replied and you nodded, excited that it would just be you and Kyra behind, even if was for a short time as you waited for her ride.
You watched Caitlin help Katie into the car as Katie sent you an exaggerated wink from the passenger seat.
You walked back inside to see Kyra under your Christmas decorations with a nervous demeanor whilst she looked at some of the pictures on the wall.
You joined next to her with a smile. "That's a picture of me and my brother when we were young" "you were such a cute baby" Kyra laughed "I know" you hummed "what happened?" Kyra turned to you and you dropped your moth open "Kyra!" you gasped and turned around before fake stomping away.
Kyra grabbed your wrist before you went too far and pulled you back under the decorations.
Kyra looked up with an expression you couldn't describe before you followed her eyes.
"A mistletoe" you breathed out with a smile as your heart raced. You were under a mistletoe with the girl you liked.
"I'm pretty sure the rules for being under a mistletoe with someone means that you have to kiss them" Kyra hummed as you looked down at her.
Did she want to kiss you?
"Or if you're uncomfortable you don't have to" she rambled on and you moved closer to her.
"I'm comfortable if you're comfortable" you said and she nodded "I'd say I'm pretty comfortable" she smiled before she leaned closer to you, her height being taller.
When your lips met you smiled, you had wanted to kiss her ever since she joined Arsenal and was your partner in her first team bonding exercise, she won you over with her accent in just a few sentances.
And now you were kissing her.
You both detached from one another whilst keeping eye contact, you both wanted this.
You both leaned in again but this time with more lust, you moved around your living room before placing Kyra on the couch and straddling her lap on top of her.
Kyra's hands tried to roam your body but she got frustrated when it was covered by a thick Christmas sweater, she tugged at it as you laughed at her neediness.
leaning back from Kyra you lifted your Christmas sweater and threw it somewhere in the room before attaching your lips once again that you knew were going to be swollen.
You moved your lips down her face as you reached her neck that was covered by the turtle neck she had decided to wear, but instead of taking it off you lifted the fabric down so you could kiss her lower, her neck strained back to give you more room as she lowered her hands to your ass and squeezed it.
"how long till your uber arrives?" you asked quickly as you found yourself growing hotter and hotter for the Australian.
"I never ordered it" she smirked as she attached her lips to you once more.

Lando Norris (McLaren) - Dress Up
Day 8 of Christmas
Tumblr media
“Please, don’t make me wear this.” Lando mumbled. “Oh come on! Liam is gonna love this.” Y/n grinned as she adjusted the beard on her boyfriend's face. “He’s gonna know it’s me.” Lando protested. “Hes going to me too excited to tell. All you have to do is come in, and let him sit on your lap.” Y/n explained the plan. “You can sit on my lap.” Lando winked as she just stared back at him in an annoyed fashion. “You’re no fun.” He muttered, letting her fix the minor details on his Santa suit. It was a drunk idea of his to buy a Santa suit to surprise Y/n's nephew. The plan was the drive into the driveway in his road car, then hop out with presents and stuff for the kid. The couple completely forgot about it until the suit arrived to their home a few days ago.
"He's gonna be home with mum any minute, so just go along with it!" Lando's hands dropped to Y/n's waist as she fixed his beard. "Don't try anything." Y/n warned. "I'm not doing anything." He replied, knowing damn well he was far from innocent. "Babe, get your hands off now." She chuckled. "But when I'm not doing anything, why should I?" She looked up slightly and was met with his adoring eyes. "Don't look at me with those eyes." She said. "What eyes?" He chuckled, leaning in ever so close. "Lando. They're bound to come back any second, now." He grinned. "Just one kiss." Y/n couldn't help but give in. Her arms flung around his neck and closed the gap between them, pulling him in for a passionate kiss. It was all going fine....that was until-
"Y/n!" Y/n and Lando jumped away from eachother from the sudden voice. Her mum stood in the doorway holding various bags while Liam stood excitedly by her side. "Woah! Y/n, you kissed Santa!" Liam said running towards them. "No, I- Liam I would never! I'm with Lando, remember?" Y/n tried to convince him he hadn't saw her kiss Santa, but he did and that was that. "Nana saw it too!" He said gleaming with joy. "No, she didn't!"
"I wish I didn't." Her mum mumbled. Y/n shot her a look. "Come on, let's just meet him. How's that sound?" Lando nailed the Santa look. He nailed everything, for the whole 20 minutes he was there. "I have to go now, Liam." Lando said in a deeper voice. "But, what is your biggest wish?" Liam thought for a moment before he pulled Lando down towards him and whispered into his ear. Lando looked up to Y/n, almost shocked before smiling. "I'll work my magic and I'll make sure it happens." He replied, patting him on the head. "Bye Santa!" Liam grinned, hugging the big man before he left out the front door and quickly running by the side as to not let Liam see.
As Y/n's mother settled down her grandson, Y/n snuck out the back to help Lando sneak back inside. She opened the shed door and there stood Lando taking his beard off. "Hello, Santa." Y/n smiled. "Have you been naughty or nice?" He grinned. Y/n rolled her eyes and grabbed him by the bright red suit. "Come on, before you freeze to death." After carefully sneaking him back in, Lando began changing. "So, I think you should wear some "Do you wanna help me out of it?" Lando asked in a suggestive tone. "My whole family is do better!" Y/n replied, slapping his chest playfully and walking away. "You love me really!" Lando called out. "I did cheat on you with Santa, though. Didn't I?"
As Christmas day finally came, the family all sat by Lando and Y/n's tree to open the gifts. Both sides of the family were there which was different, but a nice change. Liam and Landos niece Mila got to open their gifts first before everyone else did too. Y/n took the moment in. They should bring both families over to Monaco more often in all honesty. It's just too magical. "Did you get my present yet?" Lando whispered. Y/n smiled and shook her head. "No, I don't think so." Lando bent down u der the tree, searching frantically for his gift before pulling out a small wrapped box and handing it to her. "What's this? Earrings?" Y/n smiled as she tore the wrapping off the small parcel Lando had given her. "Just open it." He replied.
Y/n looked at the black box with gold writing on it.
Lando & Y/n
Est. 2019
She smiled at Lando. It was probably a necklace with a photo of them inside it. "Well, open it." Her mum egged her on, holding her phone out. Y/n turned to see Lando's mum doing the exact same thing. She opened the box, rather confused at the fuss before she fully understood. There in the velvet inside casing was a beautiful and dainty diamond ring, with Lando and Y/n's initials and anniversary date printed on the inside of the band. She looked over to Lando, who shifted from his seat and down to one knee. Her hands covered her mouth.
"Y/n, I love you so much. And we have been on one hell of a ride together so I wanted this Christmas to be our most special and ask you to be my wife by the next, if you'll accept." Lando said, taking the box into his hand. "Of course, you muppet!" Y/n replied through tears. As Lando placed the ring on her finger, their families rejoiced and the couple kissed. Their first of many kisses an fiancées.
Later on whilst the family were getting ready for Christmas dinner, Lando helped Y/n get ready in their room when a question that had been bugging Y/n all day came up. "Lando?" She asked. Lando looked up from his watch. "Yes, my love?" She smiled at his pet name for her. "Why did you ask me today?" Lando grinned and walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her and nuzzling jnto her neck. "Let's just say, a certain little boy had a dream of making Lando Norris his Uncle officially."

There was a phrase you heard quite a few times in your village as a little girl, ‘the night is dark and full of terrors’. Your mum would always roll her eyes and mumble something about ‘religious fanatics’. You were always inclined to agree with her, that is until this night.
This night truly was dark and full of terrors.
Thunder cracked loud enough that your ears rang as rain poured something awful. The harsh droplets pelted at your skin and the sky split in half as a lightning bolt landed merely a stone’s throw before you.
Your horse neighed in panic loud enough that you could hear him over the bellowing wind as he reared back on his hind legs, causing you to slip and fall off and land directly on your backside in the mud.
You gasped in shock and did not even have time to call out before your horse bolted away, leaving you drenched and muddy on the forest floor.
Instead of crying you merely turned your head up towards the sky, embraced the pain of the harsh rain against your cheeks, and screamed at the heavens in frustration.
You managed to pull yourself up before the mud sucked you in below the surface of the world, adjusted the hood of your cloak once again over your head, and trudged forward.
Your boots sloshed through the dampened forest floor and you thought that perhaps the naysayers in your village were right. Maybe the gods were punishing you for your promiscuity.
When you laid with the soldier passing through your village and allowed him to take your maidenhood, you were convinced there would be no consequences.
You were no one, nothing, and not having your maidenhood intact changed nothing other than the subject the gossipers in town clucked about.
It seemed it also changed the gods’ vengeance towards you.
This night was dark and full of terrors, that much you could sense as fear shot down your spine.
You increased your pace, fearing the creatures that could be lurking in the woods, desperate for some sort of shelter. The feeling of eyes watching you from time to time during your journey became steady and unceasing. You felt uneasy, the hair on the back of your neck stood straight up, and you knew it had nothing to do with the cold in the air.
Eventually you had no other choice but to ignore the feeling, having looked behind and around you dozens of times in search of your stalker to no avail.
You trudged along for what felt like hours, not once finding anything that could serve as a temporary shelter. That was, until you somehow stumbled upon a near debilitated castle.
As it came into view, you shuddered at the feeling the crumbling building invoked in you, but any shelter was better than none at this point.
Stone walls with vines nearly overtaking them towered over you as you rushed forward towards the large wooden doors. You looked up and thought you saw a pair of gemstone blue eyes glowing in the dark from a window at the top of the tower, but you blinked and they were gone.
You shook your head, sure your tired eyes were playing tricks on you, and reached for the handle of the door.
You took a shuddering breath and pulled the heavy door open. Shock filled your very being as you were overcome with warmth and light.
While the outside of the building was shabby, the inside was magnificent. It was well kept and well lit. A home fit for a king, with a grand staircase was directly in front of you and an elderly man in a servant’s outfit was walking down it.
“Young lady! Who are you and how dare you come into this home uninvited?” the man chided as he descended the last of the steps and stood before you.
“I-I’m so sorry, sir. I didn’t know anyone lived here, I was merely searching for shelter from the awful storm,” you said, eyes wide- portraying how stunned you felt.
The man’s stern facade crumbled and he smiled warmly at you, you let go of your held breath and managed a small smile back at him.
“Ah, yes, I tend to forget the master’s illusion on the outside of the building. He does it to keep the unwanted away,” he said.
“Illusion? Like magic?” you asked.
“Well, yes, of course. Come in, let’s get you out of the cold. You must be miserable,” the man said as he ushered you inside and closed the door behind you.
“Alfred,” you heard the voice of a man call out from another room. His voice caused a shiver to go down your spine.
“Yes, sire,” Alfred, the man before you replied, and the man with the shiver-inducing voice came into view as he rounded the corner and came into the entryway where you stood.
Your breath caught once again as you saw the most striking and beautiful man you’d ever seen in your life.
He was tall, nearly impossibly so, with long silver hair that fell nearly to his waist. He moved with the grace and control of a lethal killer. His facial features were sharp, as if he was cut from marble. His skin of pale white only emphasized his most distinct feature, an eye of sapphire that covered part of a scar that cut across his forehead and cheek. His remaining true eye was also a distinct blue color, nearly matching the sapphire one perfectly.
Ethereal was the word that arose in your mind as he strode towards you, amusement twinkling in his eye as he took you in.
“And who might you be, lovely?” he asked.
After entirely too long of a pause, in which his amusement appeared to only grow as his beautiful lips curved into a smirk, you managed to stutter out your name.
He repeated it back to you, leaning closer towards you, and your heartbeat sped into a gallop. He titled his head, almost as if he could hear it. You dismissed the thought, deeming it absurd.
“My name is Aemond. Welcome to my home. Tell me, how exactly did you manage to find your way here?” he asked curiously.
You leaned in closer with him, not realizing that your face was merely inches from his at this point, utterly drawn in and intoxicated by his presence.
You were filled with a desire to please him and as a result you began rambling. “I was attempting to move away from my village. Take off and find a new life, but then there was a series of unfortunate events including running for my life, becoming irretrievably lost, and then becoming something I’m certain looks similar to a drowned rat after my horse was startled by the storm and I stumbled around for hours attempting to find shelter.”
“Oh you poor sweet thing. Let us take care of you,” he purred and rather than set you at ease, something in the words made you feel as if your misadventures were far from over. And yet, you were entranced by his gaze and could not so much as force yourself to look away or take a step back.
His smile grew wider as you nodded meekly.
Finally, Aemond released you from his gaze as he turned to Alfred and asked him to fetch the maid Portia to assist you in cleaning yourself up.
Before you knew it, you were being ushered up the stairs and into a room you could only assume was a guest room by an elderly woman with a sweet round face.
She helped you to remove your muddy sodden clothes and you groaned in relief as you slid into a warm bath. You smiled warmly at her as you scrubbed your body and she cleaned your hair, all the while chattering to you about her love for her husband Alfred and their happiness working for Master Aemond.
“Can you tell me about him?” you asked curiously as she helped you to dress.
The dress she helped you into was of crushed velvet, sapphire blue like the gemstone in Aemond’s eye that had so caught your attention. The dress had a corset and plunging neckline that emphasized your curves.
Portia hummed as she led you to sit down and began working on your hair.
“He is a bit odd, yes. Intimidating and perhaps even scary to some, but he has a good heart. And is loyal and protective to those he cares for. He has treated my husband and I very kindly,” she said with a caring smile.
Her words put your heart more at ease, still slightly worried about the new surprising circumstances you had found yourself in.
“Does he typically extend that same kindness to visitors?” you asked, nervousness coloring your tone a bit.
“It depends on the intentions of the visitor. A sweet thing like you? You’ll be well taken care of,” she said.
“Does he often have ill-intentioned visitors?” you asked curiously.
“It does happen from time to time, those in the nearest village hold hate for him in their hearts. Old prejudices I suppose, but no matter!” she said, changing the subject and her tone as she turned you around to view yourself in the floor length mirror.
“Take a look at yourself, my dear. You look stunning, see? All the horror of the day washed completely away,” she said soothingly as she ran her hands up and down your upper arms.
Your breath caught in your throat as you saw yourself. She was right, you’d never seen yourself look so beautiful before. You actually looked fit to reside in such a lovely home, unlike before, unlike any other time in your life. You’d never worn such a beautiful and expensive dress. You ran your hands across the soft fabric, up your torso and thought that it was the perfect inviting dress for someone else to touch you in.
Images flashed in your head of the soldier you allowed to touch you, never while you wore something so pretty, but pleasurable nonetheless. Romps in the hay, literally as the two of you would often meet in your father’s barn and he taught you the art of a pleasure you’d never known before.
You were not disillusioned about it, you knew there was no love between the two of you. You knew he would one day have to move on without you, but when he left town just as others found out about your affair, you were frustrated at being left alone with the consequences of a choice the both of you made.
The townspeople, the people you grew up with, turned on you and called you a whore. Even your own father fell victim to their hateful whispers about you and kicked you out of his home. Only your mother helped you, sneaking you out in the dead of night and gifting you her horse to aid you on your journey into another life.
You shook your head slightly in an attempt to clear those thoughts, the memories of both pleasure and pain, and smiled at your reflection.
“Thank you, Portia, your efforts are greatly appreciated,” you said as you turned and embraced her in a warm hug.
She squeezed you before releasing you and leading you out of the guest room and back down the grand staircase.
You followed her into an elegant dining room, a fireplace lit - the fire crackling and warming the spacious room. The table was large enough to seat ten people, but only two place settings were set next to one another, somehow creating an intimate dinner even in such a large room.
Aemond sat at the end of the table, and stood as he saw you.
“Good evening, you look magnificent,” he said, voice as velvety as your dress.
You did your best to hide how his words flustered you as you smiled softly and curtseyed.
“Thank you, sire. But, this is too much. I did not mean to interrupt your your evening so and I-I’ll never be able to repay you-”
He reached a hand out and you placed your hand in his. At the brush of your skin against his, your words fell off.
His hands were cold, and yet- the mere brush of his fingers against yours filled your body with heat.
“There is no repayment necessary, the pleasure of your company will be more than enough if you would please dine with me,” he said.
“Of course,” you breathed out as you allowed him to guide you to your seat.
Your nose was filled with the aroma of a hearty stew in a bowl before you and your stomach growled in anticipation.
You gave Aemond a sheepish look even as he chuckled.
“Eat, of course. You must be near ravenous. I’m familiar with the feeling,” he said, and his voice dipped lower. His eyes appeared to flash at his words, causing your heartbeat to jump, but you were far too hungry to think about it and played it off as a trick of the light, a reflection of the fire in his gemstone eye.
You tucked in and struggled to hold in your groan of satisfaction at the taste of the soup.
Aemond poured you both glasses of red wine and you thanked him as he handed you yours.
“Are you not going to eat?” you asked him, suddenly feeling self conscious that you were shoveling mouthfuls of stew and bread into your mouth while he merely sipped on his wine and watched you.
“Oh I intend to. Just not right now, I had what you might call a late afternoon snack,” he said and something about his words had a chill run up your spine, despite the warmth of both the room and the soup in your belly.
“You told me of your journey here, but tell me about yourself. I find myself fascinated by the entirety of you,” he practically purred, and you immediately forgot your apprehension at his previous words.
“I feel the same way about you,” you replied breathily.
He smiled, a full glorious smile that made you feel as if the storm had ended and the sun had come out. But there was a glint, a sharpness, and with a start you realized his canine teeth were elongated.
He must have seen the fear in your eyes as he reached over and grasped your hand gently. You felt that on fire feeling in your skin once again, but also felt all the fear wash out of your body.
“Tell me about you,” he requested again, voice soft and low, a tone that caused you to wonder if that was how he spoke to his lovers late at night.
You were filled with compliance, with a desire to please him, and so you did as you were asked, and told him everything about yourself. You told him of your childhood, your parents, your likes and interests, your dreams for a better life.
He watched you with rapt attention, murmuring questions to prompt you to further share with him about yourself. And, oh gods, when he looked at you that way, his sapphire gaze so intense, you wanted to share yourself completely.
“What had you so desperately searching for a new life?” he finally asked.
So you explained, shamefully, how you laid with a man and became the village whore for merely choosing your own pleasure over mediocrity for once in your life.
You looked down at your empty bowl, toying with the spoon, while you waited for his reaction, for his disgust and dismissal of you.
Long cold fingers gently grasped your chin and lifted your head up to meet his gaze.
You were enraptured by his undivided attention.
“There’s no need to listen to the opinions of small minded individuals. Pleasure is nothing to feel guilty about. Especially when there are so, so many pleasures in life to discover,” he said and the soft lilt of his voice along with the dark tone made your toes curl.
You wanted to experience unknown pleasures, you wanted him to teach you, to explore with you.
You bit your lip, nodding slightly in agreement, and his hand slid up from your chin to curl around your jaw. His thumb stroked the apple of your cheek and you shivered.
He pulled your bottom lip from between your teeth and you waited, nearly shaking with anticipation, for him to press his lips against your own, to replace the pressure with some of his own, and he smirked as if he knew what you were thinking, but pulled back.
He sat back in his chair, far enough from you that you no longer felt intoxicated by his scent and presence, and you let out a soft breath of disappointment.
Amusement and desire both seemed to dance in his gaze. You took a sip of wine, looking away from him to clear your head, and took a breath to steady yourself.
“Will you tell me about yourself as well, sire?” you asked.
“Aemond,” he corrected. “Please call me Aemond, sweet one.”
“Aemond, I’d love to hear about you,” you requested once more.
It seemed he had the same response to hearing his name drip from your lips as you had when he said yours, for his eyelid fluttered closed and his hand clenched into a fist, but the next breath he had composed himself once more and nodded.
“My life… it feels as if it has been an eternity. A lonely one at that,” he said and this time you reached over and took his hand, holding it in support.
“I was treated as if I were unwanted from the moment I was born, my eye taken hatefully when I was merely a boy, and then as a man I was deemed a monster. I was driven out of my home, my family did naught to protect me, and it took me far too long to find a place to call my own. Still, others that encounter me call me a monster and I find myself alone most of the time,” he explained and your heart hurt for him.
“Why do others call you a monster? Your gemstone eye?” you asked as you leaned closer to him once again.
This time you leaned in and placed your hand on his face, tracing the length of his scar with your thumb as you gently held his cheek.
“Hmmm,” he hummed in a noncommittal sort of agreement.
“I think it’s beautiful,” you said, your voice so soft it was practically a whisper.
It was evident he heard you as he practically nuzzled his face into your hand. He gripped your wrist and ran his nose from the palm of your hand to the inside of your wrist, breathing in deeply.
His actions, though gentle and loving, caused an inexplicable feeling of fear to drip down your spine, particularly when his lips pressed against your skin. You’d never realized what a vulnerable place in the body the wrist was, a bundle of veins, until Aemond pressed his perfectly curved lips against it.
But as soon as it came, the fear was gone as Aemond looked up at you and you met his gaze once more.
You reached out and pushed his silver hair out of his face where it had fallen and tucked it behind his ear.
His long gorgeous hair was so soft you yearned to run your fingers through it and learn of his response, learn of the noises he would make when in pleasure.
“You are so beautiful,” he murmured, appearing as entranced by you as you were by him.
You could do nothing to hide the way his words flustered you, as the weight of his attention had you pinned down and unable to move.
He caught your hand and held it in place against his hair.
As he leaned closer to you, his movements were slow and deliberate, like a predator trying not to spook his prey.
Your heart began to sprint and you were certain you would never be able to slow it again.
His sharp nose brushed against yours, and the anticipation was so strong you forgot how to breathe.
Aemond hummed softly before he finally, finally pressed his lips to yours.
As his lips moved against yours you felt inherently changed, different. It felt as if a shadowed hand with sharp talons dripping with blood had reached through your chest and gripped your heart and claimed it.
You were his, his, and you were prepared to swear to him your utter devotion, your life. You didn’t quite understand what you were experiencing, but you didn’t care as he deepened the kiss. As he claimed your mouth you gasped, letting out a small whimper. This gave him the in he needed to slide his tongue against yours.
You shuddered, gripping his hair tighter as he lifted you with an ease that should not be possible and sat you atop his lap.
Your dress prevented you from straddling him like you wished, but you could not complain as he gripped your waist tightly. You ran your hands from his face and his hair to his shoulders, down to his arms, gripping him tightly and kissing him deeply, with everything you had, with utter devotion.
You let out a small yelp of surprise as your tongue explored his mouth and brushed against something entirely too sharp.
He tore his lips from yours and met your gaze. Your chest brushed against his as it heaved while you attempted to catch your breath.
Fangs, you recognized. Those were fangs in his mouth, made for sinking his teeth in.
You could not discern how you felt, what you thought, for the utter fire for him burned through you.
He traced your jaw, then the line of your neck down to your collarbone, slowly, achingly slowly as you wanted nothing more than for him to kiss you again. Then, his lips followed the same journey his fingers had just taken. You shivered, your head falling back as your eyes fluttered shut.
“Tell me you are mine,” Aemond ordered, and his breath against the sensitive skin of your neck made you shiver.
“I’m yours,” you replied breathily and you could feel his smile against your throat.
“Tell me you want me,” he ordered.
“I want you,” you whined, and his grip on you tightened nearly to the point of pain, but you could not focus on that. No, not when you felt those fangs graze against that most sensitive spot on your neck.
The night is dark and full of terrors, the words rang through your head once more and your breath stopped as you realized you had fallen into this beautiful monster’s trap. Fear shot down your spine and made your body tense and freeze.
“Hmm,” he hummed in reassurance as he pressed a kiss against your vulnerability.
Your body responded immediately, you relaxed completely, becoming nearly ragdoll like in his arms. He lifted you, holding you as he stood, and walked into the next room, a sitting room of sorts, and laid you on a chaise.
“Aemond,” you breathed out.
He kneeled next to where you laid.
“I care for you,” he said as he brushed a hand across your cheek, “I don’t wish to compel you.”
He kissed you once more. At the feeling of his lips against yours, you were reborn. You had control over your body once again and you yanked him atop of you, deepening the kiss.
He groaned into your mouth, and pulled back slightly, causing you to whine in protest.
“You truly want me?” he asked, his tone sounding surprised.
Your survival instinct had long since gone quiet as a result of you continuously ignoring its protests.
“Yes,” you said and pulled his lips to yours again.
“Perhaps we can make a deal then,” he said, trailing his lips down once more to his favorite spot on your neck, where your veins were most vulnerable.
“If you give me what I want, I will reward you with everything you desire and more,” he said and you again felt the sharpness of those fangs.
You let out a shuddering breath.
“Yes,” you agreed, all logic disappearing as desire overtook your very being.
And you knew. You knew and he knew, that his compelling magic was gone, the desire you felt for him this entire time was real and true, not due to compelling whatsoever. There was something more, something deeper at play here, and your choice was your own as you chose him, completely.
And with that, he groaned lowly and sank his fangs into your neck.
Sharp indescribable pain is what you expected but instead it was like a dull buzz of pain nearly overwhelmed by pleasure.
He ran his hands down your body, ensuring he paid special attention to your breasts and you gasped his name.
Aemond’s hand slipped up your dress, inching up your burning hot skin, and finding the wetness between your legs that awaited him.
You whimpered softly as he brushed your panties aside and finally touched you where you wanted him the most.
His nimble fingers spread your slick and quickly found a rhythm circling your bundle of nerves as he continued to drink your blood.
As the heat inside you built, he pulled his teeth from your neck and slowly dragged his tongue up your neck, licking up every last drop of blood from your skin. His fingers moved in perfect time with his tongue, and with no notice your release hit you, overwhelming you completely as you moaned loud enough to echo through the room.
“Absolutely exquisite,” he said as he pulled back from your neck and looked deep into your eyes.
He ran his thumb over your bottom lip, and you stared at him as your chest heaved, absolutely entranced. He then replaced his thumb with his bloodsoaked lips.
He groaned as you kissed him eagerly, your blood in his mouth not causing any hesitation whatsoever.
“I need you,” you gasped.
“I have needed you for an eternity,” he replied as he began untying the corset of your dress.
You moaned as the cool air hit your skin and he slowly and gently removed the beautiful dress from your body, leaving you completely bare. You turned and looked at the pile of sapphire velvet on the floor.
He gripped your chin, turning your head to look at him once more. You helped him to remove his shirt, and then watched eagerly as he unbuckled his belt, beginning to make himself just as bare as you.
“I must admit something to you,” he said and your mouth ran dry as the hard length of him sprung free.
“Yes,” you asked breathlessly as you reached and wrapped your hand around him.
He let out a sound low in his throat, something similar to a growl, as you began to move your hand up and down his length.
“It is not happenstance that you found yourself in my home. I must confess that I have been watching you for a while now. I needed you. I needed to taste you, to make you mine. I influenced your journey here, guided you, so I could finally show you my devotion,” he said.
“Then make me yours, completely,” you pleaded and guided his length to line up with your wet heat.
With a groan he nodded his head and pushed himself inside you.
He filled you, inch by glorious inch, and you could do nothing but gasp for air as you felt fuller than you’d ever felt in your life.
You reveled in the press of your naked chest against his, as you pulled him close enough that you couldn’t tell where your body ended and where his began.
You were one with the vampire atop you, and you’d never felt more intense pleasure in your life.
When he was certain you were ready, he kissed you, surprisingly tenderly, before he pulled out nearly all the way, and pushed back inside you, sinking to the hilt.
His tempo was slow and deep, as he gazed deep in your eyes and told you how beautiful he found you.
“Perfect, so perfect,” he praised as you mewled for him when he tilted your hips up and hit a spot of pleasure inside you that had never been found before.
Aemond continued his pace, holding you tight, as your nails dug into his back.
“Come for me, darling, I can feel how close you are,” he purred in your ear.
He slipped his hand between your bodies and found your bundle of nerves once more, stroking it and you nearly screamed as your release wracked through you.
You felt you had reached heaven, somehow, in the arms of your ethereally beautiful monster lover and it took you several moments to come back down.
So lost in your pleasure, you had not even felt a sting of pain as he sunk his teeth into your wrist. He gulped your blood, moaning in pleasure, as he continued to pump himself in and out of your tight wet heat, chasing his own release.
You tangled your other hand in his hair, and gripped tighter around his cock, urging him on, encouraging both his release and for him to continue to drink from you.
He groaned as his release found him, sinking deep inside you, bringing ecstasy to you both.
You shuddered a breath as his movements slowed and stopped. He pulled his teeth from your wrist, and murmured your name, like a praise- like a prayer, with utter devotion.
As he looked at you, you reached up and wiped your blood from where it had dripped down his chin.
He brought your wrist to his lips once more, and before you could protest that you were beginning to feel lightheaded, he surprised you by licking the wound clean instead of sinking his teeth back in, just as he had with the wound on your neck.
You watched in fascination, as his saliva magically closed your wound, leaving only a small scar.
He looked up and grinned at you, your blood coating his teeth, and you whimpered and pulled him into another kiss.
He kissed you languidly, tongue moving against yours, as if he had all of eternity with you.
“I have never tasted anything so divine,” he purred against your lips.
“I have never felt so wonderful in all my life,” you said back as you pulled back enough to look upon him once again.
“I can feel it. Can you feel it? You are to be my eternity, my everlasting, my one true mate. I give you my utter devotion. You said you wanted to start a new life. Start it with me. Let me turn you and we can be together forever. Stay with me,” he pleaded.
And so you did.
Yes, this night was dark and full of terrors, but this terror had wrapped himself around you, sunk deep inside you, and devoted his entire being to you, offering you pleasure and love unlike any you’d ever experienced before.
And so, later, when Aemond fed you his blood and turned you and you opened your eyes into this new life, becoming a terror yourself, you grinned and kissed your vampire mate, prepared to spend forever by his side.

THE SUN AND THE MOON
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Demigod!Reader
Summary: Kate makes a visit in your universe after weeks of not seeing eachother.
Word count: 2.5K
Pure fluff. Kate is such a dog mum. This is taking the sapphic long distance experience on a whole other level. Reader is a daughter of Apollo.
a/n: there might be a prequel of this on the workings. It's still an abstract idea but I already got something laid out.
————————————————————————
"Okay, I'll come and pick you up tomorrow morning at 10:00. And if I find you two doing cheeky stuff again you can say bye-bye to your personal multiversal taxi." America warned Kate as she was opening a portal right on the fire escape outside your bedroom window.
"Just to clarify, we were just making out." Kate points out. "We were half naked but only making out." She adds mumbling to herself. She took a step forward, finding herself in your universe. "Whatever. You own me so many pizza balls for this." America grumbles before closing the portal.
You were sitting at your desk, music was blasting through your headphones as you were finishing up an assignment on your computer.
Kate opened your window and jumped inside your room. She smiled as she saw you concentrated on your work. Her backpack slips out of her shoulder, hitting the hardwood floor. She sneaks behind you and takes your headphones off.
"Whatcha listening to?" She whispers in your ear. You jump on your seat and turn around.
"Oh my god!" You whisper shouted. "Kate? What are you doing here?" You stood up from your chair, a smile plastering on your shocked face. You weren't supposed to see her until next week, so this was certainly a very nice surprise.
"Hi, baby. 'Was just popping by. Wanted to see what my beautiful girl was up to." She shrugged as her hands found your waist, immediately connecting your lips in a sweet kiss. When you draw back you notice she has cuts and bruises all over her face and probably on her body too since her suit was all ripped and a bit bloody. You tilt your head. "Did you come here because you wanted to see me or because you want me to be your personal nurse again?"
"Both?" She raised her eyebrows and made her famous puppy eyes at you. You shake your head and chuckle. "Take off your suit." You step back, crossing your arms under your chest. "Eager, are we?" She teases as she peels off her archery suit, throwing it on the floor. Now she's left with a black tank top that accentuates her muscular form and some boxers that had purple hearts on them. Of course she was wearing something like that.
You roll your eyes. "Just stay still." Your hand reaches her jaw, where a fresh and deep cut was glaring at you.
You took a deep breath: a golden aura began to shine around your body. Kate felt your warmth streaming from your fingers to her jaw. In a matter of seconds the cut disappeared. "Who did you fight this time?" Your hand moved to her forehead. "Just some thugs that were trying to steal some kind of dangerous substance. It was a pretty cool fight, actually. I knocked out three guys with only one shot." She says proudly. You smile at her being all cocky of her actions. "That's amazing, love."
As your hands were moving all around her body, healing her from every single bruise and cut, she rambled on and on about her mission. You had to force her to stay still because she was moving around trying to demonstrate how she back flipped and knocked a guy out kicking him in the nuts with her left foot.
Once her skin was smooth again you removed your hands and returned to a normal non glowing human. "Thank you, princess." She smiled at you and gave you a quick peck on the lips. "You knows you're always so hot when you do that. Literally and figuratively."
You chuckled and sat down on the bed, reaching for a bottle of soda on your bedside table and drinking it to get your full strength back.
Kate crawled on the bed, laying on top of you. Her arms cradled around your hips and her chin rested on your midriff as she gazed up at you with her dazzling angel eyes.
"I missed you." She whispers and leans her head forward. She starts to leave a trail of butterfly kisses from your collarbone to your lips. You can't help but giggle at that sweet action.
"I missed you too, Katie." Now her face is right above yours. Your hands find the small of her back and caress her there, your touch is as soft as a feather while you draw heart shaped figures on her bare skin.
"Lucky misses you too." You could feel one of her calloused hands sliding up your back and reaching your neck. "He's always so excited whenever I say your name." She then lets go of you, and goes to retrieve her phone that was in her backpack. "I've got a few videos of that, actually." She crawled back next to you, opened her gallery and pressed play on a video of Lucky being all happy and stomping around as his tail was wagging like an helicopter. You chuckle at the adorable sight.
For the next few minutes Kate proceeds to show you every single video of Lucky she had. (even the ones that you had seen a million times already) "Wait! I almost forgot." She reached in her backpack, taking out a small folder. She opened it and inside there were dozens of pictures of her, Lucky, and a couple with her team too. "I printed some more pictures for you." You melted. Kate knew you couldn't have a phone (being a demigod was really shitty sometimes.), and every time she made sure to print a lot of pictures (and yes, some of them were spicy too). You, in the other hand, were more prone to writing. So while you had an album full of pictures, she had a folder with all your letters and poems.
You couldn't help but to lean forward and kiss her on the lips. "Thank you." You looked at the pictures for a few moments and then looked up. "I got something for you too." You stretched your arm to open the drawer of the bedside table and took a small notebook, handing it to her. "It's a small scrapbook I've been making for the past couple of weeks." There's all kinds of things: poems, flowers, pictures and small things that remind you of her.
The corners of Kate's mouth reached her ears. "You're amazing, princess." She took the scrap book in her hand, starting to open it and flip through the pages. You stopped her. "Nah uh." You put your hand over hers, shutting the scrapbook closed. "That's for later. When you're back home."
Kate rolls her eyes. "Fine." She carefully puts the scrapbook in her backpack. She crawls back to you, fully laying on you and burying her face in your neck. She starts giving you little kisses on the same spot. "Come with me." She says in between kisses. "Come back to my universe."
"Katie, you know I can't." You sigh. Being long distance was certainly not easy. Especially if you both live in different universes, and don't have any type of communication besides iris messages, that you discovered can work between universes, but those can last just for a couple of minutes. (One time you left the "call" go on for the whole night. You had to toss 15 drachmas to pay for it. The inflation has reached the mythical world too apparently.)
"Please." Her soft voice was humming against your skin. You wanted to. You wanted to be with her, be close to her, falling asleep in eachothers arms and waking up to Lucky jumping on the bed and licking your faces. But you had your family to take care of. You were the oldest of the family. Your mum worked all day long, leaving you to take care of your two little siblings. And also you had college. You had missed the whole first semester due to the whole "disappearing into another universe thing" and now you had to catch up.
"I promise that I will, just not now. I have so much going on right now. I can't just disappear again after being away for months." You made her look at you, cupping her cheeks. "You promise?"
"I promise." You whisper, a small smile tugging on your lips.
She leans in and kisses you. She wants time to stop. Tomorrow morning she'll have to go back and it's going to be another couple of weeks until she can see you again. So she doesn't dare to pull away from you. She wants to be in your arms forever.
Soon her tongue slides in your mouth, sinking into you. But it's not enough. Touching you isn't enough. Her hands move up and down your sides, squeezing your waist over your sweater. Or better, her sweater that you stole the last time you went to visit her. Her fingers graze your stomach and slides her cold hands under the soft fabric. Your skin perks up, a shiver running down your spine to Kate's electric and intoxicating touch.
"Katie..." You whisper when her lips detach for a millisecond. She just hums against your mouth, her hands sliding upwards. She knows you're not wearing a bra underneath.
"Darling..." You say again a bit louder but she continues. And right when her fingertips are about to reach your breasts, you stop her. She leans back from your face, her hands don't move, they're warm, now having stolen the heat of your body. She's looking at you with her mouth agape, she's slightly panting, her pupils are blown out and tendrils tickling your now rosy cheeks. "We can't do that right now."
She furrows her eyebrows and she's about to ask why when someone knocks on your bedroom door. "Y/N?" It's your mum. You totally forgot that on Sundays she only works in the morning. Shit. She tries to open the door. This is the only time you thank the gods for having a crappy and old apartment. The handle of the door is almost broken, so it's pretty hard to open it unless you know the right mechanism to not tear the knob out.
"Quick. Hide somewhere!" You tell Kate as she panics and jumps out of the bed. She looks around and then she hears a click. The handle slightly turns and the door opens. Kate crouches down and slides under your bed right before your mum walks in your room.
You quickly put all the pictures that were next to you on the bed under your pillow and smile innocently. "Hey, mum. What's up?"
"I've made tea, do you want some?" She asks.
"Uhm- no. Thank you. I'm fine." You fold your arms under your chest.
"Are you sure? You've been in here for the whole day. You need to take some breaks from those books." She points at your messy desk.
"Yeah, I know. I'm taking one right now. You know, laying in bed and- looking at the ceiling." Kate has to hold in a laugh for your lame response. "It's very relaxing. You should try it."
"Alright." She says reluctantly. She takes a step back when she notices Kate's backpack on the floor next to your bed. Fortunately her suit was on the other side so she couldn't see it. "What's that?" She points at the black backpack.
"Oh. That's uhm- Will's. He left it here yesterday." You lie. But it was pretty effective because Will actually came to visit you the previous day. He would never own a backpack like that but your mum buys the lie and nods. "Hm. Okay. Well, if you need anything I'll be in the living room. Your siblings want to see Cars again." She states and closes the door behind her.
"Okay. Cool, thanks. Have fun!" You hold your breath until you can't hear her footsteps anymore and pat the side of the bed. "Coast is clear." Kate rolls out from under the bed and lays on your bedroom floor, a smirk on her face. You sit criss cross on the edge of the bed and look down at her. "What?"
"You're right. It is relaxing watching at that nice and smooth ceiling." She mocks.
"Shut up." You dangle down one foot and lightly kick her on her hip. She fakes a hurt face and pouts. She stands up and now she's the one looking down at you. "So, I gather you haven't told her yet?" You shake your head. You did want to tell your mum about Kate. But you know she would freak out. She's... very protective, to say the least. The first time you heard of camp half-blood or the term 'demigod' was when you were 15. You didn't even suspect anything since monsters wouldn't attack as you weren't as powerful as some other demigods. So she took that as an opportunity to keep you safe next to her. But the time comes for everyone and one day, after a big fight with her, you sneaked out, walking all the way to camp. And it wasn't a nice little promenade at all with monsters attacking you left and right every single step.
You only reconciled after the whole thing about your dad getting transformed into a teenage boy. Now you were on pretty good terms again, but her protectiveness hasn't ceased that much.
"I want to. I really do but... She'll definitely ban me from going to see you." You look down. "If she even finds out that in those months I've been in another universe and not at camp she'll probably get into a coma." You scoffed.
"Yeah, but you're an adult now. You are way capable to make your own decisions." Kate sat down next to you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
"I know. But the past months we became so close, more close than we've ever been and I don't want to ruin that again." Your eyes are fixed on your lap. You stop the urge to take your fingers to your mouth and bite your nails. Kate sees you getting anxious and she places her hand that wasn't around you over your hands. She speaks with a calm and smooth voice. "Hey, get those bad thoughts out of your head. In the first place, you didn't ruin anything. And secondly, I'm okay with you taking your time. I won't push you to do anything you don't want to." She kisses your temple and then presses your forehead against it.
You lean into her touch and exhale deeply. Then you turn your head, your eyes fix on her collarbone, the sun necklace you gave her is shining on her toned skin. You had a matching one, but with a little moon charm instead of the sun ("That way, it's like we will never be apart." Kate said when she gave it to you.). Then your gaze travels along Kate's features until you meet two oceans rumbling in front of you. "I really love you."
She smiles. "I love you too, baby." She pauses and her sweet smile turns into a cheeky grin. "So no head?"
You chuckle and shake your head. "Can't risk having my whole family hearing your pretty sounds." You peck her nose, making her scrunch it in an absolutely adorable way. "Those are only for me I'm afraid. I can propose some cuddling with a little make out session if you'd like." You suggest.
"Okay. That's fair." She nods in agreement. "Let's get started then, we have so little time and I have to tell you so many things." She climbs on top of you and gently pushes you down the bed. You giggle and your lips press together.
You stayed up all night. Talking about random stuff, taking breaks to make out, and chat again trying to maintain your voices and giggles as quiet as possible.
And it's in these moments where you understand that whatever happens, you won't ever let go of eachother. Because despite the distance you need eachother. The sun and the moon will always need eachother.

(Wolfstar Christmas Get-Together Coffeeshop AU Holiday Fluff!)
3304 words.
Sirius is the town’s most eligible bachelor, and while home for the Holidays, everyone seems eager to get him coupled up.
Euphemia wants to set him up with this sweet boy who frequents the library where she works.
Hope Lupin wants to set him up with her own son.
James wants to set him up with Lily's cute best friend.
Sirius, however, isn't interested in any of them, as he's already smitten with the adorable guy from the coffeeshop.
This Love We Got Is the Best Of All
Merry Christmas - Ed Sheeran & Elton John
“Oh my!” Hope Lupin claps her hands together. “What a handsome young man indeed!”
“I told you, didn't I?” Euphemia beams at her. “Hope, this is Sirius Black, James’ best friend, but more like my second son. Sirius, this is Hope Lupin, she has recently joined my book club and I invited her over for tea.”
“Nice to meet you, Mrs Lupin,” Sirius smiles.
“Oh, please.” Hope Lupin waves her hand. “Call me Hope.”
“How was it at the shelter?” Euphemia asks Sirius.
“Very good!” Sirius’ face lights up. “Mr Snuggles’ owner came to pick him up. You should've seen how happy he was that he had found his friend back, it was lovely, and Mr Snuggles wouldn't stop purring.”
“Sirius is studying in London to become a veterinarian,” Euphemia explains to Hope. “And while he's in town for the Holidays, he's volunteering at the animal shelter.”
Hope leans her elbows on the table and rests her head on her hands. “Handsome, smart and good for animals,” she sighs. “All the girls in town must be swooning over you!”
“They are,” Euphemia chuckles. “But he has already broken all of their hearts by having no interest in girls. Though he has never brought home a nice boyfriend for Christmas either,” she adds, with a stern look at Sirius.
“You know,” Hope says, directing a meaningful smile at Sirius. “My son is about your age and still single. And knowing my boy, he'd be quite charmed by you.”
“Now, wait a minute!” Euphemia protests. “If you want to set Sirius up, you'll have to get in line, my dear Hope. There's this really sweet boy who frequents the library, and I've been dying for Sirius to meet him! If only Sirius would let me introduce them…”
“You know I'm not-” Sirius begins, but he's interrupted by Hope.
“Well, surely my own son comes with a higher recommendation than some boy from your workplace,” Hope insists.
“But I know Sirius,” Euphemia counters. “And I know his type best.”
“Hello?” Sirius waves. “Does anyone care what I think?”
“My son is everyone's type,” Hope says firmly.
“And if my match turns out to not be such a match after all, then your son is more than welcome to shoot his shot…”
“Apparently not,” Sirius sighs, hoisting his bag higher up his shoulder and walking out of the kitchen.
“So now they're both trying to set you up?”
James chuckles.
“It's not funny!” Sirius covers his face with his hands as he drops down next to James on James’ bed. “Just mum was bad enough, but now her friends as well?”
James pops himself up on his elbows and waggles his eyebrows. “That's what you get for being the town’s most eligible bachelor.”
“Middle-aged women meddling in your love life?”
“You know,” James says. “If you want to be one step ahead of the nosy ladies, there's always Lily's friend.”
Sirius groans. “Not you too, Jamie!”
“Oh, come on!” James exclaims. “He's a really chill guy and hella cute! You'd totally like him.”
“Jaaaaames, you know that I'm not… open.”
“Right,” James says, rolling onto his back. “Coffeeshop guy,” he sighs exasperatedly.
“Coffeeshop guy,” Sirius sighs dreamily.
“He's so funny and kind, James. You won't believe.”
James snorts. “What I mostly don't believe, is that you still haven't asked him out yet!”
“I'm getting there, I'm getting there,” Sirius says. “But it's not like I haven't made any progress! Did I tell you that he knows my order now?”
James rolls his eyes. “You've been coming there twice a day ever since you got back in town. If he didn't know your order by now, I'd worry about his mental capacities.”
“You should've seen the way he smiled at me yesterday when he handed me my drink” Sirius says dreamily, as if he hasn't even heard James. “He's so pretty, oh my gosh.”
“I would've loved to see that,” James says dryly. “But someone-” He pokes Sirius in his side “-made me solemnly swear that I wouldn't go near that coffeeshop.”
Sirius huffs. “You admitted that you wanted to interrogate him about ‘his intentions’!”
James shrugs. “Only my brotherly duty.” Then he grins. “Lily's friend already passed my test, by the way.”
“Good for him,” Sirius says unimpressed. “I'm sure he'll make someone very happy someday.”
“Good morning, Remus!”
Remus looks up from where he had been rearranging the pastries in the display. “Oh! Sirius! Morning! A good one. To you as well, I mean.”
“Did you survive the morning coffee rush?” Sirius asks as he approaches the counter.
“Barely,” Remus chuckles. “Good thing it's still too early for most people to order one of our more complicated Holiday Specials.” He shudders. “I'm already dreading the afternoon rush. Luckily some customers are thoughtful enough to always come when the rush is over,” he adds, smiling at Sirius.
Sirius’ stomach flutters. Sure, it's super inconvenient to always start his volunteer work at the shelter a bit late and always stay a bit longer, but that smile makes it all worth it. “Well, gotta make sure I get enough one-on-one time with my favourite barista,” Sirius replies with a wink, and he's pretty proud of his smoothness.
Remus’ cheeks colour, and that could be a good sign, though there's always the chance he's just making Remus uncomfortable.
“You charmer,” Remus mumbles, awkwardly bumping Sirius’ shoulder. “Are you looking for a discount?”
Sirius places a hand over his heart and gasps in pretend-shock. “I would never use my charm for such purposes.”
Remus has given him a free cinnamon bun once, and while Sirius is not much of a sweet tooth, he savored every bite.
“No,” Remus chuckles. “Great power and great responsibility, I suppose.”
“Can imagine rush hour is the worst around Christmas,” Sirius says, looking over the menu. “Must be rather frustrating when you have ten people waiting in line, four coffees still running, and someone goes and orders…” He narrows his eyes at the sign above Remus. “A caramel cookie dough vanilla bean syrup latte moccachino with whipped cream and hazelnut topping.” He looks back at Remus. “What even is that?”
Remus leans over the counter and smirks. “Wanna try one?”
“Remus,” Sirius says emphatically. “The day I walk in here and order something like that, please take me to the ER, because I must've slipped and hit my head on the way here.”
“Booo, you're no fun,” Remus pouts rather adorably, as he pushes himself up from the counter. “Your regular it is.”
“Thank you,” Sirius says, pleased.
“You know,” Remus says, turning around to make Sirius’ double shot cappuccino. “You really gotta step out of your comfort zone every once in a while.”
“My coffee is my comfort,” Sirius replies. “So what would even be the use of my coffee moment if I'm using it to step out of my comfort zone?”
“A little adventure, maybe?”
“It's not that I'm not adventurous, it's just that I know what I like and what I don't like.” Sirius shrugs. “I'm actually plenty adventurous in other aspects of my life.”
“Are you now?” Remus asks, turning around to bring Sirius his cup.
“Oh yeah,” Sirius says. “I love going on spontaneous road trips on my motorcycle, for instance. Did I tell you that I drive a motorcycle?”
Remus’ eyes slightly widen. “That's hot.”
Sirius arches an eyebrow.
“Erm, the coffee,” Remus says, putting the cup down in front of Sirius. “Very hot, so, erm, be careful.”
“Thanks,” Sirius says, giving Remus an amused look. “After having ordered it about twenty times already, that hadn't occurred to me yet.”
Remus immediately hands Sirius his cappuccino as he walks in that afternoon. He's got cacao powder stains on his apron, whipped cream on his cheek, cookie crumble in his hair, and a bewildered look in his eyes, making him look like a very cute mess.
Sirius arches an eyebrow. “You're not gonna try to push one of your Holiday Specials on me?”
Remus shakes his head. “I feel like I've made enough moccaccinos, frappuccinos, chococcinos, hazelnuccinos, or whatever kind of ccinos for the rest of my life. If you ordered one, I might have actually refused.”
“Well, not to worry,” Sirius says, taking a sip from his drink. “And here I thought my impeccable argumentation had convinced you.”
“Well, the motorcycle was a strong argument,” Remus says, leaning over the counter, resting his head on his hand. “Guess there's a whole other side of you outside of this coffeeshop that I do not know yet,” he murmurs, looking at Sirius intently.
Sirius tries to school his expression into something more collected than how he feels on the inside, because yet? Does that mean Remus wants to get to know him while he's not just doing his job? And god, must he be looking at him like that?
“Well, yeah,” Sirius says, surprising himself with how normal his voice comes out. “I suppose there is more to me than double shot cappuccinos.”
Remus smirks. “Who would've thought?”
“Excuse me?”
Remus jumps, only now noticing the woman standing at the counter. He quickly rushes to her. “Hi, yes, I'm sorry, how can I help you?”
Sirius finishes his coffee and slips on his jacket, staring at Remus, who's still having a conversation with the woman about the difference between a latte and a flat white. He's trying to work up enough courage.
“You!” Remus suddenly says, pointing his finger at Sirius while the woman walks away with her gingerbread latte. “You're not thinking about leaving without showing me, are you?” He turns his hand around and wiggles his finger, beckoning Sirius over. “Come on, let me see, let me see!”
Sirius rolls his eyes fondly as he walks over to Remus. “I wouldn't dare,” he says, as he whips his phone out of his pocket and opens his photos.
Remus eagerly looks at the screen. “Oh my, did Purrkins get her fur brushed? What a lovely lady!”
“She did, and she was quite the drama queen about it.” Sirius rolls his eyes. “You'd think we were trying to torture her.”
“Look how proud Bowie looks!”
“Well, he was a really good boy and found two sticks in the yard!”
“And who’s that fuzzy ball of fluff?”
“That's Myta! She was brought in today, and already made many friends.”
“And there's our dynamic duo!”
“Yes, little Adrian and his big brother Bram are still as inseparable as ever.”
“Oh! Is… Is this what I think it is?”
“It is! Siepie got adopted today!”
Remus sighs deeply as Sirius has swipes to the last photo. “God, I envy your job. I mean,” he adds quickly. “I know it's not always fun and very hard work as well.”
“I guess it is,” Sirius says. “But everytime I walk in and see those faces, it more than makes up for it.”
“That's what my friend who works in kindergarten always says,” Remus says. “But I could never quite imagine. In this case, though, I immediately believe it.”
Sirius grins. “Wanna quit this job and come volunteer in the shelter with me?”
“Too bad,” Remus says. “Getting paid is a non-negotiable for my job.”
“You'll get paid in cuteness!” Sirius insists.
“Cuteness doesn't pay college tuition, I'm afraid.” Remus chuckles. “Otherwise you'd be studying for free.”
Sirius opens and closes his mouth.
Remus turns bright red and runs a hand through his hair. “I… Erm, I mean…” He claps his hands. “Well, I better get cleaning! Considering my brain-to-mouth-filter apparently stopped working, I must be very tired. I should start closing up.”
“You know,” Sirius quickly says. “If you really want to know more about me outside of this coffeeshop, my chosen family is hosting a Christmas Eve party. Maybe you'd like to come?”
“Christmas Eve?” Remus replies. “Oh, I'm sorry. I already promised my mum that I'd go to this event with her on Christmas Eve.”
Sirius face falls. “Right. Of course. It's short notice, after all. Well, better luck next time.” Sirius turns to walk away.
“Sirius!” Remus grabs his wrist. “I really am sorry.”
Sirius looks down at Remus’ hand and then up to his face. “It's okay. It's Christmas Eve. You can't cancel on your mum, of course.”
Remus bites his lip. “Would you think me a terrible person if I kind of wish I could?”
Sirius smiles. “Your secret’s safe with me.”
“That's amazing, mate!” James beams at him.
“We should not get ahead of ourselves,” Sirius warns. “I mean, he did say no.”
“But he obviously wanted to say yes!” James exclaims, grinning broadly.
“He did, didn't he?” Sirius’ face also breaks out into a grin. “I mean, he wouldn't have called me back to emphasize how sorry he was if he was just trying to blow me off.”
“Definitely not,” James assures him. “He's totally into you, just really couldn't make it. And now he knows you're interested, so nothing should be stopping him from asking you out next! Which is good, as the sooner we know if it's going to work out with coffeeshop guy, the better. Lily's friend is single now, but he won't be forever. Ow!” James rubs his arm where Sirius just punched him. “But of course I'm rooting for you!” He adds, upon seeing the glare Sirius is directing at him. “I'm just saying, it's a shame Lily's friend can't make it to the party either. It would've been good if you could've at least gotten to meet him before completely making up your mind on coffeeshop guy.”
Sirius lies back on the bed, folding his arms behind his head, staring up at the ceiling. “I hate to break it to you, Jamie, but my mind is already completely made up on coffeeshop guy.”
James looks at Sirius and shakes his head. “You're really gone for him, aren't you?”
Sirius sighs. “I can't bloody stop thinking about him.”
“Good heavens,” James says. “You're down bad!”
“I'm glad mum's library boy couldn't make it to the party either,” Sirius says. “Now the only person I have to politely reject is Hope Lupin’s son. Though maybe he's completely mortified about his mother's meddling and isn't even into me at all,” he adds hopefully.
“Wouldn't count on it mate,” James says, lying down next to him. “A single gay guy seeing you and deciding he's not interested? That happened exactly never.”
Sirius groans, and James pats his leg sympathetically.
“I'm not even trying to boost your ego here. You know the effect you have when you walk into a room.”
Okay, so maybe Sirius does kind of know the effect he has when he walks into a room. Giggling, admiring glances, lingering looks, that sort of thing, but he had not exactly expected to have that effect on the middle-aged and elderly women of town.
At the Potters’ grand Christmas Eve party, it seems like every single one of them is stopping him. “Oh my, Sirius Black? Is that you? Look at you! My dear, you get more handsome every year! Say, is there a special someone in your life already?”
This is mostly followed by them listing all their children or grandchildren who are still single, while Sirius tries to politely get away before they whip out the photos. He's grateful that at least he hasn't run into Hope Lupin yet, shoving her son in his face. Photos are easier to get away from than an actual person, after all.
When talking to seventy-five-year-old Mrs Markell, she hadn't even been mentioning any grandchildren, and Sirius is wholly unprepared when she suddenly takes a stack of photos out of her purse, with no chance for him to get away on time. But it turns out she heard Sirius is studying to become a vet, and she just wants to show him pictures of her beloved dog, Mr Barkell. And well, Sirius is definitely here for that.
“Oh my god, what a handsome fella indeed!” Sirius is just gushing over Mr Barkell in his brand new Christmas sweater, knitted by Mrs Markell herself when he hears a familiar voice.
“Sirius?”
He looks up and immediately feels his heart speed up, because Remus in an apron is adorable, but Remus in a button-up and suit jacket? Good god. “Remus?” He manages to say. “What are you doing here? I thought you had that thing with your mum?”
Remus looks just as surprised as he does while gesturing around himself. “This is the thing with my mum.”
Sirius blinks. “Your mum took you to our Christmas Eve party?”
“Apparently,” Remus says, smiling sheepishly.
Suddenly, Euphemia’s voice can be heard. “Remus!”
“Msr Euphemia?” Remus stammers.
“You're here! Oh, how lovely.” Euphemia gives Remus a warm hug, before playfully slapping his shoulder. “And you made me think you couldn't make it, you,” she tuts.
“You know Remus?” Sirius asked, stunned.
Euphemia rolls her eyes. “Why, of course I know Remus! I've been trying to introduce you to him for ages! Ever since this adorable boy walked into my library,” she says fondly, squeezing Remus’ arm.
Before Sirius can say anything else, another voice sounds. “Oh no, you two are already talking!” Hope Lupin rushes up to them. “And I wanted to be the one to introduce you two!”
Euphemia frowns. “Why did you want to introduce Remus to Sirius?”
Hope blinks. “...Remus is my son?”
“Remus from the library is your son?” Euphemia exclaims.
The two women stare at each other for a moment, and then they burst out laughing. “Can you believe it…?” “This whole time…” “We were just trying to get Sirius together with the same person!”
Remus’ cheeks turn bright red. “Mum!”
“Remus! Mate! You're here!” Sirius probably shouldn't even be surprised anymore to see James running up to Remus and slinging an arm around him. “Lily said you already had other plans, but I'm super glad you made it after all!”
James lets go of Remus and walks up to Sirius, grabbing his arm and pulling him forward. “Have you met Sirius yet?”
“Yes,” Remus replies, looking a bit dazed. “As a matter of fact, I have.”
Sirius stares at him and opens and closes his mouth a few times before managing to produce words. “You're library boy, and Hope Lupin’s son, and Lily's friend?”
“Wait, really?” James speaks before Remus can reply. “Are you serious, Sirius? That's all the same person? All Remus?” He starts laughing and clasps Sirius on the shoulder. “I know how head over heels in love you are with your coffeeshop guy, but mate, this sort of seems like fate, doesn't it?”
Now it's Sirius’ face that turns bright red, as Remus raises his eyebrows. “James!” Sirius hisses.
James looks from Sirius, to Remus, and back again and his eyes widen. “What? Do you mean… No way!” He gasps. “Are you for real? That's insane, mate! Insane, but also kind of amazing. Wow, this best man's speech is going to write itself!”
“James!”
“So,” Sirius begins, staring up at the night sky after Remus and he have stepped outside for a moment to talk. "Apparently, everyone in my life has been trying to set me up with you.”
“Yeah,” Remus says, awkwardly scratching his head. “Sorry about that.”
“Don't be,” Sirius says, turning to him to look him in the eyes. “I must admit, I kind of like that everyone in our lives saw you, saw me, and all had the same thought: these two should be together.”
The smile Remus gives him makes Sirius feel warm even in the December cold. Remus reaches out his hand. “Including us?”
Sirius smiles back at him as he takes the offered hand. “Yeah, we beat them to it, didn't we?” He squeezes Remus’ hand softly. “Including us.”

a little one shot based off this request
pairing: Mattheo Riddle x reader
word count: ~700
warnings: mentions of weight, ed tendencies
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose at you looked at the envelope in your hands. Your mother made a habit of charming her letters to read allowed to you once they’ve opened and you just weren’t in the mood to hear what you were sure was only ridicule and critique about how disappointed you were making her. Your parent’s expectations were high to say the least. You thanked Merlin for your sorting into Slytherin, hoping that keeping that legacy would at least have them showing some sort of affection, but alas you were given a letter listing more expectations now that you’ve met a previous one.
You swallowed, finally getting the courage to tear the seal. As soon as it was broken the letter finished opening on its own, folding into a pair of disapproving lips that strongly resembled your mum. You closed your eyes, ready to bar the message. “Y/n…hope you’re doing well,” your mother’s voice rang through the room as you rolled your eyes. “Your father and I got your most recent marks. We were disappointed to see you let that mudblood best you yet again, it really would be nice if you put in some effort with your studies.” You groaned, rubbing your hands over your face. You were second in your class, only behind Hermione Granger who, very obviously, was the smartest witch to come out of your generation. She was actually a sweet girl, and your mother’s use of the derogatory term turned your stomach.
You had hoped that was the gist of the letter, but your mother’s voice continued, “Your father and I also received the latest Hogwarts Herald. The photo they used of you from the last quidditch match really was awful, seems like you’ve quite a bit…larger than when you left this fall. Please remember to pace yourself at meals, chew at least twenty times before you swallow. It’ll trick your mind to think you’re fully, trust me. You’ll thank me for it later. Also, please remember to pack your nicer clothing when you come home for Holiday. You know how important those parties are for your father.” With that the letter floated down to your desk, reverting back to a simple piece of parchment.
You let out a shuttered breath, not even aware you were holding it in. Your eyes brimming with tears. “Y/n/n…” you turn your head at the sound of Mattheo’s voice, wiping your eyes with the back of your hand before standing up, trying to compose yourself. “Oh, hey Teo, what’s up?” He looked at you with sad eyes, “Was that your mum?” You nodded, putting on a smile the best you could, “Yeah, she’s, erm, just really passionate about her beliefs. No big deal, how much, uh, how much did you happen to hear?” Mattheo walked closer to you, “Heard that she wants you to starve yourself, why on earth would she say something like that?”
He went to place his hands on your hips, but you pushed them away. You walked over to your bed, sitting on the edge. Mattheo turned in his spot, “You know what she says isn’t true, don’t you, love?” You shrugged your shoulders, unsure of yourself. “Princess, you are so absolutely breathtaking. You are so strong, one of the toughest beaters I know, you’re the reason we won the last five games, that’s why they took that photo of you.” He was standing in front of you now, holding your hands in his. He brought one up to his lips, kissing your palm, then the inside of your wrist before guiding you to wrap your hand around his neck. “Every curve of your body,” his hands roaming up your sides now, “Merlin, I’m so obsessed with you.” His forehead rested against yours, noses brushing, “Don’t listen to her cruel words, because if I had it my way I’d worship you, every part of you, every night, every day.” He tilted your chin up, connecting his lips to yours. The kiss was soft, gentle, like he was breathing you in. He broke apart, a little sooner than you would have liked. He then walked around, climbing onto the bed behind you, “C’mere, let’s lay down. I wanna keep telling you how perfect you are.” His arms stretched out and you immediately climbed into his embrace. You spent the rest of the night like that, wrapped in his arms.

Mearps, "you're cute when you're grumpy", weekend trip away xx
decided to write this into the a date to remember series teething II m.earps
you bolted upright as you heard the baby monitor, glancing over and sighing seeing your daughter crying in her crib, having only settled her a couple hours ago.
"mary." you reached over and poked your wife who hadn't stirred, still sleeping soundly next to you. "mary!" you spoke louder, pushing her now as she whined but made no move to get up.
"baby it's your turn come on." you groaned, slapping your hand against her back as she mumbled something inaudible and delilah's cries grew louder.
"for fuck sakes." you exhaled seeing your wife very clearly wasn't going to get up anytime soon. "useless woman!" you kicked her as she reached an arm out and lazily swatted at you but again made no move to wake any further.
rubbing your face tiredly you swung out of bed, hurrying to the living room where you'd left the portable crib, the three of you having gone away to the seaside for the weekend for your wedding anniversary.
you were trying to break delilahs habit of co-sleeping, which is why the crib wasn't stationed at the end of the bed like it normally would be, trying both here and at home to get her used to sleeping in her own room.
but with it being a humid night in an unfamiliar environment it wasn't surprising that she was incredibly fussy and unsettled, it having taken both you and mary around three hours to even get her to bed last night.
normally your daughter was an angel and you and mary had been so grateful that for the most part she was a good sleeper, but with her first couple of teeth wiggling their way through you knew she was sore and tired and restless.
"oh my love, do your little gums hurt?" you cooed softly as you looked down at her with sympathy, picking her up and resting her on your hip as her cries slowly died down into hiccups and you rubbed her back.
you made your way to the kitchen carefully grabbing one of the teething rings in the freezer which had been a helpful suggestion from your mum and offering it toward her, sighing in relief when she immediately latched on.
after around ten minutes of her teething as you walked the length of the villa bouncing her softly, you hoped that she would go back to sleep not yet due for a feed for another couple of hours.
only the very moment you tried to pull the now lukewarm teething ring from her mouth did delilah start wailing again, reaching for it as you dropped it into the sink and grabbed another one out with a sigh, your daughter immediately settling the moment it was back in her mouth.
with a defeated exhale you returned to the living room, sitting down on one of the armchairs and popping out the kickback, getting a little more comfortable as delilah laid on your chest sucking on the teething ring.
you hadn't even realized when but you must have fallen asleep, suddenly jerking awake as your chest filled with panic as you noted immediately that your daughter wasn't with you and you were somehow back in the bedroom.
your mind racing you quickly looked down, breathing a small sigh of relief when delilah wasn't on the floor or in the bed with you, so you couldn't have dropped her.
though how you even ended up back in bed was still a mystery, and without even batting an eyelid awake, but you assumed your wife had something to do with it.
you knew it had been a few hours given how light it now was outside, wincing as you sat up and a sharp pain shot through your neck from the angle you'd slept at on the armchair.
rubbing it with a sigh you made your way to the living room, poking your head in and finding it perfectly empty you turned and instead headed for the kitchen where sure enough you heard voices.
"well good morning gorgeous!" mary sang out with a wolf whistle as her eyes landed on you. "now darling how do you manage to look so beautiful when you've just woken up?" your wife shook her head in disbelief, your eyes rolling.
still annoyed with her for not waking last night you avoided her open arms making her gasp as you instead made a beeline for your daughter who was sat in a highchair, cooing over her and kissing across her face as she giggled.
"we made her. how cool is that?" mary grinned as you couldn't help but smile, glancing at her over your shoulder. "is she due for a feed? i don't even know what time it is." you yawned, pushing your hair to one side of your head with a stretch.
"she's fed, bathed and we went for a lovely little walk in the sun this morning didn't we lilah? let mummy catch up on some sleep." mary cooed, dishing up whatever she'd been cooking as you hummed, smiling fondly down at your baby.
"mummy wouldn't have needed to catch up on sleep if mama had taken her turns!" you raised an eyebrow at your wife who smiled sheepishly. "i love you very very much mother of our child, keeper of my heart and love of my life?" mary tried with a charming smile.
"mm you're on thin ice earps." you exhaled with a shake of your head, though unable to really stay all that mad at the taller girl you melted into her awaiting arms, head resting against her chest as she held you tightly.
"and you're very cute when you're grumpy." mary teased as you halfheartedly smacked her for the comment.
"happy anniversary baby." your eyes widened properly at her words, groaning a little as you'd clearly forgotten, though it didn't seem to bother your wife who smiled.
"don't, you clearly had a long night love." mary cut you off before you could speak, kissing you softly and running her hands through your hair combing out a few knots.
"happy anniversary." you echoed back her words, standing up on your toes to repeatedly peck her lips, mumbling how much you loved her and sending her cheeks blushing bright red which made you grin at the bashful gesture.
"your favourite. stopped by the store on our walk!" mary pulled away and pushed a plate toward you which was piled high with food, your heart soaring at the way she'd so very clearly remembered every little thing, even down to the heart shaped perfect sunny side up eggs.
"magic darling." mary winked before you could even ask how, stealing a kiss and grabbing both your plates nodding for you to sit down at the table where delilah was happily babbling away.
"oh i know, i know. here baby!" mary ducked down to pick up the blocks your daughter has tossed onto the floor, dropping them in front of her as she made a happy noise, little legs swinging back and forth as you both watched her with matching smiles.
"should we get the teething rings?" you frowned as delilah shoved one of the blocks into her mouth to chew on. "nah it's fine love she seems happy, and i cleaned all her toys this morning because she keeps putting them in her mouth." mary chuckled taking a seat beside you as you kissed her cheek.
you stifled a laugh as suddenly mid bite a block came sailing through the air and hitting your wife in the head, your hand shooting up to cover your mouth as delilah clearly thought it was hilarious and let out a giggle.
"oh you think that's funny do you missy?" mary shook her head as you chuckled beside her. "maybe this weekend off was a bad idea babe." her head turned toward you with a questioning frown at your statement.
"reflexes are shocking you didn't even try to catch that block!"

Tiny Toes: Part 6.2 - Cassian x Reader
Tumblr media
Here's the second installment of the Ottie-Calling-Y/N-Mum mini-series
Summary: Birthdays + Surprises + Big Changes 2.0
Word Count: 1.7k
You can read the previous part here
A small commotion on the other side of your bedroom door had you tossing in your sleep, somewhat aware of the fact that something was going on but not conscious enough to fully bring yourself to care. However, it was the wafting smell of pancakes, and waffles, and eggs, and bacon, and toast – basically all the breakfast foods you could possibly think of – that had your eyes blearily blinking open.
Now that you were properly awake, you could clearly make out the hushed voices of Cassian and Ottie; knowing that they were there had an automatic smile tugging on your lips as you rolled over and pulled the blankets tighter around you.
“Ottie,” you could just make out the sound of Cassian opening the door, “I think she’s still asleep, so what do you need to do?”
You were certain that Cassian knew you were awake purely from the teasing tone in his voice, yet, you remained still, eyes closed, as Ottie bounded across the floor and, with a determined flap of her wings, landed on the bed beside you.
“Happy Birthday!”
You opened your eyes, coming face to face with a grinning Ottie who was excitedly jumping on the bed next to you. Once she saw that you were awake, she let out a squeal before attacking you with a hug and countless kisses to your cheeks.
“Oh, hello.” You mused with a sleepy smile, arms wrapping around her as she fell against you, making room for Cassian to sit on the mattress beside you.
“Happy Birthday!” Ottie repeated again.
“Thank you, sweetheart. How did you know it was my birthday today?”
“Daddy told me.” She looked over at Cassian with a conspiratorial nod.
“Did he just?” You shot a glare at Cassian who was smiling at you, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He was well aware of the fact that you didn’t want to do anything to celebrate this year, after a few hundred years the excitement eventually wore off. But if Ottie knew it was your birthday…
“- we have lots and lots of things planned for you today,” she excitedly said, going back to bouncing on the bed as Cassian silently shifted to lay next to you, his fingers lacing through yours. “We’ll do presents, then after presents we have breakfast, then after breakfast we get ready for the day, then after we’re ready… oh no.”
Cassian looked up from you, midway through pressing a kiss to your cheek. “What’s wrong, princess?”
“I forgot to get my birthday card.” Spreading her wings, Ottie was, once again, in the air before landing with a soft thud on the floor. You huffed a laugh as you felt Cassian tense beside you, watching her every move with trained efficiency.
“Cauldron, I’m still not used to her being able to do that,” he said aloud before turning back to you with a soft smile, “Happy Birthday, love.”
You hummed as Cassian moved to hover above you, arms wrapping around his neck as he leant down to slant his lips over yours. The kiss was cut off as quickly as it started as Ottie ran back into the room and flew up onto the bed again.
“Birthday card, birthday card,” she said in a sing-song voice, basically pushing Cassian off of you so that she could have your full attention. You shifted up the mattress so that you were now leaning against the headboard, Cassian settling beside you and slipping an arm around your waist so that he could tug you closer against him.
“Is that for me?” you asked Ottie as she sat on your lap, excitement radiating off of her as she constantly shifted as though unable to keep still.
“Yep, I made it all by myself.”
“Oh, it’s beautiful. Thank you so much, Ottie” your heart lit up at the positively delighted look on her face as she took in your complement.
“You have to read it,” you smiled at her again as you opened the homemade card, taking in the swirls of colours that were spread out across the page. “No,” Ottie was quick to interject, “you have to read it out loud, silly.”
Cassian peered over your shoulder at the card, sharing an amused look with you as you both tried to decipher what the scribbles meant.
“Ottie, you know what would make this card even more special? If you read it for Y/N.”
“Oh, okay.” Ottie seemed to contemplate the idea for a moment before grabbing the card from you with a determined little nod as her eyes scanned over the paper.
You shifted slightly so that you were now leaning against Cassian’s chest, his arms tightly wrapping around you with his chin resting on top of your head as you waited for Ottie to begin.
“Dear Y/N, daddy wrote that bit to help me get started but I did the rest, I promise,” you gave her a reassuring smile, prompting her to continue.
“Dear Y/N, happy happy happy birthday. You are going to have a good day, no, the bestest day, because… because you just will. And because Daddy and I planned lots and lots of surprises for you, because it is your birthday.”
You let a smile light up your face at Ottie’s words, based on the way her eyes switched between one specific spot on the paper, then to you then to Cassian and back again, it was clear that she was just saying whatever came to mind, but, truthfully, you found that even more special.
“Ummm, thank you for giving me lots of cuddles, and for making cupcakes with me, and for always reading me a bedtime story and tucking me in. And… oh! Thank you for making Daddy laugh and smile. And thank you for being my mummy and I really, really love you. I love you this much,” she flung her arms out wide, seemingly straining to create even more distance between the tips of her fingers. “And thank you for having your birthday today because it means we get to eat lots of cake – which was supposed to be a surprise.”
Ottie finished with a proud grin as she looked between you and Cassian with a sense of finality. She was quick to lean against you to point out what each drawing on the card was, completely missing the way your eyes teared up and the emotion filled glace you and Cassian shared.
“Daddy?” Ottie asked in an overemphasised whisper, pulling the two of you out of the trance you had been in. “Can we go downstairs and open presents now?”
“I – uh – Sorry, Ottie, yes of course. Shall we eat some of the secret pancakes we made at the same time?” Cassian asked, tearing his gaze away from you as a brilliant smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
“Oh! Yes, please! Come on, mummy…Y/N, umm,” Ottie cocked her head at you, fumbling over her words whilst trying to make sense of them. “Come on, I want you to open my present first because it’s going to be your favourite. Daddy said I can’t tell you what it is yet...”
You were stuck, frozen against Cassian as you watched her jump off of the bed and wait for you by the door, jumping excitedly from foot to foot.
Cassian squeezed your shoulders as he pressed a kiss to your shoulder blade, your neck, then the top of your head. “Come on, love, we’ve got presents to open and pancakes to eat, don’t we Ottie?”
Climbing out of bed together, Cassian was quick to lace his fingers through yours, giving them a reassuring squeeze as you followed Ottie out of the room.
“Cass…” you started, still at a loss for words.
“Are you okay?” he pulled you to a stop while Ottie leapt down the stairs, softly singing to herself and completely oblivious to the weight her words held over you. “I can have a chat with her, tell her not to–”
“No, it’s fine,” you said softly, cupping his face as your eyes scanned for any flickers of emotion that would give you insight into what he thought of the situation.
“You don’t mind?”
“No, I – I don’t think so.” You smiled at him, feeling a shift as the implication of this next step took hold.
“Good.”
“Good?” That was all he had to say? Good?
“Yeah, good. Now hurry up, we’ve got presents to open.” He said with a wink.
“Cassian?” you said, still rooted to the spot despite the calloused hand that tried to tug you further down the stairs. He turned back around, a soft smile gracing his handsome features as he stepped closer to you.
“As long as you’re okay with it, we’ll figure the rest out later, alright?” You nodded in response, a smile pulling at your lips to ease the sudden tension and doubt that creased between Cassian’s brows, already feeling more at ease now that you knew he was alright with what happened.
“I love you, Y/N. Just so you know in case I hadn’t already told you that today.”
You wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him down so that his face was level with your own, “I love you,” you murmured back before pressing your lips against his.
Once again, you were interrupted as Ottie reappeared at the bottom of the stairs. “Y/N,” she yelled up to you excitedly, “you were taking forever, so I already opened a present for you. Look, it’s a book.”
Cassian scoffed, ready to chastise her as she ran back into the living room, leaving a trail of wrapping paper and ribbons behind her. You pressed another soft kiss to Cassian’s lips, unable to fight off the smile that you were sure matched the one spreading across his face.
“Come on, I don’t want any more surprises ruined for me today.” You said with a laugh as you held Cassian’s hand and continued down the stairs.
“Don’t worry, love. There are plenty of surprises left in store.”

Flying High And Falling Hard
pairing -fred weasley x fem!reader
a/n - prompt three for hogmarch :)
warnings/tags - injury, fluff
wordcount - 1.7k
Tumblr media
You couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement as you stepped off the Floo Network and into the cozy chaos of the Burrow. The air was filled with the scent of homemade pies and the sound of laughter, instantly making you feel at home. Summer break had finally arrived, and you were eager to spend it with your best friend, Fred Weasley.
As you made your way through the bustling kitchen, Mrs. Weasley enveloped you in a warm hug, welcoming you back to the Burrow with her usual motherly affection. Fred came bolting down the stairs, his familiar grin spreading across his face as he pulled you into a tight embrace.
"Y/N! You made it!" Fred exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "We've been counting down the days until you got here."
You returned his hug, feeling a surge of happiness at being reunited with your best friend. "Wouldn't miss it for the world, Fred. I couldn’t wait to finally see my favourite Weasley again," you replied teasingly, returning his smile. “Speaking of, where is Ginny?”
Fred's expression immediately shifted to one of mock hurt, his hand flying dramatically to his chest. "Ouch, love. That stings," he said, feigning offense. "Here I am, practically bursting with excitement to see you, and you're only here to see my sister?"
You couldn't help but laugh at his theatrics, rolling your eyes playfully. "Oh, come on. You know you're really my favourite," you told him with a grin, nudging him with your elbow.
Fred's grin widened at your words, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Well, I should hope so," he replied, his tone dripping with faux indignation. "After all, I am the charming, handsome one, aren't I?"
You chuckled at his shameless self-promotion, shaking your head in amusement. "I see your head’s still as big as it was at school last week.”
As the two of you continued to banter back and forth, the familiar warmth of friendship washing over you, you couldn't help but feel grateful for moments like these. Despite the chaos of the world outside, the Burrow was a sanctuary of laughter and love, and you were grateful to be a part of it.
The days at the Burrow passed in a whirlwind of laughter and adventure. You and Fred spent countless hours exploring the nearby woods, playing pranks on his siblings, and, of course, engaging in epic Quidditch matches with the other Weasley's, and Harry of course.
One particularly sunny afternoon found you and Fred soaring through the sky on your broomsticks, the wind whipping through your hair as you chased after the Quaffle. Fred's laughter echoed in your ears as he executed a daring dive to steal the ball from your grasp, his competitive spirit shining through.
But as the game progressed, disaster struck. In the heat of the moment, Ron yelled out a warning as a bludger came hurtling towards you, catching you off guard and sending you crashing to the ground below. Pain shot through your ankle as you landed awkwardly, the world spinning around you.
"Y/N!" Fred's voice echoed in your ears as he abandoned his broomstick and rushed to your side. His hands were gentle as he helped you sit up, concern etched across his features.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.
You winced as you tried to put weight on your injured ankle, but shook your head, trying to reassure him. "I'll be fine. Just a twisted ankle, nothing serious."
But Fred wasn't convinced. His brow furrowed with concern as he examined your injury, his worry palpable. "We need to get you inside and let mum take a look at it," he insisted, his tone leaving no room for argument.
You nodded weakly, allowing Fred to help you to your feet and guide you back to the safety of the Burrow. As you hobbled along beside him, you couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. It was your fault for not paying attention, for letting yourself get distracted during the game.
Once inside, Mrs. Weasley bustled over to you, her expression immediately morphing into one of concern as she took in your injury. With her gentle touch and soothing words, she quickly set to work, inspecting your ankle and applying a cooling salve to ease the pain.
Fred hovered anxiously nearby, his eyes never leaving you as he watched his mother work. You could see the worry etched across his features, his usual jovial demeanour nowhere to be seen.
"I'm sorry," Ron's voice suddenly cut through the tense atmosphere, his expression filled with remorse as he approached you. "I didn't mean for that to happen. I should've been more careful."
Fred's jaw clenched at his brother's words, his gaze flashing with anger as he turned to face Ron. "Yeah, you should've been," he snapped, his tone sharp and biting. "You could've seriously hurt her."
Ron recoiled slightly at Fred's outburst, his expression contrite as he shuffled awkwardly on his feet. "I know, Fred. I'm really sorry," he mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It's okay, Ron," you spoke up, your voice soft but firm as you addressed him. "Accidents happen. And it already stopped hurting."
Ron's eyes flickered with relief at your words, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Thanks," he replied earnestly, his gratitude evident in his tone.
But Fred remained silent, his gaze still fixed on his brother with a hint of lingering anger. You reached out and gently touched his arm, offering him a reassuring smile. "It's alright,” you said, your voice soothing.
Fred's jaw tensed, but he eventually relented, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly as he turned to look at you. "I know," he murmured, his voice quieter now, the anger in his eyes gradually giving way to a softer expression.
Mrs. Weasley finished tending to your ankle, wrapping it securely with a bandage and instructing you to keep off it for the rest of the day. With a grateful nod to her, you hobbled over to the couch and settled in, propping your injured leg up on a nearby cushion.
"Thank you, Mrs. Weasley," you said, smiling gratefully at her. "I really appreciate it."
She patted your hand affectionately, her eyes filled with warmth. "Of course, dear. Anything for you," she replied kindly before bustling back into the kitchen to resume her cooking, Ron rushing after her.
Left alone in the living room with Fred, you couldn't help but feel a flutter of nervousness in your stomach. The air between you seemed charged with unspoken emotions, and you weren't sure how to break the tension.
Fred sat down beside you, his expression still etched with concern as he watched you carefully. "Are you feeling any better?" he asked, his voice gentle.
You nodded, offering him a reassuring smile. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Just need to rest it for a bit," you assured him, trying to sound nonchalant despite the butterflies in your stomach.
Fred's gaze softened even further as he reached out and took your hand in his, his touch warm and comforting. "I'm glad you're okay," he murmured, his voice filled with sincerity.
You felt a rush of warmth flood through you at his words, a smile spreading across your lips. "Thanks, Fred. And thanks for being there for me," you mumbled, squeezing his hand gently.
His smile widened at your words, his eyes sparkling with affection. "Always. I'll always be here for you," he replied softly, his voice filled with warmth.
Lost in the comfort of his touch, you found yourself drawn to him in a way you hadn't quite realized before. The lines between friendship and something more blurred in that moment, leaving you feeling a sense of longing that you couldn't quite explain.
Fred's eyes met yours, something new flashing through his eyes as he leaned closer to you. “There's something I need to tell you," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
You held your breath, anticipation coursing through your veins as Fred's words hung in the air between you. The intensity of his gaze sent shivers down your spine, and for a moment, it felt as though the whole world had fallen away, leaving just the two of you in that cozy living room.
"What is it, Fred?" you asked softly, your heart pounding in your chest as you waited for his response.
Fred took a deep breath, his hand tightening around yours as he searched for the right words.
"Having you here," he began, his voice gentle but filled with emotion, "these past few days with you... they've been incredible."
You felt your cheeks flush at his words, meeting his gaze. "They have been," you agreed.
Fred continued, his thumb tracing circles on the back of your hand. "And I... I don't want them to end," he admitted, his voice tinged with vulnerability.
Your heart skipped a beat at his confession, the realization of what he was saying sinking in. Could it be possible that Fred felt the same way you did?
"I don't want them to end either," you confessed, your voice barely audible as you searched his eyes for any sign of what he was feeling.
And then, without another word, Fred leaned forward, closing the distance between you and pressing his lips to yours in a gentle, tentative kiss.
Time seemed to stand still as you melted into the kiss, the world around you fading away until there was nothing left but the warmth of his lips against yours. When you finally pulled away, your heart was racing, your breath coming in short gasps as you met Fred's gaze, your fingers intertwining with his.
"Wow," you whispered, a wide smile spreading across your lips as you leaned your forehead against his. "I didn't see that coming."
Fred chuckled softly, his arms wrapping around you as he pulled you close. "Me neither," he admitted, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. "Can’t believe I’ve got Ron to thank for this."

The Hells dispersed into their tent and began dropping all their gear near respective beds and taking shots from the bottles Ashton managed to scavenge. Weariness and heartbreak had begun to give way to a delirious happiness at seeing their old friend return.
“Dorian! There’s someone else you have to meet!” Laudna flourished excitedly, “Oh Pâté!” She called.
Just over her shoulder a creature popped into existence, wobbling and flapping the bat-like wings that barely kept it aloft. “Yes mum watcha’ need?”
Dorian was taken aback. “Oh my god! He’s alive? He’s real? That’s a real-thing?!”
“Oh ‘ello Dory! ’s been a while.” The bird skull turned to address him.
“Dorian. It certainly has, wow, did you get…bigger?”
“He’s a bit bigger, yeah.” Imogen added, dropping her head over Laudnas shoulder.
“Oh an’ these two!” Pâté flapped out to turn and gesture at them. “They finally forked the meat pie-if you know what I mean-“
“Pâté! You crude little pest.”
“-‘ey lock me in ma’ house at night now, gets awful scary with the noises ‘ey-“
Laudna brought her hands together like she was swatting a bug midair and Pâté yelped as his form squisheed and burst into black goo. “That’s quite enough of that.”
“Oh, well-I, congratulations you two, if I am understanding his…way with words…correctly?”
“We’re datin’ yeah.” Imogen couldn’t help but laugh.
“That’s wonderful! Honestly I thought you’d been secretly together this whole time.”
“You’re not the first to say that, actually.”
“I also have a wolf in my chest! Would you like to meet him?” Laudna bounced excitedly towards Dorian, who scrambled backwards.
“A what?! I-um sure?”
Dorian watched helplessly as a massive wolf literally burst out of Laudna’s chest. He held his bladder but took several steps back to keep his shoes free of ichor. “Oh, wow-you weren’t kidding, that is a very large dog.”
The thing was half rotten and only really had fur along its head and spine. Ghostly glowing mist drifted around it and seeped from the gapping wounds in its side. It gnashed its teeth as it turned to look at him. It’s eyes glowed a sickly green that was almost hypnotizing, only breaking away when Imogen whistled and it bounded happily over to sit at her heel.
“That’s a good boy.” She cooed and rubbed at his ears.
Laudna echoed his praises. “His name is Caviar, isn’t he gorgeous?”
“He certainly…suits your style!”
Orym joined them then, watching Dorians expressions carefully. “Guys, maybe let’s save some excitement for the morning?”
“Rest does sound nice, though I may not sleep.” Dorian admitted his face darkening, “…not after seeing that!” He tried to spin it as a joke but Orym’s frown deepened.
“You can bunk with me -and Fearne- if you want?”
“…I will admit, I have missed our cuddle piles.” Dorian smiled softly. The two men stared at eachother for an extended moment while Imogen and Laudna looked between them.
Laudna snickered but Imogen’s eyes sparkled with mischief as she pressed into Laudna’s side. “Well then, are you ready for bed, baby?” She purred just loud enough to be overheard. “We can leave the boys to their…cuddlin’.”
Dorian choked out a cough, his cheeks darkening. Laudna melted, twirling her hair around a finger and smiling a dopey grin. “We can have our own cuddle pile.”
“Of course.” Imogen grinned before rocking up on her toes and pulling Laudna into a soft kiss. The hound at their side jumped to his feet and did an excited twirl, tail wagging as his master sighed happily.
“I-uh- we should just-“ Dorian sputtered. Orym resisted an eye roll but smiled fondly at the pair. “Yeah, let’s go find Fearne.”
“I heard we’re kissing?” Fearne popped up behind them with a wine bottle in her hand. “It’s about time!”
Orym groaned into his hands, face heating.
